also I feel both older and younger at 30 than I expected. probably something to do with the life milestones my parents had reached by my age, but also having a small but increasingly noticeable amount of white hair
#my boss was like. wow youre 30? when i was 30 i was married had a house and 3 kids#and im like. well im most of the way to one of those. dunno about the 3 kids part#im one of the older cousins in my family- my oldest cousin is also getting married soon#i mean we havent quite had a full thanksgiving bc of pandemic and then my grandma passed away#but last time at her house we were still at the kids table#talking about health insurance or something lmao#i kinda feel like we're all still at the kids table even tho we're like in the 27-32 age range now#and my main friend group is just about all married and most of them own houses#we're not quite there yet#one has a kid even#but ive known most of them since like. age 7#it feels like we're all still so young lol#stupid text post#still young but i have gray hair and i dont understand the youth anymore

If it is a god shroom then everything explodes because It's A God Shroom it could do whatever it wants for any reason . In which Sozo has a god in his body/brain(???) and that's why it can drag him with it when it's revived.

[EDIT: like i said inside the post, i havent read the books in a while so some people pointed out to me that most mortal parents don't know the person they slept with was a god and that changes the situation A Lot but also it's not that deep and this is just my opinion? Not stating it as a law lmao]
maybe it's just the mommy issues in me but smth i always disliked about the books is how for other characters we do get a bit of insight or mentions about the fact that every mortal parent of a demigod is a cheater (or most of them anyway) bc most gods are married (a good example id say is Beryl Grace) but (and i only realised it now that im older) bc most of the books are from Percy's perspective, we never ONCE get any nuance on Sally.
She's always this annoyingly perfect angel mom that has no flaws and while yes, I do think the show playing Olivia Rodrigo's Logical sheds some light on how the relationship between her and Poseidon clearly had a power (and age, Sally was I think 23 when she had Percy?) imbalance...
it always bothered me how (as far as I remember but I could be wrong, it's been a while and I need to re-read the series) they never once put a minimum of focus on the fact that Sally probably knew enough about greek mythology to know that Poseidon was married and decided it didn't matter bc he's a god and his wife's a goddess? so fuck her ig, idk?? and again, the same goes for most mortal parents of demigods (Athena kids' mortal parents being one of the only exceptions).
just to be clear, the main cheaters are always the gods ofc. They're the ones who are actually married and starting things with mortals but as the saying goes, it takes two to tango and imo it's so... naive? to portray mortals who sleep with gods as purely innocent? (tho i do understand it's a series for children but still lol). again, there's a lot of power imbalance so like 99% of the blame should still go to the gods but i think at least 1% should go to the grown adults that decide to sleep with married gods and then have kids who will have a pretty shitty life because of it...
i think most demigods should honestly hate their mortal parent as well lol

hi i don't normally do this but I'm going to treat myself a bit. I'm going to provide a bit of constructive criticism for the story thus far. The Springy possession thing is a nice idea in concept but in practice all it did was remove one of the titular characters from the roster. Don't get me wrong, removing a character that usually hangs around another can offer a chance to flesh out either of them. But the fact is that we haven't talked to one in ages and the other isn't showing a side of them or growing in a way that would need to be isolated to do so. It feels like just an excuse to forget about one of the main characters. I'm sure there are behind the scenes things that make sense and are interesting but from where I stand I can't see them.

of course, im also worried about people losing interest in the blog if I dont post at least a few times a day, so ive been trying to maintain consistency but we lost backgroundy along the way because im slightly burnt out

all of my irl friends have already graduated college, and im about to start my second semester tomorrow 😭 and whenever i see my irl’s post pics of them at clubs w/ their other friends im like… dang.
and it’s so funny bc im *not* a club person whatsoever so i wouldnt even enjoy myself anyway LMAO.

hey I've been really loving your neverafter analysis - it made me feel like i wasn't complaining about nothing lmao and you word it much better than I could
so about that, you've mentioned the acoc finale a few times & if you have a post about that or any kind of commentary, I'm really curious to read it
<3 i dont think i have any posts from when i watched, ive deleted most of my acoc posts over the years bc they annoyed me lol. ive gotten several questions about this and will do my best to explain what i mean! it's not going to be super detailed due to i havent watched that season in literally 3 years but basically i just remember the very end of the acoc finale being really like. tonally jarring because the players were saying all this insane stuff about consolidating political power but it was being framed as a happy ending not only for the party but also for their subjects. the vibe was like, well it was tough going there for a minute but now the Right people are in charge, so it's all good now :) just no acknowledgement of the inherent violence of governance via monarchy, which again may be stupid to expect from the dnd comedy show, except for the fact that the content of the season was like. a painfully extended enumeration of The Violences of Monarchy. but i guess we learned nothing :) like let's just read from the wiki briefly about the events of the episode post-siege:
Cumulous asks Liam what is glowing in his pocket. Liam without hesitation eats the seed from Lapin Cadbury. He thinks of the change he most wants to see in the world and wishes that the creativity and magic of Candia would burst forth, and instantly Candia quadruples in size within its place on the Calorum map. Saccharina thanks Liam as the new queen of a lot more Candian land. Far off, Liam hears Lapin chuckling […] Lapin whispers to Liam on his way out, “There’s nothing wrong with being a seed guy.” A new age of Candia is born as Emperor Amethar of the House Rocks embraces his new title and brings a new age of peace to the realms […] Liam brings the Pontifex and Sir Keratin back to life in an act of mercy and locks them in prison for the rest of their lives. He leaves them, and goes back to being a seed guy […] Saccharina tries to find Cinnamon an alternative food source to Bulbian hearts, looking through all of Vegetania before returning to Candia. Just outside the castle, a tinfoil tree grows and a cranky Cinnamon eats the fruit from the tree and then grows gentle, regarding the world with love instead of hunger.
all of this is soooo stupid and shoehorned to me... why is liam wishing for candia to grow four times larger besides that ally the player thinks that would be a good thing. WHY is liam resurrecting dead people and throwing them in jail framed as 'quirky' besides the fact that they have essentially already rolled credits and so are just ready to frame anything that happens as funny and nice because they don't want to like. get into the politics of it.
and that's not even getting into the rest of the wrap-up where like. all the bad stuff, all the outstanding conflict and tension that would naturally linger after the battle just gets done away with completely for the sake of an ending that is not tainted by even the faintest hint of complexity or violence (again, this is revealing and tells us a lot about what the table considers violent vs. what is so normalized as to not even register as violence in the moment). rather than having to grapple with having raised and domesticated a pet that feeds on people in a time of war and then still being responsible for that creature after peace has been declared, cinnamon is magically transformed into a creature that now only needs the fruit of trees to surivive. the events of the season usher in a reign of peace rather than a rocky period of distrust and repairing alliances or even open rebellion because that is the happiest ending for our royal protagonists, not because it necessarily follows logically from what took place in the finale.
all in all i feel that what the acoc finale wants to convince me of is that the season's conflict was largely a case of good vs. evil individuals rather than complex people caught in and trying to exploit violent systems, and that as long as the good people win out and have the space to rule as they want to, monarchy is not opposed to concepts like happiness or justice but indeed is highly compatible with them. we just needed a good king!!! earlier in the season it felt like there was space to question monarchy's claims to moral authority, particularly through saccharina's abuse and the outsider perspectives of her crew of outlaws. however, by the finale all of this critique has been subsumed into the narrative machine and we're back to cheering for the rulers of candia in their noble pursuit to conquer ever more land, something we hope they achieve because they have shown themselves to be pure of heart and sound in judgement. this was not a actually a forum to question whether a small group of unelected wealthy people should be allowed to govern just because they want to, but rather just an extended job interview for the rocks family, and they have passed with flying colors. anyway.
the reason i compared this week's neverafter to this particular acoc episode is that i think we are again seeing some of the limits of the table's political imagination, particularly as it relates to incarceration; imprisonment has been invoked repeatedly through the device of trapping people in timothy's book, which is either framed as a good or bad thing depending on whether it is done by a protagonist or an antagonist. if the authors or the fairies trap the characters in their respective stories, it's an abuse of power that must be challenged. however, if the party traps an annoying or superfluous npc, or a meddling princess, in their handy portable prison, it's (a) benevolent; the possibility has been raised that trapping characters in this way makes them happy, and may indeed be a way to give them a happily ever after; or (b) violent, but markedly less so than other available courses of action and thus merciful by comparison. there is no space to discuss the inherent violence of incarceration or entrapment even if it is used as an alternative to death, which IS INSANE in a season where the horror that kicked everything off was the horror that what the characters thought were their lives was actually a prison made of narrative.
across these two seasons i think we are seeing an inability or perhaps just an unwillingness to contend with the inherent violence of being held against one's will. the problem for the party seems not to be that characters experience various levels of incarceration by virtue of being trapped in narratives, but rather that the wrong people have been imprisoned while those who truly deserve the punishment roam free. the party, our protagonists, have been trapped in story despite their inherent goodness, while the true bad actors -- the fairies, the princesses, the gander -- are allowed to roam free. according to this logic, simply capturing and imprisoning everyone who advances a plan the party doesn't agree with will be a satisfactory outcome and should be enough to set the world to rights.
tldr it frustrates me as a viewer when d20 seasons make a point to explicitly raise and explore structural issues only to "solve" them at the last minute with individualist fixes that do nothing to address the root cause of said issues. it adds insult to injury when they try to tell me the ending is a happy one simply because it made the party happy, even if others had to suffer for that to be so.

I 100% agree, ignorance is a big issue in general, not just with these specific topics. it’s a problem that expands way farther, and being more aware of it helps us to actively better ourselves. I am definitely not perfect but that doesn’t excuse myself from the mistakes i make, it only pushes me to be better which i definitely will hold onto.
I appreciate your maturity post, puts a real No-Bullshit perspective and i fucking LOVE it. Lines can get really blurred and with the online presence it’s just entirely different. We didn’t grow up next to these people, we probably don’t even know what half of these guys look like lmao.

yeah, especially when it comes to the maturity aspect i think a lot of people in terras just dont consider the full ramifications of the things they put out there, and that can be said for a lot of the issues in the species.
and a lot of these people have been online since they were super young; being in the internet environment so often and from such a young age can cause you to again blur the lines of connection and cause them to think they can interact with large servers the same way they interact with irl friends, when its actually a drastically different environment and dynamic
the art community and furry fandom especially has an issue with the “18 year olds are automatically adults” thing, just look how many of them will start making NSFW and posting things like “all minors dni yall are annoying as fuck” when they havent even been 18 for a month.
and i really appreciate the kindness, i am just some random person but i try to be as thoughtful as i can with certain things like this. art, cs, and furry spaces are full of really fake people wearing toxic positivity masks, and i just hate having to put up a front like that so if theres one thing im gonna do on here its be real and upfront about my thoughts and opinions

Why are you drinking?" Bitch??? Someone cosplaying a loli does not make them a loli?? Like what? I've seen 30 year olds with thick beards cosplay Misaka Mikoto from Railgun or Anya from Spy x Family. Like it literally is not that deep. We're all just here to have fun and forget about our troubles for a bit. It's so toxic that people resort to harassing cosplayers. I even saw a take today that was like kind of defending(???) the person that harassed Val cosplayer. I'll post the screenshots below because I don't remember exactly what they said.

SF SUPPORTING CAST
mokubat knows his leanness makes latikam upset. reminds him of the occupation. but its whatever. Appreciates the fact that he is apparently Incredibly Sexy by mortal standards and uses this to his advantage to be as much as a slut as possible with them.
zumi puts on a brave face to hide that she is deeply insecure about the way she looks. She'd give everything to just look vazuvyn. Having a more feminine body shape would help too but its by far not her biggest problem.
susarikas's biggest problem is just moving around. his body was never meant to... be like this. Unknown to everyone he will grow into it and live an adulthood without inhibition but right now its awkward to deal with. He doesn't let it get to him as he has no fellow young vazuvyr to compare himself with (though this itself does make him rather lonely).
dusk is reasonably mixed. ellyon dominated media that makes the ideal body one that she could literally never physically obtain vs living in a strong gwenduraag community where her body is normal and average. She has reasonable insecurities but nothing noteworthy. However, she is oblivious to how pretty she is with her hair down.
liz loves her body. It took a lot to get her body the way it is. her only issue is she wishes she had casarin's huge caboose, then she'd be perfect lmao.
You may not like it but kayanit is what peak female performance looks like (big snake)
levis, a naturally thin conventionally attractive jewel ellyon, has never once had to think about how his appearance would be received. He is taking aging with grace btw, thanks for checking in, we were all so concerned.
im going back and forth with something about nerus so put a tiny redacted about something here. That aside, i have a whole other essay about him and hydrel's insecurities with being half faeren. Might post later idk. Know he worries about his looks but its not in his size or shape.
galan, like everyone* else in their family, has no reason to be insecure because they're all thin and conventionally attractive. admittedly though, he is somewhat insecure that he has zero physical strength. Man couldn't protect a woman from a salmon. But it doesn't get to him that much because he hides behind his intelligence anyway. I have a business degree I dont need to lift heavy things such as a bag of flour.
vaens didn't have any issues until his thyroid failed on him and he got fat. deeply insecure about the changes, worst of all despite knowing its just medical condition he contextualizes it as a moral failing; that its a punishment from god. it is some solace to him that his wife loves him all the same. disclaimer that this is not why he is an horrible person, just another symptom of the bigger issue of his religiosity.
morgan is both conceited in her appearance and insecure. Looks at everyone else and thinks "at least I dont look like that". Fully believes that thinness is a holy thing and deviation is the result of one's own moral failing. We don't see behind the scenes but while she admires vaens's power she also judges him harshly for his body, though she keeps that thought to herself.
adaen was a soft squishy nerd. Always tried to look tougher and meaner to compensate but failed miserably and ended up just looking softer and dorkier in the end. Wasn't strong like his brother but he was the funny one.
fjinmars was also on the soft side but in a way that was still a very idealized feminine look. She never had to deal with anyone giving her shit about her appearance. And the media cant get to her because she knows things that society does not.

anrai was heavy set, being a wrestler before being deployed his size and shape was praised albeit not for his looks. After coming home from his first service he went from having a wrestlers physique to being plain fat. It was fine. It was truer to who he was anyways; a soft hearted guy who just wants to live a peaceful life and cuddle with a cute wife.
naljuun was never insecure of her appearance but of being a tiny helpless girl. Runt of the family and having grown up having to do manual labor which never seemed to be good enough. Doesnt like to think about it. Just glad that casarin took after his dad and not her.

this february 14th (kim mingyu). okay here's the tea. for a while, i really didnt like this fic and i despised seeing it in my notifications, BUT. it literally has 1k notes so i reread it last night and i literally forgot what this fic was about i kid you not 😭 after reading it again, i came to the conclusion that my writing style in this is actually really good and even though the plot is not anything special, i still think it was really sweet :p

my only hate, my only love (kim seungmin). bruh there's just something about seungmin that only allows me to write angst for him. i think there's like one (1) fluff that i wrote for him and even that one is a short drabble. im sorry seungmin. 😭 anyways i am a literature hoe and wrote this despite not reading romeo and juliet fully once!! had a lot of fun with it. e2l stays superior (not actually, i prefer f2l but shh)
