#tw human experimentation
Text
When Snow Falls
Chuuya notices somethings off with Tachihara and learns the government's human experiments didn't end with him.
Spoilers for Stormbringer.
TW for child abuse, human experimentation and there's a mention of suicide (Tachihara brings up his brother.)
@tachiharastanacc An attempt was made 😅
........................
Chuuya knew this was none of his business, but when had that ever stopped him. The mission with the Black Lizards earlier had gone as smooth as ever. But there was something amiss.
The Black Lizards had been fighting their way out. But it didn't escape Chuuya they had been protecting Tachihara. Rashomon seemed to hover near the other boy when the bullets started firing.
Gin was at Tachihara's otherside and Hirotsu would look back at him often, with concern.
Chuuya had looked through Tachihara's files, there was no mention of prior injuries or incident reports. And the kid wasn't weak, far from it considering he made it to the Black Lizards.
And yet, Chuuya recalled Tachihara's performance on the mission. He'd executed his attacks well, but he moved slower than usual.
Chuuya hadn't gotten a good look at him, but Tachihara had been pale. And when he thought no one was looking he'd wince.
And yeah maybe he was just sick and pushing through it to complete his mission.
But Chuuya's instincts screamed at him that was something wrong. Something beyond some simple sickness.
His instincts had yet to fail him. With that in mind, and dread in his stomach Chuuya took off into the night.
Finding Tachihara wasn't hard. It didn't take long for Chuuya to spot him sitting at the docks. Tachihara didn't notice Chuuya approach until he was right behind him.
Not a good sign for someone who's team mate was Gin. Someone who Tachihara frequently caught sneaking up on him.
Tachihara blinked, looking up at his superior. His legs were dangling off the edge and his arms wrapped around himself like he was cold.
Chuuya froze at the sight of him. He hadn't gotten a good look at him during the mission. But up close he could see just how bad the kid looked.
In the dim light of the docks, Tachihara looked like a corpse.
"Shit..." Said Chuuya, before he could stop himself. Tachihara's hands were at his sides, gripping the edge of the docks. They were shaking and it was clear he'd lost weight.
He smiled at Chuuya, and it made Chuuya sick to know that if he wasn't aware something was clearly wrong, he might've bought it. Just how long had Tachihara been putting on this carefree facade?
"Nakahara? Hey, fancy seeing you out here." Said Tachihara, he was suprised to see the executive. The man would usually be having tea with Kouyou at this hour.
What was he doing out here?
"Tachihara" said Chuuya, making it very clear he wasn't going go entertain this sharade at all.
Tachihara's smile wavered, before it fell entirely. He was almost glad, because it meant he didn't have to pretend anymore.
He didn't need to keep lying to the people he loved.
Tachihara smiled, it was genuine unlike the last one. It was wistful and sad as he looked to the moonlit sky. "I'm dying" It was said so quietly that Chuuya thought he'd misheard him.
"What?! What do you mean?! Are you hurt?!" Asked Chuuya, he swore he'd not seen an incident report earlier. Had he been wrong? Why was Tachihara out here and not in the infirmary?!
Tachihara shook his head, relaxed like he hadn't just dropped a bombshell. "Nah. There ain't a scratch in me. My body's just, shutting down." He debates whether to explain or not. "Might wanna sit, it's a long one."
Chuuya raises an eyebrow, but moves to sit beside him and gestures for him to go on.
"When I was a kid I looked up to my big brother. He was the perfect model son and everyone wanted me to grow up to be just like him. I hated it, more than anything."
Tachihara snorted. The irony that he had tried everything to avoid being like Shunzen. Only to follow in his footsteps like an imperfect copy.
"He was a soilder who got sent out the Great War. He didn't die in battle, not the physical kind that is... He killed himself."
Tachihara could still remember that morning. His dad had been hysterics and his mum was yelling at the medic on the phone for lying to her.
He'd just been sat in the middle of it all, forgotten and confused.
Chuuya wordlessly took off his hat bowing his head in respect. Tachihara was suprised by the sentiment. And touched by it all the same. Chuuya didn't apologise to him, nor offer him empty words.
Not like everyone else had done.
Tachihara had to look away lest he started tearing up. "With him home, the pressure only grew. But instead now it was that it should've been me."
And maybe this was Tachihara's karma for being the brother who survived.
"I said to hell with that. I rebelled, I broke the rules, got into fights and my grades went down the drain. I got caught up in a bank robbery, there was an explosion... I don't really remember it, only that I should've died."
Tachihara took a deep breath that rattled his lungs. "My brother, he had an ability. He could turn metal into shapes from stories and poetry. I was jealous he had one, and that night I learned I had one too."
Tachihara raised his hand and the metal chain on Chuuya's hat swung back and forth at his command.
He winces, putting his hand down, cancelling his ability. "He could make shapes but I can bend metal to my will. In the same way you bend gravity to yours."
Chuuya can only look at him in shock. To think Tachihara had an ability this whole time and no one had known.
The small show seemed to have sucked the energy out of him. But Chuuya could sense just how strong Tachihara truly was. "Why hide it?"
Tachihara looks down at his now shaking hand, ashamed. "I'll get to it, I promise." Chuuya frowns, but let's him continue.
"So I managed to save myself, but barely. I was crushed under rubble but I was saved by the police. When I woke up I thought I was in a hospital. But it only looked like one, it was a secret government lab."
Chuuya's blood ran cold. He swore his heart stopped.
Tachihara, didn't notice and kept talking. "The scientists saved me, but their was a price." Tachihara took another deep breath, it was painful to recount.
"They put me back together, but there was something different. My body wasn't as it was before."
Chuuya knows he should say something, anything. But he can't, his mind is blank. All he can do is sit and stare at Tachihara, at this kid with horror.
Finally, after only a moment but felt forever Chuuya managed to bring himself to ask. "Kid... What did they do to you?"
Tachihara smiled sadly, closing his eyes. "You know, to this day I still don't know." He admitted, and if that didn't break Chuuya's heart, what would?
He knew, he knew what it was like to feel like your body wasn't yours. To feel like a microchip implanted into a robot, it was a pain he wouldn't wish on anyone.
"What was their goal. Cause I'm guessing they didn't save you out of the goodness of their heart."
There was always a goal, always a project and a purpose that these sick bastards had in mind.
For Chuuya it was Arahabaki, for Verlaine it was Guivre. He didn't think it was the same for Tachihara, to create an ability singularity.
The kid's ability was strong but not that strong.
"Whatever they did it was experimental. It didn't save me completely, I'd need monthly "examinations" a touch up if you will, to keep me alive. They'd only do it though if I accepted the position to become the fifth Hunting Dog."
The Hunting Dogs were a group of elite gifted, hell elite didn't even begin to describe to them.
They were the top squad of the military police. It was said one of their members were equal to the strength of an army of gifted.
Chuuya didn't put much stock in rumours like that, but they don't come from nothing. "You accepted because without them you'd die."
Tachihara finally looks at Chuuya, his eyes shining with greif and shame.
"Yeah, I did. I was trained, if you could call it that. I was cut up and put back together, over and over. I became what they wanted, and agreed to join the Port Mafia as a spy."
He doesn't let himself move, doesn't let himself look away. The shame weighs on his heart but looking away now would be the cowards way out.
But maybe he was already the coward, given Tachihara had intended on letting this all die with him.
"Tachihara, why are you dying?" Asked Chuuya, his voice soft and kind. The exact opposite of what Tachihara expected, he just admitted he was a traitor... Why was Chuuya being so nice?
"I... What?"
"You said they'd keep you alive so long as you did what they asked, right?" Summarises Chuuya, getting a nod from Tachihara. It takes all of his own training for Chuuya to stay calm.
"So why aren't they doing that now?"
Realisation blooms in Tachihara's heart, because Chuuya figured it out. He laughs, he's not entirely sure why but he laughs. It rattles his entire body and it brings him to tears.
"I wasn't supposed to like you guys. It's the first rule of being a spy, don't get attached. But... Fuck I got attached, too attached. I gave a report, I missed some information that would've hurt the Port Mafia. It would've cost lives and I couldn't do it."
Tachihara wrapped his arms around himself. It took a lot of effort just to move them. It hurt so much, like his soul was on fire.
"They found out. Pushed my my maintenance day till end of the month. That's why I'm dying, Nakahara. Cause they know, and I know I can't wait that long."
Those bastards... Chuuya was going to kill them. Government or not, he was going to make them feel the pain of being crushed by gravity. Who forces a child to make such a choice?!
Tachihara coughs, blood staining the floor before him. He smiles "they think I'll crawl back and beg for forgiveness but I won't."
There's a fire in his eyes, a stubborn determination even in his weakened state. "I cleaned their system of everything I ever told em. It's all gone."
This, this was strength. Chuuya could only marvel at the sacrifice Tachihara had made. And he wasn't the only one.
There's a moment of silence before Chuuya holds up his phone. "Did you catch all of that, Boss?" He asks, Tachihara looks at him in shock.
He hadn't seen Chuuya subtly call Mori as they started talking.
"Oh yes Chuuya, but Tachihara I have my own question. Why would you go so far for us? You know what the Port Mafia does to traitors." Asks Mori, his voice coming loud and clear from the speaker phone.
Intrigue colouring every word.
And while he couldn't see him, Tachihara still bowed his head in respect.
"It probably sounds stupid but... Ever since that day, I was treated less than a person. I survived, but I wasn't human anymore. I was a government lab rat."
If Chuuya didn't want to kill them all, that certainty made his blood boil.
He's all too familiar with the craving, the dull ache in your heart as you wonder it that's enough to make you human.
To question whether you were the original. To think you were simply lines of code imbeded in flesh. It had damn near broken Chuuya, and he had people who loved him.
He had crumbled in the hands of those who believed, unwavering that he was human. Chuuya couldn't image thinking that for years, and suffering alone.
The fact this all was going on under his nose, pissed him off. Chuuya had swore to protect those he cared about, and he'd failed.
Tachihara, unaware of Chuuya's turmoil, was turning over Mori's question in his mind. He chuckles but it's not funny.
"I'm not even the first person to be the fifth Hunting Dog. I'm just the next one they picked up. That's, why I had to hide my ability, from everyone so no one would know I wasn't the first.
And I probably won't be the last. Being in the Port Mafia, it's the first time I've felt human. I couldn't let that be destroyed, no matter what."
"I've heard enough" Says Mori and Tachihara falls silent. "Chuuya, I trust you to deliver him to Infirmary 4B. It's the closest one to your location."
"I'm on it." Says Chuuya. Tachihara raises his head, confused. As if reading his mind, Mori chuckles.
"Oh Tachihara, the government might have decided you weren't worth saving but last I checked I was the Boss. And all you've done is prove you're truly one of ours. You're going to live, and that's an order."
Tachihara let those words run through him, he was shocked to say the least. "I... Okay" is what he ended up saying, because words were failing him. Mori just chuckled again, signing off.
"Why did you...?" Trials off Tachihara, looking at Chuuya in shock. Chuuya smiles, it's sad as it is kind. "Cause I know what it's like, to be ripped apart and turned into a government lab rat."
He rests a hand on Tachihara's shoulder. "But kid, nothing they do takes away that you're human."
Tachihara looks at him, akin to a starving man being handed food. He's spent so long questioning his own humanity.
And for someone to look him in the eye, and say 'you're human' with no hesitation....Tears well up in his eyes and he's powerless to stop them as they fall.
Chuuya hugs him close as Tachihara sobs. He let him down, he let him down and allowed this to go on. Not anymore, Chuuya was going to protect him. Just like he should have all along.
He helps him to his feet, practically carrying him to his bike. And from his bike to the infirmary.
"Could you..." Tachihara trials off, embarrassed and Chuuya chuckles ruffling his hair. It takes Tachihara aback at first, no ones done that since his brother died.
It was nice.
"I'll be right here when you wake up." Promised Chuuya, nodding his head to a nearby chair. Tachihara smiled "thanks, Nakahara, for everything."
Chuuya rolls his eyes with a fond smile. "Call me Chuuya, and kid you don't need to thank me for anything. The Port Mafia is my family, that includes you."
Tachihara chuckles "alright, but Akutugawa might be my cooler older brother." He narrowly avoids Chuuya's playful swat and laughs. Tachihara is eventually lead away as the Port Mafia's medical team do their jobs.
Unfortunately, Tachihara would still need the maintenance no matter what they'd do.
Tachihara's body had been fundamentally altered in a way that could not be reversed. But at least now, everyone knew and would make sure he could get through it all painlessly and humanely.
Less human experimentation and more regular surgery.
He wasn't a lab rat.
He wouldn't be ever again.
Not if Chuuya and the rest of the Port Mafia had any say in it.
Akutugawa had been livid, he'd berated Tachihara for being an idiot the moment he was cleared to go home. Tachihara just listened, suprised and was informed Akutugawa had stormed in and hadn't left his side at all.
Hirotsu had patted his shoulder with a kind smile. Higuchi had bought a basket of snacks and had chastised him for keeping it all a secret. Gin had been right there guarding the door.
Chuuya kept his word, having been fantasing what to do with the Government scientists involved. The rest of the Black Lizard chiming in their preferred torture method.
And Tachihara? He had never felt more loved.

Ramble...7? I think? Anyway: On the topic of Radiation
So. As per the ADHD. I was getting sucked into a morbid curiosity black hole re: radium.
And I found out about this guy, Eben BYERS, whose entire jaw fell off after being treated with radium in the late 1920s. (Disturbing image of Eben Byers below the cut at the very end for reference.)
So obviously I went "lol What the Fuck", because of course I would when something horrific happens to someone with the last name Byers, and when I tell you this guy and his brother (L and R respectively) are DEFINITELY from the ST Byers family??? But like...if the ST Byers were real people. I mean just look at them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So of course I was like "Okay. Jesus Christ. WHAT is going on in the house of commons, because this is peak Stranger Things-type body horror", which landed me back in human experimentation territory.
Turns out, there was a whole raft of radium based shit going on, mostly between 1940-1970, mainly children being used as test subjects for nasopharyngeal radium irradiation (NRI), which was meant to treat a bunch of conditions.
(An aside: NRI is known to damage the soft tissues of the nose, and you know who has no fucking nose???
Vecna/Henry. Do with that what you will.)
One thing that really stuck with me, though, is that radium glows bright green. Sound familiar?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know plutonium was mentioned, especially in regard to the manhattan project, where plutonium is depicted as glowing bright green. That said...plutonium is not a bright, glowing green in real life. This is plutonium in solution.
Tumblr media
Either way, discussing this with Aemiron brought me around to looking at radiation in regard to MKUltra. Lo and behold...
Tumblr media
Radiation treatments. In MKUltra. Which was canonically happening in Hawkins.
And then Aemiron brought up the point about Will and the Jaws poster, as well as The Thing, which evidently starts with the mouth when it turns victims inside out. Which, this all sounded an awful lot like the Flayed (melted) to me.
I don't have a point here, not yet, but I could have some absolutely horrifying ST5 Mike Vecna vision theories in regard to this weird coincidence (?).
One last thing about the Byers family (irl)? Eben's brother had a child named Nancy and a child named Buckley. Interesting on the names, huh?
Tumblr media
--
Another thing that interested me while I was reading the case document (where the screenshot about MKUltra came from) was the Green Run project back from 1949.
Tumblr media
Xenon-133 is an asphyxiant. You know who "officially" died from exposure to an experimental chemical asphyxiant? BARB.
There's already some radiation fuckery going on in Hawkins. But it just keeps going.
--
Along the lines of radiation in general, though.
The demogorgon, Henry's transformation, and just ST4 in general smacks of Chernobyl. If any of you have watched Chernobyl, you'll know what I'm talking about.
I have comparison pictures here for cinematography and character design, but also others under the cut (those ones are kind of gruesome).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What is going on here?
In conclusion: What on earth????????
And more importantly...what the hell are we going to see in ST5?
Eben Byers (Jawless)
Tumblr media
Henry vs Vasily Ignatenko's Radiation Poisoning
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Plus the Demogorgon for good measure re: skin texture vs radiation burns)

Yana, when we said we wanted more of Finnian’s backstory, we did not mean watching him suffer traumatic reminders of his past as a human experiment. 💔

𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒓(s): Jeff The Killer, Homicidal Liu/Sully, Jane Richardson, Nina The Killer, Clockwork
𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑾𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈: Tbh there aren't many mentions of anything happening, but here's a warning for very brief mentions of human experimentation and demonic presences.
These are all HEADCANON and I do not intend for any of these interpretations to be entirely canon. These are how I see the characters and some rules of the world.

Aging in my Creepypasta universe works like this– unless you don’t completely have a physical form and died early, your body can only age until 25 years old. This is in place to make sure that the body is useful enough but also so that it’s easier for the pastas to get around. For those over this age, they stay at the age they currently are.
The mysterious haunted woods and the Slendermansion therein exist, but not many actually reside there permanently. If the pasta needs technology, is a proxy of Slender, or is willing to meet the requirements to stay, mainly being serving Slender, then they reside there. Other pastas visit but they either live in their own settlements in the woods, or they look and behave in a certain way that allows them to live among society.
Anybody listed as “Nonconforming Humanoid Entity” in regards to species just means that either they are/were human and  we don’t know what they are or that they were never human and… we still don’t know what they are.
Slender isn’t fatherly to anyone that he doesn’t need to be and is not afraid to take away privileges he has given the people who live under him. He is manipulative and crueler than hell itself.
Creepypasta fans do exist in this universe. They can see you. :)

before I nap away the unwell feeling thinking about c!dream studying literally everything about c!tommy again. seeing literally every part of him as fascinating in the same way a newly discovered and strange phenomenon might be. from innocuous or even sweet out of context things like testing to see how much he enjoys and is capable of every activity you can name and figuring out ways to make him smile, to dutifully and obsessively categorising his response to every sort of traumatic experience possible and seeing how quickly he responds to triggering stimuli, to stuff like dissections and testing how long it takes for various serious injuries to heal. and he'll never run out of stuff to test and even if he did he finds everything fascinating enough to repeat again and again and again forever. the results are as captivating as the mystery.

Thinking about how Orochimaru’s first clone(son?) Is called ‘log’ and if it’s supposed to be a reference to the unit 731 naming of human experiments as ‘logs’ to completely dehumanize them. And like if it is how much sense it makes that he's essentially pardoned for his atrocities because of their potential medical use… and how fucked that is

rune speaks about remnant & rotten old men becoming computer viruses
in my version of gli.tchtrap, it actually IS william to an extent. not the version of him that got springtrapped though it does have a partial memory of that, kind of like it’s watched it happen in a movie, but the part of him he used remnant to extract and put into the computer. this is gonna be rambling probably bear with me ALSO IF YOU WRITE ANY OF THE CHARACTERS MENTIONED. your canon takes precedence in my threads w u!!! — this is just me trying to sort this out in my head svkxbdk
trigger warnings for child death / murder, human experimentation, mental instability, self harm ( but because of self experimentation ), general dark themes !
so remnant !!!! is kind of a weird ambiguous thing in my canon mainly because i haven’t thought much about it. it keeps william alive, it’s extracted from the blood of those that have suffered agony in their last few moments, without agony it’s less potent and kind of useless. it extends lifespan and gives users extra invincibility against horrific injuries, but mainly just keeps them alive no matter what state their body is in. that’s the extent of development i’ve done of remnant in my canon so far.
but i’ve been toying with what gli.tchtrap actually IS recently and think it’s explicitly linked to william’s experimentation. because of course he experimented on himself too — he HAD to. he wasn’t about to waste remnant on anyone else, and he wasn’t about to give anyone else a substance that kept them alive and then experiment on them: that would just create more problems for him lmao. so yeah, 100% experimented on himself, very carefully, and gli.tch.trap is the result of william realizing he could utilise his OWN remnant for his own gain.
so remnant: the substance that keeps the spirits tethered to animatronics and to their bodies, right. but it exists in everyone: it’s only made POTENT by the release of a chemical / substance during bodily agony. this . . . doesn’t actually mean DEATH, though. william kills because it’s much easier to deal with dead people than deal with leaving them alive after putting them through agony — it makes more sense to him to kill them instead of dealing with the fallout ( and because it gives him that extra rush and them that extra despair ). if, then, he can extract remnant & agony WITHOUT killing . . . there’s no real reason he can’t extract his own.
which means what, then ? well, it means that william probably at LEAST once or twice inflicted excruciating pain on himself to bottle his own agony & remnant. probably at his most unhinged ( just before liz died ). he’s not thinking straight, he’s sleeping maybe like. four hours every few days, he’s killing and experimenting and generally at his most unstable. there’s no real reason he WOULDN’T experiment on himself, first out of curiosity, then out of the realization he can use his OWN remnant to further his lifespan — rather than keeping THIS body alive, he can use it to tether an ‘imprint’ of himself to something else.
to a computer.
remnant essentially is just that, in my canon: an imprint. a ghost of a person in their worst most painful moments, tethered to the living world while the actual REAL part passes on or in william’s case springlocked in eternal agonising life. so glitchtr.a.p is . . . just that. the part of william at his most unstable and powerful, captured forever in that computer virus that its creator transferred it to. it’s not william exactly. but it’s also not NOT william. it’s like a snapshot of him captured in time with one fixed personality and one fixed goal, unable to ever change or develop unless it gets corrupted or something idk. it’s clever, and knows how to manipulate to get its own way, but it’s not . Fully William ? it has his wants, goals, needs, memories, feelings from the late 80s. it sees itself as human, in a way. and it acts that way: it can be affected by emotion and experience in the exact manner of way that william would have been, at the time of its creation.
but whereas william deteriorated drastically after liz’s death ( which happened like. 1989/1990-ish in my canon, but obv changes dependent on who i’m writing with as does all of this post!!!! ), the part of him that is glitch.tr.ap does NOT. it retains that same feverish dangerous personality, still fixated on killing & eternal life, whereas william in reality kind of . . . falls apart. first time experiencing real consequences to his actions and first time he can’t blame someone else. this last part is v dependent on who i’m writing with so is v open to changing but this is how i set out writing william: mounting in instability & power until liz’s death, where he shrinks, and begins to try and focus more on trying to move on with his life. glitch.t.r.ap doesn’t have this though — he’s william frozen in time essentially, forever at that height of his work.

HOW ARE YOU ALL ALIVE???
N: Hoooo boy. You all… are probably in severe need of a recap. A lot has happened in the last… what, two hours? And even before that…
August: okay but I get to do the recap cause I was in the middle of it all!
Blake: hey, hey, hold on- I was missing for well over a month and presumed DEAD! I probably have like, a billion questions to answer, let me do it-
Hugh: Oh my god, we can ALL do the recap together, you idiots. We all kinda have our own piece of the story to tell, anyways.
N: Right, right, so where do I start… Well, a few days ago, I managed to find Zekrom again. After seeing what happened in Opelucid, we both decided it was time to end Team Plasma once and for all.
August: and while N was busy tracking them down, Hugh and I were following their trail! basically, after a LONG week of traveling, we made it to Humilau City and found their frigate hidden close by. Cheren, Hugh and I raided it, hoping to dismantle whatever super weapon they’d used to freeze Opelucid… but at one point we got chased off. except for me! I stowed away to find out where they were going. I told Hugh to rendezvous with Cheren and these ex-Team Plasma guys who were also there hoping to destroy the weapon at the giant chasm. also, their super weapon was Kyurem btw- from what Drayden told me, its the third piece of the original dragon. yknow, the thing Reshiram and Zekrom used to be a part of. basically its the husk that was left over after they split… and the DNA splicers- the artifact that Team Plasma stole and modified- could be used to fuse them all back together.
Hugh: The frigate landed, and while August went after Ghetsis and Kyurem, I raided the ship in search of my little sister’s stolen Purrloin. I… found it, but it’s a Liepard now and doesn’t recognize me. But… I’ll worry about all that later.
August: while I was fighting Ghetsis, N and Zekrom came flying in seconds before it tried to kill me.
N: Zekrom had picked up on Kyurem’s pain and tracked it- that’s how we managed to get there, in the nick of time no less. But… I wasn’t prepared for what Ghetsis- my… father, had planned. He used the DNA splicers to fuse Zekrom and Kyurem…
August: I tried to defeat it, but the thing was too strong. we were seconds away from losing when- lo and behold- RESHIRAM decided to show up to the party
Blake: uh huh, so basically, I didn’t die, which is good! Plasma just faked it to make an example out of me- originally I think they… were going to genuinely kill me, but Colress convinced Ghetsis I could still be useful in helping them find Reshiram.
Blake: they, uh… I’m not sure what they used to make that video look legit, but I have my suspicions. as far as I’m aware, they still have Nox, whose illusions are close to perfect, so- that’s my guess, at least. I just… really hope he survived that hit.
N: ….
Blake: …anyways, while I was being held captive that Colress freak ran some experiments on me. I lied and told them I couldn’t call Reshiram to my side on a whim, so he just opted to experiment on my chosen abilities to try and make me summon it.
Blake: it was… pretty messed up, not gonna lie. I’m not gonna go into detail about it. but it did help me tap into some of my powers. I can summon fire in my hand now, but more importantly, I learned to communicate with Reshiram across long distances via telepathy- not that I told any of this to Colress, of course. so then began me and Reshi’s silent planning- I told him to keep his distance until the time was right. eventually, I learned about the Kyurem project, and what they were planning to do once they got their hands on Reshi.
Blake: when the frigate landed in the giant chasm, I had NO idea August was even on board or planning to take on Ghetsis. my plan was to let Kyurem start its little region-freezing spree, wait until it needed a moment to recharge and catch its breath, then swoop in on Reshi while it was weakened and take Ghetsis out.
Blake: but as you can probably tell, that… didn’t end up being what happened. I heard the guards shout something about seeing Zekrom fly in after them, so Reshi and I jumped into action. It… it was rash and stupid, I know, but ever since I learned about N being back in Unova I’ve been worrying myself sick thinking about what might happen if Ghetsis caught word. of what he might do to him.
Blake: I managed to stun Black Kyurem, but not for long. it… well, the moment I arrived Ghetsis was quick to finish what he started.
August: Kyurem absorbed Reshiram, too, and now…
N: The original dragon is off on a violent rampage around Unova.
Hugh: Yeah, I got there just in time to see that monstrosity blow a hole in the chasm and trap Ghetsis under a pile of boulders. It’s not following his command anymore, by the looks of it, but it’s definitely not on our side either.
Blake: it was like the dragons were all struggling for control in one body…
N: And now its off in the far north of the region, flattening mountain ranges- thankfully there’s not a lot of civilization out there, but its only a matter of time before it reaches a city or town.
August: after everything ended, Keldeo found me again and said he knows someone who might be able to help. and like, we need all the help we can get obviously, so now we’re following him to wherever this backup of his is.
August: aaand now you’re all caught up! here’s to hoping whatever Keldeo wants to show us can help us split the dragons again. the DNA splicers were destroyed with Ghetsis, so… this could be our only hope…

Vanessa Preston, 22 (USA 1980)
Tumblr media
Vanessa Preston was 22 and married to a preacher. In 1980 she went to the Fairmount abortion facility in Dallas. Her husband and her little son were with her.
The abortionist who killed Vanessa and her baby was Curtis Boyd. Vanessa underwent a D&E abortion, which killed her baby by dismemberment. This type of abortion was experimental at the time.
During the abortion, Vanessa suffered from multiple vaginal punctures and the placenta was left inside of her. She also suffered a grand mal seizure and cardiac arrest. CPR was administered and her heart started beating again.
An ambulance was called, but by the time it arrived Vanessa’s heart had stopped again. (To his credit, Boyd had actually had an ambulance called very quickly, which is not a standard upheld during almost any emergencies at abortion facilities.) Paramedics brought her to the hospital where she underwent an exploratory surgery to try to find and fix the internal damage that had been done to her. About 40 minutes into her surgery, Vanessa’s heart stopped again. In her last day of life, she was given 24 units of blood, but the massive blood loss was unstoppable. For an hour and a half, doctors at the hospital tried in vain to resuscitate Vanessa before finally pronouncing her dead.
Vanessa’s autopsy revealed that amniotic fluid leaked into her bloodstream through the punctures in her reproductive system, causing a blood clotting disorder called disseminated intravascular coagulopathy (DIC). This was the cause of the cardiac arrest and the abnormal blood loss. She also had a 3-millimeter laceration to the liver from when CPR was administered. This laceration normally would not have threatened her life, but because the amniotic fluid had been allowed to enter her bloodstream through her injuries, her blood did not clot properly and she continued to bleed from the laceration until she died.
Boyd, to his credit, did actually report Vanessa’s death to the Centers for Disease Control. He also wrote a medical journal article about her death, warning other abortionists that DIC could occur during second-trimester D&E abortions (but did neglect to mention some of the injuries he had inflicted on her). However, he later went on to kill Keisha Atkins in another abortion experiment. Keisha’s death was the subject of a lawsuit after attempts were made to hide the fact that her abortion had killed her. Had Boyd been stopped after the experimental abortion that killed Vanessa, maybe Keisha would be alive today.
