Summary: Ruin fails. Furrily?
Warnings: Death (mentioned), Near Death (mentioned), Crying, Angst, Shock, Cursing, Trauma, Newborn Kitten Care (aka helping them eat and go to the bathroom), let me know if I should add anything else.
Multiversal Kittening?
"I don't wanna go…" Solar muttered as he felt his body deteriorating, changing, turning into something like dust.
"You don't have to!" Moon insisted, holding onto Solar's arms as they deteriorated and Moon's hands slipped through the air they used to be in as Solar felt darkness fall around him.
Moon stared at where he's slipped through, falling onto his face on the ground as he fell through where Solar had stood and ended him up onto the ground. Moon was hyperventilating still, body shaking as he tried to keep himself together, oil-based tears sliding down his face and staining the blue and silver surface of his faceplate with the clearish-amber tears.
Moon stayed on the ground, not wanting to get up as he heard Sun screaming something, Moon couldn't hear what Sun was saying, everything he heard was ringing, his audio sensors were muffled by something, his processors were buffering, something was wrong. Something was wrong and Moon couldn't move or think or hear.
Moon felt someone touching his shoulder and finally managed to pick his head up to see his twin shaking his arm to get him to respond, shaking Moon out of his shock. Sun was in tears too.
"Moon!" Sun urged his twin back. Moon looked to be in shock on the floor, face down and unmoving. Now that Sun had shaken him, Moon did look like he was recovering a little bit.
"Moon, sit up. Be careful." Sun guided Moon to sit up against the nightstand and Moon gazed at him, tears still not stopping but Sun knew it was better for his brother to just cry than bottle it up.
"Sun…" Moon muttered.
"I'm here. It's okay. Moon, it's okay." Sun told him.
"He's dead." Moon reminded his twin. Nothing was okay. Solar was dead, their brother was dead, Moon's best friend was dead.
"I know." Sun sighed softly. Sun then whipped his head to the side and Moon's head followed, looking at Ruin moving. "Don't you fucking move!" Sun snarled at Ruin.
"I will not. I surrendered." Ruin told them cheerily, sitting on the bed. While Sun was busy glaring at Ruin, Moon felt something against his right leg between his leg and Sun's. Moon looked down at it and saw a tiny little kitten. Did Sun get a new cat?
It looked like a newborn kitten with calico fur with the face half orange on the right and half black on the left with it's body swirled throughout with orange, black, and white fur. Its eyes were still closed, ears still curled and it was wriggling against his leg, bonking his leg softly with its tiny head to get his attention.
The kitten gave a tiny squeak of a meow and rolled on its side as it lost its balance and flopped onto its side on the floor, exposing the black and white belly it had with an Eclipse symbol on its belly. Moon's eyes widened as he saw the symbol. Solar? Was Solar a kitten?
"Moon? Moon!" Sun was looking at Moon again before looking down at the kitten and Sun's eyes widened too. "Solar?" Sun whispered as his hands carefully scooped the tiny kitten into them, cradling him away from the wood floor in his hands. The tiny kitten was so small that he fit into only one of Sun's hands and it squirmed a bit, squeaking and demanding attention and warmth.
"Is that Solar?" Moon asked softly.
"I think so." Sun admitted as he showed the kitten to Moon, whose tears began falling faster again as he looked at the kitten.
"What…?" Ruin muttered, looking over the kitten, who wriggled in Sun's hands as if attempting to get to Moon.
"Moon, he's getting cold and your engine is warmer than mine." Sun told his twin. Moon raised a shaky hand, terrified of hurting him and gently pet Solar's tiny forehead, making the kitten squeak at him with joy. Moon looked at Sun and back to Solar before taking off his hat and gingerly taking Solar out of Sun's hands.
"Good thinking, Moon." Sun told him, helping hold Moon's hat for Moon to safely place Solar in the warm hat. Once Moon had placed him int the hat, Sun wrapped Solar in the hat like a swaddle and gently placed him on Moon's chest so the warmth of Moon's engines would keep Solar warm.
"Be gentle. Not too tight holding him." Sun instructed Moon, placing Moon's hands to hold Solar up against him while Moon sniffled and held Solar as carefully as possible. Solar mewled softly, almost like he was whining.
"He's hungry. Come on. I have some milk for my cats he can have." Sun guided Moon up to his feet and then turned to glare at Ruin. "Don't you dare leave this room!" Sun hissed at him.
"I won't." Ruin agreed and raised his hands. Sun then guided Moon out to the kitchen and got out the kitten milk replacement for Solar and the tiny feeding syringe and nipple he had left over from finding Shadow a couple of months ago now.
Sun cleaned and sanitized the syringe and nipple and mixed together 2.25ml of the milk replacement before he drew the 2.25ml up into the syringe and put the nipple onto it and showed it to Moon.
"Do you want me to show you?" Sun asked.
"Yeah…" Moon admitted.
"Alright, put him on the counter if he feels human temperature." Sun told him. Moon felt over Solar's belly and he did feel warm enough, so moon placed Solar on the counter on a towel that Sun laid out for him.
"You just let him sit on his little butt and you put your thumb and middle fingers under his chin to hold up his head but don't squeeze because you're holding his neck, you're just holding his head up a little bit so he swallows." Sun told Moon as he narrated what he was doing once he unraveled Solar from Moon's hat.
"Then you get the nipple in his mouth and very slowly push down on the plunger. You don't want him aspirating because he's too tiny to cough it back up." Sun told him as he very slowly pushed the plunger and Solar greedily suckled at the nipple on the syringe, making little noises as he did so that Moon thought were adorable.
"I know it's probably going to feel weird, but kittens need help going to the bathroom until they're about a month old, so just use a washcloth and it'll help him go to the bathroom and clean him up." Sun finished feeding Solar and used a clean washcloth to help Solar go to the bathroom, Solar squeaking like a mouse with annoyance the whole time until Sun finished cleaning him off with a warm damp paper towel and a dry one to keep him dry and warm.
Sun rebundled Solar into Moon's hat and settled the kitten back into Moon's arms. Moon cradled him close and Moon watched the wriggling little kitten get comfortable and go to sleep against him, nuzzling against Moon's chest.

Adrian's Eating Disorder (and Subsequent Medical Issues)
This post may be hard to read for some, it includes talk about eating disorders and ED behaviour
Adrian's eating disorder started at thirteen and ended four – five years later at age (late) seventeen, (early) eighteen. It had started before he began to go by Adrian. He knew he wasn't Victor but he still responded to the name.
Adrian was heavily traumatised from only a few months old to fifteen by various people (Felix, Clara, the foster family & their son, and Isak Byström & his friends). He was abused physically, verbally, emotionally, and sexually, and all his abusers knew his weak spots and how to hurt him. This eventually led to high amounts of depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem (later on he would be diagnosed with BPD and DID, but these diagnoses wouldn't occur until his twenties).
At first, he'd just miss one meal. Usually breakfast or lunch. His foster parents couldn't have cared less if he missed a meal; they were just holding onto extra luggage until someone could take the extra load. Then, once missing one meal didn't satisfy him, he moved on to missing two. The need to lose weight was strong, but there was s small part of him that helped him to take care of himself to some degree. He'd take the longest route to get to school or see Isak just so he'd lose more weight. Isak used Adrian a lot for sex/sexual favours and would constantly note Adrian's weight which didn't help his view of himself. He saw himself as a sex toy and nothing more. Eventually, he ate hardly anything every day. They weren't entirely cutting out dinner, but they were only consuming very little of it. He was running on very little fuel and felt better about himself. He didn't need to eat; he was here to be used for sex. Nothing more. Nothing less.
At fifteen years old, he finally moved to Okinawa. At fifteen years old, his eating disorder got worse. He didn't eat. He skipped all his meals and ate half a slice of toast and half a stick of gum throughout the day. Whilst also selling his art, he also "sold his body" to get more money. They loved how skinny he was and added more fuel to his eating disorder. He was eventually found out by Kurai. Adrian had him under the assumption that they were recovering. Whenever Kurai gave them something to eat, he'd begrudgingly eat it, and before letting it digest, he'd vomit it up. He was going to do everything to not gain weight.
He was not gradual in his starvation this time. He skipped every meal, would work on the energy of a coffee in the morning and lie to Kuraitsume about eating. He ate nothing, and it got to a point where he lost the energy to hide it and keep up a convoluted lie. He didn't hide his arms and legs that were only skin and bone, his chest and hips, which both showed with clear definition, his gaunt face and defined cheekbones, his pale skin, or his empty eyes. He didn't care. He was happy to see himself so skinny and be used by people.
He was questioned by Kurai after they had come to consciousness from fainting due to malnourishment, fatigue, and overexertion. They never answered the question and never needed to because when Kurai picked them up, he could, without trying, feel his bones and the way they stuck out from his skin. They were immediately rushed to the hospital and were diagnosed with end-stage anorexia. His body was skeletal, and muscles were wasting away; his skin was yellow, dry and flaky; his hair was thin and brittle; his fingertips and earlobes were bluish in colour; he was constantly cold and shivering; he was fainting, having seizures, and a whole load of other symptoms.
He was incredibly malnourished and below the expected BMI for someone his age—he was nearing death, and while the promise of recovery was possible, he refused to take it. Nothing Kurai said to him persuaded him to recover. It wasn't until Jasier came in, by the request of Kuraitsume, did Adrian see a need to recover. Jasier talked to him like a son; he respected his boundaries and gave Adrian a want to keep living. "I think this world is better with you in it, Mijo. You have many fantastic qualities, and I'd hate for you to forgo your life. It seems hard at the moment, but it'll get better. Promise you'll try for me?”
Eventually he fully recovered and was adopted by Jasier and Masako. He’s been living great since

You know you're in love when you go out of your way to call out of work to make sure your partner stays cool for 2 days straight
My boyfriend got heat exhaustion after we went out of town the day before I was supposed to go back to work
He doesn't know but I spent an entire day practically pouring water on him, desperately trying to cool him off and get him hydrated
I almost lost him, I had never been so desperate to keep that man alive
That's real fucking love

Jason Todd x Fem!Reader || Hurt and Comfort.
Word Count: 1,862
Warnings: Injuries, swearing, near death experience, blood, knife mention, stabbing, canon-typical violence, use of pet names (princess, baby), drug (pain med) use
Tumblr media
You were sat in an alleyway, vision going in and out.
“Tell me something, princess. Anything.” Jason’s voice rang out in your ear.
That’s right. In your right hand, you held your phone, to your ear. Your other hand was pressing the fabric of your coat to the side of your stomach. The blood had soaked through, becoming sticking on your palm and fingers.
You should’ve listened to Jason. You shouldn’t have walked home alone, at night. Luckily your phone had been in your pocket and not your purse, which had been stolen from you by the same guy who decided to stab you.
“Princess,” he sounded panicked.
Right. “Wish I had kicked him harder.”
You heard a sigh of relief leave him, “That’s my girl.”
The phone slipped from your grip a little as your head swam. The sight of blood coming from your own abdomen made no help in quelling your nausea.
You fixed the phone. You had called Jason the second the guy ran off, leaving you to bleed out. He was driving, you think. Tracking your phone to try and get to you. “How far?”
He said something you didn’t hear. Your vision was swimming, your side was aching, and you couldn’t help but keep this funny understanding out of your mind that you were dying.
That this is something Jason had come back to your apartment with a few times, claiming it was nothing. It was something.
You heard him call your name, “What’s around you?”
“I’m tired,” you mumbled.
It seemed to happen in a blink of an eye. Jason was trying to tell you to stay awake, to look at the alley around you. To look out towards the street and tell him what you saw. Then he was there, standing in front of you, his helmet hiding his face.
“I’m here. I’m here, baby.” He cupped your face, tapping your cheek to get you to open up your eyes. He crouched down, pulling your hand from your side to assess the damage.
You smiled lazily and leaned forward, resting your forehead against his shoulder.
Jason muttered a slew of swears as he pressed something soft yet hard against your agonizing wound. You let out a yelp before Jason was picking you up, placing you on his bike.
He’s talking fast, “Fuck. Okay, listen to me. We’re going to go somewhere new, okay? There’s nowhere around here except there for me to get you safe.”
You passed out nearly as soon as he started the bike.
Jason’s freaking. He had tried to keep you safe from anything like this. From everything less than this. And here you were, bleeding out in his arms as he carried you through the batcave. He beelined for the cots and the medical supplies off to the side. He knows his motorcycle couldn’t have been the smoothest of rides for someone in your condition, but it’s all he had in such a short time span.
He’ll apologize when you wake up.
When. He repeats. When she wakes up and when we can get the hell out of this place again and when I can remind her I love her.
No one was back from patrol yet. He set you down on the cot before tearing off his helmet. He tossed it aside, pulling out a med bag and ripping it open. He pushed up your shirt, examining your side and where he had placed the military-grade gauze pad. He curses at the amount of blood.
His hands are shaking. Jason’s hands don’t shake, but you’ve proven to him a lot of things you could make him do that he hadn’t known he was capable of in the last year and (almost) a half of your relationship.
Jason nearly drops the suture thread before another hand is reaching out from just behind him. It catches the thread and Jason looks back over his shoulder. Alfred’s there, moving up to you.
“Allow me. You keep checking her vitals.”
Jason hadn’t even heard him come up. He’s nodding, stepping back to let Alfred take over the stitching. He moves to the other side of the bed.
That’s when he catches sight of the dark figure moving closer from behind Alfred. Jason immediately fixes him with a deadly glare, pointing at Bruce, “Do not come closer!”
Bruce stills. He’s in his bat suit, his cowl hanging behind his head, exposing his face. He looks down to your body, “Who is she?”
Jason doesn’t want him here. Rather, he doesn’t want to be here. You should’ve been home by now. Getting ready for bed and sending him a goodnight text. He turns his gaze back to you.
There’s some hair across your face that he hadn’t noticed. He moves it out of your way without a second thought, “My girlfriend.”
“Finally feel some remorse for sending someone to their grave, Todd?” Damian’s voice spoke up, walking up and stopping beside Bruce, “He’s probably trying to just reverse what he did.”
Jason ignores him. He wants to yell, scream, and maybe shoot the little bastard, but he was right. In a way, this was his fault. He didn’t look after you. He should’ve offered you a ride. Called you a taxi. An uber. Anything.
Jason grips your hand into his. It’s a way to count your heartbeat, and another way to ground himself. To reassure that you’ll be okay. His other hand stays on your cheek. His thumb gently moves back and forth, stroking your skin.
He barely registers Bruce telling Damian to go wash up. When the brat is gone, Bruce speaks up again, “What happened?”
Jason doesn’t take his eyes off of you, “She was walking home from her friend’s. A mugger got her purse, she fought back. He stabbed her.” Jason takes a deep breath, “She still had her phone. She called me. I brought her here because it was closest.”
A beat of silence. Still stitching you up, Alfred speaks, “How come we’ve never been introduced?”
Jason shakes his head, “I didn’t want her near any of this. She’s bad off enough sticking with me.”
Once you stabilize, Jason brings you up to his room in the manor. He walks past Dick, Tim, Duke, Cass, and Steph without looking at them. They sit around the batcomputer, watching Jason gently carry you out ot the cave.
He changes you out of your dirty clothes once he makes a run back to your apartment to grab you some of your own spare clothes.
Asides from that, he doesn’t leave your side.
He lets you have the bed to yourself. He pulls up a chair beside it, waiting for you to wake up. He didn’t want you to be alone when you did, in a strange place after a traumatic event. It was a recipe for disaster.
The sun’s been up for a long while and Jason hasn’t budged. He sits there, your hand gripped in both of his, held up and pressed against his mouth. His lips brush over your knuckles whenever he speaks up. Uttering a “I’m sorry.” every now and then.
There’s a light knock at the door before it’s cracking open. Jason turns his head to find Dick poking his head in. Jason glares at him.
Dick steps further in, presenting the tray he was holding. There were two glasses of water, some solid foods, and lighter ones, probably for you. Jason looked back down at you, letting his older brother enter.
“Just… figured since you’ve been cooped up in here all day,” Dick begins, setting the tray down on the beside table beside Jason.
Dick moves back around. He stands at the end of the bed, leaning against the tall bed post that was meant to hold up a canopy. “I heard…” he trails off, before nodding and your body in the bed, still unconscious, “Who is she?”
Jason looks up at his brother, not letting go of your hand, “So you haven’t heard.”
Dick rolls his eyes, “You know what I mean.”
Jason raises his brows a little. He looks back down at you. His hand reaches out to brush along your forehead, moving away imaginary stray hairs, “My girl.”
Dick nods in understanding, “How long you two been together.”
Jason pauses in thought, “Over a year. Our anniversary was in December.”
A small, choked sound comes from outside the door, in the hallway. “A year?”
Jason looks up at Dick, who makes a face that shows he’s knows he’s been caught.
“Are they seriously listening right now?”
Steph poked her head in first, an apologetic smile on her face, “We wanted to know!”
Duke pokes his head in next, just above Steph’s, “And we wanted to meet her.”
Tim’s head in next, above Duke’s, “You can’t carry a random bleeding woman into the cave and expect the family of detectives to not be curious.”
Cass’ head appears below Steph’s. She nods in agreement.
Jason let’s one hand go of yours to wave his hand through the air, “What the fuck? She’s not even awake!”
“Well that’s why we sent Dick as bait.”
“For the record,” Dick held up a finger, “They built off of my original, innocent idea of bringing you snacks.”
“Jesus Christ,” Jason stands up, taking a few steps forward. He points them all back towards the door as they start to filter into the room, “Get—“
“What’s going on…?”
Jason’s whole body whipped back around at the sound of your groggy, rough voice. The others watch as he’s back at your side in a millisecond, his whole demeanour changed. “Hey, you’re okay. Everything’s okay. Remember how I said we were going somewhere new? You thirsty, baby? Here, I got you some water.”
“Oh, you certainly did not get the water,” Dick piped up.
Jason glared back over his shoulder as he held the glass of water for you, keeping the straw Dick had added placed in your mouth.
You stopped drinking, your eyes now on the other people in the room. You turned your head, propped up against pillows Jason had put there for you. You weakly raised your left hand to wave, “Hi… oh?” your gaze turned down to your hand. A heart monitor clip sitting on your finger grabbed your attention. You gave a confused pout at it, “I feel funny.”
Jason set the water aside again. His glare was gone. He leaned in, kissing your forehead, “You’re hopped up on pain meds. That’s why, princess.”
“Damn,” Steph spoke up, “I wish I got the literal princess treatment.”
Jason turned back around, pointing out the door, “Get. Out. Leave my girlfriend alone until she’s better.”
You looked at the strangers, pointing at Jason with your left hand, “I’m his girlfriend.” Your head tilted back against the pillows as you stared up at Jason, pursing your lips, "I’m tired.”
“I know,” Jason said softly. The others began to filter out of the room as he leaned down and gave you a soft kiss, this time on the lips.
From the exit, a collective, “Awwww,” sounded out.
“Out!”
Your drugged up voice came after his, once they were all back in the hall, “Nice to meet you!”

Broken…
Pairing: Wally Darling x Male Reader
Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5 and Part 6
Summary: You are an adult, you even have a boyfriend but your life isn’t rainbows and sunshine. You have always watched the animated cartoon Welcome Home and a connection with its main character was established since you were little but what will he do when he sees the truth within your walls?
Illustrated Show Au and the warnings are in the tags but just in case: tw of abuse, injuries, near death mention and angst. M/n stands for male name and I'm sorry for all the people named Josh!
Tumblr media
Wally has always being your best friend since you were a kid, M/n admit that it wasn't normal for the cartoon character to respond normally whenever he talked with him but it made him feel comforted which is why he still watches the cartoon to this day even though he is an adult. He even is married but it wasn't the healthiest marriage.
Josh was the man M/n married, he was a sweetheart, an artist. Very similar to Wally when it came to traits and personality but when he moved in everything changed but alas M/n turned a blind eye and would simply watch Welcome Home and talk with his best friend.
Another argument and screaming could be heard outside of the house. M/n could feel tears stinging in his eyes and he was starting to have a headache from how hard his jaw was clenched, he could actually feel some bile in the back of his throat. Through the argument at some point the Tv was turned on but it was muted and right there Welcome Home started and their sat Wally with a huge smile, ready to talk with M/n; he had been waiting for him to turn on the tv but his eyes were exposed with a shocking sight.
M/n was on the floor and they were crying while Josh kicked him over and over again, he was curled in a wall and shaking slightly. As soon as Josh ended his assault and left the house M/n was simply laying on the floor, numb and coughing some blood, the feeling of bile stayed on his throat and his headache worsen to the point where he could feel as if someone was pounding his heartbeat with a hammer.
"Neighbor... M/n?," Wally said softly but he was still muted but he saw how M/n weakly lifted his sight to Wally and gave him the most heartbreaking soft smile but as soon as he smile he felt another sharp pain followed with some blood being spitted out.
"Don't worry, he has done this before," said M/n in such a weak voice that Wally in a different scenario would have melted at hearing but he knew deep down that M/n was lying. He could tell by how weakly he was moving but as soon as he saw M/n eyes start rolling and his eyelids starting to shut his instincts took over and he started banging the screen until it broke.
Wally ran to M/n seeing how his skin was slowly turning paler by the minute and so he picked him up and took him with himself through the Tv screen. Wally kept in mind that he would need to give Josh a personal visit but for now it's more important making sure his best friend, his soulmate, didn't die because of someone like him.
This was inspired by the song Broken by Isak Danielson and I will be making part two so tell in the comments if you want to be tagged!

❝ The ship can't survive without its unicorn, Iz, ❞ Frenchie says quietly yet matter-of-factly as he wipes Izzy's feverish brow with a cool cloth, lingering for a moment to brush a loose strand off before turning to the side to soak the warmed up cloth in the bowl of cool water again, both his voice and gestures an aching mix of exhaustion, sadness and tenderness, ❝ We'll crash and burn before we ever reach another shore. ❞
There are tears welling in his eyes and he doesn't want Izzy to see them, doesn't want to distress his already overtaxed system even more, so he takes an extra moment to wring the cloth over the bowl while blinking rapidly to get rid of the tears.
And yet, a sob weasels its way into his words as he adds, almost an afterthought ( that sounds far more bitter than it has any right to be ):
❝ I thought you knew that. ❞
Tumblr media
[ OPEN for Izzy post-S2 because ouizzy is something else entirely as a ship and I need more of them and because this phrase about the ship and its figurehead/unicorn appeared in my head and I thought that it would suit Frenchie the most because if someone knows about mythical symbolism of figureheads etc, it’s him also, he's upset his boyfriend seems to be giving up ]

Short Prompt #953
CW: near-death experience (stranded in the ocean).
Human coughed as they resurfaced, fighting against the sea as their ship sunk into the waters. Their crew was nowhere to be seen, and even as they called out names, no one replied.
Though, mercifully, a stray plank of wood floated over to them. The human quickly grabbed it and held on, their exhaustion washing over them like the salty waves.
Out of the corner of their eye, Human noticed something moving beneath the surface. Fear arose in them as a long dorsal fin appeared above the water, and as the creature peaked its head up and looked at them, the human squeezed the plank in a death grip.
A merperson watched them from a few meters away, sharp teeth glinting in the sunlight.
...
Merpeople didn't like humans.

A/N: This is the Yuna Lives!AU I was talking about! This oneshot is an apology to @larz-barz for making her cry….. twice…..
TWS ⚠️: mentions of near death experiences
Milo had heard what had happened to Yuna.
Tanjiro told her when he returned from the small mission he and Yuna went on. He had approached to tell her Yuna had almost died and was currently being treated by the Insect Hashira herself.
Milo was waiting anxiously outside of the room Yuna was being treated in. The door was closed and she was sitting on the ground by the door and Tanjiro was sitting next to her, holding her hand.
A few minutes passed before the Insect Hashira exited the room and turned to Milo with a smile.
“Miss Handa is in a stable condition now and you may go in to see her”
Milo practically leapt up and into the room. She rushed to the side of Yuna’s bed and buried her face in Yuna’s neck while enveloping her in a hug.
“I thought you were gonna die—! You have to be more careful!”
Yuna winced slightly but returned the hug with a smile on her face.
“Awh sweetheart, you aren’t gonna get rid of me so quickly. I promise I won’t die that easily.”
Milo further buried her face into Yuna’s shoulder as her ears fell flat against her head.
“You better not.”
Milo pulled away from the hug with an angry expression but Yuna paid no mind to it. She instead reached out and wiped the tears that were pooling in Milo’s eyes. Milo spoke again in a soft and choked voice and her lip started to quiver.
“You have to promise to never do that again. You can’t die, I can’t loose you.”
Yuna gave Milo a soft smile and caressed Milo’s cheek softly.
“I promise… and I’m so sorry for making you worry…”
Milo went back to resting in Yuna’s embrace as she smiled softly.
“I forgive you… I love you mama…”
Yuna smiled and gave Milo a chaste kiss in between her ears.
“I love you too baby.”
~La Fin~
Gosh that was cringey 🥲
BUT I HOPE YOU LIKE IT LARZ AND IM SO SORRY FOR MAKING YOU UPSET 😭

I need to torture someone besides myself because I read the last chapter finally of a fic that ends the second to last chapter with Eclipse dying soooooo... here ya go have some late-night pain.
Imagine: Lunar being too out of control of his emotions and star power after killing Eclipse 3.0 and he electrocutes Solar when Solar tries to help him get away from the daycare, resulting in Solar having smoking Lichtenburg scars on his arms and Solar not being able to fully use his arms anymore.
Unfriendly Reminder: Kill Code had to spend last Father's Day alone. Two of his children were dead and the other was pretending to be a god.
Unfriendly Reminder: Solar Flare died for literally nothing.
Unfriendly Reminder: Solar's trauma (his Moon) followed him to his new home and proceeded to give him more trauma, which probably made it feel even more not safe to open up about his past.
Imagine: Eclipse 3.0 torturing Ruin before going to the Creator for answers. Moon and Solar find their number one suspect in reviving Eclipse near death and clearly no longer a suspect if Eclipse would torture him that badly.
Imagine: Moon gets to the house and finds Sun already nearly dead and just mangled and Sun's cats are desperately trying to wake up their owner.
Unfriendly Reminder: Original Eclipse learned his violent tendencies because, as we see in his 'Sad Origins' episode, he was trying to get control of Sun's body to tell them he was there, and anger and violence was the only way he got any control. Then it spiraled into a habit because he was a part of the kill code and he only had Old Moon's abusive tendencies as an example.
Unfriendly Reminder: The only reason Solar is a good person compared to Eclipse is because his Sun and Moon found him before he became fully conscious. This is literally the only conceivable way they found out about him since, as mentioned in the previous bullet point, Eclipse was angry and violent as of about five minutes after he woke up.

TW for mention of blood, unstable mental health, self-harm, and a su*cid* (i, e) attempt. Ask to TW
It was just a hard day. Hardly anything to take your life over.
It was just a few rude clients, a few misfunctions of his tattoo machine, and a few stencil misplacements. It was just a bad day.
Hardly anything to take your life over.
He hated how everything felt... devoid. It felt as if everything had lost its meaning. He felt... nothing; purely, he was a void of nothingness.
He felt no emotion, nothing.
It was something a shrink could effortlessly fix, but it only took a week to realise that they did fuck-all for him.
Hardly anything to take your life over.
Yet, here Adrian was, filling a bath with water and preparing his two favourite blades.
Adrian sighed heavily, leaning against the wall, slowly sinking down it to sit in a crouch. They dropped their face into their hands and let a sob. Tears left their eyes and fell into their hands while more silent sobs wracked their body.
Quickly recovering, they stood up from his crouch, using the wall for guidance. Then, he stepped over to the sink.
After applying a generous amount of soap, he began to shave his face. He noticed his eyes were empty as he stared at himself in the mirror while applying his aftershave.
Discarding his pyjamas, he changed into his casual clothes, it was nothing fancy, but it was better than being found in your pyjamas.
Taking a deep breath, he stepped into the bath and sat down, leaning against the back of the tub, facing toward the faucets. His clothes were quickly soaked through, and for a while, he stared at the way the luminescent light of the bathroom warped in the reflection of the waters.
Taking the small razor blade from the side of the bath, he held it up to the light, watching it gleam and sparkle. He had been shining and sharpening this one for months; he wanted it to be perfect.
Rolling up his trouser legs, he quickly got to work.
He slashed at his thighs and arms, and the blood was quickly licked away by the water in ribbons of red. The pain was exhilarating, and Adrian wanted more.
Placing the blade back, he grabbed the boxcutter, and cut deeper into his arms and thighs. Adrian cut from the top of his wrist down to his inner elbow on both of his arms before, in a dazed manner, placing the cutter on the side.
The water that was once clear was now stained red. Crimson covered their arms in the places where the water couldn't caress.
Adrian's thoughts slowed, and he struggled to keep his eyes open.
Black spots crowded his vision, and he couldn't focus on just one thing. The pain and sting from his thighs and arms felt incredible; the still water that licked his wounds clean had now gone cold, and sweat formed on his forehead despite the intense chills.
Fuck, this was glorious.
He was disconnected from himself until the door was gently nudged open, and an all-too-familiar voice spoke through the darkness, sending him crashing down to earth.
“Addie, you've been awfully quiet; what are you— ADDIE!”
A frantic phone call.
A panicked voice.
A stark white ceiling.
And a new therapist.

The earthquake was 6 days ago and they just today were able to free (and find) the remains of a young family under meters and meters of rock, unable to even be IDed from appearance. Two of the bodies were still embracing. It’s A Lot…
Edit: I guess a week ago now damn

Some troll: ew Godot is so gross, why do you like him?
Me: (He represents a fall from grace, making bad choices but realising that you can turn your life around and be better. He represents how disability and a near death experience can make you think your life is falling apart, but that you can learn to live a fulfilling life with it. He represents not caring verses caring too much and how much one can sacrifice because of love and a memory of what they had.)
Me: I just think he's a cool visor man

Tales of Bloody Bug and Chat Noir - Chapter 26 - Reverser and the Return of Evillustrator
Beginning || Previous || Next
Alix stared up at a blank wall. She tossed a spray paint can in her hand as she raked her brain with ideas. She felt eyes burn into her that flared her annoyance. She sneered under her mask and latched onto it. She put the can down and reached for the red. She covered the blank canvas in it before she went for the black and tagged the red canvas.
“Well, this is… something, Miss Kubdel,” Mr. Monlataing said.
“Is there a problem with it? I thought art was supposed to be an expression of the soul,” Alix countered.
“It is, but why is your soul so angry? Violent even.”
“A long list that I don’t have the patience, energy, or fucks to give to go through it.”
“I see. And just how long have you been penting up all this rage?”
            “Why do you care?”
“Because it’s hurting you, isn’t it?”
            Alix tsked. “It doesn’t matter.”
            “Alix-,” Mr. Monlataing started.
“Excuse me. Mr. Monlataing? Can I get your input on this?” Nathaniel asked.
“Hmm? Oh, yes. What do you have here, Nathaniel?”
Alix glanced over at the recent page of Nathaniel’s Bloody Bug and Chat Noir comic. She noticed a new character that looked exactly like when Nathaniel was Evillustrator.
“It’s Bloody Bug and Chat Noir teaming up with their latest companion, MightyIllustrator,” Nathaniel said.
            “You mean Evillustrator?” Alix asked.
“He changed his name after Bloody Bug saved him. Now he fights for justice.”
“A bad guy that becomes a good guy. I like it. You’re getting better at your storytelling.”
“Too bad the rest of his writing sucks,” Alix remarked.
“Miss Kubdel, I’ll allow a lot of things in my class, but we don’t bring down other artists. We must give them the confidence to continue their craft,” Mr. Monlataing scolded.
“And when does that encouragement feed into arrogance? Do we stop then, or do we keep going until we have an insufferable monster?”
“Sounds like someone is projecting,” Nathaniel retorted.
Alix snarled. She reared back her arm and threw the spray paint can she had, but Mr. Monlataing caught it.
“Alix, I think you should head to the counselor. Whatever is going on is clearly eating away at you. I think you should talk to someone who will listen.”
Alix opened her mouth when Rose ran over.
“Mr. Monlataing, I have a better idea to help calm Alix,” Rose said.
“Oh, this gonna be good. What do you have that could help me?” Alix mocked.
Rose smiled, took her headphones off, and put them on Alix. Alix opened her mouth to complain until she heard the rock music playing. Alix snorted, rolled her shoulders, and took a seat on the floor. Rose took a seat next to Alix and scribbled on the notepad, then showed it to Alix. Alix tilted her head as she read it.
I’m sorry, but I had asked Adrien if you were ok. You have been angrier these past few weeks. He didn’t say much, just that you needed time to dwell and not talk about it. I don’t understand what is going on, but I’m here to help in any way I can.
Alix’s face softened as she smiled. ‘Thank you,’ she mouthed.
Alix leaned against Rose and Rose leaned against Alix. Rose wrote down song lyrics while Alix watched the room. Mr. Monlataing went around the room, checking on everyone and their projects when a new kid peeked in through the door. Marinette ran up and dragged the guy in and introduced him to Mr. Monlataing, then Nathaniel. Alix watched them until the guy ran out.
Alix hummed, curious of what that was about, but ignored it. She jammed out to the music until she saw Marinette return with a black journal. She raised a brow when Marinette erased something in it, then gave it to Nathaniel. She furrowed her brows as Nathaniel lost himself to the book. She took off the headphones to confront him when the bell rang. She growled and handed the headphones back to Rose.
            “Thanks again.”
“Alix, would you like to join Mylene and me on a walk after school? It’s been a while since we’ve talked. But only if you want to.”
Alix considered then nodded. “Ok. I’ll see you after school.”
Alix headed out to her next class. She moved through the rest of the day on autopilot as has been her norm for the past few weeks. It worked well enough until someone annoyed her, which wasn’t hard to do. She didn’t like how easily agitated she could be, but it was the price of all this. If she was to get to the root of her problems, she needed to face it alone. No amount of talking was going to help her.
The final bell rang, and Alix made her way outside. She waited until Mylene, Rose, and Ivan joined her. She was hugged by Mylene and Rose while she fist bumped Ivan. Mylene and Rose each grabbed one of her arms and dragged her along as Ivan followed.
“I hope we weren’t going for a long walk. It’s really cold now,” Alix remarked.
“Oh, not at all. Just a short one. We wanted to hang out with you and, well, make sure you’re alright,” Mylene said.
“I’m not, but I appreciate it.”
“Adrien said you didn’t want to talk about it. Why is that?” Rose asked.
            “I… it’s stupid.”
“C’mon, Alix, nothing is stupid,” Ivan encouraged.
“Fine. Look, I… I want to get better, but I can’t. There’s this… issue at my core that has a death hold on me. I’m trying to get to the root of it, to confront it, but whenever I talk, I feel like I’m running away from it. I can’t let that happen anymore. So, I’m not going to talk as it festers so I can reach it.”
“But look at what you’re doing to yourself, Alix,” Rose chided.
“Something needs to be done, Rose. I need to get to the root of all this. My anger, my trauma, everything. Talking hasn’t helped, so I’m not talking anymore until I figure it out.”
“Alix, you’re going to self-destruct if you do that. And when that happens, Hawkmoth will make you his pawn like he did with all of us,” Ivan warned.
            Rose and Mylene nodded.
Alix stopped and turned on her heel to face Ivan, Rose, and Mylene. “Do not put me in the same group as you lot. There is nothing Hawkmoth could offer me that would convince me to become a villain. At least, no more than I already am.”
            “Alix, you’re not-!” Rose started.
“Don’t lie, Rose. I know better. I’m a little monster. I don’t need an Akuma to make me one. I’ve done nothing but hurt and turn on the people that try to get close to me. And when I think I’ve let someone in, they turn around and betray me. I just… there’s just no point. I’m a monster and that’s that. Nothing will change that.”
Rose, Mylene, and Ivan all exchanged glances while Alix trudged on ahead. They followed behind her as they arrived at Places des Vosages. Alix glanced over to see Nathaniel and the new guy from earlier. She looked away, then back at them as Nathaniel held up the black book and tore apart the pages, devastating the other guy.
Alix’s eyes widened as red threatened her vision. Her attempts to fight it were in vain as she caved to the rage. She turned into the park and up to Nathaniel. She pushed him down as he tried to leave.
“Hey! What’s the big-!” Nathaniel yelled.
Alix grabbed Nathaniel’s coat and pulled him up to her face. “You fucking bastard! What did you do?”
“I don’t see why you’re yelling at me. That fraud toyed with my feelings with his stupid scribbles. Then has the gall to want to work on my comic with me.”
“That’s not true. Marinette said she’d help me, but I didn’t want to do this because of this exact reason. Everything is ruined now,” the guy said.
Alix’s temper wavered seeing the guy’s distress before it ignited again as she glared down at Nathaniel. “You are nothing more than an arrogant little fucking bitch. You are the fraud here, not that poor boy. I think you need to cool the fuck down, bitch!”
Ivan, Mylene, and Rose yelled out for Alix to stop, but she ignored them. She grabbed Nathaniel’s arm and threw him over her into the fountain, soaking him to the bone in the freezing air. Mylene and Rose stepped between Alix and Nathaniel while Ivan helped him out. Marinette came running to help Nathaniel.
Alix took several deep breaths as she glared at Nathaniel. Memories resurfaced and mingled with the present as she saw Nathaniel as she once saw Chloe, beaten, bloody, and battered. Her rage shifted to terror as tears fell from her eyes, her heartbeat quickened, and her breathing came in short, rapid gasps. She turned and ran away. She heard them call her, but she ignored them. It happened again. She told herself she wouldn’t let it happen again, and she did. She had to get away to keep the others safe from the monster that refused to be caught.
~~
Adrien arrived home and headed up to his room as he got a call from Rose. He raised a brow and answered it.
            “Hey, Rose, what’s up?”
“Oh, Adrien! Thank goodness. Alix is missing! Something happened, she got mad, and then she ran off and we don’t know where she is!”
Adrien’s eyes widened as he heard yelling in the background between multiple parties. He opened his mouth when he heard screams tearing through the air.
“Rose? What’s going on?” Adrien demanded.
            “There’s a pair of-!”
            The line cut off.
“That’s no good. Plagg, Stompp, we have to go. Plagg, claws out!”
Plagg disappeared into the ring and transformed Adrien. Chat Noir jumped out the window and searched the city for the villains when he came across a guy in a black and white outfit riding a personal paper airplane.
            “Who are you?”
“I’m Reverser. You’re a strong, fearless hero, but not for long.”
Chat Noir’s eyes widened as Reverser summoned a small, black paper airplane. He readied to attack it when a green shield came in and destroyed it.
            “What the-?” Reverser yelled.
The green shield rebounded and knocked Reverser off his ride. Chat Noir beamed when he saw Carapace.
“Perfect timing, dude!” Chat Noir yelled.
“Always, my dude. Where’s his Akuma?”
Chat Noir looked down at Reverser’s ride. He grabbed and broke it, releasing the Akuma. He activated Cataclysm and destroyed the Akuma.
“Carapace, can you bring the boy that Reverser was. I believe him to be one of a set of Akumas.”
“Uh, I can, but I need to help some dudettes out first. One of their friends ran away and they can’t find her.”
            “Is it Alix?”
            “Yeah. How’d you know?”
“Because that’s part of why I’m out here. It was also in response to the Akumas.”
            “Heard. Well, let’s look together.”
“I actually know where she’d be.”
“What? Then lead the way. Let’s go.”
“Give me a minute. I need to recharge.”
“Oh. Right. Go on, dude. I got the Reverser boy. Just don’t take too long.”
            “Don’t worry, I didn’t plan on it.”
~~
Alix lay curled up on the freezing ground of her mother’s grave. Tears froze to her face and sealed her eyes closed. Tikki and Ziggy tried to get rid of the ice, but she swiped them away.
“Alix, please, you need to get home, or transform. You’ll die in the cold,” Tikki squeaked.
            “I don’t care,” Alix muttered.
“What? What did you say?” Tikki gasped.
“I. Don’t. Care. I lost it again. I hurt someone again. The monster came back out and retreated before I could stop it. All because I am that monster.”
“That’s not true. You were caught in a moment of passion. You defended that poor writer from that awful red-haired boy. You weren’t a monster. You were a hero.”
“But a hero doesn’t hurt people. A monster hurts people. And you can’t say if it’s for a good cause, then it doesn’t matter. The means never justify the ends. And in the end, I was a monster.”
“I stand by what I said, that’s not true. You are a passionate person, and passion burns bright. Sometimes too bright, yeah, but bright nonetheless. You did the right thing.”
“No, I didn’t, and nothing will change that.”
            “But-!” Tikki started.
            “Just go. Leave me alone.”
Tikki and Ziggy exchanged glances before they crawled into Alix’s hood.
“We’re not going anywhere,” Ziggy stated.
“That’s right. We’re here and you can’t get rid of us,” Tikki said.
Alix opened her mouth, but let out a choked gasp when Evillustrator grabbed her and thrust her up.
“There you are. I’ve been looking for you, Alix,” Evillustrator hissed.
            “Nathaniel?”
“Not anymore. Evillustrator is back, and I’m here to make you pay for your insults.”
Alix’s breath caught. Evillustrator’s threat struck her but filled her with sickening hope. Bile rose to her throat as the promise of seeing her mother crossed her mind. She tried to fight it off, to live, but the desire consumed her. She let her body go limp as she stopped fighting him.
            “Make me pay,” Alix begged.
“Oh, I will, but only in a way fitting a monster like you.”
Evillustrator threw Alix over his shoulder and headed back to Place des Vosages. He scared off the people in the park as he erased it and replaced it with a giant fountain.
“Let’s see how much you like being plunged into ice cold water in the middle of winter.”
Evillustrator threw Alix into the bone-chilling waters. Alix’s body seized up as the cold shocked her entire system. She stared blankly up at the dim winter sun as she lost the feeling in her entire body. Darkness closed in around as the water vanished and she felt herself on solid ground. She saw the figures of Chat Noir, Gallic Chick, Porcelet, and Carapace. They yelled at each other until an Akuma slipped by them and into Alix’s wristwatch. Their yells were drowned up and replaced with the voice of Hawkmoth.
“Timebreaker, I am Hawkmoth. You face death, but it need not be like this. You can reset everything back to the moment with your mother. You can save her and see her once again. All I ask in return is Bloody Bug and Chat Noir’s miraculous.”
Alix spurted and coughed. “I don’t… need you. I’ll see my mom soon… in death.”
            “What? You can’t-!”
            “I’ll see… I’ll see her soon. Good-bye, little butterfly.”
Alix let out a gasp and her body went still.
Alix opened her eyes to a dark road with little light. She roamed around it until a blinding light shone brightly. She shielded her eyes and blinked against it. It faded as her mother’s spirit stood across from her.
            “Mom!” Alix called.
Alix ran down the road to her mother, but slowed when she neared her. A lump caught up in her seeing the disappointment and sorrow in her mother’s face.
“I’m here. We’re together. Everything is as it should be.”
Alix’s mother shed an ethereal tear as she looked away.
“Wait, please! I miss you. I need you. Please, don’t leave me!”
Alix’s mother ignored Alix’s pleas, walked into the darkness, and vanished.
Alix cried out and reached for where her mother’s spirit once stood. She was stopped as she heard the crow of a rooster. She turned as a majestic, fiery rooster wrapped its wings around her and pulled her back to the world of the living.

Note
' it's quite funny how the world works. suddenly, killing makes you a villain if you're not some high end fancy pants ordering men to die in the name of honour. a flag is a stupid think to waste your life over, but, it's made glorious and beautiful and honourable. nobody tells you about the rage that comes with it, with the understanding that war is man-made violence and, therefore, it isn't a part of the natural cycle of life and death. '
bunny mask's first thought when the other first began speaking that the other had a very powerful way of commanding her attention; a trait that bunny mask herself found interesting, for this meant whoever possessed it oozed confidence, in her opinion. and although the spirit herself would willingly listen to anyone given the chance, it made her wonder about who this woman beside her was already. or what all she had experienced, as it were, since life events seemed to often have a tendency to shape who you are. bunny mask was clad in her usual attire at the moment; her mask in the shape of a rabbit obscuring the upper part of her face completely, with only wide slits cut out of it near the top to accommodate her glaring white eyes, and the dress she wore a nearly pristine looking white color.
and i say nearly because of the soot that was smeared across her collar. however, she thought she knew what she was getting into whenever she followed the sight of smoke in the distance, so this was of little importance to her: what was important to bunny mask was seeing if anyone needed her help here. it was usually a bad sign whenever a deep, dark smog that screamed ' fire ' had created a wall of it's own in the sky. but it turned out that she was wrong. this place was clearly pillaged and completely torn apart brick from brick, as the places that people used to call home were reduced to piles of wood scorched by embers. a thick layer of ash seemed to have formed in the midst of the landscape, and bunny mask could feel in her gut that something terrible had happened here.
perhaps as part of a war, as mya highlighted. the spirit could feel her heart drop while the other described her perspective on the sometimes militaristic and bleak nature of humanity. no, was it her experience? bunny mask thought that the way she phrased her words made this all sound very personal. a frown tugged at her lips as she bent down to touch the ash, letting it run through her fingers. mya was right — this was nothing to be proud of. she looked up at the other from the side, then, and spoke, ❝ you are right. i sincerely hope you were not here to witness what had happened here, for that would be a horror that you would likely never forget. but the men who do things like this, who ordered their own to risk their lives to ruin other's; they simply refuse to think they are the villains of anyone's story because they believe they are doing it for a noble purpose. though they are certainly not. ❞
bunny mask stood up and took a deep breath as she surveyed the land before her. there looked to be no survivors here, so the people here were either all killed, or maybe some had escaped. the latter might've been wishful thinking but bunny mask wanted to have some hope that this place was not turned completely into a mass grave, ❝ was that what this conflict was born from? the excessive pride of a nation, who are of the mind that they're righteous and good, but commit barbaric acts such as this one? ❞ she had to tell herself to take a deep breath now or she would likely lose herself to anger. and that would not be a pretty sight, for neither her, nor the other who stood just an arm's length away from her. in and out. bunny mask could feel the claws of her right hand dig into her palm as she took a moment to inhale, then exhale, but she didn't care.
everything about this was wrong. bunny mask let her eyes become half-lidded with the sense of sorrow that had come over her suddenly, like a tidal wave. it was just as she feared. mya had experienced this for herself, ❝ it is not natural. that, i must agree with. i am of the belief that we are fated to leave this world at a specific time and the lives of the humans that died in this town were stolen. they still had much to experience, to love. and from what i am hearing, you were forced to partake in the wrongful robbing of people's lives yourself, were you not? through war. an organized form of slaughter, glamorized to appear necessary by the masses, where there is no true victor. where everyone loses something and you are left feeling full of rage because of what you were coerced to do. ❞
the chill running through bunny mask's bones only intensified when she saw it on the ground. a doll, abandoned by it's owner, within the ash. bunny mask's voice became low, ❝ i am sorry. i am... so sorry. ❞

Post-adrenaline puking
For @monthofsick day 6
Prompt List | AO3 | Ask | Rules
Warnings: Vomiting, near death experience, nightmare reference, imagined death (?) (thinking about "what if [character] died")
A/N:
No ask for this one, just my own brain thinking it'd be great if Cyno and Tighnari were fighting together and then Cyno almost died and he's totally fine but Tighnari is horrifically shaken up by the whole experience.
There was something uniquely exhilarating about fighting with Cyno. Although Tighnari was more than capable of handling The Withering on his own or with his team of forest rangers, something about teaming up with the person Tighnari was closest to enhanced his own strengths. As a general rule of thumb, Tighnari didn’t much like fighting, but this… he would never admit it out loud, but fighting alongside Cyno felt more like play.
They took down the last ruin monster together, and despite the energy-sucking effects of The Withering, Tighnari felt like he could fight ten more as he moved to destroy the tumor. A single shot should do it, now the they’d destroyed the monsters and the branches. And yet… It didn’t. Tighnari frowned. Had he missed? A sense of foreboding rose in his bones, but he brushed it off as he heard Cyno laugh.
“Tighnari! What does an archer say when he misses his target?”
Tighnari ignored this, taking aim for a second shot. As he did so, he heard three things:
The complete silence of the wind
Cyno’s carefree voice saying, “Oh, bow”
A creak that comes not from nature, but machinery
He whipped around just in time to a final infected ruin monster appear behind Cyno, already charging up. He didn’t know how it had gotten past both of them, but he knew without a doubt that it could take his partner from him forever with a single strike.
“Cyno!” Tighnari’s stomach flipped; he felt felt the blood drain from his face and with it went any sense of fun. For a moment where time was frozen, Tighnari saw snapshots of Cyno, making unfunny jokes to lighten a tense mood, playing TCG with the highest degree of intensity, returning to their home weary to the bone but full of love after months of nonstop work. He saw him helping Collei through panic attacks, reminding her that her illness did not define her or make her weak, tucking her in after a bad dream and staying with her the better part of the night, teaching her tracking and spatial awareness to ensure she’d be able to sense when danger was near. He saw Cyno as he was years ago, awkward and uncertain in the early stages of their friendship, recalled the wonder in Cyno’s face as Tighnari taught him how to brush his tail. He saw Cyno asleep in their bed, peaceful and entirely relaxed and safe.
Then he saw Cyno, cold and stiff. Lying flat, but not sleeping. Entirely unmoving. This Cyno he had seen before, too, many times since his dreams had returned, but only ever in the worst of his nightmares.
And then the hands of time began ticking, and Tighnari lost track of himself. He had a thought that he’d need multiple shots to take it down, and then he was moving. Two shots from a distance, running closer before the second one hit. The machines weapon went off, its laser beam striking too close to Cyno for comfort, but Tighnari’s body continued to move. Positioning himself in close quarters and knowing that he could hit its weak point up to five times in succession if he got lucky.
He did get lucky, but it didn’t feel that way. There was no immediate sense of relief as the ruin monster fell to the ground. Tighnari wasted no time destroying the tumor. The Withering cleared, but his chest stayed tight and painful, and oxygen felt just out of his grasp. He heard Cyno whistle and then speak as though he were a mile away.
“Wow, that was kinda hot. I had no idea you could–” Cyno’s breath stuck in his throat the moment he caught sight of Tighnari. Ears pinned to his head, tail quivering weakly, eyes wide. A single glance and he could tell something was wrong. He just didn’t know what.
Then Tighnari doubled over and vomited, and Cyno was at his side assessing the damage before a single thought crossed his mind.
“Are you hurt,” he demanded. No response, just a moan and a shuddering back, and then a hand clasping Cyno’s arm, tight. “Tighnari.”
“‘m fine,” the forest watcher mumbled, voice hollow and still thick with nausea; decidedly unconvincing. A harsh heave brought another wave of puke splattering across the uneven forest floor. Cyno held his companion steady with his free hand on Tighnari’s shoulder. When the retching stopped, the matra took it upon himself to conduct a quick but thorough examination, only breathing a sigh of relief after he confirmed that Tighnari had sustained exclusively surface level injuries.
“Right,” Cyno spoke with an attempt at confidence. “You’re okay.”
Except Tighnari did not look okay at all. His skin was washed out and covered in beads of sweat, and his ears stayed pressed into damp hair. The way he gasped for air made Cyno’s chest hurt. Most concerning were his eyes: unblinking and dilated, red-ringed but dry, they traced all of Cyno’s movements as if tied to him by invisible strings.
“You–” Tighnari started, only to be cut off with a retch. His grip on Cyno’s arm tightened impossibly further. Cyno didn’t mind; he simply moved closer and rubbed firm circles onto the ill forest watcher’s arched back until he threw up again and his airways cleared. Cyno was rattled, impatient for an explanation and reassurance, but not enough to rush Tighnari into speaking. He took a slow breath before speaking again.
“Let’s sit." The matra’s voice was deliberately soft with the suggestion, and his movements as he guided Tighnari to rest on a fallen tree were gentle. He was still clearly feeling unwell. He curled up, one arm wrapped around his knees, feet pulled close to his body, looking much smaller than he was. Even his tail had curled closely around him. Every so often a wet burp would bubble out of him, but Cyno doubted there was anything left in his stomach. Since he hadn't brought any extra supplies, Cyno used his own bare hand to wipe the area around Tighnari’s mouth clean. He tried not to think too hard about what it meant that Tighnari, who was usually so insistent about taking care of himself, expressed no resistance to this action. He still hadn’t let go of Cyno’s arm, though his grip eased somewhat over time. As Cyno eyed the place where their skin touched, he thought about how scared he had been at the idea of Tighnari being hurt; he thought about the number of times Tighnari had examined him for injuries, and the intensity of his gaze just minutes ago.
“Ah,” Cyno said quietly. It was so obvious. “I’m okay.”
The words, simple as they were, clearly meant a great deal to Tighnari. His tail twitched and unraveled, brushing Cyno’s shoulder and falling to rest nested between both of their thighs. Tighnari’s eyes, which had been staring blankly at the ground in front of him, drifted to Cyno’s face.
“You almost died,” Tighnari croaked. A shiver ran down Cyno’s spine.
He didn’t know if Tighnari was right, though he trusted the forest watcher’s judgement. He wanted to deny it. He knew, really, that it didn’t matter exactly how close he had come to fighting his last. If he had scared Tighnari to this extent… He didn’t know how to fix it.
“I’m sorry,” he said, both helplessly and genuine. “I didn’t mean to.”
Tighnari’s eyes crinkled at the corners, his nose twitching. His mouth quirked up slightly, like he wanted to laugh but was too tired to muster up the energy. “I know.”
Cyno nodded. There was a much bigger conversation to be had, he knew, but now was not the time. Tighnari’s complexion had improved somewhat, but he was still incredibly shaky. His grip on Cyno’s forearm had weakened, and he had slumped against Cyno’s side. It was… disconcerting, seeing how steady he usually was, and Cyno wanted him to rest and feel better as soon as possible.
“Do you still feel sick?”
Tighnari took a moment to answer, and Cyno knew he was taking stock of his body. He waited silently, comfortable with this familiar process, until Tighnari shook his head. “Not sick, just tired and weak. I–” He hesitated and Cyno offered when he hoped was an encouraging expression. Tighnari’s cheeks flushed pink. “I’m not sure I can walk, to be honest.”
This was not surprising to Cyno. “I’ll carry you.”
The blush darkened. Cyno stood, facing away from Tighnari, and nodded at his own back. “Get on.”
Tighnari scoffed audibly, and then there was a soft “You’re ridiculous,” but soon a weight settled against Cyno and he smiled slightly.
“What did the forest ranger say to the fox?” He asked. Tighnari groaned, Cyno’s smile grew, and together, they set off towards home.
