how could one make the ideal football team using only frev figures?

Thank you so much for this ask, @citizen-card! I'm sorry it has taken me a little while to answer. Your question was sent to me during the anti-truth hour but tbh, creating a football team of FRev figures has been on my agenda for some time.

I present… MONTAGNE F.C.

Montagne F.C., est. 1793, are an exciting team with an attacking ethos but also strong in defence (of the patrie). They tend to play in the popular modern 4-3-3 formation, which morphs into a 4-3-2-1 in the final stages of attack with Fabre as the lone striker up front.

Goalkeeper: Hérault de Séchelles. Team heart-throb. At over 6' tall, has the reach to make saves across the width and height of the net. Tends to leave the field as soon as the final whistle has blown so that he has time to sign hundreds of portraits before heading off to some highly exclusive nightclub. Fabre always tries to tag along.

Left Fullback: Saint-Just. The youngest team member, just as well given the amount of running he has to do on the overlap. Wishes Robespierre would allow him to trust his own instincts more rather than constantly shouting, “Forward, forward – no, come back! Come back!” Has a good understanding with his right fullback counterpart Le Bas. Desmoulins lives rent-free in his head.

Centre Back: Desmoulins. Only plays here because he thinks he can leave most of the defensive work to Danton, which is interesting because Danton thinks he can leave most of the work to Desmoulins. Writes the official fan newsletter, gets annoyed that Robespierre keeps sending back articles covered in red ink. Sings “You’re shit, and you know you are” at Saint-Just, then pretends it was someone in the crowd. Robespierre often has to separate them in the tunnel at half-time.

Centre Back: Danton. Undoubted talent, but lazy a.f. Stands by one of the goalposts chatting with Hérault, only springing into action if there’s an imminent danger of the opponents scoring a goal. When he does decide to put in a tackle, he goes in studs up. Loudest voice on the pitch, constantly shouting at the lads up front to show more audacity in counterattack.

Right Fullback: Le Bas. Lovely clean player, never booked, never carded. Not flashy, but he runs his heart out for the team every game. Sometimes wishes he’d get as much attention in match reports as Saint-Just, but then pushes the idea out of his head and keeps smiling through. His Instagram account is basically pictures of his wife, their baby, and Saint-Just.

Left Midfielder: Marat. Pushing 50 and still an absolute demon on the attack. Nips around defenders easily, puts this down to his low centre of gravity. Runs an edgy underground fanzine. Team physio and doctor, takes a no-nonsense approach to injuries, believes everything can be cured by sponging off with cold water and vinegar. Gives Fabre a kick when he dives, claiming “it’ll do him good”.

Central Midfielder: Billaud-Varenne. Always turns up for training and matches with Collot d’Herbois. In rondos, has to be reminded to pass the ball to someone else once in a while. Does allegedly unscripted fun fan-meet videos with Collot.

Right Midfielder: Collot d’Herbois. Devises the scripts for the fun fan-meet videos he films with Billaud. Threatened to shoot a fan who tried to improvise. The archetypal loose cannon, as much of a menace to his team-mates as to the opposition. Once tried to throw Robespierre over an advertising hoarding for windows.

Left Winger: Maximilien Robespierre. Self-appointed player-manager. Did all his coaching certificates, attended at least one course twice “to make sure I’ve taken it all in”. Obsessive in preparation for matches, likes to have a week analysing the opposition before he presents his tactics to the team. Doesn’t like overly physical play, says 99% of the game is won by character. Often booked for arguing with the referee for so long, it gets dark. Cult icon with the female fans, nobody – least of all him – is quite sure why.

Right Winger: Augustin 'Bonbon' Robespierre. His brother’s biggest fan and cheerleader, but a gifted player in his own right. More physically courageous in attack than Maximilien, also has something of a reputation as a talent-spotter. Reckons he saw a player who might be “the next big thing” down in Toulon.

Striker: Fabre d’Églantine. Fancies himself as much as he wishes everyone else fancied him. Posts daily (but suspiciously short) topless workout videos on his Instagram. Hérault always puts three laugh emojis in the comments. Feigns injury to try and win penalties, a nightmare for Robespierre who’s convinced he’ll be red carded for fakery one of these days. Dives, rolls and wails shamelessly. Should spend longer in the shower after matches.

alright so I’ve seen a lot of posts and… I have some thoughts.

okay so, I’m sorry but. people saying they won’t watch the show unless lokius becomes canon??? guys it’s not going to be canon, and it’s fine. I’d love to be wrong about that, but. the prospect of a ship becoming canon is not what’s fun about shipping in any fandom.

please can we take off the tumblr lens of shipping being the most important part of every media and focus on the story this show is telling? loki said himself that his biggest priority is his friends. that’s canon!! and that’s super important for him and how far he’s come as a character!!

like don’t get me wrong, I ship lokius with my whole self. but the part that’s fun about shipping them, for me, is the fandom community and the art I’ve been making, NOT the hope that they’ll get into a romantic relationship onscreen, and I think people need to take a step back 🤷‍♂️

yes, it’s fun to point at the lingering glances and touches and heartfelt conversations and comfortable dynamic and say “they love each other”. they DO love each other. people working on the show (tom himself) have acknowledged that! whether it’s romantic or platonic doesn’t actually matter. but I’m obviously not going to beg anyone to watch the show. don’t watch it if you don’t want to! just remember that the point of this show has never been romance!

but regardless of that, can sylki shippers stop calling us “delusional” for participating in the fandom in ways we enjoy??

and can we acknowledge that the story means something apart from who we want Tom Hiddleston to kiss???

I don’t usually make posts like this, but I’ve been seeing a lot of anti-intellectual junk lately, and I really think we need to put the word “pretentious” up on a shelf until people learn what it actually means.

It doesn’t describe someone who likes artsy-fartsy deep meaning media. People who are pretentious are fake. They’re posers trying to be sophisticated and unique, not like other girls. They pretend to only like stuff they think will make them sound cool when they talk about it. They want to act like they know something you don’t, and they want attention for it.

By definition, if you genuinely enjoy something, you can’t be pretentious. If it resonates with you, and you analyze it, and you don’t care what people think, that’s the polar opposite, actually. If you love obscure experimental prog music, if you watch underground high concept indie films through English teacher eyes, if you spend hours in a modern art museum reading each piece as a vessel for storytelling, if your backpack’s full of poetry books that inspire you, if you play underrated games that were someone’s passion project, if you have an interest in studying the classics or the masters, you are not pretentious.

Of course, some people just don’t like some stuff, and that’s fine, but that’s not what this is about. Don’t let anti-intellectuals shame you for enjoying things just because your interests are inaccessible to them, because they refuse to be brave and put effort into critical thinking. You’re not stuck up for refusing to overlook the craft of artists.

writing my silly little fic and again im struck with how much opportunities they missed by pretending the s2 stancy breakup wasn't messy, specifically for Nancy's guilt about barb and forcing herself to grow up too fast

like s1 Nancy spends one night being a stupid teenager goofing off at her boyfriend's party and staying over to get spicy while Barb goes home. then she later realizes Barb disappeared and died that one night she was letting go and having fun. this is widely recognized trauma for her and informs a lot if not most of her actions through the rest of the show

in season 2 she's feeling the weight of it more around the first year anniversary. steve trys to help by taking her to a party to forget for a little while and 'be stupid teenagers' for a night. a perfectly set up parallel already

the way the show wants it to go, we get the bullshit argument, they fight, allegedly break up at some point, and nancy sleeps with Jonathan. later steve tells her to go with him and we're supposed to read it as Steve stepping back so jancy can happen. we're supposed to be seeing this as a happy ending.

but with the material we're given this would have been the perfect place for an emotional repeat of season 1 for nancy. she and steve go to the party and pretend to be stupid teenagers for the night. but oh no! nancy lets lose too much, lets herself relax and drink and dance, and the next day her boyfriend's pissed. hes saying she said things she never remembered saying and its hurt him and she doesn't know what to do. and kids around school are talking about them breaking up at the party, and that fits with Steve's anger she saw, so they must've broken up right? it sucks, even if she wasn't in love with him, that'd be the worst way to break up with someone (especially if she's confusing platonic and romantic feelings or convincing herself it has to be romantic when she really just values him as a friend)

and then she doesn't have time to work it out, she needs to go with Jonathan to avenge barbs 'disappearance' to give her family closure. She's got a lot of conspiracy shit to do and its stressful. so when murray starts going off about how she's not really in love with steve, how she actually likes Jonathan and he seems to like her back. they finished a lot of the hard work with the conspiracy stuff, she can let her guard down and have a quick good night.

then the next day is chaos. demodogs and labs and will being possessed. It a rough fucking day. Steve tells her to go with Jonathan while they get the mindflayer out of Will, civil like they're on good terms so she does (and thank god she did because that was rough and they needed all the help they could get)

and then everything's fine again, with the upside down. and it looks like she handled things better this time, was about to relax occasionally and still made it through.

except apparently she and steve didn't break up. he thought it was just a few fights, that they put their shit aside for the apocalypse and now they can work things out.

and it could ruin nancy. a year later and she's still hasn't learned her lesson, that letting her guard down hurts the people she cares about, that relaxing and having fun makes her lose people. its her fault for the messy breakup with Steve and its her fault that barb is gone. she's the reason she's lost friends close to her, 2 for 2, and now she only has Jonathan left (and what do you know, season 3 has her conflict with Jonathan and in season 4 she's not let anyone else get truly close to her and fred still dies)

you see what i mean?? by having conflict magical resolve itself in the background we loose so much powerful, painful character drama for her. our girl who thinks she has to keep the world around her up solely on her shoulders because she can't handle the loss of her best friend in season 1. Nancy who desperately wants to be normal and have people she loves but keeps losing them, through factors both in and out of her control, but feels like everything has to be her fault just because some things were.

and to be fair, that story is still present in the show. its there and definitely compelling, but it could've been even more so. i feel like if maybe there was less 'nancy has to be a strong independent girlboss' in there (abd it's definitely there, they want to make a point of making her a Strong Woman Character so bad) and she was allowed to have mistakes acknowledged by the narrative, this is the direction it would've gone. She could've been an excellent example of well written women who are strong and awesome through their own right instead of the narrative trying to make us like her

can we stop looking at everything percy and annabeth do through the percabeth lenses ? it’s starting to be detrimental to both of their characters.

I've been living in such a nice bubble of the internet (Ted Lasso fandom) where pretty much everyone at least likes the characters I love that I forgot what it's like out here as a Stranger Things Jonathan Byers fan ✌️ all i can say I'm glad we're not getting s5 until 2026 (probably) I'm no longer emotionally strong enough for this.

So, Ecosia is incorporating AI chat into their search page toolbar, like a lot of search engines are now, and we're having thoughts about it. Those thoughts mainly being "this is a bad idea that will spread misinformation more quickly, same as the other AI chats in other places do."

terfs when a study shows literally anything positive about trans people/transitioning: 'hm i think this requires some fact-checking. Were those researchers REALLY unbiased? Because if they were biased this doesn't count and if they weren't knowingly biased they probably were unconsciously biased, woke media affects so much these days. Have there been any other studies on this? Because if there haven't been this could be an outlier and if there have been and they all agree that's a bit odd, why aren't there any outliers, and if there have been and any disagree we really won't know the truth until we very thoroughly analyze them all, will we? Were there enough subjects for a good sample size? Did every single subject involved stay involved through the whole study because if they didn't we should be sure nothing shady was going on resulting in people dropping out. Are we 110% sure all the subjects were fully honest and at no point were embarrassed or afraid to admit they didn't love transitioning to the people in charge of their transition? Are we 110% sure none of the subjects were manipulated into thinking they were happy with their transition? In fact we should double-check what they think with their parents, because if the subjects and their parents disagree it's probably because they've been manipulated but their cis parents have not and are very unbiased. How many autistic subjects were there because if there weren't enough then this doesn't really study the overlap between autistic and trans and if there were too many then we just don't know enough about what causes that overlap to be sure this study really explains being trans and isn't just about being autistic. How many AFAB subjects were there because if there weren't enough this is just another example of prioritizing AMAB people and ignoring the different struggles of girls and women and if there were too many how do we know sexism didn't affect the results. Was the study double-blinded? We all know double-blinded is the most reliable so if this one wasn't that's a point against it even if the thesis literally physically could not be double-blinded. Look i'm not being transphobic, i want what's best for trans people! Really! But as a person who is not trans and therefore objective in a way they cannot possibly be, i just think we should only take into account Good Science here. You want to be following science and not being manipulated or experimented upon by something unscientific, right?'

SCIENCE. Just good ol' unbiased thorough analysis. I see absolutely no reason to dig any deeper on this and if you think it's wrong you're the one being unscientific. It's really a shame you've been so thoroughly brainwashed by the trans agenda and can't even accept science when you see it. Maybe now that someone has finally uncovered this long-lost study from 1985, we can make some actual progress on the whole trans problem.'

Okay negative rant about 55 minutes and Dazai and overall bsd writing pls pls pls don't read this if you like any of those things please I'm literally begging you

Look, I know I'm not the biggest bsd fan- I'm quite literally here just for a ship, which is kinda sad, but also true - so I shouldn't come in reading any other installment of the series with high expectations. Still, I was so let down by 55 Minutes? Besides featuring the standard sexism and nationalism one sadly gets used to reading bsd, there's just- the big D problem. When Atsushi got shot back in time, I was so hyped by the premise of Atsushi being given exclusive knowledge that came with the chance of finally acting on his own, getting to make his own decisions, saving the day with no external help and just stopping being a puppet in someone else's hands- and then it was all gone, just like that? He revealed everything to Dazai and Kunikida? Breaking the most basic time travelling rule to do so on top of that???? Something Wells-my-beloved had carefully warned him against? Simply because Dazai could immediately read into his mind for no other reason than being unnecessarily overpowered? It was... So disappointing. I'm definitely tired of Dazai always saving the day, being unnecessarily omniscient and just straight up being depicted like a god. It's so lazy narrative wise? Dazai is potentially an okay character but like,,,,, you gotta give your characters flaws man. You cannot have a character who never failed, which has everything always going according to his plan. Or you can, but it's so annoying to read! It makes him all the more unsymphatetic, and Dazai alone isn't very easy to be sympathetic towards to begin with ://

Quit it with all the characters admiring him like he was the savior of the world!!!! Quit it with all the characters treating him like he was the man with all the answers!!!!!!! Quit it with all the characters considering him a god!!!!!!!!! It's just so infuriating because I've been in fandoms - mainly The Promised Neverland - where actually well written protagonists were constantly thrown under the buss by the fandom for being “perfect” and “flawless” and “Mary Sues” (they weren't) thus “unrealistic” “boring” “annoying” and worse. And you know where the difference lies? Those characters were all female. It's so frustrating and infuriating having had to witness that baseless, senseless criticism, and then seeing everyone turn a blind side to Dazai just because he's hot and most importantly male?? It's upsetting, it's disgusting.

And finally please give Atsushi his own agenda- he's supposed to be the protagonist (he hardly makes one), if not him, who else deserves it? Atsushi really, really needs to stop being a puppet in Dazai's hands. He needs to start thinking with his own head!! Quit it with all the “I'm going to do this because I trust Dazai / Ranpo's plan”- what do you want to do, kid?

Your thoughts on how popularity is supposed to trump all trauma, and so Quinn and Santana need to just shut up and be grateful is maybe why Promasaurus is so frustrating to me. Because it's like the writers pick and choose when popularity matters. Sometimes a desire for it deserves to be punished, sometimes it's true, heartwarming validation. Quinn is evil two years in a row for caring about it, despite both times being in a mental state where it actually makes a TON of sense for her to crave that reassurance. But then Rachel is given the honor despite zero narrative set-up for it, and we're not only expected to think it's earned because of HER "hardships" (sorry, I cannot even take her S3 arc seriously considering the writers knew full well the entire time none of it was going to matter), but we're supposed to view Santana as a bad guy for stripping her of the illusion of what it actually meant 2 seasons later. I mean, honestly, being given Prom Queen by her two ex-rivals who truly know her, could arguably be seen as MORE meaningful than just a bunch of hypothetical votes from people who just voted for her because they were already voting for her bf. But nope, NOW that validation from strangers matters and is okay to care about. But when Santana and Quinn cared in S2-3, for, quite frankly, WAY more understandable reasons? THEN it was proof of shallowness.

No no see what you don't get Anon is that when Rachel enjoys popularity and actively envies it she's Valid and it's a good thing to want and she deserves that moment of glory. When Finn caves to peer pressure because he's desperate to retain his position it's understandable really, don't be so hard on the guy he's trying his best and is really good at heart even when he doesn't lift a finger to stop bullies. When Quinn and Santana want popularity and are desperate to maintain it? Bad! Bad bad people, look how rotten they are in their single-minded pursuit. Never mind that Quinn's fall from grace is brutal and people keep reinforcing that she's only worth anything as a pretty face, and never mind that Santana's need for validation comes from a deep fear of people finding out she's queer and therefore inevitably an outsider. Never mind that both of their desires come from deeply fucked up familial backgrounds and the general need to be loved. As much as Rachel's or Finn's needs. But when they want it they're good and righteous and the people who don't like them can suck, whereas Quinntana are bad bad shallow people, ew why do you wanna be liked and accepted? Pathetic. Give me one valid reason for your double standard Glee I'm begging you. Give me one reason not to judge Finn "faggy lamp" Hudson as harshly for caving under peer pressure as you want me to judge Quinn for obsessing over Prom Queen. Give me one reason why Rachel's allowed the eternal underdog narrative where her "winning" Prom Queen is triumphant but Santana seeking validation while being a queer Latina woman in a bigoted environment that has only ever seen her as a whore, that makes her shallow. And I don't even think Glee is always judging Quinntana, for example the portrayal of the three-way gay lovers scene in Prom Queen is surprisingly sympathetic. Wait, what, it wasn't supposed to be a montage of three gays freaking out and their lovers reassuring them? Huh. Okay, anyway.

It generally is a character-based double standard. When our "baddies" want to conform to the high school social hierarchy they're weak-willed and rather pathetic, really, but the Good Underdogs are allowed simultaneous martyr and superiority complexes. And when they are validated by the mainstream? That's a sign of their awesomeness, of course. My eventual Glee magnum opus will be tearing this underdog obsession a new one because it drives me crazy how unaware this show is that all these kids and the conventionally attractive aren't any less traumatized. I mean that's just another big aspect of this.

You know who the only character above all this high school nonsense is who actually keeps their integrity even when getting the upper hand? Mercedes Jones. But idk if y'all are ready for that conversation.

On the note of Santana's big blow to Rachel during 100 being the Prom reveal, holy shit I think you really tapped into something there Anon. Obviously Santana was meant to be and succeeded in being cruel but I never vibed with people pretending that it was oh so big a deal that she told Rachel. To be clear, yeah it was a dick move but my god can you stop pretending it was the most evil thing. After the Pezberry feud dust settled, I really hope Rachel investigated what that revelation meant, exactly. Because you're so right, what means more? A bunch of random peers voting for her, for no reason really (how did she believe it was real) OR two girls who had once bullied her but learned to love and appreciate her giving up their own pursuit of this mighty title and deciding to give it to her. Rachel literally says "do you not understand what you mean to me" to Quinn JUST before the coronation happens and goes on a whole spiel about Quinn's friendship meaning the most out of anything to her. Girl. If it really meant that much to be able to form that connection then surely it should be at least just bittersweet instead of devastating that a bunch of randos didn't, in fact, randomly vote for you. It was the two girls you have endeared yourself to. And again, Santana was being a jerk and cruel on purpose and boo that sucks, whatever, jail for Santana. But it's not like Rachel didn't still come out as a winner of that situation. It's not like she was the victim of a cruel prank like Kurt and Tina at their proms.

im pretty sure all of the lando fans on f1blr have been on a blocking spree this week. people are basically angry on behalf of people who don’t even mind. they’re acting like lando went up onto the podium and purposely smashed maxs trophy😭 lando apologised, everyone laughed about it, the company said that they’re not angry, a new trophy is being or has been made, all is good. so why are people still angry? 😭🙃 at this point i’m just bored to be honest, i’m over it, as is everyone else ACTUALLY involved it seems. so… why cant they be over it too?
