Unrelated to Star Trek, but finally going in for endo related surgery!
Endometriosis is an extremely common condition (roughly 1 in 10 women), yet it is a woefully undiagnosed or understood medical condition that afflicts women.
Ladies: If your periods are impacting your quality of life, don't let any amount of "it's normal, all women go through that, you're just being dramatic" get in the way of you and your health care.
Take it from someone who got the hot potato treatment from health care professionals for 22 solid years of suffering and agony while not being taken seriously: YOU KNOW YOUR BODY. Trust it, love it, and advocate for it at all costs.
Women's health is understudied, underfunded, and so little of it is understood still today.
Please never settle for less than the life you deserve, and listen to your body when it tells you something is up or has to change.❤️
Much love, LLAP!

Janet Elizabeth Macgregor was born on January 12th 1920 in Glasgow.
Not a name the vast majority of you will know, but I love finding the unsung heroes, and Jane Macgregor is certainly in that category, her work has definately helped save countless women's lives.
Born as Janet Elizabeth McPherson in Glasgow, Betty, as she became known was just 7 when her mother died from tuberculosis. Betty attended school at Bearsden Academy, going on to study medicine at the University of Glasgow during the Second World War, graduating in 1943. It was there she met Alastair Macgregor and they married a year later. She did her house jobs at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and Western General Hospital.
During the next few years she raised their four children and worked part time in child welfare clinics. In 1958 Alastair was appointed to the regius chair of materia medica and therapeutics at Aberdeen University. Betty became a research assistant in the department of obstetrics and gynaecology, run by Sir Dugald Baird, regius professor of midwifery, who was famed for his compassion and social awareness.
It was in 1960 that it was decided to embark on a schedule of cervical testing for the entire area, Dugald Baird, inspired Macgregor to research the origins of cervical cancer and to concentrate especially on all the women - and in particular disadvantaged women - of the north-east.
Macgregor brought to the project a dedication, determination and considerable medical skills that ensured her programme worked efficiently. Diplomacy was also required, as all the GPs had to be written to (often repeatedly) in Aberdeenshire to obtain their approval so that smear testing could commence. Macgregor created a comprehensive call-and-recall system that broke new ground with its findings.
It was done so expertly under her supervision over the first five years there was such a decrease in the cervical cancer in the area and she had comprehensively proved her case. Betty was a superb cytologist and it has been commented, "the most delightful person. Without a doubt, she saved many lives."
It was not a period when priority was given to such a lengthy and complex medical programme: politicians had other demands on public funds. It was the way Macgregor organised the tests that brought the programme so much renown. Everything was meticulously documented and recorded with great care and attention. After five years she had assembled such powerful scientific evidence that other health authorities throughout the UK immediately adopted her system.
Her work brought Macgregor much esteem within the medical profession. She was much honoured by several of the Royal Societies and was a most distinguished president of her own medical association from 1980-83. During that presidency of the British Society of Clinical Cytology (BSCC), she published a book about improving the smear-test programmes nationally. It became a medical best-seller and sold 15,000 copies in its first edition and 10,000 in its second.
A memorable evening was held in 1985 whenBetty retired from Aberdeen University.
But this most active lady did not slip gently into retirement. She had bought a house on the Isle of Seil, off the coast at Oban, but Prof Templeton suggested she join a Birthright Programme he was initiating at the university. It was to research into pre-cervical care and patients who had slightly abnormal smear tests. "Betty accepted immediately and was as focused and enthusiastic as ever," he said. "She bought a house back in Aberdeen and did three days a week here and then travelled back to the west coast.
Macgregor wrote several medical books and was a regular contributor to the British Medical Journal. She was awarded the OBE in 1984/
It wasn't all work fior this dedicatec lady, Macgregor was devoted to her family and enjoyed taking her grandchildren sailing around Seil. She had her own yacht and loved the spectacular scenery of the west coast.
Betty Macgregor developed Alzheimer’s disease and died of cerebrovascular disease on 8th October 2005 at the Lynn of Lorne Nursing Home, Benderloch, near Oban.

14 states have already banned abortion, and more restrictions are on the way. Here are a few of the latest GOP proposals:
⚫ A 12-week abortion ban in Nebraska
⚫ A 6-week ban (because GOP attempts at a full ban failed three times) in South Carolina
⚫ A bill that charges abortion patients with MURDER in Alabama
We HAVE to fight back.
Our state-level mobilizations *are working.* We helped elect a pro-choice state Supreme Court justice in WI and brought national attention to the abortion pill case that started in TX. But we CANNOT stop now.
TY! -Women's March
SIGN ON: TELL THE COURTS TO STAY OUT OF FDA APPROVAL OF ABORTION MEDICATION Medication abortion is safe and effective, and it should be readily available everywhere. Add your name right now to DEMAND the courts stay out of FDA approvals >>>
SIGN ON: TELL THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM TO STAY OUT OF FOOD & DRUG ADMINISTRATION APPROVALS! A Trump-appointed judge may strike down the FDA’s approval of a critical abortion medication later this month. The ruling would set a dangerous precedent that radical right-wingers can challenge the approval of ANY medication they don’t approve of — like the birth control pill or emergency contraception (aka Plan B). We need you to take action to tell the courts to stay OUT of FDA approvals!
ATTN: SOUTH CAROLINA LEGISLATIVE REPUBLICANS Check out our letter to the South Carolina GOP below, then sign it as is or add your own spin:
Make your voice heard
As you well know, abortion bans will not end abortion. Instead, you propose penalties so extreme – so draconian – that they will terrify women into compliance. Your goal was never to “protect life.” It is to control our bodies. You should know: We won’t go back. We’ll fight back. I’m signing this letter to voice my ongoing commitment to opposing any rollback of our human right to reproductive freedom.
ATTN: RON DESANTIS, FLORIDA REPUBLICANS, & THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION Sign our open letter condemning the Don’t Say Gay law in Florida! Make your voice heard The cruel “Don’t Say Gay” law is harming Florida students, teachers, and families. Instead of expanding it, you should be repealing this attack on LGBTQ+ Floridians! Despite your fear and hate-mongering, LGBTQ+ people — including kids — always have existed and always will. We will keep fighting for them to be treated with the respect and dignity they deserve. We know that more of us are in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community than agree with your regressive and cruel legislation. Women’s Marchers and our allies WON’T stop fighting for a world where all of us can be safe as our authentic selves. We WON’T let your hateful legislation stop us from supporting LGBTQ+ Floridians, and we condemn the “Don’t Say Gay” law.
ADD YOUR NAME TO OUR DEMANDS TO PROTECT REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH CARE ACCESS! We demand reform of our broken judicial system. We demand that state and local leaders defend access to mifepristone despite this illegitimate ruling. We demand the FDA issue guidance to disregard the decision. We demand the Biden administration implement a whole-of-government response to this public health crisis. We demand pharmacies execute their mandate faithfully and with the health of their patients rather than the personal ideologies of a few politicians in mind. Sign on to sponsor our demands >>>
REMOVE CLARENCE THOMAS FROM THE SUPREME COURT Congress must impeach Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas now! Justice Clarence Thomas has violated his oath and broken the law by failing to disclose decades of luxury vacations and private jet travel from billionaire and GOP megadonor Harlan Crow. Crow also paid the private school tuition for a Thomas family member. Sign our petition, stating loud and clear: No one is above the law, and Justice Thomas must be held accountable and removed from his position of power.

Women's healthcare is such a joke. You know what's wrong but since you're a woman you're never taken seriously. And they want to force you to carry a pregnancy and keep your period gone with birth control. The problem isn't my period. The problem is that you don't listen to me. No one knows my body better than me.

I'm about to tmi complain so if that's not your vibe, advert your eyes.
I can't catch a break. It's little things in the grand scheme of it all, but let me have my lil mental break down. First not little thing-- I get blood clots in my lungs from my birth control pills at 30 years old. I am on blood thinners for a year, and I can no longer take said birth control pills so I decide to get an IUD because I don't want to risk pregnancy. I rate the insertion pain 6/10 only because after sitting around with blood clots in my lungs for 6 days, that was the worst pain I have yet to experience in my life. With the IUD, I literally have cramps every day for 6 months straight (the suggested "acclimation" period), live with a heating pad attached to me. Not only that, but I develop cystic acne. A big hit to my self-esteem; I feel 15 all over again desperate for reprive when I was first prescribed the pill to treat my resistant acne. Tell my partner I don't know if I can do this if it all doesn't get better. IUD cramps begin to improve with time, and I'm prescribed a diuretic for the acne. Acne improves, too. Now my stomach hates the diuretic and today, I learn I have two cavities, likely from dry mouth via diuretic (I am a teeth freak, brush twice a day and water floss, every single day). Like when does it stop???

Today I watched hearts break on tik tok. It's daily now. Mississippi wants to bring back Jim Crow, Hipaa laws are under attack under the guise of abortion bans, transgender people are being exterminated. One minority at a time, existing is becoming illegal in the USA. Have you seen how our prison system operates as legal slavery? Just look it up. All of these things and more have been in motion since last century. Hell, half of it is unredacted and available to read on the CIA's official website. But people will keep turning away. Here is why and how:
It's happening because they're doing it accross the board. Nobody said anything when human rights were violated at the border, children stolen from their parents and adopted out to white families. No one has done anything as we reach stage seven of tetering on eight on the genocide of transgender people. Reproductive rights, repealing hipaa laws. That's what banning abortion is. It says "privacy in your medical decisions is no longer legal precedent." That's means all of women's Healthcare, all non white Healthcare, all queer people. It's been happening for so long and people have been shouting and blowing the whistle since 2001 when people cried our "they will use this to step by step take away our freedoms one by one" and they started right then and there. National security was used to overturn just enough for the rest of the dominos to fall.
*while scientists have to take to the streets because nobody will read the science on global climate change and how little time we have to save the human race and society as we know it. They're being ignored because the climate apocalypse gives unprecedented power to those prepared for it. Privatization of water, anyone?*
But nobody wants to hear about it because they can scroll, hit refresh, and forget.
That is the most concise way I can summarize a minimum of TWENTY reports by The UN Human Rights Commission since then. Most of these reports are less than ten pages, and many are only five plus citations. Nobody has been listening. Snowden. Assange. They proved that anyone who dared to stir the pot would be persecuted to the extent of being chased around the globe, their constitutional rights denied. Journalists, AMERICAN journalists are dying in drone bombings and snipers all over the world.
Endless war, worldwide alliances, nuclear bombs... from Palestine to Tigray and every other democratic nation overthrown by the USA or a puppet state.
It's connected and always has been.
