"Being neurospicy is so fashionable these days", "being neurospicy is trendy", No, being neurospicy is a pain in the butt. At 1pm today I got in my car and it wouldn't start, I tried a few things to see what the issue was but nope, didn't wanna work, so I called my breakdown people. They said it'd be a couple of hours so I went back inside. Thank goodness I broke down at home instead of a motorway.
I cannot do any things until they arrive, my brain says no things. I figured I'd play animal crossing, or do some drawing, or tidy my house, but instead I've been sitting on the sofa all day because I'm in Waiting Mode. Waiting Mode is where your brain goes into standby waiting for a phone call in case you miss it.
Their visit keeps getting delayed, it's now estimated to be here between 9pm-12am. I've been trying to play animal crossing for 5 hours. It's 6.20pm. Someone tell me brain I'm allowed to do something other than Wait for the car people to arrive, otherwise today has been a complete write off 🥲

hey kids! did you know wait mode can last multiple days?! haha me neither, but you too can experience this without warning by simply ✨starting a new routine on monday✨
side effect include but are not limited to: being unable to leave the house, being unable to eat, being unable to respond to messages, being burnt out, struggling to socialise, feeling irritable, still being unable to eat, fatigue, boredom, wishing you could do something, neglecting daily tasks, neglecting weekly tasks, neglecting all the tasks, being unable to enjoy your freedom, the inability to engage in hobbies and of course, waiting

Some people need to understans that if you tell me you'll call at 13.30, YOU WILL CALL EXACTLY THEN or cause me to be paralyzed in waiting mode until you grace me with your time. I am literally unable to accomplish ANYTHING until you call. You have stolen every minute you are late for and I will absolutely hate you for wasting those moments.
(This can be fixed with a text saying "I'll call you at X, dog puked on me" or any other explanation - just don't be late from the new time please)

Super helpful video about "Waiting mode"
Waiting mode is when you can't start any other activity in fear of forgetting/missing the important event of the day, like a call, a meeting, an appointment, etc. So you just wait until the event, from a few minutes to several hours.
One of the tips mentionned in the video is using alarms.
put a note alongside it to help you remember what it's for
loud and obnoxious sound, and/or sounds that you're not familiar with (so you actually notice it)
set the alarm to a time before you need to take action (ex. For an appointment, you'd set the alarm to 30min before leaving for said appointment, to give you enough time prepare before heading out)
Also, I use my phone's calendar app for events and reminders that are in the future. The future ranges from a few hours to a few days/months. It helps me declutter my head, reduce stress of "forgeting something" and get get back some more focus for the tasks that need my attention.
Honestly, any tips to help future you is welcomed and appreciated. Like the guy said in the video, we like to take care of others, and it's time to see future you as someone to care of too.

**My partner and I are both adhd and autistic**
My partner came over to my house to pick me up but we couldn't leave for another 15 mins because I had to let the dogs out one more time
When he walked in, we didn't say anything to each other or initiate any sort of affection. We both sat in silence until I put the dogs away
We were almost to the car before I realized this, and I simply asked, "waiting mode?"
"waiting mode" he responded, then gave me a hug and we got in the car
In the past I've had people get upset with me when I'm in "waiting mode" and it hit me just how lucky I am to have a person who not only understands, but has similar modes to me
