Reader and Spencer had a relationship for about 2 years before they broke up and then they just kinda slept with one another after bad cases which lead to the reader getting pregnant. They kinda have a co-parenting lifestyle where reader is the "lead" parent and Spencer get's child (Avery) on weekends and some weekday
Only Hotch and Strauss and JJ and Emily know (Hotch because he's her boss, Strauss because she's Hotch's boss, JJ because she's Spencer best friend, and Emily because she's reader's best friend)
Takes place during JJ and Will's wedding/the end of Hit/Run (Yes, I am aware that Emily also left in this episode, it basically was a double whammy. Except the whole team knew about Emily but not about reader)

Y/N stared at her friends laughing and dancing around in Rossi’s backyard. She watched as Avery chased Henry and Jack around with a stick. She watched as everyone was happy. And she could tell that they were truly happy. Happier than they had been since Emily’s “death”. She wanted to keep it that way, but she knew that soon it would change. They go into the office on Monday and see her desk cleared. She placed the papers on Hotch’s desk yesterday morning. Before they were called down to the bank. She had no idea if he had seen them. But it didn’t matter. She was changing to work with the CIA. It was a better job. Better hours. Not much of a better pay...but she would get to be home for Avery more.
So she felt like this was a good goodbye. Everyone smiling and happy for JJ and Will. No one had to know about her resignation. Not yet. She knew it was cruel, leaving that down to Hotch to tell them. But she thinks it would be easier for her. She already knew that she wouldn’t be able to handle Penny’s crying. The only person who knew was Spencer. And him trying to convince her to stay was hard enough. She knew that if she had everyone trying, she would give in and let them convince her to stay.
“Does anyone know?” She jumped slightly at her Unit Chief's voice. He let out a small chuckle, “Sorry, I should have announced myself. I know you aren’t in the space to not be startled by someone coming up beside you.”
“It’s fine Hotch.” She blew out a bit of air, “And except for you and Strauss, it’s Spencer.” She crossed her arms, “Figured I had to tell him since he’s taking Avery this weekend.”
“Oh yeah? Where is he taking her?”
She laughed, “God I wish I knew. He’s keeping it a secret.”
“So, the CIA?”
She nodded, “They’ve been trying to get me since before that talk you had with us a few months ago.” She looked at him, “About the budget cuts. I was going to talk to you about it that day, but you walked out so fast I never had the time. And then we just kept getting cases so I never had the time to breach the subject with you.”
He nodded, “So what made you decide to take it?”
She looked back at everyone, “Something JJ had said about her time at the Pentagon and something Strauss told me.”
“Which was?”
“JJ told me that while she missed us, she would never deny how happy it made her to get to see Henry more. And to not have to worry about being pulled out and away from him randomly. More stable hours. All of it.” She pushed some hair out of her face, “I talked to who would be my boss to see if that would be possible. They offered me a different position. One I could only get with Strauss’s permission. That was how she found out and I started on the papers.”
“And what did Strauss say?”
“To think of Avery. To think of what would be better for her. And I did. The job at the CIA provides more stability. It’s more of an executive role. I could be home at a more reasonable time. And it’s a closer drive than it is to Quantico. Plus, it is a promotion.” She laughed, “I actually was in disbelief of Strauss convincing me to take it.”
Hotch laughed with her, “That is a strange feat.” He sighed, “So today was your last day.” She nodded, “And you’re leaving the responsibility to tell the team to me, aren’t you?”
She sighed, “It’s not like it’s what I want to do, but it’s easier for me. I don’t think I could handle Penny’s crying.”
He nodded, “You know you’ll just have her showing up at your apartment in tears, correct?”
“Yes, but she’ll also show up with a container of cookies. So it’s more of a win than a loss.”
“I can’t deny that one.” Hotch turned to face her, “It’s been a pleasure to work with you these past 4 years. And if you ever wish to return, the BAU will be happy to have you back.”
She smiled at him, for once she wasn’t surprised to see a smile on his face. If there was one thing Y/N had to say about Hotch, it was that he could be predictable. And she knew that he was going for a handshake, the more professional option, but she wrapped her arms around him. While he could be a pain in her ass sometimes, she would never deny that he knew when she needed a break and forced her to take it. And she wouldn’t deny that sometimes she saw him more as a father than a boss, which she knew was what he wanted sometimes.
“Thank you for not getting upset and trying to convince me to stay, Hotch.”
“If I know anything, Y/N, it’s that sometimes you need to make the choice that would be better for your kid. It may not always be the easiest, but it’s the best.” He pulled away, “I’m going to head back to the party before anyone becomes too suspicious of us talking.”
She laughed, “They are profilers afterall, I think they got suspicious the second you smiled.”
He laughed as he walked away, “That much is true.”
And as he walked away, she saw Spencer was walking towards her with Avery on his hip. She gave them a soft smile as they neared.
“Someone here is getting tired.”
“Aw,” She took Avery from Spencer’s arms, “Is my little girl tired.” Avery nodded softly, “Okay, it is getting late. We’ll soon.” Avery nodded again and laid her head on Y/N's shoulder.
“So, did you tell him?”
Y/N nodded, “Pretty sure it was reluctantly, but he approved my resignation letter. I start Monday.”
He sighed, “You know that the only reason I didn’t really fight you was because it’ll be better for Avery. Otherwise I would have argued with you. And won.”
She hummed, “Nah, I would definitely have won and not given in. Only Penny can out-argue me and I will accept defeat from.”
He laughed, “That’s understandable. Like, totally and completely understandable.”
“Well, I think that I am going to go on out, join me out front in about 10?”
He nodded, “You gonna get my keys from the bowl?”
She nodded, “Yep, I’ll get them and transfer the stuff to your car.” She sighed, “I’ll go tell everyone bye. And try to avoid promising to see them on Monday.”
He laughed, “That’s gonna be a hard one.”
“Shh,” She hushed me, “Let me dream.”
She followed Spencer down and saw as he went to talk with Emily and Rossi. So she started with Penelope and Derek. Derek saw her walking over to them and threw his signature smile at her. “Hey Pretty Girl, how can we help you?”
“Hey, I’m gonna head out. Avery here is all tired out. So I think I’ll see y’all later.”
Penelope gave her a goofy smile, “Yeaaaah. We’ll see you on Monday!”
Y/N's smile faltered slightly before she kept it up, “Yeah! Totally! See you later.”
She blew a kiss at Penelope and brought Avery’s sleepy hand to wave at the two as she walked over to Emily and Rossi. She told them the same and soon enough she was walking over to Will and JJ. JJ shot her a happy, but tired smile.
“Hey, you heading out?”
Y/N nodded, “Yeah, Avery is all tuckered out so I’m gonna take her home.”
JJ raised an eyebrow, “You or...?”
Y/N laughed, “He is. But I’m leaving first to be able to switch everything over to his car.”
JJ laughed, “Alright. I’ll see you on Monday?”
Y/N froze for a brief moment. Thought that she should maybe tell her the truth. But she didn’t. She just smiled and nodded, “Yeah, I’ll see you Monday.” She waved at them both, didn’t even try to have Avery wave as the small girl was dead asleep. “Bye JJ. Bye Will. Tell Henry bye for me.”
Henry nodded, “We will.”
Avery walked away from them and then out to the front of the house. She grabbed both hers and Spencer's keys from the bowl on the table and walked out of the house. She walked down to her car and carefully opened it without waking Avery up. She was able to move everything from her car to Spencer’s without waking the small girl on her hip. Just as she was getting Avery ready to place in Spencer’s car, he walked out.
He gave her a soft smile as he got closer. “Is she asleep?”
Y/N glanced at him as she was buckling Avery in. “Yeah, she fell asleep as I was talking with Emily and Rossi.” She kissed Avery’s temple before carefully shutting the door. “So, when will I learn what you are taking her to do this weekend?”
He hummed, “Never if I have anything to say about it.”
She smirked, “So evil Spencer Reid, oh so evil.” She sighed and leaned against his car door, “Are you really okay with me leaving?”
He crossed his arms, “If I’m going to be perfectly honest? Absolutely not. But I know that it is what’s best. For your mental health and for Avery.” He sighed, “You know that the team is going to be upset that you’re leaving without telling them.”
She nodded, “I know, Spence, I know. But as you said, it’s what’s best for me and for Avery. And besides, Hotch said that if I wanted to rejoin, I always could. So who knows,” She shrugged, “I could end up being JJ and coming back because I miss this all too much.”
He laughed, “Maybe I’ll hope for that.”
She rolled her eyes, “Yeah, maybe.” She said, “I’m gonna go now. I’ll see you later, alright?”
He nodded, “Yeah, I’ll see you later.”
Y/N walked away from Spencer and back to her car. And as she got into the front and started it, she smiled sadly as she listened to “This Year’s Love” by David Gray played through her speakers. As she drove home, she thought about the past nearly 5 years she lived on this team. All of the good and bad things that had happened in the past years. All of the good and bad memories that she had.
She knew she still had more to go through. More to learn. More to live. But she was happy to have lived this life the past years of her life.

So I've been seeing a lot of people talking about Good Omens Season 2 and the Final 15 and Angst. And I'm watching the conversation sort of become either you loved Season 2 fully because you like angst, or you have reservations/didn't like it/are upset because you don't like angst.
And that didn't sit with me right, because I actually am not anti-angst. I mean, let's be honest about some of the fics I've been beta-reading for (@aethelflaedladyofmercia's amazing Aziraphale's Children Series and @mirjam-writes Be Still My Soul Series to name a few--needless to say, if you read these mind the damn tags). So I've been digging into it, and I think I've realized what inspired my initial knee jerk towards E6, my early reliance on various Discord S2-Venting channels, and I'm hoping it'll resonate with other people and maybe help them put things into words.
So, you know, Spoilers, and Long Post below.
Again, I am not anti-angst. What I am is someone who doesn't consume in-progress media. I don't actually watch a lot of television, nor do I watch any of the big movie franchises like Marvel where you've got to watch 12 movies to understand how you get to the Thanos snap, and then you've got two more movies to resolve the Thanos snap, nor do I read book series that do not have a published end. I don't even read in-progress fanfic unless I am beta-reading it. The TV series I do watch tend to be Monster of The Week shows, Doctor Who, Criminal Minds, Bones, where you maybe will have a season/series arc, but the format is designed so that unless it's a season finale, the "main" story of the episode is tied up neatly in that episode (and maybe a special guest is around for a two part season finale, or mid season special, or whatever). And maybe something bad happens in the season finale (this building exploded, the Doctor started regenerating!) that's a "cliffhanger" of did he/didn't he die (set up for an actor to potentially take a season off, or gracefully exit the show, or deal with off season contract negotiations), but for the most part, there is still a resolution for that season and episode.
So as I'm looking at folks still processing their feelings, and moving through handling S2, what I'm realizing is that I don't actually think the problem here is the "angst" and I'm finding myself getting a bit frustrated as people have started drawing a line of "you like angst, you don't like angst" as what's causing the fandom to have feelings right now.
Good Omens the book is a completed form of media. As is the radio play. And the musical (ostensibly). And Season 1 was, also, a completed form of media. It did not need a second season to complete the story it was telling. Now, I'm sure as we do more digging once we do get the third season, we're going to see little seedlings that Neil planted in season 1 for us in the hopes of fulfilling a promise to his best friend. However, it was and remains a completed form of media.
While yes Neil did warn us that Season 2 was the connective tissue between 1 and 3, I think I was still expecting S2 to be a semi-completed form of media the way most television seasons are. Not everything is resolved, no, but we've arrived at the end of this book. But season 2 is not a stand alone book. It's a prologue to s3.
My reasons for not engaging with uncompleted media is not really something I've spent a lot of time poking at because it's not that serious and honestly completed or not, I have a hard time focusing on tv/movies/books anyway because the ADHBees that live in my brain. I had a professor in grad school ask me once if I ever allowed myself to do "nothing" and let my brain shut off. I went "Oh I go to the gym!" and she got snippy because that's not "nothing," and then I had to explain to her that that's fine for her brain, but for my brain, walking on a treadmill is the only time you'll actually get me to watch television and let my brain "turn off." So I started using the gym as a time to catch up on all the latest pop culture. Good Omens S1 was a rare treat for me in that I did put down my phone the first time I watched it, and I'm not sure my hyperfixation would've been as strong had I not watched it in 2020 when I couldn't go to the gym to watch tv. But from my initial reaction to S2 I think my problem with uncompleted media is a mix of ADHBees and a dash of anxiety. I don't mind a cliffe that I've created by stopping reading at X chapter in my book, or pausing the binge on X episode of this show, so that I can go to bed/work/the bathroom. And I don't even mind that end of the season "What happens to the Doctor next?" or "Did Derek survive that bomb blast?" Because I know that the current arc that I'm invested in is complete and the next season will be a new arc, that will answer those questions (that may depend on actor schedules).
As I sit with it more, though… Season 2 is great. I have some issues with the Not-Neil writing, I won't label it as Bad, but I will say there were moments where I went "That's not Neil or Terry" and I have feels about that, because for me, Good Omens is Neil and Terry. While Terry isn't with us and I expect it to be more Neil than Terry, I wasn't ready for moments that weren't either of them. I'll get over it as I watch it more (and have, already, started to love some of those moments). But my issue isn't the angst. It's that, this was a prologue, and I don't like engaging with uncompleted media.
I think a fandom that is 33 years old based of a completed book, you're going to have more people who also don't engage with uncompleted media--whether they've made that realization of themselves or not. I think the struggles folks are having has less to do with "I Love Angste" vs "I Loathe Angste" and more to do with "Is there any kind of resolution to this season's arc?"
It is my belief that we have been given an excellent set up for next season. Seriously! I'm very excited! But I don't think I was given a good resolution for Season 2. I can't even say Gabe/Bee is a good resolution because by the time we got to the fly, it had been a hot minute since I had really spent time with Jim/Gabe or Bee being the main character on screen. So I lost my investment in them. My investment was in Crowley & Aziraphale, Nina & Maggie, and Shax & the Archangels. Because that's what the writing told me to be invested in. Muriel is adorable, and I love her, but like Gabe and Bee, I could take or leave all of them and what we saw of them, tbh. Gabe and Bee's story was so rushed and felt so empty compared to the characters we did spend time with (I really feel like I have more connection to the Magic Shop and it's history than Gabe and Bee's history because of how we had that time in it spread out and given to us in a way that made us care, I sort of wish their relationship hadn't been a mystery to us, the audience, much the same way as Adam as the anti-christ wasn't a mystery to us, and that the mystery had remained "where is Gabriel's memory?" because then that twist of "Oh the Archangels wiped it--WAIT THEY DIDN'T?!" would've hit even harder) that even though you could point to this season and say that their arc is clearly what was resolved in this season--their arc didn't start until 15 minutes to the end. Maggie and Nina's arc was excellent, but also we only saw them telling Crowley about their end of the season resolution (the end of the story resolution will, obviously, be them getting together, as the angel Maggie knows, as Nina rolls her eyes), we didn't really get to see their resolution.
This season was a lot of filler, and that's okay! I know Neil told us there was connective tissue. I just wish there had been a stronger story to center myself on in that connective tissue so I wasn't left with such a strong feeling of: "...that's it?"

These are my full notes & thoughts.... aka one big rant👀
Okay so a quick reminder that I watched the German dub of season 4 so if I mention voice actors it's always the German ones. Oh, and I don't consider anything post movie #1 canon. Okay that's it, thank you. Now let's start the rant.
Episode 1:

yeh this season is so cringe, okay? i watched 26 episodes and i feel like nothing really happened? the plot was so lame and slow. i mean, look what happens in s1-s3 in all the episodes. there was so much more going on. it was just relationship drama and unncecessary i gotta say. if they have to write rivusa so toxic then why don't they simply break them up and give them a harmonic ending? maybe being friends is better for them? also no fan of musa becoming a girly bitch with long hair. give me back my tomboy. i have to say too: a season without the trix is no real season even though the wizards are cool. also faragona is so useless let's don't talk about that. and the winx were teachers for ONE episode and after that they are like: meh no we live now our ugly love and pet life in gardenia. the pets, the PETS. i HATE them. they are so ugly. I mean the pixies had a plot they had to fulfill. they had a SENSE in the winx universe. the pets are just ...ugh. not cute. Then Roxy: my opinion on her: she's a bit over dramatic but fine i guess? still wonder why her wings are so big if she is no believix fairy. nebula, diana and aurora were really cool but come on, we did not really need this season. then the criticism that everyone has: wtf with the second movie. where does it take place? why is nabu alive? why do they have their beliviex? it's just that this season was rushed and the plot was meh. and i know it gets worse so let's face it. winx ended after the first movie and this is an ass ugly boring and lame written ff au.

Well... i finished to watch the first 50 episodes and i can say only this:
"I can’t watch Boruto.
And I’m never going to be able to. First: the fact that the academy children are chunin level. It doesn’t make their power ups interesting and you aren’t surprised by anything they do. Defeating jounin level ninjas with one blow as an academy student is unheard of and quite frankly it doesn’t make anything worthwhile. It sucks seeing people praise that the new generation is surpassing the old one so quickly, so soon, so young. What is there to be proud of in that? I don’t really understand how you could praise the fact that children are this powerful due to heritage. It’s basically cheating. It’s the equivalent of why everyone disliked Sasuke due to his literal genes. Everyone who goes after him always comments how lucky he was to be born a Uchiha. He was legendary for his genes alone but that isn’t what made him a Godly ninja. He trained himself to become that strong, he was just luckily gifted with Uchiha genes, but Sasuke still trained his body to endure different change in chakra natures and learned taijutsu and adapted to different fighting styles and combat.
Boruto is using three different chakra natures when a jounin has been said to only adapt to two? The idiocy. It’s ridiculous. It’s not even about outshining the old generation anymore it’s about making the old generation look as kitten and incompetent as possible now.
People are starting to say that Boruto’s team would pass the Bell Test with flying colors in this day and age–do any of you realize that Bell Test was revolutionary for not only team work but hard work? kitten would it look like having these twelve year olds basically slit their sensei’s neck to retrieve bells in this day and age? The old Naruto had feeling because they worked hard for every achievement and teamwork aside, they used what little knowledge and training they had. The Next Generation kids seem to be able to snap their fingers and hurricanes and tsnuamis happen. A child that’s half a Hyuuga can use a gentle fist better than his own mother at her age and she’s full blooded Hyuuga. Also on top of that let’s not forget that Boruto hasn’t trained for that technique, he’s just gifted, as they say. They are comparing the Jougan to Naruto’s Kyuubi–what even? First of all a jinchuuriki and special prowess are not and never will be in the same realm.
This show continues to anger me as it goes on. It’s utter trash. Also not to mention the villains are weak minded as hell. Everything is being rehashed and in the worst possible way, too. It’s not interesting, there are no build ups only cliff hangers because they manage to work you up for an entire episode of just dialogue only just when things are about to somewhat hold your attention the episode ends (I see they are taking points from DBZ with that set up) but it makes the fights less anticipated and worthwhile
Second: Naruto and Orochimaru are friends now???? Wtf??! Oh yes, wait, Orochimaru has helped him during the 4th ninja war so he is justified or not?? Ok let's see:
Yeah it's not like Orochimaru did anything wrong in the first place.
-Perform illegal experiments on people
-Became a missing-nin (S rank criminal)
-Killed the Third Hokage
-Attempted to kill Tsunade when she was a candidate to become the Fifth Hokage.
-Killed the Fourth Kazekage (Gaara's father even if he was an a*hole)
-Invaded Konoha.
-Threatened Tsunade that he will destroy the leaf village.
-Joined Akatsuki.
In the end all he got from Naruto was a pat on the back and some talk no jutsu and he was pardoned from all of his crimes. Now he's still performing the same illegal experiments on children UNDER the new Hokage's orders. Great job Naruto Hokage of the year folks 💀💀🙄🙄

Another episode of "How fucked up is my brain?"
Today was a very good day, weatherly speaking.
Unfortunately, this neuro divergent ass couldn't enjoy it BECAUSE she's in a deep pit of depression that she realized only quite recently and it's still halfway in the denial stage because, even if she realized that, she hasn't call her therapist yet.
Yes, this ass could be a little dumb sometimes.
Coming back on why she didn't enjoy her Sunday: her depression literally forbid her to do any work for my job Thursday and Friday. TOO BAD she has two deadlines for Monday the 6th (and she thought that the 6th was Tuesday. Sad realization of the Friday night). Of course she thought she could spring a 3 day work on 8 hours (yes, we can; more or less) BUT, thanks to the sad realization of Friday night, that wasn't feasible anymore.
SO, she decided: OK! I will work both days in the weekend!
Of course, Saturday nothing happened. She binge watched Criminal Minds (yes, WE KNOW) till 1AM, because that's how deep in the pit she is.
Today she woke up at noon (as per usual for the weekends) and while procrastinating in bed she came up with the chant "today's the day we make anxiety go away" (yes, it's basic, but hey! whatever works!).
That's because the more I procrastinate the more my Anxiety grow stronger and THAT'S NOT SOMETHING SHE NEEDS.
Result: she was able to do the work of 2 days in less than 8hrs for the first project (yeah, she always quote more time because it's what you do, don't you ever quote real time it takes for you to do shit or you'll never have a breather at work). Too bad she has now a sheet FULL of questions that she could have the answer Thursday already and the project can't be completed without them.
And now it's time for her second project... which she's not sure what task she has to do. According to her calendar, she did a call two weeks ago about one of them but she doesn't remember shit (not surprising since it's been two weeks of ONLY CALLS and she HATED every minute of them). The other one she remember, but not what they said to do in the meeting. So she will now do the second one because it has the biggest probabilities to be the one and tomorrow, she will ask a coworker to review it.

Hi friends, how are you? Haven’t really taken up the time to write a blog post. Oh, I’m obsessed with Willifer now, couldn’t you tell? New favourite ship… In this time, I have watched, finished then rewatched Criminal Minds. Love JJ, Derek Morgan, Emily Prentiss and of course William Lamontagne Jr for the life of me. Cannot wait for season 2 of Evolution, I love that silly show.
And I’ve started watching Grey’s Anatomy, I never thought I would be that person but Disney + man, it’s a godsend. I’m currently on Season 4 and I have a few unpopular opinions about that show as well.
Now, the reason I’m back… I’m sure you’re all just waking up or have reacted) to the news that Tracy’s leaving CPD.
… And I’m not sad, I’m actually relieved which is so messed up when you think about it but I’m sure a lot of Upstead and Hailey fans can relate when you love something as deeply as Upstead is loved, their entire foundation only for it to be ruined in an entire season for actually NO REASON (like fight me on this, Gwen could’ve chosen a different route instead of more trauma), was really difficult and emotional for me that I didn’t watch the season, apart from the first three episodes, only the two centric Hailey episodes after 10x03, 10x20 I only watched that unbelievable ring taking off scene and Voight and Hailey’s talk… that angered me, the less I say about that episode the better apart from the fact that Tracy’s amazing, and a literal goddess and we all know about the two episodes before that, character assassination, we’ll be here forever if we go into this.
But yes, Hailey Upton is an amazing character and even though it’s a tv show, I feel strongly for and about her and with the fact that she’s an amazing, amazing cop, her marriage to Jay is everything to me because what they’ve gone through individually in their own lives just to find that right person in each other is beautiful and I do think it’s a testament to how your person should be your best friend and someone you trust explicitly. Plus, Jesse and Tracy are amazing and I loved them the moment I saw them on screen together so… 🥰
Tracy Spiridakos is an amazing actress and as much as I will miss Hailey Upton, I know Tracy’s gonna kick ass with whatever she will do next. Her range is incredible, I can’t sing her praises enough, I absolutely love that woman.
Now, my long speech is over. See you for whenever Season 11 airs, hope you all are staying safe, healthy and happy.

it’s been a while since i’ve done a criminal minds evolution post and i’m going piece together my current thoughts, in the interest of full disclosure:
i haven’t watched past the mid-season break episode because i saw enough spoilers to grasp what was happening and to be honest, i’m devastated.
as my url indicates, penelope garcia is my ultimate favourite tv character and has been for over a decade - aka i’m biased
that being said, i’d like to think i’ve got a pretty solid grasp of what can be determined as ‘in character’ and of the various flaws she’s shown across the 15 seasons of the original show
with all these things considered, let’s gooo:
i am so deeply disappointed with the direction they have taken penelope’s arc over the second half of this season; even when considering my own previous opinions on why she may act in certain ways (see this post) i can’t for the life of me understand why the writers would deem this as an appropriate story line for her
we have seen penelope’s jaded love map in action before (see: shane wyeth and kevin lynch) but never before have we seen that impact anyone but herself, certainly not the victims of the cases she cares so deeply about, her team or her friends who she’ll usually move heaven and earth to protect
we have seen her acting with a steadfast mindset when faced with impossible choices (see: greg baylor and jesse wilson) she knows what’s best for herself in the long term even if it means damaging herself and going against what the people she loves want from her but she has never shown such a shallow lack of self control and self sabotage
we have seen how penelope shows and responds to attraction, she doesn’t always know what’s best for herself but she has never before let her lines be crossed in such a way and fallen into the ‘but i love him’ archetype, even when faced with an actual abusive situation she got herself out in the only way she could (see: the black queen episode)
she has been embarrassed at her own choices and frankly broken from how they have led her to isolation but she has never and would never use that embarrassment as a justification for not reaching out to her support system
she has never shown disregard for other people’s emotions and struggles, she cares and shows compassion even when she really really shouldn’t (see: you’ve got such a big heart and the dozens of references to her being the heart/glue of the team). to see her repeatedly ignoring how she is impacting specifically rossi and alvez but also the entire team is just ludicrous.
reducing such a wonderfully complex and yes, flawed, character like penelope garcia down to another victim of ‘i just couldn’t control myself because of this half-baked connection to a man who’s done nothing but negatively impact me’ is something that i can’t ever accept
i personally think this season presented a perfect opportunity to show her as more fallible than she has been allowed to be in the past: everyone has their limits and whilst hers are clearly higher than most, she is human and she is exhausted.
the concept of her finally, finally saying enough is enough after being dragged back into a job that was only ever a source of trauma for her was so powerful to me a few episodes back.
instead, from what i’ve seen, she has become a self centred villain of her own making and it’s not even been written that way to serve a higher purpose.
15 seasons of development, completely scrapped in the space of 4/5 episodes.
finally, i’m shocked that the writers and actors who care deeply about this show don’t see what’s so inherently wrong about this situation

It so broken.

Just want to send you guys little moments that have happened in the last few days that for sure wouldn’t have without qaf. Just in case if you guys thought that maybe he has even one normal day/moment in his life. I am here to show you that you’re wrong. Anyway:
Our mom called him like 4 times which he didn’t answer. Finally when he called her back, she asked why didn’t he answer before to which he said ‘sorry mom, i was playing with Brian’ and my mom went dead silent and had the most scared look on her face and then just slowly went ‘please, please say you mean the cat.’
He went on a walk with the neighbor that watched qaf and he mentioned to him that he saw Gale on Criminal Minds. And the guy, i guess told him that Gale was on Desperate Housewives and the next thing I see out the window is a grown man trying to speed walk back home. And he barges in and goes ‘we gotta watch Desperate Housewives! Right now! Brian is there!’ And when I told him that he’s only in a few episodes in a later season, he went ‘fuck. So now I gotta watch that whole thing for a bit of Brian? That’s rude but I guess I gotta do what I gotta do’ so now he put DH on his watch list next.
Then he had a call with his therapist and I don’t know what they talked about but whatever it was, it lead to him bursting into my room going ‘do YOU think Brian would fuck me if given the chance?’ We got into an argument because I refused to answer. I mean what do i even say to that? But also i want to know what he asked his therapist with the way he emphasized the word ‘you’.
I was in a “meeting” (more like a catch up) like 2 days ago with my boss and a coworker (who thankfully have met my brother and are both cool) when this dude burst into my office to ask ‘when do you think Brian fell in love?’ He thinks it was before prom, he can’t make his mind up between 1x16, 1x18 or 1x20 he wants to say it was sooner but he doesn’t think so. But he thinks prom solidified it, which btw he said all that while still in the room and then when he noticed my laptop, he very, very slowly walked backwards and closed the door behind him.
Then I went to our local store (it’s like a tiny corner store or whatever) and when I was at the check out ready to pay, the guy working there goes ‘hey, i thought you only had one brother?’ And i confirm that yes, i onky got one, thank god. And then he goes ‘so who the fuck are Brian and Justin?’ And i felt like a deer caught in headlights. Turns out he’s been talking about them like they’re normal people, so the poor guy thought Justin was our little brother and Brian is his boyfriend/my brothers friend.
And my all time favorite one this week was the one that even made our mom laugh so hard she cried: an old lady that went to PT with him (after pt they have him on like some lasers or whatever to help the pain, so he’s laying on one of the beds and she’s on the other) she has heard him talk about Brian to the nurse(!!!) so many times that she actually thought Brian was his boyfriend. And he didn’t even realize it until she left her last session yesterday and before she left she went ‘sweetheart, leave that man, you deserve much better than what he gives you plus by the sound of it, he’s still hung up on his ex’ and my dumb brother sighed and went ‘yeah, i know- wait what’ and she waved and left. He couldn’t figure out if he gave off a certain vibe or was it how he talked/moved and she was just being a little ignorant about it or if all this Brian talk made an old lady think he’s gay. And when I didn’t answer bc idk what to say, he got into an argument with me again because and I quote ‘how dare you not know if I’m gay or not to other people.’ Oh and he texted our mom ‘do I seem gay?’ But he fucked up and wrote ‘seam’ so it changed the whole thing to ‘Am i gay?’ Mom’s response was ‘i don’t know hunny, maybe. Who knows at this point anymore’ it took him TWO HOURS to realize the typo/autocorrect and by then it was too late to fix it so he just gave up.
So i’d say living with my brother at the hight of his Qaf obsession has been going great.

(Btw has QAF come up in my own therapy? Yes, yes it has.)
As for when Brian fell in love - that is such a good question. I think I had an anon who asked me that. I think there's a meta post in your brother that is dying to be posted to tumblr.
Also everyone thinking Brian and Justin are other brothers or your brother's boyfriend or... the fact that your brother is not prefacing all of this with "this is a tv show and these are characters on the show" is just fandom brain. And it's hilarious. And the little old lady telling him to leave Brian? DEAD.
Mom’s response was ‘i don’t know hunny, maybe. Who knows at this point anymore’ is a great response to "am I gay" but also brother not realizing the typo/autocorrect is killing me.

SGU Week Day 4 (oh are we still doing this): Favorite shi
Eli and Ginn were precious, and it's criminal that we didn't get more of them. C r i m i n a l . To say nothing of that double-fridging (that they did twice... ffs).
I like to think that Ginn would be all in for going to earth, and she eventually gets her wish after her file is removed from quarantine (with a sweet clone body grown from DNA harvested from her old clothes, which were initially saved to be backup clothing for some of the ladies on board Destiny, but later saved for cloning purposes [yes I'm aware this means her body would have been buried in some state of undress, but it was off camera anyway so it's fiiiiiiiine]).
Y'all say what y'all like about Family Guy, but the cutaways have tons of cultural references (I am frequently "Peter Griffin Explains the Joke when I watch with my husband). My thought is that Eli shows Ginn episodes of Family Guy to teach her about earth, which you can imagine leads to some pretty ridiculous misunderstandings.

A while back, whilst hunting for meme fodder, I found a mean article written back around when SGU was airing. The gist of it was basically that Ginn was too "pretty" for Eli, and that a "schlubby" guy like him didn't deserve to be with someone conventionally attractive. Idk, maybe I'm old, but I think they're around the same level of cuteness. Also, bear in mind that in the past, having some extra weight was considered a sign of wealth and a positive trait. Eli's body type could easily be a selling point for Ginn, who is apparently interested enough in leaving the Space Cartel that she's willing to risk her life for it. To her, Eli is sweet, smart, cute, and her ticket to a life so cushy that luxuries she can't even imagine are considered commonplace. He's the entire package. 🧡

Gotta learn about Halloween, AKA the best holiday! I do wonder what kind of holiday celebrations they might try to have on the Destiny in some hypothetical future where they can get supplies from earth, especially with all those Lucian Alliance members from various other planets. Obviously not something worth showing in a show that was mainly focused on survival, but it's a fun idea for fics.
And yes, at this point, Family Guy is the only TV show Ginn knows, except for the ones they mention on the show.

This is actually one of the shorter "episodes" I've done, in which Dale gets the bright idea to keep bees on a spaceship. I looked it up, and you can't keep honeybees inside, not even in a greenhouse, because they need more space than that to roam around. Maybe they could genetically engineer some that are suitable for pollinating weird space plants on a starship. No way will that hilariously backfire. Ginn is clearly familiar with the steroid bees, so she will probably think they're normal.
Dale's other idea is to get chickens. Maybe they can get some domestic space quail instead. They're smaller.
"So after we finished Family Guy, we watched some of The Cleveland Show. Then, when I took her to the zoo, she threw a beer into the bear enclosure, and that's how we both got lifetime bans from The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo."
But yeah imagine learning all this random pop culture info from some raunchy cartoon so you can fit in on an alien planet, but no one bothers telling you that the second-most common pet on that planet can't talk. Good luck to everyone when Ginn meets a parrot...

I’ve seen you talk about Vi and Jinx reconciliation but I’m wondering what you think about Jinx’s reconciliation with all of Piltover, as in what are the odds that everyone else other than Vi forgive her and she gets a happy ending?
I’ve made up an entire scenario that goes like this : it would be something like Jinx getting the help she needs but eventually leaving to go somewhere recluse as she will probably still be a wanted criminal (I don’t see the city or authority figures forgiving her for her crimes) and Vi let’s her escape instead of allowing her to go to jail.
How do you think Jinx and Piltover relationship is likely to play out?
Ohhh....well, thank you anon for asking this because it gives me an excuse to talk about a bonkers theory I've had for a while that is in fact so bonkers that I haven't dared raise it unprompted lmao.
Namely, the theory is that Jinx will end up becoming the hero of Piltover. Accidentally on purpose.
Now, this theory (weirdly) hinges mainly on an interpretation of the opening scene of episode 4, where Jayce and Heimerdinger talk about the upcoming Progress Day celebration. It's actually kind of a weird scene. Like, yes, it's meant to introduce to the audience how things have changed in Piltover after the time skip. But why the hell, with Arcane's very tight screentime economy, do they stop and talk about Stanwick fucking Pididly of all people? League easter egg? Maybe. But still why take time to feature this obscure figure from Piltover's past so Heimerdinger can make a point that's kind of a non sequitur?
My theory is that this is foreshadowing. Heimerdinger describes Pididly by saying that
"Everything he built either exploded, melted, or toppled over. And yet, here he stands."
Now, who does this description remind you of? What other brilliant mind in the show is known for accidently blowing things up, literally and metaphorically?
In fact, if you watch the episodes back-to-back this Stanwick Pididly scene comes right after Powder accidently blows up her family. Which I find really interesting....
Heimerdinger's point is that Pididly's failed experiments were in fact critically necessary for Piltover's overall advancement. What if the same holds true of the destruction and chaos that Jinx unleashes?
Also, given the way that Jinx always seems to fail by succeeding, to always accomplish the opposite of what she intended, it makes a lot of ironic sense if, although starting out declaring war on Piltover, she ends up saving it somehow. Going from Piltover's most wanted to Piltover's hero. Now there are lots of potential scenarios of how that could theoretically happen. The most obvious possibility is that she destroys some external threat to the city, like she blows up a Noxian invasion force or some Void monster or something.
It's pretty wild, but something like that is the only way I see Jinx being accepted by Piltover at large. And even then I don't see a happy ending as such happening. I think realistically the best we can hope for is bittersweet.
I've mentioned before that my ideal ending to Jinx's story is similar to Batman's ending in The Dark Knight Rises, where she appears to die saving the city but leaves Vi a message to let her know she's still alive....somewhere. And because it's Jinx it's halfway sweet and halfway sinister lol.
And it would be hilariously amazing if Jinx ended up getting an honorary statue like Pididly and Caitlyn has to preside over the unveiling ceremony.
Is this likely to happen? Probably not lmao, but it's fun to think about.
Seriously though, your suggestion that Vi helps Jinx escape and she goes off on her own....now something like that I could definitely see happening.

This Spencer Ried guy that i see on your blog a lot... sorry haven't watched criminal minds yet.
Tell me something about that character. Why do you love them so much
… well, Anon, grab a chair and make yourself comfortable!
The first thing I actually liked about Spencer Reid back in the day was the fact that he’s played by Matthew Gray Gubler, so he’s definitely the perfect example of non-toxic masculinity to me.
The character is almost immediately introduced as a genius - by his own admission he’s got an IQ of 187, an eidetic memory, can read 20.000 word per minute and has three PhDs (Mathematics, Chemistry, Engineering) which is enough to make me go “yes, give me more of this guy, pls”.
Later on it is also revealed he holds BAs in Sociology, Psychology and he’s studying to get a third one in Philosophy. Need I say more?!
During the first season he’s only 23, meaning he’s the youngest member of the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) team and actually looks like a puppy. Spoiler alert: even after 15 seasons he still looks like a puppy to me and I just want to hug him and keep him safe.
Why? Because he’s S O F T, caring and loves his mom and friends to pieces. They feel the same about him and he ends up being the godfather of both sons of Jennifer 'JJ' Jareau, his fellow team member; another team member, Derek Morgan (who affectionately addresses Spencer as 'kid') names his firstborn Hank Spencer - after his own dad and Reid, obviously, claiming he’s the best little brother anybody could ever ask for.
So, yeah… Spencer is a total sweetheart and has been through A LOT: his father left when he was very young and his mom sadly suffers from schizophrenia, meaning little Spencer had to care for her and was forced to commit her against her will when he was 18 (what’s truly heartbreaking to me is that she’s fully aware and immensely proud of his abilities: she loves him and when she’s not having a bad day she’s easily his biggest supporter).
He’s also shown to be very empathetic towards certain unsubs (the “villains” of each episode, so to speak) especially when it turns out they’ve been victims of violence or abuse, because he himself has been targeted by bullies; in Season 3 he recalls the time his high school mates tricked him into believing the prettiest girl in school wanted to talk to him in private, while in reality the entire football team ambushed him, stripped him naked and tied him to a goalpost (it’s worth mentioning that he was about 12yo when this happened, because being a genius he graduated from high school around that age).
In Season 2 he develops an addiction to Dilaudid, after being kidnapped and tortured by an unsub; the authors of the show have a questionable habit of putting him through hell, just because, and IMHO the only instance when Spencer getting shot actually has a valid purpose is in Season 5 - Gubler dislocated his knee IRL so they needed an explanation for Reid walking around in crutches for a while.
Since I have a feeling this post could go on forever (and we don't have that much time), I’ll just throw in a few more random reasons why I love Spencer Reid: he wears his wristwatch over his sleeve. He’s a Star Wars and Doctor Who fan. He always wear mismatched socks (as MGG, the actor who plays him, does) and is often seen wearing Converse shoes. I’m biased and I know it, but to me he’s easily the best dressed character of the entire show. His apartment is a mood and very dark-academia-ish. He’s socially awkward and displays a lot of behavioral indicators he’s on the spectrum (sadly the authors never confirmed it and it’s one of the many issues I have with the writing on this show, but that’s not the place to talk about it) so I adore his mannerism: he loves to sit on desks/tables, he almost never shakes hand but greets stranger with the cutest hand-waves ever and when he’s excited about something he rambles/talks super fast and sometimes he has an adorable high-pitched squeal (Reid stans definitely knows what I mean).

Anime I Watched in 2022 Part 1:
1. Belle 3/5
*spoilers ahead*
Ughhh I really wanted to like this one. The songs and ost’s were amazing and the visuals were beautiful. I think the creators focused so much on the music that they lost sight of the plot. I had so many questions at the end of the movie: why did she go to rescue the kids on her own; couldn’t her father or some other adult go with her? Why did they build up a romance between her and Beast for nothing to come of it? Why after the entire movie of her friend not being interested in her, he suddenly showed romantic interest? I really wanted to love this movie like everyone else did but I can’t.
2. Promare 5/5
EPIC. The only word I can use to describe this movie. From the soundtrack, to the visuals, storyline and likable characters,this one will hook you from the opening scene. This one will have you feeling like you’re on an acid trip but it’s a good one, trust me. This is one anime movie I can see myself rewatching many times and never get tired.
3. Banished from the Hero Party 4/5
Such a cute romance. Very likable characters. The plot was interesting and the romance was so adorable; my only criticism is that it felt a bit rushed at the end but overall it was a great series. Doubt we’ll be getting a second season though 🥺
4. The Boy and the Beast 4/5
This movie got a lot of negative reviews and I can’t understand why. It was so interesting and going in blind I didn’t expect certain events to take place. I really enjoyed this one. The artwork, the soundtrack and even the characters were all amazingly done. If you haven’t watched this one give it a chance. Ignore all the bad reviews and go into this with an open mind.
5. Demon Slayer Season 2 10,000/5
Where do I begin with this masterpiece. Uzi Tengen has my heart, ; honestly he’s my second favorite Hashira (Giyu being the first ofc). Can we nominate Inosuke as the MVP of this season? This was a relatively short Arc but my god the studio did such an amazing job that every Sunday I was glued to my screen. Once again the Op and Ed were greatly done. The animation was top tier. The voice acting was superb. This is one of those series that I’ll actually sit down and rewatch with no problems
6. Moriarty the Patriot 4/5
This one has been sitting in my watch list for a while. I don’t know why I never gave it a chance before but I’m glad I did. This was such a nice twist on the Sherlock Holmes world. It was so good that in the beginning I didn’t even realize that the characters were based on the Sherlock novels (yes I missed the first couple minutes of the first episode but don’t worry because I binged it after I was done); this series got me supporting criminals without even realizing it. The writing in this was so good. And the chemistry between Moriarty and Sherlock 😚. My only criticism is that after reading the manga A LOT was left out that really fleshed out the stories and characters. Seriously hoping for another season but from that ending I really doubt we’ll get one.
7. Eight Six 86 5,000,000/5
I really want to kick myself in the behind for this one. I started this late last year and dropped it after the first episode. I really wasn’t feeling it. Maybe because mecha isn’t my favorite genre of anime but I wasn’t hooked so I put it aside and convinced myself that I would continue once the second season had been concluded; I didn’t. But a tiny voice at the back of my mind persuaded me to watch it and boy am I glad I did. The soundtrack was godly. Jesus Christ I don’t think I’d love a soundtrack more than AoT and Gintama but this won me over. The characters were all likable; expect the republicans of San magnolia, they can all rot in hell. It depicts a more realistic take on racism and war that your heart breaks for the soldiers especially knowing that most of them are children. Shin and Lena, two characters that never met face to face had so much chemistry that they could give a lot of Shojo animes a run for their money. I loved this series so much that I went on to read the novels. I might do a more in depth review on those later but seriously everyone needs to give this anime a chance.
8. Ranking of Kings 10,000/5
This is another series I almost ignored but thank goodness good sense prevailed and I gave it a chance. I was one of those who judged it because the artwork looked like classic cartoon drawings but my first indicator of this being a spectacular series was that it was being produced by Wit Studio. The character development in this one was amazing. What I loved about this series is that we couldn’t judge a character from first meeting them. Everyone had their reasons and stories for being the way they were. Boji is not your typical anime protagonist, with many disabilities that made the people of the kingdom judge him harshly, he definitely deserves best boy award and the world. Watching him at the beginning of the series had me crying in the middle of the night. Seriously he deserves everything. And queen Hilling is the MVP of the series; she took the clichéd step mother role and turned it on its back. If you haven’t given this one a try please do, you won’t regret it.
9. Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 2 5/5
There are no words to describe how much I enjoyed this season. Seriously, Mappa outdid themselves. I know a lot of people are upset that we have to wait for Part 3 but I actually prefer that they take their time to animate the ending because there’s still so much to cover. Also can we talk about how amazing the OST’s were this season. Like goddamn!
10. Parasyte: The Maxim 4/5
I really enjoyed this one. I did. Honestly. If you ask me why I feel so cheated with the ending I can’t tell you. I guess I expected a more of an all out war between Migi and the other parasytes but nope. Trust me I get it, the ending was the most reasonable but I still felt like something was missing. Maybe I need to rewatch. But story wise, it was great; the main character was very likable. Seeing him turn from a regular teenager to cold, emotionless and back to his self was enjoyable. Tbh I didn’t really like the female lead but I guess she grew on me in the last episode. Also, the opening and ost’s were giving me an eargasm.

My take on the Storm End's scene
So, when I first watched the Storm End's scene the first time, I was frustrated because why would the writers made Aemond killing Luke an accident ? It is clearly stated in the books that Aemond is a ruthless character with a vengeful nature. His ruthlessness is one of his appeals as an antagonist. So why would the writers took it away from him ?
Aemond never intented to kill Luke
However, after seeing the episode again, as well as reading others' analysis and discussion, I changed my mind. Making Luke's death an accident was actually a decision I could accept because it adds depth to Aemond's character. We have to remember that Aemond started as a soft boy who, after one injustice to another, became a person determined to find justice on his own way—no matter the cost & a how twisted his perception of "justice" can be (he plans to give Luke's eye to his mother, because his mother said it was a debt to collect). I believe that while he genuinely despised Luke, Aemond only wanted to torment him, to show that he holds all the power now. Making Luke cower in fear is the closest thing he could ever get to receiving justice for the lost of his eye. And that's what he did. He forced Luke to make a choice between his eye or his life, and chased him through the storm with the biggest dragon alive.
"The idea that we control dragon is an illusion."
Viserys said this in earlier episode (1 or 2, I think). Yes, it is stated that the bond between a dragon & its rider is a "magical" bond etc. We see this many times in the book & the show. This is where it gets tricky. I think that the "bond" they're talking about is more about the emotional bond as opposed the "we share the same brain now" bond. In the books, Vhagar roared when Aemond lost his eye. She will feel what he feels, and Aemond has been harbouring hate and anger towards Luke for a very long time. Thus, it's what Vhagar felt as well. And when Arrax disobeyed Luke & attacked her, it is only natural for Vhagar, a dragon, to chase its attacker and kill them. This will also have a toll on Aemond because Aemond, like many Targaryen, has been living under the illusion that he possess total control over Vhagar. But he doesn't.
What it means for Aemond's character (SPOILERS)
Aemond is a smart person. He knows what it meant by killing the Queen's son. Despite it is not officially him that started the war, he's the one who change the game into a war of fire and blood—and he has to live with that. Furthermore, nobody will ever believe him. He has witnesses claiming he tried to attack Luke—of course it wouldn't be a surprise that Aemond killed him as well. Kinslaying is a taboo for Westerosi; people will look down upon him. This will change the good relationship he has with his family: first, his mother, then his sister & brother after Blood & Cheese incident. His loss of control caused the death of his nephew and the reason why her sister went mad (remember, he has a soft spot for his sister). His guilt will eat him alive and combined with the pressure of war, he will break. And thus, he will became the ruthless antagonist we've seen in the books. He's getting the Jaime Lannister treatment—but instead of going from bad to good, Aemond will be the other way: a soft boy who has been corrupted by power and guilt so much that he became a ruthless war criminal (the version we saw in the books).
I just hope that the writers managed to provide us with consistent writing so we have a well-written corruption arc.

this season has been so interesting !!! i was a bit frustrated with the pacing at first but i think it works v well as explorations of the characters and their feelings and more than just a love story of wilhelm and simon! And it’s great for further seasons because it’s not resolving everything all at once! the pressure wilhelm feels to uphold his royal title while not wanting that life at all and the casual manipulation from his mother ALSO because she has been held to those same standards her whole life and sees no way out because abdication is Not how it happens and like..:everyone is just as stuck. and simon finally seeing wilhelm as subject to his situation and how simon changes everything for wilhelm like flipped his whole world view and how difficult that is ! yeah!!!!! anyway i am going crazy insane i have been biting my fist waiting for them to kiss. and finally. properly . they smooch. i can rest easy .
