Greetings! I have assumed that because you're Welsh you must be able to sing. Am I right, or is this an unfair stereotype of your people? (Love your blog btw)
WELL. Yes. I can. No comment on the stereotypicality, but it's certainly true that group singing is a big cultural thing, particularly among Welsh speakers.
Uh, that said, I have the lowest voice of any cis woman I've ever met or seen. Zero songs are written for my vocal range. I dream of the day I find another so we can bond OR I can finally sing something with my vocal chords and gender in mind. If you're musically inclined at all for this to make sense to you, my comfortable range is B2 - C5, which means I can encompass all of tenor, a chunk of baritone in the low end, and not quite all of alto in the high end. The closest I've ever come to finding a female singer with a similar reach is Madeline in The Amazing Devil, who hits low notes even I struggle with in That Unwanted Animal; but she can go much higher than me (and is certainly more comfortable in a higher range than me), so she's just a vocal prodigy. Every choir teacher I've ever had has confidently told me "Plenty of famous singers are altos, you're not alone!" And I'm like "That would be useful, Beryl, but I'm not an alto and they all sing higher than me."
Thinking about it, though - this is entirely anecdotal and not backed up by any actual statistics - I have consistently found over the years that Welsh voices tend towards the lower end. I'm thinking back to the choir I was in in Aberystwyth, the Elizabethan Madrigal Singers. It was a student choir, so there was a mix of nationalities but mostly Welsh and English. I remember at one point the conductor stopped us on one song and made us sing one of the phrases, section by section from the basses up. The point he was making was about our pronunciation of the word 'castle'.
"Listen to that!" he laughed. "You all need to pronounce that 'a' the same way, and this is a formal piece, it needs to be long. It's "Cahstle", not "cassle". Look how only the sopranos are doing it right!"
And one of the basses looked along the line and went "Rob... that's because they're English."
And we realised that every bass and all but one alto was Welsh; two thirds of the tenors and every single soprano was English. The higher the voices went, the fewer Welsh people were present.
(Shout out to Rob, very quickly - he was an English tenor, but on reaching Aberystwyth University he'd learned a smattering of Welsh as best he could and joined the Welsh language choir as well as the Mads to practice it. He was affectionately known as 'Rob Sais' in honour of this respect. Really nice guy. I believe he's an engineer now.)
But yeah, that's a trend I have noticed over the years in other places, too. No idea how universal that is vs just my own observations in my own bubble, but there we are

911 ep 701 first watch reactions
(I don't think I have the energy to write proper Buddie meta, so here's me randomly squealing instead...)
LMAO In case you were wondering whether s7 of 911 will be subtle about their gratitude/debt to ABC for saving the show, the answer is a resounding no.
Also, I have lost a lot of respect for Frank as a shrink, but gained a lot of love for him as a sass king. "Did she win!?" The murderous look Athena gave him was priceless. I love her, too. She doesn't even need words to rule.
Man, nooooo. Don't give me a mutual "I love you" between Bobby and Athena like that.
"Go ahead and cut the green wire." Everyone and their sister: "Green? You said Red."
9-1-1 is the superior comedy they slipped into our drink, while we were here for our weekly action, suspense, drama and familial love.
Buck broke off with Natalia, and the show really did it like that. XD Every single person who rolled their eyes at this pairing during s6, we were all justified, but wow. The show really is the only forum to respect the pair even less than fandom does. And of course we find out about it in the middle of a scene built around Eddie being half naked, Buck watching him, with the camera specifically turning so we can discover Buck was initially covered by Eddie's body, and the angle change reveals him, when the whole thing wraps up with Eddie welcoming Buck back to the land of the living... Yeah, wonder what made Buck feel alive again. Don't know. 'Tis a mystery. We were given zero clues...
"I want the honeymoon life." *cries* Chimney is just such a good, good man. And okay, expecting your whole life to be a honeymoon's a bit unrealistic, but Madney are living together and they have a child. They know this. Chim knows this, but he still wants to go for it. Aim for the moon, you'll at least land among the stars, right?
Bobby baffled by Athena's reaction to Norman and Lola is hilarious.
I like how Chim has a great idea, but it's still obvious that it's gonna go wrong, because he can't help going overboard with it...
OMG, that scene with Eddie recounting to Buck what Christopher's date was like... If I were to write my Buddie meta, I would serve a three course meal just from that. I mean, the fact that watching Chris hanging out with a girl he likes, makes Eddie compare it to "hanging out with his guy friends" (when there's no lack of interest in this girl... in fact, it turns out that if anything, Christopher's problem is the opposite of a lack of interest) is so telling. There's a reason why that's where Eddie's mind went.
But then also... Eddie's trust in Buck got to me, the way he went to his best friend (not his own gf) for help with Chris. But that was still played with half a smile. But then Buck sort of disses himself jokingly, and Eddie won't have it. "You didn't end up like you." He sees how Buck worked on being a better person, even when Eddie wasn't there for the worst of it, and he appreciates it, and won't let Buck forget it. Meeeep. I love them.
Oh Chim. I was giving you so much credit, and then you went and bought that outdoors jacuzzi. lol Still love him. That's what Maddie's reminding herself of right now, too. ;p
Poor Hen, she was great in this ep, but none of it was really about her, she was comic relief, both with Chim and with the red wire. Then again, she was amazing in this, like she always is with everything.
Eddie and Buck were both so good with Chris this ep, MY HEART. Buck with getting him to talk about what's really bothering him, and Eddie with realizing exactly what his son needs, and how to give it to him. They completed each other. Neither one would be helping Chris without the other one. Tell me again how they're not soulmates?
In conclusion, I love Bobby saying, "Let's go prove one of us wrong," when they're both right. Something WAS going on with Norman and Lola, AND Athena was using them to avoid him.
Argh. That scene of the ship and its passengers being hijacked was rough to watch. </3 I'll still be here to watch the conclusion of this. That's the power of 9-1-1 for you.
It def felt like a great kick to the new season. We had lots of comedy and fun, some great tension, some emotional moments (especially with Christopher), but all in all, it's still clear that the whole thing's a build up to next week. Are you excited?

One of my goals for this year is to read (at my time) my readlist that I've been pushing to the side for years, I will ramble about every manga i finish and try to make a final post expressing my overall opinions. With that being said, I finished Homunculus.
This manga came to me because, despite not being that popular as his peers of the genre, I have seen it throughout being compared side by side with other works as a "masterpiece", that is very depressing and very-many things. Since I can't completely deny my pretentious side, I decided to read it and well, it fell short. If I had to summarize all of Homunculus in a single panel it would be
Tumblr media
Nakoshi eating his own semen. All born and end in here.
If I have to bet one thing, the mini fame that this manga earned it comes from the male audience since this story touches deeply on the "modern male loneliness" and well, this story hits the nail on this topic really well. And it frustrates me quite a bit because the concepts that were used and its premise in general are undoubtedly innovative and definitely interesting! they are an easy bait if you are looking for psychological and "deep" mangas. The creativity with which this author illustrates the human psichologycal struggles buried in the individual subconscious in such abstract and creative ways are magnificent, in fact there are whole pages that have helped me in my creative process, so kuddos for that.
Tumblr media
As the story reached its last arc, I felt like the author took a few steps back. Some situations flew too convenient for the protagonist to justify... this, but what bothers me most is that everything Nakoshi learned with each homonculi on his own personal journey of self-discovery and with his relationship with Ito and Nanako ended in fucking nothing. That wouldn't be a bother if glimpses of his grown hadn't been shown chapter by chapter, but in the end what had the greatest weight was his obsession with himself, with his own misery locked in the barriers of his ego that keeps him from observate himself. In the end it's like Ito said, Nakoshi believed that he deserved an award for simply being empathetic and giving people their right to be seen and listened, a compensation for being an emotionally competent man in society. It is for this reason that I call homunculus an ode to male loneliness where the ego, envy, demands and lies that capitalism imparts on young men: the least attractive bird is the one who dies alone, where's only room for resentment to grow, an allegory of the invisible man for the unlived easier life, so the only way to get out of your grave is to accept that the world owes you nothing, to stop licking your wounds and let them heal, which Nakoshi seemed to get but never did. And just when I thought that "wow maybe acceptance is the solution" in how he looked so desperately for his first lover to reconcile with his past, everything goes back to zero.
Tumblr media
Nakoshi never loved Nanako, he only loved the attention she gave to him, and he abandoned her for other more beautiful yet hollow eyes. Nakoshi is just a clown looking for a circus, but for free and forever empty. I feel very sorry for Nanako, she didn't deserve anything that happened to her, to have trusted- puring her heart out to such a big piece of shit like Nakoshi, he ruined her life. I genuinely cried over her chapters and her past with him, and I totally agreed until the end with her inability to forgive him, until Nakoshi's face turned into a demon in the darkness and his obsession with himself, with his own semen, won him over.
But among the things that made me happy were Ito transitioning, the only character that I genuinely manage to appreciate and respect. I talked about them in another post but to summarize, I deeply hated at first how predatory they were with the sand girl, but in retrospect it it's brilliant how the author managed to illustrate through it their sexual confussion and gender identity crisis mixed with the yearn for their father's acceptance. They're the best character without a doubt.
Tumblr media
I would recommend it? If you are looking for inspiration for your work because of it amazing art and concepts? 100%, if you are looking for a compelling pay-off story, no. If you want to eat your own semen waiting to get rewarded for doing the bare minimum, fix that idk.
Maybe some stories are told to end in pathetic tragedies.

The topic of black crime has taken over Twitter. It all started when Elon Musk responded sympathetically to a Tweet that presented data showing black-on-white crime is the most common form of interracial violence. The original tweet was completely correct, and you can see Noah Carl for some of the sophistry that has been used to try to deny or obfuscate on the underlying facts.
Tumblr media
I personally don’t have the patience for taking part in these kinds of arguments, at least in the way that Noah is engaging here. It’s like the people who spend all their time arguing with trans and feminists by pointing to *scientific studies* showing that boys have penises and girls have vaginas. Men have more grip strength. Scientists just proved it! I guess someone has to do it, and I’ve run into some actual human beings (on the internet anyway) who tell me that they accepted the blank slate view of sex until they looked at the data. This makes me sad. But since the data does convince some people, I guess I’m glad someone is providing it.
Race and crime is similar. The numbers are there if you need them. I suppose foreigners might. But I grew up just outside of Chicago, and data on black criminality is to me just as unnecessary as sex comparisons of grip strength. Chicago is about a third black. Like many midwestern cities, it is extremely violent, with nearly all of the crime concentrated in black neighborhoods. When crime does spill over into the nicer areas, it’s committed by the people from those neighborhoods.
I knew many family friends who were Middle Eastern immigrants and store owners in the city. Every now and then, some distant relation or acquaintance would get their store looted or, in at least one instance I remember, shot and killed. Michael Jordan’s greatness was much appreciated and respected but its consequences used to fill the community with fear, because another championship tended to create another possibility that stores would go up in flames. The Arabs would speak in shorthand. “What happened to Walid’s store?” “You know, the blacks…” “Ah.” Actually, they would say “the slaves,” if you want to really know how Arabs talk.
Here’s the thing: while only immigrants and white proles explicitly discuss this aspect of their reality, every single person within the orbit of the city behaves as if they know the truth. No matter who you are, unless you’re one of the residents of those communities, your life is organized around avoiding the pathologies of the inner city. If you’re a desperate immigrant, you might open up a store, put up a “We Take EBT” sign, and take the risk of being shot. White Americans are less inclined to do this, so they instead just flee black neighborhoods and do what they can to get their kids out of black schools. They’ll make any commute or pay whatever tuition is necessary. No one is confused about this — liberals are correct that entire swaths of a major city don’t end up with zero white people by accident. They just attribute this to “racism” rather than the desire not to be sexually assaulted or physically harmed.
I’ve been talking about Chicago, but the same things are true for Milwaukee, Detroit, St. Louis, Cleveland, Baltimore, and countless other major cities. It’s also true for the cities where American elites and policymakers live like Washington, DC, which is why I’m always amused by theories that say they are actually acting in their own interests by coddling criminals. Other than blacks themselves, no group would benefit more from solving our crime problem than wealthy urban whites.
We can therefore ignore those who deny the reality of black crime. They’re either too stupid or dishonest to engage with. Among others on the left, there has been an acceptance of reality combined with pleas to simply frame the issue differently.
When liberals talk about perspective here, what they usually mean is that the likelihood of a white person being victimized by a black person is small in an absolute sense, so why worry about it? It would be a fine argument, except that we are constantly told to obsess over the harms done by police shootings, white supremacist violence, and vigilantes falsely accusing innocent black men of crimes.
Tumblr media
I thought about showing you NYT and CNN headlines implying that blacks have to live in constant fear due to racism. But you’ve probably seen them, and instead I’ll share this clip showing how the topic was addressed a few years ago on a major network TV show.
youtube
As a digression, I would recommend checking out a few episodes of A Million Little Things if you want to see the horror that is the PC therapeutic slop that normies are being fed these days, but that’s a discussion for a different time.
So the crime debate has been going something like this.
Conservatives: Look at all the black-on-white crime.
Liberals: Get some perspective man. It’s nothing compared to the chances of being murdered by your own race. Not to mention heart attacks or covid. These are very small numbers.
Conservatives: You guys are the ones telling us blacks are living in constant fear. Stop doing that.
Now, when having these debates, what’s frustrating is that people are usually talking past one another. There’s not like one guy named “conservatives” and one guy named “liberals.” The liberals who are telling you to have some perspective on black crime often aren’t the same ones pushing the narrative that blacks should live in fear of whites. It’s easy to “own” the other side by putting together views of different people and finding contradictions.
That being said, the myth of substantial white-on-black violence is so deeply embedded in the culture that it’s a storyline in network TV shows. I think it’s fair to ask people to take a position on it. If you dislike racists on Twitter focusing too much on black-on-white crime, know that they are closer to the truth than the race obsessives on the other side, and have a lot less power.
One odd thing about these calls for perspective is that when liberals say that intra-racial crime is more common than crime that crosses group boundaries, what they are essentially saying is don’t worry about black crime, because the victims are overwhelmingly black people. But wait! Since when are liberals uninterested in problems that disproportionately affect blacks? These are the people who write serious NYT think pieces about how national parks are too white. They now turn around and say, let’s not talk too much about murder, because blacks are the victims? It’s a very odd thing, and it’s hard for me to even steelman their lack of interest in solving this issue as they obsess over every other black grievance, real or imagined.
Some years ago I noticed that fact checkers started providing “perspective” on claims rather than simply saying whether they were true or false. Of course, what perspective to take on facts is a huge part of what political discourse is about. Do blacks commit a lot of violence against whites? Compared to the number of cancer deaths, no. But in the context of a comparison to white-on-black violence, absolutely. One can conduct a similar analysis of issues like covid, terrorism, and school shootings.
For me, I like cost-benefit analysis as the way to understand what problems are worth worrying about and what we should be doing about them.
Black-on-white violence is not the biggest issue in the world, but it is useful to talk about in order to challenge narratives that pose much more serious problems. Arguments about supposed racism committed by whites against blacks are why we can’t effectively fight crime in this country and why we can’t have freedom of association or meritocratic criteria in hiring. The belief in white racism as a major factor in American life is the force that distorts all of policymaking and culture. Any arguments that are effective at discrediting that narrative are worth making.
And no, I don’t consider acting on statistical realities to be a kind of racism society should solve. Once you remove reactions that are based on group behavior, and private preferences that are none of the government’s business in a free society, the remaining “racism” in the United States against blacks is negligible, and more than balanced out by the ways in which they are advantaged.
The truth of the matter is we have a disgraceful amount of crime in the US, and the costs are not simply a matter of the number of people robbed, raped, and killed. It’s also a tragedy that what could be some of the most valuable urban real estate in the country is basically uninhabitable. In fact, part of the reason that black-on-white violence is rare in this country is because whites have overwhelmingly fled places where blacks live due to the threat of violence.
Other pathologies of American life, like NIMBYism, which drives up the cost of housing, are also downstream of the crime issue. If you’re a resident of Tokyo, you don’t need to worry about greater density leading to a decline in public safety, the way that Americans have to.
There’s no “perspective” one can take from which a reasonable observer won’t find that inner city crime is a major problem, and something we should do our best to solve. The chart below shows the ten American cities of at least 100,000 people that have the highest murder rates, and how they compare to the most violent countries in the world. The murder rates for cities come from CBS, while the country data comes from the World Bank.
Tumblr media
[ How the ten most violent US cities with a population over 100,000 compare to the most violent countries in the world. Red is US cities, blue is countries. ]
You might be saying that it’s unfair to compare cities to entire countries, since urban areas might have concentrated violence. Yet the most violent countries in the world tend to be small. For example, St Louis, which is number one in murder in the chart above, has 293,000 people. That’s a larger population than St Lucia (180,000) and St Vincent (104,000), which are shown on the graph. Detroit has 632,000 people, making it more than 50% larger than either the Bahamas (407,000) or Belize (400,000). New Orleans (384,000) and Cleveland (373,000) are close behind. So this isn’t a matter of cherry-picking areas with minuscule populations and making them look bad. These cities are the size of small countries, which means we are pretty much comparing apples-to-apples in many of these cases. And if you want to make a real apples-to-apples comparisons, try contrasting American cities to those in other first world countries, like London.
As I argue in my articles on El Salvador, any polity that has a high enough murder rate needs to make solving crime its number one priority. This was true for that nation before Bukele came along, as it is for major American cities today. It’s not a big mystery how to do this, it’s just politically difficult, because literally everything that works is considered racist. You need more cops, more prisons, and more use of DNA databases and facial recognition technology. You can’t have concerns about disparate impact in a world where crime is so overwhelmingly committed by one group. And yes, liberals are right about one thing, which is that gun laws matter too.
Tumblr media
But the left is so out of its mind on everything touching on race that even though they’re right that gun laws matter, when it comes to actually enforcing them, they tend to shy away from doing so for the obvious reason.
While I support policies that can make incremental improvements, actually solving our crime problem to any serious extent would take a revolution in our culture or system of government. Whether you want to focus on guns or the criminals themselves, it would involve heavily policing, surveilling, and incarcerating more black people. If any part of you is uncomfortable with policies that have an extreme disparate impact, you don’t have the stomach for what it would take. And, unlike some, I’m not naive enough to think that non-criminal blacks would end up grateful towards those who took the steps necessary to make their communities safer.
Dealing with the crime issue is complicated for reasons that go deep to the heart of the American psyche, which means there’s little hope that things will change any time soon. Until they do, we should continue to at the very least push back on the most malicious lies being told about race in America.

Faster than a speeding train, things that ran through my head while watching this episode:
--This episode was full of fanservice, pure and simple. But meta service? Well, that was a tease.
--Like that close-up on the evening newspaper? There was a big headline that warned people in the mountains to be careful of bear attacks, but the dates were just blurry enough that I couldn't make them out. Dang it, Ufotable!
--But as for that close-up on the missing persons posters at the beginning, if you're looking for names to use for people who already disappeared on the Mugen Ressha, there's a 20-year-old Yamazaki Chiyoko, a 12-year-old girl named Setsuko, somebody with the last name Okuda… not that I believe the mystery woman who got left for dead but left uneaten was among these people, she's only been missing one night and is already expected to make a full recovery with no scars. Including not a single scar on her heart, and she'll have the ongoing protection of the Corp! What a princess! And just… an satisfactory plot device. After all the emphasis on how demons are horrid and leave irreparable damage on those whom they effect, her experience and Rengoku's assurances that she'll be totally fine sort of cheapen this.
--To that effect, Rengoku-san made a better point later in the episode, after Fuku apologizes for assuming demons don't exist. It's better proof of the Corp's hard work if people can go on thinking that, never having been affected in the first place!
--For as morally outstanding as Rengoku is, honesty doesn't appear to be an important virtue. Or at least, dude has no idea how to make a convincing lie. "I'm a bentou seller." Yes. Sure you are, Rengoku-san. I'll bet that after Speedy's attack at the garage, the workers are later going to look to each other once everything calms down, and somebody's going to say, "you know, I don't think that guy was sent here by the railway HQ."
--And Speedy, as a villain, just… ugh. I'm glad Rengoku-san made short work of him and just shut him up.
--I just… I need to sigh again for all the hype I felt for this episode, only to find the writing so… siiiigh….
--Like, I respect that they had constraints in how much they could affect or reframe the plot which comes thereafter, so they chose instead to dig (too deeply) into the lore behind "umai" just as a way of providing fanservice because everyone loves Rengoku-san. And we do!! We love the unnecessary cape flip! We love that he defeats demons with ease! And I certainly love that he has a heartwarming moment hearing that Fuku's mother and grandmother were saved by Shinjuro and that he is emulating his father, and how he wants to tell his father this good news that the people he saved all those years ago are still well, thanks to him. He wants to see if good news like that will do anything to reassure his father of the worthiness of his efforts. I love this quietly sensitive side of Rengoku-san, who is just as prepared to not have such news have any positive effect and will just make his father lash out.
--But……. I don't think they actually did Rengoku-san's character any favors with all this emphasis on how much he loves and respects food. "Don't drop your anpan" is so… not an important thing to focus on in this situation, and taking a bit bite out of food that's not his, well… it's cute and funny, but I feel like it would had been more in keeping with his character for him to catch the anpan and give it back and go on asking questions about his mission. And then showing more disgust for the demon when Speedy steps on the bentou instead of, like, when Speedy's got his nails digging into the boy's flesh, is kinda… kinda not showing Rengoku-san's strength in accessing a situation and zeroing in on what needs to be taken care of. But, sigh, if they had to use the bentou as a plot device, I guess this was a clumsy way to do it.
--Siiiiigh.
--Man, they had me so hyped with all that emphasis on atmospheric settings, the Corp members rushing toward the train (and supposedly about to meet their deaths, as we know there's already been victims before Rengoku arrived), and a Corp member who we'd never see again after this… but again, Ufotable only felt enough flexibility to do fanservice, not stakes.
--And just… the whole…….. running faster than a speeding train……….. okay, I'll let this one slide, Pillars DO run fast, Rengoku-san HAS moved this fast in canon.
--If Enmu brought Speedy there as a decoy, I wonder how he did it? "Hey, I need to attract the Demon Slayers' attention for a few days. Be slow and coy with it, leave them presents on your trail." "Why in the world would I do that??" "If you do a good job, I'll tell your idol Upper Moon 3 how cool you are." "IT'S A DEAL!!!!!"
--Leaving all my disappointments aside, there are things I find endearing in this pure and simple fanservice filler. I find Fuku-chan and her granny sweet, and I like that Granny reacted to the sight of Rengoku right away, and acted believably for someone who has had a run-in with demons in the past. Ufotable is totally committed to this bentou lore being part of the plot too, what with making merch and gallery displays themed around the bentou vendors. It was indeed fun at the last Toei Movie Studio event to go on a make-believe set of this shop, complete with all the signs and items on sale. :D
Tumblr media Tumblr media
--And that boy in the blue haori, and the girl who takes the lead once the team of back-up arrives? How can I not like them? (And knowing me, how can I not feel tempted to want to write fanfic about them?)
--Ufotable showing off their soba animation skills is funny, and impressive. I wound up picking up a sweet potato bread for breakfast this morning to be on-theme for a Rengoku episode, but I regretted later that I didn't get anpan and pick up soba for lunch.
--But also… yes, I am a victim of fanservice. Rengoku-san is unnecessarily cool.
--But like
--HIS NICHIRIN-TO
--OH LORDY
--UFOTABLE, THERE ARE CHILDREN WATCHING THIS

I love how every single fic about the Harbingers i read around internet and among all of them, Capitano is always being #1 best husband/partner 🛐 like, it doesn't matter if its a fluff, angst, yandere, etc. He just too perfect 😖💓 (i guess he really gives that vibe-) Gosh, it makes me love him even more 😩💞
also the fact that we absolutely have almost ZERO information about Capitano other than him being the strongest individual in Teyvat and how he really values honor (also, all of the Fatui soldiers really respect him, so i guess he treats his subordinates well) makes me really want more crumbs about him 😔 i really want him to be playable.. (I really hope that he won't die just like Signora.. I'm still sad about her 😭😭 if she [for some reason] got resurrected in Natlan Chapter, i'll get her immediately alongside Capitano) my mind is still being occupied by him still to this day since day 1 of his appearance and idk if that's normal- (but for some reason, thinking about him makes me feel a bit better.. idk why?)
anyways, i want to ask u something. Do u have any games to play beside Genshin? Or games that u really want to try? As for me, i've been eyeing Honkai: Star Rail for a while now since i saw the Final Beta announcement recently.. I really want to try it! The characters there looks really cool (especially Blade, Jing Yuan, Clara and Svarog 👀)
-🥝
(i really need to make sure to put my anon emoji this time, i always forgot to do it 😞 my head keeps pounding and i hate it so much-)
Capitano is so bf material it hurts😢 I wonder how much Capitano fics you have saved, it must be a really large collection 🥝 anon! And I've been meaning to ask, have you heard of the theory that Capitano is the Bloodstained Knight? I watched a theory video on youtube here and it kinda blew my mind hehe. The way they connected it together made so much sense. For me, I really want to see him fight🥺 Literally I'm going to need a scene of him stomping enemies no problem. But your dedication to Capitano actually makes me so happy, you have such devotion 😭
I agree with you, I would definitely get Signora immediately. I feel like no one appreciates her and only makes fun of her death😭💔 Also yes! I can't wait to play Star Rail. I have it preinstalled and I've been looking at the beta, it looks so cool and pretty! The ultimates/bursts look so fancy! I just don't know how long I'll be able to keep up, gacha games are a lot of work😅 I also used to play Honkai Impact soooo much, my captain level was over 80, a long time ago I had to drop it because my phone storage could not take it... Some other games I like though are Fire Emblem and Persona💓

(Work has been kicking my ass. Pray for me.)
The image of Tia observing the pirate ships carefully and trying to come up with a plan to take them out slowly and methodically, only for Sage to race past her, flame sword in hand, and she's just like left in the dust for a few moments, blinking bewilderedly, is hysterical to me. She's trying so hard to keep them both safe, but it's like herding a very angry tiger. Tia kinda just gives up and throws herself after him, while making sure there's at least a little raft to get them back to shore so they don't have to swim.
Meanwhile, Aaliyah and Sweetpea are speedrunning the term 'Mass Property Damage'. Because Aaliyah is used to 'Fuck Around and Find Out" Sage and Sweetpea is used to "One Hit or Bust" Tia. There's a lot of explosions happening in a very short period of time.
(Sage and Sweetpea share a single look of She can never know she's right when Aaliyah tells them bombs are better before they both start arguing their cases again. Although it does start another argument over whether bomb arrows or barrels are better.)
Sages' Secret Clubroom. A place of mystic reverence. A place where you may gain the wisdom of your predecessors. A place where you may seek refuge among your fellows. A place where you may train your mind and soul in solitude. A place where Sweetpea keeps getting his ass kicked at the Hyrule Version of Uno by Riju and Tulin and no one helps him. Not even Sidon. The betrayal! (Only Aaliyah knows how Sweetpea managed to get a whole bunch of squishy pillows into the Realm, but she's refusing to tell anyone.)
Hateno chills out severely once Natura is fully removed from the house and Ariel takes back over. Cause No One wants to be the one to tell the overprotective big brothers and sisters that Ariel got caught up in some silly fight or someone made her cry. Ariel is every bit as sweet and curious as her original big siblings but had gotten a lot less tolerant for bullshit when confronted with some villagers trying to start something with her new ones. (Ariel was also just straight up "Oh, you brought home a strange Sheikah woman who's from an alternate Hyrule and wants to get back to her version of you, but the Hyrules have merged and now she and her Link are now here permanently? I think you mean MY new Big Brother and Big Sister now." The immediate urge to Adopt is strong in Sweetpea and Ariel.)
(The only thing Ariel and Sweetpea don't fix back is the little secret hideout in the back. They use it as a mushroom garden. Which Sweetpea takes great delight in showing Sage only to get a mushroom shoved into his mouth to stop the grinning.)
Sage and Aaliyah mellowing out a bit because now they get actual recognition? Appreciation? Respect?! for what they went through and for their boundaries. Tia's treating them just as she would anyone else and Sweetpea is worming his way into their hearts (like the zero self-preservation fungus he is) and everyone in their Hyrule is just so much more understanding? Like they all know the Calamity and the Upheaval sucked from their end so being in the heart of it must've especially sucked. So Tia's Hyrule is immediately 'Our Heroes now. No Take Backies. Even if they nibble at first.' (A new slang starts going around. Talk Shit, Get Bit.)
(I totally get it. I work in a pizza place and every day I'm left drained from doing a job meant for four people and I'm only one ;-;)
Tia is so over Sage's shit by the third pirate ship. At that point she's learned to catch him, practically choking him out before he can get past her. She's trying to give him the backup he's used to, but it's hard because him and Aaliyah had such a wordless way of communicating, it's difficult getting him out of those habits.
Aaliyah and Sweetpea speedrunning Hyrule cracks me up. Together they are the one hit wonders and should it take more than one hit, that thing better fucking run because they aren't doing a third. It's a wonder Hyrule stays standing after they're through with it. Something not working? Blow it up. Something did work, but they have no need for it? Blow it up. This random 'traveler' is talking about bananas?
Blow 'em up.
(THE SILENT AGREEMENT THAT SHE CANNOT BE RIGHT ISNOFFB Even Tia knows better than to boost the ego like that. Who knows what kind of person she'd become should she know the truth. Know what she could become. She's just glad they aren't going through practical experimentation to support their arguments.)
(...Yet.)
Them playing the Hyrule version of Uno is so great because there is no way the sages aren't competitive. They all are. Tulin and Riju are those little siblings that make you pick up twelve only to throw a fit when you turn it around and hit them with a pickup sixteen. Yunobo barely knows what's going on half the time. Sidon hides cards. (It's their best kept secret. Believe it or not, that's where the go to gush about their respective partners when they can't sleep to the other. Probably have wedding binders up there and everything.)
Ariel is the most protected individual in Hyrule lmao. Like imagine these two figures, cloaked in dark robes and just oozing dangerous energy walk into town. People are closing doors and windows, shops are flipping signs and then boom! The village's sunshine child is running right up to them with a gleeful smile and cheers. People are gasping in horror at what could possibly happen to the child only for the taller of the two to scoop her up and throw her into the air, making her burst out in happy giggles. The shorter one is digging through their side bag only to produce a gorgeous sundelion and putting it behind her ear, giving her own greeting with a hair ruffle. That's how people learn that Ariel now has four siblings and two will commit murder no second thought needed. (Possibly all four)
(The urge to Adopt is an inherited trait LMAO)
(Sage is cursing every well for starting that secret hideout. He wants them GONE, but he can't say no to Ariel sweet face. He's a sucker for her.)
Sweetpea working his way into Sage's heart will never not be funny. Like Mikey and Raph from TMNT. "Sage is just a big fluffy teddy bear <3 If big fluffy teddy bears were incredibly violent." And Tia's hyrule just adopting the new heroes FHFFB ( Talk shit, Get bit is the new thing. Everyone is saying it and the best part? Sage and Aaliyah are completely unaware they are the ones who started it. They just think it's some quirky new thing.)

real talk i’m actually terrified of how capcom is going to end the personal storylines for the legacy characters, because like
most media with a long-standing cast ends by pairing them up??? and GOD do i not want that.
like chris/jill is a given and that’s fine and absolutely no one would be shocked if they did that, and honestly they should’ve just pulled the trigger on it years ago, but like.
resident evil has switched hands through so many different dev teams over the years, and it feels like every single different team has had a different approach towards leon and ada, which is why their relationship is such a huge fucking mess, like.
i remember when degeneration was first coming out and people were bummed that leon was going to be in it but not ada, and the director’s response to fans re: ada was “she can’t be in everything.”
so then damnation and RE6 hit and they both went WAY WAY WAY OVER THE TOP with their relationship and then got HUGE backlash for what it did to leon’s character, so capcom just went back to fucking ignoring ada all together.
vendetta, infinite darkness, and death island just... straight up don’t even acknowledge her. she’s absent from them completely, the same way that she was in degeneration.
and then RE2make and RE4make happened, and the team working on those games completely reshaped what their relationship looked like and made it more realistic, which will make it much easier to write out a progression for it that makes sense
but because it’s realistic, it’s 100% incompatible with how OG canon has played out, so they can’t really use it as a baseline for ending their story officially in the OG timeline and like
god what a fucking mess. if they make leon/ada the endgame, people will be pissed. if they don’t make leon/ada the endgame, people will be pissed. there’s no winning. but this is a mess of their own making for tailoring their relationship solely around fan response from installment to installment, instead of just like. writing a fucking story. honestly they should just let leon die a hero’s death and be done with it. it’s what he really wants, anyway.
jk they’ll kill off ada long before they kill off leon because leon is the moneymaker they can keep in their back pocket for cameos.
and then what do you do with claire and rebecca? do you bring back billy at the zero hour so that rebecca can run away with him? and capcom can be like, hey late 40s rebecca, remember that guy whose dick you thought about sucking when you was 18? yeah he’s your endgame after 30 years of radio silence enjoooyyyyy!!!
DO YOU KNOW HOW PISSED I’D BE IF THE GUY WHOSE DICK I WANTED TO SUCK AT 18 JUST SHOWED BACK UP AND THE UNIVERSE DECIDED WE WERE GOING TO GET MARRIED well i guess it depends how well that dick has aged, i haven’t seen him since i was 20
and claire has never had a single prospective romance go well for her. so, again, they’d just have to introduce someone at the zero hour and go with it.
what they SHOULD do is just put claire and rebecca together, but they won’t.
but you know
i’m no cleon fan but
i would actually laugh REALLY FUCKING HARD if capcom went full scorched earth and killed off ada and then paired up leon and claire, because holy shit. holy shit that would take balls bigger than yoshinori kitase’s, and y’all saw what he did with FF7 remake and how huge his balls had to be to do that.
like, i’m not into the ship, but i would become into the ship if they did that.
and that’s not at all a slight against ada. i like ada. i like ada more than most people who hate aeon do. but i always respect any creator that commits to a massive subversive rug-pull that is guaranteed to piss off the vast majority of their fanbase just because it’s their story and they’re going to do what they want with it regardless of how it’ll be received. like. end of evangelion is among the highest art for me. i love that shit, man.
anyway.
tl;dr i don’t envy the position capcom is in, but at the same time, it’s their own fault for fucking around for so long without committing to any one single idea for three of the five of their main fucking characters.

death of a true war criminal,zero accountability

Death of true war criminal, good riddance, zero accountability
The infamous US war criminal, Henry Kissinger died centenary in his bed in Kent, Connecticut, while his millions of victims all over the world were not so lucky. Kissinger would be celebrated and feted as genial geopolitical analyst, hailed as the man of rapprochement and détente between the United states and China, of the Strategic Arms Limitation Talks (SALT), arms limitation treaties between the US and the USSR, aimed at restraining the arms race in long-range or intercontinental ballistic missiles armed with nuclear weapons, which had resulted in the signing of SALT I and SALT II in 1972 and 1979, the evil who fooled Gorbachev to struck the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF) in 1987. Kissinger might not have been motivated by hatred of communism. But he was a reactionary who empowered and enabled the sort of reactionaries for whom anticommunism was a respectable channel for America’s racist and exploitative socio-economic traditions.
Bush’s declaration of protection for Kissinger, coupled with his rejection of the Rome Treaty on the International Criminal Court, extinguished a glimmer of hope that Kissinger would someday join Pinochet under arrest. It was always a fantasy. The international architecture that the U.S. and its allies established after World War II, shorthanded today as the “rules-based international order,” somehow never gets around to applying the same pressure on a hegemonic United States as it applies to U.S.-hostile or defiant powers. It reflects the organizing principle of American exceptionalism: America acts; it is not acted upon. Henry Kissinger was a supreme architect of the rules-based international order.
Of course, the western mainstream would hide the dark side of the evil responsible of mass killing scored more than 4 million deaths according to the Yale University historian Greg Grandin, author of the biography Kissinger’s Shadow, estimating that Kissinger’s actions from 1969 through 1976, a period of eight brief years when Kissinger made Richard Nixon’s and then Gerald Ford’s foreign policy as national security adviser and secretary of state. America, like every empire, champions its state murderers. Every single person who died in Vietnam between autumn 1968 and the Fall of Saigon died because of Henry Kissin Kissinger materially sabotaged the only chance for an end to the war in 1968 as a hedged bet to ensure he would achieve power in Nixon’s administration. In February 1969, weeks after taking office, and lasting through April 1970, U.S. warplanes secretly dropped 110,000 tons of bombs on Cambodia. By the summer of 1969, according to a colonel on the Joint Staff, Kissinger — who had no constitutional role in the military chain of command — was personally selecting bombing targets. A second phase of bombing continued until August 1973, five months after the final U.S. combat troops withdrew from Vietnam. By then, U.S. bombs had killed an estimated 100000 people out of a population of only 700,000. The final phase of the bombing, which occurred after the Paris Peace Accords mandated U.S. withdrawal from Vietnam, was its most intense, an act of cruel vengeance from a thwarted superpower. Kissinger inflicted indirectly rather than by edict. In 1971, the Pakistani government waged a campaign of genocide to suppress the independence movement in what would become Bangladesh. For Kissinger, the Cold War was a geopolitical balance among two great powers. The purpose of Cold War statecraft was to maximize American freedom of action to inflict Washington’s will on the world — a zero-sum contest that meant restricting the ability of the Soviet Union to inflict Moscow’s — without the destabilization, or outright Armageddon, that would result from pursuing a final defeat of the Soviets. On September 4, 1970, Chileans elected the democratic socialist Salvador Allende president whose program was more than redistributionist, nationalizing the firms Anaconda Copper and Kennecott held by these two companies, Allende informed them he would deduct estimated “excess profit” from a compensatory package he was willing to pay the firms. It was this sort of unacceptable policy that prompted Kissinger to remark, during an intelligence meeting about two months before Allende’s election, “I don’t see why we need to stand idly by and watch a country go communist due to the irresponsibility of its own people.” The coup was only the beginning. Within two years, Pinochet’s regime invited Milton Friedman, Arnold Harberger, and other economists from the University of Chicago to advise them. Chile pioneered the implementation of their agenda: severe government budgetary austerity; relentless assaults on organized labor; privatization of state assets, including health care and public pensions; layoffs of government employees; abolition of wages and price controls; and deregulation of capital markets. “Multinationals were not only granted the right to repatriate 100 percent of their profits but given guaranteed exchange rates to help them do so,” Grandin writes in his book Empire’s Workshop. European and American bankers flocked to Chile before its 1982 economic collapse. The World Bank and Inter-American Development Bank loaned Pinochet $3.1 billion between 1976 and 1986. Pinochet’s torture chambers were the maternity ward of neoliberalism, a baby delivered bloody and screaming by Henry Kissinger. This was the “just and liberal world order” Hillary Clinton considered Kissinger’s life work.

So, there's something that needs clarifying. My Gender Identity is "they/them enby on feminizing hormones who presents very masculine." It's unwieldy and kinda silly. Valid, but unwieldy.
Thing is, it's intentionally a transitory stage of my life. I'm invoking denial tropes while medically going full throttle because, well, there are a few factors. So first off, my job is not a safe space. My boss is a transphobe. (He's also a moron and a doormat, but he's a transphobe). I work at a warehouse manning a security checkpoint; I deal with a wide variety of smelly people who drive big rigs for a living. Not all of them come off as the kind of people who would respect me as a trans woman (certainly not as an openly nonbinary person). I don't present male because I necessarily want to, but because I have to for safety reasons. Hence the goatee, an easily maintained demarcation of alleged maleness that I don't think looks godawful like what i look like with a full beard.
Point two: I've been so up my ass in doubts that I didn't take my hrt for about 3 months, and on top of that I kept getting denial haircuts or thinking "I'll just buy a wig hahaha" (BAD IDEA 0/10 do not reccomend). So while I've been on HRT since Jan. 2021, there's three months of stalling in the middle thereof.
Third thing, the big one: I'm plural. I'm self-diagnosed with OSDD (the non-amnesiac variant of DID) but my therapist and psychologist at the time both made no effort to deny my feelings. I have had significant dissociative breaks from my/our "core identity" that, in our mind, reinforce our confidence in the self-diagnosis.
the main factor of that is, "Ray" refers to a larger group of people than a single individual. it includes at least Jake, Ray, and Rachel, and potentially also includes Blu-Ray, Jennifer, Refraction, Hyperion, Barry, Rose, and Calem. This is the level zero and level one of our concentric rings model of our plurality. While pronouns, genders, appearance, sexuality, memories, even SPECIES varies among us, the ten of us share enough in common that we can't tell each other apart sometimes, and (this is the kicker) MIGHT NOT ACTUALLY ALL BE SEPARATE PEOPLE. (Rachel and Jennifer might be the same alter, same with Ray, Blu-Ray, and Refraction. Rose we genuinely had to invent/retcon an explanation for because they fronted for a few days without realizing if they were a new person or not and we haven't seen them since.)
It gets more confusing. Jake is explicitly, actually [DEADNAME REDACTED], the host from earliest memories to 2018-2019 or so. He was functionally DEAD for like two years before we did an edible and had a really bad reaction. To quote him at the time, "I'm vibing with my deadname, my brain is convinced it's 2018, and please close the curtains and turn out the lights because I can't stop staring at the sun." Weed is fucking wild. And he not only stuck around, he took his life back.
So let's talk about Ray. Not Ray the singletsona we project to the world, Ray the alter. but to talk about ray we have to talk about nate. Nate is a bigender foxkin roseboy nature spirit. He is adorable but not very mature. Thing is, She was the host for the first few months of our being open about our plurality, because no one else was up to the task or wanted the job. This was like spring of 2021 and Rachel (1) (we assume) was dormant after an identity crisis that resulted in our acceptance of our plurality. (it's possible we've been plural since ~2017, but definitely since 2020). Once Nate realized he wasn't up to the task, having had a series of mental breakdowns that lost us the only job we've ever had with growth potential, she basically CREATED Ray to be the mature adult we needed to host the system. Ray traded off hosting with Nate, blended with basically everyone at one point or another, stopped existing only to come back, blended with nate long term, blended with jake long term, possibly blended with jennifer to re-form rachel before rachel became a separate entity who may have absorbed jennifer (also jennifer is actually rachel 2 and rachel is rachel 3)...
its complicated, and we barely understand this. and keep in mind, this has in no way stabilized. going back to the beginning of this post, we are actively doing fucky gender stuff that doesn't necessarily make sense, and this is why. The "pilot" of the body isn't consistent or easy to determine most days.
Just the easiest example: Jake and Ray. Jake and Ray look very similar (and like the body). Jake and Ray have the same underlying personality. Jake and Ray are so good at pretending to be each other they fool themselves. What's the difference between Jake and Ray? Jake wears jean jackets and uses he/they. Ray wears flannel and uses they/them (usually). sometimes, jake and ray blend into RJ. Who is RJ? The same person as jake and ray, they just are both simultaneously. maybe. IT'S CONFUSING.
Then there's Refraction, aka Empty Spaces Ray, Blu-Ray aka more effeminate Ray with blue hair, whatever the extant version of Rachel is aka Rule 63 Ray, Rose aka Butch Rachel, Hyperion aka angry horny dragon Ray with no filter and many fewer inhibitions...
BUT
there is a plan. As we move forward in our transition, the progesterone scrip we got recently takes effect, we properly grow our hair out, our breasts get too big to ignore (and we finally buy a damn bra for them), we (hopefully) get an orchiectomy, we lose a little weight on our stomach (or it redistributes in a more feminine/sexually attractive fashion), we shave our body more often while needing to do so less, etc.. We can blossom into a beautiful woman.
Something that's been happening recently is pretty bad dysphoria attacks that coincide, with or without us realizing, with Rachel fronting. Our goal is simple: let the HRT work its magic, give it a little push, and then Rachel takes over as host. Ray disperses, Jake goes dormant (he doesn't feel like he fits in in our social circle that's mostly trans women since he's on the line between cis and nonbinary, and it embarrasses him). The others come and go as they please.
This post ended up longer than I intended but if you value me/us as a friend or just want an insight into how plurality works for some systems (no two systems are the same but some work similarly), please give this a thorough read. it'd mean a lot to us <3
signing off,
Jake, Ray, Rachel, Refraction, Barry, Calem, Hyperion, Blu-Ray, Rose, Jennifer, Nate, Serena, Maisie, Shockwave, Ginger, Lilith, Spider, Steven, Shelby, and Toby

At this point, I genuinely, from the bottom of my heart, do not believe racial diversity crammed into a single country is better than a homogeneous one.
I do not think racial diversity is better. I believe it is significantly worse.
I should also define what I mean by 'racial diversity' here.
1. It is perfectly fine for diverse racial groups to exist on the same planet at once.
2. There is no reason to try to reverse the racial diversity if your society is already made that way. In fact, it would be inethical given the extreme side-effects. I think it is practically impossible to reverse it without committing a lot of evil.
3. However, there is no inherent reason whatsoever, - absolutely none whatsoever - to deliberately make a society racially diverse when it is currently not.
My cynical attitude towards 'racial diversity crammed within one nation' is not something produced out of spite, but truly genuine.
The reason is that the racially diverse groups are seriously not showing good examples.
In fact, they create aggressive racial dynamics within their diverse country, get programmed to act and think aggressively PRECISELY BECAUSE OF THEIR DIVSERITY, then start to project it onto us, expanding their domestically-developed toxic dynamics.
They got it all 'figured out' by establishing toxic relationship based on their local past events,
and they project it onto us without even the slightest bit of doubt, and without giving a chance for a better route to develop.
They do not give us a choice either. It is clear from their popular narratives that they do not think we have the right to choose our own path with our own society.
They straight up claim that it is immoral for us not to make them part of our population, for instance.
They do not even speak our language and have zero clue how we actually feel and think internally, but cherry-pick whatever minority opinions from atypical people among us that cater to their views, reinforcing them.
In the meanwhile, they overestimate how educated they are with regard to racial dynamics because of their diversity, (1) disregarding the fact that they are extremely, horrendously ignorant with events and dynamics happening in a different society, and (2) disregarding the fact that what they're getting in their region is a purely local brand of racial mini-model simulation that does not apply elsewhere. They have extremely arbitrary social experiment going on with their particular brand of distorted models, get ideas from it, than apply it to us, thinking we would be the same as theirs.
And because these distortions underpin the entirety of their way of thinking, everything they say to us is basically built on shit. It may apply to their region, but they don't have the slightest clue what they're talking about when it comes to us. Yet they aggressive say stuff to us, and about us.
I think racial diversity crammed in one country results in very bad things. I think this is the reality.
One might argue the main problem lies in being too readily judgemental, not racial diversity per se.
My answer to that argument is that it is pretty easy for humans to be judgemental, so given that human nature, racial diversity within one nation creates a very bad combination.
I would also like to add that racial so called diversity was mainly created by invasion and slavery. These things are of forced and invasive nature, and now they are attempting to beautify it and mobilize it for their moral high ground and cultural attacks, expanding the invasion elsewhere. I mean.. if it ended up being good, I would've been willing to overlook its initial nature but with a result like this?
It's as if beating up people who look like me within their respective countries is not enough so they gotta expand that violence outward. And it always starts with villifying narratives.
Realistically you can't fix the judgemental nature of human beings, so cramming in different racial groups into one country is basically a very bad idea unless yours have already taken an irreversible route in that direction so you have to make do with that particular route. That's a different situation entirely, which I seriously wish we won't have to deal with.
If our population is decreasing, which it is, then it should be replaced by machines as necessary, not humans from other racial groups. It is a route with an extremely high cost and a lot of ugliness. Just...no. It is a veritable religious dogma to say that different racial groups should be placed within one nation. This claim is so, so not true. The diversity-derived violence first devours its nation of origin, then the violence expands. It is practically a major origin for aggression and violence.

THE IMPORTANCE OF GRAPHS IN DATA ANALYSIS
Tumblr media
The aim of this text is to explain linear regression, exploring 8 essential graphs to effectively show the workings of regression to a heterogeneous audience, especially in the context of data science, visualizations play a crucial role.
All this because in the field of data science, technicians will have to explain to people with different levels of understanding and graphs are fundamental in data analysis.
The use of graphs and diagrams can simplify complex concepts and make them more accessible to non-technical people.
Here, we will explore 8 essential graphs to explain linear regression and delve into the details of the linear regression algorithm in a non-technical way.
1. Residual Plots:
Concept: Residual plots show the difference between the observed value and the predicted value. They help in understanding how well the model fits the data.
Explanation: Residuals are the vertical distances between the actual data points and the regression line. A scatter plot of residuals against the predicted values can reveal patterns or trends in the model's errors.
2. Correlation Heatmaps:
Concept: Correlation heatmaps display the relationships between variables in a dataset.
Explanation: By visualizing correlations using colors (e.g., warmer colors for strong positive correlations and cooler colors for negative correlations), audiences can grasp how different features interact with each other.
3. Weight Plots:
Concept: Weight plots illustrate the importance of each feature in the model.
Explanation: These plots show the coefficients assigned to each feature, indicating their impact on the prediction. Larger weights suggest a stronger influence on the outcome.
4. Effect Plot:
Concept: Effect plots demonstrate the relationship between a feature and the target variable.
Explanation: By plotting the predicted values against a specific feature, audiences can see how changes in that feature affect the predicted outcome.
5. Mean Effect Plot:
Concept: Mean effect plots show the average effect of a feature on the target variable.
Explanation: This plot provides an overview of the general impact of a feature across the dataset, helping to understand its overall significance.
6. Individual Effect Plot:
Concept: Individual effect plots focus on the impact of a single observation on the prediction.
Explanation: By visualizing how a specific data point influences the model's output, audiences can see the contribution of individual data points to the overall prediction.
7. Trend Effect Plot:
Concept: Trend effect plots reveal the trend or pattern in the data.
Explanation: These plots help in identifying any underlying trends in the dataset, showcasing how the target variable changes with respect to a specific feature.
8. SHAP Values for Linear Models:
Concept: SHAP (SHapley Additive exPlanations) values explain the prediction of each instance in terms of feature importance.
Explanation: By visualizing SHAP values, audiences can understand the contribution of each feature to a specific prediction, providing insights into the model's decision-making process.
Among these 8 types of plots, the most useful ones for explaining a model's contribution to a prediction are Weight Plots, Effect Plots, and SHAP Values. These visualizations offer clear insights into feature importance, individual feature effects, and prediction explanations, respectively.
To explain linear regression to heterogeneous audiences, especially those not familiar with technical terms, it's crucial to use visualizations and simplified explanations. Here's a breakdown of 8 plots that can help make linear regression more accessible, along with a Python proof of concept (POC) for each.
1. Residual Plots
Concept: Shows the difference between the observed and predicted values. Ideal residuals are randomly scattered around zero.
Python Code:
```python
import matplotlib.pyplot as plt
import numpy as np
from sklearn.linear_model import LinearRegression
# Sample data
X = np.array([1, 2, 3, 4, 5]).reshape((-1, 1))
y = np.array([2, 3, 4, 5, 6])
# Fit the model
model = LinearRegression().fit(X, y)
y_pred = model.predict(X)
# Calculate residuals
residuals = y - y_pred
# Plot
plt.scatter(X, residuals, color='blue')
plt.axhline(y=0, color='red', linestyle='--')
plt.title('Residual Plot')
plt.xlabel('X')
plt.ylabel('Residuals')
plt.show()
```
2. Correlation Heatmaps
Concept: Visualizes the correlation between variables. Higher correlation values indicate stronger relationships.
Python Code:
```python
import seaborn as sns
import pandas as pd
# Sample data
data = pd.DataFrame({
    'A': [1, 2, 3, 4, 5],
    'B': [2, 3, 4, 5, 6],
    'C': [3, 4, 5, 6, 7]
})
# Correlation heatmap
sns.heatmap(data.corr(), annot=True, cmap='coolwarm')
plt.title('Correlation Heatmap')
plt.show()
```
3. Weight Plots
Concept: Shows the importance of each feature in the model. Higher weights indicate more significant features.
Python Code:
```python
# Assuming 'model' is a trained LinearRegression model
importances = model.coef_
features = ['Feature1', 'Feature2', 'Feature3']
# Plot
plt.bar(features, importances)
plt.title('Feature Importance')
plt.ylabel('Weight')
plt.show()
```
4. Effect Plot
Concept: Illustrates the effect of a single feature on the predicted outcome.
Python Code:
```python
# Assuming 'model' is a trained LinearRegression model
X_single = np.array([1, 2, 3, 4, 5]).reshape((-1, 1))
y_pred_single = model.predict(X_single)
# Plot
plt.plot(X_single, y_pred_single, label='Predicted')
plt.scatter(X_single, y, label='Actual')
plt.title('Effect Plot')
plt.xlabel('X')
plt.ylabel('Y')
plt.legend()
plt.show()
```
5. Mean Effect Plot
Concept: Similar to the effect plot but averages the effect across all data points.
Python Code:
```python
# Assuming 'model' is a trained LinearRegression model
mean_effect = np.mean(y - y_pred)
# Plot
plt.scatter(X, y, label='Actual')
plt.axhline(y=mean_effect, color='red', linestyle='--', label='Mean Effect')
plt.title('Mean Effect Plot')
plt.xlabel('X')
plt.ylabel('Y')
plt.legend()
plt.show()
```
6. Individual Effect Plot
Concept: Shows the effect of each data point on the model.
Python Code:
```python
# Assuming 'model' is a trained LinearRegression model
individual_effects = y - y_pred
# Plot
plt.scatter(X, individual_effects, color='blue')
plt.axhline(y=0, color='red', linestyle='--')
plt.title('Individual Effect Plot')
plt.xlabel('X')
plt.ylabel('Individual Effects')
plt.show()
```
7. Trend Effect Plot
Concept: Illustrates the trend of the effect of a feature on the predicted outcome.
Python Code:
```python
# Assuming 'model' is a trained LinearRegression model
trend_effect = np.polyfit(X, y - y_pred, 1)
# Plot
plt.scatter(X, y - y_pred, color='blue')
plt.plot(X, np.polyval(trend_effect, X), color='red', label='Trend Effect')
plt.title('Trend Effect Plot')
plt.xlabel('X')
plt.ylabel('Effect')
plt.legend()
plt.show()
```
8. SHAP Values for Linear Models
Concept: Provides a measure of the impact of each feature on the model's output.
Python Code:
```python
import shap
# Assuming 'model' is a trained LinearRegression model
explainer = shap.LinearExplainer(model, X)
shap_values = explainer.shap_values(X)
# Plot
shap.summary_plot(shap_values, X, plot_type="bar")
plt.title('SHAP Values for Linear Models')
plt.show()
```
These plots and code examples provide a comprehensive way to explain linear regression to both technical and non-technical audiences. They illustrate the model's performance, feature importance, and the impact of individual data points, making it easier to understand the model's predictions and behavior.
Tumblr media
Another approach to improve understanding is to use a single code for all 8 plots. Below is a pseudocode outline for generating these 8 plots in Python:
```python
# Import necessary libraries
import matplotlib.pyplot as plt
import seaborn as sns
import shap
# Load and preprocess the dataset
data = load_data()
X, y = preprocess_data(data)
# Fit a linear regression model
model = train_linear_regression_model(X, y)
# Generate the 8 plots
plot_residuals(model, X, y)
plot_correlation_heatmap(data)
plot_weight_plot(model, X)
plot_effect_plot(model, X, y)
plot_mean_effect_plot(model, X, y)
plot_individual_effect_plot(model, X, y)
plot_trend_effect_plot(data)
plot_shap_values(model, X)
plt.show()
```
These visualizations will aid in conveying the model's behavior and predictions in an easily understandable manner.
In marketing scenarios, these visualizations can be used to showcase the transparency and interpretability of the model, build trust with stakeholders, and demonstrate the model's effectiveness in making predictions based on data-driven insigh.

Understanding Donor Sperm Treatment in Mumbai with Dr. Manjushree Kothekar
Tumblr media
For couples struggling with male infertility issues like zero sperm count, using donor sperm can enable parenthood. Especially when other assisted reproductive techniques fail. But the choice entails deep social, ethical and emotional considerations. This is where an empathetic fertility specialist provides invaluable support.
Meet Dr. Manjushree Kothekar, a leading IVF specialist practising in Mumbai for over 12 years. With extensive experience in fertility procedures like IUI, IVF, ICSI and donor gametes - she is the go-to expert for insightful guidance on sperm donation.
Why Opt for Donor Sperm Treatment?
Donor sperm may be recommended when:
The male has nil sperm count or too few viable sperm
There are severe abnormalities or genetic issues affecting sperm
Other fertility treatments have repeatedly failed
In case of single mothers by choice and same-sex couples
However, the choice of using another man's sperm to conceive is sensitive and needs understanding on both sides. This is why counselling sessions with an empathetic fertility doctor are so important.
What Does Donor Sperm Treatment Involve?
The process starts on day 2 of the female partner's menstrual cycle. Dr. Manjushree administers medication to stimulate follicle growth and development. Once the follicles reach maturity, donor sperm is introduced.
The sperm sample is acquired from a reputed sperm bank after rigorous testing. The frozen sperm is thawed and inserted directly into the uterus using a painless IUI or intrauterine insemination procedure.
Two weeks post insemination, a blood test confirms if conception was successful. If you conceive, pregnancy care and monitoring follow as usual. The chance of success depends on the woman’s ovarian reserve and uterine receptivity.
Why Choose Dr. Manjushree Kothekar?
With over nine years focused exclusively on IVF treatment, Dr. Manjushree Kothekar is among Mumbai's most respected fertility specialists.
Her experience spans a wide range of assisted reproductive techniques including IUI, IVF, ICSI, embryo and gamete donations. Her clinic also invests in cutting-edge IVF infrastructure for strategic interventions.
However, it is Dr. Manjushree's warmth and compassion that patients highlight the most. Her detailed consultations, ethical mindset and commitment create a safe space for intended parents. This emotional anchoring enables couples to make well-considered, empowered decisions on sensitive topics like sperm donation.

Dr. Manjushree shares indispensable guidance for intended parents considering donor sperm treatment:
Seek counselling and evaluate your readiness: Counselling creates awareness and sets realistic expectations about social, ethical and emotional aspects. This enables empowered decision-making.
Understand legal rights of donor vs parents: The donor legally relinquishes all rights over the child. As legal parents, you have complete parental rights. Knowing this prevents future anxieties.
Emphasize medical safety: Reputed sperm banks rigorously screen donors and test samples for diseases before freezing. This minimizes risks for all parties.
Disclose to your child appropriately: While disclosure is personal, children have a right to know their genetic history. Expert guidance helps determine suitable times and approaches for the same.
Take the First Step towards Parenthood
If you have weighed all options and feel ready to consider donor sperm treatment, the right guidance can make all the difference. By combining her clinical expertise with ethical, empathetic counselling, Dr. Manjushree enables intended parents to make empowered, well-considered decisions.
