Best Mistake Korean Drama in Urdu and Hindi unofficial Episode 5 Added – KDramas Urdu
Tumblr media
Best Mistake Korean Drama in Urdu and Hindi Unofficial Episode 5 Added!
Tumblr media
Adding "Best Mistake" to your TV list? You're not alone! It's the latest addition to the growing list of web dramas available for free. Many people are enjoying this South Korean drama in both Urdu and Hindi, and unofficial Episode 5 is the latest update. Stream the episode here! We've also added Dr. Romantic, a web drama that's just okay, to our list!
Unofficial Episode 5 Added
If you haven't yet watched "Best Mistake", now is the time! We have unofficially translated the latest episode of the South Korean drama into Hindi and Urdu. Watching the drama has been an experience in itself. The visuals and the story give us more than we can see. In fact, it is one of the most interesting web dramas of 2019.
Dr. Romantic
The latest drama titled "Dr. Romantic in Best Mistake" has arrived in the Hindi and Urdu languages. This romantic South Korean drama stars Han Suk-kyu, Seo Hyun-jin, and Yoo Yeon-seok. It was a commercial hit and has received many positive reviews. But before you get started with the new episodes, it's important to know a little bit about the plot.
Dr. Romantic was an okay web drama
Dr. Romantic was an okay web drama, and I'm surprised it's been around for so long. It lasted about four episodes and had a surprisingly interesting plot, despite its short length. However, I would have preferred a longer version of the story. This is not a criticism of the web drama - it's just not as satisfying as a longer version of the same story. While Dr. Romantic was a mediocre web drama, it managed to get to the heart of the issue with a hot kiss scene, which usually occurs in the eighth episode. The premise is great, and the actors are great. The drama is about two doctors whose personal lives are intertwined. The first is a medical case where Seo Woo Jin runs away from loan sharks and works through endless part-time jobs to attend medical school. Seo Woo Jin's financial troubles have ruined his career, and Master Kim gives him the chance to turn the tables on life. In addition to the characters, Dr. Romantic follows the lives of two doctors at Doldam Hospital. Yoo Yeon Seok plays Dr. Kang Dong Joo, while Seo Hyun-Jin plays his patient Yoon Seo Jung. The doctors are mentored by Teacher Kim, played by Han Suk Kyu. This character inspires the others to become doctors like him. And the plot was a little predictable. The acting is strong and the writing is strong. Han Suk Kyu is a good actor, as usual. He portrays Dr. Kim with a great sense of humour and passion, and a soft spot for the oppressed. Overall, Dr. Romantic was an okay web drama, but there are a few aspects that you should avoid if you're a fan of Korean dramas.
Best Mistake was an okay web drama
While Best Mistake had some interesting elements, it ultimately fell flat. The premise was a cute one: a group of friends have begun dating, but new students are threatening to break up the group. Then one of the geeks in the school picks up a boy's photo and starts to get to know the other students. The resulting romance was naive, young, and enjoyable. Best Mistake was a very well-acted web drama, starring Kang Yul as Ji Hyun Ho and Lee Eun Jae as Kim Yeon Doo. The story follows Hyun Ho after he accidentally posts a photo of himself with a guy he doesn't like online. Eventually, the two become involved and develop a love/hate relationship. But will their love-hate relationship survive? The third season of "Best Mistake" is already in the works. Leading actors Hyun-suk and Kang Hye Won will appear, as well as CIX's Wonpil. Although the cast of season three is still in its infancy, the web drama's popularity continues to rise. Hyun-suk will play the role of the cheerful and optimistic Kim Dae Young. Season three will be produced by the same production team that made seasons one and two of the web drama. The third season is due to premiere on August 17, KST. "Best Mistake" is currently airing on KoKTV's YouTube channel and will continue on every Tuesday and Friday. Season three will also feature Lee Jung Joon, who made headlines in the first season due to his cameo appearance in the web drama. While he has yet to appear on a full-length series in the future, his visuals alone are enough to get his attention. Best Mistake was an okay web drama. Tumblr media
Your first encounter with Kim Seokjin doesn’t go so well, nor your second, or your third… and maybe that’s because it shouldn’t work on paper. You’re an elementary school teacher living with your best friend, and have never left the country despite hitting the third decade of your life not so long ago. He’s the dad of one of your students, nearly a decade older than you and divorced. Oh yes, and just another minor detail – he’s a multimillionaire.
Your lives are lightyears apart, yet somehow, your paths having now crossed, things just seem to fall into place…

author’s note; fun fact, I’ve never actually written an epilogue before, but it felt fitting this time around, to tie up all the loose(ish) ends and satisfyingly bring it to a close – she says as if she isn’t writing drabble upon drabble (and more) lol but you get what I mean. I hope you enjoy! Thank you for reading ~

“The rabbits!” Seokjin cried out of the blue, jumping to his feet.
Immediately you found yourself slumped into the sofa, having been leaning against him, cuddled up all morning. You sat up, confused as you looked at him. “What?”
His eyes were wide with panic. “I need to feed them! Arin will kill me if she finds out.”
“Relax,” you chuckled, taking a hand in yours to tug him back to you. He stepped between your legs but kept standing. “They won’t starve to death. When did you feed them last?”
“Last night,” he thought. “Just after I came home from work. Maybe 7.”
You checked his watch, seeing it was just gone eleven. “They’ll be fine for another half hour.” You stood up, tugging his hand again, but this time to lead him to the kitchen. “Come on, let’s take the stuff for brunch to your place.”
You’d stayed in bed for a while this morning, just happily holding and kissing one another, still buzzed and definitely still basking in that post-orgasm glow. When you’d finally managed to escape the warmth of your sheets, you’d showered together. Your bathroom was a lot smaller than his – obviously – and your shower bath was even tinier, but you made it work, until you didn’t, Seokjin nearly toppling out over the side while simultaneously nearly getting rolled up in the shower curtain. Of course that had given you the giggles, but you’d composed yourself, finishing up, getting dry and then getting dressed for the day. Luckily, Seokjin had some clothes at your place, so he didn’t have to recycle the ones he’d slept in last night.
You were treating this day like a Sunday, making the most of being lazy on the sofa before you inevitably had to go and cook brunch up.
He stopped in his tracks, making you turn back. “You sure?” He asked, pulling you to him, nuzzling his nose against your jaw as his arms wrapped around waist. “I wanted to stay here this weekend.”
You couldn’t stop yourself from chuckling, linking your hands around his neck as he placed a kiss behind your ear. “It doesn’t matter where we are as long as we’re together.”
He pulled back to see you, his plump lips already curved into a smile. “You speak such truth. I’m forever awestruck by you.”
“Shut up,” you rolled your eyes, but that didn’t stop you from stealing a small kiss.
Seokjin decided he wanted more, pressing kiss upon kiss to your lips with enjoyable hums. “I love you,” he declared causally after the last that lingered a little. Then he grinned. “How many time will I say that today before it gets annoying?”
You smiled fondly at him. “You could never be annoying.” You got the last kiss. “I love you.”
.
.
A lazy day was a lazy day regardless of the house. After Seokjin made sure the rabbits were happy, fed and had fresh water, you started brunch, eating it on the kitchen island as the rain continued, falling down against the tall windows. Any other day you would have found the weather depressing, but not today. Not when you were bursting with happiness and beautifully content. Besides, that just meant you had even more of a reason to do nothing, cuddled up on Seokjin’s large corner sofa as you picked up the series the both of you had started watching a couple of weeks ago.
At around 5pm you started toying with the idea of going out for dinner somewhere, but then you hadn’t brought along the right clothes and by now it was raining heavier than it had all day. The idea of putting on makeup made you feel even lazier, so you decided on takeout in the evening and a movie instead.
As Seokjin was arranging the containers and plates around the coffee table, ready to dig in, movie ready to go, you slipped out a question. There’d been something on your mind all day, nothing major of course, but still, you didn’t quite know how to bring it up.
“What time is Arin coming home tomorrow?”
“I’m unsure,” he replied, briefly looking over at you before he opened up the black bean noodles. “I need to text Nana.”
You nodded, opening you mouth to ask a follow up question, but hesitating last minute. He looked at you again, sensing your caution and raised a concerned eyebrow. You hated seeing him worried, so you rushed ahead. “Do you want me to go home beforehand?”
“No, of course not,” he exclaimed, before he furrowed his brow. “Unless you want to of course… If you feel uncomfortable.”
“I don’t,” you were quick to reassure. You wanted to be there actually, if he was okay with it. “I was thinking her and I should clear the air.”
You could see Seokjin deep in thought for a brief second before he nodded, sitting back against the sofa to take your hand. “It won’t be like last time. I promise.”
Seokjin had already told you some of what he and Nana had spoken about Thursday evening, so you knew not to be worried about any potential conflict, but still, you didn’t want to blindside her. “We should probably check with her first though, right?”
“Okay,” he agreed. Giving you a smile, he squeezed your thigh. “I’ll call her after the movie.”
.
.
“Should I turn off the lamp?”
You nodded in reply, watching Seokjin lean over his side of the bed to flick the only form of light you had off. When he rolled onto his back, you immediately pounced, hooking a leg over his hip to settle yourself on top of him, your stomachs flush. It may have nearing 12am, but sleep was not the thing on your mind.
“Oh, hello,” he responded, happily surprised as his hands found your hips, nudging you closer.
“Hello,” you smiled, wasting no time with meeting your mouths.
You were a woman on a mission, knowing exactly what you wanted. Today had been lovely, and yes, you’d already had sex today, but when had that ever stopped you before? You were happy and in love and just couldn’t keep your hands (and lips) off of your boyfriend. On top of that, you were just in a great mood, full of positivity. Nana was fine with meeting tomorrow and that meant you could all clear the air and move forward. You’d finally get to see Arin again too, you’d missed her.
Things were perfect, if you did say so yourself, everything heading in the right direction, and right now you wanted to celebrate that. With Seokjin. In the best kind of way.
“I would have kept the light on if I knew we’d be kissing,” Seokjin murmured wetly against your lips, his tongue missing yours by a second as you started to trail your way down his chin, throat and then his chest, kissing over his pyjama shirt.
He felt you start to undo the buttons, his cock beginning to rouse expectantly which was highly amusing for you. As you exposed more and more of his chest your lips followed suit, kissing down his stomach, past his belly button to stop just above his pyjama pants, the tiny hairs that littered the skin tickling. You pulled the shirt open, working your way up again, Seokjin helpfully keeping your hair out of your eyes as he tried to hungrily watch you at work, the light of the moon shining through the gaps in the drapes casting enough light to be able to make you out.
He let out a shaky moan when you flicked the tip of your tongue against his right nipple, laughing at himself afterwards.
Back at his mouth, you didn’t stay too long before you sat up, straddling him.
“Where are you going?” He wailed, annoyed you didn’t want his kisses.
But it wasn’t that you didn’t want them, more like you wanted something else…
You moved downwards, covers collecting at the end of the bed as you slotted in between his eagerly opening legs, his hips bucking when you cupped his now fully erect (and trapped) member. You began to run your hand up and down it, a grin on your face as you looked up. “You’re so easy.”
Eyes having adjusted, you saw his grin was a little more bashful, eyes half lidded as he admired the view before him. “Only for you.”
Ever the flatterer, you had him inside the warmth of your mouth in no time. You weren’t shy by any means, especially now what with all the times you and Seokjin had been intimate, but there was something about being surrounded in near darkness that gave you a fresh surge of confidence. In the glow of the moon, you could make out Seokjin’s parted lips, his eyes piercing the ceiling, giving you a glorious view of his thick neck, Adam’s apple bobbing up and down slowly as his breathing got shallower, just enjoying the moment. He looked handsome as hell – mixed with that pyjama shirt pushed sinfully open, his toned chest and stomach on full display. For you.
Taking him deeper, you reached for him, running your hands up his stomach, feeling the firm ridges of muscle. He let out a deep moan, looking down to take your hands in his, eyes heavy with desire as he clasped them tight. You eased up a little, smiling around his cock before you started sucking the tip, caressing your tongue over him time and time again.
He lifted his hips up, eager for more and you wrestled one of your hands free from his to clasp it around the base of his dick, feeling how wet it was from your saliva as you slowly started jerking him off, placing small, wet kisses against his slit.
With the hand still on his torso, he slipped his fingers between yours, head relaxing back, eyes shut once he felt you softly begin to massage his balls, coating them in the spit that had dripped down onto them. You took him deeper again, picking up speed as you bobbed your head up and down. The sensation just about exploded his mind.
“Jesus, fuck, baby,” he gasped, free hand running through his hair and tugging at the roots. “If you keep that up I’ll cum.”
You found it cute how bad his voice trembled, pulling off to smirk. “And is that a bad thing?”
“Nope, it’s not bad,” he agreed, a little more himself now that you’d spared him for a few seconds. “I just thought we could do some other stuff too.”
“Some other stuff?” you laughed, lifting on your knees to crawl closer to him. You continued to massage his balls, feeling them tighten. “Like what?”
He took a shaky breath, rolling his hips into your touch. “Like…” He paused to groan. Now you were jerking him again, your thumb rolling small circles against his slit. “Sex.” He tried again. “I want to have sex with you.”
“You do?”
“I always want to have sex with you.”
And impatient now, his hands gripped your waist, tugging you to him. You squealed, fingers slipping from his cock to land on his chest, the movement sudden enough to make you think you were falling. He kissed you hastily, a soft growl in his throat as his palm grazed over your ass, fingertips playing with the frill detail of your shorts.
“I’d be inside you 24/7 if it was possible.”
“God, I want it to be possible so bad.” You practically lamented, his mouth on your neck now, licking strips up and down the sensitive skin.
He made another noise, cock twitching against your thigh. You felt impatient yourself now, hands finding the collars of his shirt to push it over his shoulders, needing to strip him. He lifted his back of the bed, letting you shimmy the item off before his hands grabbed at your vest, lifting it up over your head in no time. Your mouths met in a rush, his hands palming your breasts, making you moan out, nipples sensitive as he pinched them between his thumb and forefinger.
You went to move, wanting to get rid of his pants but he stopped you, fingers wrapping around your ribs.
“W-wait, wait, wait, wait,” he babbled, pulling you closer. “Let me taste them.” To explain further, he caressed a finger down your left breast, making you shudder. “Mine,” he whispered possessively and then you found yourself hovering over his face, his hands cupping the soft, sensitive flesh as he kissed and sucked them in turn.
You could feel yourself growing wetter and wetter, shorts uncomfortable as he swirled his tongue around and around your nipple, nipping it gently as he pulled away. “I love your body,” he breathed – hard. “I love you.”
“Mhmm,” you moaned deeply, watching him suck on the other boob now. Your fingers dug into the pillow, arms trembling with pleasure. “I love you, too.”
He made a noise of approval, finally letting you break free so you could get his pants down over his hips. His erection was so hard by now it almost stood poker straight, veins angrily visible even in the faint lighting. Pyjama pants below his knees, he eagerly kicked them off the rest of the way, watching as you peeled off your shorts. Both naked, he moaned as you straddled him, sliding up and down his cock teasingly, coating it in your arousal.
“Honey, please,” he pleaded. His voice shook. “Don’t tease. It’s not very nice.”
“You tease me all the time.”
He groaned weakly, unable to think of a comeback. You sat straighter, chest wet and shiny in the moonlight, his doing, and you knew he could see it too, his dark eyes watching you silently – hungrily. He looked so good, you couldn’t wait any longer. Wrapping your hand around him, you ambitiously went for it, pushing down and taking him whole. It surprised you both, groaning together as you caught your breaths.
Although, you didn’t give him much time to get used to the feeling of your warmth hugging him tight before you began to ride him hard and fast, bouncing up and down loudly before you stopped to swivel your hips. He could feel you everywhere, his eyes practically rolling back into his head as you continued your onslaught.
“Y/N…” He murmured, voice weak as he watched you begin to bounce on top of him again, his hands travelling up your thighs to land on your waist. “Y/N,” he tried again, unable to piece together a sentence. “Shit, keep going like that…mmfph, yeah, just like that…”
When you felt his fingers digging into your skin you wrapped your hands around his, pushing them away. “N-no touching,” you panted, feeling him lift his legs and fold them at the knee behind you, giving you something to lean back on.
“Seriously,” he asked, sounding annoyed, yet dreadfully turned on.
You smirked. “I want you to lay back and watch.”
He matched the curve of your lips. ‘Oh, I can do that no problem, honey.” He stubbornly kept his voice steady, thrusting inside of you once before he stilled his hips completely. “Could watch you ride me all night.”
On cue, he folded his arms behind his head, biceps bulging. The casual manner got you instantly hot, bouncing along his cock a couple more times before you leaned forward, changing the angle and in turn hopefully sending him crazy. You moved back and forth, griding all over him, your arousal soaking into his pubic hair. You were wetter than usual tonight, turning yourself on as you rode him, hearing the soft squelching where your bodies met, the pressure on your clit eliciting moan after moan.
You stared him straight in the eyes, noticing the way his jaw was clenched tight, a muscle twitching in his left cheek, but he continued to persevere, stubborn to the bone.
That was until he felt your breasts graze against him. His hips jerked up, moaning as he was unable to stop rolling into you, and you let him, let him fuck up into you, moaning softly.
He grunted. “Someone’s getting tired.”
You shook your head with a whine. You could be stubborn too. Sitting up, you attempted to bounce again but his hips were working too fast by now, his fists grabbing the pillow below his head to gain some momentum. You cried out as he thrust harder, Seokjin’s own noises of pleasure gasping out of him as if he’d been holding his breath.
“S-seokjin,” you panted, shakily holding onto his thighs.
He wasn’t relenting. If anything he fucked you harder. “Honey, just give up,” he said matter-of-factly, yet his voice was strained, veins in his neck visible.
Confidently he brought his hands to your hips, knowing you wouldn’t stop him now, too far gone. You let your eyes flutter closed, concentrating on how good his cock felt inside you. The beautifully crude sound of him pounding into you.
“Yeah?” He breathed. “Let me make you feel good now. It’s your turn…”
You nodded, moaning brokenly, and in the blink of an eye you found yourself on your back, Seokjin situated between your spread legs, finding home once again inside the warmth of your body.
You grasped his shoulders, making more noise as he rolled his hips into you, and hooked your legs around his waist, wanting him as deep as possible
“Uh-uh-uh,” he grinned, taking your hands off him. “No touching.”
You started complaining but then he pushed your hands above your head, holding your wrists tight with one hand. “Nghnn. Seokjin,” you moaned, feeling him start to fuck you with his entire weight. His back looked delectable and all you wanted to do was rake your fingernails down it but you couldn’t.
Although, being pinned down by him wasn’t such a terrible thing.
After a couple of minutes he pressed the elbow of the arm that had you imprisoned into the mattress, careful not to squash you as he brought the other hand between your legs, beginning to roll your swollen clit between his fingertips. Gasping, your legs fell back to the bed, circling your hips in time with his motions, wanting to cum now that he’d put the idea into your head.
He chuckled at your eagerness causing you to whine. “Why d-don’t you put those lips to good use?”
“Like this, baby?” He smirked, leaning his face in closer, mouth millimetres from yours, and you just about lunged, kissing him desperately.
He matched that urgency, at some point unable to keep your wrists in place and as soon as he let you go, you had your arms wrapped around him longingly. A groan tore from his throat, thrusts more determined as he continued to rub your clit, and you could feel your back begin to arch, toes curling into the sheets.
He could obviously feel you squeezing around him too, ripping himself away from your mouth with a moan of your name. “Y/N. Fuck.”
That’s all it took for you to crumble, face contorting with pleasure as you stared up at him, pulsing around him uncontrollably.
“You’re so pretty when you cum,” he cooed, removing his hand from between your legs as he pressed soft kisses to your mouth, your orgasm continuing to wash over you in waves. “Am I pretty when I cum?” He joked, but you were too far gone to snort, let alone reply.
He kept rolling into you, determined to keep your pleasure going for as long as possible, and you almost felt overwhelmed, back arching higher as you clung to him, a tear escaping out of one eye to run down the side of your face. He kissed it away, continuing to adore you, voice cracking, close himself now.
“You’re my pretty woman. So pretty.” He murmured against your lips and you kissed him hard, the last of orgasm rocking through your body. Holy shit, that was a powerful one. You felt lightheaded but couldn’t get enough.
“Fuck,” he gasped, feeling the effects as you squeezed and spasmed around him, and with one final thrust he stilled, beginning to spill inside of you.
You cupped his face quickly, hands trembling and pushed his head up, wanting to admire his face. His plump lips were parted and shiny, beads of sweat collecting along his hairline, gaze unfocused, eyelids heavy with the weight of his pleasure. He looked positively sinful.
You gave him a drunken smile, your own eyes barely open, and told him simply, “You’re pretty when you cum.”
.
.
You awoke just as Seokjin was rolling over, a muscular arm reaching for you, pulling your body into his warmth. It was still raining, even harder this morning, but you didn’t care, not when you were so cosy and in love. You were still both entirely naked, which Seokjin took full advantage of, hand cupping a breast – nothing sexual in it though, more like a comfort thing. You smiled, eyes still closed and cuddled in deeper.
“Where is he this morning?”
There was a brief silence as he tried to work out what you were asking, but soon enough he realised and laughed, sound cracked and raspy with sleep. “He’s tuckered out after last night.”
“Aw, diddums.”
A Sunday morning without a boner? Blasphemy. His morning woods were part of the package, so honestly it was quite surprising to not feel him hard between your butt cheeks.
Seokjin kissed the top of your head, making a sleepy sound, hugging you tighter to his body. “He just wants to stay in bed and cuddle this morning.”
“That sounds perfect to me.”
You honestly couldn’t think of anything better.
.
.
Once you eventually dragged yourselves out of the warmth of Seokjin’s giant bed, the rest of the morning and early afternoon went by in the blink of an eye. You had just about enough time for a quick lunch before Arin was due back at 2pm, and even though you were ready to meet Nana this time, you still couldn’t stop yourself from feeling a little nervous. It was only natural, you knew that, so you didn’t dwell on it too much, but as you heard the intercom start to ring in the entryway, signalling her arrival, your worry must have been written all over your face.
“Hey,” Seokjin said softly, calling you as you hovered by the doorway of the family room. When he saw he had your attention, he smiled warmly. “Everything’s fine.”
You gave him a reassuring smile of your own, watching him answer the call to Nana before he opened up the front door, waiting their arrival.
Arin came in full steam ahead, her little backpack on her shoulders, her carry-on hopping behind as she attempted to ram it over the step to get inside. Nana was only just getting out of the car, you could see her slightly from where you still stood in the doorway of the family room.
“Hello, Arin.” Seokjin greeted, amusement clear in his voice as he watched his daughter struggle. “Did you have a fun time?”
She was too busy huffing and puffing to reply and that’s when he finally took pity on her. He reached out his arm, “Let me take your case.”
“No!” She insisted. She was a determined little thing. “I can do–”
She never got to finish off her sentence because as she looked forward she caught sight of you smiling at her.
“Y/N!” She squealed, case (and dad) immediately forgotten as she ran towards you. You weren’t expecting the wave of emotion that hit you when she wrapped her arms around your middle, face in your stomach, but it was there, and it got you right in the gut. You hugged her back. “You’re here,” she beamed up happily.
“I am,” you grinned, swallowing back your wavering voice.
“I missed you. It’s been ages.”
You could always count on kids to be straightforward with their words. She was going to make you cry if she carried on like this. “I missed you too.”
“It’s only been a week, sweetie,” you heard Seokjin say.
Arin turned to him quickly. “It’s still a long time.” Then back at you. “I thought you’d never visit again.”
You felt your heart constrict, and unsure what to do you looked over at Seokjin, finding him equally as afflicted by his daughter’s confession. Teacher mode activated then. “No, no. I was just... busy with work, that’s all.”
You winced inwardly at your stupid excuse, not wanting to lie to her, but unable to really tell her the truth, especially at a time like this.
On cue, you heard Nana’s voice greeting you. “Hi, Y/N.”
You looked over to see her stood just behind Seokjin, a small smile on her face. She seemed a little nervous herself, which selfishly relaxed you.
“Nana,” you smiled back, “hi.”
Seokjin cleared his throat, taking a few steps towards his daughter and you. One look at him told you he was feeling the jitters too. This was brand new territory after all – for all of you.
“Arin, why don’t you take your backpack upstairs and I’ll tell you when mommy is going home so you can say goodbye?”
“Okay,” she agreed simply, pulling away from you to bound upstairs before she stopped abruptly. She turned back to Seokjin and ran forward with her arms forward. “Sorry, daddy. I forgot to hug you.”
He chuckled, bending down to kiss her head before he ruffled her hair. “That’s okay. Now, unpack your things. I’ll bring your case up later.”
She nodded, giving her mom a wave before her attention returned to you. “Will you still be here when I get back?”
“Of course,” you nodded, ignoring the fresh tug at your heartstrings.
“She really likes you,” Nana observed just as you lost sight of Arin going up the staircase.
You shook your head, chuckling as you replied modestly, “I don’t know about that.”
“She does,” she insisted, smiling afterwards. “It’s nice to see. I’m glad she’s happy with everything.”
You nodded, unsure what to respond with, but Seokjin saved the day. “Do you want something to drink?”
Nana shook her hand. “I’m okay, thanks. I won’t stay long. I don’t want to interrupt your afternoon.”
Seokjin gestured her to enter the room, then moved back to take your hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze as he brought you forward, wanting you to go next, putting the hand on the small of your back instead now. His touch calmed you.
“Sit,” he prompted Nana warmly, and she perched herself on the edge of the teal love seat.
“I like what you’ve done with the place by the way,” she said politely, looking around.
“You and me both know I just threw some new throw cushions down,” he laughed, attempting to ease the atmosphere.
Nana joined in just as you sat down on the far end of the sofa. Instead of taking the seat next to you, Seokjin perched himself on the armrest, loosely throwing his arm around the backrest, fingers grazing your shoulder.
Nana’s attention fell to you, her expression now serious. “Y/N, I want to apologise to you.” She began. “I was out of order last weekend. I was angry but that’s no excuse.”
“I appreciate it,” you replied, finding your bearings. “I understand it was a shock to find out about me.”
“It was, but I still acted embarrassingly.” She looked down at the floor, ashamed of herself. “To think that’s your first impression of me.”
She had said some terrible things, yes. Not only to you, but Seokjin too, but, Seokjin had also said plenty of cruel things back. You weren’t one to hold a grudge, especially if she was showing genuine remorse, which you believed to be the case.
“We can start anew if you like?” You offered with a small smile.
She visibly relaxed. “I’d like that.” Then she hesitated before deciding to carry on. “I meant what I said, it seems like Arin really likes you. I trust my daughter’s intuition.”
“She really does,” Seokjin agreed with a hum, rubbing your shoulder.
“She’s been talking about you over the weekend – not that I’ve been prying of course,” Nana was quick to clarify. “You’re good with her.” She looked you straight in the eyes. “Thank you for accepting my child.”
You weren’t used to having this much praise and attention thrown your way, you didn’t really know what to say, but that was alright, you didn’t think Nana was looking for an outright response. You understood how important this was for her. She needed to trust the woman that spent time with her daughter, just like Seokjin had grown to trust you. It was slightly more difficult for her considering she wouldn’t be spending a lot of time in your company, so all she really had to go off was Arin’s opinion on you. It meant a lot to know she had given you a chance. Last week you had been afraid that might not be the case.
You smiled gratefully. “She’s really special.”
“Yes, Y/N says she’s a talented storyteller,” Seokjin mentioned soon after, helping the conversation along as if he could sense that you felt awkward with all the attention cast on you. He knew you too well.
“Oh really?” Nana looked delighted, eyes on you as she waited for more information.
You nodded, complimenting Arin coming easy to you. “The stories she wrote while I was her teacher were amazing.”
“I have the copies somewhere if you want to read them yourself,” Seokjin offered.
“I’d love that,” she beamed. “Thank you, Seokjin.”
“No problem. I’ll find them this week.”
Nana’s gaze happened to fall to Seokjin’s hand still comfortably on your shoulder then, and her smile faltered. In its place appeared guilt. “Listen, I... I hope I didn’t come in between you both because of last weekend.” She turned to you. “I know mine and Jin’s relationship seems toxic and it was until a few days but I,” she paused to glance at Seokjin, “I really want to change that.”
“You know I do too,” he agreed.
“I don’t want to fight anymore, or have things tense between us. We both love Arin.” She caught your eyes. “We all love Arin, so that’s the most important thing.”
You looked down at your lap but nodded in agreement. Arin’s happiness was what mattered the most.
“It is,” Seokjin replied.
Nana smiled, satisfied, and stood up. “Okay, I should get going.” You both followed her, starting to walk towards the doorway.
“Um, I managed to get that Wednesday afternoon free,” she told Seokjin, “is it okay if I collect Arin from school and take her for something to eat?”
“Of course. I know this great pizza place she loves if you want the name.”
“She already told me about it,” Nana chuckled. “I think she was dropping hints, but directions would be great. Thanks, Jin.”
“No problem.” He stopped by the staircase, voice raising quite a lot to reach Arin in her bedroom. “Arin, your mom’s leaving. Come say bye, sweetie.”
In no time at all she was galloping down the stairs. “Will I see you Wednesday?” She asked her mom eagerly.
“You betcha! How does pizza sound?”
“Yay, thank you, mom!” She squealed, going in for a hug as Nana bent down.
“I’ll see you in a couple of days, okay, darling. I love you.”
“I love you more,” Arin murmured sweetly, kissing her mother’s cheek.
Nana kissed her back, chuckling. “Not possible, but okay.” Then she stood up, nodding to you and Seokjin with a small smile. “Bye both. I’ll see you Wednesday?”
“See you Wednesday,” Jin confirmed.
.
You spent the afternoon playing board games together, Seokjin finding a bunch of his old collection in the attic and you had fun teaching Arin how to play, although she didn’t quite grasp the full idea of monopoly yet, wanting to buy everything in sight regardless of if she had enough money or not… It was funny to say the least, even more so when Seokjin was unable to refuse her, loaning her money from the bank time and time again.
Where’s my special treatment, you’d teased quietly when Arin was distracted, secretly finding it adorable how much of a softie he was when it came to his daughter.
“You know I’d buy you anything you want,” he’d replied with a grin, unable to stop himself from stealing a quick kiss.
At around 6pm, you and Seokjin began preparing dinner for the three of you. Only you left him in charge for a little while when you followed after Arin who had gone to feed her rabbits, wanting time alone to talk with her. You hadn’t been able to stop feeling guilty about effectively lying to her earlier and after confiding in Seokjin about it while Arin was unpacking her suitcase, he’d suggested you speak to her about it. He agreed that honesty was the best policy from here on in (within reason, of course) and that she obviously understood something had been wrong last week else she wouldn’t have reacted the way she had when she’d seen you earlier this afternoon.
She was only getting older and that meant as much transparency as possible when she was personally involved in something. She was at that age where these things would stick with her. Although hopefully nothing like last week would ever happen again.
You stood by the doorway watching as she cooed and conversed with the Olive and Ariel at first, not wanting to interrupt. She was such a great little pet owner, making sure they were fed and watered enough, helping to clean their hutch, watching over them when they played outside. She adored them.
After a few moments she noticed you. “Oh, Y/N,” she smiled, “is dinner ready?”
You shook your head. “Not yet.” Stepping closer you joined her, watching the rabbits bound about. Seokjin had found the largest hutch imaginable. “Did you miss them?”
“Yes, but daddy has been feeding them well.”
You stifled a laugh, remembering Seokjin’s panic yesterday morning, but then crossed your arms, clearing your throat. “Hey, listen,” you began cautiously, feeling a little nervous. Arin looked up at you curiously. “Remember when I said I didn’t come over because I was busy with work?”
She paused to think and then nodded.
“I was lying actually, Arin.”
Her eyebrows pinched together. “How come?”
“Because… I didn’t want to worry you.”
She took some time to process what you were saying before she shrugged matter-of-factly. “I was still pretty worried last week anyway.”
You smiled sadly. “I know, and I’m sorry about that. Your dad and I…”
“Did you have an argument?” She was looking up at you curiously, finger playing with Olive and Ariel’s water bottle.
“Something like that,” you nodded. “It was more of a disagreement.”
“I thought so because daddy was sad all week.”
Her honesty stabbed at your heart.
“Were you sad too,” she asked.
“Very.”
“But you’re happy now?”
You smiled at her. “Yes, everything is all fine now. Me and your dad are happy.”
She looked happy herself at that piece of information, relaxing visibly, but then she asked a question that caught you off guard. “Do you know if daddy and my mom are happy too?”
“I think so.” You replied as vaguely as you could, not wanting to overstep the mark. But it didn’t feel right. You tried again. “I think things will be different from now on, Arin.”
“I hope so. I hate it when they argue.” She sounded sad, her gaze cast to the floor.
“I know. No one likes watching their parents fight.” you sympathised.
“What about you and my mom?” She asked suddenly, changing the subject a little. “Are you happy?”
“Yes, I think so.” You smiled at her. “I like your mom. She’s very pretty just like you.”
Arin beamed and then added, “You’re pretty too.”
You wrapped an arm around her shoulders, giving her a squeeze. “Thank you.”
“Don’t worry,” she almost whispered, “I won’t use that word again.”
You were clueless for a moment, not understanding what she meant but then it hit you. She carried on.
“Not until we all decide. Mommy said I might call you that one day if you want me to.”
For the second time today you felt emotional, throat tight as you choked up suddenly. You composed yourself expertly though, taking a breath before you smiled and replied. “That’s right. There’s no rush for when we all decide.”
Arin nodded along happily and you took her hand.
“Should we go and check on daddy now? See if dinner’s ready?”
“I think so.” She agreed, her eyes rolling slightly. “Last week he set off the alarms because he burned my chicken nuggets.”
“Oh, gosh,” you said, soon spluttering out a laugh. Arin joined in. Seokjin had failed to tell you that (hilarious) piece of information. “Well then, let’s hurry.”
Seokjin was searching the pantry for something when you arrived back at the kitchen. “Hey,” he said, shooting a warm smile your way. “How’s my two favourite ladies?”
You looked down at Arin, wanting her to reply and she beamed at her father. “Happy.”
You nodded in agreement, catching Seokjin’s eyes as you shared a private moment, silently telling him everything was fine now. He shot you a playful wink then, closing the door. “That’s funny, because I’m happy too.”
You moved closer to him, collecting the messy ties of the apron he insisted on wearing whenever he was in the kitchen to retie them properly. “We were just checking in to see if the chef was burning dinner again…”
With a surprised huff, he turned to his daughter, eyes wide. “Kim Arin did you tell tales on me?”
Arin erupted into a fit of giggles, you and Seokjin joining in immediately. “Maybe…”
“It was an accident. Happens to the best of us,” he tried to defend.
“Sure, sure.”
Arin was greatly amused by your flippant response, but soon grew sympathetic towards her dad, stroking his elbow. “It’s okay, dad, I forgive you.”
“That’s very kind of you,” he laughed.
“Should I set the table?”
“And that’s very sweet of you,” he added, eyes shooting wide. “Thank you.”
You helped her get all the cutlery she needed and watched her leave for the dining room determinedly. But your attention soon got stolen away, pulled into Seokjin’s warmth as he wrapped an arm around your shoulders. You hooked yours around his middle.
“Okay?” He murmured, checking in as he placed a kiss on your forehead.
You looked up at him, a smile on your face and gave his waist a squeeze.
“Okay.” You confirmed.
Everything was more than okay, actually.
Everything was perfect.

-
“So... We have to stay here all night?”
“If we want to prove that this place isn’t haunted, that’s what we have to do.”
“And... We’re sure it’s not haunted... Right?”
Wonwoo didn’t respond to you as he thumbed through the contents of his bag, seeming to go back through his mental list of things you two would need for the night. You watched him for a few moments in silence, but eventually your anxiety was making you just a tad too distracted. You sighed and looked down to your feet, kicking up the dirt beneath them.
Finally Wonwoo let out a content sound and resecured his bag over his shoulder.
“A place can’t be haunted if ghosts aren’t real,” Wonwoo said assuredly. He looked over at you and hummed thoughtfully. “You don’t look so sure however. Don’t tell me you’re scared.”
When Kwon Soonyoung had come to Wonwoo about an abandoned factory he wanted to repurpose, Wonwoo said yes to the job of proving it wasn’t haunted before Soonyoung had even finished what he was saying.
You weren’t sure why Wonwoo was always eager for the overnight jobs- always trying to stay up late in strange places that people swore up and down held cold spots and scary creatures. It certainly wasn’t those projects of his that you looked forward to. Personally, you were a very easily frightened person.
Just someone closing a book too loud in the library could make you shriek in surprise. So, normally, when it came to Wonwoo’s spookier adventures you tended to busy yourself playing video games safely indoors with Kim Mingyu.
But recently with Halloween being just around the corner, Wonwoo was busy with debunking so many places that he didn’t really have the time for you. It wasn’t anything he had said or done but... You knew that if you wanted to actually spend some time with Wonwoo you would have to suck it up and go on this one trip with him.
So you packed up for a overnight trip and begged him to let you come watch him work. It took a little bit of persuading, but he decided that he would let it slide if you assured him you would be okay.
“So... I just know that I’m going to regret asking this but... What exactly is supposed to be the problem with this place anyways?” You asked Wonwoo. He glanced back at you, his eyebrows high in surprise at the question.
“Oh you don’t know?”
He turned his attention back to the camera and hummed.
“Story has it that this used to be a factory for this really popular toy in the late 80s called Q-Tee. They had the whole management set up here. Like they oversaw the process of everything, including marketing. The toys weren’t doing great here... On account of them scaring children at night, so they decided to give the brand a mascot to help them sell better.”
“The mascot was supposed to be kind of like a Santa Claus, but the kids were scared of him too, and turned out the guy had a few screws loose. He ended up kidnapping a bunch of children- and almost killed them all. But before he could cops busted in. He didn’t want to go to jail so he got a gun and shot himself and now supposedly he haunts the place, still trying to get people to buy the toy.”
Wonwoo shrugged.
“Honestly, it’s not creative, but I guess it’s enough to freak out people who want to buy the place.”
You shifted uncomfortably but tried your best not to worry too much. Out of all the things that you were scared of ghosts certainly weren’t the worst thing that could be haunting this place.
“What was the toy anyways?” You asked him lightly, trying to make yourself sound brave.”
He once again shrugged.
“Clowns would you believe it.” Your heart stopped. If there was one thing that you absolutely could not handle it was a ghost clown. A clown doll- scary but can be destroyed. A clown itself- simply avoidable despite those terrifying painted eyes. But a clown ghost? Unavoidable. Avenging and- probably your number one biggest nightmare.
You grabbed on to Wonwoo’s wrist, holding him a little tighter as he switched on the camera.
“But don’t you worry,” Wonwoo continued, clearly not noticing your sudden change in attitude. “We’re here to prove that the ghosts here aren’t real. And no one has been to this factory in years. So, this job will be a piece of cake.”
Hours passed and nothing.
The room got darker, the clock kept ticking, Wonwoo turned another page in his book.
You sighed. You couldn’t believe that on top of being in a place right out of your nightmares you were bored. And desperate for something to do.
You got to your feet and began to look around on some of the shelves in the room that you were in. You could see something small in the back corner of one of them, so you reached forward for it curiously. You wrapped your fingers softly around it, and turned it around.
The item itself was soft in your hand, and had on a purple and silver diamond outfit. It was covered slightly in dust, but that wasn’t what bothered you. The pattern gave you a bad pinch of nostalgia, that made you hesitantly drag your eyes up to the face of the doll.
You screamed and threw the doll back towards the shelf when you saw the painted face of a clown.
It was hideous, with large white diamonds making its eyes look even bigger, a bright red nose, and dark skin that made the chipping white paint even more off putting. You raced back over to Wonwoo, burying your face into his chest
“I saw one,” you screeched.
Wonwoo laughed and peeled you off of him.
“It was just a doll,” he said lightly, patting your head in- frankly- an awful attempt to calm you down. “Don’t tell me you were scared of a doll?”
“It was not a doll it was a clown doll,” you stated back pointedly. “And I’m not scared of dolls... Well not that doll, I’m just... Scared of clowns.”
Wonwoo laughed softly at you, his fingers taking you by your shoulders carefully.
“There aren’t any clowns here,” he assured you softly. “And there haven’t been for many many years.”
The look in his eyes made you want to believe that what he was saying was true. You felt yourself ease down a little, your fingers lightly brushing against his.
“You promise?” You asked. He nodded.
“I promise.” He assured. “In fact... I’m so confident that you will be fine, that why don’t we do a little something to pass the time hm?”
At first you completely missed the implication in Wonwoo’s voice. Assuming that he was talking about maybe reading a book together or playing a round of Among Us on his phone. But instead of that you suddenly felt a cool hand slip under your shirt. You wiggled under the touch.
“You want to do that...” You looked around the warehouse nervously. “Here?”
Wonwoo hummed, his other hand chilling the skin beneath it as he rested it against your stomach.
“Why not? There’s no one around?” Wonwoo’s voice was comforting despite the location and honestly, where your heart should be racing due to environment, your heart was racing because Wonwoo’s hands on you were completely intoxicating.
You let out a long whine.
“We still shouldn’t do it,” you whispered quietly. Wonwoo gave you a smile.
“Oh, and is that a no?” He asked softly as he lifted you up, placing you gingerly on the table. You wrapped your legs around his torso and rolled your hips against him.
“I guess I’m not really one to say no to sex with you,” you said with a grin.
Wonwoo smiled back at that, his fingers digging into your hips.
“Hm, then I guess here is the perfect place to do it.” Wonwoo dipped his head down at that, his lips brushing against the nape of your neck. You whined softly and tilted your chin upwards so that he had better access to you as he began to kiss at the warm skin there, his teeth nipping at you every once in a while.
With each little touch a shock ran through your body, sending heat right down to your core.
You whined and wrapped your arms tightly around Wonwoo’s body. Your eyes started to drift down his body, trailing over first his broad shoulders, down his chest. As you were looking at him Wonwoo smiled and took the bottom edge of his shirt, pulling it over his shirt and tossing it over onto the floor. You groaned at that, throwing your head back.
“Wonwoo we just washed that shirt,” you whined. Wonwoo just grinned at you as he discarded the rest of his clothes.
“We can wash it again.”
He leaned forward and began to kiss your neck again, effectively shutting you up. You whined and squirmed under him, but he soon grew tired of your movement and placed his hands on your hips as he kissed you to still you. You were pretty happy with just letting Wonwoo explore your body with his lips, each kiss sending a small shiver through your body- but after a while you got eager for more...
You wriggled a little under his grip again until he loosened his hands and then you brought your hand down blindly until your fingers had wrapped around his thick member. You smiled and began to slowly struck it, feeling pleasantly surprised by how turned on Wonwoo clearly was by the little moans leaving his lips with every twist of your wrist.
“Hmm, how does that feel?” You teased lightly. Wonwoo didn’t respond, instead he grunted and in one swift motion, pulled your button-up open, and threw your pants and underwear to the side.
You whined as cold air hit your body, and you wrapped your legs around Wonwoo’s waist to try and warm up. Wonwoo chuckled.
“How does that feel?” He parroted back to you. You tried to send him a glare for the reaction but before it could really hit it’s mark, you felt a finger slide into you.
Wonwoo’s fingers were cold and big and yo felt your whole body jolt a little bit when yo felt his digit slide knuckle deep into you and then curl at the end.
“I can’t believe I’m going to let you-” The finger slid out of your body before you could finish speaking about it made you whine lowly, your thighs quivering. Wonwoo didn’t think twice before slowly beginning to ease his finger in and out of you, watching in amazement as your pussy took his digit.
He made quick work, working one- two- three fingers into your pussy, until his fingers were a dripping mess and you were literally begging for his cock.
“Fine, fine, but next time be a little more patient.”
Wonwoo slid his cock deep inside of you, and at first he just sat there- HIs cock throbbing inside your dripping pussy while his chest heaved up and down with breath after breath.
And then, finally he began to slowly slide out. You groaned in pleasure, your fingers curling into his back at the friction the action caused- Only to yelp when Wonwoo suddenly pushed himself hard back into you.
He sat there again for a few moments, just listening to your whine’s and half-hearted pleas for him to continue, before slowly sliding out again and pushing himself back in.
If nothing else, Wonwoo was a bit of a sadist in that way when he fucked you. He liked to find his own pace and fuck you at it no matter how you felt about the pace. If he found pleasure in the sounds you made while he was fucking you- that was all that mattered.
And he always found pleasure in the sounds you made when he was fucking you.
Every thrust made your toes curl, and made you want to cry out as complete and utter pleasure washed over you.
You could feel yourself approaching an orgasm, and Wonwoo seemed to notice too. He opened his mouth- surely to comment on it when suddenly his eyebrows furrowed. He began to quicken his pace fucking you- he was getting closer to an orgasm as well- but he kept glancing up.
“What?” You asked. “What’s wrong?” “It’s nothing...”
His eyes flickered upwards again.
“Wonwoo-” “I just... I could have sworn I saw something.”
You twisted your body around to see, but the movement just made Wonwoo’s’ cock slam right into the spot that made you moan even louder. Your eyes slammed shut and you wrapped your arms tightly around Wonwoo’s neck.
“Wooo-”
“Oh I know what I see now,” Wonwoo said, a hitch of horror in his voice as he spoke. You looked back up at him, eyes wide in fear.
“What? What do you see?”
“A ghost,” Wonwoo responded, his voice barely above a whisper. Then, without warning his hands jumped to your sides, making your whole body lurch. You screamed and as you did, you felt yourself beginning to cum.
Wonwoo felt it too as he pinned you down by your stomach and fucked you hard through your orgasm, unloading his cum into you with a loud moan of his own. Once he had finally collapsed on top of you, you grunted and shoved him over.
“You... You fucking sadist.” Wonwoo bit out a laugh.
“Come on,” he insisted. “It was fun wasn’t it?”
You didn’t tell him it was.
“We are never doing this again.” But it was kind of fun.
And you two did do it again.

I glare at the little number at the bottom of my screen reminding me again that my grad paper is still ten words short of the required word count. I release a slow breath and start rereading it again from the top, trying to figure out where I could possibly fit another sentence, even though I can’t think of a single thing left to say on this subject. I mean, it’s psychology, so there’s plenty to say, but my brain is fried, and I would like to be done now.
I let out a frustrated noise and shut my eyes.
“Gwaenchanh-a?” Joon’s deep voice asks distractedly from above me.
“What if I just quit?”
I tilt my head back on the pillow I’m leaning against, which is resting against Joon’s thigh, and look up to see him frowning at me, his attention stolen from the book in his hands.
“What?”
“This is…stupid.” I glare at my computer screen. “I mean, it’s important, but I’m so done.”
“How much more do you have?” He squints at my paper so far.
“Ten words.”
“Ten words?” His eyes widen, and then he slowly shakes his head. “You can do ten words.”
Suddenly, the pillow I’m leaning on shifts, and I jerk upright.
“Where are you going?” I twist on the couch as he stands and sets his book on the coffee table.
“To take a shower,” he looks back at me with his arms stretched behind his head.
“But you were helping me,” I complain instantly. “Don’t leave.”
“You’re doing homework.” He gestures to my computer. “I didn’t think you needed me for that. I figured when I get out of the shower, you’ll be done and we can do something together instead.”
I’m still a little annoyed he’s abandoning me, but he also piqued my interest.
“What kind of ‘something together’ are you thinking of?”
He grins, and I hate it because it’s beautiful and dimply and way too sexy for doing homework.
“Just finish your paper.”
I open my mouth to argue and then freeze when he pulls his shirt off giving me an eyeful of his bare back.
Before he disappears into the bedroom. It takes a second before I can turn back to my homework, my body even less interested in this damn paper than earlier.
“Asshole,” I mumble, even though I don’t actually think that at all. “He could’ve just waited until I wrote the last ten words.”
Then again, if I finish fast enough, he’ll still be in the shower, which has lots of potential for doing “something together.” Something that involves orgasms, so a very good something.
Except.
I still have to come up with ten words for this paper. For fuck’s sake, since when has ten been such an impossibly large number? Setting my computer next to his book on the table, I get up and go into the kitchen for a Ramune soda. Maybe if I take a break for a second, I’ll be able to finish this paper from hell.
The soda helps, but it still takes me a million years to finish the paper. (Ok, fine, half an hour, but still.) When I’m done, I check over it one last time and make sure my sources are cited and formatted right before saving and submitting it. Then I put my computer down and twist my legs over the side of the couch to stand up.
It turns out half an hour is plenty of time for Joon to shower, because as I’m walking into the bedroom I hear the water go off. I had been planning to get in with him, but too late for that, which sucks because shower sex with Joon is always highly enjoyable.
Instead, I turn to the pile of clean clothes on the bed. Since we’re not doing it in the shower, and I’m still planning go have sex tonight, we’re going to need this to be laundry free.
“Baby?”
“Hmm?” I turn toward the bathroom.
And then a miniature earthquake happens in every part of my body, it’s epicenter right between my thighs.
He’s wearing a thin white towel around his waist. His hair is damp and sticking out everywhere, and he’s grinning again.
Oh God. I can’t feel my legs.
“Wha–” I brace myself on the mattress. “What do you want?” I whisper.
His grin GETS. BIGGER.
And then he flexes his pecs.
FLEXES THEM.
WHILE HALF NAKED AND RIGHT IN MY FACE.
“Fuck,” I hiss as wet saturates between my now-trembling legs.
They’re about to give out, but that’s probably fine, since I’m already getting on my knees anyway.
“What are you doing?” the smile in his voice fades into confusion as I drop down next to the bed.
“You started this,” I look up at him, raising my eyebrows. “Do you want me to suck you off in that doorway or do you want to sit down?”
“Wait, what?” he blinks, and I move closer to him, reaching up to grab the flimsy fabric at his hips.
“I’m gonna blow you now,” I explain softer. “Which is what you were asking for when you popped those giant tiddies like that.”
His face starts to get red and he shakes his head.
“I was just–”
“Don’t make excuses,” I cut him off, tugging on the towel, which falls free easily. “You knew what you were…”
My sentence dies as my eyes land on his hard cock. Fully erect, lined with veins—the thickest one running right up the underside—the pink tip glistening with precum, tan shaft visibly throbbing… Fuck, I can practically feel the heat coming off of it against my face.
My mouth is literally watering. Shutting my eyes—even though the image of it is seared into my eyelids—I swallow and lick my lips before opening them again and reaching out with one hand.
“You know you don’t have to–”
I pause and look up at him, my hand hovering less than an inch away.
“I want to,” I tell him firmly, “and you want me to, don’t you?”
He coughs out a hoarse, “yes,” which is all I need to hear.
Brushing my fingertips along the feverish length, I lean forward and kiss the side of it close to the base. He grunts, and I see him brace an arm on the doorframe out of the corner of my eye before I look back at what I’m doing. I curl my whole hand around his shaft and begin sliding my fist up and down, kissing his leaking tip.
His hips buck suddenly, and he groans out my name, which is my cue to move things along. Letting go of him, I lean in again and start licking him all over. One of my hands goes to his hip to steady myself, while I use the other to tease his balls and run the edge of my fingernail up and down his shaft. When he’s slick all over, I sit back and blow a faint stream of air over him.
“Fuck, baby,” he bites out. “Oh God.”
I look up at him, meeting his eyes as I take his bulbous head between my lips. I suck on it gently before taking a little more, releasing some, and then taking more. I repeat it until I’m sliding almost all of him in and out of my mouth.
“Take it all, baby,” he gasps, and I wince.
I can’t take all of it or I’ll gag, which won’t be sexy at all. To make up for what I can’t fit, I take the remaining inches in my hand and start squeezing and twisting my fist as I begin sucking on him.
“Ssibal!”
His free hand slams into the doorframe, which he’s now gripping both sides of as I swirl my tongue around his swollen tip. Releasing him for a second to take a breath.
“Don’t stop,” he winces.
Nodding, I guide him into my mouth again before sliding my hands around his thighs to grab his ass.
He swears through his teeth, and I look up to see a vein popping in his neck. Warmth spreads in my chest, knowing I’m making him feel good. It also spreads in other places since having his dick in my mouth makes me feel good too.
I start sucking again, gently, dragging things out. Using his ass for leverage, I slowly begin taking more of him as I slide him in and out between my lips.
“More,” he whines at the same time his cheeks clench in my hands, forcing his cock further into my mouth.
I let out an involuntary moan around his thick shaft, and suddenly his hand is in my hair, holding me still as his hips jerk. My legs almost give out as I suck on him while he fucks my mouth.
Fuck. It’s so big. My eyes are watering.
He stops suddenly, pulling out, and I gasp in surprise.
“Why did you do that?” I hiss.
“You’re crying.”
My eyes widen, and I glare at him. “So?”
His face, twisted with arousal, turns into a frown.
“I’m gonna hurt you.”
“If you take this dick away from me, I’ll show you crying,” I snap at him.
“What?”
I sigh, and stroke the skin of his ass.
“Joon, just let me finish you off. I know you’re close.”
After a second, he nods, and I instantly pull him against me again, taking all of him in that I can before sucking deep.
“Son of a bitch!”
I continue sucking as I slide him in and out. He only lasts a few second before his cock twitches and suddenly hot streams of fluid are hitting the back of my throat. I focus on the heat and on swallowing it all, my hands holding on firmly to his ass as his hips jerk. When he’s spent, I release him slowly, wiping my mouth on the back of my hand.
“You okay?” I ask softly, climbing to my feet on quaking legs.
“Ne,” he murmurs. “Better than okay.”
“Good.”
“Now it’s your turn.”
I blink and, before I can ask what he means, my back is in the bed on top of the clean laundry.
“No, we can’t have sex here!”
“What?” His face twists with confusion. “This is our bed. This is where we have sex.”
“There’s clean clothes all over it.”
“I can fix that.”
And then before I can stop him, he’s shoved all the laundry onto the floor.
“Kim Namjoon!” I scramble to stand up. “Are you kidding me?”
“What? Now they’re not on the bed.”
“Now they’re dirty! Again! I just–”
The sudden smack surprises me, and I gasp looking over my shoulder.
“Did you just spank me?”
“Yes.”
The heat of it slides between my legs, and I bite my lip, turning my head to hide my blushing face.
“Did you like it?” he asks quieter.
“Mmhmm,” I nod, avoiding his eyes.
“Get on the bed, baby.”
I let out a shaky breath, forgetting the clothes on the floor, and climb back onto the mattress.
“It’s your turn,” he repeats his words from earlier. “I just came, so I’ll need a few minutes before I can go again.”
“That makes sense.”
“So until then, I’m going to take care of you, okay?”
“Okay.”
“First, I gotta get you naked,” he says in a deeper tone that does fantastic things to me.
“I can help with that.”
Rising up on my knees, I pull my top over my head and throw it on the floor. He reaches around to undo my bra, while I start pushing my leggings down past my waist. He flips me suddenly, and I let out a sharp cry as I land again. Taking the band of my pants in his large hands, he removes them and my underwear all at once.
“Goddamn, you’re beautiful,” he murmurs, and a kaleidoscope of butterflies erupts in my belly.
His eyes travel over my nakedness, and I look away, afraid I might cry if I see the look of awe on his face a moment longer.
The kiss surprises me. His soft, perfect lips on mine. He does it again, and this time, I kiss him back, sliding my fingers in his wet hair, holding him to me.
He moves away, and I reluctantly let him go.
“Okay, come here.”
I blink as I sit up, watching him lie back on the pillows.
“What are you doing now?”
He leans forward and grabs me under my arms, hauling me over him until I’m straddling his waist.
“Like I said. It’s your turn.” He flicks his eyes up toward the headboard before meeting mine again, and a shiver runs down my spine. “Knees in the pillows, baby.”
My heart trips in my chest, and I take a quick breath before rising up on my knees and moving up the bed. His large hands slide up my thighs as I move over his shoulders, my skin immediately breaking out into goosebumps. Finally, my knees sink into the pillows on either side of his head, and I rest my hands on the headboard.
“How’s this?” I ask, looking down at him.
“Perfect,” he says softly.
One of his fingers trails through the wet between my legs, and I start panting. His large hands move to the outside of my hips, and suddenly I feel his hot breath moving over me. Oh God. A fresh ripple of heat tears through my pussy and I feel his eyes watching it. My fingers flex around the wood slats, and I whimper. Fuck, he hasn’t even touched me yet, and—
His lips brush my lips, just for a second, and I let out a soft whimper. Then his fingers are there, teasing and pulling at me, making me squirm above him.
“Joon,” I whine at him, my voice threaded with need.
“Patience.”
I can practically hear his dimply, sexy grin.
“You ready?” he asks as his fingertips curl in, brushing the insides of my thighs, every word sending a rush of air over my most sensitive place.
“Y-yes,” I whisper, but the word is barely out of my mouth before his hands lock on my hips and pull me down, my drenched sex pressed right against his face.
I gasp at the feel of his lips on me, his damn grin touching me right there. He kisses me, his soft lips puckering against my wetness, before his fingers slide around to my ass, which he grips firmly, and then his tongue is on me. I moan at the immediate heat of it, lapping at my soaked slit and toying with my clit. I barely resist the urge to grind on him.
“Fuck me,” he groans against me, making me moan, “so fucking sweet.”
“Don’t—Don’t say that,” I pant. “It’s cheating.”
He’s not allowed to be sweet during sex because I’ll cry, and crying during sex isn’t the stuff orgasms are made of.
“Mmm.”
Two of his long fingers slide into my pussy, and I feel my legs quake. He twists them as he removes them, causing my walls to squeeze acutely.
“Joon, please…”
“Baby, I got you,” he murmurs.
His hand moves back to my ass where he squeezes both of my cheeks in his palms. Suddenly, his lips part against me and he sucks deep. My back arches and a whimper tears out of my throat.
Then he’s just sucking. On everything. My lips, my clit, my thighs. His fingers dig into my ass, and I feel heat gathering in my belly. His teeth scrape against me, and I breathe his name like a prayer, leaning my head against my hands.
I can’t hold out much longer.
My hips move on their own, rocking against him as he sucks and licks, his fingers flexing around my ass.
I’m feeling too much. It’s everything all at once. Everywhere.
His tongue dips in for a split second, and I whine. I feel him smiling again.
“Kim Namjoon, this is–”
And then his tongue is filling me. Thrusting in and out while he continues biting and sucking. The fingers of one large hand slide around to toy with my clit. I can’t stop it. My control shatters, and I press down against him, grinding against his gorgeous face. He grunts again, this time inside me, and I cry out. Two of his fingers find me, and he doesn’t miss a beat, blending the thrusts of his tongue with those of his hand. His teeth scrape over my lips at the same time his fingers roll my clit, and it’s over.
I’m coming in his mouth.
My entire body locks up as I shout his name. I grip the headboard so tightly my knuckles go white while the massive orgasm rips me apart. He doesn’t stop his perfect torture until he’s sucked every drop of pleasure out of my body, at which point he eases me up onto my knees, where he leans up just far enough to place one kiss on each of my thighs and then one last one against my sated lips before pulling me off of him and settling me down on my back in the space next to him.
My heart is racing, and I still haven’t caught my breath. With one hand I reach back to feel the skin of my butt.
“I think you bruised my ass,” I announce softly.
“What?”
He jerks up in the bed and cranes his head to see my backside.
“I’m not sure, but…you were squeezing pretty hard.”
“Oh my God. I didn’t–”
“Don’t apologize,” I cut him off. “I liked it. It was hot.”
He blinks, and sits back a little. “Oh.”
I press my lips together at how cute and sweet he is when my eyes catch on his dick. It’s hard again. Clearly, he enjoys having his mouth on me as much as I do. God, it’s all swollen and heavy and begging to be touched.
My pussy clenches, and I feel myself getting wet again instantly. I need it inside me.
“Joon,” I murmur, my voice sounding strangled.
“Ne?” he looks up at me and then his eyes follow mine down to his mammoth cock.
His eyebrows rise, and he looks back at me.
“See something you like?”
“I see something I want,” I reply softly. “Are you gonna give it to me?”
“Absolutely.”
He grins and reaches for me, sliding his arm around my waist and turning us in the bed so I’m on my back, my head in the pillows, with him hovering over me. I open my legs for him automatically, his hips falling through, his feverish dick grazing the skin of my thigh.
I gasp, my hands reaching up for his shoulders as his head lowers to my ear.
“You’re so pretty,” he whispers, his lips gliding over the skin of my neck. “I love touching you like this.”
His hands slide from my knees up my thighs, making me whimper as his fingertips graze my swollen lips before moving to my hips and up my sides, over my ribs.
“Joon…”
“I love this…” His mouth kisses a trail over my jaw. “And these.” Both my collarbones. “And…these.”
His large palms slide over my boobs, my nipples puckering against them instantly as I moan. His thumbs drag over the erect points, and my back arches off the bed.
“I love how sensitive they are,” he goes on, his mouth kissing down the line between them. “Especially when I do this.”
His lips close over the peak of the left one, and my body goes rigid. One of my hands grabs a fistful of the sheets, while the other clasps his head to me. I moan, and feel a rush of fluid between my legs, trickling down my thighs. He sucks gently before releasing it only for his tongue to dart out, the tip swirling around my areola before the flat of it laps at me. He leans back, and I start panting as the cool air against the residual heat of his tongue only makes my nipple tighten more.
“And this one.”
He moves to the other side and repeats everything. My heart is pounding when he sits back, and I’m so wet I think there’s probably a wet spot on the sheets, but I’m way too turned on to check.
He reaches for them again, his thumbs aimed for my painfully hard nipples, when I reach out and grab his wrists.
“I’ll come,” I wheeze at him.
“What?” he blinks.
“If you keep playing with my nipples, I’ll come. I’m serious.”
“Really?”
I jerk my head forward in a nod, and his eyes widen.
“Fuck, baby, I knew you were responsive, but I didn’t realize you were that responsive.”
“Just…put your damn dick in me already,” I huff, pouting.
“Oh? You mean this dick?”
Leaning forward, he puts an elbow in the mattress, taking his weight, so his face is hovering inches from mine. He reaches the other down between us and takes himself in his hand, carefully moving the engorged head between my lips.
“Yeah,” I choke out. “That’s the one.”
He presses his lips to my temple as he slowly moves the tip along my dripping slit.
“Fuck, you’re soaked,” he mumbles against my skin.
I start to tell him to hurry up when he catches on my entrance. I stop breathing as he begins to push in, my fingers on his shoulders digging into his skin.
Oh God. He’s so big. I twist my head to the side and squeeze my eyes shut as my pussy stretches around him.
“Damn, you’re tight,” he groans.
He sinks in another inch, and I bite down on my lip, but a tiny whimper still slips out.
“You okay?” he asks softly, and I turn to look at him.
“Yeah,” I murmur breathlessly. “I’m good.”
“You sounded like you’re in pain.” He frowns. “Do I need to pull out and finger you some? I thought you were wet enough, but–”
“It’s not that.” I shake my head. “Your dick is just so big,” I remind him.
“Oh…yeah. Right.” He smirks, and I see him try to hide it. Dork.
“Is…Is it in all the way?” I try to see, but his giant pecs are in my way.
His smile fades, and he looks back down at me. “There’s a little more. If you can take it.”
“I always take it, Joon,” I remind him softly. “I just need a few minutes to adjust to it.”
He nods and strokes the skin behind my ear with his thumb.
“Tell me when you want more.”
“Okay.” I shut my eyes for a second, before I tap his side. “I’m ready.”
He pushes in the last few inches, and I moan at the feel of him filling me completely. His thick, hard shaft inside me, his balls kissing my lips.
“Still okay?”
“Mmhmm.”
“Keep going?”
“Yeah, just go slow at first.”
He kisses my lips before he carefully pulls out and slides back in. I hiss at the feel of his turgid, veiny flesh dragging against my sensitive walls. My knees come up on either side of him as he does it again. And again.
“Faster,” I whisper.
His hips rock against me, steadily increasing in speed, my pussy squeezing with every thrust. My arms slide around his shoulders, and I lift my lips to his ear.
“Fuck me, baby.”
“You sure?” he groans.
I lift my legs and curl them around his back. “I’m sure.”
His restraint snaps, and I cry out as he begins pounding into me, my arms automatically locking around his neck. He starts thrusting fast and hard, his balls slapping against me. My body rocks with his rhythm causing my breasts to slide against his pecs, the friction sending tiny bursts of pleasure through my nipples. My moans get louder and longer each time his giant cock enters me.
Suddenly, his free hand slides under my ass, lifting me, enabling me to take more of him.
“Namjoon!” I scream at the feel of it, my head flying back against the pillow.
Oh God. Everything he’s doing is so intense. I feel like my pussy is going to explode. I’m so close to coming I can almost taste it…
“Baby, I’m close,” he grunts.
“Yeah.”
“Need you to come.”
“I…I…”
He drops my ass and his fingers slide around between us, one of them going straight to my clit.
My lungs lock up and my entire body bows off the bed as my orgasm crashes into me. My legs squeeze tight to his hips, my heels digging into his ass, as shocks of pleasure run down my thighs, through my belly, and into my nipples. My pussy is spasming uncontrollably as his thick shaft continues to drive into me.
“You coming?” he asks hoarsely, his hand between my legs still rubbing against me.
“Mmhmm,” I whimper, still in the throes of it, but he must understand me because immediately his hand disappears, going to my hip where he grips me tight as he begins slamming into me even harder than before.
“Joon!” I moan, my orgasm rolling over into a new one.
Suddenly, his thrusts get erratic and he lets out a long groan, his head flying back as his cock jerks, spurting inside me as he comes. When he’s spent, he collapses on top of me, my body still trembling from the ferocity of my own climax.
After my heart stops racing, I drop my legs from around his waist, and run my fingers down his spine.
“I can’t breathe,” I whisper against the skin of my chest.
“Sorry.” He lifts up slowly, and I reach up to slide my fingers into his hair.
“Don’t pull out yet,” I murmur.
“No?”
“I like being full of you,” I whisper. “And I don’t want to give that up yet.”
“Hmm. Okay.”
His fingers run along the edge of my jaw, and I tilt my head to the side.
“Do you feel good?” he asks gruffly, his hand sliding behind my head, his thumb stroking the side of my neck.
“I feel fantastic.”
“Choayo.”
Then he lowers his lips to mine, and I inhale the taste of him. My fingers slide into his hair as I kiss him back. I will never be tired of this, the feeling of his perfect lips moving over mine, his tongue sliding against mine, the taste of him… it’s everything.
He keeps kissing me until we’re both out of breath, and he’s starting to get soft inside me.
“Gotta pull out now,” he mutters.
“Mm.”
I bite my lip as he slides out, my pussy suddenly feeling strange after being so full for so long.
“Are you tired?” He looks down at me as he shifts into the space beside me.
“Not really. Sated for sure, but not sleepy.”
“We can watch something on Netflix if you want.”
“The Good Place?”
“Sounds good.” He grins. “Let me just get a rag to clean you up first.”
“Please and thank you.”
He leans down as he climbs over me to kiss my lips again before exiting the bed and going into the bathroom. He comes back with a warm washcloth and runs it gently between my legs and over my sticky thighs before tossing it in the sink and getting back in bed next to me.
“Give me the remote?” He looks over at me from where he’s fixing his pillows behind his back.
“Here.” I grab the one from my nightstand and hand it to him.
He switches it to his left hand and starts pushing buttons to get to the show while his right arm hooks around my waist and hauls me against his side.
“Miss me already?” I whisper, as I snuggle against him.
“I always miss you when I’m not touching you,” he mumbles without looking at me.
“Oh.” That was sweet.
His hand slides down my back to curl around my ass, squeezing one of my cheeks between his large fingers.
Okay that’s less sweet. But I’m not complaining.
He sets the remote down, and I press my cheek to his chest, sliding my arm around his waist. He clears his throat, and I glance up at him before looking back at the T.V.
He doesn’t move for a whole minute, and I frown and look up at him again.
“Joon, are you okay?”
“Fuck this.”
I blink and stare at him as he suddenly slides out of bed and goes over to the pile of clean clothes he threw on the floor.
“What are you doing?”
“Getting, uh…aha. Here.” He throws something at me, and I flinch before catching what appears to be his favorite Kapital blue t-shirt.
“What is this?” I frown.
“A shirt. Put it on.”
“Why?”
“You’re…distracting.”
I raise my eyebrows at him. Standing there naked and sexy with muscles everywhere. And somehow I’m the one who’s distracting?
“Just put it on,” he sighs.
“Okay.” I slip it over my head. “Doesn’t this have matching pants?”
“Yes, but you don’t need those.”
“Oh? My ass isn’t distracting you?”
He immediately grabs the pants off the floor and steps into them.
“They’re for me. So you won’t be distracted.”
I look down at where his dick is barely hidden behind the soft fabric.
“I’m not sure how effective those are going to be.”
He sighs, and I press my lips together.
“Your ass,” he says in a low tone as he climbs back on the bed, “is very distracting, by the way.”
“Then why–”
“But regardless, I still want unrestricted access to it.”
His arm slides around me again as he leans back against his pillows, his giant palm returning to its place on my ass cheek and grabbing a handful.
“Okay,” I murmur, shifting my knee over his thigh. “You should start this episode over because I missed all of it.”
“Yeah. Me too.”
He grabs the remote again and goes back to the beginning while I relax into him, the softness of his shirt and his steady breathing making me feel calm all over.
“Joon,” I look up as he pulls the sheets up to our waists.
“Yeah?”
“I love you,” I whisper.
He blinks before bending his neck to kiss my forehead.
“I love you, too, baby.”
Then he slides his free arm around me, and I melt into him a little more before settling in to watch our show.

A Bundle of Crimson Roses (Pt.3)
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4
Pairing: Chuuya Nakahara x Reader
Warnings: Cursing , Alcohol , Suggestive Themes , Gore , Blood, Violence
Word Count: 6790
Y/N) stood at the back of the gazebo, her body leaned atop the white wooden rail as she stared out across the well maintained garden. Flowers twisted in the moonlight and swayed in the gentle breeze, rose bushes stood without a branch out of place and recently pruned, and the fountain brought a continuous stream of sound. These little details had been the focus of her attention, the only thing dragging her mind away from the bodiless head sitting on the ground behind her.
She hadn’t brought herself to do anything with it yet, leaving it there in hopes that maybe it was just a hallucination, but the longer she stood the more the realization came crashing down. In her time under the Port Mafia she’d seen, and done, horrible things that were considerably worse than this. Even so, she was shocked that someone would risk their life to get the corpse only to leave its head behind as a warning.
That’s what this was. A warning.
A warning to stay away. A warning to not track these people down. Whoever had been responsible for this murder was dangerous and they wanted the mafia to know that. They not only created a drug that could remove someone’s ability, but they went through all the trouble of tracking the victim down to keep this information from them. It was a basic strategy but well thought for this situation. As long as they left behind as little traceable evidence as possible then it would be near impossible to find the culprit.
“Fuck. That sure explains the missing body.” (Y/N) had lost herself in thoughts of the situation and hadn’t noticed Chuuya’s approach. She didn’t bother to turn around and listened as he approached her, his steps were shallow light as he took the longest route around the head. After a moment she felt him beside her, his arms crossed and laid on the railing. “You should have told me you found something, I was still searching the house!”
He huffed a little as he spoke, eyes focused ahead just as hers were. “Sorry, I guess I got caught up thinking about something. I haven’t had a partner in quite some time.”
“Tch. You don’t have to apologize, I’m not used to a partner either. Last time I had one, it was that shitty Dazai.”
(Y/N) chuckled, her grim face shifting to one with a slight smile. She shook her head at the mention of the suicidal man, he was quite the topic in the Port Mafia, even after he abandoned them. “I was never that close with Dazai, but I knew of him through a friend. It would seem many people perceive him in different ways.”
“Many people don’t like him, and I couldn’t agree with those people more.” Chuuya turned to look at (Y/N), finally acknowledging that she had at some point turned to face him. Her (E/C) eyes met his and he could see that glint in them, not the one of seriousness from this morning, but the playfulness he’d seen in her last night.
“Who are you Chuuya Nakahara?”
The question was a strange question, similar to the ones he’d been asked when they first met only twenty-four hours before. “That’s a dumb question for someone Mori spoke so highly of.”
“I’m no fool Chuuya Nakahara, I’ve looked into the case files of almost every high ranking member of the Port Mafia. You are the person with the least amount of information. I was able to get more from Mori’s own public file than your private one.” (Y/N) backed away from the ledge and took a few steps away from Chuuya, carefully watching her movements to stay a good distance from the head. “I’m working with someone who I know nothing about. Mori knows you’re loyal to him, but I have no reason to believe that you wouldn’t shoot me if the opportunity provided itself.”
“Now why would I do that? Mori made you my partner, and I’m not going to disobey a direct order from him.” Chuuya scoffed and turned to face her. “Plus you’re one to talk about minimal information when your file doesn’t exist. I may not be the most strategic person in this mafia, but I do like knowing who I’m dealing with.”
“It would seem we’ve hit a roadblock then. My files, both public and private, were burned upon request and I assume the missing information from yours is also ash.” (Y/N) stepped towards Chuuya, their eyes locked in a challenge with one another. Her eyes changed rapidly to a dark piercing gaze, as if the trust she’d gained for him had drained at a rapid pace. “I have no doubt that our partnership will be beneficial in this case, but if neither of us trust one another then I see no reason for us to be friends.”
~x~
Chuuya’s eyes remained glued to the road ahead, his ears honed in on the quiet breathing of the seat diagonal to his own. If he focused he could see the faint outline of a person in his peripheral vision, but their body still remained shrouded in darkness. (Y/N) had chosen to sit in the back of his car, to the seat opposite of her was a bloody bag securely buckled down.
They hadn’t spoken even a word after their show down in the gazebo, perhaps newfound apprehension had been built between both parties. Few people knew of Chuuya’s past, but he understood that the mystery made any relations he had with another person difficult. For all (Y/N) knew he was a treacherous fiend that would stab her at moments notice. Though that statement applied for him as well, he had done his digging in the hours before he’d seen her standing alone outside and the stories of her did not disappoint.
The woman without a face, that was the constant whenever they mentioned her. He hadn’t a clue what it meant but whatever it was made her dangerous. Far more than most people of the mafia. Tidbits of information wormed their way into his mind, some of which were likely untrue, but the more he learned the less he really knew. From what he’d been told she’d joined the mafia at a fairly young age, just a little bit before the Dragon’s Head Conflict, and during the conflict was when her true strength had come to light. Mori promoted her just after the whole fight started, but he told no one but Daza and a few people who knew of her.
“Tomorrow I propose we go to the scene of the fight. We could likely find some bullet casings or leftover blood. It could be a lead for where to find these people.” Chuuya could see in his eyes that even though she was speaking to him, she hadn’t turned away from the window.
“We could go in the morning and-”
“Afternoon.” She cut him off. “I have business to attend tomorrow morning and I would much rather not be forced to reschedule. My apologies for cutting you off, but please continue.”
Chuuya rolled his eyes but made no comment on her rude interruption. “Then we can meet up tomorrow afternoon; Do you need a ride?”
(Y/N) hummed to herself for a moment before answering him. “If it isn’t too much trouble. My business is at a bakery on Southwest Street: Kim’s Kreamy Delights. They have some of the best sweets I’ve ever tried, I’m a big fan of their Dasik, but Mrs.Kim only makes them on Lunar New Year. When it’s not around that time, I usually get a kkwabaegi.”
“You seem well acquainted with sweet treats, I assume you know that they aren’t healthy.” Chuuya’s comment was somewhat judgmental, but it seemed to fly over (Y/N)’s head. Her mind still focused on the warm treats she would get whenever she was in town.
“I know that, but I do things for the enjoyment of myself. We are members of a mafia Chuuya, I’ve never expected to live a long life, nor a happy one. If you wish to judge then do so but I will not be changing my habits based on your criticism.” He had thought she hadn’t noticed the backhanded rudeness he’d displayed but it seems as though she had.
There was a strange silence that fluttered through the air of the car as the light of the city finally made its way through the car's windows. Slowly the trees on the outer rim of the city turned to buildings and the streetlamps illuminated the faces, every post passing by in a fleeting second before another one replaced the eerie orange light. Chuuya’s car sped down the street, not one to abide by normal street laws, and every sharp turn brought them closer to the mafia’s headquarters.
After a couple of minutes he pulled up in front of the towering building, its floors spiralling upwards into the stars. Several windows could be seen alive with a blazing light, not a strange sight considering many of the mafia’s business matters occurred during this time of night. Usually Chuuya would be in there monitoring what went on in every crevice of that building, but instead he was heading home to an empty apartment where he’d be receiving regularly spaced messages updating him on what was going on. It had been Mori’s order for him to get some rest, but the work of a mafia member was never done when night fell.
“Are you sure I can’t drop you off at the place you’re staying at? I don’t mind driving a little further.” Chuuya had extended his offer not because he was kind, but because Mori had been clear that someone should be looking out for this woman. He’d gone as far as assigning Hirotsu to monitor her, there had to be a reason he’d want someone of such importance to watch out for someone as capable as an executive.
“I’ll be fine, but thank you for the offer. There’s some papers I want to take a look at before going to my residence.” (Y/N) opened the door of the car, bringing both her legs out onto the sidewalk with a gentle click of her heels. She hesitated before turning back around. Her hand latched onto the top of the sheet that they had used as a handle and dragged the head towards her. “I truly am sorry for my words earlier. One of my bad habits is trying to forget my past, and I let that get to me. If it’s okay, I would like to take back my rude words.”
That was surprising. In the garden, (Y/N) had been so serious and gave off the same feeling that Mori gave off whenever someone questioned his authority. She was authoritative when she spoke of her burned files and her going back on her word of their relationship being nothing more than partners was something he hadn't expected. Thirty minutes ago he’d fully been prepared for her to be just another person he sees at work, but yet here she was apologizing. Every time they spoke it was like talking to another person, but this is the one who he’d met that had no apprehensions brought about by their job; This was the woman who was behind the mask of the mafia.
“I’m not one for friends.” (Y/N) had tried to hide the slight slump of her shoulders at his words, but he noticed the slight change before she stepped out of his car. She closed the door without turning around and began to walk towards the building's entrance. Chuuya rolled the window down and called out. “But I would like to try one of those kkwabaegi you were telling me about.”
She stopped her motions and turned to face him with the smallest of smiles on her face. “You butchered that name.”
“Oh shut up!” He snapped before rolling up the window and speeding off. (Y/N) watched as his car went down the street and eventually turned the corner. Her (E/C) bleary with a tiredness she’d held for so long. They were far from friends, but in the mafia did anyone really have a friend? A life like theirs was not made for relationships greater than the ones they formed at work and that was a fact (Y/N) had learned a long time ago. She didn’t expect anything from Chuuya, but she hoped that maybe when this was all over that there might be someone who wants her to stick around.
“So are you enjoying your new partner?” The voice was deep and sudden, there had been no one around moments before. (Y/N) showed no surprise of this person's newfound presence; She had known the moment he had appeared behind her. “The kids aren’t mad, but they are expecting you to take them out for ice cream. You’d better not disappoint them or I’ll pour all your wine into a bush.”
“Oh come on Isaac, I may not be the most caring person in the world but I wouldn’t disappoint those kids. Not again.” (Y/N) turned to face her friend. Isaac stood with his head turned up as he let out a puff of air and watched as it turned white and then disappeared. He wore the same outfit he wore whenever he was bartending: A dark gray button up tucked into a pair of pitch black jeans, simple but with the added spice of five undone buttons to reveal a well sculpted body beneath. He was a person of habit. “Did you just finish a shift?”
“No? What gave you that idea?” They walked side by side to one another, Isaac’s hand buried in his pocket as they approached the building.
(Y/N) stopped in her tracks, a deadpan expression replacing the sly smile she’d worn moments before. “You cannot tell me that outfit is the extent of your closet.”
“What the hell is that supposed to mean!” Isaac snapped, hand pulled from his pocket as he balled his fingers into a fist. “I have better fashion than you Ms.I-Dress-Like-An-Cubicle-Worker.”
“Oh quit it, you’re acting so childish, Isaac.” (Y/N) shook her head and walked into the building, neither of the guards questioning her presence much. Her comrade followed her lead and stayed close as though fearful of being found for being out of place. “I thought better of you.”
“Oh shut it you hag, let’s just get this over with.”
~x~
“I doubt there’s anything left at the scene of the fight. Especially if you say it's a city owned warehouse.” Isaac sighed and fell back on his chair before continuing. “They’re easy to access and I doubt that someone willing to go through all the trouble of disposing the body wouldn’t clear that place out.”
Mori sat at his usual spot at the head of the table, silent as he listened to both (Y/N) and Isaac shoot ideas off one another. He seemed enthralled in his own thoughts as he considered a plan of action. They all sat close to one another, Mori at the head of his table with one of them sitting in a chair on either side of the table. So close there was no need for their voices to be raised and that meant that anyone outside would have a hard time listening in.
It was strange for someone so strong and hated like Mori to allow an outsider like Isaac to ever be near him, but after all Mori had done for them both he trusted them more than a lot of the members of the mafia. (Y/N) was his executive and by extension Isaac was loyal, though he would not hold his tongue around him like she would.
“(Y/N), you must have an assumption as to who is behind this. Please clarify who it is.” Mori wanted to hear all the information, even if it might be wrong.
“Is that really even a question, Ougai? You’ve had the same assumption considering you didn’t only bring me back here, but you called a meeting with my old partner.” (Y/N) was apprehensive to continue, her idea had a lot of backing and would likely be true. For now it was only that, an idea, but the more they investigate the closer she’ll get to the life she used to have. “I think it was them. That old man is smart and a drug like this isn’t far from something he’d do.”
Isaac gritted his teeth, trying to find an argument for why it wouldn’t be them. Anything to keep the idea of them coming back out of his mind. They’d spent so much effort to escape their past and join Mori that even a possibility of the past coming back to haunt them was pestilent. “There wasn’t anything left with the part of the body they left behind. It’s protocol to leave them with every single body, you know that.”
“Of course I do, but there are exceptions to that rule! Given a direct order from him you don’t have to-”
“And if it is absolutely impossible, I know.” Isaac cut her off to continue his idea. “Something like this, so large, the old man wouldn’t want to let anyone take credit for it. He wants people to know it's them so they’ll be afraid.”
“There were roses in her garden.”
“You said she had a garden full of flowers of all kinds.” He argued back, hand hitting the table a bit too harshly. “A couple of roses bushes doesn’t fucking matter!”
“Enough.” Mori interjected. He’d taken both Isaac and (Y/N) in at a young age, but they both had a tough time before he found them. They may not have been together these past few years but they are still better partners than any two people who ever graced the mafia. Above all Mori sought to keep things neutral between them both so that they wouldn’t say anything they’d regret when things calmed down. “We have to think rationally and take a moment to talk it over. Neither of you are foolish, I’ve seen the things you can accomplish together but tensions are high right now. For now we assume it’s  one of the recent organizations who have stood against us.”
It was silent for a moment as the pair thought things over. They’d lived a long life with shared pains but they both had managed to come out better for it. Isaac was raising five kids and smiled everyday as though it were his last, on the other hand (Y/N) buried herself in work and drowned herself with expensive delicacies to erase it all. They were like family and neither of them would blame the other for how things went after Oda’s death.
“If it’s not?” Isaac’s voice was low and gravelly as though he were on the verge of tears. It was weak and pitiful, but it explained exactly how they were feeling. “What if it is them, Mori? Do we fight them? We won’t win that.”
“It isn’t them.” (Y/N) cut in before Mori could say a word. “It can’t be. We went through so much to slaughter them during the Dragon’s Head Conflict. The numbers don’t lie, nearly every branch was pruned because of us. To come back now, and with enough people to even consider facing the Port Mafia, is impossible.”
Isaac slid his chair back and stood up, dark eyes more gloomy than they were glossy. “You seem to forget (Y/N), pruning is done to help a plant grow.”
~x~
Chuuya looked from his phone to the fancy hotel he’d parked across the street from. His eyes held hesitation as he scanned across the messages on his device one final time. Part of him wanted to ignore the messages and just go home, but doing this had become a ritual. A guilty pleasure that helped calm his riled nerves.
‘I don’t have work tonight if you want to drop by our special spot.’
‘C’mon Chuuya, at least let me know if you’re going to show up. I need to know if I should open the champagne sooner rather than later.’
‘Fine. I’ll be waiting, but until then let me leave you with a special present.”
‘Attachment: 1 Image’
Chuuya’s eyes scanned across the image once again, to say it was scandalous was an understatement. There was no face presented in the image, instead the picture captured a woman’s body adorned in a set of elegant hand-woven red lace lingerie. He wasn’t unfamiliar with the outfit considering he’d been the one to take it off her many times before.
Their relationship was nothing more than a late at night call whenever they needed to relieve some stress. Neither of them knew much of the other, their names had come the first night they’d grabbed a drink and their sexual desires came soon after. Though there were a few things he noticed: Her schedule was not linear, he’d get spontaneous messages throughout the month asking if he were free. Most of the time he could clear just a bit of time and make his way here to meet with her for a few hours.
They’d been doing this for months at this point and he still couldn’t wrap his head around the stupidity of his actions. Everytime he said he would end things off and never see her again, then as though he were wrapped around her finger he would be back here: Car parked in the same spot as always and his route to the room the same. A member of the mafia took a risk two or three times a month to visit a woman whose life he hadn’t a clue of.
Using his memory, Chuuya made his way through the lobby, passing by a clerk who offered a knowing nod in his direction. It was the same thing time after time but that familiarity was something he clung to. No one questioned him. No one asked why he did something. No one looked to him for answers. It was the opposite of what he did for work, but it was so much more freeing.
Taking the elevator up, Chuuya watched as the red numbers changed, going up one by one until finally the number fifteen. One final chime echoed through the metal cage and the doors slid open into a long spiraling hallway. Three steps out of the elevator, three doors to the right, and on his left. That path he’d memorized after his third meeting with this strange woman.
With a deep breath Chuuya tried to prepare himself to end this debacle that could become scurrilous if things were to go wrong. He opened the door and slid into the room quietly as though trying to go unnoticed. The sound of a running shwoer gently swayed throughout the room and he knew that she was getting ready for what she presumed to be his imminent arrival. He slid off his cape and hung it on the coat rack besides the door, his hat following suit.
The water shut off and a voice called out to him from somewhere beyond sight. “Oh Chuuya~”
Her voice was sweet as it called, drawing out the a at the end of his name to grab his attention. Getting the message he walked from the main room into the small, but still fairly large, bedroom. There she stood, body wrapped in a white towel that barely covered the most private portions of her body.
Alberta Einstein. She was a beauty to behold; her almond shaped eyes holding the deepest most dark irises you might ever see as if they were shadows coming to life with no light reflecting off of them. Long  white hair would usually be flowing down her back and sway gently every time she took a step. Her figure was lean but she seemed to have curves in places that would make any man fall in a matter of moments. Now, standing bare in a bath towel, she was ravishing. Droplets of water dripping from her body and onto the floor, running from her neck down to her towel, and more littering the floor of the bathroom.
“I wasn’t sure you would show.” Her feet sunk into the carpet as she walked towards Chuuya, imprints of water marking her chosen pathway. Once close enough, her hand danced around his top button before easily sliding it undone. Slowly she moved to the second button and slowly began to undo it as well, but she hesitated. “Something wrong?”
Her eyes danced up to meet his, a shade so dark that his light blue eyes could never fathom their depths. “We should stop this.”
“You’re quite right, Chuuya. This relationship is going no where and it never will: We’ve been having casual sex for months but neither of us have caught an ounce of feelings.” She leaned into his lips, heat fanning across his face as she spoke, still continuing to fiddle with his buttons. “But isn’t that the fun part, my dearest Nakahara? Life isn’t about love even if people wish it was; It’s about enjoying yourself so much that you can’t possibly find it in your soul to frown.”
She leaned in and finally met his lips in the softest most gentle kiss she’d ever given to him. Her lips were warm as she pressed her body flush against his. With quick hands she undid the buttons at a much faster pace than the one she’d set before. Chuuya knew better than to let her do this once again but he quickly melted into her touch. Their lips entwined with one another as her mouth parted to let a gentle moan escape.
“I must say your sexual prowess surprises me. For such a short man you truly are skilled in bed.” She taunted his height, attempting to mask it with a compliment. They’d played this game time and time before.
“Tch. Same as always Ally, crude and judgemental so much so that you can’t even acknowledge your own shortcomings.” He moved from her lips to just under her ear, teeth grazing against her earlobe and sending a shudder down and throughout her body. “Last time we were together I specifically remember you getting so worked up that you could barely beg for more.”
She smirked and gulped down a large portion of air. Ally was not nervous, it was apparent on her face, instead she was excited. “That’s because I’m not a beggar.”
Chuuya had a response gliding across his tongue but before it could come out the incessant ringing of a phone bleared through the room. Ally let out an audible groan and pushed Chuuya away, hand lingering on his unbuttoned shirt for just a bit too long. Part of him wanted to pull her back but then he reasoned with himself and realized that his wish of ending things could still come true. With the interference of an outsider he had caught the slipup he’d made many times before.
“What the hell do you want, Thomas?” Ally snapped through her phone, she paced back and forth as she listened to the person on the other line. After a moment she stopped dead in her tracks. “You really are useless without me. Fine, fine I didn’t mean it.”
She turned to Chuuya and gave that smile, the same one he’d often give her when his work called him away from the hotel room. Though this time he was pleasantly surprised by the situation. Furthering contact with someone so wrapped in mystery was not beneficial in any way. If anything it was dangerous and reckless. She meant nothing to him and that feeling was mutual, so neither of them had any real attachments to one another. It was best to end things here so that neither of them had too many hard feelings when things would inevitably go bad in a few more months. Casual sex and a freind with benefits was the closest he’d ever get to a real relationship given his line of work, but even that was something he hadn’t saught after much in his time.
“I was busy.” She growled into her phone before taking a deep breath and calming her nerves. After a moment her resolve and anger faded in one swift motion and she sighed. “I’ll be there in fifteen minutes, just wait for me in the meeting room okay?”
With a final goodbye she hung up the phone and tossed it onto the bed. She followed suit with her phone and fell onto the white bedding, face smashing against the soft comforter they would usually be tangled in by now. “This is for the best Alberta. I meant what I said. My job isn’t the most lenient and I don’t need distractions right now, so this is my final goodbye to you.”
She turned to look at him, watching as he redid the buttons she’d worked to undo. Turning over she spread her arms across the bed and closed her eyes. A soft smile tugged at the corner of her lips. “That’s true, my job is also picking up pace right now. We have a big projecting starting and I’d hate to miss out on it because of an outside relationship. Perhaps when things settle down we could meet up again, relive the first we met.”
“That won’t be necessary, when I say final goodbye I mean it.” Her ears perked up and she sat up, realizing now that he had already left the room and slid on his jacket. She heard the door open and then once again his voice rang through her ears. “Find yourself someone who’s actually in love with you, okay? Someone who’s worth your time.”
With those final words, the door closed to the hotel room and she was left alone to her thoughts. Intrigued by the man who she’d enraptured by her beauty. She had no romantic feelings towards him, but she was quite sad that their days of booty calls would no longer be happening.
~x~
Chuuya walked through the halls of the Port Mafia’s building, against the order he’d been giving he returned to headquarters in hopes of catching Mori before he left. Though after travelling up to the top floor he’d come to the conclusion that his boss had already left. He’d likely have gone to get rest for the night or take Elise to do something better than sit around his office.
“Chuuya.” Kouyou’s appearance behind him was sudden, her steps quiet as ever as she approached with her usual long strides. Her dress swayed as she continued by his side. As usual she spoke and moved in a way so elegant that she resembled a goddess. “How is your evening? I could have sworn Mori told you to return to your residence.”
“It’s late Kouyou, you should’ve gone home hours ago.” Chuuya tried to divert the subject from his disobedience, but he knew that even so Kouyou would insist. She was a Port Mafia executive above all else but that did not mean she was heartless. It was fleeting comments that passed by ever so often that reminded him of this; She cared about him in a similar sense to how she cares for Kyouka. “Do you have any idea where Mori might be? It’s late but usually he wouldn’t have left by this time.”
“Last time I saw him, he was meeting with (Y/N) and that handsome young bartender. I always forget his name but he makes the most wonderful cocktails.” Her voice sounded nearly dreamy as she recalled the delicious drinks she’d enjoy ever so often. Kouyou was the type of person who could handle her liquor well, unlike himself, and he’d seen her drink a dozen fruity drinks without ever slurring a single word. It was honestly somewhat startling. “Though I do remember he stormed out and your partner followed close behind. They sounded as though they were having a heated discussion but I was too caught up in a phone call to hear much of what they said.”
“Isaac.” Chuuya said slowly , Kouyou perked up and turned to him with a soft questioning hum. “That’s his name. Why would Mori want to meet with a random bartender? I thought (Y/N) said she was going home.”
The woman next to him chuckled, she pressed the button to call the elevator before turning to him. “I have no clue why Mori would want to speak with that man but I assume he has a reason and we should not question him. As for (Y/N), I’m glad to see you’re getting along with her. You were quite opposed to your partnership during the meeting this morning.”
“Getting along isn’t the phrasing I’d use.” Chuuya grumbled, arms crossing as he turned to face the elevator instead of his mentor. “I don’t trust that woman. She’s hiding something and I’d rather not be staring down the barrel of a gun when I find out what it is.”
They fell into silence, neither of them knowing what to say. Chuuya wasn’t in the wrong for believing she was hiding something, no one who can switch their personality as quick as her is being genuine. Mori trusts her and that is abundantly clear but what isn’t is why he’d never heard of her. Another executive that no one knew of was strange to say the very least. For now he wouldn’t question her much, instead seeing what he can find out without her realizing he’s digging around for information.
Kouyou knew a little of (Y/N), Mori had told her some of the stories about the feats she’d completed during her time in Russia. She knew there was more to the story but if Mori had trust in her to stay loyal to them then it was not her place to question it. One thing was clear to her from the way that her boss spoke: (Y/N) was strong and she is not foolish, and keeping her hidden from everyone was a strategy of the finest creation. He hadn’t told her what his ability is but whatever it was it made her abnormally strong compared to a regular mafioso.
“Your accusation is likely true, she is hiding something from us but I believe that Mori knows exactly what it is. We’ve pledged our lives to the mafia which means we are to have faith in our boss.” Finally after what felt like minutes the elevator door dinged and began to open. “I have a strong feeling that you and your new partner aren’t nearly as different as you’d like to believe… Perhaps I’m just being foolish.”
“You really should be getting some rest, my dear (Y/N).” The voice of Mori coed from the elevator, his slender hands wrapped around her shoulders as he gave them a gentle squeeze. She tried to shrug him off but the further she got from his grasp the tighter his hold became. It was almost as though watching a father taking care of his young daughter, but below the surface they were hiding something. Chuuya and Kouyou had been so enraptured with their own conversation that they hadn’t bore witness to the quiet whisper Mori had slipped to (Y/N) before the doors were all the way open.
“Get off of me you old man!” She shouted, bringing her foot back on his before whirling around. Not noticing his presence, her back bumped against Chuuya’s chest. He stumbled a bit at the sudden added weight but his arms caught around her and steadied them both. Surprised, she turned to face her hero with an utterly sweet smile. “Oh? Hello Chuuya, I didn’t expect to see you again this evening. Did you not have plans to attend?”
Mori perked up at the mention of one of his executives, specifically the one he’d told to take the night off. “Plans fall through often, no big deal. I just thought I’d come to make sure that Mori had been given a full report on what we found.”
“There’s no need to worry Chuuya, (Y/N) has given me a full report and I have faith that your digging tomorrow will bring more information to light.” Mori straightened himself from the endearing man they’d seen moments ago. His voice had a cold demeanor as it always had when he spoke with them, though when he spoke with her it seemed he had a similar attitude to the one he used when communicating with Elise. “I have faith in the both of you to prove your worth as executives. May you prove my assumptions right that your partnership was not in vain, then perhaps I could be persuaded to give you both a raise befitting your work.”
(Y/N)’s eyes searched up Mori, her gaze travelling from his gloved hands up to his rigid smiling face. It was clear to her that he was faking every word and gesture as if hoping to give his two closest advisors a false sense of security. His whisper still rang in her ear, ‘For now, act as if our conversation with Isaac never happened. You are, and only are, an executive of the Port Mafia.’ The message was clear with what he wanted but the intent behind it was a mystery. Had he meant it as a form of comfort to remind her that her past was not to stop her from having a future, or was it a warning to keep up the act as a perfect mafia princess and play the diplomat role, perhaps it was neither and simply a reminder that her life has only ever been that of a pawn. Any way he went about saying it, there was obvious fabrication of joy in his face.
“Thank you, sir.” Chuuya took a low bow before his boss and Kouyou offered a small courtesy. “Though I would like to speak with you about a few things when you have the time.”
Mori looked from Chuuya to (Y/N) as though he were asking her what questions she’d brought about from Chuuya, but all she did was shrug in response. He would either ask about her past and her file or he would bring up the fact that their partnership was not in the best of graces. “I truly would love to speak with you about this Chuuya, but Elise has been waiting on me for hours! Tomorrow morning I should have a bit of free time if that’s okay.”
“That will be fine, thank you sir.”
“Now, as your boss, I must request that you all get some rest. Specifically you (Y/N). I know that bad habit of yours and I’d prefer it if it didn’t interfere with your work.” Mori’s words confused the two people who didn’t know much about her habits, but she understood it well enough. He had made a jab at her constant desire to work and the way she would stay awake until the point of utter exhaustion. It was a bad habit she’d had for a long time; But it was part of the reason she got so much work done. “Please do watch your phones in case there’s an emergency, but if there is not then enjoy your time off.”
Mori stalked away from the group and in the direction of his meeting room. “Well I should be going as well, I’ve got some place to be. May you both have a goodnight.” (Y/N) wasted no time in excusing herself from the situation, wanting nothing more than to find her way to a place she’d been meaning to visit since she returned to Yokohama.
“Do you need a ride?” Chuuya was not fond of (Y/N), and that feeling went both ways, but his partner had done nothing to wrong him yet. Until she did so, he would be kind and offer her a ride. Kouyou smiled to herself but used her fan to hide it; The gesture earned a glare from Chuuya. “I don’t mind, I’ve got a stop to make before I return to my apartment anyway.”
“That won’t be necessary, but thank you for the offer Chuuya.” (Y/N) stepped into the elevator and gave a small wave before the doors began to close and seal her away from them both. “Tomorrow afternoon, don’t forget okay?”
With that she was gone.

All the dramas I’ve watched in 2020
These are all the dramas that I watched in 2020, with some review there should be NO Spoilers. I think I watched a lot more than usual probably because what else am I supposed to do between school and quarantine. So this is gonna be a long one...
Crash Landing on You (Lee Jung-hyo, 2019-2020)
Main Leads: Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin
Episodes: 16, 70 to 110 Minutes
Thoughts: I enjoyed this drama, and it was a good one to start 2020 with. I thought it was a perfect blend of romance, comedy, heartfelt, found family, action, and some tragedy. I would highly recommend it, especially for those who are new to Kdramas. Also fun fact this is my first Hyun Bin drama. Rating: Fun and adorable
Tale of Nokdu (Kim Dong-hwi, 2019)
Main Leads: Jang Dong Yoon and Kim So Hyun
Episodes: 32, 35 minutes
Thoughts: I actually started watching this when it was airing but I stopped around episode 13 because of my busy schedule and finished it in the new year. I adore the main couple, the romance, comedy, the found family, and the women center story. I thought it shined the brightest when it was focused on the group and its funny and warm moments but once it got too political it kinda fell flat. I loved the ending, however. Also, I really like Jang Dong Young as an actor, I saw him in Solomon’s Perjury (2016) and Mr. Sunshine (2018) and I loved how he played Nok Du too. Rating: I love a women’s only widow village
I’ll Find You When The Weather is Nice (Han Ji-seung, 2020)
Main Leads: Seo Kang Joon and Park Min Young
Episodes: 16, 60 minutes
Thoughts: I really liked this drama, probably one of my favorites this year. As you will notice I enjoy quieter and more slow-burn stories. Also, I am a fan of Park Min Young she tends to pick more interesting and strong-willed female roles, so it is really enjoyable to watch.  Rating: makes me want to own a book store.
King: The Eternal Monarch (Kim Eun-sook, 2020)
Main Leads: Lee Min Ho and Kim Go Eun
Episodes: 16, 70 Minutes
Thoughts: Confession; I am actually not the biggest fan of Lee Min Ho, nothing against him I just hate rich bratty characters and he tends to play them. However, I surprisingly really liked his character, he wasn’t a rich brat he actually was likable. I also really like Kim Go Eun, she is actually one of the main reasons why I watched and also with all the hype around it. Woo Do Hwan, who I have always liked, stole the whole show, however. I didn’t hate it like a lot of people, I really liked the characters, I liked the romance and the action. Also, Lee Min Ho and Kim Go Eun’s hugs were absolutely fabulous. It wasn’t my favorite and there were too many product placements, but I don’t think it was the worst drama this year. Rating: Lukewarm
A Piece of your mind (Lee Sang-yeob, 2020)
Main Leads: Jung Hae In and Chae Soo Bin
Episodes: 12, 70 minutes
Thoughts: I actually really liked this drama despite the low views, again I’m big on slow burn stories and character focus. I believe the episodes were cut from 16 to 12 I don’t know exactly why maybe because of the Pandemic or due to viewership or a mixture of both. Despite its being cut short I really liked the ending, and I thought the two leads were sweet. Rating: Wish we had more time to develop the characters.
Its Okay not to be Okay (Park Shin Woo, 2020)
Main Leads: Kim Soo Hyun and Seo Yea Ji and Oh Jung Se
Episodes: 16, 70 to 85 minutes
Thoughts: Out of all the dramas I talked the most about this one. I have always been a fan of Seo Yea Ji since Save Me (2017) and Lawless Lawyer (2018) and I am happy to see her getting more recognition because of this role. The entire cast was amazing and I think I cried every episode. Such a good and heart-wrenching drama which is why I chose to watch it before work every time. Rating: I would let Seo Yea Ji stab me with a knife anytime.
Mystic Pop up bar (Jeon Chang-geun, 2020)
Main Leads: Hwang Jung Eum and Yook Sung Jae and Choi Won Young
Episodes: 12, 70 minutes
Thoughts: I actually watched this while I was watching Its Okay Not to Be Okay and it was a nice balance to it because this was more of a found family story with less heartbreaking moments. Though it did have its share of heartbreak. I really liked all the characters and their relationship. Also, I am a sucker for bureaucratic fantasy/ magic, and kdramas are so good at it. Rating: I wish it was 16 episodes.
When the Camila Bloom (Cha Yeong Hoon, 2019)
Main Leads: Gong Hyo Jin and Kang Ha Neul
Episodes: 20, 63 to 75 minutes
Thoughts: I liked the story overall, the romance was cute and the mystery was interesting but I thought the family expectations was the best part of the story. This was not my favorite drama, but it was enjoyable and heartfelt. I watched it right after It's Okay Not to Be Okay and while I was watching Flower of Evil (2020) which probably is why I was so underwhelmed by it. Rating: Sweet romance and adorable found family.
Flower of Evil (Kim Cheol Kyu, 2020)
Main Leads: Lee Joon Gi and Moon Chae Won
Episode:16, 70 minutes
Thoughts: This was my favorite drama of this year. I went into this drama not thinking much of it, and I mainly watched it as a post drama blues drama. It was an action and thriller which I mainly don’t get attached to plus I am a huge fan of Lee Joon Gi. I should have known better, I cared so much about all the characters, the acting phenomenal, also every time they showed their hands I cried. This drama left me shriveled and empty inside. Rating: Lee Joon Gi will literally kill me one day.
Put Your Head On My Shoulders (Zhu Dongning, 2019)
Main Leads: Xing Fei and Lin Yi
Episodes: 24, 40 to 45 minutes
Thoughts: This is the first Chinese drama on this list. I thought it was cute, I liked the couple and thought it was alright. I started to dislike the male lead later in the series but it was overall fine. It was basic and sweet with very little drama. Rating: It did its job.
The School Nurse Files ( Lee Kyoung Mi, 2020)
Main Leads: Jung Yu Mi and Nam Joo Hyuk
Episodes: 6,  45 to 57 minutes
Thoughts: This is probably my second favorite drama. I couldn’t tell what happened in the drama but I loved it. I thought it was weird and fascinating, and just so magical. I loved the children and just how the whole school was just off its rocker. I also think that Nam Joo Hyuk does really well in serious roles, and I thought he did a really good job here. Rating: 1 jelly heart.
Mr. Heart (Park Sun Jae, 2020)
Main Leads: Cheon Seung Ho and Lee Se Jin
Episodes: 8, 11 Minutes
Thoughts: This was 8 episodes of start fluff and I adored it. Apparently, it is apart of a BL series by Park Sun Jae and there is a movie version that I haven’t watched. If you want to destress and watch just fluff this is the show for you. Rating: If it is any sweeter I would be going to the dentist.
You are My Destiny ( Ding Ying Zhou, 2020)
Main Leads: Xing Zhao Lin  and Liang Jie
Episodes: 36, 45 minutes
Thoughts: I hated this drama, I thought it was the worst thing ever. I don’t know why I even watched all 36 episodes. Apparently, it is a remake of a popular 2008 Twaniese drama Fated to Love You and there is a Korean remake of it as well. I have watched neither of them, so I was brand new to this story. I hated, despised the male lead. He was whiny, entitled, and an asshole. The only good part of the drama was the male and female lead actually had a lot of chemistry, unfortunately, they are playing awful characters. Rating: This was made in 2020???
First Romance (Ding Pei, 2020)
Main Leads: Wan Peng and Riley Wang
Episodes: 24, 45 Minutes
Thoughts: This is another Chinese drama. Similar to Mr. Heart (2020) this show was super fluffy. I really liked the main couple they seem to respect each other and they both had adorable crushes on each other. I loved the whole dumb jock and dumb artist dynamic it was so funny. Rating: Cute!!!
Lost Romance ( Eri Hao, 2020)
Main Leads: Marcus Chang and Vivian Sung
Episodes: 20, 70 minutes
Thoughts: This is the only Twainese drama on this list. I think I liked this drama, I actually only remember very little of this drama. I like the CEO in the real world more than the book world, and I also really liked the female lead except she lowkey stalked the CEO like that was not okay. Rating: I think I liked it???
When We Were Young ( Deng Ke, Liu Guo Hui, 2018)
Main Leads: Neo Hou and Wan Peng and Gala Zhang and Pan Mei and Ye Marcus Li
Episodes: 24, 45 minutes
Thoughts: I really liked this film, I loved all the characters and thought it was all very heartfelt. I cried like a baby, and Hua Biao was such a touching and relatable character. And the whole grandma story hit so close to home. Rating: Made me cry like a baby.
Moment of 18 ( Sim Na Yeon, 2019)
Main Leads: Ong Seong Wu and Kim Hyang Gi
Episodes: 16, 70 minutes
Thoughts: I really liked this drama, and I thought the romance was so cute. I also really liked the relationship between the moms and was sad that the rich mom was a bitch and ruined the friendship. I also wasn’t a big fan of the ending, but I loved the rest of it. Rating: The main lead is part of a boy group because he had a random singing moment.
Perfect and Casual ( Li Shuang, 2020)
Main Leads: Miles Wei and Xu Ruo Han
Episodes: 24, 45 minutes
Thoughts: This is another Chinese drama on this list. I’m pretty sure it's considered an Idol drama so that sets your expectations. I really liked this drama a lot, I am a big fan of contract marriages and I thought the leads were so cute together. Also, this is the first contract marriage drama where the leads don’t break up which I like. A lot of the drama came from outside of the relationship. Rating: You can’t analyze love.
Le Coup De Foudre ( Wang Zhi, 2019)
Main Leads: Janice Wu and Zhang Yujian
Episodes: 35, 45 minutes
Thoughts: My favorite Chinese drama on this list. I loved this drama, I thought it was sweet and simple and the main couple was so realistic. Unpopular opinion I disliked the second couple and the best friend I thought she was annoying and brattish. However, I adore the main couple and their relationship. Rating: Realistic sweet romance.
More Than Friends ( Choi Sung Bum, 2020)
Main Leads: Ong Seong Wu and Shin Ye Eun
Episodes: 16, 70 minutes
Thoughts: I enjoyed the overall story and characters. I loved the group and their relationships. Also, Young-Hee made me cry, and her relationship with Hyun Jae was so sweet. The main leads were also sweet, and I related a lot to Lee So. I just didn’t like the back and forth. Rating: How many times can we break up in a drama.
Be With You ( Zhou Miao, 2020)
Main Leads: Ji Xiao Bing and Zhang Ya-Qin
Episodes: 24, 45 minutes
Thoughts: This is the last Chinese drama I watched this year. It was alright, the romance was sweet, I really like the female lead, and the male lead was nice to look at. It was okay. Also, the second couple was so ??? She was his boss, enemy, and older than him, what?? Rating: Sometimes you need to fall in love to be creative.
Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo ( Kim Kyu Tae, 2016)
Main Leads: Lee Joon Gi and Lee Ji Eun (IU)
Episodes: 20, 60 minutes
Thoughts: I know I am really late watching this, but I finally did. I went in knowing this would hurt me and Lee Joon Gi already scared me this year ( damn this man) so I was fully prepared. I really wasn’t,  it so much. (SPOIlERS) When Wang Eun and Park Soon Deok died I sob like a baby (SPOILER ENDING). It took me a long time to finish this show because its heart so much, like it physically hurt me. The show was really good, and heartbreaking, and the ending stabs me in the heart 20 times. Rating: Lee Joon Gi is trying to kill me with tears.
Persona ( Lee Kyoung Mi, Yim Pil Sung, Jeon Go Woon, and Kim Jong Kwan, 2019)
Main Leads: Lee Ji Eun (IU)
Episodes: 4, 19 to 27
Thoughts: This is a collection of mini-films by directors. 4 separate stories are starring Lee Ji Eun. I thought all of them good, especially “ Kiss Burn” and “Walking at Night.” There isn’t much else to this, more than it is an artistic display of filmmaking. Rating: Hipster Kdrama
Come and Hug Me ( Choi Joon-bae, 2018)
Main Leads: Jang Ki-Yong and Jin Ki-Joo
Episodes: 32, 35 minutes
Thoughts: I actually just finished this show today. I really liked it, I thought it was both sweet and heartwarming/wrenching. I hated that one journalist and the public like why are they blaming a victim. I didn’t watch it with my full mind because I’ve been distracted lately, but I did enjoy it. Rating: another cute but sad couple.
Movies I watched this year:
Spell Bound ( Hwang In Ho, 2011)
Main Cast: Son Ye Jin and Lee Min Ki
Running Time: 114 Minutes
Thoughts: I watched this at like 12 am after a bad day and it was cute. I love RomCom fantasy, which I think Korean media does really well. I don’t know what else to say except it is a really cute romance. Rating: Is it the ghost or the butterflies
The Host ( Bong Joon Ho, 2006)
Main Cast: Song Kang Ho and Byun Hee Bong and Park Hae Il and Bae Doona and Go, Ah Sung
Running Time: 119
Thoughts: This film I had to actually watch for class. It was a really good film which is expected from Bong Joon Ho. I love monster films and I thought this was a good rendition of this film. Also, The monster was so cool especially from 2006. I thought it was heartbreaking, stirring, and so beautifully shot. Rating: Oscar-worthy Direction
Little Forest ( Yim Soon-rye, 2018)
Main Cast: Kim Tae Ri  and Ryu Jun Yeol and Moon So Ri and Jin Ki Joo
Running Time: 103 minutes
Thoughts: I really, really liked this film. It reminded me so much of I’ll Find You When The Weather is Nice (2020) that I thought that it was based on this film but it isn’t. I have watched this film 3 times since October and every time I watch it have made bread. I really just love everything about this film, how quiet it is, the cinematography, the acting, just everything. Rating: Three loaves of bread.
Always ( Song Il Gon, 2011)
Main Cast: So Ji Sub and Han Hyo Joo
Running Time: 106 Minutes
Thoughts: I thought it was okay, I watched it while I was knitting so I was distracted a bit. But I thought the couple was sweet, and the characters were interesting. Rating: It's Okay.
       Currently watching
True Beauty ( Kim Sang-hyeop, 2020-)
Main Cast: Moon Ga Young and Cha Eun Woo and Hwang In Yeop
Episodes: 16, 70 minutes
Thoughts: This is currently an ongoing series that is actually really popular. Apparently, it is based on a webtoon, which I haven’t read. I like it so far, I always liked Moon Ga Young and I think she is a great actress. She plays Im Ju Kyung in a likable and insecure way, instead of someone annoying which could easily happen. I will be continuing watching. Rating so far: Okey dokey yo.
Live On ( Kim Sang-woo, 2020-)
Main Cast: Jung Da Bin and Hwang Min Hyun
Episodes: 8?, 60 Minutes
Thoughts: I really Like this show. The main couple is sweet and supportive. I really like the female lead, I like that she is cold and kinda quiet, but with a sweet spot if you are not a dick. I really like the main relationship conflict comes from friendship instead of romance, I think it makes the show more interesting. Rating: I want to Join a Broadcast group.
On My List:
I actually don’t have anything else on my list so if anyone has recommendations please tell me. I am thinking about watching Mr. Queen ( 2020) because I really like Shin Hye Sun. I also want to watch Sweet Home (2020) the Netflix series. But please recommend me some dramas!!!
This is such a long list, and I had fun doing it and going back over all the dramas. I hope everyone has a good New year and that we will have many more good dramas in 2021!

oh right!  It’s Wednesday.
Time for a reading meme!
What I’ve just finished reading
Paper Girls, volumes 1-6 (the complete series), by Brian K Vaughan and Cliff Chiang.  I’d subscribed to this ages ago and then dropped off reading, so three of the volumes were completely new to me, but it’d been long enough that I just went ahead and read straight through from start to finish.  A thoroughly entertaining romp; it occasionally gets compared to Stranger Things (80s-era pre-teen girls on bikes encounter supernatural phenomena) but while there’s some shared DNA, it goes entirely different places; in this case, the band of main characters encounter a temporal war of sorts, with one side wanting to work to change the future and the other invested in preserving the status quo.
Sadly for ethics nerds like me, it becomes pretty apparent towards the sixth volume that the series is less invested in exploring the (potentially fascinating) arguments on either side than it is in designing more and more fantastic cityscapes and creatures for the girls to encounter.  That said, there’s still a lot of interest here, including the budding friendship between the girls and the always enjoyable stories-out-of-order gymnastics inherent to any good time-travel tale.  I was particularly entertained by the recurrence of the apple/Apple symbolism and some of the ethical gymnastics of Team Status Quo (”It’s okay if we raise dinosaurs to ride!  We nabbed them from just before the asteroid hit Earth, so the timeline remains intact!”).  One of the writers also worked on Saga, a series whose strength has long been the contrast between fantastical large-scale scenarios and smaller, more intimate, thoroughly human drama; there’s a lot of that here, and it works better for being constrained to a smaller arc.
What I’m currently reading
The Brotherhood of the Wheel, by R.S. Belcher.  This was recommended to me by @laveracevia specifically when we were talking about audiobooks with amazing voice work, and I’ll be damned if she wasn’t 100% on point—the narrator goes from Louisiana bayou drawl to Appalachian twang to “North Carolina by way of Glasgow” without breaking an (audible) sweat.  I consider myself pretty good at reading aloud (in English, anyway)—I’ve been reading Gideon the Ninth to Brian at night, and have been able to reasonably approximate Moira Quirk’s voices, at least for the first few chapters—but I wouldn’t have the first idea where to start with this.
As to the story—so far it’s a solidly entertaining American road culture noir.  There was one sequence towards the start that had me concerned it was going to go all-in on the Grittier And Darker Than Thou aesthetic, which, okay, valid choice, it’s just not my cup of tea—but so far (a couple of hours in) it’s actually been pretty interesting, with some killer action sequences and promising characters.  I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes.
What I plan to read next
I’ve been eyeing Astrid Lindgren’s Ronja Rövardotter on my shelf, but despite having thoroughly finished Duolingo Swedish, it still seems a bit out of my vocabulary range—I managed to get maybe 30% of the first couple of paragraphs without pulling up Google Translate.  So I may have to save it for when I'm willing to invest that kind of time and effort.
Fanfiction Spotlight
I recently found myself going down a bit of a rabbit hole with, of all things, Harry Kim/Tom Paris slash.  This seems a little odd, given how my usual tastes (Wincest, David/Michael from The Lost Boys, Harringrove) all center heavily around shifting power dynamics and obsessive angst, and Star Trek: Voyager was hardly an angsty or particularly changeable show (they tried, in places, but were overall roundly defeated by the arguably overbearing can-do optimism of 90s-era Star Trek).  I think it’s been about nostalgia as much as anything; Voyager was the first show I ever wrote fanfic for (in long-form, on a paper tablet from OfficeMax with a colorful border I can still envision), waaaaaay back in high school before I even knew fanfiction was a thing.  So there’s something weirdly comforting, here in these profoundly uncertain times, in reading these stories where the stakes are relatively low and nothing feels particularly life- or universe-threatening.
I particularly enjoyed Epiphany, by @rembrandtswife.  The premise is so thoroughly 90s fandom:  a sexually enlightened alien culture contrives to lead our main characters—in this case, Paris, Kim, and B’Elanna Torres—through the realization of their feelings for each other.  That’s it, that’s basically the story.  But its genuine earnestness is honestly endearing, and the author’s clearly put a lot of thought into the aesthetic; and there’s something I can’t quite pin down about the sex scenes that really sticks with me—a certain quiet vulnerability, maybe, that I think is undervalued in a lot of contemporary fic (cue that post about how orgasms always hit like a truck or a freight train...).  In any case, I enjoyed visiting that world, and it’s given me a bit to think about in my own writing.  (Also, if I might indulge my inner 13 year old for a moment, I’m rather entertained at having offered up the 69th kudos. XD )

The 13 Best Korean Dramas Of 2020
New Post has been published on https://perfectirishgifts.com/the-13-best-korean-dramas-of-2020/
The 13 Best Korean Dramas Of 2020
Bae Suzy and Nam Joo-hyuk partner up in ‘Start-Up.’
Although 2020 will make the history books for all the wrong reasons, it was a great year for Korean dramas. With a slew of big budget hits and small quirky stories, k-dramas offered plenty of innovative entertainment to help viewers happily pass pandemic time.
Every drama viewer may have a different list of favorites, but here are a few 2020 dramas that stood out in terms of originality, subject matter and execution.
Park Seo-joon created one of the year’s most memorable k-drama characters in ‘Itaewon Class.’
Itaewon Class
The year started off with the quirky hit Itaewon Class, in which Park Seo-joon’s character overcomes so many odds that he naturally sympathizes with those who society may shun. When opening a cafe he hires employees that others might not and those choices contribute to his success. Park’s generous character is one of the year’s most likable and the drama also features top-notch performances by Kim Da-mi, Kwon Nara, Yoo Jae-Myung and Ahn Bo-hyun.
Why see it? If you’ve never been to Seoul’s international neighborhood of Itaewon, this drama takes you there. The drama provides plenty of feel-good moments and a great soundtrack, including a contribution by BTS member V.
Kim Hee-ae and Park Hae-joon star in ‘The World of The Married.’
World of the Married
Although this drama has not yet made it to all international audiences, it was a huge hit in Korea, enjoying both critical success and nationwide ratings of 28.37%. World of the Married, an adaptation of the BBC series Dr. Foster, stars Kim Hae-ae. Kim plays a doctor who thinks her life is perfect until she learns that her husband, played by Park Hae-joon, has been cheating on her. Even worse, all their friends know.
Why see it? Kim won Best Actress at the Baeksang Awards for playing the drama’s protagonist Ji Sun-woo and the drama was a breakout hit for supporting actress Han Seo-hee. There’s also the guilty pleasure of watching a woman scorned exact revenge on those who betrayed her.
The legal drama ‘Hyena’ starred Kim Hye-soo and Ju Ji-hoon.
Hyena
The drama’s leading characters, played by Kim Hye-soo and Ju Ji-hoon, each have their own approach to practicing law. She’s a scrappy small-time lawyer with questionable ethics and he’s a self-satisfied high-profile lawyer at a top firm. Despite their differences—and getting off to a bad start when she scams him—they turn out to be good for each other.
Why see it? Ju delivers a pitch-perfect performance, with his every twitch and grimace creating an unforgettable character.  Ju and Kim have undeniable chemistry that sizzles through episodes of fast-paced high-stakes legal entanglements.
Bae Doona played a zombie-fighting nurse in the second season of ‘Kingom.’
Kingdom 2
The second season of this historical zombie drama was even better than the first. Kingdom 2 also stars Ju Ji-hoon as the prince trying to save his country from a zombie invasion as well as inner court corruption. What makes the second season better than the first is a larger role for actress Bae Doona, whose character takes time out from nursing the sick to battle the undead.
Why see it: It’s a zombie story with a historical and moral twist.
Start Up
Nam Joo-Hyuk and Bae Suzy star in this story of a small tech start-up that gets a chance to compete on a bigger stage. When Bae’s character Seo Dal-mi was young she received encouraging letters from a man named Nam Do-san, but the letters were really written by Kim Seon-ho’s character Han Ji-pyeong. When a grown-up Dal-mi decides to find the real Do-san, played by Nam, Ji-pyeong asks Do-san to pretend he really wrote the letters. Do-san and Dal-mi are perfect for each other but their budding relationship is based on a lie.
Why see it? The story of how the start-up gets started is interesting. Each of the actors—from the leads to the supporting cast— is imperfectly endearing and Kim wins this year’s unofficial prize for being the most appealing second lead.
Lee jun-ki is a potential serial killer married to the detective played by Moon Chae-won in ‘Flower … [] of Evil.’
Flower of Evil
What would you do if you found out you were married to a serial killer? It might be happening to Moon Chae-won’s police detective character in Flower of Evil. Her devoted husband, played by Lee Jun-ki, has a mysterious past that ties him to a serial killer. Did he also commit murders? If he is a serial killer, does his wife love him enough to look past the incriminating clues?
Why see it? Although some of the drama’s plot occasionally veers into the illogical, the relationship between the leads is so charismatic that the drama acquired a loyal and enthusiastic following. The mystery is sufficiently complex and Lee’s tortured performance as the suspected serial killer is mesmerizing.
Park So-dam played Park Bo-gum’s makeup artist in ‘Record of Youth.’
Record of Youth
Record of Youth features ambitious likable protagonists trying to find their place in a highly competitive world. Park Bo-gum plays a model so charming it’s hard to imagine why he’s not already a success at the story’s start. Park So-dam plays a talented make-up artist with dreams. She’s also a devoted fan of his modeling career.
Why see it? Park Bo-gum’s character is as bright as a shiny penny, ever optimistic and upbeat, despite not having much support for his dreams. Watching Park So-dam act is always a pleasure and the real star of the drama might be Han Jin-hee, who plays Park Bo-gum’s supportive grandfather.
Seo Ye-ji aggressively pursues Kim Soo-hyun in ‘It’s Okay Not To Be Okay.’
It’s Okay Not To Be Okay
Easily the most visually appealing drama of 2020, It’s Okay Not To Be Okay stars two of k-drama’s most photogenic actors Seo Ye-ji and Kim Soo-hyun as a twisted children’s book author and the psychiatric nurse she needs to calm her nightmares. Not only are the actors beautiful, but the drama’s graphics, cinematography and costumes are also gorgeous.
Why see it? The drama explores the topics of autism and the mental scars created by early trauma. Oh Jung-se’s performance as Kim’s autistic brother was one of the best of the year.
‘The Good Detective’ is a fast-paced crime thriller starring Son Hyun-joo and Jang Seung-jo.
The Good Detective
The Good Detective delivers a Scandi-noir vibe with its insightful character development plus some over-the-top, superhero police action scenes. The drama stars Son Hyun-joo, who might have the most expressive face of any k-drama actor, and Jang Seung-jo as a detective whose super-power is having a fortune.
Why see it? The Good Detective is an involving police procedural with top-rate performances. Oh Jung-se plays a hard-hearted villain, a dramatically different role than his vulnerable character in It’s Okay Not To Be Okay.
Nana plays a woman who pursues politics for a paycheck despite Park Sung-hoon’s objections.
Into The Ring
The wry comedy stars Nana, formerly a member of k-pop group After School, and Park Sung-hoon, who recently played a convincing but comical killer in Psychopath Diary. Nana plays a plucky unemployed woman who runs for office, motivated largely by the paycheck, but also from a sense of justice. Although Park initially finds her irritating, he eventually helps her fight local corruption.
Why see it? Nana is so charismatic in this role, viewers may want to see everything she’s ever done. She and Park develop a low-key lovable comic rapport that keeps a story about local politics happily enjoyable.
‘My Dangerous Wife’ is a cat-and-mouse mystery within the story of a marriage.
My Dangerous Wife
In this dark comedy Choi Won-young plays a chef who plans to murder his wealthy wife, so he can inherit her money, but when he arrives home with a poisoned bottle of wine he finds she has been kidnapped. The note the kidnappers left behind warns him not to contact the police or they will kill his wife. Should he? It sounds like an opportunity.
Why see it: Interesting plot twists and turns make this drama fascinating to the very last episode. The complex storyline involves a mistress, a mysterious old friend, a detective with a suspicious wife, and a set of curious next door neighbors with secrets of their own.
Son Ye-jin and Hyun Bin experience an impossible love in ‘Crash Landing On You.’
Crash Landing On You
Crash Landing On You, which first aired in Dec. 2019, successfully introduced a wider international audience to the joys of k-drama viewing. The mega-hit, starring Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin, follows the story of a South Korean heiress who accidentally lands in North Korea and is helped by a North Korean officer at the risk of his own life.
Why see it? Everything about the drama is top-notch—the cinematography, the romantic storyline and the excellent performances from the lead and supporting actors. The drama also offers some interesting insight into North Korean daily life.
Shin Sung-rok stars in the paranormal thriller ‘Kairos.’
Kairos
Kairos is a tense paranormal thriller about karmic debt. In this drama two people who live in different times stumble on a supernatural way to talk and thus untangle their preventable personal tragedies. Shin Sung-rok plays a callous businessman whose daughter is kidnapped. Lee Se-young plays a woman whose mother disappears. Together they must change fate but they can’t connect in their own time. This plot device was used in the film The Call and the k-drama Signal, but it feels fresh in Kairos, given the carefully crafted moments of suspense and some intriguing performances.
Why see it? Both Shin and supporting actor Ahn Bo Hyun do an excellent job of portraying men who question what they once held sacred.

famed idol life / career meme
notes: once again, a big mega post because i didn’t want to flood dash with answers. thanks to everyone that sent in!!
1. what is your favorite single you’ve released?
“solo wise? i’ve only released one solo portal song, which was a self-written song called that’s okay. well, bc forced that one on me when they took pages from my diary — still, my only one solo release, and that’s the favorite since i’m left with no other option. in regards to group? everyone knows, amigo or not — my favorite will always be view. something special about that time, i tell you.”
2. what are your favorite b-sides/non-title tracks you’ve released?
“since i haven’t released any songs by myself other than the one mentioned before, i’d have to go through decipher’s discography. lovesick, odd eye, prism, honesty, stranger, better off — there’s a lot to sift through in the past few years. unfortunately, there’s a point where my interest had started weaning off idol-dom, and you can observe that when i stopped paying attention and interest into what decipher did conceptually after 2016. at least the enjoyment was fun while it lasted.”
3. what is your least favorite song (title track or b-side) you’ve released?
”that’s an easy one. you take any b-side we’ve released in the past few years, and that probably makes the list. the comeback with the b-side shot was awful. that’s probably the worst, in my head. never was a fan of that comeback, now that i think of it — i call it the dark blip of decipher’s early career. perhaps it’s just ambivalence at this point that i have no real strong feelings towards bsides nowadays.”
4. if you could do a duet with anyone in the industry, who would you choose? what do you think of your/your group’s concept?
“i’d want to do a duet with duri — we’ll have a tale of the oldies. the two 1990 liners inside bc’s walls doing a ballad song. though, duri would have to take the high notes on that one seeing as how he’s a power vocalist. there’s rarely times where i’m able to keep in touch or have people around my age, and for that — i’m always grateful when i come across that. we’d manage something interesting given the same age, and the ballad concept.”
5. what do you think of your/your group’s concept?
“decipher doesn’t really stick to a concept, and i suppose our concept has always been to branch into new avenues. there’s good things and bad things about it, obviously. we’re given new things to try, new stylings, and what not. however, we’re also subjected to that risk in case it doesn’t turn out how bc envisioned. to put it short — it’s either a hit or miss.”
6. what is one thing (a concept, a genre, an outfit, etc.) you would least like your company make you do?
“decipher’s novelty in the industry is that we’ve been here so long that we’ve managed a lot of different concepts. from the house pop to retro vibes, even spring ballads in soft tunes — we’ve done it all. the least? i’d say another electronic heavy music where we’re dancing like madmen. i wouldn’t mind a powerful choreography to show i can still ‘hang’, but to the sounds of techno-ish music? i don’t think so. at least, not with my age.”
7. what one thing (concepts, genres, styling, frequency of comebacks, etc.) would you like to change about your current career as an idol?
“i don’t want to comeback so frequently — it seems we’re coming back more frequently than other rookies. it would be nicer to stay back and relax while we let the hoobaes have their time to shine. genres and concepts aren’t really on the top of my list to complain about, though i would enjoy an old throw-back to decipher’s glory days where we’re given something newer. perhaps, that’d be enough to rejuvenate my attitude towards the industry.”
8. if you could be in any idol group, which one would you choose?
“with my age, i don’t think i’d fit any group. perhaps, i could assimilate myself to knight, but the bad boy niche doesn’t really match mine. say, i was a few years younger — then, you’d have me inside charm. i think i’d do a pretty good left and right if you ask me.”
9. if you could say one thing to your ceo, what would it be?
“i respect the business model you form. however, i’m still trying to understand it when applied to me. thirteen years, and i have yet to sit down and have a conversation with you. it’d be nice to have one someday.”
10. if you were auditioning for your company today, what would you perform for your audition, or what would you change from your original audition?
“my audition was so long ago. fourteen, fifteen years now, and that’s nearly half of my life. i wish i could remember parts — but there’s only the snippet of a ballad i sang, probably kim bum soo. all alongside some awkward dancing that bc shaped me up for. i’d probably pick a sung sikyung song instead.”
11. if you could do any special stage, what would it be and who would it be with?
”call it a weird match, but i’d have a set with duri, andy, joohwan, my maknae and jiah. well, those would be the people i’d know well enough to collaborate with, though the outcome might not be as promising as i initially thought. case closed, never make me do a special stage.”
12. what career opportunities would you like to pursue that you’ve yet to, or what achievements would you like to obtain that you’ve yet to?
“maybe a bit of variety? i’m completely happy where i am with acting, though it’d be better if decipher’s comebacks were rarer. however, i’m taking what i can get and variety might be a chance to show the side that doesn’t get shown when i’m playing a role on tv. i’ve heard from some people that i can be funny at times.”
13. if you could become a model or ambassador for any brand, what would you choose?
“as much as i like high fashion, i haven’t done any modeling in regards to brand deals with high fashion. a luxury brand would be nice — i hear prada has changed with the entrance of raf simons. i’ve been into the streetwear look lately after itaewon class, so that would be a current go-to. otherwise, i think i’m happy promoting good feel and credit cards.”
14. if you could be on any variety show, which one (or which type of one) would you want to be on?
“i live alone would be my first pick. only because i’ve decorated my house nicely recently, and haven’t had a chance to show it off to many people as i’m not home as often these days. however, that’d require an off day and i don’t have many of those lately. i think people would be shocked to see what i do when i’m around my house, lounging and rarely moving around.”
15. if you were offered the chance to become a ceo of an entertainment company, new or existing, would you take it? why or why not?
“as much as i’m leader of decipher, i don’t think i could handle leading a company. i wouldn’t want to become a ceo. it distracts from my own schedule, and i’d be too focused on my company rather than the hobbies and interests that appeal to me. sure, i’d make more money — but what’s more money on top of the money i already have? it’s counterproductive and i’d rather do what i like doing.”
16. what changes would you implement if you were the ceo of your company?
“each company runs on a specific pattern of events, and there’s a reason for that. a reason why routine shapes each group, so i wouldn’t necessarily change much. my trainee year was difficult, but it also fostered friendships within the group that i consider irreplaceable. the only change i can think of? maybe getting to know my artists rather than staying far off.”
17. what do you do to relieve the stress of idol life?
“i work out. i run a lot, and go to the gym as cliche as it sounds. but each role requires me to be in top shape, and after all that i’ve found a love for working out each morning. other than that, i like to shop and cook, even walk my dog. normal things any other person does on their day off. by the end of the day? finishing it off with a cold beer becomes my saving peace.”
18. what tips would you give to a trainee about to debut?
”push through it because it’s only a matter of time till debut happens. the trainee years are taken for granted, and you need to learn to treasure those moments. once debut happens, there’s no looking back and you’re constantly on the move — so, you’re better off enjoying now. also, don’t be afraid to approach sunbaes. we’re all in the same boat, been there and done that, so let us help where we can.”
19. what was the hardest part of being a trainee?
“singing while running around the room? i remember running too many laps, out of breath belting a high note. looking back, it was probably the time i thought i was going to end my trainee career right there and run to my parents. other than that? learning to live with others? i’ve lived a blessed life, and i’ve never had to share a room with anyone. that felt like a culture shock.”
20. did you enjoy the lifestyle of a trainee or of a debuted idol more?
“call me weird, but i’d say the trainee life. there was something special about those days, and now i’m so many years in my career and i miss the days crammed in the dorms. i don’t think there’s anything like it. the structure of it, the tears of joy and sadness all into one — every emotion all there. it’s rare moments like those i’ll never get back.”
21. what one song or album by another group or soloist would you have liked to release yourself?
“i’ve heard a lot of songs, but i heard a song recently by a charm member. one of the solo projects of dai, and his song let’s love was something that made me want to release music as well. maybe, it’s just inspiration just at that moment, but the song was something i enjoyed listening to. knight’s tempo was also something that i wish decipher was given, just because there’s a certain spark when it comes to the song.”
22. describe your dream sub-unit (members and concept).
“my dream sub-unit? does that relate to in-group or out of group? for the sake of this question, i’ll keep it in-group to simplify things. i’d like to keep our main vocal, myself and our lead rapper only because the maknae already has his thing in champion — though conceptually, i’m not sure what we’d be able to do. something non-dance related, i’d hope. perhaps, a power house vocal because i know our lead rapper can belt a few notes better than most main vocals of other groups.”
23. out of the following six options, would you rather be allowed to play a major hand in the lyrics, production, choreography, styling, music videos, or concepts you release?
“no lyrics, production or choreography. i’ve never been talented in that market, and maybe that’s why i don’t take part in any of these things. instead, i’d keep to the styling, and music videos — though, i don’t have an artistic eye. perhaps, i’d keep to styling as it lies most with my interests. my members might get bored of wearing the same dress shirts and slacks for each comeback.”
24. which of the two other companies (out of bc, dimensions, and gold star) you are not currently signed under would you rather be an artist in?
“none of the other two. i’ve said it time and time again that i’m loyal to bc — i might complain about it, sure. but in hindsight, i don’t see myself being in any other music company. now, if you had asked me in terms of acting? then, we’d have a different story between namoo, artist and vast.”
25. what is your least favorite part of being an idol?
“there’s no breaks, not for age. there’s little opportunity to cease the past, and continue on a new future. instead, i’m always tethered to the role of an idol, and despite how much i try — they still reel me back in each time for another comeback. on top of that, some songs don’t age well with time — decipher has a few of those. yet, because they’re fan favorites, i have no choice but to dance and sing along as if it’s 2009 again.”
26. what is your favorite part of being an idol?
“ironic, but there’s a lot of opportunities to try new things. i wouldn’t have thought of cf modeling or acting, if it weren’t for the opportunities presented to me. as a result, i’ve found a new enjoyment in an acting career due to the idol life. plus, along the way i meet different people to give me new insight — suppose it keeps me young again.”
27. would you rather be incredibly famous with a terrible reputation and hated by most or be fairly unknown with a good reputation and adored by those who know of you? why?
“i don’t know how to answer this one because being incredibly famous with a terrible reputation is just a cheapened output of your career you’ve built thus far. that would simply become a life unenjoyable, so by default i suppose i’d rather have the latter. fairy unknown with a good reputation because that way, you have a basis to build yourself up.”
28. what moment in your career are you proudest of so far?
“i’d either attribute it to parasite, which did win a lot of accolades not only in the country but out or i’d give it to the recent baeksang nomination for the dramas i was in. i don’t think i’d ever predict the success of stories i had a pleasure of working on. in retrospect, it was nice that so many people were able to relate and get along with the characters i was given the honor of portraying.”
29. what have you learned about yourself and/or society since becoming a celebrity?
“i’m no longer an extrovert. in fact, i’m more of an introvert. i used to think i was an extrovert, and one time i was when i was busy running around getting assimilated to those new faces. however, over the years, my circle’s only run short and i’ve been given little things here and there that make me want to preserve my small circle of people i’ve gotten to know along the way. i don’t like going out and partying, and much rather have a night in with dubu in peace.”
30. what would you like to change about how society views or treats idols?
“it’d be nice to be given more freedom — but isn’t that what everyone wants? i’m talking about stepping into something without facing backlash, or how we’re seen as approachable because we’re public figures. it’d be nice to sit down and have a meal without the thought of dispatch finding who i’m with, or scrutinizing any of my friendships. there should be some level of normalcy given, and i think that’s the least anyone could ask for.”

Thoughts on PTT (Paint The Town)
Um. This was originally supposed to be on PTT as a whole. But I had a whole lot to say about LOONA’s line distribution. But then I made my own line distribution. So it’s back to PTT as a whole now.
To kind of wrap up my issues with the line distribution, I think that LOONA keep splitting up parts that one member could sing alone for little reason. And they did Kahei and Chaewon dirty (real question - when you hear their last bit, do you hear two people, and if only one, then who?). Everyone else is okay, save for the weird sharing.
Um. It’s not my favourite title track. Current ranking:
Butterfly < So What/PTT < Why Not < Hi High
PTT is kind of like Why Not in that I didn’t care about Heejin and Choerry’s first verse. I feel like in Why Not, the “I’m (not) a bad girl” parts are just stuff you have to put up with to get to the more enjoyable parts. It’s like that with PTT.
To be fair, I did enjoy the other parts of the first verse - Yves’ and Kim Lip’s rap, Chuu’s rap? Both are good with me!
Yeojin’s rap is great! I would like to understand what Yves rapped, but I don’t! Olivia’s rap is fine but Jinsoul’s rap throws me off. She seems to rap the second and third lines as if they’re the first and second lines, so it feels like her part ends prematurely.
I love the prechorus, but again, I would rather one person sings “Go, go, etc. Roll, roll”. Hyunjin, Haseul and Yeojin’s voices were similar yet different enough that it was jarring to realise it’s two people singing it and not one person (side note: I thought ViVi did the “Go, Go” bit in the teaser, lol). But the prechorus is perfect apart from that, my favourite title track prechorus.
The chorus is....... it’s decent. It gets the job done. I think the post-chorus really saves it. I don’t know why they autotuned Hyejoo’s voice but not Hyunjin’s, but I preferred Hyunjin’s version. I think the autotune was heavy on Hyejoo in this song. Anyway. LOONA’s title tracks have mever had a post-chorus before, so I can safely say this is my favourite title track post-chorus.
Bridge is okay except I don’t really get the English lyrics (the English lyrics are kind of hit-or-miss). Phenomenal singing though, my favourite title track bridge.
Chuu is Chomp this era, and I love that for her, she let everyone know she had a black belt with that “Let’s go!”
Something about the ending felt off to me, which also happened with Why Not’s, so it’s probably because they didn’t have another “We’re taking to the moon” (also, did they mean “We’ll take it to the moon” or “We’re heading to the moon” or -)
Overall, there’s something that’s holding me back from this song. I love a lot of its parts but something about its construction is..... off to me.
Choreography is fun! Like it a lot! I liked the editing with Heejin with the planets, and the video was very pretty! They really recycled that shot of Olivia with the drum though, lol
All of that said, I feel weird liking it given the discussions on CA. To be clear, I don’t intend to speak over who belong to culture(s) that are said to have been appropriated in this MV. I’m iffy whenever groups do something like this because no matter how respectfully they (attempt to) go about it, there’s always the fact that some creative staff looked at a culture that isn’t theirs and use it for aesthetic. I think what concerns me the most is finding out that LOONA imitated an Indian dance as recently as 2020 (timestamp at 6:02, but I recommend watching the entire video and part 1) - as of making this post (30/06/2021) they have not given an official apology for this. It feels hard to separate these two incidents, and I’m concerned that them using Bollywood elementa and Indian instruments are going to lead into more incidents, especially on variety shows which are kind of notorious for cultural and racial insensitivity.
I also want to listen to Indians who are offended by PTT, because while Indians are not a monolith and some are okay or even happy with it, fans with no connection to the culture are generally more receptive to those who say it’s okay and more hostile to those who disagree.
A lot of this account focuses on the LOONA characters, not just because I find it slightly strange to put real people in boxes, but because it provides separation between what I enjoy about LOONA and what is at best boring and at worst offensive about LOONA.
I think what made Butterfly work is that LOONA is separate to the large variety of women they represent in the video: LOONA stay in their choreography place while we get to see many women in their own environments. Butterfly would not have been as well-received as it was if we saw LOONA taking on clothing from cultures that weren’t their own
PTT is slightly different because it explicitly credits Bollywood for its music, so then there’s the question of where to take the question: is it “Should LOONA not have tried to use Bollywood elements?” or “Is it already enough to use Bollywood musical elements, or is it only fitting to also use Indian fashion?” Obviously I can’t answer, and no single group can either (again, not a monolith).
I don’t really know how to end this......... just please be receptive to those who feel offended by this, no matter what your opinions on LOONA prior to this have been.

BTS365 Prompt.Week25
[Full Masterlist] [Prompt Masterlist]
Beta: @jung-hoseok-s-airplane
Please tag me in your work if you use my prompts. I want to see your work. Ever your Jester.
Tell me your birthday and I will tag you on your special day!
═══════ ೋღ ღೋ ═══════
        June 18th - 24th
═══════ ೋღ ღೋ ═══════
Kim Seokjin - panic @absoluteyoongit (I am so sorry I didn’t get to post it on your birthday, but still Happy Birthday my love)
You were at the BTS concert. It took all your savings, a countdown timer and quick refresh skills and you had scored mosh pit tickets. The concert was amazing. The fans were shrieking, pressing you to the gates and you were a little annoying. Until you were actually elbowed in the face by a fan during Dionysus.
You fell forward over the gate and was grabbed by security, passing out with an apology.
You woke to ice to your neck, you were sat hunched forward, hands holding your shoulders and chin.
You blinked sitting up noticing the two medics were holding a bloody rag to your nose and you apologized taking the cloth and holding it.
"How are you feeling?" The woman asked.
"Uh my head hurts, some girl elbowed me during Dionysus, but I guess you couldn't blame her it's a really good song," it was awfully quiet and you had a nervous sick feeling, "what time is it, am I okay? I don't want to miss the concert"
"It is over," she said and you frowned.
"No it can't be over, I paid so much and I didn't get to even see them perform their new songs"
"I am sorry, but the concert is over, you can head home if you are ready just follow the exit signs," she said quietly you nodded holding your emotions in.
You grabbed your small bag and stepped out the infirmary, tears starting to flow. Following the exit signs the further away you got the more you broke down.
Until you bumped into someone re-injuring your nose and fell back onto your behind, openly crying as you sat like a child, shirt all bloody and nose bleeding once more.
"Oh I'm so sorry" the voice said, it was soft and unsure, "I didn't mean to hurt you?"
A figure crouched in front of you and tilted your head a little to look you over, "Are you badly hurt?"
"I missed the concert," you sobbed and wiped your eyes, “I used all my money for the best seat in the house but I was knocked out. I didn't get to see any of their new songs.”
"Hey shh, neoneun neui jigu, nege nan just a moon, me mameul baikyeojuneun neoui jageun byeol, neoneun naui jigu and all I see is you," he sang and you looked up to see the Kim Seokjin kneeling in front of you holding his handkerchief to your nose and smiling.
The only appropriate response was for panic to set in.
Min Yoongi - picnic
You were planning to have a picnic with your boyfriend of many years when he called and said he wasn’t able to attend but everything sounded suspicious especially the woman giggling in the background. So here you sat in the parking lot of a hotel with a picnic basket full of homemade snacks
You entered the lobby and made the trek to the front desk. The young man at the front desk looked up and laughed at your light sky blue sundress, mismatched red coat and picnic basket. “Hello, little red riding hood, how can I help you?”
“I am looking for my boyfriend,” you said seriously, giving him the name and his face fell looking at your concerned face. “Are you sure he is at this hotel, maybe I spelt his name wrong.”
“The idiot used my credit card, I know he is here with another woman. You will give me the key to the room I paid for.”
“With pleasure little red, I will come with you purely for your protection.” He grabbed the keys and sprung over the desk shouting “I am on lunch, Mister Seokjin!”
The two of you took the elevator up to the fourteenth floor, where he asked you about you and your partner. He asked you all sorts of questions and generally being nosey but he was funny.
“Who rents a room at midday to cheat on someone, psychopaths, I am glad you found out now before you got murdered or something.” Making you laugh and taking your mind off the present issues regarding your cheating and lying boyfriend.
“Listen little red, I finish work in less than thirty minutes. Let’s go on this picnic” He gave a cheeky smile showing all his pink gums. And for a moment you were happy with what had happened.
Jung Hoseok - sauntering
Hoseok was walking leisurely through Malta trying to find some souvenirs for the other boys. It was a hot day and he had lost Namjoon in a crowd, the music pulled Hoseok and when he looked back he was alone with only one cameraman. That’s when he saw you working at a restaurant, weaving through tables while dancing to the street music.
You moved so elegantly rolling your head to the side while placing plates down at the tables. You didn’t walk, you glided slowly captivating him, every movement was so simple and yet looked like you were an angel floating and inch above the ground.
In a way he was right, your six-inch heels kept you lighter than air on your feet and yet never let you touch the ground. Your hips swinging in figure eights exaggeratedly and seductively but it was your natural gait.
He adjusted his collar and hat and went to saunter over letting his body move to the music in hopes to impress you like some nature documentary where the male species must impress the female with their moves.
Kim Namjoon - juggling
The circus seemed like a fun idea, he thought the other members would enjoy the stunts and jokes and more. They were only in town for a week so he knew he had to get it over and done with before they missed out. It was a carefree night filled with ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ but then she appeared in a sparkly crimson leotard her lips as red as her outfit and she moved with grace to the music.
Lowered from the ceiling she unravelled herself like a present and he watched her move the lights hitting her figure just right casting a silhouette onto the back of the tent, she rolled her hips and danced on pointed to kicking her legs and she began juggling three became four became five, six, seven and she spun and danced never dropping a single one.
She started juggling both hands above her head and she slid into the splits and caught all the balls raising both hands into the air. He would be back.
Park Jimin - Daylight (this will become a story but the details of the scene and how the reader finds the elevator might be different)
You were being chased by a young woman trying to take your bag, you took a wrong turn in a shopping mall’s parking lot followed by at least four more until you reached an old abandoned floor below the basement you could hear her coming and you looked around finding a door with a faint glowing keypad, you pressed each number four times.
1,1,1,1. No.
2,2,2,2. No.
3,3,3,3. No.
4,4,4,4. Beep. Yes, the reset sequence works on most old pin code machines. You snuck inside and it locked behind you.
Inside the room was kind of dark, you saw small glowing arrows one pointing up the other down, pressing the down arrow the doors opened and light poured in.
It was an elevator and it looked like it was in good condition, stepping inside you pressed the button and headed down. What you saw shocked you; it was like an artificial world. It seemed to go on for a fairway, you could just see walls in the distance but there were lights that created an artificial daylight.
The roof had screens showing a fake sky, there must have been UV lights as the trees and vegetation were growing well. Then of course there was the elevator shaft you were in, the further you went down the more you saw, animals and buildings and people.
They turned to you watching the elevator come to a stop each holding weapons, it was then you noticed how big this underground ecosystem was and on top of that, the people were all handsome young men.
They all looked scared of you except one. Jimin looked at you curiously. He had never seen anything like you before, what were you, you looked like him and yet different?
Kim Taehyung - ring
Taehyung’s ears were damaged and he barely had any hearing left all except for the constant ringing. He decided to just use sign language and live his life that is until he met you. You were like a breath of fresh air and you could sign a small hearing aid in your ear brightly colored for your own enjoyment and for others to notice.
Jeon Jungkook - writer
Jungkook took his monthly wage and ran through the town, he passed a man with a long scar down his face which vaguely reminded him of the king. His thoughts were interrupted by a bearded man hitting him over the head with his fishing pole and Jungkook grabbed him by the collar and punched him.
The scuffle didn’t take long, as both parties had yielded blaming the man with the scar. Jungkook continued on his way and finally arrived at the postal service.
“Any letters for me Jimin?”
“None today,” he smiled, “you here to send another?”
“Only the best for my pretty flower.”
“What would you like it to say?”
“My dearest…” Jungkook poured his heart out and Jimin wrote it for him. And the letter was sealed and Jimin grinned, taking the small silver coin and handing back a few even bronze ones.

May in Kpop
Pre-Debut Songs//January//February//March//April//May//June//July//August//September//October//November//December
Tumblr media
May 1
Hannah Jang - “Runnaway”
Tek - more please!
Kas - I love it, oh my gosh! It’s so catchy and fun. Upbeat and boppy. I wanna drive to it, play it at 3 am in a neon room.
*Rankings (by K): Runnaway - (5)
May 7
NATTY - “NINETEEN”
Tek - I was so looking forward to Natty’s debut! And I hate to say that I just think it’s okay. She does a great job, but it’s just not for me.
Kas - Was I waiting for her debut? Yes. Do I have a clip of me reacting to her debut? Yes. I think her voice could sound a little more attractive. It's almost like she’s dragging it a little on purpose for the whole song. Something that really only works in rap verses and parts where you choke on the beat drop (See (G)I-DLE’s “Oh My God” or NCT 127’s “Limitless”). Regardless, it’s a fun song to bop to and I like the music video.
*Rankings (by K): NINETEEN - (4)
May 8
LUCY - “Dear”
youtube
Tek - I think I literally made heart eyes at that violin. Is that possible? Can you make heart eyes in real life?
Kas - Who are they to make the intro sound like Pirates of the Caribben x Disney Fairies? Also I love “Flowering” :) Seriously. What a wonderful song. I can’t remember the last time I heard a violin in music, much less in k-pop. I love how you can hear it dancing as it makes the melody.
*Rankings (by K): INTRO - (5); Flowering (5)
May 9
Roya - “Butterfly”
Kas - I really like this song. Her voice doesn’t sound as cutesy/pure as every other solo artist out there. She brings a little something new to the table while not straying from the norm too much. Taeyeon vibes?? *Ranking (by K): Butterfly - (4) Tek - sing it girl! *holds lighter*
May 15
Woo!ah! - “Exclamation”
youtube
Tek - ‘Woo!ah!’ is a fun song, but how is it that I’ve never heard this before and yet it sounds like it ripped each of it’s lines from a different song? The lyrics are just so generic. I’ve heard them a thousand times before. I like the B-side a lot better.
Kas - It’s fun for sure but not my favorite, nor does it stand out too much. Points for bop-ness, though.
*Rankings (by K): Woo!ah! - (4); Payday - (3)
May 19
REDSQUARE - “Prequel”
youtube
Tek - there’s so much makeup in this MV is feels like an ad. Kinda weird and cool that they won’t let us get a good look at the girls’ faces in the MV too. Seeing if they ever do actually kept me watching more than caring about the song. (They don’t btw)
Kas - Ooh an interesting start to the song. I like it. Thennn they lost me with the “I can be pink, i can be __…” I don’t like the chorus much, either, but they brought me back when we got into the verses. It’s an interesting song, for sure. Truly I mean “interesting”. I’ve never heard anything quite like it. Not from IZ*ONE, not TWICE and certainly not (G)I-DLE. I don’t think they’re exactly my cup of tea but I certainly had fun listening to them. I wonder what they’ll come out with next…
*Rankings (by K): ColorFull - (3.5)
SECRET NUMBER - “Who Dis?”
youtube
Tek - Title track is okay, shines in the chorus (and that little post-chorus chant is so catchy). The b-side is fair as well.
Kas - I love the music video for “Who Dis?” but I’m pretty neutral on the song. There are parts I really like and part i do not. For example, the pre-chorus does NOT do it for me. I suppose the song is functional, though. It certainly catches people’s attention which is just what a debut needs to do. “Holiday” is much more enjoyable, for me. It sounds less forced overall. I’d like it more if not for the rap parts.
*Rankings: Who Dis? - (3); Holiday - (3)
May 20
Ken - Greeting
youtube
Tek - “With All My Heart” is probably my favorite after my first listen, but I really just think they’re all so pretty!
Kas - Don’t mind me. I’m crying ‘cause pretty voice. When I first started listening to K-pop I thought ballads were boring, but it’s voices like Ken’s that prove me wrong.

Ryu Su Jeong - Tiger Eyes
Tek - I dont have a single bad thing to say about any of the songs on this mini album. Seriously, the ballads weren’t dull; the bops didn’t fall flat; she sounded amazing in each one of them.
Kas - Her voice is so pretty! All the songs hit a bit different so I like them for different reasons. I dont like the cover art too much if I’m being honest, but that’s nothing to judge a group or artist on. *casually clicks “follow” on spotify*

Yulia - “White Dream”
Kas - I don’t think it’s a bad song. It knows what it’s doing, but what it’s doing just doesn’t do it for me.*Rankings (by K): White Dream - (2)
Tek - it’s a cute little song and I really enjoyed it

Like Me - “Like Me”
Tek - okay what is with these groups having the name and song title be the same? Better yet, how is that two in the month of May? The song is fine.
Kas - The chorus is a dumpster-fire disaster but the song is catchy and the verses start to save it. There is too much going on sound wise for it to simultaneously sound so stripped back. They just don’t sound... good. Sorry?

Kim Woo Seok - 1st Desire [Greed]
Kas- “And we all said Kim👏Woo👏Seok👏” A direct quote of what I text Tek when I listened to this. “‘Kim Wooseok is 4th gen Taemin,’ I said it.” Also a direct quote. So that’s my opinion on this… Remind me to do a review of Greed.*Rankings (by K): Intro : Lost - (5); Red Moon - (5); SINphony - (5); Somebody Like You - (5); Do U Like - (5); Beautiful - (5); The Winter - (5)

A/N: Holy stars. I did it. Okay Pardon me for taking so long, I realized it was going to be pretty long and I would have never been able to write it in less than a month. This idea originated from this post, but in the end it is really nothing like the Princess and the Frog. If you want easter eggs, check the name meaning of the places! And now, I’ll leave you to your hopefully enjoyable reading.
Amnemoneo Town (Former Dukedom), 1865.
« I believe we reached your destination, sir. »
« I suppose so. »
A young man stood beside the gate of a manor, which was glimmering under the blinding sunlight of a Friday morning.
Baroque keys were placed in his hands while his eyes scanned the vividly emerald gardens that looked like real crystals, and contrasted the obsidian exterior of the manor. The building, decorated with gothic features, dominated the area and stood imposing.
The dark of the night would have made the sight … eerie, for sure. The sound of the carriage taking off brought him back to his senses, he turned to raise his arm in a greeting motion.
« Take care, sir … » he couldn’t hear his name over the rumor of horses’ hooves.
His hands moved swiftly over the lock, as if he had done the same motion daily over the years, one of those things you learnt to do with your eyes closed.
With a twist, the gate was open and he followed the rocky path towards the door. His short boots touched the ground in a consistent but not loud one-two, one-two pace.
Bronze plaques and other decorations beautified the entrance; the handle, picturing a lion’s head as the banality of that age’s symbolism wanted, made the young man smirk.
« How pompous. » he mused, and wondered what kind of high power once ruled over the land. A forgotten one perhaps?
With a twist of the handle to the right and some pulling toward himself, the man was surely not ready for the wondrous sight laid out in front of his eyes.
Not only the rooms were immensely spacious, but the expensive-looking furniture, the flooring and ornaments inside together with the perfect usage of dark and light spaces, made it seem like the world and nature around it existed in function to the manor itself. As if that space had always been meant to stand for that building alone.
The heels of his boots clinked against the marble pavement, his fingertips traced invisible discontinuous lines on the voile and velvet curtains he had started to open up.
He smiled as the house started to come to life.
Exploring new spaces often had this cathartic effect on him, as if he’d locked himself in a quiet small room and he had been in need of fresh air.
And when he stepped into a room, in the far back of the house, with dark curtains covering the entrance, when he heard the slight change of sound in his steps, that was when he allowed himself to look down from the garlands hanged on the walls.
Pulling odd familiarity. It was what he felt, what he was finally aware of sensing as soon as his honey-colored irises set their glare upon the pavement.
Tiny tiles of black, orange and white were the background and a frame for a yellowish skeletal figure, seemingly facing the earth. They were giving their back to the man, venturing in the void in front of themselves.
So he smiled. The pulling energy made him slowly move closer to the mosaic, lowering himself on his knees right next to it. His hand seemed to be moving with a mind of its own, hovering over the air right above the depicted skeleton.
Lower.
Lower.
He touched it and, as expected, nothing happened, except for amusement to wash over him.
Of course, what was he thinking? His fate wasn’t going to be like that, at least for a long while.
That wasn’t how beings like him ended up, trapped in a wooden box six feet under the ground. Most times, they were burned alive through howling screams of inhuman pain.
His smile faded and found himself lying next to the figure, his back on the uncomfortable tiles that dug into his skin.
Sure, he could have focused on the beautiful chandelier on the ceiling, the candles still extinguished from years of neglect.
Instead, his mind traveled toward mysterious paths and his hand went from the mosaic to his upper lip, narrowing his eyes and zoning out.
The tip of his tongue went over his upper teeth, causing his lips to part ever so slightly.
With the same hand now raised above his head, a sunray allowed itself to let his yellow glove glow into its presence. He took it off and his white skin shined along with the black of his nails.
People would have thought he’d have it burned off in a matter of seconds.
Legends were curiously foolish.
The man stood up in an agile movement, leaving the skeletal figure behind the same way the idea of death disappeared from his destiny when he had become a vampire.
« Let’s go get some sunburn. » he joked.
It was extremely painful, seeing how the gardens were practically bared of any kind of plant, the wild flowers that hadn’t yet died already wilting under the weight of their stem.
There was a saying back in his town. “Looking high and looking low”, a reminder of being aware of your surroundings in every situation.
Now, our marquis swore he had been careful.
At least, until the moment in which he only looked up at a cloud right above him, ignoring the acuminated object that he was about to step onto.
He could only face the ground before he shut his eyes in a flash and a metal object gripped half of his face, digging into his skin with a merciless push.
To that, the man contrasted a frantic pulling, removing the object as he felt a liquid substance leave his insides and spread all over his hands and face both.
If it hadn’t been for his pretty decent strength, he would’ve probably taken much longer to take it off. Then again, a human being would have been dead by then.
That wasn’t an option for him.
He clutched his face with his left hand, trembling with shots of pain, that traveled through his entire body.
Eyes squeezed shut, he stumbled in the dark and fell to his knees, seething with every doleful scream that escaped his lips wide apart.
He was hunched over himself, the sun rays hitting his exposed skin felt like violent poles through his neck, as he forced down his left arm and lowered it on his legs.
His non-injured eye tentatively opened to be met with nothing more than the contrast between his black clothes and his lavished white skin.
And …
he got blinded by something flickering on his palm. Did some of the rocks end up on his arm?
The unnamed man went for another try, shielding his eye with his free hand.
Gold.
His vision was dark and red with suffering, but all he could see was gold.
He bit hard at his lower lip, breaking it apart just enough to feel more of that same fluid flowing down. He raised his finger and wiped off some of it.
Again, gold.
His mind raced and, as he fell to the ground, blacking out of exhaustion, he came to a single conclusion.
“Royal blood.”
✾✾✾
And just like that, he was awake. The light was … dimmed. Not because grand part of the day had passed, but he felt like he was in the shade.
Well, that would have certainly helped prevent him from getting sunburnt, in the least.
Hold on a moment. Why was he lying face first in the middle of the garden?
« It’s him. » whispers came from around him, he turned his head and was met with three curious children faces.
Curiosity that soon turned into horror. Disgust.
Two children backed away and ran, like two dashing bolts of lightning, deep into the forest that separated him from the inhabited part of town.
One, though, was still staring at him.
He stared back, narrowing his eyes, confused by their reaction, the shadows that he thought he could see with his left eye – which had yet to focus on the scene – and the fact that he had barely woke from his … what? It wasn’t like he had decided to drop down and take a nap just like that.
« I know there’s someone that can help with that. » the kid in purple simple robes spoke softly, but with the typical high pitched voice of an eight-year-old.
Why wasn’t he able to see clearly from both of his eyes?
« Help? » he hoped they didn’t find out about him so quickly.
« Yes. » the boy had his hands wrapped around the gate bars, his face in between them. « For your scar and your eye. »
Everything came back to him at once, like a kick right to his teeth.
The hit, the pain, the screams.
The golden blood.
His hand went to his cheek and, even through his gloves, he could perceive the uneven section of his skin, as if someone had clawed it away. The left eye could only see shadows of the outside world.
Around him, as inexplicable as it sounds, bushes full of flowers had appeared on the grass where the blood had touched it.
So not only he was a vampire.
« Go away. »
But he now would have to also endure be called a monster.
« Now. » the urgency in his voice matched the harshness in his eyes.
The boy gave him one last glance, visibly more intimidated than earlier, and slowly walked away. He made sure to leave a certain piece of paper on the ground, though. Not because he wanted to litter, of course, the kid had manners!
It was just … in case the man needed him.
And he knew the man wouldn’t have lasted, as everything was going according to plan; before we may carry on with the marquis’ fate, we need to first introduce him.
His name was Remus, and he was a prince.
Hah.
Who are we kidding?
The name was Remus and he held the title of the most unfortunate soul of the kingdom he had wanted to forget the name of for about … as long as he’s had a conscience.
Still not convinced?
Let me tempt you to change your mind by starting from the beginning.
Remus was a duke and it was high time that he dropped in our story. Now, be mindful that we said was and not is.
The town he now lived in was once the Dukedom of Amnemoneo, which may sound familiar for our sharpest readers who were careful of our beginning statement.
Even for them, though, we need to go back to a couple of years earlier, when laws weren’t discarded and superstitions were stronger than a man’s own reason.
1839 was the rampant year of the estimated birth of the prince of Ameleia, an event which was awaited by all the people with profound trepidation: the face of the future ruler had always been a privilege for the world to see as soon as the opportunity presented itself.
What they didn’t know, though, was that they would have been blessed actually by two princes that year. What was wrong with that?
They were twins.
In the kingdom of Ameleia, during that particular age of radical puritanism, having twins was the equivalent of selling your soul to evil external forces of hell.
The thought of the good and evil twin, the angel and the literal Antichrist, it was so deep-rooted in the souls of the people that, despite the royalty’s awareness of how fake those beliefs were, the two brothers were forced to separate.
One destined to be a prince, the other to be the duke of an inconsequential land of the kingdom.
The good and the evil.
Only that, the dukedom wasn’t exactly … standing out in any field. Misery had started to pour down on its citizens which led to, eventually, fall into the pit of seemingly non-existent lands that the kingdom had forgotten about.
The sovereigns had also tried to forget Remus.
Judging by how often they made sure he was still alive, which was zero times since they parted ways as he was still a child to be raised by servants in the dukedom’s manor, they had probably made it, too.
So, just like that, when misery had devastated the town so much that any existent title fell and Remus found himself at sixteen locked out of his manor behind the woods, the servants declared their retirement to major families and parted ways with him once and for all. But most of all, he felt the utmost loneliness.
People in town didn’t know much about him, he was aware of his condition, but had always been refrained from talking about it with anyone other than the servants in the building he hardly ever left.
Until one day, around his- their eighteenth birthday.
He had tried his best to survive in the oblivion of poverty, he lived in an abandoned shop; Remus wasn’t exactly aware of how many rats he had crossed paths with while stumbling around the tiny rooms. Not to mention the cats that, seldom, decided to invade his vital space and scare him out of his life when they woke him up by hopping on his chest.
He should have considered windows, had there been any shop of that kind in town.
Don’t even get the people started on food, the subject that made the worst come out of them.
He had tried to go out in a moment that wasn’t the dark of the night. It didn’t exactly go as he had wished.
In front of him, two imposing royal guards blocked his way out of the door. Their faces edgy, expressions hard and eyes dull. It took him a moment to recognize them. Were they going to take him back? After all those years of neglect?
He flinched as both the men unsheathed their swords at him.
« Woah, nice to see you again, too. »
« Silence! » now who were they to behave like that in front of a person of such importance?
« Excuse me? Alright, I might look raveled but a couple of years rotting would do that to anyone. Even a prince like m- »
« Silence. » another repeated.
And hit Remus in the stomach with the hilt of his sword-
The boy contorted with pain with a hand on his stomach and the other on the ground, to alleviate his fall.
His mind raced trying to give himself a reason for their attitude. Two soldiers in disguise? Had he done something illegal? Did they mistake him for someone else?
His ears were ringing, but the only thing he actually heard was his mind going why, why, why, why?
« The royalty is coming. »
Remus regained that tiny bit of strength to look up at them and spoke with a broken voice. « Y-You mean my parents? »
A kick came to his face and he decided against speaking any further.
« Prince Roman is going to visit the Royal Manor, too. »
Oh, and who exactly cared?  Just another name in the “people that turned their back on you their whole life” list.
Why was he bothering to show up after eighteen years?
« And you, » the taller guard leaned down, spitting out his words. « Won’t be allowed out of this place until he leaves. Clear? »
Remus could only eye him from the ground he had been trying to get up from. « Crystal. » he muttered, without missing his sarcastic tone as the two men left.
So his parents were embarrassed of him to the point of not showing up in his presence? Big deal. Who cared?
He ended up spending a week of almost literal imprisonment before he was let out.
There was no living soul able to tell how he managed to survive. The boredom, though, had brought him to actually clean the place around for once and find out about its origins.
It happened when a singular book stood out of a shelf, as if eager to be picked up. Remus did as it desired. Pages flipped in front of his eyes before he had been able to touch a single scrap of paper and he was directed to a particular segment of a paragraph which seemed to be handwritten years earlier, before the former owner left the place.
Magic antiques were the only readable words.
After some looking around – and a myriad of unrecognizable unknown objects inside cabinets – he decided he was going to get to the bottom of it.
Thus the years spent into mastering the Art of Transfiguration all the bookshelves of the abandoned shop seemed to offer.
Of course, mistakes happened almost constantly at first, especially the permanent one that turned a streak of his hair white: he had been trying to recite a formula to turn one of the rats into an inanimate object.
He ended up transforming himself into a white animal, but that was beyond the point and he wasn’t going to bring that up to anyone. He’d have preferred to fake a heart wrenching and tragic backstory.
And, well, when he heard of the northern man coming to town on the same period of time as Roman used to yearly come back for some reason, when Remus learnt to automatically lock himself in his shop, an idea dawned on him.
And with it, he was sure he was going to get his Manor back.
That was the reason why, when he saw a boy in purple robes walking with a couple of kids in the deserted streets, mumbling about the gossip going around on the newcomer, he carefully approached with a piece of paper in his hand.
« Hello there, children. » he crouched down at their eye level. « Do you want to know a secret about him? »
And children? Well, they were far too gullible. What was even better about it was when fate was on your side; fate that, in that moment, had the name of a certain metallic trap he had left in the middle of the manor’s garden he hadn’t seen in years.
Everything was falling into place.
✾✾✾
Just like Roman thought earlier that day as both he and the newcomer had just arrived in town.
He had been walking around towards a lesser known path he used to take to reach a certain family’s residence.
That was when Roman saw him, standing next to an open carriage led by a pair of black horses that seemed to sternly stare him down.
He was … odd. Unlikely to be common part of the citizens, the man stood out compared to the commoners roaming in the streets and he was unable to tear his eyes off of him.
Unknown, however, kept his back facing the prince, as he helped the coachman heave up a bag on the carriage. He moved with delicacy even while stretching his muscles.
Roman wondered for a moment if he were living some kind of lucid dream.
Since there was no way for him to turn his head 360°, he forced himself to keep his gaze straight ahead and forget about that crystalline laughter he just so happened to overhear while walking on to other side of the road.
And, oh, what a particularly handsome look he portrayed with his features and-
Right, the household.
Blood that just overflowed left his cheeks and he crossed the hidden path: it was pretty weird how none, apart from the family he was about to visit, in that town seemed to recognize him. Still, his parents were always eager to remind him to let himself be seen the less he could, ever since he had decided to travel to Amnemoneo alone.
« Ro-bro! »
Roman’s head snapped up and a huge smile automatically spread on his lips, recognizing whose voice it was in an instant. He was only able to see a flash of purple running towards him as tiny arms were lacing around his waist.
A kid’s face looked up at him, big lilac eyes boring into his own.« You’re back! »
« Of course I am, Vivi. »
« I told you not to call me that. » the kid whined, frowning at him and loosening a bit of his embrace.
« Alright, alright, as you wish, my lord. » Roman lowered only to pick him up from under his shoulders.
« That’s a better title. » no ten-year-old should have been able to have that kind of sarcasm.
Roman scoffed. « I should tell Logan and Patton to stop spoiling you. »
« Falsehood! »
The prince couldn’t help but laugh as the kid mimicked his father, failing in sounding as serious as him. Roman held his hand out to the boy.
« Come on Virgil, let’s go in. »
✾✾✾
He loved visiting his friends. When he surpassed the limit between the street and the gate of their property, a welcoming warmth washed over him and he felt at home, like he’d always belonged there, a mystical comfort that eased up whatever worries concerned him.
Patton was to blame for picking up a few tricks from his wizard husband, for sure.
Roman knocked on the door and it didn’t take long for Patton’s arms to be wrapped around him with a gasp.
« Woah, hey buddy. » the prince stumbled backwards before releasing his friend.
« We sensed you were coming. » Patton confessed, pointing behind himself where Logan was standing, smiling and waving a hand in their direction.
Roman waved back, amused. « I literally can’t hide anything from you, can I? »
They invited him, basically being pushed and pulled by both Virgil and Patton, excitedly, towards a certain cake they all helped to make (especially Virgil for the little precise decorations.) in honor of his birthday.
Everything in their home sparked a magical energy: Logan had always been a mage in the shadows, careful not to be discovered thanks to his profession as biologist and doctor, in some way. After Patton made his way into his life, magic started being part of him, too. The barrier around their home was his doing, it kept away people with malevolent intentions and let the other ones be welcomed in a soft invisible embrace.
As for Virgil … they didn’t really talk about that. Roman knew something about a scientific experiment and a reject they found. He knew they had saved him and given him a life. But the kid wasn’t ready to know the truth yet, so it wasn’t a topic to bring up.
« Oh, speaking of which. » Logan lowered the cup he was bringing to his lips. « Did you hear of the marquis moving to town today? »
Roman snapped back to reality. « He’s a marquis? »
« You saw him?! » Virgil leaned forward with wide eyes and curiosity written all over his face.
All gazes were set on him. « Well, I believe I might have seen him before coming here. » the memory of the man’s figure flashed in his mind. « He didn’t look like he was from town. » Roman didn’t mention his other considerations.
« Are you going to marry him? »
Children and their perfectly embarrassing questions. But there was definitely nothing awkward about it, was there? He didn’t even know the man.
« Calm down, Vi, that’s not how it works. » Logan softly pushed him back against his seat to sit up straight.
« But he has a title, like Ro-bro. Isn’t it logical? »
He smiled. « Well- »
« You have to admit, » Patton chimed in, repressing a giggle. « Virgil has a point. »
Virgil turned to Logan with a toothy grin, a silent “see?” was understood between the two of them.
« Why don’t you ask Roman about it? »
« Yes. » the prince admitted with a defeated sigh. « I was planning on bringing him here to announce our engagement but you had to ruin that! » he faked an accusing tone.
« That’s what you get for betraying me! You said you were going to make me a prince. » Virgil pouted and Roman really had to stop himself from pinching his cheeks.
He stood up and approached him, crouching down next to his seat. « Let me tell you a secret. » he began stage whispering. « I can still do that, when I am king, you can become my prince son!  Come with me and run away from these two oldies. »
A chorus of “excuse you?” followed with the other two’s laughter.
As hours flew by and Virgil left to play with some friends, Roman found himself back at the front door, which was being held for him.
« Are you sure you don’t want to stay and eat something? » Patton searched the prince’s face with instinctual concern.
« You know it’s not a problem for us to conjure a seat for you. Or anything else, if you desire to stay. » added Logan, with a tone softer than usual.
Roman had always found endearing how protective they were of him: before they settled in Amnemoneo, they used to meet each other quite often. Logan and Patton seemed to be on every path Roman had to cross and, eventually, they grew attached to each other.
Then again, the prince visited their town every year around his birthday, in a sort of tradition, to have a little theatrical representation in his honor.
Only that he had to be given permission to occupy the manor, so …
« I must go to the town hall, to check the availability of the building, same old required formalities. » Roman half-smiled. « Thank you, regardless. »
And exchanging goodbyes, off he was, unaware of the fact that he had to make yet another trip to the building which was occupied by our beloved marquis.
✾✾✾
A beloved marquis who had left that same building a couple of hours earlier than when the prince had gone to the town hall.
He was … defeated. So, he surrendered to the will of persuasion and picked up the piece of paper left at the gates by the purple clothed kid.
A visiting card?
Looking like this, it was unlikely for him to show himself with the sun still shining up above in the surprisingly limpid sky. It would have rendered his scarred face just as clear to the ones roaming mindlessly in town.
For some reason, most of the population seemed to aimlessly wander about all the time, in a state of daze.
Was anybody actually going to notice his presence at all?
As if pulled by an outer force that had already made up his mind, the man crumpled up the paper card in his hand he clutched to his chest and moved through the forest like it was his second home.
He dragged his feet between the crunch of autumn leaves and the damp grass still suffering from the rain of the day before. His fingertip brushed the injured side of his face a second time.
And he felt nothing.
He could see nothing from his left eye but there was no pain, there was no adjustment to be made because it felt like he had been like that his whole life. In the middle. Between pain and numbness, recovery and illness, sight and blindness.
Life and death, light and dark.
Because of his condition, all that he was, also wasn’t.
So when he hurt himself to the point of almost mortally wounding himself, he also didn’t. The bleeding stopped in no time and the injury only left an ugly mark.
But, of course, on top of that, he had to discover he had golden blood. Royal blood, which meant not only sharper senses and abilities than average of his kind, but also an overly deadly power roaming in his insides.
Maybe that was why, years earlier, that old woman inexplicably died the day after she wiped his face clear of tears and offered him shelter. One of the many places he had to run away from.
The marquis had no time to ponder about his condition, as his feet stopped right in front of the entrance of his destination.
« Well, well, well, what have we here. »
He looked to his left and saw a man hanging upside down from the opened window, looking amused in his direction.
« I didn’t expect you so soon. You didn’t leave me time to make myself presentable! »
In all honesty, he had to agree. That other man looked … absolutely disheveled, as if he had dressed in the dark and hadn’t looked in a mirror for a lifetime.
Not that most of the citizens here didn’t send the same aura.
He looked down to the visiting card. « You’re Remus? »
« The one, » he began, moving swiftly from the window to the door he opened right after, stepping aside to let the man see the desert inside. « And lonely. » he theatrically bowed.
The marquis was then pulled in by Remus, who shut the door behind them and led them to a counter at the centre of the modest room.
« Now, let’s see. » he flipped through the pages of an enormous tome. « A curious spell for our particular vampire. »
The man’s eyes widened in shock.
« Wh- » he was met with a smirk. « How- » the marquis backed away, the utmost fright rising in his chest. His back touched the shelf against the wall.
« Aw, now, fear not, my dear foreigner. » Remus let the door open with a swift movement of his wrist. « You can leave, if you so desire. »
The newcomer eyed him warily. There was no way that wasn’t a trap.
Remus tilted his head and contorted his mouth. « You don’t want to? Fine with me. »
« Wait. »
« I’ll make you leave … as a newer person than how you entered! »
The marquis’ eyes were blinded by a flashing light that seemed to have completely devoured him.
He felt his body shrink, twist and contort under the weight of a thousand formulas that were operating on his form.
A thundering headache caught his forehead and he curled on himself until he couldn’t feel his limbs anymore, his eyes squeezed shut.
When he was able to open them again, he recognized exactly in what condition he ended up.
Remus had turned him into a bat.
But wait, he was already able to do that, what was the usefulness behind that?
He tried to get back to his human body.
And tried.
And tried again.
Nothing happened.
Dear god.
« Hope you enjoy your whole new life, special costumer, and remember, » Remus managed to drive the bat out of his shop. « No take-backs! » he slammed the door shut.
And the marquis flew away frantically for his life, which was probably going to change forever.
Only that he didn’t know it was because the encounter he was about to have at the manor.
✾✾✾
Gosh, that was inconvenient!
Roman played with the lock at the gates, going over the bass-relief decorated on top. The consistency of the material noted that a very long time had passed since someone had inhabited the place. Yet, now there seemed to be someone?
Waiting for them was the right thing to do and not totally creepy, right?
Ri-?
Like a flock of ravens storming away in the morning from the local farmer’s terrain, Roman heard an erratic drumming of wings toward his general direction and ducked whatever was coming down at him.
There was a thud and a screech before the prince was able to spot a barely moving bat lying painfully on the ground.
« Oh. » Roman stood in his place for a few seconds. « Oh, dear. » he crouched down next to the animal, which appeared to be a diurnal bat.
Perhaps it had gotten lost?
« Hey, little one- woah! » it tried to move, as if in fear of his presence, when Roman’s hand motioned toward its body.
He examined it to look for a way to heave it up and his eyes fell on the left wing. The broken tissue was tangled in a leaf on the ground.
« Oh, you poor thing! » there had always been this complex but profound understanding when it came to animals: he felt like they had some kind of connection with him.
As he leaned over the bat, he could almost feel its pain. He had to help.
Roman tried to pacify it by speaking softly, while he attentively eased it in his hands. He had a single place in mind.
« No panic, little friend. » he whispered, mostly to himself, biding his farewell to the manor and the unseen marquis behind himself. « We’re going to get you all better in no time. »
He had to find Logan again.
✾✾✾
« Did you change your mind? » Patton abruptly cut off as Roman stormed into his and Logan’s home for the second time that day.
« I require a hand. » the prince announced, approaching Logan who had been eyeing him since he entered the room. « A scientific one, if that’s possible. » Roman added, showing the animal cupped in his hands.
The bat tried to stretch both wings, failing miserably.
« That’s odd. »
« Huh? »
Logan searched for something specific none but him could name. « This is an adult bat and yet he seems to not have adjusted to his body entirely. » without taking his eyes off the creature, he moved them both towards the table Logan used for his experiments and works. « Furthermore, there’s no such thing as bat hunting here. And yet it looks like something might have scared him. Plus, there are no bats around here. »
The animal was laid on a piece of cloth on the table’s surface and the doctor started taking his tools out.
A pair of curious eyes stared from the other side of the room.
« Do you want to assist, Virgil? » Logan looked at him with the corner of his eyes, offering him a smile. The kid beamed and rushed to his side, while Roman observed their work from the other side of the table, Patton joining them shortly after.
« Be careful, please. » Roman stared in anticipation at the bat, as if expecting to feel pain in an empathetic sort of link.
Logan stopped and glanced at him through his glasses, a grin on his lips. « You still emotional over animals? »
« Shut your mouth and do your magical science. »
Though he was baffled at the oxymoron, Logan complied regardless, with Virgil handing him what he needed at his side.
It didn’t take long before Patton and Virgil were the only ones left in the room to tend to the creature as the other two discussed the happening over coffee.
« Could you imagine if he could talk? » the kid abruptly turned to his father. « He would tell us what he was escaping from. »
Patton made a humming sound, considering the idea. « Well, there might be a way. » he conceded, opening a small notebook and flipping through the pages. When he found the right spell, he turned to look at his son.
« Just for a couple of minutes, okay? » a mischievous but child-like smile formed on Virgil’s lips, satisfied.
That one was the exact moment in which all of our stories converged.
With Patton’s magic flickering in the room and toiling with the chains of the incommunicability between two beings that don’t talk the same language.
« Hey, Mr. Bat, you can talk now! »
« Oh, can I? » a sarcastic satin voice broke the anticipation. « Wait. Was that me? » the marquis’ day was already so weird, that might as well have happened too.
« This is so cool! It worked! » Virgil leaned enthusiastically over the animal, which was questioning the insanity of his earlier choice. Not that he could do much else.
« What worked? » Logan’s voice sounded hurried across the room.
« Oops. »
Patton revealed a sly smile to his husband, pretending they did nothing big like giving a previously non sentient creature the ability to speak.
At least they thought he wasn’t sentient before.
« What’s going on? »
« Virgil? »
« Patton! »
« Excuse me! » all those present turned their heads toward the source of sound, who was none else but the animal himself. « I believe I might be the most perplexed one in here. »
Logan sighed deeply and approached the table. « I apologize … » he stopped, unsure of how he should have carried on. « How do you address a bat? »
« Let me do the talking. » Roman shoved him aside, the buzzing feeling of his connection to the animal lingered. « Greetings, amiable creature. It just so happens that- »
« It’s you. » the bat stared intensely in Virgil’s direction after heaving himself up the best he could.
« Huh? » was all the kid could say.
« You gave me the card. You told me he would have helped. I wouldn’t actually call this helping, you know? »
Then, it dawned on Virgil. « You’re the marquis? »
« Precisely, somehow. »
Everybody’s behavior seemed to change at that; the kid realized his mistake, Roman slowly backed away in sudden shyness while Patton and Logan connected the dots.
« You sent him to Remus? » both of them demanded in unison, surprised. They had warned him plenty of times in the past not to approach the man’s shop: it wasn’t exactly because they believed him to be wicked, as they had never interacted, but any magician was at war with another unless stated otherwise. It seemed to be an unspoken rule, none was to be trusted.
« You know him? » the man, now bat, felt hope rise in his chest.
« Barely. » Patton admitted. « His shop has this weird peculiarity which causes it to change place within the town every day. He doesn’t seem to be bothered, but it’d surely be a pain to find him now. »
If bats could sigh in defeat, the marquis had just done that.
« Let’s start from the beginning. » Logan gathered some chairs with a swift movement of his wrist. « What exactly happened to you? »
Ah. That was going to be fun.
How to tell your story in detail while leaving out the plot points that determine that you’re a vampire while talking to four most likely intelligent people that could connect the dots in no time?
Truly a piece of cake for our favorite man of town, wasn’t it?
I came here, I contemplated my dead life on a mosaic, I injured myself with- I actually still have no idea what it was, a bunch of children saw me, your son handed me this visiting card, I went there and this charming guy had the nerve to transform me into a bat to solve my aesthetical issue.
Nailed it.
Okay, maybe that wasn’t exactly what he told them, but it was around there more or less.
Fortunately, they didn’t ask further questions; the real issue presented itself when Logan pointed out the hex Remus had thrown on the marquis was too powerful for his own magic.
After some discussing, they resigned to having to find him and force him to reverse the spell. Of course, in the meantime, Roman was the one to offer himself to help the bat in their mission.
« Oh! Are you going to marry him as a bat now? »
Roman sprinted out of the house with the animal in his hands as he heard a “What was that?” coming from him.
✾✾✾
« It must be tough, this whole situation I mean. To you. Finding yourself randomly flying at once. » Roman had no idea where all his eloquence had gone to, while he kept the bat steady on his shoulder.
They were on their way to the manor, just a few meters away from the gates, so that they could have made their plan to reach Remus while also arranging the place for the theater production.
Which was also never going to take place.
But Roman didn’t know that.
« Not really. » the marquis responded. « It’s easy to adjust to this condition. » he also was quick to add, as there were no means of explaining to the prince of the truth about his identity.
Mostly for his safety.
« Well then, that’s good. »
Awkward silence followed until the gates presented themselves to their eyes, now only a meter away. Of course, as the man’s body disappeared with his belongings, the key was gone too.
He guided Roman to a clearing in the bushes he had noticed before the inevitable had happened.
« Oh! That’s pretty. » the prince immediately marched towards a group of flowers seemingly put in a random disposition.
The marquis didn’t remember them being there.
He did remember golden blood, though.
« Wait! »
Roman halted altogether, confusion written all over his face. « They’re not going to eat me, sir. » he commented, as he crouched down in front of them.
« Please, you need to listen to me. » an urgent tone filled the silence of the gardens. « They weren’t there before. » an half-lie. « Knowing what happened to me, we better not touch anything else. » to preserve oneself.
Still baffled that simple plants could hurt anyone, Roman complied and slowly rose to his feet. His new direction was the wooden doors and, ultimately, that one very comfortable-looking sofa right in the middle of the vast living room.
The bat was placed on top of the coffee table and Roman leaned forward with his elbows on his knees to give him more attention.
In all honesty, he knew that was actually that tremendously handsome marquis he saw earlier that day, but gosh darn if he didn’t have the urge to pet the little animal every time he looked at him. Not his fault if he looked soft, now.
The prince cleared his throat. « Alright. The production can wait until we’ve found a way to turn you back. What do we know about Remus until now? »
« His spells are irreversible unless he’s the one to break them. »
« No asking Logan or Patton for help, then. »
« His shops shows up at random places at random times. »
« Unpredictable locations, we’d need to search the whole town every day. »
« He also looks a bit like you. »
Roman did a double take. « I’m sorry? »
If bats could shrug, the prince was sure he had just done that. « I’m just stating what I know about him. » he was given an odd look. « Don’t you worry, your majesty, you still win in attractiveness if that concerns you. »
And there Roman was, getting flustered because of a bat.
A handsome bat in person though.
He meant the person, of course.
Was he ever going to stop thinking about-
« I’m sure you do, too. »
« What was that? »
What the hell, Roman?
« Nothing! » he dramatically got up opening his arms. « So yeah, planning. »
« Sure. » the man didn’t sound convinced.
« The moment you heal your wing, you could fly up above the place so we can find the shop sooner. Until then, I could stay here and keep the rumors about your disappearance down by focusing the chattering on me, rather than you. »
« Am I wrong to believe you have a natural instinct of putting yourself in the spotlight or …? »
« Absurd. I am merely sacrificing my image to protect yours. » the ghost of a grin painted Roman’s lips.
« Oh, I am more than honored to be blessed by such generosity. » a giggle filled the room.
« I will grant you my protection. »
« I must thank you for your kindness, your Royal Highness. »
They would soon find to absolutely love that kind of bantering.
✾✾✾
Things … developed from there.
Between walks in town, with the bat rigorously on Roman’s shoulder and his claws gripping tight on his clothes, talks about their favorite interests.
Chasing.
They had almost made it once. They had seen a suspicious figure roaming in the narrowest streets. The man they saw had immediately pulled up his hood at their sight and vanished in the darkness of a dead end.
Underwhelmed by the event, they had called it a day and withdrawn to the manor.
That was when the marquis found out Roman actually recited lines from plays he had never heard out loud when dreadful feelings caught him.
He would lie on a mattress and throw an arm over his eyes. Then, his voice did the magic. He didn’t even need his body to express his emotions, already clear with the tone he used.
And yet, he whispered. He almost only mouthed them, but in his head, they were perfect.
To the bat’s ears, they were divine, to say the least.
Theatre was something they occasionally talked about, starting from the production that should have taken place in that very building, to every little piece of memory Roman held dear of plays he’d seen in his past.
He noticed his eyes shining bright as he jumped between different specks of his life, the excitement in his storytelling intensified every day more.
And with it, also the marquis’ … appreciation for the prince.
All the little details changed in his point of view as the weeks fled.
For instance, goodness, did he like his singing.
It was as if Roman went from reciting troubled monologues when sad, to singing his heart out in his happiest moments. And it was beautiful.
« Hold me. Whatever lies beyond this morning is a little later on. Regardless of warnings, the future doesn’t scare me at all. Nothing’s like before. »
When his wing had started to heal so much that he could fly a little, he often rushed to reach the prince and see the show.
And at some point, especially as Roman noticed him, he started partaking in them too.
Although he didn’t have a single idea on how acting worked and often ended up just mesmerized by Roman’s voice and the beauty that shined in him when he explained plots and intricate points with a fiery passion.
If somebody had asked him, he wouldn’t have been able to tell which was the exact moment where he developed feelings for the young prince.
Maybe upon hearing his giggling in the forest, while walking towards town. Maybe when he discovered yet another of his talents. Or maybe when he mixed singing with acting in the most splendid of exhibitions he had ever witnessed.
He had definitely come to terms with it when a thought dawned on him, the thought of having to leave him once his body was back. It ate away at his stomach, it was as if something inside him told him he should have stayed that way forever, if it meant keeping the prince by his side.
He didn’t want to lose him anymore.
Getting his body back would have meant having to part ways forever. The marquis knew he had to leave as soon as he could have. And it simply and utterly sucked.
He also knew he should’ve gotten rid of those feelings, none would have agreed to keep up with his lifestyle anyway.
Constantly on the run and go.
As he watched him dance alone in the mosaic room, he recognized that no, that wasn’t going to happen anytime soon.
✾✾✾
For Roman, it was a little different.
Sure, he had always thought that the bat looked kind of adorable, but he couldn’t shake off the realization that he had seen the marquis’s human body. He knew what he looked like and it was kinda like he was hugging him constantly when he kept him in his hands, close to his chest.
And it wasn’t like he actually wanted to change that, once the issue was over.
Though, the thought of that made his heartbeat a tiny bit faster than usual, which made him an awful lot more flustered, as if he had just told the person concerned.
The feeling didn’t vanish with time, but only strengthened.
He couldn’t even imagine his baffled expression as the marquis trailed off in one of their conversations as he started talking about issues deep within the human soul.
The bat’s immense knowledge of both psychology and philosophy was to be admired, maybe the biggest Roman had ever encountered even between the royals around him.
There were some literary circles, but sometimes human sciences were frowned upon and the royalty was denied any kind of education on them.
« Roman? » the marquis had called out to the man lying on the couch in front of him.
Who was, at the moment, inexorably asleep with his face in his arms.
He was going to apologise about that for the rest of his life, but hey, when you’re tired, you’re tired.
It was also pretty endearing how he woke up to a blanket messily laid onto his body.
What demoralised him, despite all the giddiness in his stomach, was when he noticed the marquis seemed to be keeping something from him. Nothing he could pinpoint exactly, yet he knew there was a topic he brushed off.
Mostly when he talked about his family.
Nothing came out of those conversations, which led Roman to think of the worst: he couldn’t imagine what kind of relationship he must have or have had with his parents, or what sort of situation he was in.
What he was sure about was that he felt for him.
Felt happiness around him, empathy when the other was down, sorrow in words never spoken but events that had already happened and scarred the marquis’s heart.
He felt way deeper than how he felt for other people.
Thus, he could recognize that, ultimately, he fell for him, too.
✾✾✾
When you look for the perfect sign, you tend to withdraw until the right occasion presents itself.
« Goodness, » Roman laughed quietly in the kitchen, turned to the cupboards on the wall. « It seems people started spreading rumors about me being a vampire because they saw you on my shoulder. »
And when that happens, an anxious buzzing starts shaking your insides.
« That … would be a shame. » the bat looked down, unsure of his own words.
« Why would that be? » Roman turned with curiosity. « Sure, I’d lose some colour, but heightened senses? Amazing powers? »
« That depends. »
« How so? »
« Blood chaste. How you were turned. The assets of the vampire that turned you or gave birth to you. »
The prince smiled through pursed lips. « Seems like someone read a dark ancient book from the Index of forbidden books. »
« Well … » and the buzzing grew louder. « I can talk from experience, too. »
He waited for the realization to hit.
« W-wait. Do you mean you met them, or …? »
He sighed the same way a bat could. « It is not a curse, Roman, you can say it. But yes, the latter. »
What he was also waiting for was fear. Disgust. Rejection. Anything but whatever crossed the prince’s mind.
« Oh my- »
« I know- »
« -I haven’t been giving you proper food for weeks! »
What now?
The man wasn’t sure whether he thought it or actually said it out loud.
« How long can you go without blood? It’s been six weeks tomorrow, oh dear, you must be starving. » Roman put his hands on his hair. He had this instinctual habit of worrying for others’ well-being before actually thinking rationally about the situation around him.
Maybe it was his princely duties to make him think that way, maybe he really didn’t want to think about the wonderland he felt like he stepped into when he realized he fell in love- he fancied a vampire.
Actually, a myriad of thoughts swirled in his head.
« I- No, I’m perfectly fine. My blood chaste is the highest, meaning I can go a very long time without drinking. »
« Oh. »
« You don’t have to … worry? » the marquis tried.
“But I always worry about you” was what Roman wanted to answer.
« Are you, like, some kind of royal in your chaste? » that was when they started traveling down dangerous paths.
« Sort of. I only just found that out, when I bled because of the garden trap. » the marquis remembered how confused he felt at the glimmering liquid on his hand.
Roman’s voice and expression both softened up. « You … don’t know who turned you? »
« Honestly, I only have a name. It’s kind of complicated. »
« Very well then, » Roman placed a cup of hot flaming tea on the surface of the table, not too far away from the bat. He sat down. « I’m willing to understand. »
The marquis took a deep breath and paused, sorting out the thoughts in his head.
« I’m from a country in the north. You may think I’m wealthy because of my title, but its value is actually nonexistent. My parents barely had anything to survive and … well, when they felt their life slowly fade away, they knew I wasn’t going to make it on my own. Barely anyone in my town would have been able to. »
« Apparently, they had someone they could rely on. The only thing I know is his name is Thomas … » he paused. Maybe he should’ve gone to look for him ever since. « They had told me to open a box as soon as things went wrong. Inside, I found a vial and a letter with all the instructions. I followed them and prepared myself before, well, committing to the act. After that, I learnt everything I needed to know and started to look for different places to stay. »
The bat seemed to shrug. Roman had now his arms crossed on the table and his face half-buried in them, paying careful attention. He also wanted to hide the frown in his face.
« And now I’m here. »
« I wish- » the prince instantly commented, rising from his slouched position. « I don’t know. I just wish we would take better care of every single spot under our reign. »
« Roman. » the marquis spoke in a reprimanding but softer tone. « Both you and I know that’s impossible nowadays. »
« It still should be my duty to not let things like these happen. » he looked to the side. « But does the assembly ever listen to me? Absolutely not. You have no idea how many times I’ve told them about how we could change this town for the better. I’ve been rejected at any given prompt. »
Were he an actual human at the moment, Roman would have probably seen the compassion flooding the man’s face.
« I really don’t get it. It’s that simple! » the prince opened his arms. « And then- and then something like this happens. » he pointed to the bat. « Because people have no other choice, thanks to us. »
« It isn’t a wrong choice, though. » a pair of perplexed eyes set on him. « I mean, to some extent, I’m still alive. And I think, with the right knowledge and time to adjust, it isn’t so bad after all. »
« Well … »
« No, I’m serious. You might need to change your life, but years after you know your routine. And I don’t have to worry about many other issues I was constantly anxious about before. »
A small smile crept on Roman’s lips at that. « You sure? »
« I’m fine, Ro. Really. »
The prince considered, staring at the marquis with his head tilted to the side. There had to be something else he could have done, apart from giving him back his body. Something that could have assured his safety, to say the least.
Roman wished to erase all of his concerns.
« I want you to find a place where you can stay until it doesn’t fascinate you anymore. » he gave voice to his musings. « Maybe … you could come with me when we’re done here? » he suggested, slowly brightening as ideas formed in his mind. The theatre production didn’t matter anymore, anyway.
« How so? »
« A prince always has his ways. There are infinite possibilities! Think about it, I know where everyone is all the time, I would know where to keep you. My parents don’t even remember the servants’ faces. »
« Oh, to be a humble servant in love with the prince. » the bat mocked.
« In love? » Roman repeated, amusement in his expression. And a very invisible and sudden twist of his heart.
« For sure. »
Jokes on them.
« Well then, my humble servant. » the prince got up and moved the cup of tea he definitely didn’t forget on the counter and walked towards the door of the room. « We have a big day ahead so I’m going to rest. You should try to get some sleep too since you won’t tomorrow. »
« How many times do I have to say bats aren’t strictly a nightly species? »
« One more, please. »
When their laughter was done, Roman lingered on the entrance.
« Thank you for opening up to me. And … please consider what I told you, okay? »
« I will. » the man answered warmly.
With that, they were both left to their sleepless night, daydreaming about possibilities they hoped could come real.
But the marquis had already made up his mind.
✾✾✾
His blood ran cold as he felt the tip of a sword being pointed to his back. Well, fucking shit.
« Hello there, is the shop open? » Remus knew exactly whose voice that was despite the fact that he had never heard it once in his entire life.
When he turned, he was met with none else but the prince’s figure standing tall behind him, while a tiny bat sat attentive on his shoulder. Of course.
Remus got up, his hood still covering the majority of his face.
« To what do I owe the pleasure? »
« No playing around. » Roman demanded, serious in his tone and eyes. He stared at Remus as he moved, sword raising with every movement. « Change my friend back this instant. »
Oh, marvelous. They were friends now, how could he have not taken that into account?
« Sorry, business is closed at the moment. » he retorted, spitting his words out. The sword flew to his chin in an instant.
« Are you sure about that? » venom, nothing but venom, more than the marquis had ever felt in his own body.
Remus sighed and eventually lowered his hood, revealing his identity once and for all. « You sure do know how to have fun, my dearest brother. »
And Roman almost dropped his weapon on the ground.
He had called him what now?
The prince went quickly over the facial features of the man in front of his eyes, it felt like looking at his own mirror, minus the facial hair and the white streak.
Or the dark circles around his eyes and the pale almost ill-looking skin.
Maybe it felt actually like looking at a mirror that showed an alternate life in which all he had found was misery. And he couldn’t help but be overwhelmed by a sense of pity.
« We’re- You- I’m sorry. I apologize. I’m … I’m confused. »
Remus arched an eyebrow. « Confused? What’s there to explain? »
« How in the world I have never known I had a twin brother, for instance. » Roman placed the bat on a stable surface next to him, afraid he would have made him fall as his entire body seemed to be trembling with an overflow of emotions.
What was happening?
« Never known? » the former duke opened his arms. « Hadn’t you refrained from acknowledging me this whole time? »
« What? » the prince’s mind was racing. « I’d never do that! I don’t even know your name! » tears welled up in his eyes from frustration. He had to keep it together, gosh why was it so difficult?
« Okay, okay. Hold on a second. »
« The bat talks? »
« I know. Mages. »
« Both of you, sit down. » the marquis demanded, seriousness fading as, sadly, his size didn’t help in making him believable enough.
The two brothers complied anyway.
« Now, you may take turns in speaking. »
« Yeah, what the hell happened? Mom and dad never gave you the evil twin speech? »
Roman shrugged in confusion. « I guess not. I promise to you, I was grown to believe to be an only child. They never told me about you … I guess that’s the reason why they never wanted me to come here alone in the first place. Have you always been here? »
« Since I can recall. » Remus nodded, his mind traveling as far back as it could. « This wasn’t a town at first. It was my dukedom. But our beloved parents destroyed it before I could even reach the age of ruling. I lived here with some servants, but they left as soon as they declared negated all the titles in this land. I was locked out of the manor and I tried to survive on my own from there. » the rage in his brother’s chest filled the gap in his childhood that could have been taken by his time with Remus.
« Every time you came here, I was locked inside my shop for days. As you can see, I got bored and studied whatever magical stuff was in there and this is where I ended up. » he pointed to the bat who was staring at them.
« This is insane! » Roman talked still in disbelief.
« You can say our parents may be two pieces of shit. »
« Doing this only to protect their image? » the prince seemed to be talking to himself, until he turned to his brother again. « I’m sorry on their behalf. I literally have no words to describe how awful I feel. » he rested his face in his hands and sighed deeply. What was there to say? It’s not like he could have done much else with no knowledge of his existence.
Then, an idea.
« We’re going to get your manor back. »
« Huh? »
« And the dukedom. I’ll make sure to restore your titles. Unless you don’t want to come back as a prince, as it should be your right. »
Remus considered the possibilities, he did want to get at least his early decent life back, but … the idea of his parents in front of his eyes and constantly around him didn’t sit right with him.
« I’ll … think about it? » his gaze stopped on the bat. « What about him? »
« Believe me, if you turn me back right now I can leave the entire town to your own needs. »
He chuckled. Ah, the sweet sound of desperation.
Remus focused just that itty bit he needed, before muttering a spell under his breath and sending a green flicker to hit the animal’s body.
And that was it.
As if nothing had ever happened, there the actual marquis stood, in flesh and bones, as alive as his condition permitted him to be, leaning against whatever he was previously standing on as a bat.
The scars were still splitting his blind eye and cheek in a half.
As the man checked his body for anomalies, Remus didn’t definitely miss how his brother held his breath involuntarily. He side glanced both of them, as the eyes of the two met holding the gaze for a few seconds.
Yeah. It seemed kind of obvious.
« This is all? »
He nodded.
Roman stood up in a rush, as if he had just remembered how to move his limbs, and launched himself at the now anthropomorphic figure of the marquis.
« Gosh, finally, we made it! »
Though, the other’s enthusiasm wasn’t exactly as strong.
« You can’t do anything for the scars? » he looked over to Remus, who didn’t even have the time to reply as Roman, well, he didn’t really think he was going to let him go down that way.
« I think he shouldn’t. » he offered the hint of a smile. « You look absolutely fine with them. »
« For the love of the greatest Sorcerer, if you need to get it on please stay away from my manor. »
Roman really really wished he still had the sword in his grip in that exact moment.
Gay panic ensued, together with very flustered people and a soon to be again duke leading the way back to the town centre. Before they could reach the manor, Remus stopped, his shop nearby.
« I’ll think about your offer. » he informed Roman. « In the meantime, I think I’ll have some packing to do. » he pointed to his left, revealing the door of his shop right next to him.
His brother nodded and saluted him with a movement of his hand and a subtle smile. When he turned, Remus grabbed the marquis’s shoulder.
« Listen, I see how you look at each other. »
The man arched an eyebrow. « And? »
« Just. Don’t do anything stupid. »
« Nothing you would do, then? »
« Precisely. »
The marquis laughed quietly. « I’ll do my best. »
Remus honestly didn’t know what to expect from that.
✾✾✾
« Hey. »
So close.
His hand lingered on the gates’ bars. He turned and was met with a figure standing beside him, arms crossed and a dull expression adorned by hurt eyes.
« Going for a walk? » Roman’s tone was everything he didn’t want to hear.
The man sighed. Doing this the hard and painful way hadn’t been his intention. Yet, he knew he had to break Remus’s promise as soon as he had made it.
« Roman- »
« You could have just told me. »
He took a minimal step back. « What? »
« That you weren’t even planning on staying. » Roman was looking him in the eyes and it felt like keeping your gaze close to the fire. « You didn’t need to lead me on until now only to leave me like this. »
« It’s not that. » he intruded, speaking softly.
« Say it. » the prince sounded exasperated. « Just say it already. At least I can convince myself it isn’t my fault. »
« It’s not. » was there someone at fault? The marquis pressed his fingertips on the inner corner of his eyes. He didn’t want to do this. He really didn’t want to. « I can’t stay. »
« Why? »
« Because I’m constantly running away! » his hands flew away from his face. « I can’t stay anywhere long enough because I’m just wrong in comparison to everyone else. I’m different and I have to escape before anyone could pick up on that. »
Roman still stared at him; they had gone through that already once, why was it so difficult for him to stay just because he was a vampire? Why couldn’t he come with him?
« This life sucks and I couldn’t ask you to endure it. You wouldn’t be able to. »
« Who says that? »
« I do! I’ve been doing this for years and even I can’t handle it. » his hand was clutched to his chest in a fist. He didn’t want to, « I kill everything around me. » but the tears had already started running even without his permission.
Roman stepped forward as his expression shifted slowly to sympathy. No. The man’s mind raced. No, no, no.
He took a step back. « I come here and I discover I have golden blood, » Roman stopped a few feet away. « I get to know I belong to the royal chaste of vampires, as if a regular one wasn’t bad as it is. » his breathing turned heavier. « And because of that, everything inside my body is poisonous. Others can track me down easily and we aren’t exactly the friendliest species. You’d be in danger. »
If the prince had come forward again, he hadn’t noticed.
« I am constantly running away and a constant risk to the ones around me. » Roman was raising his hand and he gently shoved it away, fearing the worst.
« This isn’t a fairytale, Roman. It’s a horror story and it ends badly either for the protagonist or the monster. Are you even listening? »
« Are you? » Roman’s hand hovered over his arm, waiting to move further. « You’re asking me not to follow you when I’m already attached to you by a chain? » he ducked his head to make the other look at him directly in his dark eyes.
« You want me to stay still when I’m inches away from being able to console you with a sole touch? » the prince could see the veiled freight in the man’s eyes as he raised his hand again, a moment away from his cheek wet by tears.
One.
An instant.
His fingers were already caressing his cheek as new tears soaked it while the poison stuck to his skin.
And it was over.
« You’re telling me- »
« Roman, what did you do? »
« You’re telling me, » both of Roman’s hands were on his cheeks, thumbs brushing away his crying. « That I wouldn’t be able to kiss you, when there isn’t a single thing in the world I want to do more? »
The man’s heart almost completely stopped in his chest, melting as Roman’s lips moved to form ulterior sweet words he didn’t feel he deserved. He had his back pressed on the gates the same way an overwhelming feeling weighed down his stomach.
He was dying. Roman was dying and there was only one thing to do.
Killing him even faster, but only just.
His lips were the weapon, his teeth were the bullets and the poison was the god of Death. As he kissed the prince, pulling him close, the thought of that blatant murder allowed contrasting feelings.
He saved him by signing his death certificate, he could have stopped and yet he didn’t.
What was desire? An abstract concept inherent in human race. As you satisfy a wish, a new one makes way into your mind.
There was no actual satisfaction, but a constant yearning for more than what you already own.
They knew, because their lips weren’t able to break apart if not for a few seconds, before diving in again into something they knew they couldn’t fill.
Yet, nature envied them. The flowers desired to stand tall, plants wanted to show their vivid colours, the rivers wished they could shine limpidly even under the moonbeam.
But they had to wait, left unfulfilled and in permanent disquiet until they got what they wanted.
The lovers, though. They were unstoppable and invincible for as long as their hands touched and their hearts were connected.
Finally, Roman smiled. His arms lowered on the marquis’ shoulders and he chuckled.
« It appears I am bound to you, now. »
« You’re the stupidest person I’ve met. » the man gripped at his clothes and pulled him in for another quick kiss. « You’re stupid. I can’t believe you’re such an idiot and a prince at the same time. »
« I’m thinking about retiring. »
« Oh my stars, he’s gone. »
« Think about it! I could send Remus rule in my place, let our parents deal with what they’ve left behind. » Roman heard him snort with laughter. « What? It’s a perfect plan. »
« Yeah, right. » the man searched his eyes. « What about you? »
« We can run away together. You won’t be alone to fight off the ones that want to take you down. »
« This isn’t going to be easy. You’ll turn any moment now and you’ll need time to adjust to your new condition. » Roman nodded at that. « We’ll have to stay out of sight for a while, can you do that? »
« I can. » Roman’s determination made him want to take on the world with his bare hands.
Then, something in Roman’s eyes shifted. « Also, am I going to pass out or are you actually extremely stunning right now? » the prince’s eyebrows narrowed, his vision blurry.
That was the red code.
« Let’s get you in before everybody sees you. »
« I love you. » the marquis almost tripped over himself. That man needed to stop.
« I do too, but please refrain from speaking until later. »
✾✾✾
« Please, take care, okay? Visit as soon as you can. » Patton hugged the two one last time, nostalgia already washing over him. Logan had just given his own goodbyes and was keeping a very unhappy Virgil still.
One week had passed since Roman’s turning, they had decided to leave as he looked stable enough.
« Are you sure you don’t want me to, I don’t know, hex the whole town or something so you can stay longer? » Remus offered as his brother stifled a laugh. That was low-key endearing. Odd, as not much time earlier he had despised him under false accusations.
They shared a hug, too. « We’re going to be fine. » Roman promised and handed him the princely stuff he wasn’t going to need anymore. « And as you would say … » his expression contorted deep in thought. « Fuck ‘em up? »
« What did you say? » Virgil interrupted, while his parents collectively sent death glares at Roman.
« Duck the cup. » the marquis offered, eyeing the brothers with a sharp look. « As a metaphorical good luck wish, I suppose. »
« Like when they crash bottles against ships? »
« Definitely. »
When their last conversation came to an end, the prince and the marquis started walking away.
Roman looked back to them, his pace slowing down. He locked eyes with Virgil.
« Now! »
Virgil broke free of his dad’s grip and sprinted forward to them, laughing like he had just told the funniest joke in existence. Roman scooped him up in his arms and started running while his lover stared at him in utter disbelief.
« Roman, what the hell! » Logan ran after him, causing the laughter to spread between all those present.
« You absolute mad man! »
It took twenty minutes for the real departure to happen. But at least, they were all smiling.
And, maybe, teary-eyed too. But they were not going to mention it until later some months, or even years, where they could all finally meet again and catch up with their incredible lives.
Until then, they would keep smiling.
✾✾✾
They had been traveling the whole day, the sun shone from behind the mountains in the distance, almost completely hidden, so that the light coloured in rosy tones.
It did feel like a fairy tale, in the long run.
Roman was already smiling to himself when a small giggle escaped his lips.
« What’s so funny? » his lover turned enough to both look at him and be aware of their path.
« You never told me your name. » the prince was looking ahead, quite amused.
« Were I to tell you, you’d never be able to fly among the constellations like you’ve always dreamt. » he remembered one of the many stories he had told him while still a bat.
« I believe I can risk that. »
« I wouldn’t want to bear the guilt of taking that away from you. » they stopped in their tracks and faced each other. « But there might be a way I can help with. »
With no warning, the marquis leaned in and pecked Roman’s lips, softly, so that he could have sensed that small spark in his chest before it transformed into a thunderous firework.
« Is that how you reach the stars? »
The man only smirked at Roman, going back to lead the way through the yellow field. Their road towards a new life was starting to clear.
And their kingdom shone for evermore.

Sentimental
In which you and Chan were once highschool lovers.
✗   pairing(s): woojin x reader ; chan x reader ✗   word count: 1.8k
It’d been a year since he’d last seen you. The both of you had dated for three years, before breaking it off. Chan liked to think that it was a pretty good break-up. It was mutual, and you guys had stayed friends. You were still friends with his friends, and he with yours. You were still his biggest supporter whenever he performed at school festivals, and from the stage, he would still always try to find you.
It was a habit, he told himself, that he always tried to find you in the crowd.
Despite all this, you guys drifted apart during the last few months of highschool. You’d taken graduation photos together, but only because your parents were friends. The last time he ever saw you was at the post-graduation party a few days after.
So, it was a given that when Woojin - his classmate and best friend in University - introduced his girlfriend to Chan, his stomach flipped at the familiar face.
“Chan! It’s so good to see you again!”
He couldn’t tell if you felt as awkward as he did, but he raised his arms all the same when you crashed into him for a hug.
“Y/N? You’re dating- You guys-” He pushed his confusion and shock aside, letting out a laugh. “It’s great to see you too!”
His heart felt elated and his head light. Your familiar face, your dazzling smile - you still used the same perfume. So much about you was the same. He swore you hadn’t grown any taller either. It was amazing to see you again, yet you were different. You seemed… older. Something about the air around you…
“You guys know each other? That’s great!” Woojin smiled brightly as he looped an arm around your shoulder. “That makes things easier. I invited y/n to watch our gig tonight, and I was going to introduce you guys then, but this is better, don’t you think?”
And that’s how, half an hour later, the three of you were all seated around a table at a cafe and laughing, you and Woojin leaning into each other.
“So, how did you guys meet?”
Oh, God. Chan’s laughter turned to one of nervousness, and he made eye-contact with you across the table. You’re smile seemed to falter, and Chan felt a flash of panic. Would it be weird to tell Woojin? He didn’t want to put you in an awkward position. He gulped, looking at you. You nodded, as if a sign for him to go on.
“Y/n was my… We..”
We were what? We used to date? We thought we were once in love? She was my girlfriend?
He hadn’t thought about your shared relationship for a while. He had been convinced, afterall, that he wasn’t in love with you anymore. Until now. Until he saw your face again, and heard your laugh, and saw your smile and the sparkle in your eyes. Until his heart felt a little tight whenever Woojin would loop an arm around your waist, or kiss you on the temple, or even worse - whenever you initiated something with Woojin.
He had thought that he had fallen out of love with you.
“Channie’s my ex.”
“Oh.” Woojin’s eyes darted between the two of you. “Oh.”
Hearing you laugh, Chan laughed along.
“It’s fine, it was mutual. Chan and I dated in highschool. We’re both fine now; over it.”
Chan nods, fiddling with the hem of his shirt under the table. Yeah, you’re both over it.
“Well, Chan, don’t try to steal y/n back, got it?” Woojin warned Chan, his voice serious and his facial expressions set like stone. “I’m warning you.”
“Woojin, I respect your relationship-”
“I”m joking, I’m joking! I know you wouldn’t- Hey, that hurts!”
Chan smiled tensely as Woojin rubbed at where you had hit him. “Are you sure you’re not taking any acting classes?”
You and Chan both let out a laugh as Woojin winks and stands up.
“I’ll shout. This isn’t much, so don’t worry about paying back!”
As Woojin walked away, Chan looked at you, and all the sounds around him turned into a muffled buzz. Your lips quirked up on one side.
“You’re staring.”
“Am not.”
“Are too.”
Chan grinned, and it was like his heart was melting when you grinned back, shared memories resurfacing.
“It’s been so long. I missed you, y/n-”
“I step away and you’re swooping in already, Chan?”
Chan made sounds of protest as Woojin’s arm was slung around his shoulders, and then all three of you were laughing.
“Anyways, Chan and I are going to go practice. I’d invite you, y/n, but that would defeat the point of you attending tonight’s performance.”
Woojin hugged you, and Chan watched with a strange ache in his chest as Woojin gave you a quick kiss before making his way out of the cafe.
“I’ll see you tonight then, right?”
“Of course you will.”
It’s a rush of hugs and farewells as Chan ran to make his way after Woojin, who was waiting outside
-             -
It was early in the evening, the streets dark but the bar lit by hanging lights. Chan followed Woojin onto the stage, and his eyes scanned the crowd almost instantaneously for your face. He found you, situated at the far back and up on a high stool. Your smiling eyes were trained on Woojin.
Of course they were. He was your boyfriend.
“Good evening, everyone! I’m Kim Woojin, and this is my best friend Bang Chan. Like most of the other performers, we’re just some broke uni kids looking for some money.”
This earned some laughter from the crowd. Some whooped and cheered in agreement - the cafe was only a street away from the university that he and Woojin, and recognised many of the audience members to be classmates and acquaintances.
“Woojin, don’t make us out to be that hopeless!” Chan protested. “I have a few dollars on me right now! But please don’t mug me - it’s not worth it, I promise.”
Another round of laughter was earned from the crowd.
“Tonight, we’ll be performing some covers. I’m sure you’ll all be familiar with at least half of the songs, but we’ll be sure to make the performance enjoyable either way. Thank you!”
Chan had set himself up behind a keyboard, and Woojin next to him on an acoustic guitar. For the first performance, the two of them had arranged their own acoustic version of Blackpink’s Whistle.
Chan stole a glance at you every time he had the chance. He could make out subtle changes in your expression. For Whistle, you seemed to be enjoying the performance, and you nodded along to the beat during Like We Used To by The Rose. Your eyes were wide, and you seemed somewhat absorbed in the music when they performed Exo’s Universe. The only time he couldn’t look at you was when they were performing Day6’s I Smile. It didn’t seem right to look at you as if he was singing for you.
The night seemed to pass by quickly, each song followed by applause and words of praise. After the fifth and final cover - Woojin had gotten the whole crowd singing along with them as they performed BTS’s Spring Day - they made their way to you, the performance finally over.
“You guys were amazing! It was like - It was amazing!”
Chan’s heart expanded when he noticed you were looking at him with such adoration in your eyes - and then just as quick as it had expanded, it seemed to cave in on itself when you hugged Woojin and kissed him.
There were few occasions where Chan had looked away as quick as he did in that moment.
“Are you guys going to be performing again?”
“That’s… That’s a good idea. You know what, I should go find the bar owner and see if he’ll let us secure another gig…” Woojin trailed off, as if lost in thought. His eyes travelled around the bar, and he seemed to snap back to attention when he looked outside. “Y/n, it’s late! You should probably- Oh, I see the manager!”
“Go, ‘Jinnie, I’m catching a taxi anyways.” Chan has to look away again as you cup Woojin’s face and kiss him on the cheek.
“Call me when you get home, okay? Chan, can you walk her out?”
Chan nods briskly, just as Woojin dashes off to talk to the manager.
“Well then, let us go, y/n…” He avoids looking at you as he gestures towards the doors.
You guys made your way out of the cafe without exchanging another word until you broke the silence.
“You seemed to enjoy yourself up there. On stage.”
“You- You noticed?”
You noticed me?
Chan was still avoiding your eyes, thankful for the taxi nearing them to keep his attention. He raised an arm, gesturing for the taxi.
“Of course I did! I haven’t heard you sing in so long, and you had so much emotion in your voice…”
Chan let out a nervous laugh. You probably had no idea how raw some of those emotions were. The taxi stopped in front of you guys, and Chan opened the door for you.
“Would you be okay with me coming to another gig?”
The question took him off guard, and he looked at you with head cocked slightly. The bright tone was no longer in your voice, and you seemed serious… almost cautious. But why would you need to be cautious about coming to see another performance? Woojin was your boyfriend. You had every right.
Unless… Unless Chan wasn’t as good as hiding his emotions as he thought.
“I… I mean, Woojin would want you to come.” Chan gulped. “I’m sure he’ll tell you when and where our next gig is.”
“Okay… Well, I’ll see you then, right?”
“I’d hope so.”
He looked at you, trying to read your expression. It was quiet for a few long seconds, and Chan had the urge to reach out and hug you, to hold you, to kiss you.
Instead, he cleared his throat and let his lips raise at the corners.
“Well, I should probably go back to Woojin, or he’ll think I really am trying to steal you away from him,” Chan ushered you into the taxi, only so that you wouldn’t see the expression on his face.. He was smiling, sure, but it wasn’t like you wouldn’t see the contradicting feelings on your face.
“You mean you aren’t trying to steal me back?” You joked, and then you were both laughing, and it was like old times again, only you weren’t his anymore.
He knew he shouldn’t be falling back in love with you, but he was.
He had.
