Ok I am in rant mode again, sorry, this blog just happens to be a place where I dump all my thoughts negative and positive both, unfortunately for all who follow me. But I have seen some bad and incorrect takes from anti darkling/darklinas. So here’s just a few things I want to say.
Firstly LB has never stated that she based the darkling on her ab*sive ex. This is misinformation that was spread by antis. The only thing she has ever said about an ab*sive relationship was that she wrote the first book, Shadow and Bone, at a dark time in her life right after she had got out of a bad relationship. She has said in the past that the darkling was inspired by every bad boy she’s had a crush on in fiction including david bowie’s the goblin king.
So it seems from these comments like the character was supposed to emulate those types of characters that woman find attractive, the ones you would fall for.
I’ve also seen the argument that LB clearly wrote the darkling as a villain, well LB might disagree with you there as she herself has said on multiple occasions that she doesn’t write villains:
LB says that the darkling believes he is doing the right thing and that ‘you can make a case for most of the choices he makes, even the despicable ones.’ So if LB says that she doesn’t write villains and that you can make a case for his actions you can’t really blame darkling fans for doing the same.
The truth is LB promoted the heck out of both the darkling and darklina (or as it was known back then Darlina and Alarkling) when she was writing the og trilogy, even admitting to ‘fanning the flames’ when talking about people shipping m*lina and darklina and was clearly encouraging the shipping of both ships:

It was only post the release of book three that she changed her tune, likely because of all the backlash she got about the ending of the books. So no LB wasn’t always against fans shipping darklina or liking the darkling. All of this information is easily found with a simple google search, I wasn’t even in the fandom back then being a show watcher first and yet I was still able to learn all of this with minimal difficulty.
Which brings me to the whole darklina being an allegory for a older man manipulating a younger girl and how the darklina fans ‘missed this’. Well if they did miss it then it was for a very good reason, but the truth is darklina’s didn’t miss it, we just didn’t think it made sense within the narrative, the darklina fandom have talked about it, myself included, in fact I’ve already posted a whole pretty much essay on the topic. But let me explain why some people may have ‘missed it’ and why it doesn’t work in the story or with darklina as the allegory. The first is because LB chose to use an immortal/immortal couple for this allegory. The thing with immortality in fiction, especially as love interests, is it makes age pretty much meaningless. The whole point of immortals is that they are ageless. Immortal ships have always been accepted within fiction and this whole age gap issue has never come up before. Nobody was going omg but the age gap yuck with Bella and Edward when twilight came out, or when Magnus and Alec got together in Shadowhunters or with any of the ships in Vampire Diaries. Yet now anti’s are trying to use the argument that the darkling is 100s of years older than Alina and that’s creepy all of a sudden. Sorry but not in my book, an immortal is always going to be significantly older than anyone else what’s the alternative they spend eternity alone, never knowing love? At least with darklina they are both immortal. Another reason why it doesn’t work is because of how the darkling is described in the book, he is said to not look much older than Alina, so in the books he looks like a teenager. So of course people weren’t going to pick up on the older guy/younger girl allegory because the darkling isn’t presented in the books as an older guy. He’s described the same way every other immortal being in every YA book at that time was. It’s also worth noting that I am not sure if LB ever actually said that darklina were supposed to represent a older guy with a younger girl or whether that was something the fandom came up with. I’m not saying she didn’t just that I myself have never seen a direct quote from her that I recall and I wasn’t able to find one. I think the first time I heard of it was when someone sent me an ask about the topic. I know that she has said it was meant to serve as a warning of attractive and charismatic men being able to manipulate young girls but I don’t know that she herself has ever talked about an age gap or specifically mentioned older men?
Another thing that I have been seeing alot of are comments like darkling/darklina fans only like him because he is hot. What bothers me about this is firstly even if that were true and the only reason people liked him was because he is hot, so what? There’s nothing wrong with that, its fiction and fiction is used to escape for a bit, its for enjoyment and entertainment, so if that enjoyment and entertainment comes in the form of staring at the hot guy irregardless of whether they are the hero or villain, let them be. Why are you criticising the way someone enjoys fiction? Sometimes a gal just wants to look at the hot guy. Secondly its just a really irrelevant argument because the darkling is not the only hot, charismatic character in the books or show. M*l is also described as being attractive and charismatic with no shortage of friends and girls, Nikolai is another character that fits that description, so by this argument the only reason M*l fans like him is because he is hot, and the only reason Nikolai fans like him is because he is hot. Thirdly its just plainly not true, whilst I am sure there may be some fans who only like him because he is hot, again nothing wrong with that, most fans like him for a variety of different reasons because he is an interesting and complicated character. As someone who spends a fair bit of time in the darkling/darklina tags the most common reason I have seen for fans liking him is because of his dedication to the grisha, his willingness to fight for the grisha something that he has dedicated 100′s of years of his life too. Personally I like Aleksander/the darkling because he has a sympathetic backstory, because he is fighting for the grisha and when seeing that they had no place to go where they could be free from fear he vowed to make them a safe place, a sanctuary, of course I am going to root for that goal too. I like him because he is complicated and complex and despite being an immortal being who has become deeply effected by past traumas there is still something beautifully human about him, particularly in the show. I also like the connection he has with Alina, the whole yin/yang of it and them being each others balance. I love the complexity and angst of them having this deep connection and pull to each other but also having this anger and sense of betrayal, how they have to try and navigate around having different points of view and seeing the world in a different ways, it makes for a very compelling story and their chemistry in the show is electric. The fact that he is hot is merely a bonus, but even if he wasn’t a conventionally attractive person I would still like his character because of those complexities, because of that connection he has with Alina. But one thing this rant has done is make me curious as to what my other fellow darkling/darklina fans like about the darkling? What drew you to the character? Anyway that’s enough ranting for one day, again my apologies, I am going to go and rewatch season 1 of shadow and bone in preparation for season 2′s release tomorrow...sheepishly shuffles off my soapbox, waving awkwardly.

I feel like I’m going insane can you explain how the post keeps changing? Please and thank you 🙏
Yeah, so the history of the omnipost is that I made a post in 2022, then I reblog it. There is no special mechanic unavailable to anybody else, and this reflects intended behavior of tumblr, as far as I can tell. A reblog saves a version of the post that can then be passed around. ( The first version, or thread 0, described the concept.* )
The original post can then be edited. If it is reblogged, the most recent iteration is then saved. I label each version with a thread number which increases sequentially from 0 to 1 to 2 and so on. You may see a letter appended onto this number. That denotes that I'm responding to a new person or set of people within the same thread. This increases from a to b to c and so on. at z it will continue to aa, though that would be a lot of people on one discussion so isn't likely to occur.
Due to this process, if you click through to the original post, you will see the most recent iteration, which is labeled with the tag #the seed from which all springs... or something, not like I'm gonna check. This is not the first version, despite what some people have assumed.
*Unlike what some people keep accusing me of, this was not cannibalized from a prior popular post, it was built from ground up
You may ask yourself why I am making a new post to respond to this ask and not putting it on the omnipost. I do this for a couple of reasons. One, it is cleaner. I would have to take a screenshot and then put it on the omnipost, then tag the person who sent it. This is functional, but a pain in the ass, since I have storage scopes on my phone and that is my primary platform. Also I'd have to manually delete the asks as i responded to them.
I also reblog other peoples' post with commentary on this blog, and I think that that fits in with it. ( without commentary goes to fogreblogsv2 which i think is shadow banned? notes didn't appear when i reblogged and it got axed without warning a couple of times already. but that's out it scope for this discussion )
In short, if I never have to hit the new post button, then I'm golden. That means that I can't take advantage of some new post editor features. For example, my pinned post can only accept 10 pics per reblog instead of the 30 for new ones. Also to add an embedded video into a reblog its a pain in the ass thing you have to do on desktop. It is probably possible with APIs but that's even worse. So I haven't been messing around with video posts too much.

To be honest, I love both the original version and this cover from MSP. The cover just holds double the meaning. It is both part of TinnGun’s story – their first meeting, their beginning, the reason why Tinn fell for Gun and why they fit together now – and PuenTalay's story in their own universe. It connects these two universes too, and that is why I’m so fond of it. Also, Gemini and Fourth make this song sound even softer than it already is. (My other favorites from MSP ost are Healing, Let Me Tell You, and the cover of Just Being Friendly, tho the whole soundtrack is just phenomenal.)
II. ใครคลั่งรักกว่ากัน (Madly in Love) - Jimmy Jitaraphol and Sea Tawinan
Our Skyy 2 x Vice Versa OST
This song is so very PuenTalay but also so JimmySea. It’s extremely soft, romantic, a little playful, cute, and just loving all the way around. It compliments both of their voices and styles, and just makes me super happy. The lyrics are nice too. My favorite part is the one where Jimmy changes the way he sounds in the chorus (Idk what to call it sorry). It’s towards the end of the song. It’s just super cool somehow and very addicting.
III. คลาด (Over the Moon) - Khaotung Thanawat
The Eclipse OST
Absolutely obsessed with this song. One of the best theme songs a BL has ever had, hands down. Truly lived up to the hype I got from hearing this song in the mock up trailer. I love Khaotung’s voice, the visuals in the MV, the lyrics, the instrumental. Overall just a perfect song for me specifically. (To be fair, The Eclipse has had two of my favorite soundtracks with this and their Our Skyy 2 song. Instant hits, no question.)
IV. ก่อน - Pchy
Dew The Movie OST
I don’t think any other piece of media has ever made me feel the way Dew The Movie does. It was, and still is, simply everything to me. And this song. This song. I cannot put into words how perfect, how wonderful, how special this song is. I cry every time I hear it because it’s just so fully packed with all these feelings I cannot describe. I love it. I love it so much. And for the love of god, if you haven’t watched this movie, go do it right now.
V. ร้อยล้านวิว (Million views) - Stamp
Last Twilight Pilot Trailer
I don’t know how well this song fits the criteria for this game but I found this lovely thing bc of the Last Twilight trailer and now I cannot get rid of it. It’s been on my playlist ever since this trailer dropped in November and not a day goes by that I don’t listen to it. It’s just so good and always brings me back to these moments. I keep hoping they would keep this song in the show itself or that they will get an OST that sounds similar, instrumental and lyrical wise. Bc my god did this song hit again once I stopped being lazy and looked up a translation for the lyrics. Now I’m crying even more bc of it thanks.
Bonus: พระเอกจำลอง by Getsunova from the Theory of Love OST. One of my eternal favorites. This song just is the show.
Special mentions: These are western songs so I didn’t want to include them to the list itself but I have to mention that Blueming brought me back to sød ven’s music bc they used the song hollow for the show (the beach scenes to be specific). Here's two-
Geralt and Jaskier are so in love with each other, even platonically. They don't want to admit it, but they have a really warm and cozy love bubble around them and both are afraid that if they speak about it, it'll make them feel less giddy and elated and pull this bubble into reality, making it vulnerable to being popped by evil forces.
Jace's nonchalant attitude re: the people he bangs and his unflinching love for Alec always made me think he is an in denial asexual - he is obviously not sex-repulsed but he wields sex like a weapon or like a quick fix to avoid looking at deeper emotions affecting him. I fucking love Jace to death, he gets so little credit.

The only way around it is through it. It helps to do various other creative things, it will recharge your creativity in the realm you feel it's low in. Like if you have writer's block, make some art. God I used to lie more often than I breathed when I was a kid and a teen. Lately I just lie to get out of having to socialise.

I find stanning a K-Pop group to be 20% fun and 80% disheartening if you're older because you definitely feel like you can't sit with the cool kids and everything is just a really good, hi-def illusion set up to make you bust your wallet wide open, so every moment of genuine relatability and connection is invalidated by the feeling that these people are part of a marketing strategy. It's kind of like going to see strippers and even if you like one, you know that even if you fell in love with them, you're not allowed to get to know them because for them it's just work and you are only worth the cash you pay in their eyes. The closeness is an illusion that leaves you feeling even lonelier and sadder than you were before.

There are a lot of them but my core reference is Anne Rice's writing. Now I am writing something that was inspired by the portrayal of Jack Reacher in the "Reacher" series on Amazon.

It would be nice if I could write stuff that's relatable to others, not just to me. But that would mean biiiiiiiig consciousness shift and I'm extremely pussilanimous when it comes to this.

I think the delivery matters a lot - a surprise is being told something that you don't know yet, and if the person breaking the news makes it seem like a heart attack from shock is the adequate response, then better don't tell me, just show me.

This is so surreal - Chan is a human with two sets of ears and the rest of the members are tiny wee animals - and the love, goofiness and fun are so well captured. This artist also depicts Chan as shy and cute, and I prefer this to the hard dom or arrogant inaccessible guy takes I see more often. Like I get it's appealing to others but I like a squeaky, shy guy better than any alpha dude character.

poor characterization on a macro level
crass and goofy consistent misspelling like "nobbing" instead of "nodding", "viscous" instead of "vicious", "colon" instead of "cologne"

This post is no longer my active intro and I've removed it from my pinned post because I don't update it anymore; I now have a full page on my blog for it rather than a post
Hi, let’s get this out of the way, I hate sideblogs/love discordance so I put EVERYTHING on this one blog, so it’s not just a writeblr, and tbh I’ll probably still post primarily other stuff (not to worry, everyone who’s already here). This is also an over 3 years old blog with an established presence in other communities, so to those followings, you can just ignore this. But since this blog is for everything I like, I want to talk about my little stories :> And I’ve been saying I was going to do this since forever ago. The goal is honestly to get me to actually sit down and write more.
I write all kinds of works, most of the writing you’ll see on here will be poetry which I’ve already been posting for a while but I am also joining writeblr so I can talk about my short story and novel WIPs and maintain tags for my characters. I apparently write a lot about inhumanity. When I write longform fiction I like to have a grand scope and high stakes and maximalism with the sheer number and diversity of themes and tones. When I write shortform fiction I like to have something be as fucked up and horrible as possible. When I write poetry I like to let my rage and grief possess my body like a dybbuk.

Through a series of increasingly ridiculous circumstances, a completely normal house centipede becomes God.
Genre: I’ve just been describing it as “earnest comedy.” In a lowkey fantasy setting that becomes more sci fi later on. Not an allegory, just having fun with it while still trying to make something that means something and has serious moments. Not a satire because I genuinely think this concept would be fun to read straightforwardly if I managed to pull it off.
Themes: immortality, humanity, inhumanity, sapience, identity, eternity/infinity, yes I said it was a comedy, it also so far seems like it’s going to be so full to the brim with serious, genuine themes that it will overflow.
The Enormity of the World’s Grief (#wip: world's grief, working title)
I can’t say much about this one right now because once it’s written it will definitely be the most personal thing I’ve ever made. You’ll just have to see.

Middle grade series. Explores the world of bugs and other tiny creatures on a post-Holocene extinction Earth where all animals larger than rodents and birds have been wiped out. Because why is there no children’s talking animal series about bugs. Be the change you want to see in the world, right?
Genre: old-school heroic fantasy.
Inspirations: The Secret of NIMH, Mouse Guard, Stray, Ladislas Starevich’s silent films, Hollow Knight.

untitled (I SERIOUSLY need to start giving these working titles at least)
Probably a webcomic eventually, currently untitled, but the premise is: in a future Earth society, as part of a push for a new wave of technology, an experiment volunteer is sent to a parallel world to test dimensional travel, with no one knowing where he'll end up. The main problem is that the Earth he ends up on is 200 years in the past... and also experienced an alternate prehistory that diverged in the Carboniferous and saw arthropods, instead of amniotes, grow to human sizes and civilization-building intelligence, with vertebrates filling the niches that bugs do on our (and the protagonist's) Earth. Written history however played out exactly the same, and the population that inhabits this Earth speaks contemporary languages like English and views and labels themselves as human beings. To see out his mission the protagonist has to enlist the assistance of a very passionate entomologist, the only person both willing and able to make an effort to understand the protagonist's expressions of emotion and mannerisms even despite a common language. He may find, however, that said mission is not what he wants to pursue.

Unterrene (working title)
On February 29th, 2020, the world exploded. Metaphysically speaking.
[Kind of a... half-comic, half-written text, half-Other "idea" I've had where the premise is that there is a sudden cataclysm that causes Everything to become real -- magic, time travel, timelines, alternate realities, cryptids, ghosts, monsters and shapeshifters, demons and angels and fae, all of the rules of every fantasy and sci fi story suddenly become real... the only hard rule of physical reality left is that it's impossible time travel to before 29/02/2020. And basically what this does is gives me a wastebasket story where I am allowed to dump all of the cool ideas I have that wouldn't fit anywhere else and continue to have a fun thing to work on no matter what because this is not a story with an ending -- BUT it is also a real, genuine story on its own... Unterrene is essentially my playground. Sandbox universe where I can do fun stuff and try not to get too attached to the characters.

I have officially watched all of rosado's supports and some of them in Japanese, and it is incredible how they just didn't translate some parts? I need a transcript to confirm, but I'm pretty sure rosado uses 中性 to describe his townsfolk... that means gender neutral, literally the kanji for medium/middle + sex/gender
he also specifically mentions cutesy men and cool women, confirming people from his village are not just cute but in general showcase different types of beauty, regardless of gender (and yes! he also says the "regardless of gender" part in Japanese too! I love him sm)
there's also the first support with louis which I think is really funny because the ENGLISH VERSION JUST REMOVED TJE PART WITH "EVEN THOUGH I'M A BOY????" LMFAO
I imagine because they thought it was offensive or something? but I think it makes sense, fogado said to celine the firenese appear unsociable and closed off to those from other lands, closed off being the key word here

Why do people take already existing character/themselves and give them autism adhd dyslexia Tourette’s And DID
IMPORTANT EDIT:
I did shit at explaining myself and i come off as a ableist asshat so I’m going to try to explain myself. I feel like just because you like a character doesn’t mean you should give them a disorder as a headcanon even if you have a disorder it just sits with me wrong. I don’t want to gate-keep or attack people I just see disorders get turned into a way to make the character more pitiful in writing all the time. And because I tend to view characters more like real people it’s like watching someone fake the disorder. I’m sorry I came off like that and the comments do have a point my view does sound atrocious looking back I deeply apologize to anyone who needs it I am replacing my terrible jackass take with this sincere apology again I came off like a absolute ass hat please forgive me it’s okay if you headcanon that it’s just posts like “he’s so adhd😍” or “she has autism you can not convince me otherwise” just make me upset as I have diagnosed adhd and it has ruined my mental and physical health and seeing it as a quirky trait upsets me again I deeply apologize I’m so fucking sorry that I came off like this I would apologize to everyone personally in the replies but I don’t know how so please take this apology I am going to keep the first part of the post but not the rest as the beginning was fine to me but I went on a angry rant about how a decent amount of the writing I’ve read made those disorders a way to victimize and make the character more pitiful again I am sorry I didn’t describe it well. Until I hit up @iminthisstanshit I couldn't write a single word. It was so so hard for me to start and FINALLY in March or April, I found the best writting buddy and started from there :) I was in a writer's block for SO LONG UGH!
10. A scene or character you wrote that surprised you:
Maybe that changing room scene in MH. Simply because I have always wanted to write changing room sex, especially with a mirror so it turned out nicely.

UMMMMMMM, alright... I'm gonna go with DDD since I was pretty clever for coming up with this:
“Hungry for knot?”
The alpha’s voice suited his image so well. The deep, borderline sensual octave made Louis shiver. It was laced with timbre and Louis couldn’t remember the last time someone had spoken with a voice like this to him. But wait… Did the alpha just ask him if he was “hungry for knot”?
“Excuse me?” The omega could feel a hot flush underneath his skin. Surely, he was imagining things as he continued to gape wordlessly at the stranger.
The alpha raised a brown paper bag emblazoned with the Burger King logo up to Louis’ eye level. “Says here, I have a delivery for HungryForKnot?” Green, green, green. Startling mossy, earthy grass, iridescent summer green. The beautiful green seemed to be sparkling as they locked with baby blues.
“Are you not HungryForKnot?” The alpha’s tone was definitely teasing now.
“I most certainly am not!” Louis spluttered. His cheeks were positively burning. He had to grip his doorframe to steady himself or else he might keel over in embarrassment.
“Oh.” The alpha lowered the bag, plump lips forming a slight pout. “Then I guess I got the wrong house?” He tilted his head adorably.
12. How did you grow as a writer this year:
DAMN where should I start? First of all, I discovered omega H and now all I wanna write is omega H to the point that I don't read any bottom Lou fics unless they are recced or from my mutuals... There you go, the BIGGEST change. Bottom H is so powerful.
13. How do you hope to grow next year:
Delve into bottom H and be good at it.
14. Who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta or cheerleader or muse etc etc):
All the people in my dms :)

9. in an ideal world where you’re already super successful and published, would you want to see a tv or movie adaptation of your work? why or why not?
is it obvious to say i’d love to see a good adaption? my grasp on visual media has always been pretty weak so i would love to see people who are practiced at tv or movies work with my stories and transform them!
10. at what point in the process do you come up with titles, and how easy or hard is that for you?
i come up with titles five minutes before i post on ao3. i don’t really care about them, even though i probably should? it’s usually just a quick scroll through my quotations tag on tumblr or i look up the lyrics to one of three songs i can think of at any given moment and try to find something with matching vibes
13. talk about a writing experience that has pleasantly surprised you.
my nier automata fic will always hold a soft spot in my heart - they were the first fics i wrote after all but vanishing from fandom for five years and it felt so good to write again. and despite being a small fandom and releasing the fics a year after the game came out, i got so many lovely comments and asks 💕
19. what are some books or authors that influenced your style the most?
hemingway is an old touchstone from high school and i am still always thinking about omission when i write. the raven tower by ann leckie is a more recent book that i loved and wish i’d written!
20. what is your favorite trope to write?
does “this is five scenes dressed in a trenchcoat pretending to be a story” count as a trope, because that sure is my favourite way to write 😂 i find it satisfying and easy to fill out a fic around a frame like that - it’s definitely part of why i struggle to write anything longer and properly plotted!
22. describe your writing process from scratch to finish.
get an idea, brain dump as much of it as i can (often to someone else but it does always end up) into the ideas bin, and then i pick it up again when i want to commit. i tend to write beginning to end, and i’m a big believer in putting words on page even if they’re not good. i edit. then i fight my inner demons and hopefully post it on ao3 in the following couple of weeks
25. what’s your revision or rewriting process like?
i edit as i go because my first efforts on page are usually just word vomit. i write - edit what i wrote a few days ago - write - rinse and repeat. inevitably somewhere 60-80% of the way through a fic i start wondering wtf i’m doing, so at this point i stop and think and usually write a lot of notes, and when i’m satisfied with my thinking i write the rest of the fic
after a complete draft, i try to leave it untouched for a few days. then i come back with my notes and fully edit - cutting away unnecessary wordiness and adding all the clarifying or unifying details that bring a piece together. i think of this part as weaving/braiding together the through lines of the story, and it is one of my favourite parts of writing :) then i let it sit for a few more days, do one last read for typos, etc. and call it done!

“They weren’t born… A mortal?”
A light wind brushed over your features, causing you to give a small sigh and roll over onto your side in an attempt to block the light from hitting your lidded eyes. It was nice and quiet for once…
“(Y/n)?” A distorted voice echoed softly, causing you to flinch a bit. You opened your eyes slightly to see a silky blackbird sitting on the sheets beside you, a few golden trinkets laying beside it. Upon seeing your eyes slide open, the creature hopped up onto its legs and began making soft cooing noises, “(Y/n)! (Y/n), you’re awake!”
Glancing around at the surroundings you had been placed in, racking your mind for any sort of familiarity but failing to come up with anything at all, even who you were. You sat up, slowly brushing your fingers along your ombre silk clothing before putting your hands on the sheets below your body, frowning as you didn’t recognize the bed as yours.
“Hello…” You murmured softly, reaching your hand out to the crow who eagerly jumped forward to nuzzle your hand. The feathers of the bird felt… Odd. They felt more like grabbing at misty fog, but with a light staticky cotton texture that caused a buzzing sensation on your fingertips, “I’m sorry, my memory… Seems to be a tad faulty… Could you tell me your name?”
“I’m Chat, Dadza- er… Philza’s familiar! I was a gift from Mumza, oops... Kristen, the Goddess of Void and Death.” It chirped, its voice having multiple layers in your head, causing you to shake your head a slight bit, “No, they’re not married, only parental figures to the souls that pass on to the afterlife or those they saved sometime before they passed on… I believe they have more of a co-worker relationship.”
You nodded slightly, pursing your lips at how the creature’s voice sounded in your mind. It was unsettling and caused shivers to crawl up and down your back, but at the same time, it was incredibly calming and had a soothing aura. How that worked, you had no clue whatsoever. Brushing off the unsettling voice of the bird, you decided to focus on the name that caused a light to go off in your head, “Alright… Philza… I think I remember that name…”
“Yeah! Dadza- Eck… Sorry. Phil, he’s the God of Survival and Crows! He controls not only every crow in the mortal land, but he also controls whether or not someone will survive a situation. If there is no way that the mortal can survive, he will send a crow down and have them guide the soul of the mortal to him! Then he escorts them to Kristen! He has gained the name Angel of Death because he works for Mumza!”
You decided not to question why the crow called Philza and Kristen Mumza and Dadza, knowing that you’d probably find out later, but by the sound of it Chat seemed to be multiple children, “Okay… Makes sense…” You mumbled slowly, nodding your head up and down. With a sigh you slowly brought your legs over to the side of the bed, only now becoming aware of how large the soft mattress was. Lowlands! (Hell) You could probably fit six people who were ten feet tall in it with room to roam! Pushing yourself off the bed, you also realized how high the beautiful bed was off the floor, Gods, whoever lived here was tall!
Behind you, you heard a small chirp, and you saw Chat watching you curiously. With a small shrug, you decided to pick the familiar up and hold it in your cupped hands as you walked out the door, “Oooh! Dadza never carries us like this, and Technoblade does only when he’s about to yeet us out a window!”
“Yeet?” You scowled in confusion as you walked through the arched doorway, your bare feet padding silently on the quartz flooring, “I'm scared to ask. Technoblade? Is he also a god of some things? He sounds familiar as well…”
“That’s its word for throwing something. Well, it yells the word when they throw something or get thrown, so I assume it’s yelling in excitement,” A deep voice spoke from in front of you, causing you to gasp and lift your head from the crow. The telepathic chirping and squeaks from Chat in your mind quickly formed the name Technoblade, so… You had a feeling that your answer was on its way past his
lips, “I’m Technoblade, or Techno, the God of Blood and War. It’s… nice to see you finally awake…” He shifted awkwardly on his feet as you curiously studied him.
His appearance could certainly be described as godly if anyone asked you. His long pink hair was mostly twisted and tied into a braid with bits of golden chain and a polished golden crown adorned with rubies, garnets and diamonds. Upon his pale skin, dozens of scars of varying sizes decorated his skin in different areas, but they were displayed in an almost proud manner. Almost. When he spoke, his dark pink eyes hidden behind cracked glasses searched your form for any sort of injury, “I’m… (Y/n)... I think. I don’t know if this bird is exactly trustworthy in its information… Do you know where I am?”
Techno snorted as Chat gave an offended squawk at your statement, “That’s very fair, to be honest. You’re in the Tundra of the Upperlands, and this is my palace. No there is no snow, I believe the person who named this place has never looked into the name or word Tundra, but it’s been like this for too long to change it-” He paused for a moment as he noticed you looking extremely confused, “Ah. Right. Desert. Don’t worry about it.”
“Oh… Okay…” You frowned at the tusked male for a moment before shaking your head, deciding not to question it much, “Now, uh… How did I get here, and why don’t I remember anything about myself? Or, about you and this Philza guy, I was told about.” You lifted Chat slightly toward Techno as a silent indication that Chat was the one who told you about Phil.
“That’s uh… Phil’s field of expertise.” He rubbed the back of his head with his black-tipped fingers before adjusting his crown, “I don’t understand much of what happened, and Phil will tell you what you need to know that will keep you safe.” Hesitantly, he held his free hand out towards you making you realize that he was easily over seven and a half feet tall, “C’mon, I’ll take you to him and get you the answers you need.”
His hand was extremely steady, you noticed as you stared down at it cautiously. Once you noticed that he didn’t seem to want to do you harm, you slowly shifted Chat into one hand and used your free hand to take the one extended to you, which you couldn’t help but notice, made Technoblade very happy, “Okay. Thank you.”
The god held your hand in his calloused one for a few moments before beginning to lead you down the tan and white hallways that were turned a light golden hue from the rising sun. It was quite a long walk filled with a slightly uncomfortable silence, but you distracted yourself by looking around the palace curiously. It was obvious he was the God of War by how many swords hanging on walls and sets of armour he had placed on armour stands in the hallways.
Eventually, he walked you through an archway that led into a wide-open room with multiple windows that had many crows perched on the windowsills, some chirping and singing some little tune in perfect unison while others shuffled around, seeming to do a little dance. You were quick to realize the whistling of one of the birds didn’t match up and noticed that it was coming from the man with the large white and green striped hat as well as massive black feathered wings dangling on his back, fluffing themselves up every so often. When you and Techno stepped in, the blackbirds started chirping loudly, losing the rhythm of the tune the winged man was whistling as Chat started telepathically squealing about… 2/4? Two out of four what?
“Ah!” The hat-wearing male turned around and clasped his hands together upon seeing you standing up, “(Y/n), you’re awake. I was worried the injuries you sustained were enough to keep you out cold for a few more weeks. I’m glad to see I was wrong. I’m Philza, God of Survival and Crows, and I see you’ve met Chat and Techno. Pesky bird, I told it not to wake you...”
You pursed your lips for a moment, analyzing the shorter god as the bird squealed out its protests. While he was shorter than Techno, he was certainly tall, standing roughly around six feet tall, his wingspan
probably double that for each wing! His blonde hair was long around his face but was pulled into a loose braid like Techno’s was, although instead of gold intertwined into his hair, it was silver. His outfit was made up of a loose green shirt and black pants, with a red heart-shaped pendant dangling off of a chain into the center of his chest. Why did that pendant… Look familiar? You slowly rose your hand up and clasped at the pendant around your neck, noticing how Philza smiled softly, “Technoblade… Said you could tell me why I can’t remember anything?”
“You’re still wearing my gift, I see,” Philza gave a soft hum as Chat jumped from your hand and onto his shoulder, before gesturing for you and Techno to take a seat where he already had drinks and some form of cakes set out, but they certainly weren’t there when you came in. Upon seeing your confused blinking, he gave a soft laugh, “I’m a god, mate, magic is no difficult task for me, let alone creating some measly tea and desserts. Now, sit down and I will tell you everything…”

Alright I’m here for Part Two which is: Jegulus fics that have either already Hurt Me To My Bones, or I am predicting will Hurt Me To My Bones.
Choices by Messermoon If you’re reading this, and its not in the top five things in life thats causing you pain, then I simply do not understand how your brain works. In other words, I’m dying out here guys. I found it at 14 chapters long. The prank had just happened, I caught up in one night and ONLY THEN did I see the canon compliant tag aka. I didn’t stand a chance. The meer existence of Lupercal fundamentally changed me as a human being, and Mia somehow became my favourite fictional character I’ve ever had the honour of reading about. Reading this makes me so thankful I learned how to bookbind last year, because making my pretty typesets is How I’m Coping. I also just owe a huge debt of gratitude to this fic because it reminded me why I love writing and gave me the courage to apply to creative writing school. I found out last week I got in.
Don't worry, darlin' by achylss has already hurt me, and will hurt me more. I’ve accepted my fate. I don’t know how to describe it but the line “One couldn't yield such a storm without peculiar strength and bravery.” reframed my entire perspective on how I treat myself when I’m struggling with my mental health. This fic has some content warnings so make sure you check those but if you’re in a good place I really recommend. I could not describe what it’s about if I tried, I won’t do it justice.
Drugs and surgical scrubs by anauro Believe it or not it hasn’t actually hurt me yet but boy do I think it’s going to. Basically The Marauders are drug addicts, Regulus is an anesthesiologist, and after an *Altercation* leaves James with a stab wound Sirius guilts Regulus into looking after him. It is a very realistic portrayal of drug addiction. What made me fall in love with this fic was, first of all getting to read all the cool medical terms and what they mean, and secondly Marlene Mckinnon being Regulus’ queer confidant and surrogate big sister. Also Andromeda and Ted. Just them both being there made me so happy.
Flowers by gwenstacylvr Okay Listen. Theres a story as to why this one is on my list and I have not known peace since I read it. (content warning: Regulus dies via suicide attempt in this fic, and it’s about grief, moving on etc. James does fall in love with Lily, but Holy Fuck That Hurt More Somehow?) I was minding my business on tiktok when the user pr0ngslover (I’m 99 percent sure that was the username) had posted an edit. It was to the Sufjan steven’s song Fourth of July. So basically I was already in pain, and then I had the audacity to ask if it was based off a fic. And they responding, yes, Flowers by gwenstacylvr. I went. I read The Fic. It has been almost five goddamn months and I have not mentally moved past it. I cry when I eat a kit-kat, I cry when I find the edit on my camera-roll. I could not even tell you why. I’m a bit of a stickler for structure, grammar, all that stuff when I read literally anything--honestly it’s just habit at this point. But when I tell you I don’t give a shit that the storytelling is inconsistent, or that the grammar isn’t the best in the world, I mean it, cuz it still managed to destroy me anyhow and I gotta give it that.
Fade Into You by euphorial_docx Again, it hasn’t hurt me yet...but I think it’s gonna, and I’m willing to bet on that. The bittersweet ending tag is taunting me. I love Pandora in this So Much and I will somehow headcanon pandalily in it. I don’t care what actually happens, I will project those two being in love with every fic I read where they’re present.
I See Stars and Painted Lies By Iwantedausername There are only three chapters in this fic so far, and it does not tag whether its canon death of James or not and that freaks me out man. Like Regulus survives the cave, but my brain will wormhole a way into worrying its gonna be canonical death ending. Basically James & Regulus were sort of together at Hogwarts but the fic really starts after he escapes the cave with the Hocrux. I love James’ characterization so far, Remus is really great too. Even if it’s not canon compliant I’ve already felt hurt at multiple points. Also, as Mary MacDonalds #1 fan, they better get her the hell out of jail real soon she deserves better.

Bungou Stray Dogs Volume 22 cover analysis - Even More edition!
Merciless spoilers ahead. Of a sacrifice that has already been made. Of the enigmatical Book and its related colours. Of possible implied power dynamics with future consequences in the manga.
Several analysis posts have already been made, all of which are beautiful and valuable, thus I will not repeat the main ideas covered by other BSD fans. Instead, I will focus on what caught my eye and will tag & reference other posts related to the general “BSD vol. 22 cover analysis” discussion, when connected to my observations. Without further ado, welcome to the Bungou Stray Dogs All-Smiles Problem-Solving Roooooundtable*! *Note: Problem-solving efficiency may vary.

1) The red flowers and the ram skull. A sacrifice already made
Like @thecoffeelovingfreak here, I don’t believe the flowers are red camellias (I cannot identify their particular inner yellow stamens, but it could be just the artstyle’s fault). I think they are something else, either carnations, like they suggested, or a specific type of roses (Rosa William Lobb), or perhaps Pelargonium Lord Bute (symbolizing ardour), I would say. I hesitate in any case. Since I am not 100% sure what they are, I suggest we focus on what is certain: the flowers are red, which is a very common yet elegant representation of blood being spilt. For me, these flowers together with the ram skull (it is definitely a ram skull, not a bull skull, the horns tell them apart) put forth a certain idea more than other meanings carried by the ram skull symbol especially: the idea of sacrifice.
Not to mix manga fiction with actual Biblical research too much, but I want to (briefly) share why to me that part of the cover is undoubtedly suggesting the idea of sacrifice above anything else. First of all, the ram is a sacrificial animal par excellence. There is a much larger Judeo-Christian context to this – I will refer strictly to the ram, not the lamb, which is another symbol with a different discourse entirely. In the Hebrew Bible (it is described in multiple places, first instance being Exodus 25-31), God instructed prophet Moses on the construction of the tabernacle and on conducting its holy rituals (the tabernacle refers to the dwelling place of God on Earth, in Latin it was translated as tabernaculum, “tent”); these instructions were very, very specific, and the sacrifice of rams, among other animals, plays an important role in the rituals (see Exodus 29 as a starter). Now, the offerings and sacrifices were in the end given at the altar, which is the sacred place of communication between God and man, the official meeting place so to say (this stayed basically the same in Christian conception). Consider the altar as standing directly in front of God’s eyes, an idea expressed plainly through the composition of the volume’s cover (Eye of God above the ram skull).
Then, red flowers “flowing” around the ram skull can very well suggest spilt blood (so, blood that has been spilled already), therefore the flowers make the sacrifice theme more evident. Moreover, to the right, the ram skull is broken, but not because of natural decay: it appears the skull has been violently smashed with an axe with something that left a big hole in its snout (snout? is that how you refer to that anatomical part of…sheep…? English is not my native language). This is independent from the Biblical exposition from before: the ram skull could depict both 1) the violent action that caused the ram’s death, and 2) the spilt blood (which is not fresh blood anymore, if we take a step further and consider the flowers withered, as they are a pale dark red of sorts). In the end, at least for me, this imagery tells me a sacrifice has been already made, and @bergamotex’s reply on @stories-from-saint-petersburg’s post here makes me think Chuuya, the former King of Sheep, is the sacrificed one indeed. Even more, @lastlenore‘s post here used the very fitting term “infected” for the ram skull we could further describe as “corrupted” by the red flowers. If that is so, and it all alludes to vampire-infected Chuuya as Fyodor’s current new pawn, then it would be valuable to re-evaluate how we associate the red flower side with Dazai and the smashed skull side with Fyodor: perhaps, instead of hinting to their respective future condition, the sides together refer to Chuuya’s condition fully.
2) Fyodor’s mysterious card: colours of the Book and its creative powers
Unlike Dazai’s card, which clearly represents Atsushi, albeit curiously from behind (!), Fyodor’s card is very ambiguous for a handful of reasons. Firstly, since its depicted content is very abstract, we can only speculate it to be representing a person, an ocean, water, anything really, and any guess could work. Secondly, I myself am unsure if what we see is the inside of the card or its backside. Despite all the mystery surrounding it, one thing is fascinating for certain: the main colours of the card. Whatever is represented on it, its main colours are pale shades of purple and a distinct type of turquoise. These shades of purple are predominant in the overall volume 22 cover, especially on Sigma’s and Nikolai’s hair and clothes. But the specific turquoise of Fyodor’s card is present in the form of glowing droplets or reflections, as if it is made of liquid metal. This would imply creative powers in Fyodor’s hand, because it goes hand in hand with the general metaphor of metal-forging / metallurgy as an art, an action and a power specific to a “creator”, creating both animate and inanimate beings in mythological or religious settings. Not to speculate too much on this, below I will add images emphasizing the shades of turquoise present in Sigma’s eyes and hair, Nikolai’s eyes and hair, both of their clothes, and floating as droplets over Fyodor and Dazai (only Fyodor shown below). I believe all these shades have the same type of turquoise as their base colour.
As to what this could mean, I can only dream that it is related to the Book, thus deepening the link between Fyodor and the Book, or, if not the entire Book, then at least the individual page from the Book. Indeed the page that (we so far know) was used to create Sigma and the circumstances in which he lived in the Sky Casino, all of which (many speculate, me included) could have been written, in other words created, by Fyodor himself.
3) Additional remarks on the grid lines. Even more questions as a bonus
One last thing for this post: the grid reminds me of a radar, more than other things. I have no argument to expand on this, it’s just a hunch based on visual similarity between the respective grid lines. The Gogol game’s location is a well-kept secret, and Nikolai is positioned as if he is the master of said “radar space” aka a certain space he has a total map of. I have to mention @elf-osamu’s observation from here, it is excellent: as they wrote, the space itself is contained in a mirror frame, elegantly decorated with golden (Japanese oak?) leaves that are already a symbol attributed to Sigma in the manga so far. In that case, who will be more powerful in this game: 1) Nikolai surveilling the space (like an omnipotent god, hiding everything under his overcoat and even symbolically sanctifying Fyodor by putting a “saint” veil on his head, as discussed here), or 2) Sigma “embracing” all its contents? Regarding the latter, @stories-from-saint-petersburg also noted here how the golden leaves, Sigma’s plant in other words, even extend into the inner space, towards the Eye of God and the ram skull, and yes that could indeed hint towards Sigma’s possible profound influence in things of key-importance (such as the sacrifice itself, by extension Chuuya himself, in this post’s case, if that turns out to be correct). Or, on the other hand, should we take the Eye of God “literally” and immediately think of the superpowerful “Eyes of God” software Fitzgerald now owns, as @bsd-el discussed here? In that case, Fitzgerald could once again turn the tables around, his Eyes of God previously leading to Fyodor’s arrest. Oh, but would Fyodor fall for the same trick twice?
Conclusion: I love Bungou Stray Dogs.

This will be updated with relevant questions from the interest check if need be!
- What is a Big Bang?
A Big Bang is a fandom event bringing together writers, artists, and consumers alike! They used to be much more popular back in the early 2010s, but from what I can see, they seem to be making a comeback!
- Why Hatchetfield?
I’m a huge fan of the Hatchetfield Universe and Team Starkid as a whole, and I have had great experiences with the Soul Eater Resonance Bang, so I thought that it would be fun! (And if anyone noticed, yes, I pretty much directly stole Resbang’s set-up for this. Having done a couple other bangs as well, I can confidently say that it is the best set-up I have seen, by a long shot. Don’t improve on perfection!)
- What are the requirements?
For authors: A Hatchetfield-focused fan fiction that is a minimum of 6,000 words. This can be any pairing, any genre, any plot, any characters - and crossovers and OCs are allowed too, we just ask you don’t get too lost!
For artists: At least one fully completed work of art per fic you are partnered with. “Work of art” is a little vague - of course there is traditionally or digitally drawn art, but you could also do a physical work of art, you could cook, you could do music!
For betas: You must use your skills for good and help out authors in the ways they need it - beta-reading, editing, soundboarding, so on!
For all: You must be willing to provide an email, and check it. This email will be shared with your bang partner(s), as well as this blog, but it will never be posted publicly - it’s just for communication!
- What are the restrictions?
Nothing! Go wild, fam! Just make sure that all works are properly tagged! Keep in mind that this also means that spoilers are allowed! If you want to keep away from spoilers from a certain part of the Hatchetfield Universe, have no fear! If you’re an artist, you can note down if you want to stay away from spoilers, and if you’re a writer, you can put a note in your artist summary, and so people can avoid each other as need be.
- Can I use a fic/art that I have already made/posted?
Sorry, nope! If you have just mentioned the idea and not talked about it in detail, and it’s not actually written and posted anywhere, then you can! Also having something already written is also okay - the point is it can’t have been shared somewhere. These works are supposed to be a surprise!
- Am I allowed to talk about my fic/art in public?
Nope! Your work must stay a secret until posting! The exception will be official promos posted on this blog (which will be set up during the third check-in). However, if you’re dying to talk about your piece, there is a time and place; we have an official Discord that you are welcome to join! (It’s not required, so if you don’t want too, no worries!)
- How do claims/match-ups work?
If you look at the schedule, you’ll see that there is an event listed called “Artist Claims.” On the day of the first author check-in, all authors will provide an anonymous artist summary of their fic, complete with warnings, that will be put on a list and shared with the artists and betas. The artists and betas will then have a week to look over the list and make their own list of their top five (at least), and on claims night those will be emailed back to us. Then, match-ups will be made on a first-come first-serve basis. Every fic will get an artist!
- Can I be matched up with a specific person?
Nope! The artist summaries are anonymous, so you most likely will not know who your partner is until you get your official match-up! However, if you have a specific person you would like to not work with, you can email us privately and we’ll see if we can work it out.
- What if I want to do art for more than one fic?
It is possible there will be more than one round of claims, which will be done in much the same way as described, so this is totally possible! But if there aren’t enough people who want to have a round two or three, we may not do it. But remember you can always make fan art!
- What if I want to write more than one fic?
Who am I to stop you! But know that you still have to meet the 6k minimum for each fic. Don’t bite off more than you can chew! For your own sanity, authors won’t be allowed to write more than two fics on their own.
- What if I want to co-write/do an art collaboration?
That is also allowed! You just have to make sure you’re signing up as a group rather than as an individual. There will be a place for this during sign-ups.
- What if I need to drop out?
First, dropping out may not be your first step! If you’re a bit behind on a check-in, email us ASAP! We can give extensions! You only get one extension per work (so if you’re an artist for two fics, you get one extension for each fic).
If you do need to drop out, that’s okay! Things happen! Just let us know ASAP so we can work things out with the rest of your group.
- If I drop out, can I still post my fic/art?
Yes, but know that you won’t be able to use this fic for future bangs. But there’s nothing stopping you from posting it as normal!

why? i started writing the fic during a dark point in my life, but i somehow ended up writing one of my all-time ultra-soft favorite platonic relationships. it’s been rewritten multiple times despite the original having forty chapters, but that relationship has never changed. while writing this fic the first time, i used the term “platonic soulmates” for the first time to describe a dynamic.

why? it is an anime fic and the whole thing honestly makes me cringe, but it remains posted in its original glory so that i can remember where i started and how far i’ve come. also, people seemed to like it despite the cringe. even with the negativity it received at times, the positivity surrounding the fic is a fond memory and is what kept me writing fanfiction. (important note, it isn’t cringe because of the fandom. i still write in the fandom, i have a story that’s being planned and written now, and i will always love this specific fandom and writing anime fandom fics in general. it’s cringe because i was young and made a lot of mistakes, but the experience as a whole is something i would never give up.)
