I feel like a lot of people misunderstand me when I say I'm disappointed with the way Aegon was adapted.
Most of those who criticize me (and some Aegon stans who aren't apologists, because get some help seriously) throw every possible excuse there is in the book in order to rid Aegon of any kind of depth or potential for Season 2.
I've been told I can't stomach characters that are downright bad, I've been told I only cling to show!Aegon's only redeeming quality at the moment (namely, TGC) and make it THE reason why Aegon should be liked.
I really don't know why I gotta say this about myself as a preface in order to debunk that second "theory" but I can absolutely assure you that amongst all the people I've crushed on or fell in love with in all my years of life, only two of them were boys and one of them is my current boyfriend. So if anything my fuckable meter as moral compass doesn't work that well with men lmao. Thank you for admitting that this show is so bad that sometimes the only good quality about certain characters are the actors that play them, idk what to tell you.
And on not being able to handle wicked characters, really? I've got a whole blog shitting on HotD writers for a lot of reasons amongst which is the fact that they made Rhaenyra blander than unseasoned potatoes and you came to the conclusion that... I can't handle wicked characters?
I'd really have no problems with Aegon being adapted as the cruel piece of shit he is in the books. You know, the only source material. If we're talking Aegon individually, my only problem with the route they're taking is making it similar to Joffrey. We don't want Joffrey Targaryen, we want Aegon II. (And like it or not, he's so different from Joffrey it's not even funny) The only things these two kids have in common are dying from poison, having a mother who's a lady-turned-queen, having a grandfather who's hand of the king and being selfish pricks.
My problem lies with Rhaenyra. Everyone knows Aegon sucks ass, that was known even before Sara Hess came up with that caricature of cartoonish evilness and tried masking it as gray writing. It's wanting to make Rhaenyra any better that is ridiculous as fuck.
Rhaenyra was just as selfish, self-righteous and dumb as Aegon. Rhaenyra's motives were just as valid as Aegon. They are both sides of the same coin. That's the basics if you want to understand Fire and Blood. Something Sara, Ryan, Miguel and the entire team didn't understand in the slightest. If you want me to take a show about the Dance of the Dragons seriously, you want to make this SIMPLE concept clear as day, which really isn't that hard.
And I'm sorry, but the situation with Dyana, that poor thing, is always angering to watch. Despicable, yes. Unforgivable, yes. I agree. I like it when there are turns in the adaptation of a story as vague as Fire and Blood, but not when that change is made for no reason other than wanting to uplift a character who deserves anything but.
Furthermore, I beg your pardon a second time for wanting the least possible scenes of r*pe or implied r*pe on my screen. Maybe because it's triggering, not necessarily because the r*pist is played by my little meow meow, ever thought of that? If you want your audience to hate a character, put yourself at work. There are so many ways to do that. Taking the easy route (because it was an easy route, argue with the wall) because war crimes aren't enough to make people pounce at a character like rabid dogs is lazy and disrespectful to people who came to see a well developed show. First accept that there aren't saints in F&B, then you can start working.

Let’s start with his og version, shall we? I can see him being a somewhat tough cookie to crack, not wanting to accept the fact he may be adoring somebody the same way, or perhaps even more so than he does with Sonic. I have personally always just kept the headcanon that SH Tails is really just a brainwashed version of the regular Miles Prower among that universe; feeling determined to worship and devote himself to Sonic, almost as it’s the literal meaning of his entire existence.
And that’s exactly where the major difference with you comes in.
When given genuine kindness, you earn his love and compassion instead of literally being entitled to it. He remains in severe denial about it for a while, but that soft spot is definitely growing when you’re going out of your way to dote on him. Despite seeming to lack lucidity in this state, he definitely isn’t some fool; He’s very well aware of the literal degradation Sonic had given him during that time, but he just let it happen due to his obsession with somebody who practically doesn’t even exist, atleast not for his position, that is. He seems to have trouble facing the differences between those who in his words are considered “imposters” and those who are being genuine; but you’d likely just take over that entire imagery of Sonic that’s been plastered into his mind when just being a decent human being//mobian torwards him, and in order to do so, it really just requires patience.
But even so, his masquerade would end up shattering into a million pieces eventually; wanting to do nothing but give into your angelic words, encouragement and comforts so badly. During this process he’d suddenly become a very clingy mobian, wanting to do nothing but grab your hands, hold you close, and just be alongside you each and every minute of the day. He’s one to grow pretty attached to those who are reasonable enough to treat him as an equal being, likely being one to go as far as worshipping a darling who holds a neutrally sweet demeanour, who’s able to give chances and atleast consider getting to know him instead of running away with their tail between their legs. Those who have been scared for their lives around the fox or just make him out to be some unsettling crackhead at first glance have definitely caused atleast some more unsteadyness to be created in his system. The word trustworthy has been lacking around him for such a long time that he honestly struggles to keep up with any sudden tender gestures, which is why warming him up to it makes him a whole lot more open in genuinely trying for both his own and your sake.
Another cute thing being is that he’d absolutely wrap you around in his tails like they’re a pair of covers, keeping you warm and wishing to keep you safe from any potential threats around at all costs. Talking about his tails; compliment them, hug them, bring your attention onto them in a positive manner, I dare you. In my canon, he was still very much bullied by the bystanders close to his home, and even now, nasty comments are oftentimes still given due to similar reasonings or the blue hedgehog’s complaints alone. And although he wouldn’t exactly understand why due to memory loss of the Sega brainwashing, but a few tears would for sure manage to slip their ways down his cheeks at some point.

Tails from the TSAA series was a slightly ... Difficult one to say the least. His obsession with Sonic has reached the point of undoable and unsavoury acts in the purpose of finding the said ‘real Sonic’, who realistically speaking; is still back at his original alternate part of the universe, potentially making him search for an ultimatum which he’ll never truly find. Let’s say you’re a self aware individual in this one who tagged along with him in order to potentially make the realisation set in that the work is not even worth it in the end, that it’s technically not even possible to begin with. You're against his plan and doings yet you still managed to steal his heart? Sneaky, sneaky little thing that you are.
While Tails back in Secret Histories would be a whole lot more careless, just wanting to be touchy with you and return all of the adoration he’s denied for such a long time, I cannot help but think the Tails in this position would be a whole lot more gentle with you; having lacked true companionship for such a long time, to believing he’d quite literally break you when truly giving in on what he actually desires. He adores you for you, he’s happened to learn a lot from your knowledge and truly appreciates your company, but he’s fearful in a way. He knows he could easily be one to just manipulate his way into the things he wants, but he knows it’s just as much fake if he literally has to break you in order to do so. You’d might as well be one another of the imposters he’s always despised so much and that’s honestly the last thing he’d wish to showcase you as.
Over time though, I can see him opening up a whole lot more and accepting the passion you’ve always offered with open arms after making a hundred percent sure it wouldn’t make a change on you in the slightest. I believe genuine benevolence and sympathy from another is what would slowly cause the fox to give up on finding this ‘real Sonic’ his head has been so desperate in creating. You’ll help him recover from his brainwashing trauma and let him very well known about the fact that he did not deserve anything that happened to him. He’s hesitant, but with you alongside him, I could finally see him putting this unrealistic fixation of his aside. Being unimaginably thankful for now gaining the love from somebody he’s yearned for for such a long time without gaslighting needing to be used nor potentially feeling the need to press a knife against the other’s throat in order for them to openly enjoy his company
Something on a sadder note, however, is how he’d likely gain these upsetting moments on how he cannot go back to either his true world due to the chaos he’s caused nor stay in any of the other dimensions because of them already having their own alternate versions of himself. To which you’re experienced in comforting the two tailed fox, but you however do not have an actual solution to the problem. You instead, help him consider making the best out of both of your positions in the multiverse. The two of you clumsily yet romantically dance your ways down together through the said ‘slide’, you sometimes end up entering other universes due to both of your curiosities getting the best of you, and you let him rant about the things he knows with a curious and interested expression on your face; there’s never really been anybody who listened to him in the way you have, so hearing the enthusiasm in his voice and sometimes even seeing his tails wag in excitement, honestly made everything worth it to you.

Bonus section : Similarities

A massive similarity that cannot go unnoticed is that both sides of them really wouldn't require much more than somebody who does genuinely love them but also happens to be strong enough to keep him restrained on healthy levels and keep up with any considerable obsessiveness he may show from time to time; so there’s suggested you carefully keep up to any hinted warnings in possessive behaviour and mannerisms. He’d be a whole lot more likely to stalk you during this process, wanting to keep a close eye open on both your safety and to prevent anybody else from pushing you into funny business. You’re his beautiful significant other and he shall go to intense levels to keep it that way, even if this includes in taking some sad bystander’s life cause they decided to corner you in a lustful manner without the slightest bit of consent even being given in the first place. And it’s not like he’d even be willing to believe you’d do such things with another to begin with, you’re too pure in his eyes.
Another concept for a fox character I wish to keep myself to, is the fact that they’re known to mate for life, which also just so happens to add in on atleast slight possessive behaviour on the both of them. Tails, in particular, works very well with explosives and any kinds of machinery work; so when taking notice upon anybody getting even the slightest bit too close for comfort, he certainly wouldn’t hesitate to use the malfunction excuse as a way in order to keep you accessible in the relationship. Hopefully you’d be one to prevent him from doing so as much as you possibly could though, as something that could cause bigger issues for your alliance in perhaps future occurrences would include not correcting him. He’d surely still be one to wrap his body around your own in a defensive manner, literally growling at the pedestrian oppositely of your own spot, but knowing how much he worships and looks up to you, he’d likely be one to listen on conditions of gaining enough reassurance over time and keeping a whole amount of your attention on him.
Despite how the sanity levels seem to dangerously be on the borderline of instability at some points of the relationship, I do remain to see him as atleast somewhat tameable. Due to the clinginess both versions of him hold, he’d be quite vulnerable to you in both positions aswell, almost feeling intimidated by you in a way. He worships your entire being and quite frankly views you as a godsend, feeling the need to prove himself in any way possible. At the end of the day, despite any of the flaws they may hold, from Secret Histories or TSAA, they’re both fairly passionate lovers and could genuinely be good ones as long as given a chance. He promises you’re truly in good hands- But even then, it remains important knowing what you’re potentially getting yourself into
as he sure as hell won’t let you go after your commitment.

☆ the truth unfolds
kunikida doppo x male reader [he / him]
sypnosis: [name] was an undercover spy at the armed detective agency. eventually, his motives for becoming a detective at the agency soon unfold and everyone knows the truth. kunikida happens to be the most devistated.. (meant to be viewed as romantic)

"how could you?!" kunikida yelled at you, furious by your actions. "i trusted you! i loved you!" he spat out, not being able to hold in his anger from you for any longer.
you happened to be an undercover spy at the armed detective agency. you worked for an underground organisation trying to get information about everyone and everything in the armed detective agency. you managed to get all of the information and you were about to give it to your boss, but it was too late.
the members of the agency found out using ranpo's ability. ranpo had his suspicions about you, but he decided to not say anything about you. then, a few months after you were accepted into the agency, ranpo decided to check up on you. you were exposed for being a liar, a fraud and a spy.
it was inevitable, of course. you knew about ranpo's 'ability' beforehand. people warned you about it, saying it's the greatest ability ever known to mankind or some other bullshit. yet, you were so naive. you still decided to go through with the job your boss gave you - infiltrate the armed detective agency and get all of the information you can. of course, you were found out.
you had grown close to practically all of the members of the agency. for the job, or your own satisfaction? nobody will know. however, you had gotten extremely close to the idealist - kunikida doppo.
you two spent practically every day together. whether it was on missions, working on reports or complaing about dazai - you two were together. the two of you were so close even that kunikida fell for you. he forgot about searching for an ideal woman because all he needed was you, his ideal man.
but of course, you were a spy and the word spread quick throughout the agency and kunikida found out.
"how could you?!" kunikida yelled at you, furious by your actions. "i trusted you! i loved you!" he spat out, not being able to hold in his anger from you for any longer.
you scoff as you hear kunikida's words. "why do you need to know about what i do with my life? you can go and play the good guy, but every good guy needs a bad guy to complete the story!" you yelled back of him. "i don't care if you trusted me or loved me, i don't feel the same! i never did." you lied, of course. you couldn't act vulnerable infront of kunikida. you couldn't tell h how you truly felt.
"you're not even a bad guy anymore." kunikida stands there with his fists clenched by his sides and his jaw tightened. he felt so heartbroken by what you did. he really though you were special, that maybe the two of you could've actually been something. "you're evil! horrible! despicable even! i can't believe you'd do something like that." he was still yelling at you, but this time tears were welling in his eyes and his voice was breaking.
"i really thought we had something, [name]. i thought that you felt the same as me.. but of course i was so naive and blinded by what i felt for you - love. compassion. two things you didn't have for any members of the agency. not a drop." tears were now flowing down kunikida's face. "i hate that i trusted you. i hate that i loved you." those were his last words to you.
all of the words kunikida said to you suddenly struck deep. you were in the wrong. you always were. yet, you also fell for him the same way he feels for you. but, you couldn't tell him that anymore. he hated you, along with the other members of the agency.
you chuckle slightly mockingly, realising the weight of your actions. "well.. i guess the truth unfolds eventually, doesn't it?"

the second installment of the little things series.

genre: cute, platonic, personal headcanons
you have a significantly different relationship with each of them, but none of them are lesser. it’s very obvious that the six of you have a very deep amount of love and respect for each other, and that doesn’t change. you have been through a lot with the support of each other, and also suffered together. there are so many moments to remember and choose from, but some of them just stick out more than the others.
YEONJUN
i just feel like you and yeoniun have a very funny relationship. He's definitely like your pretend sworn enemy. You'll joke together all the time. His favorite one to tell is that he raised you yet you constantly disrespect him. There is even a viral video of him talking to the camera about how you're his least favorite member because all he's done his best to teach you wrong from right and you just couldn't get it, and then immediately followed by clips him letting you do whatever you want, like putting random clips and pins all over his hair while he's talking.
He's notoriously known for lying about you lol. Notoriously known for pretending he's not soft for you. There are viral videos of things like him yelling about who ate his leftovers and being mad then seconds later soobin tells him it was you and he's just deflating and going, "just ask next time, I'll order you your own fresh."
He's also your favorite to prank yourself. It's always a war; he'll put salt in your drink, you'll saran wrap yeonjun's door so that he has to run through it to leave his room. If anyone ever asks about why yeonjun dyes his hair so much, you always say because you're sneaky and yeonjun doesn't buy his own shampoo. Despite all of that though, whenever anything goes too far, he is always the first to apologize
SOOBIN
Soobin best brother is my favorite agenda. He's very attentive and protective. Possibly a little overbearing but not in a "you can't be around anyone" way. He's just always concerned. He makes sure that even if you say you're fine that you pack a sweater or something when it is cold, always making sure your favorite snacks are stocked up.
He's kind of like your moral compass because he's definitely the one to be like "hey not tonight we have an event in the morning" and definitely makes you take care of yourself, but also, he does in fact lie for you in a heartbeat. one time yeonjun ran into his room covered in whipped cream, "where's y/n, I know she did this" and soobin just patted the pile of pillows under the blanket next to him and shook his head. "sorry to burst your bubble but she's been in here all night"
Coordinates matching outfits with you all the time. You probably steal his clothes claiming they will help in your mission to make your outfit iconic. Which..honestly you could tell him you needed it for any reason and he'd give it to you. Soobin is physically unable to tell you know unless it is a matter of your health. There are lots of videos of you wearing soobin's jacket whenever the stylists give you a dress or something. He's definitely the one to lay it over your lap when you're sitting
BEOMGYU
Gyu is a tough nut to crack. I think that you guys are probably shipped the most, but it's ironic because the usual shippable moments that fans latch on to either don't happen or are very lowkey the two of you are.. unique. For a better insight into your relationship with beomgyu, a list of viral moments/thins relating to your and your third oldest brother are:
You are constantly copying him. Most of the time it's not even direct or on purpose so most fans find it adorable how you're wearing the same outfit he wore two performances ago.
You jumping over a table to full body tackle him over a game of uno, him picking you up in the air by your ankle because he asked if you wanted to go somewhere and you said no so he literally took you anyways. Beomgyu going in for a hug only to turn it into a chokehold. The two of you sharing one blanket at a little campfire thing and him holding your hands to keep them warm. Beomgyu pouting and asking you to dye your hair to match him, you falling asleep with your head in his lap
The two most iconic moments that no one ever forgets, is when beomgyu said he was proud of you without knowing that a camera was filming, and when he was crying because his family was in the audience, and you just hugged him the entire time the guys were talking onstage. These are the famous moments because despite how much you two mess with each other it is obvious that you both love each other.
TAEHYUN
Very soft best friends. Lots of inside jokes, very hands on. It is far from uncommon for the two of you to be found giggling about something found totally mundane by anyone else. And when I say you guys are soft I mean it's literally like the famous dynamic between you both. Countless images of you guys being cute together are spread, first most shipped duo where you're concerned
He's an absolute sucker for you. Would let you get away with burning the world down and stop anyone trying to hinder you. Lets you practice things on his hair like braiding or pins. Whenever he buys something like food or a souvenir and you're not there you can always hear him mumbling to himself, "should I get y/n one?" usually then turns to ask kai for advice if he's there.
Tbh, would probably also egg on the shippers. Never in a way you're not comfortable with or is obvious, but he'll do things like hold your hand for extended periods of time, pat your head. One time, he had been extra bold and kissed you on the head and slid his hand into your back pocket. That little move is a rare occurrence, but he does it because he loves fueling the running joke of your being his girlfriend lol.
Also loves when you baby him and make him feel completely taken care of. You carry around extra water and snacks- or sometimes they're just for him and the way you remember little things he tells you always reminds him that even if he has no one else he has you.
HUENINGKAI
If you and Taehyun are soft best friends, you and kai are soft soulmates. He is your biggest fan, and I will in fact die upon this hill. He loves you so much, and he sees the way you go out of your way to care for literally everyone else, and he has enough people taking care of him. For every one thing you do for him he does three for you.
Carries around three hair ties on his wrist. If stylists say he has to take it off he makes sure to keep them in his pocket just in case. He has a pack of bobby pins and he bought you a jacket to match his favorite that he keeps in his bag for you. Has a list of all your favorites; movies, shows, snacks, colors, materials, restaurant orders. Has a list of things you hate that he keeps both on his phone and printed and posted on a wall in the kitchen so mistakes never happen. Ever since the great pumpkin fiasco of 2020.
Has previously sat with you in his lap, bundled up in his coat because you fell asleep. I think everyone who knows the two of you and like k-moa ship you, nit international fans think it's all platonic. Very touchy, finding moments where the two of you just so happen to be linking pinkies or high fiving each other while performing is like the moa equivalent to finding easter eggs in taylor swift songs.
I mean literally soulmates, whether platonic or romantic is yet to be found, but the two of you are attached at the hip, sharing the same brain cell and everything. Ironically, I think he would also be the most protective. He has sisters and after hearing about their struggles within their groups and knowing that things are already different for you as the only girl in an otherwise boy group, he tries to be like your advocate, wanting things to be easier for you.

What are your honest thoughts on all Descendants boys? From both books and movies?
Oehh that’s a good question! I’ll base most of this off of the movies because I remember them more clearly. Sorry this is so late, I needed some time to sort out my thoughts. Let’s see:
Ben: cutie, golden retriever energy, needs to grow a bit more of a spine but as a recovering doormat I vibe with him.
He’s got a good heart, and he’s definitely going places, but I have no idea who decided a 16-year-old should be king. Hilariously, he’s a better king than his dad because he cares about all of his people, not just the “heroes”. But still, he’s 16, let him have his dumbass teenage years. He’s still in his phase of wanting to please everyone and that isn’t gonna lead to the best decision making. You’re king, Ben, you can overrule your girlfriend’s selfish idiotic plan of closing the barrier. Just tell her “the barrier was opened for you to come through too. If those kids aren’t worth the risk, does that mean you aren’t either? Should we throw you back?!” And she’s change her tune real fast. You gotta give some tough love sometimes.
Jay: cool, I wanna know his gym routine, pretty funny but rash, needs Carlos to temper his brand of crazy (love their bromance).
I love the narrative parallels to the movie Aladdin. Jafar thought himself so far above a street rat and now he’s raised his son to be one so he can continue being a con-man. In the movies, Jay is actually a very accurate representation of your upbringing shaping you into who you are. All Jay knows is stealing, he’s never been taught to pay if he doesn’t have to, so to him stealing’s perfectly fine. It’s normal. It’s a lot more subtle than the whole “who doesn’t like being evil” bit, but the core idea is the same: when all you’ve ever known is one perspective, that’s gonna feel like the objective truth because you’ve never had a chance to try a different one.
Carlos De Vil: Best (movie) Boy, my baby, I love him. What a little nerd (affectionate).
He’s a big part of why I willfully ignore the absolute stupidity that is the third movie’s ending. I’m sorry Mal, wtf is wrong with you??? You set your supposed friend’s abuser free for nothing but some empty platitudes and dare suggest you’ve become an empathetic person?!?! In the books, we get a lot more insight into just how horrible of a mother Cruella is, but even in the movies we see he’s had it bad because of how jumpy and nervous he is. Disney is still Disney so we don’t get much of the healing process, but we see how he calms down and adjusts to a normal life over the course of the movies when he’s out of the bad situation, which is pretty good by Disney standards. Cameron Boyce did an amazing job playing him (R.I.P Cameron) and seeing an abuse victim get comfortable within their own skin and getting the happy ending they deserve is always fun.
Harry Hook: Insane (affectionate), most fashionable drama queen ever, absolutely crazy, more than a few screws loose but in the best way possible, he’s hilarious.
So on the surface, Harry’s pretty simple. A dude who’s lost his marbles and flirts with everyone. He probably has some kind of moral compass, since he didn’t rip Mal’s throat out with his hook when she revealed her little stunt in D3, but it fell overboard at some point and couldn’t be found so nobody knows what it is except Harry himself. Also, he has his sane moments, like during that same confrontation in D3 I mentioned before where he says “And you, King Benny... you're probably gonna throw us all back inside.” It’s the first time I’ve heard him sound… not like Harry. It’s sombre and defeated, a little disappointed maybe? Either way it’s really good acting and it implies he can act completely “normal” but he just chooses not to, which makes me like him even more. He’s just a dude living his best life despite the circumstances he was born into.
Gil: adorable, hilarious, kinda clueless but in a good way.
I love characters that have no idea what’s going on half the time but are absolute sweethearts trying their best. He’s like- the opposite of his dad in every way and I’m living for it!
Gaston Jr and Gaston the third: I don’t have much to say on them, let alone separately, so they get a section together.
Honestly? I don’t remember having an opinion of them. They made Evie happy by wresting, which is cool so they get points for that. Seem like they’re trying to out-gentleman each other to win Evie’s heart and since they’re not being creepy assholes about it they are objectively better than their dad. Very much brawl over brains, the two of them, with their constant wrestling reminding me of Carlos and Jay except they’re both the muscle. Kinda cute sibling relationship, even if it’s in a VK-typical villain-flavored way.
Anthony Tremaine: squeeeee, my type is pretty boys who sigh in annoyance at everything, I guess? We only get scraps but I happily cradle them to my chest.
Uhmmm so Anthony’s personality is mostly up for imagination? The only canon information we have is that he’s most likely Anastasia’s only kid (someone on Tumblr pointed out that, in the scene with the wicked step-daughters, he’s referred to only as their cousin, not their brother) and he’s very bored with his cousins’ antics. Given A Twist In Time the potential drama is endless. Every time Anthony’s mentioned we’re reminded he’s pretty and has good style, and I love that for him. Dude lives on an isle of junk and still looks like a supermodel. Lots of room for my own ideas while still remaining within the realm of “could be canon” with just enough base in there that I’m not just creating an OC, and as a writer and artist that’s all I need tbh.
Hadie: cute, deserves better, I need more of him and Mal bonding
Mal’s half-brother, son of Hades, very cool. I like that he’s trying to turn good and having a hard time, because that’s very realistic for someone who grew up not knowing anything other than evil. Descendants 2 tried to tackle it with Mal, but failed miserably. We know Hades sucks as a parent in descendants (neglect is abuse) so that’s not gonna help him.
Dough: Awww he’s so cute with Evie 🥺
No really that’s it. He’s a nerd that gets the girl, has some very funny moments, but honestly most of his character is centered around Evie? And they’re cute together it’s not a bad thing but there isn’t much to analyze. He’s understandably pissed about someone like Chad getting all the girls while using them, but that’s also only ever seen in relation to Evie.
Chad Charming: what a bitch (derogatory), total coward, I hate him but he’s funny.
So I have no issue with characters who conduct themselves terribly (I love Audrey, (fanon) Anthony, Uma, and many others from many fandoms) if, and that’s a massive IF, they have a good reason for it. And I’ll count “because I can and I want to” as a good reason, because by that point you have someone who’s mean and owns it. I can appreciate the self-awareness and usually those characters are very extra so it’s entertaining. If not that, there needs to be a reason they are the way they are. Audrey has the pressure from her grandmother (and the borderline verbal abuse), Uma has the very real grievance of living in squalor on a run-down island full of the worst of humanity because she was born, what does Chad have? He’s spoiled. A spoiled brat. And he goes from that to an overtly whimpering coward with none of the pretense of superiority in any field. His one saving grace is that he’s a massive joke.
Diego De Vil, Clay Clayton, Gonzo, Jace and Harry Badun, Herkie, Aziz, Jonas, Lefou Deux, Li Shang Jr, everyone else I missed: no opinion, because they’re not relevant enough for the writers to give them a personality.
I have nothing I’m sorry. I barely remember reading their names and I don’t remember anything from the scenes they’re (mentioned) in to get an idea of what to talk about here.

Bruce Willis’ family has announced the actor’s condition has progressed to Frontotemporal Dementia nearly a year after retiring due to aphasia.
As a family, we wanted to take this opportunity to thank you all for the outpouring of love and compassion for Bruce over the past ten months. Your generosity of spirit has been overwhelming, and we are tremendously grateful for it. For your kindness, and because we know you love Bruce as much as we do, we wanted to give you an update.
Since we announced Bruce’s diagnosis of aphasia in spring 2022, Bruce’s condition has progressed and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (known as FTD). Unfortunately, challenges with communication are just one symptom of the disease Bruce faces. While this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis.
FTD is a cruel disease that many of us have never heard of and can strike anyone. For people under 60, FTD is the most common form of dementia, and because getting the diagnosis can take years, FTD is likely much more prevalent than we know. Today there are no treatments for the disease, a reality that we hope can change in the years ahead. As Bruce’s condition advances, we hope that any media attention can be focused on shining a light on this disease that needs far more awareness and research.
Bruce always believed in using his voice in the world to help others, and to raise awareness about important issues both publicly and privately. We know in our hearts that – if he could today — he would want to respond by bringing global attention and a connectedness with those who are also dealing with this debilitating disease and how it impacts so many individuals and their families.
Ours is just one family with a loved one who suffers from FTD, and we encourage others facing it to seek out the wealth of information and support available through AFTD (@theaftd, theaftd.org). And for those of you who have been fortunate enough to not have any personal experience with FTD, we hope that you will take the time to learn about it, and support AFTD’s mission in whatever way you can.
Bruce has always found joy in life – and has helped everyone he knows to do the same. It has meant the world to see that sense of care echoed back to him and to all of us. We have been so moved by the love you have all shared for our dear husband, father, and friend during this difficult time. This is for the KinnPorsche fandom, since I think most of my active followers know me from there. 🙂
2. Compelling argument as to why my fave would never top or bottom:
Hmmm, this one is a bit hard for a couple reasons. For one, I don't have one definitive favorite. I actually enjoy/appreciate a lot of the characters for different reasons so it is hard to narrow it down to one, singular character. For another, I feel like all of the characters could go vers under the right conditions, and I don't think it matters when it comes to who tops or bottoms. But I will go with two characters who I struggle to see as potentially vers.
Kim: I feel like Kim (at least in the show) struggles with relinquishing control, but also needs someone he trusts to take over. Personally, I think he needs someone he loves and trusts to have sex at all. While topping does not always equal control (and bottoming doesn't always equal submission), I think many mistake it as such. To me, if he found the right person to take that step with, he would likely show that devotion through a willingness to bottom. He struggles with words, so this is the next best thing: Letting someone take care of him and trusting them not to hurt him - something that is very hard for him to do otherwise.
Kinn: I wouldn't necessarily call Kinn a fave, but I have compassion for him and I find him very interesting. I struggle with seeing him bottom. The thing is, I don't struggle with seeing Porsche top. If Porsche found someone more vers, I think he would be down for either role. However, I also think Kinn’s rigidity in these roles also stems from a struggle to relinquish control. However, I think his control issues are much more pronounced due to his position. While he goes soft for Porsche and clearly adores him, he has been trained to be a leader, masculine, tough, etc. Despite Korn accepting his sons and their sexualities, the environment Kinn was not only raised in, but trained to lead is a breeding ground for toxic masculinity and not getting too close and comfortable with people - even those you should be close and comfortable with. Taking that into account and the fact his first known significant love betrayed him, I feel like he would really struggle opening himself up enough to bottom, even with Porsche. He would most likely CONSIDER it for Porsche and I don't completely rule it out, but it would be a struggle for him to get to that point.
12. The unpopular character I really like:
“Like” may be a strong word, but I find Korn and Gun FASCINATING. I would eat up an entire prequel series about these brothers. Gun is an abusive father, Korn appears to be a passive and kind one, yet Gun sees his brother as pure evil. While I don't necessarily think Korn is 100% evil, I truly believe he has less of a conscience than Gun does. Gun manipulates and beats his oldest son. He stabs one of the guards and has him beheaded posthumously. We witness those things because we are SUPPOSED to be on the major family side and see them as the much lesser evil. The thing is, they aren't, and I believe Korn is the colder and more sadistic one in the scheme of things, even while being an accepting father who probably genuinely loves his sons on some level. Both Gun and Korn are guilty of terrible crimes. They have had the same traumas passed down to them by their likely terrible father, but emerged from that trauma as very different people.
I read Gun as someone who is perpetuating the abuse he likely suffered as a child. He is not a born villain. Korn was older, and likely calmer and more level-headed. He was assigned as heir, while Gun was the spare. Gun used the comparison of Korn and their father as a way to compare their capacity for evil. It is the only time in the show Korn genuinely looks taken aback and offended. It's subtle, but it's there. They both likely suffered at the hands of this man and were traumatized by whatever crimes he committed, but Korn never passed that down and hit his sons. As for Gun, he never killed his foster brother-in-law, faked the deaths of his foster sisters and her sons, and kept said foster sister as a prisoner for years and years (unless you believe Korn’s story about Gun killing Pat, which I don't).
Anyway, I don't LOVE them, but I wish more fic writers explored their complexities.
14. The one thing I see in fics all the time:
ABO. I get that it's popular, and I will admit some aspects of it are kind of hot. But I feel like the dynamic taking over the whole environment and twisting it into something strongly dependent on these roles in society is what keeps me from ever seeking it out. Despite that, it comes up a lot in so many fandoms. I might still watch PitBabe though, since the acting looks good from what little I have seen.
17. There should be more type of this fic/art:
I have a list!
Crack fics, preferably crack treated seriously/semi-seriously. I want some high quality works that suck me in and make me laugh in this fandom. There are some great ones, but not enough. I need MORE.
One half of the couple believing the other half is dead (but are they?) I need to see KinnPorsche, VegasPete, ArmKhun, KimChay, etc going through that angst.
Brotherly bonding fics. I love writing sibling dynamics and exploring them, likely because I was deprived of one and grew up feeling pretty isolated due to my home situation. So I really would love to see more fics putting a strong focus on one or more sets of siblings.
18. The fandom has been sleeping on:
ArmKhun. It's somewhat recognized, but I need more people to open their eyes! Arm is so soft with him (with the exception of pushing Khun towards Pete’s ghost, but Khun did throw his effigy in the fire). He calmly and gently explains plot points of shows Khun misses. He is the first one to offer physical comfort. He knows how to get his mind off of things. As for Khun, he seems to trust Arm so much. If you look at them closely, Arm is the first one he often gravitates towards for physical comfort when he is feeling anxious. He also chose to stay with him rather than in a safe room or off the property during the attack.
The mothers. I want their backstories, I need to know how the Theerapanyakuls feel about them. All we have is Kinn saying he is more like his mother before shooting a man in the head, and Vegas looking heartbroken when Gun says he is stupid like his mother.
Namphueng. The woman was locked up for close to twenty years and even in the best written fics I have read, she is often a background player. There is so much potential to explore memory and speech loss, disability, regaining some memories and independence if the story allows, her rebuilding a relationship with her sons and interacting with the others, etc.
21. What part of canon do I think is overhyped?
Initially, I would have said KimChay. They didn't pull me in first watch. I didn't hate their storyline, but I wish it was a little more interwoven into the main plot, and part of me still does. However, they really did pull me in when I watched it again, and now I guess I write about them the most. Still odd to me, but I find them to be really interesting when exploring them in fic.
Now? I really couldn't tell you. I guess I would have to look into everything else that is hyped up and go from there.
22. My favorite part of canon everyone else ignores:
I don't know if everyone ignores it, but I love that Arm is working multiple guard positions? Boy does surveillance, builds and distributes weapons, designs high tech spy gear, and goes on missions with Kinn (which is sort of dumb in hindsight because he is one of the main people holding that compound together). On top of that, he was the first one to tend to Big when he was shot, implying he has some medic or strong first aid knowledge, led the clean up crew after Tawan set off the bomb, and then built bombs of his own for the attack on the compound later on.
He does all of this, and still manages to be a guard to Tankhun, who is likely the safest yet most emotionally demanding family member. And he seems committed to that position. I am sure Arm could easily be removed from Tankhun's team. He has plenty of other work demands, and he better be the highest paid guard other than Chan. Yet he chooses to stay with Khun along with taking on all of those duties. Hm. Love that for him though.

Wished they were taken more seriously, but won't deny some of their episode were my favorites by far (especially OP T.R.I.P). Less because of the gags they thrown them in, but rather we do finally see glimpses of their own personalities cause up until then there rlly wasnt much on them besides them failing and falling out a whole damn window all the time xxbdj honestly, that calls into question how resistant these guys are holy shit
The sister(if anyone got any name suggestions for them plz tell so I can steal them too/j), is fed UP, and I love her for it, cause with the amount of shit she's face i'd go fucking insane too. I vote we should give her gun, all her problems would be solved/j but actually, i enjoy that she's a little shit, impulsive, arrogant, etc, but i think it kinda stems from a fear of failure because how else would they've been known as father's bestest spies? Sector V had knocked down a pedestal, and that fucks with her head, but then their failures began to pile up and now she's becoming increasingly desperate to prove that she's still somehow #1– in turn she because implusive, impatient, etc. Sbe 100% cares for her brother, so at the same time she feels like she's dragging him down, it all piles on. Maybe a vaca would do her some good.
The brother, I absolutely adore him – tbh I adore both of them equally. He seems more like the younger of the two in terms of personality, we seem always following his sister's lead despite how irrational it could be. His loyalty and compassion to her is something that kinda pushes him to being my fav twin spot, cuz well im a sucker for good brother characters. And despite his more "softer" attuide compared to his sister's, they're both evil and flawed equally on the same level ‐ mo manipulation or pressure(well kind), nah-da. As the brother is just as implusive, selfish, and arrogant, but he hasn't let their failure get to his head just yet – in turn, he has more clearer head than his sister, so he ends becoming a voice of reason than a leader.

It's pretty popular theory that they're delightful, which is something I think about a LOT when it comes to their characters. And a bit more headcanon here: their non-delightful selves are still conscious, as to me(inspired heavily by my SS au with a friend), being delightful serves as just a filter for kids. Kinda like you feel the urge to chuck a plate, but because you're delightful, it's like a parasite keeping your hands folded in your lap, controlling your behaviors and words.
And they both don't like that their delightful-selves are fighting against old comrades because they were probably ex-KND operatives. perhaps got caught during a mission in Father's mansion, and faded to obscurity in KND history. Either that, or maybe they were father's first delightful experiments? Before the DCFDTL? Maybe that's why they aren't as insync as the DCFDTL, cuz you'd think them being related by blood would strength that bond.
Honestly, i just want an AU where they're happy:))

What is the devil's nature anyway?
Let's talk about what the so-called "devil's nature" is and what traits are inherent in devils. We know from the manga that devils usually have some sort of instinct to dislike humans. That's all by now. The problem is that devils are just as intelligent beings as humans (perhaps more intelligent, considering that Darkness Devil has gained some great wisdom over his long life, I don't know). They are capable of learning and drawing conclusions based on their experiences and knowledge, and they are not animals following their instincts, because if that were the case, Chainsaw Man would be a completely different manga. In general, devils here have the same free will as humans.
I've seen a lot of people convinced that devils are some kind of plain evil, devoid of any kind of virtues simply because that's what they are, despite the fact that this is completely contrary to what is shown in the manga. Compassion, remorse, selflessness and love are called by many as something alien to them.
We have Angel Devil, who blamed himself so much for the deaths of people that they appeared in his nightmares, and who formed strong bonds first with the villagers and then with Aki. Then we have Power, who we were able to fully watch go from the point where she didn't care about anyone, including herself, to the point where she desperately does everything she can to save the person she cares about. Nayuta was also willing to sacrifice himself to ensure the safety of a human she loved. Makima shows some degree of remorse, despite the fact that her environment wasn't even dispositioned to develop such feelings (I don't think she could have been insincere in the beach scene, since Aki and Angel Devil were already under her control and it didn't make sense for her to manipulate them). In fact, it's in regards to Makima that I most often come across nonsense like "well, they're devils, obviously they're inherently bad" as fandom struggles with the idea of her not being universally evil, but that would also mean that characters like Power and Angel Devil are no different, and I don't think the same people would like that. Now that we've got that out of the way, how can all these traits not be an integral part of the "devil's nature" if devils have the natural potential to develop them?
It's also a common idea that devils are killing machines obsessed with genocide, but in Nayuta's example, we see, we see that devils may not even like killing at all. The manga often shows that even unfriendly devils' first reaction to humans isn't always to kill them.
Finally, we come to the individual devil's nature. Like I said, disliking humans is literally the only known thing the devils can share with each other, according to the manga. So I roll my eyes every time I read something along the lines of "wow, Nayuta chose Denji's happiness above her own, she defeated her Control Devil nature". I mean, what do we even know about the "Control Devil nature"? Some attribute Nayuta's innate tendency toward dictatorial behavior or possessiveness, but I don't see the point in considering it anything more than fanfiction until the manga itself points out that such things take place. What then is Famine Devil nature? Eating sweets for five? It's more like people jump to premature conclusions on their own, and then when they don't match reality run to write nonsense about "nature vs nurture", an idea that has already been horribly twisted by fandoms.
Yes, of course, devils in general are very dangerous for humans, and in the war with them (part two calls it that), countless numbers become victims. Still, devil characters in manga are just as complex as human characters, and I find it very reductive to try to simplify them in this way. The author has already humanized the devils enough for us to ignore it.

star trek update time. last night we did the maquis parts 1 & 2 because i simply did not want to deal w tng.
the maquis (ds9)
standout moment for me in this entire two-parter was sisko's speech. ESPECIALLY good that in a fit of frustration he delivers it to kira and kira alone, whomst he maybe did shout a little bit at earlier because tensions were so high, and then he has the grace to look embarrassed and say he's glad someone understands. like it was the EXACT same thing she was yelling about earlier and he didn't take her as seriously as he might have, like, not in a delegitimizing way, but in a way that says he hasn't experienced that kind of helpless frustration for himself. and then he got to experience just the tiniest slice of what kira has and he Got It. you know?
ALSO SOOO TRUE THE PROBLEM IS EARTH!!!! it's easy to be a saint when you live in utopia. quark had a similar speech earlier in this series about how humans are friendly and wonderful when they have full bellies and working holosuites and they turn vicious without them. ds9 knows whats up
it's tempting to blame all this on picard but while picard did NOT act with honor the true villain is the nameless faceless politician that decided this would be a good boundary to draw and absolutely no one would have any problems with it. it's weird to me, in the age of constantly calling our government officials to make sure they don't cancel healthcare or tell them to stop bombing people, that no one would try to get to the bottom of this and figure out which person they're supposed to call to tell them it was a dumb idea and demand they change it. like, the border is drawn like this, it's an immutable fact of life and it's not gonna change. it feels so weird
anyway, kira was GREAT in this episode. she has so much to be angry about and so much she wants to give to make sure nobody has to suffer what she did. like she's so passionate about it and it comes from a place of love or at least compassion and it's such a nice detail. that she's so angry all the time because of love. man. she's so great
i recognized one of the maquis guys from tng i think! well, i'm bad with faces but it was at least one of the same costumes. i'm so sorry dude rip

should have known hudson was a villain bc he asked inappropriate questions about dax. however, it was funny that sisko laughed off the idea of them sleeping together when they fucked twins or whatever

what i love about the ethical debate is that theyre both right. the maquis are right because the new border IS shit. it IS unfair and they DID get abandoned to the tender mercies of the cardassians, who are sure as shit not gonna let them stay there unbothered (that tng episode painting this as a happy ending...AS IF). like, they have every right to defend themselves since no one else is gonna do it
but sisko is ALSO RIGHT because escalating the conflict into full-blown warfare is gonna get even MORE people killed and make things even MORE miserable for the colonies affected, who have already been through more than enough. the colonists can make life harder for the cardassians, just like the bajorans did, but they can't actually win a war, they can only drive themselves into the ground doing it. at BEST they will make some nameless faceless border-drawer think twice the next time they draw a border
like, that's why i'm so shocked nobody suggested calling the politicians to making them redraw it. it's the only third option?!?!
quark and the vulcan was so funny. shoot your shot, buddy, even though you lost the love of your life two episodes ago. i was a little insulted he managed to out-logic her, but also reluctantly impressed. quark is always entertaining, i just wish he had a LITTLE more depth.
gul dukat...i admit i never gave him a second thought before this episode. now i am reaffirmed in my belief that all cardassians are gay. he exhibits such an energy. i really liked the part where he put the fear of god into the weapons runner even though sisko was ready to sit on him to keep him from touching the torpedo controls. such a fun dynamic for him to be going "murder? :D?" and for sisko to be playing straight man and yanking him down by the scruff of his neck every 5 minutes. fun fun fun. i do think he should have kept his mouth shut when he and kira were in the same room though. like i think he should have just chosen to not speak unless prompted.
i like how twice odo's ability to maintain security at the station was called into question and both times sisko was like oh absolutely not. and even still, the tension was nearly enough to cause in-fighting in what has become a pretty friendly group. it's both surprising and unsurprising how quickly they drew the battle lines, but even the non-federation people, kira and odo, snapped at each other. LITERALLY CALL THE POLITICIANS. EARTH IS THE PROBLEM
my one real nitpick is that i don't think it should be possible to resist a mind meld with "discipline." like, it's more interesting if cardassians have a special immunity, or if this particular vulcan is bad at it. i just don't buy that gul dukat happens to be that cool, it's too convenient. why bring up the mind meld at all in that case
otherwise 10/10 i had a fantastic time

Death (or lack thereof) on the Isle of the Lost
The Descendants wave is still on for me and I have to take this thing out of my mind so I can (hopefully) go back to do irl things I actually have to do.
So, the Isle of the Lost. We (the fandom) already talked about many things, but there is one that always makes me ponder, aka the supposed mortality rate.
A lot of fanwriters/headcanoners and so forth insert the death of parents for many Isle kids, but how is it possible, I wonder, that Villains were brought back to life, only to die again? Then why bringing them back to begin with? Let them stay dead!
Unless there was a reason for it. Unless the Villains had already escaped death in the first place (like they did in the webseries Villain’s Lair) OR there was a concrete chance someone on their side could bring them back (and here I call back to Nasira, she’s been the culprit in my top tier headcanon until some time ago).
I already mentioned the Auradon Handbook hints that the Villains briefly ruled the world and there was a Heroes’ revolt to defeat them again, so it’s likely the Beast was elected King in one of the most ancient ways, aka for prowess on the battlefield.
And, if the Heroes had already killed their Villains in the past, and had to fight them again, then it’s likely there was a lot of fear going around it could happen again. Another war, more fights in the lands, more chances of the Villains taking control.
The Isle was made for this, to keep everyone in with no way out, not even death. Because death, for some Villains, is reversible. Because them being alive in seclusion was safer than having them dead.
What does it have to do with the Isle’s mortality rate, you ask? Everything. It means the Barrier very likely doesn’t allow Villains to die, hence no mortality rate in there, not for them.
Now, that would poise a problem, aka the Villains believing themselves invincible. “How to force them to keep each other in check?” someone must have been thinking during the planning.
Through the single thing more dangerous than despair: hope.
Follow me: some of the princesses (and perhaps a certain Fairy) likely thought that if Villains had their own kids to care for, their flesh and blood to protect and nurture, they’d learn love and the value of life and compassion (”even Villains love their kids” echoes very strong here, no?). Very nice, I guess, although a tad too idealistic. Someone with a bit more, uh, common sense may think that as a harsher punishment, not as a chance for redemption. Someone a bit less kind may say: you made us suffer, now watch as the one you may love suffers too, with the little inkling of hope they one day could break you out just to escape the misery. Learn compassion through pain.
Therefore the possibility geriatric characters had children. And one may argue men’s fertility has phases during their lives and older men can still procreate, but women? Once menopause hits, it’s done, no more babies. And yet! Yzma, arguably the oldest of the oldest female villains - biologically - has not one but two children. TWO! I always found it so very weird and the only explanation is that the Barrier’s system is even more cruel than it seemed at first sight, that it kept the Villains in good enough health to allow this for a precise aim.
Because adults can’t die, children can. Children did. All the deaths on the Isle are in the second generation.
Let that sink in. It’s impossible that children are equally immune to death because, otherwise Mal would have known she couldn’t drown when she and Uma were little, or the kids would be a lot more reckless than they are, therefore children can face death, that’s a fact. Perhaps the Barrier keeps them in better health than the living conditions would realistically allow, but death is still a real possibilty for Isle kids.
At the same time, adults can’t die, we said, but how to make sure they won’t ignore the need to protect their perspective progeny (especially before it existed) and go on bloody sprees against each other?
And here comes my idea. Adults can’t die on the Isle, but they can feel the wounds, suffer from the illnesses, feel the pain just as strongly and, in case of lethal situations, since they can’t die, they suffer a thing a few princesses did: a sleeping spell, or rather, a coma-like living death, with some perception of the outside, but no real consciousness nor ability to act. Fear of that would be enough to restrain even the most calloused Villains, especially the ones who are obsessed with control because what can be worse than not having control on their own selves for them?
There’s one more thing I headcanon the Barrier does, and it’s that it mellows the Villains’ minds. I already talked a bit about in the post mentioned above, so I won’t delve into this again, the point is that the weakening of the Villains from a mental point of view can be the Barrier’s doing. Why? It’s possibly the only measure put forth to prevent a too high body count for the kids, other than prevention in the remote possibility they might get out. Because, if the Villains are scatterbrained and uncaring and less evil overall, the kids have better chances of survival, and if they are less cunning they are easier to defeat (evidence of this? I’ll give you one that speaks for itself: Maleficent mistaking the fridge for a safe and being unable to open it).
OR it ould be that every time they should have had a death, they wake up from their coma a little less than they were. A little less smart, a little less quick, a little less elegant, less fearsome, less anything. The more time they “die“ the more is taken from them. As an unpredicted aftereffect of cheating death.
And, ooops, this is a lot darker than I anticipated when I eleborated the idea in my head.

god i really liked the ending to fionna and cake... i can't stop thinking about it each time i go back and run it through my mind i pick out different things that they did to set things up. and i'm coming at the show from the perspective of someone who really liked simon as a kid and always found him interesting and also just fucking loves sad men in general so. there's your context. it's a show about him being able to come to terms with the fact that he served a positive role in someone's life but that people and circumstances change and he needs to let things move on and come to terms with how things are in the present and accept the future instead of just living in the past, right. i mean he's living in a goddamn display of how things used to be back in the day.
more than that though there's marceline at the beginning of the show off getting a tattoo which is one of the quintessential "oh, she's not my little girl any more!" parenthood moments. we see the mess that she's in in the star where she didn't learn compassion growing up and is trapped in her toxic doomed yuri spiral. we see the winter king who actively warns simon from creating an ice-betty and yet he made himself an ice-marceline who's forever a child stuck there with him, who melts when he dies. we have the setup and proof that marceline is better off for having known and spent time with simon but proof as well that he needs to be able to let her grow up. (to sidebar with marshall, you can contrast it to his mom who wants to be this big controlling part of his life and... that's honestly why i don't feel mad about marcy not being in the finale.) same with fionna and cake - only by taking them out of his mind and letting them be in their own world and do their own thing without his "protection" and his magic as a crutch are they able to make their world their own and have it canonized. it's him giving up the chase he's been on his whole life with the crown by throwing it into the void and moving on because it doesn't mean anything anymore, there's no purpose in it, it served its time and that time is over now. it's everything with him and betty where you can't change things but you don't regret the time that you spent together. you might change the specifics but you wouldn't change being able to know someone and be in their life.
we can take it meta and say that setting this with fionna and cake is a play to our nostalgia as viewers and that fionna having grown up and become her own person apart from how she was in adventure time the show is doing something similar to us. i think that viewpoint of being in the present and accepting things as they are is something that feels so adventure time to me; in the same breath that itself makes it feel nostalgic. there are so many points in this show where i caught myself thinking "wow, that really felt like what watching adventure time felt like back in school" which i guess could have kind of been the point. being able to see these characters come to some kind of new closure was closure for me.
to be able to hold love in your heart for something or someone that served a time and place in your life but that you've since moved on from or grown away from is healthy and good and not shown nearly as much as i would like! i think it's important. it really made me happy to see that as the angle they decided to go with. everything can have a time and place. and we can move on.

What made you ship it?
Reading The Killing Joke at the ripe old age of eight. My mother thought comics were for kids and bought me a big ass "essential Batman stories" book, which started out with The Killing Joke and it rewired my brain I guess (my Batman experience up to that point had been random episodes of Batman Beyond).
What are your favorite things about the ship?
I reckon I'm going to go on a bit of a tangent here. Sorry Anon I don't suppose this was the answer you were hoping for, but I am unable to contain myself :>
So being that this is my first DC ship (and it might even be my first ship PERIOD), I'm more of a "I nostalgically ship it from afar" than an active, fanfiction-reader/writer kind of fan, but surely my enjoyment has always been rooted in the fact that it's a villain/hero situation where they're two sides of the same coin, at the point where they can't exist without one another.
I ship Batman with 50% of his rogue gallery tbh, and unless it's just 'cause it looks hot, it tends to be about how Bruce tries to see the human side of these people (sometimes because he's known them since before they were rogues), how he extends a helping hand when he can, how he refuses to kill them because there has to be a way to rehabilitate them (and sometimes there is, and it's just the tragic nature of these stories which prevents the "rogues" from getting their own form of happy ending).
This happens with the Joker too, and the most memorable occasion in which this happens is after Joker tortured and crippled Barbara (someone Bruce is supposed to love and care for), beside what he also does to Jim Gordon (also someone Bruce is supposed to be friends with). Joker himself tells Batman more or less "I hurt a defenseless girl, I terrorized an old man, what are you waiting for just beat the shit out of me" to which BRUCE SAYS NO. He says no because "you're just like me except you had one bad day too many, and I know you can get better, and I want to help you".
We all know how The Killing Joke ends, with the proverbial joke and them laughing like maniacs about it (I have the panels always around so yall can experience them with me)
And the image of them laughing together is forever seared into my brain, especially because even if this guy did whatever the hell he did (and will keep doing it), Bruce replied with empathy and compassion.
A monster, the irredeemable one who's never going to stop before anything because he's not even human, at this point he's the embodiment of everything wrong there can be in a person - he just got smothered with compassion and it almost worked. The "joke" (two madmen escape the loony bin, etc) is Joker's way to say "I'm sorry I really want to take your hand but I can't, I just can't do it", and Bruce understands this and for a brief moment of six panels it's just two friends laughing together. And that part of me which will always see itself in the ugly, irredeemable, rejected monster was and will always be so profoundly fulfilled by this.
Of course I am also not immune to the whole "you need me, you love me and you can't live without me" thing to which Batman reacts by kicking and screaming that it's not true, but which is indeed true and in every story in which Joker actually dies, Bruce cannot for the love of him cope one single day without him. This post puts it briefly but beautifully, go give it a look if you're rabid a fan of the dynamic such as I am.
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
Liking this ship (and Joker in general) is unpopular in and of itself lol, but I guess I can say that my unpopular preference is that as much as I ship them, I don't see sex involved in any part of their relationship which is more based off of beating the shit out of each other (or laughing about a dumbass joke in a stormy night in an abandoned amusement park), and being unable to let the other go when the chance presents itself. I see sex as essentially unnecessary in their dynamic, but it's also true that I don't really peruse Batjokes content beside the occasional fanart, so the sex part might have just not clicked with me yet.

King Kal-el of Krypton waits impatiently for the man he left back on Earth.

He had left everything behind. His people sung his praises and honored his sense of sacrifice. They revelled in telling his tragic love story: a lost son of Krypton on a foreign planet; a life spent unaware of his royal heritage; a man with the same vocation helping him build a better world; a love born out of mutual respect and deep trust. But then his people called for him, for they needed a leader of the House of El, and so he came, leaving behind his love and his life on Earth. A beautiful story.
Kal never told them the truth. He never would have left had Bruce not asked him. He did not do it out of duty. He did it out of love. He had never understood why Bruce had been ready to sacrifice their love.
"We will see each other again, Clark," Bruce had promised.
Kal had held onto that promise like a lifeline. They would see each other once more. In the meantime Kal had married a noblewoman he respected, though he had no fondness for her. He could see in her eyes that she loved him, and the fact he could not even spare her some affection kept him up at night sometimes. Even the birth of their children did not bring him closer to her. When he would see Bruce again, then he'd have closure. Perhaps, then, he would be able to love her.
A delegation of the Justice League called. Kal had felt his heart ready to burst. Finally, Bruce had come to see him! Finally, they would see each other. And perhaps, though Kal knew this was only a wishful folly, Bruce would stay here with him. Perhaps he would help him rule, Kal having always relied on his steadfast compassion and strong values to navigate the turbulent times they had gone through.
The spaceship docked, and Kal sprung forward, uncaring of protocol and etiquette. Batman emerged like a dark angel out of Paradise, and Kal would have kissed him right here and there. He went to him, hugging him tightly, breathing into his smell.
Kal froze.
A dawning horror crept on him as he staggered backward.
"No," he choked out.
It was a nightmare, a bad dream from which he was going to wake up. Batman looked uneasy.
"Hello Kal," he said with a different voice (a wrong voice). "It's been a long time."
"Who are you?" he asked (he pleaded, please be Bruce, where is Bruce).
"I- I'm Nightwing. Dick? You remember me, yes?"
He pushed back the cowl, but like in a dream, Kal did not recognize the young man he had known: this Dick was nearing middle age.
An awful, dreadful realization descended upon him, like a great cold wave sweeping him off to the abyss.
"No," Kal whispered. "Nonononononono."
Dick looked at him with great sorrow, having known ever since he had stepped foot in this spacecraft what kind of shock he would give to the man once called Superman.
"I am so, so sorry Kal," he said slowly, carefully.
"No!" he bellowed, reality catching up with him.
Bruce had lied. Bruce didn't come.
(Bruce was dead.)
He had promised him. He had told him they would see each other once more.
Bruce, you liar.
History would later pinpoint this encounter as the descent of King Kal-El the Mad into tyranny. They would say that his paramour had broken his heart by refusing to stay. Some, more astute, would point out that perhaps it was simply that King Kal-El realized to his detriment that time did not pass the same way on Krypton that it did on Earth. For all their speculations, it did not change the fact that the man who had once been the hope of his people had become the worst tyrant they had ever known.
