Ben jerked, not having expected the intrusion. In truth, he'd gone o.utdoors in need of air -- the f.estivities inside were capable of making him feel quite lonely, given the memories they were starting to unlock -- and offering the woman a wan smile, he inclined his head and replied, "I suppose so."

If she meant nice as in the w.eather, then yes; if she meant nice as in the beautiful scenery, skyline and glittering s.tars up above, then also yes; but Ben couldn't find it in himself to agree that the night was pleasant.

"You should go back inside," he said. "I'd hate for you to miss the c.ountdown just because you chose to stay out here with me."

Starter | Muse: Eddie Munson | Verse: Modern AU

It was all a complete accident, but his mind was trying to tell him that it wasn’t the case. He had heard from people in class that it was an interesting website. Though, at first when he had scrolled through it, nothing seemed to be as captivating as any of them suggested. After about fifteen minutes, to the very second it turned on that mark, did he finally see a single image that sent his thoughts into a spiral. “No way......” Quietly, he clicked on it to see the image, fully, and a hand shot up to clasp over his lips. A small noise left him when he recognized who it was, and his pulse skyrocketed.

“NO WAY?!?!” He quickly tried to be quiet, and clicked off of the link, before making the great attempt to shut this out of his head. Though, something really did bother him enough to actually reach out through a text to the one he saw in the image, flicking on his phone’s screen, and tapping at the number there.

“’Hey... can... we meet up, later'?” He muttered to himself as he typed it out, contemplating on sending it for a good hour - an hour in which he was frantically trying to not look at the other images he could see in a gallery link, having made the awful choice at going back onto that site, to that same person’s page. It was a mistake, and he was regretting ever going on there. Soon, he eventually sent it, and just started to get ready, because even if they didn’t meet, he would just try to walk this off somewhere else.

The painful wallop between his shoulder blades was what Ben felt first, followed by his world spinning off its axis when he was suddenly slammed to the ground. His g.un went skittering across the floor, and then a pair of thighs squeezed around his head in a vicious pinch.

Despite his panic, Ben managed to grit out, "Can't you buy me dinner first?" before fumbling inside his coat. Grasping his switchblade, he drove the knife in above the woman's knee -- brisk, but not deeply -- which allowed him the room to roll free. Struggling for breath, he held up a hand and cautioned, "Wait! Wait, I can help you with that..." Exposing his palms to show he was no longer a threat, he pleaded, "I just want to talk..."

She enjoys every moment they spent together, actually. Probably much more than she should have. She almost regrets not being the one to message him first. She already has a warm smile on her lips.

Is she being too straightforward ? Maybe. But at least, he'll know he has been on her mind. She sends the message and keeps the conversation open, quite eager to see his answer.
