One of the main themes of Alice’s books is that there are no happy people. In Solitaire, Tori says it and thinks it throughout the book, and Alice continues with that theme throughout all of their books. In solitaire, there are no happy people. Micheal isn’t happy, Charlie isn’t happy, Lucas isn’t happy, Becky isn’t happy, Tori isn’t happy. There are no happy people. Radio silence, there are no happy people. Aled isn't happy, Frances isn't happy, Dan isn't happy, Carys isn't happy. There are no happy people. Loveless, there are no happy people. Pip isn't happy, Rooney isn't happy, Sunil isn't happy, Jason isn’t happy, Georgia isn’t happy. There are no happy people. In I was born for this, there are no happy people. In every one of Alice’s novels, she starts with a character who isn't happy and knows it, who isn't happy and doesn’t know what to do about it or how to help it. And then throughout the novels, the character learns more about the people around them and realizes that, there are no happy people. Everyone they thought was happy and had perfect lives, doesn’t. And then towards the end of the novel, the character feels less alone in their sadness because they realize they are not the only one. There are no happy people, and that’s what can make the not-happy people happy again.

It’s rare to see James angry, much less shouting but James couldn’t ever hide anything from Regulus, even the scary worst bits of him that he fought so hard to hide from everyone else.

Regulus stared at him, eyes burning. “You think they’ll let another son stroll out of their house without a fight? You know what happened to me when Sirius left.”

And James knew. He knew about the way Regulus was held under imperio, how even a single toe out of line might mean a crucio.

“That’s precisely why you need to get out Reg! We’ll protect you! I’ll protect you!” His voice cracks at the end.

Regulus closes his eyes, trying to focus on the anger because if he focused on the sadness in his voice, he wouldn’t be able to stop himself from breaking apart.

“I can’t James. It’s not going to work out.”

James stares at him, heartbroken before the familiar anger comes out. “You’re not even trying. Don’t make excuses when you’re being a coward.”

Regulus’ eyes blaze in anger. “I’m the coward?I should have known you’d take Sirius’s side.”

“Don’t bring Sirius into this. Don’t.”

Regulus raises a challenging eyebrow. “Why not? He’s your favourite after all isnt he?”

James glared at him. “You don’t get to say that. Not when I’ve been hiding this from him. Not when I’ve been going behind his back.”

Regulus laughs derisively. “Do you want an award for being able to keep a secret? Do you want me to be happy that you’re keeping me hidden in the dark, like a dirty little secret? Cause you’re the one who suggested hiding.”

James looks like he’s been struck. “It’s cause of your parents - “

“Oh don’t give me that bullshit James. We both know it’s cause of Sirius.”

James doesn’t reply, choosing to look at the ground instead. Regulus should feel happy, he won the argument after all. But as he stares at James, all he can feel is sadness.

“Fuck you James. You don’t get to ask me to leave and call me a coward when you’re not even prepared to be with me in the light.”

hello! first of all, i actually based the miguel o'hara i write in the movies with miles morales and not the one in the comics. no info about his parents was said in the movie so i relied on my imagination to fill that up. second of all, this is a fan fiction. and fan fiction most of the times is very different from canon if you didn't know. i am not going for the canon because if i was, then the miguel in pecador wouldn't be a mafia related murderer turned priest. third of all, if you're so obsessed with canon maybe you could think of it as another universe where the mom was actually nice? or go read the comics and not fan fics idk.

not everything has to be canon because i am not an original marvel creator nor writer. if you're so devastated about my inaccurate miguel o'hara, why don't you request a more accurate one to me? :))

Sorry for the scarcity of posts so far this month! I've gone back to work, but they're so behind (there was a strike with our supplier) and the winter rush is coming up, its all hands on deck as is. Worked both today and will work tomorrow, and well, heard that we may actually be pulling 7-day shifts until after the new year...

...so updates on stuff may be rather slow.

Due to this, though, I am ignoring the 'monthly' thing. You want a NNN ask in December? Go for it. You want Halloween in January? Sure!
