Kit kit kit Anakin is 21 in the Hunger Games snippet! I'm so curious, what made you decide to extend the age range for the Reaping? Is it still older Obi-Wan? Like Kenobi show era? Or more closer to his ROTS age?
im glad you’re excited for it!! 🤩 I admit, anakins age might drop back to 18/19 before the first chapter gets published on ao3 and details like that get locked in—I’m torn over both their ages, as I like the idea of 18/19 yo anakin getting his way and getting obi-wan because he wants him completely and knows to sink his teeth in when he wants something
But i also like him at 21 because it gives them more time together before anakin’s Games, which gives them more familiarity with one another which I liked writing in yesterday’s snippet—anakin knows him so well, has spent at least the past five years loving him and learning him and obi-wan has allowed him to slowly but surely. I think obi-wan slowly letting his walls down and letting anakin in over a long period of time is in character for this version of him, but that wouldn’t be as possible if anakin’s 18/19
Mostly I need them to go into the arena as an established relationship but I don’t know exactly how established I want them to be (~5 years together vs ~1 or less years together)
So I’m experimenting with anakin’s age still as i try to decide where I want them to fall!!

Excerpt:
“Anakin?”
He felt somebody sit to the left of him on the bench. Anakin looked out of the side of his eye. Obi-Wan’s back was against the wall, his head resting, tilted slightly back, on it as well. He appeared to be looking at nothing.
“Is Qui-Gon dead?”
Obi-Wan canted his head, the back of it still against the wall, to study Anakin. Anakin fully turned and lifted his eyes to meet the Jedi’s. Nobody broke the gaze this time.
“He’s become one with the Force,” Obi-Wan replied.
“So, he’s dead.”
“Physically.”

probably a controversial take but i don’t agree when people ship anakin and padme with other people.
like whenever i see people shipping r*xwalker, s*bedala (or god forbid: ob*kin, an*soka, ob*dala or ob*anidala), it always seems to downplay the love anidala canonically has for each other. they only have eyes for each other and no one else. for anakin it seems ooc asf that he would even look at someone else romantically other than padme. sabe probably does have a crush on padme, but even while reading the whole padme trilogy, it never felt like those feelings were ever reciprocated. while obiwan is literally like a dad/older brother to anidala and ahsoka is literally like their daughter/younger sister.
the “proof” the shippers for those other ships present are literally just examples of two people being really good friends and deeply caring for each other. platonic love exists. just because i would die for my family and close friends doesn’t mean that i want to fuck them yk.

The fact fandom sees Obi-Wan as an uwu baby at 25 years old while also considering that Anakin should have got his feelings over his mother together at 9 show how bad it can get when we infantilize the characters to suit our vision of them imo.
At 25 Obi-Wan was a grown young adult when he started taking care of Anakin, in fact many people in real life marry and have children at that age, in light of that his hurt feelings and jealousy over Qui-Gon asking him to be knighted, which is supposed to be a good thing, a recognition of his skills, so he could take care of Anakin, show Qui-Gon was right in that Obi-Wan still had some maduration to go but that he was ready to be a Jedi Knight.
ObiWan defeating Maul sealed the deal for the council but it also presents a very problematic precedent, it wasn´t his emotional maturity and wiseness the thing that made Obi-Wan a knight but his dueling skills in his combat with Maul after his master was killed.
In Anakin´s case at 9 he was old to be introduced to the Jedi because he isn´t 4 or 5 but he is very young to be made a padawan, they usually start at 13 or 14 like Ahsoka did. So given Obi-Wan wish to train him to make a reality Qui-Gon´s dying wish, Anakin was made a padawan sooner than when he was supposed to be one, not because he was a kind child who worried about others and wanted to make a lasting change in the galaxy for the slaves, he was made a padawan because of his power potential and the Jedi Order didn´t try to make adecuations to the fact he was old enough to remember seeing slaves being blow up by their masters and the fact his mother was still a slave and in constant danger of this happening to her as well. Nothing of this was addressed with Anakin, he was told in no uncertain terms that his responsibility and compromise with the Jedi Order, which he made at 9, didn´t involve him thinking about his mother or seeing her ever again. Anakin obeyed this dictate until his mother was tortured killed and he had his first fall to the dark side by taking revenge on the tuskens for the murder of his mother.
Later at 19 he is made a Knight not because he had shown a grown in his control over the force or his own feelings but because he was an able soldier with leadership skills which served him well to survive a war in which the majority of the padawans of his generation were killed , at 20 he was made a Jedi master for Ahsoka during war time, he was responsible of teaching her how to be a Jedi while also making sure she didn´t die while also taking care of his troops and giving victories to the Republic all of which he did, even when his padawan was expelled, even when his men were killed for knowing too much like in Fives case and at 23 he was a general and one of the leading Jedi in the war, married to Padme with a child on the way, so Anakin was two years younger than Obi-Wan was when he was still a padawan and meet Anakin for the first time. Anakin fell to the darkside and became Vader when he was 23 years old, two years younger than padawan Obi-Wan.
So If I use the age argument it wasn´t Obi-Wan the one who got pushed into a situation he could not have managed on his own for his age but Anakin definitely was, because of his particular power and skills even if the popular take is that Obi-Wan was a baby at 25 taking care of an ungrateful, unstable almost teenager Anakin as a 9 year old, for many fans Anakin never was a child but he was, the fact he didn´t had an actual childhood is another thing.
But well if we take this in consideration then it makes all the sense in the world Yoda choose to let Anakin´s twins grow up with their families, train Luke when he was an adult and not make him a Knight at 23 if he didn´t deal with his inner conflict over his father but it was Luke´s choice of not wanting to fight or kill his father but rather ask him to come back to him, to the person he used to be, the thing that made the difference. Anakin came back to save his child from his master, himself and the Empire, he gave up his life to give Luke and Luke´s dreams a chance.
So while age certainly is a factor it isn´t everything when it´s about a character grow and choices imo.

Mace loving spooky baby obiwan!!! Ok, so obiwan goes from spooky baby to distinguished gentleman according to Mace, when was the transition?
I vote for the year on Mandalore! Cause beskar can block the force, what if that's what helps mellow out obiwan along with getting some feral bitey energy out on the death watch.
It'd be like when you leave for college and coming back on the first break, suddenly your shorter younger sibling is now much taller than you. Obiwan left for a year and came back calm. I'm sure Mace wanted to do exorcisms, lol 🤣
No no no, you misunderstand, Obi-Wan never calmed down, Mace just got Stockholm Syndrome.
Obi-Wan is still feral, tho he is way more exhausted when he has to take care of Anakin, so Anakin refuses to believe he was ever That Bad, but he never calmed down. He also learned manners towards rich assholes while a padawan himself, so he knows how to be polite to politicians at least, but he didn’t calm down.

So a couple thoughts from The Harbinger episode.
I think Ventress isn’t completely lying but I think her “about which part” is telling. I don’t think Omega will become a significant Force User. I do think she had the potential at one point in time, but she’s too old now to be able to harness that ability. I remember Yoda’s apprehension at Anakin’s age, and I think Anakin was younger than Omega is (or maybe they’re around the same age) when he started training. Of course I also think Yoda saw the potential for Darkness in Anakin and tried to use his age an excuse (he did this with Luke initially as well). I do think she still has that high M-count and so therefore her blood is valuable to use to clone or reinforce others who still have the ability to be trained. Plus we always have that “cloning Palpatine” angle. But I think the chances of her becoming powerful like Ventress or Obiwan is not possible. Some people are able to learn Force skills as an adult, like Luke, but it’s not going to be that way for everyone.
I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Ventress honestly. At least I hope not. While she has no stake in whether or not Omega survives, I do see her trying to keep her away from the Emperor. I get the impression that Ventress saw a bit of her younger self in Omega during their short interaction. She seemed to feel sorry for her when they were on the boat. But Ventress isn’t a teacher. She was never given that opportunity. All she can do is repeat the tests that were likely done to her as a kid. So I don’t see her returning in that capacity. I see her maybe lending a hand during missions or perhaps getting them out of a sticky spot if she returns.
While I don’t quite ship Ventress and Crosshair (them having a pretty well choreographed fight and him helping her onto the ship doesn’t mean anything), I do like the idea of them spending more time together. Both were confident they were safe in their chosen loyalty. Crosshair with the Empire, Ventress with Dooku. Both had that loyalty betrayed in a very visceral way. Both made mistakes that they’re trying to atone for (Ventress may not be the best at this, but I go back to her helping Ahsoka briefly). So they have some things in common with each other.

Maul/trans!Obi, post-TPM pre-AotC
Maul just follows around waddling Obi-Wan with gnashing teeth and hands clawed in frustration.
They took away his lightsaber 🥺
As @ineffable-sparrow put it:
any au where Obi-Wan is pregnant with Maul’s baby is hilarious because on one hand that is Maul’s nemesis and he wants to kill him/ruin his life but now he’s pregnant with his kid and he can’t do that any more
Savage and Feral end up at the temple because of Maul has to suffer through this so do his younger brothers

Maul:
I want Qui-Gon to have survived, and Maul ran off, ditching both the Jedi hunting him and Sidious.
He and Obi-Wan have been playing cat an mouse for a few years before they start falling into bed together (or a wall, or a table) whenever Obi-Wan catches up.
And after a few incidents, Obi-Wan decides to do something stupid and gets rid of his bc, and a few months later…
(I think Zabraks should be able to smell if their partner is pregnant.)
Sparrow:
Maul goes to fight him then catches the scent and his brain immediately makes the record scratch sound
He tries to kidnap Obi-Wan.
Obi-Wan refuses to be kidnapped, goes back to the Temple.
Maul follows him with confused and slightly horny rage.
With Qui-Gon still alive, Dooku maybe hasn't left? So Obi-Wan's dad and grandpa are circling Maul like You Are Not Good Enough For The Second-Babiest Lineage Member.
(Because Anakin is the babiest.)

It’s so hot.
Which, given the amount he’s had to drink this evening, is no surprise. It’s a common joke between Obi-Wan’s friends that his complaining about the warm temperature of a room is the tell-tale signal that he’s crossed the threshold into drunkenness.
He doesn’t feel drunk, though. Not entirely anyway.
Some fresh air is all he needs.
It’s been several years now since those extended weekends here throughout his time at university. He’s passed out on just about every flat surface in the house. Everyone always coveted an invite to Padmé’s family's vacation home on Lake Naboo. Most uni students barely had a proper flat to call their own, while Padmé had a summer house. It was impossible to hold Padmé’s wealth against her, though. Not when she made everyone she met feel as if they were part of her own family.
Obi-Wan slips through the doors onto the large balcony that overlooks the lake.
“Oh,” he says, seeing he’s not alone. “I’m sorry. I —”
“S’fine,” the man says, waving him off. He’s holding a half-full flute of champagne and it sloshes to the rim as he gestures. “I’m…I’m just taking a break.”
Obi-Wan nods, and leans against the railing, placing a comfortable distance between himself and the stranger.
“I needed some fresh air,” he says.
The lake is frozen over, as it always is this time of year. Faint lines from morning skaters can be seen criss-crossing over the thick ice. Obi-Wan isn’t sure he even remembers how to skate anymore.
“I’m Anakin, by the way.”
Obi-Wan almost chokes. “You’re…”
The man gives a sideways grin. “Welcome to my lovely home.” The smallest of hiccups punctuates his quip.
“I…I shouldn’t be wandering around —”
Anakin waves him off again. “Please. I know you. You’re Obi-Wan Kenobi.”
“I am,” he stammers. “I don’t think we’ve met…”
“Nope. But Padmé talks about you all the time.”
Guilt overwhelms Obi-Wan. “I was sorry to...to miss the wedding.”
Anakin shrugs, then takes a sip of his drink. “Padmé was pretty pissed.”
“Yes. I know.”
“Got married right here,” Anakin says, swinging his arms around to showcase the veranda. This time, his champagne does slosh over the rim of his glass.
“I saw pictures. It looked like a lovely ceremony.”
“Do you smoke?”
“Pardon?”
Anakin hiccups. “Neither do I.”
Obi-Wan must be drunker than he thought, because suddenly Anakin is the funniest person he’s ever met. He snorts in laughter, then uses the sleeve of his jumper to wipe at his nose.
“Y’know,” Anakin says, “Padmé always said we’d be good friends.” He looks over at Obi-Wan and cocks his head. “What d’you think?”
“I’ve been told I’m agreeable enough.”
It’s Anakin’s turn to laugh. He doesn’t hold back in the same way Obi-Wan does, instead throwing his head back and practically cackling to the sky. “I’m pretty sure I’m the most disagreeable person ever.”
“That can’t be true.”
“Sure it can.”
“Well—”
“See?” Anakin grins.
“How did you and Padmé meet? I’m afraid I…” Obi-Wan clears his throat. “I’m afraid I lost touch for a bit.”
Anakin rolls his eyes and downs the rest of his champagne. “Yeah. I heard.” He shrugs his shoulders. “What can I say? Padmé likes younger men.”
Obi-Wan chuckles. “How lucky for you.”
“Damn right.” He looks around and frowns. “Do you mind if I sit down?”
“There’s a bench just — oh.” Anakin has plopped down into the settled snow. “Alright.” He finds himself sitting down on the ground, too. His trousers are sure to be drenched after this, but he’s too intoxicated to care.
“So why’d you come?”
“What?” Obi-Wan questions.
“Tonight. Padmé’s been trying to see you for years.”
“Oh. Well…” Where to even begin. It was never Padmé’s fault. What happened to Qui-Gon, it…it was complicated. And, now, looking back, he wishes he had done so many things differently. He’d been hurt and angry and confused and — it had been easy to shut everyone out and disappear.
“It was time,” Obi-Wan says simply.
“One AM, I think.”
“What?”
“Did you ask —” Anakin stops, then throws his head back in laughter again, this time slamming the back of his head against the railing. “Never mind,” he manages through his laughter.
Obi-Wan begins to laugh, too. “So why are you out here? Instead…of —”
“I hate people.”
Obi-Wan lifts his eyebrows in surprise. “All people?”
“Most of them. Except for Padmé. You seem okay, but I think you’d be more boring if you were less drunk.”
“If I was less drunk?” Obi-Wan cries in outrage. “I beg your pardon, but —”
“Hey look.” A smile splits across Anakin’s face. “It’s snowing.”
