READ PART ONE [HERE]
The Quinjet had barely touched the tarmac before you and Bucky were barreling down its ramp and making your way into the compound, hands entwined as you marched towards the living quarters.
“For the love of God, turn off your comms before you get to your room!” Sam called after you, prompting you to rip out your earpieces and leave them on a side table as you passed through the lounge.
You couldn’t unlock your door quick enough, and you squealed excitedly when Bucky playfully slapped your ass and shoved you through it once you’d finally got it open.
His mouth was on yours in seconds, hands on your waist as he guided you backwards. You dropped onto the edge of the bed when you felt the mattress pressing against the back of your knees, looking up at the super soldier through lust-filled eyes as you began to undo his belt. He caressed your cheek with his flesh hand, his thumb brushing against your swollen lips as he watched you, groaning when you opened your mouth and began to suck on it - a taster of what was to come. His vibranium hand came up to clasp your hair, making you gasp in delight as he gently pulled on it to make you look up at him.
“You have no idea how long I’ve wanted this,” he admitted, his confession sending a bolt of electricity straight to your core.
“I wish you’d told me sooner,” you purred as you finished unbuttoning his pants and began to remove them along with his underwear, licking your lips as your eyes settled on his throbbing erection.
“And why’s that, doll?” He asked, indulging his curiosity.
“So that I could have done this a long time ago,” you said, wrapping your hand around his cock and taking his full length into your mouth.
Bucky inhaled sharply and tightened his grip on your hair, eliciting a moan from you that vibrated around his cock and caused him to buck his hips towards you. Your eyes watered as he hit the back of your throat, but you held steady and continued to work him into a frenzy, licking and sucking and drawing the most delicious sounds from him.
He reluctantly pulled you away after a few minutes, and you whined at the loss of contact.
“Lay back,” he ordered, taking off his shirt and watching you like a predator stalking its prey as you followed his instructions. He dropped to his knees once you were in position, and you sucked in a breath as he began a trail of kisses that started from the inside of your ankle and led up to your inner thigh.
Lifting the skirt of your dress, he took a moment to admire your underwear before hooking his fingers in the waistband and sliding them down, tossing them aside and continuing his path of kisses.
You whimpered as he reached your slick folds, and you felt him smile wickedly against them before sucking your clit into his mouth. Your hands flew to his hair, nails raking along his scalp as you rolled your hips to meet him, soft moans passing your lips that spurred him on.
Gripping your hip and holding you in place with his vibranium hand, Bucky added his flesh hand to the assault on your pussy, sliding a finger inside while his thumb circled your clit alongside his tongue.
“Fuck,” you gasped as his finger curled up and rubbed against your sweet spot, speeding up your impending orgasm.
“That’s it, doll,” Bucky groaned, his breath ghosting over your pussy and adding to the sweet sensations. “Come for me.”
It was all the encouragement you needed and within seconds your pussy was squeezing around his fingers, back arching as your moans filled the room.
“Good girl,” Bucky praised once you were finished, removing himself from between your legs and licking your juices from his fingers as he climbed onto the bed. “Sweet as a peach.”
The lewd act made you bite your lip, and at Bucky’s command you moved up the bed to lay back against the pillows, spreading your legs and allowing him to position himself between them. He kissed you deeply, needily, and you eagerly parted your lips for him when he teased them with that skillful tongue of his, drawing more moans from you as he trailed more sloppy kisses along your jawline and neck. Your hands returned to his hair as you thrust your hips up to meet his cock, aching to have him inside you.
“Please, Buck. I need you,” you whimpered, looking up at him with pleading eyes. A look of uncertainty crossed his face as he hesitated a moment, and you didn’t need the ability to read minds to know what he was thinking.
Reaching over to your nightstand, you opened the drawer and pulled out a condom, smiling reassuringly up at him as you ripped it open and reached down to roll it over his cock. He groaned at your touch, and when you were done he pressed his forehead against yours.
“If you change your mind about this, let me know and I’ll stop,” he whispered, and you cupped his face to make him look at you.
“Not gonna happen,” you replied.
It was all the reassurance he needed, and with a searing kiss he lined himself up at your entrance and slid into you. You gasped as he slowly pushed himself all the way in, filling you completely, and he paused only a moment for you to get accustomed to the feeling before pulling away and repeating the motion.
Your soft moans turned to heavy pants as Bucky began to move faster, wrapping your legs around him and pulling him closer with each thrust while his mouth set your skin ablaze with every kiss to your neck, face and chest.
You squeaked in surprise when he grabbed your hips and pulled you closer, hooking your legs over his shoulders so that he could go deeper, and waves of ecstasy rolled over you as he brought you to the brink over and over again, the room filling with your exclamations of pleasure and encouragement for him to keep going.
You lost count of how many times you came while Bucky fucked you, your pussy squeezing his cock and drawing the most explicit sounds from him. It didn’t take long for him to reach his own release, and his cries of pleasure joined yours as you both climaxed for the last time.
You whined at the loss of contact when he pulled out to dispose of the condom, but he was back by your side in a matter of seconds, pulling you into his tight embrace and whispering sweet nothings in your ear as he planted soft kisses along your neck and shoulder.
“I can’t believe we haven’t done that sooner,” he murmured, his breath against your ear giving you goosebumps. “You’re fucking amazing.”
Your cheeks reddened and you laid your head on his chest to hide the fact.
“Says you,” you scoffed, and now it was his turn to blush. “At least now we know, we can make up for lost time,” you mused, and he hummed in agreement, the rumbling of his chest vibrating against your ear.
“Well, the sooner we get started, the better,” he stated, and you lifted your head to look at him with a raised eyebrow.
“Really!? Already!?”
“Perks of being a super soldier, doll,” he smirked, and you giggled as he nudged himself into you to show his returning hard on.
“FRIDAY - add condoms to the shopping list,” you announced to the AI as you reached over and pulled another from the nightstand. You had a full box in there, but something told you they wouldn’t last long.

Hungry Eyes
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x reader
Summary: The team overhears Nat and Y/N's 'girl talk' through the comms and feelings surface as a result.
Warnings: Suggestive content. Sex references.
Words: 956
A/N: I don't know what this is or where it came from, but if this goes down well I may write up something a little spicy for a part 2 *eyebrow wiggle* PART 2 CAN BE FOUND HERE
--
Tumblr media
“Bucky's done nothing but undress you with his eyes since you walked in,” Natasha's husky voice came over your earpiece and your eyes snapped to the super soldier on the other side of the room, your cheeks reddening to find him already staring in your direction.
You let your gaze casually pass over him, playing the brief moment of eye contact off as a coincidence as you scanned the room for the mission, but your heart was pounding and you were sure he could probably hear it.
“Doubtful,” you scoffed, though you couldn't ignore the tingle that travelled up your spine at the thought of Bucky finding you attractive. You'd had the hots for him for months, but your fear of rejection strongly outweighed your desire to tell him so you'd kept your little secret to yourself…and Nat of course.
“Stop living in denial, anybody with half a brain can see how he practically drools over you every time he sees you,” Nat argued, and you rolled your eyes as you continued to survey the room. “Don’t roll your eyes at me, it’s true.”
“Stop watching me, you know it creeps me out when I can’t see you,” you hissed, eyes roaming the crowd in an attempt to spot the redhead.
“If you could see me, I wouldn’t be very good at my job,” she teased, and you resisted the urge to roll your eyes again.
“Just hurry up and do your job, Romanoff - the quicker we finish and I can get out of this dress the better,” you stated, readjusting the silky garment that Natasha herself had picked out for you. It suited your cover well, but it was a little provocative for your usual tastes.
“I’m sure Barnes would agree with you on that one…”
“As much as I’m enjoying watching Bucky squirm from this conversation, head’s up that this is an open channel,” Sam’s voice cutting in over the comms caused any reply you had prepared for Natasha to die on your tongue, the blood draining from your face as you turned to look at Bucky.
The super soldier was no longer on his mark, but as you searched the crowd you caught a glimpse of him as he was making a swift exit. More than anything you wanted to follow him, to defuse the awkwardness and recover from the embarrassment of him overhearing Nat’s comments, but you stayed rooted to the spot, unable to leave your position.
“Go,” Nat urged, as though sensing your inner turmoil. “Me and Sam have got this.”
A quick look towards Sam confirmed that he agreed, and you wasted no time in hurrying towards the same door Bucky had gone through moments ago.
Surprisingly, he hadn’t gone very far, and you found him leaning against the wall in the foyer. Heat rushed to your cheeks as his eyes landed on you, and you smiled sheepishly as you approached.
“Hey Buck,” you softly said as you reached him. “Sorry about what you heard back there - Nat was just teasing, she didn’t mean any of it.”
“Didn’t she?” He asked, raising a single eyebrow.
“What?” You frowned, unsure how to interpret his response. There was a way you wanted this to go, but you didn’t want to get your wires crossed and make even more of a fool of yourself.
“You said she didn’t mean any of it, but how can you be sure?”
He pushed himself off the wall and fixed you with an intense gaze, making your knees weak and your breath short. You didn’t dare look away - afraid that if you did, this moment would end.
“I-uh…I don’t know what you’re getting at here, Buck…” you stammered, too dumbfounded to form a better response. You were very aware of how close the two of you were and the smell of his cologne and warmth emanating from his body was making your brain short circuit.
“Then let me show you.”
There was no hesitation as he took your face in his hands and pressed his lips to yours, and you melted into him with a whimper. The sound gave him the encouragement he was looking for and he spun you round so that he could press you up against the wall, moaning into your mouth as you raked your hands through his hair.
Everything around you ceased to exist and all sense left you as you gave into your desires, the feeling of Bucky’s hands roaming your body setting your skin on fire. You couldn’t believe this was happening, you’d never even let yourself hope that Bucky might actually feel the same, yet here you were, making out with him while his sizable bulge pressed up against you.
Had Sam not cleared his throat over the comms, you were sure you’d have let the super soldier take you right there and then, regardless of the fact that you were in public and on a mission.
“Channel is still very much open, guys,” he informed, and Bucky’s eyes widened in horror as he pulled away. You giggled and gave him a quick peck on the lips.
“I’m not even sorry,” you told Sam teasingly, straightening up and readjusting your dress. You were aware of Bucky’s eyes on you and you looked up to meet his hungry gaze.
“I can’t wait to get that thing off you when we’re finished here,” he blurted, and you bit your lip as heat flooded your core.
“Then we’d better hurry up and finish,” you replied, taking him by the hand and leading him back to the main room so that you could get the mission, and later on your clothes, out of the way.

Worth the Wait
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x reader
Words: 2,204
Summary:  Bucky has been avoiding you since the two of you nearly kissed a few weeks ago. When you both attend a Stark-hosted BBQ, he has no choice but to explain himself and make amends.
Warnings: None, I don’t think? Maybe some reader insecurities and self-doubt, but otherwise we’re all good.
A/N: This one got away from me a little bit but I just love the idea of the Avengers family having a get together and enjoying themselves. In my head this is set post Endgame (with major canon changes, obviously!), but I guess it could take place whenever you want depending on which Bucky is your favourite (though, let’s be honest, that’s all of them!).
--
Tumblr media
"Damn girl, look at you!" Sam marvelled as you opened the door to greet him. "What a masterpiece!"
You'd opted for a more casual look for the BBQ the Starks were hosting, nothing special, but Sam was never short of a compliment and they were always appreciated.
You smiled sheepishly and bowed your head in modest thanks, locking the door and following him down the path to his truck.
"You should take a look at yourself," you countered with a playful wink, getting into the passenger seat and buckling up.
– – – – – –
You arrived at the Stark cabin a short while later, stopping on the way to pick up Peter. As much as you loved the kid, you were grateful that the journey, and his relentless chatter, had come to an end.
You spotted Clint and Scott’s cars as you stepped out of Sam’s truck and were pleased that some of your friends were already here. However, as your eyes fell upon Steve’s Audi and the bike sitting beside it your excitement was quickly replaced with anxiety; in your hurry to get ready on time you’d forgotten that Bucky would also be coming.
Sam noticed the falter in your steps and followed your gaze, smiling knowingly once he'd done the maths.
“Relax, cher, you’re among friends, what’s the worst that can happen?” he mused, playfully nudging your arm as the two of you followed Peter and the sound of chitchat around the side of the house.
Your eyes instinctively sought out the super soldier as you rounded the corner, your heart dropping into your stomach as you spotted him on the deck, beer in hand as he chatted to Steve and Clint.
“Ooh, new arrivals!” Tony’s voice tore you from your momentary stupor as your host stepped outside, drawing everyone's attention. You ignored the warmth in your cheeks as you felt Bucky’s everyone’s eyes on you and instead threw yourself at a surprised Tony.
“I'm glad to see you too, Y/N,” he chuckled, giving you a squeeze. “I'm guessing by how violently you're gripping me there have been no developments on the situation?" He murmured subtly, and you shook your head.
"There isn't even a situation to speak of," you replied in a hushed tone, hoping the super soldier's advanced hearing couldn't pick up your conversation. "We almost kissed, he's been ghosting me since. That's all there is to it."
Tony gave you a sympathetic smile as he pulled away and put his hands on your shoulders, holding you at arm's length.
"Give him time honey," he reassured, and you shrugged in response.
Just then, Morgan came bounding outside, stopping momentarily to look around before her eyes fell on you, squealing excitedly as she hurried down the steps and bolted over, wrapping her small arms around your waist.
"Hey Morgie!" You cooed, scooping her up and resting her on your hip. "How's my favourite Stark?"
"I resent that!" Tony griped, and you swatted him away with a laugh before turning your attention to his daughter.
You listened intently, hanging onto every word as she excitedly filled you in on everything you’d missed since your last visit - what she’d been up to at school, gossip she’d picked up from the playground, her science project she was working on with her Dad (which earned Tony a raised eyebrow since you knew how his 'projects' often ended up). You loved watching her talk - the spark in her eyes as she gestured animatedly reminded you so much of her Dad. You’d never admit it to him for fear of stroking his already bulging ego, but it was actually pretty cute how alike they were.
Once she was done with her stories Morgan went running off after Nate, who’d made his way over to you both during your conversation and ‘tagged’ her in the game he was playing with the other Barton children. You laughed as you watched the older kids skitter across the grass trying to get away from the tiny 5 year old, and turned your attention to the adults occupying the deck.
"You got this sweetheart," Tony comforted from beside you, sensing your unease. "You've dealt with murderous space aliens, I'm sure you can handle a brooding super soldier."
You laughed humorlessly. "I'm not so sure about that - at least the aliens let me know where I stand."
Tony chuckled with a shake of his head, placing a reassuring hand on your shoulder.
"Get on over there and show him what he's missing," he ordered, giving you a gentle nudge. "He'll soon regret leaving you on 'read'."
"Look at you using the kids' lingo," you remarked with a grin. "Apparently you can teach an old dog new tricks!"
"Less of the old or I'll find a way to embarrass you," Tony warned as he waggled his finger at you, but you only laughed in response.
"Quit stalling and get over there, I gotta go help Pepper in the kitchen but make yourself at home!"
And with that he was gone, leaving you standing alone. The palms of your hands turned clammy, your stomach churned, and your heart began racing a thousand miles a minute as you approached the deck.
It was ridiculous really, you were acting like a teenager with a crush. This was Bucky, for crying out loud. The same Bucky who'd accompanied you on countless missions, who'd fought alongside you during the battle with Thanos, who'd seen you at your absolute worst. The same Bucky you'd swapped stories with, shared your hopes and dreams with, and confessed your deepest worries and darkest fears to in the middle of the night when neither of you could sleep.
The same Bucky who, since the two of you had almost kissed a month ago, had been avoiding you like the plague.
You’d been hanging out in the lounge, laughing and poking fun at his dreadful video game skills, then suddenly you were staring at each other's lips, slowly drawing closer. You were sure you were going to kiss, you'd wanted to kiss him, but then he'd pulled away as though he'd been struck by lightning, excused himself and had been avoiding you at every available opportunity since.
You hadn't stopped replaying the scene in your head over the last few weeks, analysing every detail and wondering if perhaps you'd misread the situation and imagined the chemistry. It was easy to dismiss before, but now you were in Bucky's presence again, that feeling of rejection returned.
"There she is!" Clint cheered as you reached them, shifting along the bench and making room for you to sit beside him. "I was beginning to think you were avoiding me," he pouted and you couldn't help but laugh at the ridiculous look on his face.
"As if you'd let me," you snickered, grateful for the distraction as you grabbed a beer from the cooler nearby. You opened it and took a giant swig, relishing the cold liquid soothing your increasingly dry throat. You greeted Steve and, once you'd had a moment to gather your courage, you finally chanced a look in Bucky's direction.
You regretted it instantly.
His icy blue eyes were already fixed on you, watching you intently as he nursed his own drink. Your heartbeat quickened and you hoped - rather fruitlessly - that he couldn’t hear it.
"Hi James," you mumbled, averting your gaze. Somehow using his nickname didn’t seem appropriate since it was reserved for use by his friends, and right now you weren’t sure what the two of you were. He furrowed his brow at the sound of his formal name coming from your mouth, but quickly schooled his features before anybody noticed.
The party was soon in full swing, as more guests arrived and Tony fired up the BBQ. The food was delicious, the drinks were flowing, and you were enjoying spending time with your friends outside of missions and a strict regime. You were like one big family, and you smiled in contentment as you glanced around at everyone laughing and enjoying themselves.
Everyone except Bucky, of course, who hadn't cracked a smile once since you'd been here (not that you were keeping track or anything).
°°°
"What's going on in that cyborg brain of yours?" Sam asked as he joined Bucky on the deck and handed him another beer.
Bucky didn't answer, but it wasn't hard for Sam to guess his thoughts when he followed his friend's line of sight and saw you.
"She really cares about you, you know," he remarked.
"She really shouldn't," Bucky scoffed, taking a swig of his beer.
"And why's that?"
Bucky threw him an incredulous look.
"Look at me, Sam. I'm a mess! Who in their right mind would want someone like me?"
"Y/N, apparently,"
"I'm serious. What if I fuck this up and she ends up hating me? What if she finally sees me for the monster I really am!?"
"You really believe she's gonna think that? She knows you, man, and she knows your past. Unless you do something really bad like cheat, she won't be going anywhere,"
Bucky tensed his jaw as he considered Sam's words and fought the internal battle he'd been waging since he and Y/N had nearly kissed.
He'd wanted to kiss her so badly, but something inside of him snapped and he couldn't bring himself to do it. There was so much at risk, their friendship, her feelings - hurting people was a speciality of his and he knew that if he let her in it would only be a matter of time before he hurt her, too.
"How long are you gonna keep punishing yourself for your past, dude?" Sam asked, and he put a reassuring hand on Bucky's shoulder. "If anyone deserves happiness, it's you. Don't let it pass you by just because you believe that's what you deserve."
He gave Bucky's shoulder a squeeze before getting up and rejoining the others.
Bucky sat in quiet contemplation, thinking carefully about what Sam had said. He was loath to admit it, but the guy had a point, and in the end it helped Bucky make his decision. Downing the last of his beer for courage, he got to his feet and marched towards you before he had the chance to chicken out.
°°°
You'd been talking to Wanda when her attention shifted onto something, or rather someone, behind you, and she smiled knowingly before walking away. You hadn't expected to see Bucky when you turned around.
"I know I've been an idiot," he blurted, before you could even speak. "And I'm sorry for ignoring you all this time - it's no excuse, but I got in my own head and assumed it was better for you if I stayed away."
"Isn't it my choice to determine what's best for me?" You quipped as you folded your arms across your chest.
"Of course it is, and I'm sorry I made that decision for you…it's just…I like you, a lot, but it's been so long since I've felt this way and I got scared that I'd mess everything up."
Of all the outcomes you'd conjured up as to why he'd stayed away, you'd never once considered that it might have been because he was scared. Your heart broke for Bucky as you realised just how difficult opening up to someone must be after everything he'd been through - there was no way you could stay mad at him after that confession. Besides, even if you'd wanted to, his puppy dog eyes made it impossible.
"You went about this the completely wrong way," you reprimanded, raising a disapproving eyebrow. You'd already forgiven him, but you were going to make him sweat a little before you told him that.
"I know, doll, and I can't apologise enough."
"But I hope you've learned from this," you continued, uncrossing your arms to close the space between you and hold his hands. Hope ignited in his eyes as your expression softened and you couldn't resist a coy smile.
"Oh, I definitely have," he breathed, not daring to look away or let go of your hands in fear he'd lose you forever.
"Because it just so happens that I like you a lot, too," you finished, biting your lip as your nerves got the better of you.
At the sound of your confession, Bucky Barnes - former Winter Soldier and well-renowned hard ass - blushed.
"You'll finish me off saying things like that, doll," he mused.
There was no longer any doubt that he could hear your heartbeat - it was pounding so fast at this point that you were sure it was going to burst out of your chest.
"Do you think maybe we could try this again?" He tentatively asked, removing his hands from yours so that he could cup your face.
"As long as you don't run away this time," you teased, grabbing the lapels of his leather jacket and pulling him ever closer.
"I wouldn't dream of it, sugar," he murmured, closing the remaining distance between you and pressing his lips to yours.
It was a month late, but it was well worth the wait.

Compromised
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x reader
Words: 1,438
Summary:  An undercover mission goes awry, but Bucky had good reason to blow his cover.
Warnings: Mentions of intended sexual assault, brief mention of using alcohol as a coping mechanism, blood.

Tumblr media
Your mind was a battlefield as you wrestled with your thoughts, contemplating your options and trying not to give into the panic that was creeping in.
You'd been working undercover alongside Bucky for weeks, tracking an asset that could provide valuable intel on a new terrorist organisation that had recently cropped up. When your target had sent some of his cronies to request a meeting with the super soldier, you'd been less than enthused.
"Don't worry, doll. I'll only be gone for an hour, tops."
Bucky's reassuring words rang in your ears as you paced the motel room, the ticking of the giant clock on the wall taunting you with every second that passed. He'd promised an hour, yet it had been almost three.
Your worry gnawed at your insides. You couldn't risk compromising the mission, but you couldn't sit around waiting for the worst either. Digging out the burner phone you'd packed for an emergency, you dialled the only number you'd saved on the contact list.
"Steve, I've lost Bucky," you blurted before he even had the chance to speak.
There was a long pause before he replied.
"Okay...how long has he been gone?"
"Almost three hours…"
"You didn't think to call sooner!?"
You pinched the bridge of your nose as you felt a headache coming on.
"I didn't know what to do! He was only supposed to meet the asset and touch base, it wasn't supposed to take this long!"
"It's okay, Y/N, we'll find him," Steve reassured as he picked up on the increasing panic in your tone.
"Is his tracker still on?" You asked after a moment's pause, listening intently to Steve asking FRIDAY to pull up Bucky's location history.
"Hmm, it says here that he's been sitting in the bar across the street for the last hour…" he mused, sounding just as baffled as you felt.
"You're seriously telling me I've been going crazy with worry and he's been sitting in a bar this whole time!? I'm actually going to kill him," you grumbled, grabbing your jacket from off your bed and slipping on your shoes.
"Try not to be too hard on him, Y/N…Bucky doesn't do things without reason," Steve offered, and you took a deep breath to steady yourself.
"I can't promise anything, but I'll try. Thanks for your help, Steve."
"No problem, just don't leave it so long before you get in touch next time, alright? And be careful."
"I'm always careful, I'll let you know if we run into any trouble," you said your goodbyes and hung up, immediately removing the SIM card from the back of the phone and stomping on the device. There was no such thing as being too cautious when it came to undercover work.
Satisfied with covering your tracks, you left your room and made your way across the street in search of Bucky.
The bar was surprisingly quiet for a Friday night and it didn't take long to locate the super soldier sitting in a booth at the back. He was alone, which was a good sign, but one look at his brooding expression told you that all was not well. As you slid into the booth beside him the smell of whiskey filled your nose - Bucky drinking hard liquor was never a good sign.
"A little early for the heavy stuff, don't you think?" You remarked, to which he simply shrugged and took a long, meaningful sip. He winced as he lowered his arm and you noticed he was favouring his left side.
"You're hurt," you observed, leaning to get a better look and gasping at the dark patch on his shirt that he'd tried, and failed, to hide beneath his leather jacket. "You're hurt and you're bleeding! What the hell!?"
Bucky shooed your hands away as you attempted to get a better look at his wound. "It's fine, I'm fine. It'll heal soon enough."
"At least let me have a look, it might get infected!" You implored, to no avail.
"Y/N, it'll be alright," he insisted, much firmer this time. You met his gaze and studied him for a moment. There was a vulnerability in his eyes that you rarely got to see, causing your worry to multiply tenfold.
"What happened Buck?" You asked softly, placing a hand over his.
"It doesn't matter,"
"Well it does to me…I've been going out of my mind with worry and all the while you've been here, covered in blood and drinking the one drink you turn to when things take a turn for the worse…you can't tell me it doesn't matter when clearly something has happened, so I need you to tell me."
Bucky remained silent as he considered your words. There was no way you'd be letting this go anytime soon, so with a sigh of defeat he began to explain.
"They took me to our target's safehouse and a load of his goons were sitting around a table playing poker…they were speaking russian but I guess they didn't realise I'm fluent because they weren't very careful about what they were saying…"
He grimaced at the memory and you squeezed his hand for reassurance.
"What were they saying, Buck? Was it valuable information?"
He shook his head.
"Then what?"
Bucky took another swig of whiskey and studied his glass for a moment. It was clear from his set jaw and tense shoulders that he was uncomfortable with the subject matter, but you needed to know the truth.
"They were talking about you…"
"Why the hell were they talking about me?"
"I'd really rather not repeat what was said," he admitted, fixing you with a pleading look. You pulled your hand away and straightened up.
"Bucky Barnes, if they were talking about me then I have a right to know what was being said!"
You hated how stern you sounded but you were growing frustrated in your impatience. With another grimace, he finally confessed.
"They started arguing over a girl - going on about who would get 'first go' and who'd make her scream the loudest…" he paused, his jaw setting in a hard line. You were sure you could hear the glass cracking under the vice-like grip of his vibranium hand, and you placed your hand on his flesh arm, giving it a gentle squeeze.
"I just assumed they were making vulgar jokes about their girlfriends at first…but then one of them said your name and I snapped…"
You winced as the glass shattered in his hand, but he didn't even flinch. "They were planning on assaulting you, Y/N, as soon as I left with their boss they were gonna come here and-"
"Shhh," you quickly soothed, reaching up to tuck a strand of hair behind his ear and affectionately stroking his cheek. It was a forward gesture, but you'd been friends for long enough to know it was one that he was comfortable with. He leaned into your touch and sighed.
"I messed up, Y/N, I've compromised the whole mission,"
"It's okay, Buck…"
"I should have just ignored them and sent you a message to get somewhere safe, but I couldn't help myself…"
"Bucky…"
"I should have controlled my temper - it's not the worst I've heard on a mission - but as soon as they said your name, I...I just lost it…"
"James," the sound of his first name finally got his attention and he turned to fully face you.
"I could never live with myself if anything happened to you on my watch, doll," he admitted, taking your hand from his cheek and holding it in both of his. "And I know I've fucked it all up, but I couldn't take that risk."
"It's okay, we'll figure something else out," you reassured with another squeeze of his hand.
Truth be told, messing up the mission wasn't an easy pill to swallow, but when you considered what could have happened, it made the loss a little easier to accept.
"We'd better get out of here before he sends people after us," you stated, shuffling along the seat to exit the booth. You waited for Bucky to follow suit and linked your arm in his as he stood.
"Thankyou for having my back, Buck, I appreciate it," you said, reaching up on your tiptoes and planting a tender kiss on his cheek.
The red flush of his cheeks didn't go unnoticed. He threw his arm over your shoulder and pulled you close, kissing the top of your head as you left the bar.
"I'll always have your back, doll," he promised with a smile. "'til the end of the line."

It's such a lovely feeling knowing someone has enjoyed something I've created 🥰
Favorite thing about being a fic writer is the comments. No seriously unless you’re a fic writer you don’t understand the level of kindness and almost heroin-esque level high writers get from getting thoughtful feedback from loyal readers. It’s fantastic.

The Sleepover
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x reader
Words: 1,740
Summary: Bucky and Y/N have been dating for a while but he is yet to spend the night at her place. After breaking down barriers and allowing himself to drop his guard, Bucky soon decides it’s finally time to take the next step.
Warnings: Mentions of Bucky’s PTSD/recovery
A/N: This was inspired by the scene in TFATWS that shows Bucky waking up on his apartment floor. It’s such a visceral moment that sheds light on just how much trauma he carries with him, and I wanted to bring some lightness to that in the form of Y/N. Long story short, I just wanted our favourite super soldier to receive the comfort he so desperately needs and deserves.

Tumblr media
Your heart skipped a beat as you heard the unmistakable roar of Bucky’s motorcycle pulling up outside, and you launched yourself off the couch to greet him. The two of you had been dating for a little over four months now but tonight was the first time he was staying over and you were practically vibrating with excitement.
You had met a year ago when you’d been paired together on a scouting mission in Bucharest, spending an intensive four weeks trailing a suspected arms dealer. After spending the better half of a month shacked up together in a dingy apartment, it was inevitable you'd open up to one another eventually. After months of skirting around your feelings and your friends encouraging you both to speak up, the two of you had eventually plucked up the courage to confess your feelings and the rest, as the saying goes, was history.
Bucky had been a true gentleman from the very beginning and had confessed early on that he'd wanted to take things slow - it had been a long time since he'd courted a woman and thanks to his coloured past he'd all but given up on the prospect of love, so the concept of a relationship was one he still sometimes struggled to get his head around.
You understood completely and had made every effort not to overwhelm him. You were fully aware of his trauma and the suffering he'd endured and endeavoured to provide him with a calm, safe space that allowed him to let his guard down in a way he was comfortable with.
Over the last few months he'd gotten much better with touch and now it was at a point where he practically craved it. Whether he was holding your hand, laying his head in your lap while you watched TV or wrapping his arms around you from behind while you were cooking dinner, Bucky loved touch and would always find an excuse to be near you or touching you in some way. You were more than happy to indulge his needs and fussed over him at every opportunity, joking that he was like an overgrown puppy when it came to affection.
You could have cried with how sweet he’d been when he’d kissed you for the first time - he was so careful as he’d tenderly pressed his lips to yours, as though expecting to break you, and in that moment it had dawned on you that he probably wasn’t used to being so gentle towards another human being.
It was so fulfilling witnessing this once broken man rebuilding and flourishing in his new life, and you felt truly honoured that he wanted you to be a part of it.
At the sound of a knock at the door your excitement grew to an almost immeasurable amount, and you took a moment to gather yourself before answering.
You’d lost count of the amount of times you’d gone to bed alone after spending an evening with Bucky, aching for him to be beside you, and although you understood and respected his reasons for not staying you couldn’t help the sting of loneliness that crawled in whenever he left at the end of an evening.
The sight of him standing in your doorway with an overnight bag slung over his shoulder was one you’d never dared to believe you’d witness, yet here he was, casually leaning against the doorframe as he waited for you to answer the door.
“Hey Buck,” you grinned, stepping forward to greet him with a kiss which he eagerly welcomed. Wrapping his arms around you, he guided you backwards into your apartment, dropping his bag and kicking the door to a close behind him. You were breathless when he pulled away, staring up at him in awe.
“Wow, that was…just, wow,” you marvelled, completely lost for words.
“I could hear your heartbeat so I thought I’d ease some of your nerves,” he smirked, and your cheeks reddened at his confession.
“Dammit Barnes, I told you not to use your super hearing on me. What if I was in the bathroom!?”
“You think I haven’t heard you pee before?” His laughter - one of your favourite sounds - echoed around the room as you shot him a horrified glare, and he quickly pulled you into his embrace to ease your embarrassment.
“I’m reconsidering this sleepover already,” you grumbled into his chest as you wrapped your arms around his waist, breathing in his leathery scent. He chuckled and kissed the top of your head.
“Come on doll, why don't you show me where I’ll be sleeping.”
You immediately perked up at his words - which you suspected was his plan - and with a grin you grabbed his bag and led him to the bedroom to unpack.
The evening passed like any other - you cooked dinner, played some board games, and ended the night cuddled up on the couch with a movie - but instead of falling asleep in Bucky's arms like you usually did, you felt wide awake.
Bucky switched off the TV as you began to tidy away your empty glasses and snacks, and an awkward silence hovered over the room as you both pondered how to navigate the rest of the evening.
"So, sweetheart…what do you usually do at this point?" Bucky broke the silence as he came to lean against the counter beside you.
"Well, usually, once you've left I go to bed," you replied, realising that the suggestion of going to bed may be misinterpreted and quickly adding, "but we don't have to do that yet if you're not tired."
Bucky's hand came to rest on your arm and you looked up to find him smiling reassuringly.
"It's okay, doll. I'm happy to go to bed," he murmured, trailing his hand down to entwine his fingers with yours and leading you to your room.
You were already in your pyjamas so you slipped straight under the covers while Bucky walked round to the other side of the bed and began undressing down to his boxers. You couldn't resist a sneaky peek while his back was turned, and as soon as you gave in to your temptation you regretted it immediately - Bucky's chiselled body was truly a sight to behold and one you were sad to have to tear your eyes away from.
"Would you like me to strike a pose?" Your boyfriend's playful voice broke your train of thought and you snapped your eyes to his, finding him smirking at you with his hands on his hips.
You'd been caught red handed, and red faced! Your cheeks were blazing and you pulled the covers up to hide your face as Bucky crawled in next to you. The embarrassment quickly dissolved once he was laying next to you, your mind suddenly too preoccupied to care, and you turned to face him with a grin.
"You're here," you said gleefully, melting into his open arms.
"I'm here," he echoed, his smile mirroring yours.
With a tender kiss he pulled you closer, tucking you under his chin in a firm but gentle embrace, and soon you found the tendrils of slumber pulling you into the sleepy abyss.
–
A few hours later you were awoken by a cold breeze at your back, and you reached your hand out in the darkness, heart sinking when an empty bed greeted you.
Had Bucky left? Had he changed his mind about spending the night? Had you imagined the whole thing?
Your thoughts teetered on a downward spiral as you sat up and turned on the bedside lamp, but your insecurity quickly turned to confusion when you looked to your side and found that not only was Bucky missing from your bed, but his pillow was too.
Eyebrows knitting together, you swung your legs over the side of the bed and got up to try and solve the mystery, but you didn't get very far before your foot bumped into something solid.
Bucky.
The super soldier sat bolt upright at your touch, wide eyes staring straight ahead, and for a moment you feared he'd forgotten where he was altogether. He soon came to his senses, however, shaking off any remnants of sleep and looking up at you with a sheepish expression.
"I, uh…sometimes find it hard to sleep," he offered, fidgeting with the blanket he must have grabbed from the couch. "Sorry, I'm still kinda getting used to the idea of a comfortable bed."
He chuckled dryly and your chest tightened at his doleful expression - here was this brave, strong man who had been through hell, and he was apologising!?
That just would not do.
"Oh, Buck," you cooed, sinking to your knees in front of him and holding his face in your hands. "You don't need to apologise for anything."
His eyes met yours and you hoped he could see the love and sincerity in them. The guards he worked so hard to keep up slipped just a tiny bit, and he gave you a tearful smile as he rested his forehead against yours and closed his eyes. Kissing the top of his head, you turned and reached up to grab your pillow off the bed, setting it on the floor beside his before reaching back again for the covers.
"You don't have to do this, doll. You won't be comfortable," he protested once he realised you were intending to join him, but you simply waved a hand to quiet him.
"We're in this together now baby," you softly reassured, adjusting the blanket so it covered the both of you. "I'm right here with you every step of the way."
You kissed him deeply and he wrapped his arms around you, pulling you down with him as he laid back on the hardwood floor. By no means was it comfortable and you knew in the morning your back would be aching, but none of that mattered while you were at Bucky's side.
He'd been fighting his demons for so long, and he'd likely be fighting them for a long time to come, but there was no way you were going to let him continue fighting them alone.
Tucked tightly into Bucky's side, your head on his chest and the sound of his heart beating in your ears, you fell back to sleep with surprising ease, and neither you, nor Bucky, woke again until morning.

Spontaneous Shenanigans
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x reader
Summary: Y/N can always count on Bucky to turn a disappointing evening around.
Warnings: BRIEF mention of Bucky’s PTSD/overstepping boundaries.
Words: 1,107
A/N: The whole ‘failed date’ scenario just popped into my head and I thought some Bucky fluff would be the perfect way to remedy it!
--
Tumblr media
You huffed a sigh as you shut the door behind you and slipped off your shoes, relieved to be back at the tower and out of your uncomfortable heels after yet another failed date. This routine was growing tiresome now, and after tonight you were considering admitting defeat and giving up the dating game altogether. You flicked through your various dating apps as you made your way to your room, coming across Bucky making hot chocolate on your way past the kitchen.
“Hey doll,” he greeted with a smile, frowning when he glanced at the clock on the oven. “I wasn’t expecting you back this early.”
“Yeah, neither was I,” you chuckled dryly, rolling your eyes for dramatic effect as you mounted a stool at the counter. “Needless to say I’m glad to be home.”
“Let me guess…he spent the whole time talking about the Avengers,” Bucky remarked, offering you his freshly made cup of hot chocolate and grabbing a mug to make another for himself. “Who took the spotlight this time?”
You took a sip of the warm beverage, feeling instant comfort, before answering.
"Steve."
Bucky shook his head.
“Damn, as much as I love the guy, the idea of spending my evening answering questions about him kinda ruins the mood…" he began, topping off his drink with some spray cream.
The sight of the Winter Soldier delicately placing marshmallows on his hot chocolate was one that never failed to amuse you, and you smiled fondly as you watched his gentle hands at work.
"I've lost count of how many times my dates have asked me for his number or the address of the gym he works out at," he continued. "It's like they see us as their all-access ticket to get the inside scoop."
You couldn't help but agree - as grateful as you were to be a part of the team, there were times when it felt more like a burden than a blessing. People didn't want to get to know you, only the company you kept. It was exhausting at times, but you were glad to have people like Bucky who understood the hardships and the less glamorous side of being part of a team of superheroes.
"I am sorry about your date though, doll," the super soldier added as he came around the counter to sit beside you. "It sucks when they don't work out the way you'd hoped."
"Thanks Buck," you smiled.
"Did you at least get dessert?" Bucky asked, his jaw dropping as you shook your head. "Really!? A true gentleman always lets his lady order dessert!"
"If we'd have made it to dessert I think I'd have ended up killing the guy," you laughed as you took another sip from your mug.
"That's fair, but it still ain't right," he concurred with a shake of his head. "You wanna go grab some ice cream?"
You nodded enthusiastically and gulped down the last of your hot chocolate, getting remnants of cream on your nose in the process and causing Bucky to laugh heartily.
You threw him a sour look as you wiped your nose clean then, quick as a flash, you dipped your finger in the leftover cream and swiped it on your laughing friend's nose. Bucky immediately froze and turned to you with a dark expression, and for a brief moment you feared you'd overstepped.
Was he okay with unexpected touching? Had you triggered an unpleasant memory by crossing his boundaries?
You met his gaze with uncertainty and prepared an apology on the tip of your tongue, but relaxed when his lips twitched and pulled up into a smirk.
"Oh, you'll regret that," he remarked, eyes blazing with mischief as he reached for the can of cream across the counter.
"You gotta catch me first!" You retaliated, launching yourself from the stool and breaking into a run as Bucky scrambled after you.
Your combined laughs bounced off the walls as he chased you around the ground floor, finally catching up to you in the lounge. Leaping over the couch, he easily dodged every cushion you flung his way in your desperate attempt at escape, grinning wickedly as he cornered you.
You backed up as far as you could go, pressing yourself up against the wall in the hope that you might somehow magically pass through it. As Bucky towered over you with a menacing look in his eye, the can of cream raised and aimed at you, you shot your hands up in surrender.
"Parley!" You squeaked, and Bucky faltered in his steps. He held your gaze for a moment as he considered your plea, then lowered the can with a shake of his head.
"Those damn pirate movies," he mused, stepping back and granting your freedom. "I'm not gonna watch anything else with you if you're just gonna use them against me!"
"Hey now, our movie nights are about more than just the movies you know - it's important education!"
"Alright boss, whatever you say," he said with a chuckle and another shake of his head.
"Hmm, boss. Now I do like the sound of that," you remarked, falling into step beside him as the two of you made your way back to the kitchen.
"Don't get used to it," he warned, giving you a playful nudge that sent you off-balance. You nudged him back, supposing that you’d have more luck moving a brick wall than trying to throw Bucky off-course. He laughed at your pitiful attempt and turned his attention to tidying the kitchen, which didn’t take long with your help.
“So how about that ice cream?” He asked and you eagerly nodded.
“Let me just get changed real quick, I think I’m a little overdressed for ice cream,” you added, referring to your date attire.
Bucky assessed your outfit, his unwavering gaze causing you to feel suddenly self-conscious. You’d taken great care in getting ready for the evening, highlighting your ‘assets’ in your attempts to look your best - it felt strange yet oddly exhilarating having Bucky paying attention to them.
“Sure,” he gruffly agreed, blinking rapidly as he set about locating his phone and wallet. “I’ll meet you in the car.”
A blush crept its way to your cheeks as you watched Bucky fumble around, feeling a self-esteem boost at the sight of the flustered super soldier. Now it was your turn to laugh and shake your head as you made your way up to your room to change, actually feeling relieved that your date hadn’t gone according to plan and looking forward to spending the evening with a good friend and some ice cream.
