I decided to do something for myself and get this NES notebook. A simple act of self care, but I needed something to remind me of a time when I wasn’t getting dragged by life. This notebook also inspires me to write tunes that tap into my core imagination; something I’ve lost sight of in the last year due to various obstacles. My current track listing for this new album is depressing, and this notepad is helping me break free from these clouds that have consumed my soul. I can't even begin to express the amount of PTSD I felt watching this video!! This is as accurate to a toxic relationship as it gets, and I've been 'that' dude on too many days. Handcuffed by the gynocentric entitlements of an emotional tirade of a woman, and having to just 'deal with it'...just to be lured back into the web of the black widow once more. The moment I started to outline and assess my own values from within, I no longer had to put up with being treated as a 'tool' or 'emotional punching bag'. I didn't have to spaz out or react to the madness; I just simply walked away, or kept my distance. This dude is being treated like a sad puppy that pooped on the carpet, chewed up her shoes, and knocked over her collection of Pineapple Ciroc! I will never in my existence return to this type of situation, and in order for me to overcome it, I had to step completely away from all things/people/places associated with it, as well as refuse any line of communication with the problem. I had my own toxic behaviors I had to absolve, but I realized that those behaviors were acts of rebellion towards the situation I could not control. Once I got away, those feelings, thoughts, and actions went completely away. The energy you entertain has a certain impact on how we conduct ourselves. This could certainly be a vice-versa scenario also (as far as genders), but I only speak from my own perspective as a male who has dealt with this...and seen dudes treated like this, in public, far too often. If you're a woman who feels compelled to do this, or a dude who feels he has to 'take this', just leave. In light of my recent breakup, there have been some ‘Trump-level’ lies being tossed out here from the other side, which I shrug off. However, once I start to get hostile messages out the blue from her people on the other side with a ‘threatening’ tone, they are involving themselves with something that needs not concern them. Breakups are never fun, especially when it’s between two musicians in the same city. I realize that being a black male (especially in this climate) can make me a target for accusations that are baseless and out of context, and the devil stays working overtime to decimate people of purpose, passion, and vision. I’m in no mood or place to engage the other side whatsoever. I realized in a week that I have a lot more to live for than harboring animosity towards the situation. In retrospect, this entire ordeal was an inverted blessing in disguise, because it revealed to me the true nature of the situation, and [the person] will say all types of things to deflect accountability or fault on their end. This is gonna be a verbose post of sorts, so proceed with caution. @CecyMakesMusic and I have been in a romantic tug-of-war for about 4 years, and which each passing year, the emotional stress grows more chronic. When things are good, they’re great…but when they’re bad, it’s worst than an episode of “Big Bang Theory”. The emotional complexity has played out like some Spanish Soap Opera on BET, but the blessing in disguise is that Cecy (inadvertently) helped me analyze my own values and behaviors in regards to ‘happiness’ and ‘relationships’. In my time apart, I realized that Happiness is shared, and not the responsibility of one (or the other) to create for two people. Also, a relationship is a ‘choice’, and not an ‘obligation’. I made a choice to endure the slings and arrows of it, but now…I feel different about the concept of a relationship, especially if the happiness varies constantly. The last 2 months for me have been nothing short of a revival for my soul, as I've been able to evaluate myself in the aftermath of these situationships. I have found refuge in Tumblr. This is a social media that many do not account for in the mainstream scene of day-to-day techno-fish bowls. I have taken a break from Instagram, and continue to use Twitter and Snapchat daily. Already, there is a difference in my ability to function much better. Productivity is improved, and my quality of thinking is revived. There’s something about having to like photos and construct hashtags that really just impaled my level of attentiveness.

Anyhow, lots of interesting things are happening in my life. I’m blessed to still be in-demand as a freelance musician, as well as being a contributing artists for video content at Reverb.com!

Often, I find that much of the happiness we seek is already surrounding us. I won’t say too much here, but for the mighty few that know understand the language: “Kah angre j’mé torkah”.
