"The truth is," Colin said, tugging on her hand and pulling her close, "I'm rather proud of you." She felt herself smiling, and it was so strange, because just a few moments earlier, she couldn't imagine ever smiling again. He leaned down until his nose touched hers. "I want everyone to know how proud I am of you. By the time I'm through, there won't be a single person in London who doesn't recognize how clever you are."
Colin Bridgerton wouldn’t, “dream of courting Penelope Featherington,” because he’s too busy dreaming of being alone with her in her bedroom, touching her and doing things to her in front of a mirror.
Don’t mind me, I’m just imagining a scenario where Lady Danbury fixes up that little cabin where she and Lord Ledger used to meet. And when there’s a period where something has driven Penelope & Colin apart and they’re clearly miserable without each other so Lady Danbury and one of (if not all of) the Bridgertons work together to devise a plan for Penelope & Colin to meet there, each believing they were meeting someone else who they needed to speak to, only to realize they’ve been tricked into speaking to each other and they reconcile and it’s their little love nest for an afternoon.
The one thing about Polin that absolutely cracks me up, is the quote:
"I would never dream of courting Penelope Featherington. Not in your wildest fantasies, Fife."
Of course he never would and he never will!
He's just gonna kiss her in her drawing room, ravish her in a carriage, propose to her right away, ravish her in his mother's drawing room, sleep with her before the wedding in his childhood bedroom, haste the wedding because he can't wait any longer to marry her ass and declare his undenying love and worship for her infront of the whole ton - with a kiss included.
No courting for your wildest fantasies, Fife. Colin Bridgerton is a man of his word!
