The thing that I’ve been thinking of is… so one of Dib’s most defining traits and flaws is supposed to be his desire for fame and emotional validation. You know he is fighting to protect the earth, but he’s also fighting for the sake of his own ego
Tumblr media
It’s got a lot of fun potential because it’s both extremely understandable - he’s been bullied and emotionally neglected for his entire life, it’s no wonder his biggest fantasy is just to be loved - but it can also motivate some really selfish acts. Not to mention how much it acts as a mirror to Zim’s own desire for respect and prestige among his own people.
And because of that, I guess it actually kinda surprises me that they never tried to have Dib pull a… reverse Planet Jackers moment? Like, just as Zim will protect the Earth from outside threats because he wants the credit for destroying it - will Dib help Zim if his ability to get credit for defeating him is threatened?
Like, I imagine a story where maybe Dib meets a rival paranormal investigator, and the guy’s like a Super Mega Asshole to Dib and also thinks he’s crazy. And then this guy manages to capture Zim and it seems like he’s going to be the one to expose him to the world and get all the credit for foiling his infiltration scheme. The credit that Dib feels he rightly deserves. Or he simply get a chance to defeat Zim, but there are no witnesses and no evidence and no chance anyone will ever believe him.
For Dib, stopping Zim and proving to the world that he’s been right all along have always been interwoven goals. He has always taken it for granted that doing the former will naturally lead to the latter… So how will he deal with a situation where Zim can be stopped for good, but his situation will not change. No one will know or believe what he just did, he would just be the same ridiculed social pariah - the only thing he actually accomplished is that he has gotten rid of his best chance to change that permanently.
And you know, he doesn’t necessarily have to take that chance to help Zim or let him go - even just having Dib struggle with the idea momentarily could be a very strong character moment for him. I think it’s a shamefully underutilized aspect of his canon characterization and I do hope we’d get to see it played with more one of these days.
But you know which piece of canon really came closest to tackling this aspect?
Dib’s little plan for Zim in ETF is not quite exactly what I was talking about above - but there are some similarities.
I’ve seen some people talk about Dib’s ETF plan like it was meant to be a favor to Zim or some sort of attempt at redemption for him or like… a thing that Zim benefit from in any sort of way? Like, I've seen some people describe the plot of ETF like Zim's manipulation of Dib’s plan was him using Dib’s kindness and empathy against him? And that’s not exactly what’s happening here.
To recap, Dib tries to stage yet another confrontation between himself and Zim (to let off steam from his Daddy Issues) only to find Zim a total emotional wreck, depressed to the point of total apathy. His first instinct is to drag him away to ‘lock him up’ but... he’s not really feeling it.
Tumblr media
Something’s not quite right about winning like this. And then, he shifts to empathy
Tumblr media
But then, he shifts again, when he realizes the ‘real’ thing he’s been missing - a crowd.
Tumblr media
The real reason this victory was feeling hollow is because he hasn’t made it public enough! If he's going to use Zim's emotional rock-bottom as a way to finally defeat him and condemn him into a life of painful experiments.... he wants to do it in front of a cheering crowd!
And while Zim’s scheme seems to have started once he first laid eyes on the Membracelet
Tumblr media
That plan couldn’t have worked without Dib’s own scheme to exploit Zim’s suicidal depression to get him in front as many people as possible so that Dib can get worldwide fame and Daddy’s approval and Zim can get... experimented on for the rest of his life.
Tumblr media
There was no kindness here to exploit, only a desperate desire for emotional validation.
The big mistake Dib did that allowed Zim the window of opportunity he needed to take over Membrane Labs was not doing the Kind Thing when he should’ve done the Practical Thing - and it was not doing the Cruel Thing when he should’ve done the Kind Thing. Dib had his chance to do the Practical Thing right there and then - kill or capture Zim while he’s not fighting back. He considered doing the Kind Thing (empathizing with Zim) and he decided to abandon both of them in favor of… the thing that will get him the most fame and attention.
And that’s the weakness of Dib that Zim exploited in his scheme. And that’s the thing that almost doomed planet Earth. Quite ironically, it’s literally a flaw Zim himself possesses quite strongly.
If Dib was willing to think purely in terms of what’s safest for Earth he would’ve taken out Zim right there and then and Earth would be safe forever - but for the sake of his own ego he took a risk that the planet almost paid very dearly for.
(And if he was willing to resist the temptation of fame and continue with the thread of empathy he showed Zim? Well, we can only speculate of what would've happened then...)
It’s not quite what I was talking about above; Dib would’ve probably gotten some of the fame and validation he wanted if he just stomped Zim’s head right there and dragged his corpse out - he just wanted as much attention as possible. And he didn’t knowingly help Zim or even seriously considered it as much as he was just tricked into a situation of Mutually Assured Bastardness. But I think it is the closest we’ve come so far, and I think it’s interesting.

Gabriel O'hara x Spider-Woman? They met while Gabriel was working on something for Miguel in HQ as she walked past the room and got curious. <3
JEKFKDKDKDKFK CUTEEEE @binibinileonara boutta get fed fr 🫂🫂🫂
(reblogs are greatly appreciated, it helps get my content out there! if you guys like what you see, please reblog it too <:D)
he's... everything. – gabriel o'hara x spider woman!fem!reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the clattering of tools and equipment in miguel's office, combined with cussing in spanglish and groaning with music playing in the background caught your attention; causing you to halt in your tracks and take a look inside. you peered inside miguel's office, knowing the voice that was muttering cuss words in spanish wasn't his—the voice was of a higher range than his. and when you entered the room, you sensed someone different, but similar, to miguel; a family member, you figured, was there.
"hello...?" you called out to the voice as you saw a couple of feet in boots underneath a control panel. the person who owned those feet halted fixing the underneath of the control panel and tried to sit up; though they banged their head on the control panel and cussed again in spanish. you watched as the pushed themselves from underneath the control panel and faced you with goggles on their face. it was a guy, he looked a lot like miguel from the face and hair color, he must've been a close relative of his. the man smiled up at you and lifted his goggles off his face, extending his hand towards you. "ah, i'm gabriel, gabriel o'hara. nice to meet you, um...?" he inquired you for your name as his voice trailed off, and you introduced yourself as spider woman—well, one of the many spider women.
his smile only grew wider as he heard you speak and felt you take his hand and shake it. he shook your hand a little longer than you expected, with him getting flustered about that prolonged contact. "hah, sorry—i, um, i get jittery and excited when around new people. especially pretty, capable new women i meet." he added with an awkward chuckle as you smiled at him. "no worries. so... whatcha working on here?" you asked gabriel as he sighed. "miggy lost his temper again and did a number on this control panel. i honestly don't get him, i've offered to buy him a stress ball, but he insists he's not stressed enough for it. yeah, no shit, he's beyond stress balls now and entering the realm of destroying expensive equipment to release his anger." gabriel said with a hint of fatigue in his voice as you listened to him.
you offered to help him fix up the control panel, or just keep him company so it doesn't feel too boring—which he accepted gratefully. you handed gabriel the tools he needed and helped him patch up some wiring from underneath the control panel with your webbing—it was strong enough, and it'd give miguel a harder time to total this thing again. all the while, you and gabriel chatted about all sorts of things, particularly shit-talking the ever grumpy overlord miguel. gabriel embarrassed miguel behind his back to you, telling you all sorts of funny stories about the two of them when they were younger, causing you to laugh all joyfully—laugh harder than you've ever had before, and in a genuine, real manner. gabriel, you noticed, was a darling.
he was sweet, though wouldn't take miguel's shit. he was kind, a little too kind that he forgets to take care of himself first; but what you really liked about him was how he knew how to be funny. every other guy you've met that was both nice and sweet like him always struggled to understand you, to really tickle your funny bone and open your heart up little by little, but not gabriel—gabriel was... everything you've ever wanted in a guy, and to believe he's related to miguel o'hara and you just met him today, why are your cheeks heating up when he's complimenting your voice and abilities?
when miguel came back, gabriel had soon finished up. he looked up at you a little too closely since you sat at a short distance from him—which... kinda made it look like gabriel was about to kiss you. miguel shouted at gabriel to look at him, and gabriel shouted back that he didn't wanna see miguel's ugly mug after fixing his mess. you giggled under your breath at their little exchanges, which gabriel heard and smiled slightly at, winking at you as he lifted his goggles up.
"gabri, get the hell down here once you're done." he told his brother as miguel looked up at you gazing at gabri involuntarily, with gabriel rolling his eyes, sighing, and reluctantly getting up to go back down from the platform. "before i go down, um... can i know if you, uh... wanna get some dinner together sometime?" gabriel asked with a smile as you nodded, smiling back at him with a flustered face. "of course, gabri." you responded to him as he felt himself get all flustered now at you copying miguel's nickname for him.
he chuckled and nodded with a broad smile on his face. "a-alright then! i'm gonna hope miggy's gonna break something else next time... so i can, y-y'know." gabriel said as miguel cleared his throat and furrowed his eyebrows, placing his hands on his hips as he waited for you two to descend. "okay, mig! jeez, i can attest to him wearing panties—they're always in a bunch up his su- ow!" gabriel cried out in pain as miguel threw a pen at the back of his head. you laughed aloud and asked him in between laughs if he was okay, with gabriel trying to play it cool and say he was okay with a wince. he really is everything—everything cute, cool, sweet, and... just a little bit of what a loser is like, a loser who's won himself a date with the prettiest, strongest spider woman around (and his favorite by far!)

It’s funny that “My G-G-G-Generation…G-Gap” touts an album of songs sung by Porky as being a monotonous, unbearable concept, yet I so so desperately wish there was a full cover of “Ride, Tenderfoot Ride” by Porky 😔 such is life
I. KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHAT A PERFECT ASK. I LOVE THIS ASK. I. MAN. i've had multiple conversations about how great Blanc's performance is in that particular scene because it is SO. GOOD. AUGH. MAN. YOU'VE GOT ME STARTED NOW. if you have not listened to Porky sing Ride, Tenderfoot Ride, please drop what you are doing and listen. animated by my hero John Carey
IT'S SO GOOD and often the sole reason as to why i ever return to A Coy Decoy. just to hear that song again. perfect balance of earnest, it's still got that ever present bumbling charm from Porky but is genuinely so well performed
his arrangement of "We're in the Money" from Porky's Prize Pony is another one i absolutely ADORE ISN'T IT SO CHARMING! also completely destroys the notion that "uh buhhhhhhhhh the stutter is annoying he couldn't sing" WRONG!!!! the stutter is totally irrelevant!! you don't even notice it over how attractive the song is
youtube
AND. COUNTERPOINT. there are a handful of instances from the originals where they DO entertain the idea of Porky reveling joyously in his oblivion regarding his singing abilities or lack thereof. this seemingly inconsequential topper he sings is one of my favorite deliveries to ever leave Mel Blanc's mouth because it's so EARNEST AND FUNNY but doesn't beat down on Porky either. copy and pasting from my review of this short because i cannot stress how ferociously i love this beat and this cartoon:
youtube
"It isn’t even a matter of his stutter getting in the way; listening closely reveals that he lags just a millisecond behind the chorus to begin with—a very purposeful decision—though the stutter certainly does help in strengthening the discord. Rather, the pure confidence and uninhibited joy that exude from both the character on screen and voice actor behind it completely tie the scene together. It is pure joy and pure oblivion—oblivion on Porky’s side, who shows absolutely zero indication of any sort of self awareness to his caterwauling.  To the credit of Clampett, Blanc, and Warren Foster, the almost anarchic joy in which Porky completely defies the expectations of the audience make him all the more charismatic and cute rather than something to sneer at. Refusing to allow a beat dedicated to an embarrassed follow-up or any semblance of self consciousness plays a major role in this—if Porky were to coyly blink at the audience or grow bashful, it would indicate something to be embarrassed about, a concession, a lack of conviction that indicates such antics should be laughed purely for the sake that they are disruptive and embarrassing, rather than a charming piece of insight into his character."
SO. YES. my frenzied ravings are proof that this bad cartoon made in 2004 that Bob Bergen wouldn't even work on because it sucked so much is WRONG and WE THE PEOPLE DEMAND MORE SINGING PIGS!!!!!!

I think there tends to be a perception that any work of fiction more than a few decades old is going to be riddled with cliches as well as full of horrifically outdated societal ideals. And I’m not going to say that’s completely incorrect, but it’s also not the case for many works either, including some of the most famous and formative ones.
For instance, let’s take fantasy.
The film “Willow” came out in 1988. It looks like it’s just going to be a straight Chosen One story. The evil queen is killing all the baby girls in the land looking for the one with the super special birthmark who is destined to defeat her, but the fated baby is smuggled away from her clutches just in time, and is found floating down a riverbank. I thought I was going to watch her grow up, discover her destiny and probably some special powers or swordfighting abilities she beats two-dimensional sexist boys with, and journey to heroically slay the queen in an epic showdown. But nope. She’s not named Willow, and she’s not the protagonist, and none of that happens.
The lead, Willow, is the father of the children who find her. They’re little people, and all played by actual little people. So right off the bat, we’ve got a disabled protagonist played by a disabled actor, and he encounters a lot of prejudice for it outside his village. He’s also unusual in that he’s a married father with kids, not some young attached swashbuckler/prince/pirate/etc. He very much WANTS to be a great sorcerer, but shows no actual magic talent. However, he is good at sleight of hand, such as his “diseappearing pig” trick. . . which ends up being his trump card at the climax with which he tricks the evil queen. But that’s just a distraction; the person who has a super badass magical fight with the evil queen isn’t him OR the baby, it’s an elderly sorceress he meets along the way who has beef with her. So the two absolute powerhouses of the movie who go head to head are two WOMEN, and not sexualized ones either. Granted, it’s hard to get more cliche than “evil sorceress queen” but her throwing down with the old crone was VERY unexpected for me! And the other lead female character is the queen’s badass daughter, a powerful fighter who begins on her side but sides with the heroes by the end.
But it’s not the old lady who defeats the queen either; she defeats herself when she tries to kill the baby, setting up a ritual to do so. When Willow tricks her into thinking he made the baby disappear and she moves towards him, she accidentally completes said ritual, causing it to destroy her as the target instead. At not one point in all of this did that baby ever show ANY magical powers or inclination of a special destiny; none of this would have happened if the queen hadn’t believed in this prophecy, for which there really was no proof, and acted accordingly. . . which is a piece of advice I’ve seen many a writer give for how to do the “Chosen One” trope well. And again, this movie was in 1988, predating all these writing blogs and advice channels. And what’s more, Willow doesn’t get real magic in the nick of time, there’s no Deus Ex Machina, he uses his own cleverness and the stage tricks he WORKED for. I really loved that. Again, it’s like something a modern writing blog would say they would totally love to see happen sometime!
The Last Unicorn film came out in 1982, but the novel was written in 1968. And yet, it averts a great many cliches about fantasy and gender in fantasy. The lead is female, and her motive has nothing to do with men. She has agency and takes action, and is very strong while not needing to make a big deal out of being “not like other girls” to do it (though she is definitely NOT like other girls, as she’s a unicorn in human form!) for this strength. We see her fend off a harpy, fight back against the Red Bull, and it’s mentioned she’s killed dragons before as well. Plus, she comes back in the sequel “Two Hearts” to finish off a griffin. Yet at no point is she an obnoxious edgy girlboss who shits on feminity; she’s in fact very feminine if she’s anything. And she does fall in love with a man, and this does have a big impact on her, but he’s not what her quest is about, and she in fact has to choose to give up being with him to complete that quest, and leaves him entirely at the end.
She also passes the Bechdel test; she talks with the witchy Mommy Fortuna who kidnaps her, trying to persuade her to free another female monster, the aforementioned harpy. And while she talk to her woman friend Molly about her love interest, their most iconic conversation is their first, and very feminist one, in which Molly angrily sobs demanding to know why the unicorn only came to her now, when she is no longer the innocent young maiden that unicorns are SUPPOSED to come to, but instead a haggard middle-aged woman who has been living with the leader of a bunch of bandits in the woods. Definitely not a demure virgin like the mythos say unicorns love. And yet, implicitly, the unicorn does not care.
And, of course, the unicorn saves herself at the end, and all the other unicorns in the world. It never presents itself as a feminist story, and I don’t think it was intended as such, but it sure qualifies in a number of categories.
For the final example, there’s The Lord of the Rings, written in the mid-50s. I actually haven’t read this series. But what I can comment on is something that was pointed out by someone on Tumblr (alas, I cannot remember the URL) that what so many of Tolkien’s imitators get wrong is they think that Aragorn is the protagonist, and make their Aragorn rip-off be so, but that actually the protagonist was Frodo, the literal little guy, the humblest of creatures, with no magic or fighting skills, and that this was the point. And I think that’s really interesting, that the father of modern fantasy and all its cliches, actually averted this cliche; it was only his many copycats that made it one.
These works were not, of course, perfect in other ways. There’s nary a scrap of POC or LGBT rep to be found in them that I know of. But they’re also far from cliche-storms in which every character is a cardboard cutout stock type and which every plot point is easily predicted either.
So, what is my point to this post?
It’s that older works are worth reading, or watching. Especially the genre-defining ones. These are some of the most famous, most far-reaching works of the fantasy genre in modern times, and that’s because they were GOOD. It’s not even about the box-checking aspect either; The Last Unicorn is heart-breakingly beautiful writing with a story and lines that make me more emotional than any other work ever has, book and film. Willow is a jolly good watch. The Lord of the Rings…ok, I’ll level with you, I just couldn’t get into it, that’s why I didn’t read it, but its significance to the fantasy genre is undeniable, and just because it wasn’t for me doesn’t mean it isn’t worth YOU giving it a shot. But so many people are just so sure that anything from before 2000 must be unoriginal, problematic garbage, and that’s reductive as well.
Besides the fact you’re missing out on things you might enjoy, reading within your genre is especially essential if you plan to WRITE in it, in my opinion. Whether this is fantasy, romance, sci-fi, horror, or something else, it is WORTH reading the masters. It is also worth familiarizing yourself with what’s ACTUALLY cliche, and what’s a DEAD UNICORN TROPE—I’ve read waaaay too many people who wrote what they clearly THOUGHT were very clever satires, but the things they were making fun of were never actually that prevalent in the genre to begin with, people just THOUGHT they were (ex: How many stories out there are there REALLY of princesses being rescued by dragons? Actually very few. But everyone lampshades it and references it and so on!) So it’s also worth reading what’s been done before if your plan is to parody, or satire, or deconstruct, or just do something new—that way, what you write will actually BE something new, instead of the eleven millionth author who thinks their protagonist is SO UNIQUE because they are a GIRL who FIGHTS omg!!
A lot of writers, both professional and aspiring, fear consuming work within their own genre, worried that they will be subconsciously influenced by it. They want their work to be wholly original, from their own imagination entirely. While I respect their choice, I also disagree that being inspired from other works is a bad thing. Inspiration doesn’t mean a direct copy. Indeed, I think people should in general stop stressing whether their work is a perfect unique snowflake untouched by any outside influence. All of us are influenced by something or other. And that’s fine. Every great work that you love was influenced by something else, consciously or subconsciously. Can you imagine if Neil Gaiman had decided NOT to write American Gods, and his own depictions of Odin and Loki, because he was a fan of Thor comics as a child (it’s what got him into actual Norse mythology!) and was worried that Jack Kirby’s version of the gods would influence his own? Ridiculous! Heck, I think it’s good to be inspired! To get ideas from other things! You just have to make them your own! And if there’s one thing that humans are goshdarn good at, it’s putting our own new spin on something we heard! That’s been how storytelling has worked since it begun!
And heck, why stop at reading the greats? Read the obscures and the flops! Read the worst shit in the genre! See what NOT to do, and think how you could do it better, and get the grain of a story from that! Get ideas from works in the genre that are forgotten or under-known! Use ideas from these that so many others have slept on, and expand them! For instance, look at the vampires of Paul Feval rather than Stoker or Le Fanu, for instance—if THEY had been the major media influences for Hollywood’s vampires, what would our modern depictions of these creatures be like? Use that as a jumping point for YOUR take on them!
Anyway, that’s all. I’m going to go watch The Dark Crystal now.

[Okay well this sucks.
But Joey is keeping up with Valon better than he expected to. Valon is a much more experienced rider in general, is used to riding that specific bike, and it's better designed for this kind of racing than the one Joey just happened to be able to "borrow." Around tight corners, dipping into alleys, riding up and down stairs, jumping across a waterway... Joey would make wider turns, slip a little further than he meant to, but he never lost sight of Valon for more than a second or two.
He also hasn't the faintest ever loving clue where the hell he is. But that doesn't seem to matter. Valon could very well be leading him into a trap, but... Joey's not so sure. He just has a gut feeling, just knowing it's going to be a lot more straight forward and not at all underhanded like that.
And he's right.
Valon leads the way into an empty lot. Secluded and isolated. It really would have been so easy to set this up to be some sort of ambush, but no; this is where they'll Duel.
Joey plays a little more defensively at first, hesitant and trying to ease into a feel for this stranger's fighting style. Valon goes all out, head on, facing straight into the fight. Were it anyone else, it would be dumb, but Valon's constructed his deck to suit this style. An all out offensive, the only defense being different ways to destroy the other monster in the process. He hides nothing, holds nothing back.
So Joey responds in kind.
They lay it all down; why they're fighting, what they believe in, why they believe it. Who they're fighting for, what matters to them, what drives them. Valon fights to win; victory is everything, the only thing. Joey remembers when he used to be like that. Before he befriended Yugi, and learned what it meant to fight for something. For someone. They use cards to pare away the excess, cards that conform to their bodies so they can fight even more personally. And it's... fun.
It's so much fun.
Their styles, their backgrounds, their abilities, they're different but they mesh so well. A competition that pushes one another to go further and further and be surprised about it, both at themselves and one another. When was the last time he had a fight with someone he could laugh with? Could fight while laughing?
But it hurts, too. Can't have one without the other. And with the Seal of Orichalcos, each hit to the Life Points also does real damage to their bodies. It sure didn't feel great to take a hit from a copied canon Hermos made; he almost didn't get back up. But still, it's exhilarating.
And then, Mai arrives. She can't stop them, angry as she is at Valon fighting Joey on her behalf. Only now, it isn't so much on her behalf anymore. The battle is too exciting, so uncertain, and getting so down to the wire. He genuinely doesn't know who is going to win now, and sees something in Joey and how he Duels that he and Mai lack. He understands now, he says, why she finds Joey so compelling. Joey has such a simple and direct passion for it.
They each strike again, playing their cards to their strengths. It's an explosive clash that strips them both of their armor, leaving them bruised and gasping. Their fight is rapidly coming to an end. They can't wait to see who will win. Mai watches on, sobered with the knowledge that one of them is about to lose their soul.
Rearmored, they strike again. Valon with his ace set of armor cards, Joey with Hermos boosting him once again. This strike is even more powerful than the last, Mai having to shield herself from the energy; yet still they each push harder and harder. Unfortunately for Valon, Joey is able to activate an ability. He sacrifices Red Eyes from his hand and is able to destroy all of Valon's armor monsters, and subtract their total attack from his life points. Ironic that the Seal is what dooms him; if it weren't in place, that little trick would have done zero damage. But his armor, boosted by the Orichalcos, now has 500 attack points each; more than enough to wipe him down to nothing.
It was a good fight. It's a bitter victory. Before the Seal closes, Valon says his goodbyes to Mai. He thanks Joey for the fight. He has no regrets. "And... Take care of her for me."
It hurts, to see him fall. It hurts, to see Mai run to him, cradle his empty shell of a body.
But neither of that holds a candle to how she clamps down, cuts off the sorrow, and blames Valon for doing this to himself. For being foolish. Blames Joey and accuses him of wanting to hurt Valon, wanting to kill him. He snaps back at her, but he can see she's not listening. She isn't going to. She's lying to herself about what she's really feeling, and the Orichalcos Stone is feeding into it.
There's only one thing she's going to listen to. One way she'll see his heart and have to bare hers. Just like Valon.
"Duel me, Mai."]

Just some Self aware au thoughts:
Before becoming self aware, one of the main reasons Volo said he wanted to meet arceus so badly was for arceus to justify why it had made the world such a cruel place. But in the real world Pokemon is considered one of the nicest game worlds out there. Imagine Volo's reaction if he ever asked MC the same question, and finds out about all the terrible things from real life that didn't get added into the games.
Or even if he gains the ability to see other games on your switch and (eventually) pc. If you ever played any sort of horror game, he'd be able to see what a cruel video game world truly looks like.
Its hard to see how good you have it until you get a chance to see how much worse it could have been.
YEAH FOR REAL THOUGH Imagine he sees you start a new game in Breath of the Wild. (Totally not me rn from the botw au *coughcough*) The world is so beautiful and colorful at first. It only fuels his belief at first at how he was denied of a better world, his own one being cold. Diluted. Cruel. The colors are beautiful, the wild life is peaceful. There's all sorts of sights to see.
But then he realizes. The 'main character' lost their memories. The world he lives in, is a shadow of what it was. Monsters, not even close to pokemon roam it, and nearly destroyed it, along with presumably tons of innocent people. The world Link lives in is alive, but only after it was ruthlessly destroyed first. Or you play the Devil May Cry trilogy on the switch. It's an even harsher blow than botw. A world were demon run rampant, killing for fun. Killing with ease. Presumably only a few people are even strong enough to hold them back. Or you play Dead by Daylight. His mouth goes dry and his stomach turns at the thought of such a cruel world. To be hunted again, and again, and again, for the rest of eternity, in some sort of eldritch monster's pocket reality. To be killed just to satisfy something's hunger. Never knowing who or what may kill you next. It's a harsh wake up call. His upbringing was a cruel one, yes, but he quickly realizes his experience is nothing compared to what another world's might be. He's very lucky. And the thought is sour in his mouth. He still resents Arceus. Even though his world and life is tame compared to many others, Arceus should still have the power to relieve that pain. But he doesn't take his good luck for granted anymore.

So, for the Tolkien asks, what about 7, 11, 12 and 18. I know the takes will be hot and correct. Also wishing all the best :D
7. If you could download a Tolkien language into your brain and speak it fluently, which one would you pick and why?
BLACK SPEECH >:] just because Sauron put a lot of effort in it and the Orcs were not appreciative of his efforts. and me likes a linguistic nerd.
Or Quenya because it is pretty and banned so I must speak it if only just to piss off Thingol
11. You can have four Tolkien characters over for dinner. Who do you choose and why?
oh my Eru...
Mairon, Pippin & Merry and Luthien ... to keep Mairon in check in case he feels like melting the dinner table. I'll have so much to talk with Mairon because I too am a sexy fire sign (who shares the same sense of humility...) and I hope he'd bring me gifts, I just want to see Pippin and Merry and they'll provide the singing and entertainment. Luthien I will have questions for her... and as I said, she's also here to yell Mairon into submission if he goes too Dark Lordish. There's a high chance Arda explodes that evening but it would have been totally worth it. Especially after Pippin mentions Gandalf is the best at fireworks and Mairon, a fire Maia, cannot let this happen.
12. Tolkien's work contains a lot of interesting themes: devastation of war, things lost that cannot be restored, rebirth/renewal, holding true to one's companions even when it is darkest, and others. Which is the most important to you?
The devastation of war and Things lost that cannot be restored, especially since we live in a society that is tainted by war culture (one of the reasons i dislike anything marvel related) I grew up places that are littered with ww2 scars, german blockhaus built in the mountainside that we drive by everytime i go up there to our place, on the beach near our summer house where i spent my childhood climbing and playing around because it's part of the landscape, this territory is so scarred with ww 1&2. It's natural to hate war but hollywood movies or games are overflowing with this.
Tolkien works are there to remind people that there is an absolute tragedy and horror in this and that scars remain forever, you look at what the Wars did to Arda in general, it's forever marred by Morgoth even after he is gone, entire continents sunk, the literal shape of the world was changed.
I know Tolkien hated for people to call his work an allegory of real life war but there is still a component to it. Almaren, The 2 Lamps, the 2 Trees, Gondolin, Doriath, Numenor etc…those things can never come back. Even paradise was defiled.
The fact that even after peace comes back, the lands are scarred forevermore and the only way to undo this is ...well the Changing of the World which is that legendary event that's supposed to happen in a distant future. Idk it's a theme that always spoke to me.
Fighting for peace but at what price...and to wrap this into a little moral ambiguity of a conclusion, I guess I can understand Sauron's wish for order and peace and watching people fight and fight and destroy again and again, even destruction coming from the gods that were supposed to care about Arda and going to the conclusion that enforcing peace by Dominion and removal of Free Will might be the only desperate answer to his plight. It's twisted and obviously corrupted by his time with Morgoth but if you had the opportunity to prevent so much carnage and loss by forcing people into a peaceful state, would you take it ? (that's a large debate and it'd one I love but I'm slightly morally grey so :) )
18. The magic of Middle Earth is barely ever explained. If you could gain just one of the barely-explained talents or magic abilities of a person in Arda, what ability would you choose? Would you hide it or use it openly IRL?
fire sign sagittarius = 100% would be a fire Maia. That or, shapeshifting is very practical for mischief >:] Also the ability to communicate telepathically is helpful on days you do not want to say words outloud. The question is asking only one ability but I'd cheat and say that if I choose to be a Maia then I get the whole package so here's my answer.
Plus, i'd befriend Ossë because I like him (every fire individual needs a water counterpart for balance), I'd also love to talk to Arien (i mean she's a literal sunshine...) and I'd be there to cause mischief in Valimar and probably drive Manwë and Námo crazy >:]

Can I request some God AU headcanons/imagines with the rest of Diasomnia squad plus Yuuken Enma, please?
Btw, I can totally Yuuken as a Demi-God type, or maybe as a Guardian Spirit.
Thanks
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
A demigod. Son of a man, he is not revered as a God or anything of the sort. Many people know of him. He has a messenger and an errand runner for the gods. You can guarantee that if any time the gods need help pay he will be there to lend a hand.
He wasn’t always so helpful though, he hates most of the gods other than the third generation. Thanks to Dire he’s on his way to becoming human again. He believes life is a gift and you should live and die one day. His demigod side he revers and hates, he was cursed by an unknown cause to be a half God.
All he wants to do is learn the sword and enjoy life, with his family and friends. He has in fact thought about taking a lover, a mortal one, but he is unable to be with them as a Demi-god, for Demi-god’s can’t been seen by humans.
Tumblr media
He is a first generation God, His spirit is the shadows that cover the night, and patron of vampires. Father of Silver and Master of Malleus. He’s also a mischievous one, playing pranks on humans which his students did not appreciate.
Never taken a lover
Mostly on the vampires worship him and the fae. He’s not an often thought out god and he doesn’t rely on it either. He is one of the two original gods.
He also descends into the large cavern called “Alta Spelunca” where those who wish to pray can be found. Since he turns vampires and assist Fae there.
His patron animals are hounds, bats, and leeches.
He dawns an eccentric out of style outfit. Short black hair and in different light his highlights can change color. He’s often depicted as a young boy despite coming into existence before the world existed, many don’t know of his existence.
Tumblr media
A good night and sleep, as you imagine he spends most of his time asleep. That’s not to say he enjoys it however he was given this responsibility is father. In order for his father to exist it is his duty.
Never taken a lover
He’s not usually worshiped for his god the abilities as he is his looks… he’s a young man with the silver white hair, with an ever changing aurora in his eyes. Some say you can see your deepest desires or dreams in them.
Seeing as he sleeps a lot his realm is the peoples dreams, he can control and manipulate dreams that well, as a sort of Sandman.
Many know of him but not many worship him, many merely ask for their dreams to come true. He may be a teller of fortune, but we can’t manipulate anything in the real world.
When he’s out in the mortal realm no one can see him, until he lays down to sleep where and then to manifest himself.
His patron animal is the white dove, and a white stag.
The only time he descends to the mortal realm, is where he is there to retrieve Malleus.
Tumblr media
Contrary to his personal thoughts on humanity, he is a protector of mankind. He is a third generation god.
He was assigned the task of protecting humanity by one of the original gods. He believed humans are foolish I could never rival of the gods. And that if they choose to destroy themselves and that is what they should do.
He like many other gods has not taken a lover, mortal or godly.
Seeing as the god of magic is sweet on humanity, (his idol) he tries his best to be kinder to humans.
He would never admit it but his blood is tainted by human blood, and he resents in, not enough to be a Demi-god, but enough to make his blood boil at the thought.
He’s very respectful to the gods, and envy’s them.
His patron animal is a bobcat, and a Crocodile symbolizing wisdom, and efficiency… And on the darker side the population controller of the human race. (Crocodiles are the main predator in there ecosystem)

ANRIEL - Yevlan (Thër)

- ABILITIES
When he was known as Thër, Yevlan had the power to travel through time and dimensions. He lost a part of this ability with his memory, but still is able to play with and alterate time.
The capacity he uses the most is a "protection bubble" in which he can place himself or others to protect them from time. It doesn't last long but helps injured people not to die because it stops the progression of the wounds. On the contrary, it was shown he also can slow down the process of healing so his enemies stay injured longer.
When Yevlan gets his memory and Thër's full might back, he becomes even more powerful and manages to reduce Theraël back to the ashes she comes from, nearly killing her.
- PERSONALITY
On the outside, Yevlan appears as a cheerful and sociable man. His childish and light personality makes him quite popular since he always has something funny or entertraining to say. He acts nice toward everyone in public and makes sure to bond with the most possible people.
He sometimes shows signs of immaturity and laziness, mostly caring about having a pleasant life : Yevlan easily gets distracted from his responsibilities by food, alcohol and fun.
In opposition to his agreeableness, he's actually a manipulative and vicious person who won't hesitate to hurt people or to destroy their lives to get what he wants. He doesn't care about anyone's feelings and always puts his ambitions and desires first. His hunger for power for example, drove him to seduce and marry Theraël, not because he loves her but to earn the title of King.
Despite his lack of empathy, Yevlan perfectly understands how people work and easily manages to gain their sympathy or rise them up against one another. He keeps his wife in total control, blowing hot and cold in their relationship, gaslighting her and making her feel guilty everytime she disagrees with him. He pretends to love her and acts in consequences, but threatened to leave her many times and even hurts himself when she refuses doing something for him.
Because he didn't marry Theraël out of love, Yevlan doesn't desire her and has sex with her just to control her body. He's been cheating on her for over 200 years, mostly with mortals since he's obsessed with them.
Indeed, Yevlan is paradoxically terrified with time and everything it involves. When he suddenly grew up and became an adult, he was upset to understand he was immortal and would never change again. Both the idea of endless routine and getting old scare him, thus he developed a fascination for everything that dies or is ephemere. It first caused him to be attracted to mortals, then he started abusing children, determined to "have fun with them before they grow up".
He ultimately raped his own son and granddaugher, beating them up and threatening them with death so they wouldn't talk.
Last, Yevlan develops an over-inflated ego through the story. When he discovers he's Thër, he feels superior to everyone and decides to take the throne by force and submit all the Gods to his orders and desires.
- BACKSTORY
Before he arrived on Altea, Yevlan used to be known as Thër, one of the first creatures ever and the soul mate Altea was waiting for. His love for them was reciprocate; in opposition to Altea who died of sadness because of this impossible love, Thër actively tried to join them. Travelling through dimensions and time for this purpose, he accidentally got lost in the future, in year 107, when Altea was dead and turned into a palace already. He was accepted there by Theraël and Klavia who gave him his new name and the duty to control time.
Yevlan brutally grew up and became an adult after Valryn and Acherus were born. He slowly corrupted himself and seduced Theraël to marry her and earn the title of King. In 206, he forced her to keep the children he got her pregnant with, becoming Nisis and Gweldas' father.
Strongly attracted to everything ephemere, Yevlan started cheating on his wife with mortals then built himself a harem using the excuse of teaching faith to the non-believers. Seeing his sons growing up too fast, he forced Theraël to give him another child, Azran, who was born in 282. In 494, he also had Cyllia with one of his mortal students.
After Yevlan raped his granddaughter Crépuscule, she gave birth to their son Imshâr and his crimes were finally discovered. He revealed his true nature and took the throne of Altea by force, ruling as a tyrant for over 30 years. He was defeated in 540, lost both his eyes and was forced to walk endlessely in a dark corridor without being able to find death or peace.
- PRIVATE LIFE
Yevlan is Theraël's husband and therefore the King of Altea. He had Nisis, Gweldas and Azran with her, but also Cyllia with a mortal woman and Imshâr with Crépuscule. It is said he also is the father of 56 unknown illegitimate children who live on Earth.
Yevlan is known to be a sex maniac and had countless lovers on Earth and in his classes, but also raped many people including some of his students.
He benefits from a high popularity on Altea and is appreciated by everyone except Klavia and Nisis.

RELATIONSHIPS
ALTEA
Being born as Thër, Yevlan has a strong bond with Altea and a whole-hearted love for them. They are the only person he sincerely loves : it probably is the reason why he wanted to take the throne and to become the only ruler.
Despite his visible indifference and lack of empathy for everyone, Yevlan felt heartbroken every time Altea was hurt (for example when Valryn destroyed half of it, accidentally creating Demios).
As a child, Yevlan showed his love and devotion by lying in Altea's ashes and kissing it.
THERAËL
Yevlan married Theraël to be crowned as a King and never loved or cared about her. In addition to cheating on his wife, he also sexually and mentally abuses her.
He will either give her a lot of affection and attention, especially in public, or on the contrary say and do hurtful things when they argue. Every time he harms her, Yevlan makes sure to apologize and promises her to change : his manipulation skills are usually effective and Theraël always comes back, except in the end after she discovers he raped Crépuscule – they fight and Yevlan almost kills her.
Through the years they spent together, he became able to make her dependant enough to control her entirely. Theraël will always do her best to please her husband, even if it ends up hurting her. Yevlan doesn't hesitate to hurt himself if Theraël doesn't obey him : he forced her to give birth to the sons she wanted to abort and to give him another child, threatening to kill himself otherwise. He portrays himself as a victim and guilt-trips or gaslights her when she blames him for the abuse he inflicts her.
Despite seeing her exhausted and mentally drained, Yevlan doesn't support his wife in his depression, blaming her for not being funny or entertraining enough. His laziness worsens her mental and physical condition because he's immature, unreliable, and puts all the load of his unfullfilled responsibilities on Klavia and her.
He also turns out to be jealous and possessive, to the point of murdering one of her lovers. He's afraid Theraël could leave him, not because he loves her but because he both wants to control her life and keep his title of King.
KLAVIA
Yevlan hates Klavia as much as she does : she's the only person he's disagreeable with. He had neutral feelings towards her until she created rules on Altea, because he didn't like the idea of his liberties being restrained.
Their relationship gradually worsened after he married Theraël : Yevlan noticed Klavia was aware of his toxic behavior and he saw her as a threat and an obstacle to his plans. From then on, he tried to split them up so Klavia would be dismissed from her job, but it was unsuccessful. Klavia herself tries to convince Theraël to take his title of king away from him, but it doesn't work either.
Yevlan is resentful of Klavia for insisting on him filling his responsibilities while he just wants to live a carefree life. He is unfuriated to hear about Theraël's affair with her and forbade her to sleep with her again.
After taking the throne, he imprisons Klavia and tortures her for his personal pleasure.
NISIS
Nisis is one of Yevlan's sons. When he was a child, they struggled to create a bond because Nisis saw him as too immature and irresponsible; yet he still had a deep respect and love for him.
Their relationship degraded during his teenage years : after Nisis accidentally discovered about his infidelity, Yevlan raped him for the first time. He threatend to assult his brother too if he talked about it and carried on with the abuse for 40 years. It stopped in 330 only because Yevlan saw Nisis as unattractive when he brutally grew up.
Nisis is completely traumatized by his father he now hates, despises and fears at the same time. He never hesitates to express it publicly and tries to let everybody know that he is a bad person.
Yevlan doesn't take him seriously because he knows Nisis will never reveal his secret and can't do anything against him. He still sees him as an helpless child he can control using fear and intimidation and has fun mentally tormenting him to show his domination.
Without laying a head on him again, he keeps destroying Nisis' life making him pass as mean when he insults him in front of the others. Nobody understands where this hate and aggressivity come from because Yevlan acts like a loving and sweet father who's treated rudely for no reason. It caused Nisis to lose some popularity, especially from his son who adores and admires Yevlan and doesn't understand why he may not hang out with him.
When he's alone with Nisis, Yevlan sometimes makes fun of him reminding him he doesn't stand a chance against him.
GWELDAS
Gweldas is Yevlan's second son whom he's very close to. Like most of his family, Gweldas isn't aware of his crimes and only sees him as the agreeable man he pretends to be.
Yevlan has no difficulty manipulating him and knows he has his unreserved love. They share common traits such as sociability, immaturity and a penchant for fun : they often played together during Gweldas' childhood and created a strong bond.
Yet, Yevlan despises his son for his stupidity and only sees him as a cog in his machine he can easily manipulate and keep by his side.
When he takes power on Altea, he tries to make Gweldas his ally, convinced he will join and obey him. Despite still loving him, Gweldas strongly disapproves of his actions and refuses, finally rebelling against him beside the others.
AZRAN
Azran is Yevlan's third child. He was the one who insisted for them to be born and who raised them since Theraël was unable to do so.
Yevlan acted like a perfect father with them and easily earned his love and respect since he gave them the affection and attention their mother refused to show them. Azran therefore became emotionally dependant of him and trusted him under any circumstances.
In order to keep control on them, Yevlan managed to isolate Azran and rise them up against their own brothers, convincing them they hated and despised them. He is one of the responsible parties of their corruption arc.
Eventhough he told Azran he was the only person who loved him and he would always stand with them, Yevlan didn't hesitate to give them up when they were bannished in order to maintain his reputation and because he despised them for commiting crimes indiscreetly.
During the tyranny, Azran still chose his side and accepted to become one of his bodyguards and his personal torturer.
CYLLIA
Cyllia is the illegitimate daughter Yevlan had with one of his mortal students, Aram, and the only one whose Theraël discovered the existence. He was then forced to keep her and she was accepted on Altea.
Yevlan hates Cyllia because he considers she threatened his marriage by her simple existence. Therefore, he wants to get rid of her and would do anything to see her dead.
He acts nice and caring with her but secretly seizes every opportunity to endager her, using her love and trust to be obeyed and put her in risky situations.

Henry Kissinger, War Criminal—Still at Large at 100
We now know a great deal about the crimes he committed while in office, from helping Nixon derail the Paris Peace Talks and prolong the Vietnam War to green-lighting the invasion of Cambodia and Pinochet’s coup in Chile. But we know little about his four decades with Kissinger Associates.

Henry Kissinger should have gone down with the rest of them: Haldeman, Ehrlichman, Mitchell, Dean, and Nixon. His fingerprints were all over Watergate. Yet he survived—largely by playing the press.
Until 1968, Kissinger had been a Nelson Rockefeller Republican—though he also served as an adviser to the State Department in the Johnson administration. Kissinger was stunned by Richard Nixon’s defeat of Rockefeller in the primaries, according to the journalists Marvin and Bernard Kalb. “He wept,” they wrote. Kissinger believed Nixon was “the most dangerous, of all the men running, to have as President.”
It wasn’t long, though, before Kissinger had opened a back channel to Nixon’s people, offering to use his contacts in the Johnson White House to leak information about the peace talks with North Vietnam. Still a Harvard professor, he dealt directly with Nixon’s foreign policy adviser, Richard V. Allen, who in an interview given to the Miller Center at the University of Virginia said that Kissinger, “on his own,” offered to pass along information he had received from an aide attending the peace talks. Allen described Kissinger as acting very cloak-and-dagger, calling him from pay phones and speaking in German to report on what had happened during the talks.
At the end of October, Kissinger told the Nixon campaign, “They’re breaking out the champagne in Paris.” Hours later, President Johnson suspended the bombing. A peace deal might have pushed Hubert Humphrey, who was closing in on Nixon in the polls, over the top. Nixon’s people acted quickly; they urged the South Vietnamese to derail the talks.
Through wiretaps and intercepts, President Johnson learned that Nixon’s campaign was telling the South Vietnamese “to hold on until after the election.” If the White House had gone public with this information, the outrage might also have swung the election to Humphrey. But Johnson hesitated. “This is treason,” he said, as quoted in Ken Hughes’s excellent Chasing Shadows: The Nixon Tapes, the Chennault Affair, and the Origins of Watergate. “It would rock the world.”
Johnson stayed silent. Nixon won. The war went on.
Kissinger, who’d been appointed national security adviser, advised Nixon to order the bombing of Cambodia to pressure Hanoi to return to the negotiating table. Nixon and Kissinger were desperate to resume the talks that they had helped sabotage, and their desperation manifested itself in ferocity. “‘Savage’ was a word that was used again and again” in discussing what needed to be done in Southeast Asia, recalled one of Kissinger’s aides. Bombing Cambodia (a country the US wasn’t at war with), which would eventually break the country and lead to the rise of the Khmer Rouge, was illegal. So it had to be done in secret. The pressure to keep it secret spread paranoia within the administration, leading Kissinger and Nixon to ask J. Edgar Hoover to tap the phones of administration officials. Daniel Ellsberg’s Pentagon Papers leak sent Kissinger into a panic. He was afraid that since Ellsberg had access to the papers, he might also know what Kissinger was doing in Cambodia.
On Monday, June 14, 1971—the day after The New York Times published its first story on the Pentagon Papers—Kissinger exploded, shouting, “This will totally destroy American credibility forever…. It will destroy our ability to conduct foreign policy in confidence…. No foreign government will ever trust us again.”
“Without Henry’s stimulus,” John Ehrlichman wrote in his memoir, Witness to Power, “the president and the rest of us might have concluded that the papers were Lyndon Johnson’s problem, not ours.” Kissinger “fanned Richard Nixon’s flame white hot.”
Why? Kissinger had just begun negotiations with China to reestablish relations and was afraid the scandal might sabotage those talks.
Keying his performance to stir up Nixon’s resentments, he depicted Ellsberg as smart, subversive, promiscuous, perverse—and privileged: “He’s now married a very rich girl,” Kissinger told Nixon.
“They started cranking each other up,” Bob Haldeman remembered (as quoted in Walter Isaacson’s biography of Kissinger), “until they both were in a frenzy.”
Tumblr media
Escape Artist: Though Watergate was as much his doing as Nixon’s, Kissinger emerged unscathed thanks to his admirers in the media. Michel Lipchitz/AP
If Ellsberg gets away unscathed, Kissinger told Nixon, “it shows you’re a weakling, Mr. President,” prompting Nixon to establish the Plumbers—the clandestine unit that conducted buggings and burglaries, including at the Democratic National Committee headquarters at the Watergate Complex.
Seymour Hersh, Bob Woodward, and Carl Bernstein all filed stories fingering Kissinger for the first round of illegal wiretaps—set up by the White House in the spring of 1969 to keep his Cambodia bombing secret.
Landing in Austria en route to the Middle East in June 1974 and finding out that the press had run more unflattering stories and editorials about him, Kissinger held an impromptu press conference and threatened to resign. It was by all accounts a bravura turn. “When the record is written,” he said, seemingly on the verge of tears, “one may remember that perhaps some lives were saved and perhaps some mothers can rest more at ease, but I leave that to history. What I will not leave to history is a discussion of my public honor.”
The gambit worked. He “seemed totally authentic,” New York magazine gushed. As if recoiling from their own sudden doggedness in exposing Nixon’s crimes, reporters and news anchors rallied around Kissinger. While the rest of the White House was revealed as a bunch of two-bit thugs, Kissinger remained someone America could believe in. “We were half-convinced that nothing was beyond the capacity of this remarkable man,” ABC News’ Ted Koppel said in a 1974 documentary, describing Kissinger as “the most admired man in America.” He was, Koppel added, “the best thing we’ve got going for us.”
We now know much more about Kissinger’s other crimes, the immense suffering he caused during his years in public office. He green-lighted coups and enabled genocides. He told dictators to get their killing and torturing done quickly, sold out the Kurds, and ran the botched operation to kidnap Chilean Gen. René Schneider (in the hope of derailing President Salvador Allende’s inauguration), which resulted in Schneider’s murder. His post-Vietnam turn to the Middle East left that region in chaos, setting the stage for crises that continue to afflict humanity.
We know little, though, about what came later, during his four decades of work with Kissinger Associates. The firm’s “client list” has been one of the most sought-after documents in Washington since at least 1989, when Senator Jesse Helms unsuccessfully demanded to see it before he would consider confirming Lawrence Eagleburger (a Kissinger protégé and an employee of Kissinger Associates) as deputy secretary of state. Later, Kissinger quit as chair of the 9/11 Commission rather than hand over the list for public review.
Kissinger Associates was an early player in the wave of privatizations that took place after the end of the Cold War—in the former Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, and Latin America—helping to create a new international oligarchic class. Kissinger had used the contacts he made as a public official to found one of the most lucrative firms in the world. Then, having escaped the taint of Watergate, he used his reputation as a foreign policy sage to influence public debate—to the benefit, we can assume, of his clients. Kissinger was an eager advocate of both Gulf Wars, and he worked closely with President Clinton to push NAFTA through Congress.
The firm also made book on policies put into place by Kissinger. In 1975, as secretary of state, Kissinger helped Union Carbide set up its chemical plant in Bhopal—working with the Indian government and securing funds from the United States. After the plant’s 1984 chemical leak disaster, Kissinger Associates represented Union Carbide, brokering a paltry out-of-court settlement for the victims of the leak, which caused nearly 4,000 immediate deaths and exposed another half-million people to toxic gases.
A few years ago, much fanfare attended Kissinger’s donation of his public papers to Yale. But we’ll never know most of what his firm has been up to in Russia, China, India, the Middle East, and elsewhere. He’ll take those secrets with him when he goes.

Eren Jaeger’s Final Words
So there are many people unimpressed with the final statement given by Eren’s character, either finding it inconsistent with the build up to this point, or too ambiguous a motivation for trampling all over the world. I’m not really here to talk about the quality of the story, whether it was good or bad, because I don’t really care. However, I think it’s fascinating what the text is trying to say about Eren’s character and his motivation.
This is why, “I don’t know, shrug” is both an answer and not an answer to why Eren did what he did in the end. For making my point in this analysis, I’ll be talking about Eren’s character from Marley on showing both the Eren that appeared before Reiner, the one that talked to Zeke, and finally the one Armin saw are all the same person.
1. And Now for Something Completely Different
Before I even begin though, let’s talk about something entirely different. My favorite episode of Doctor Who is from the 4th Doctor Era, entitled “Genesis of the Daleks” first broadcast around 1975. What makes this episode my favorite episode is both the premise, and the question it asks. If you haven’t watched Doctor Who the basic premise is the main character is a time traveler who can go everywhere and everywhen in the universe. One of his common enemies is the Daleks, a race whose goal is to kill everything else in the universe. The Time Lords order the Doctor to go back in time to the era the daleks were created, and prevent their creation in order to prevent every person they would eventually kill.
He goes do the Dalek homeworld, and meets the scientist who created them Davros. Eventually, the doctor fails enough that he’s not able to prevent their creation, but he could, wipe them out when they were just newly born children and completely innocent. The doctor decides not to kill them right then because that would be a pre-emptive genocide, and the Doctor is a pacifist. When Davros witnesses him making this choice it prompts this conversation one of my favorite in all of television. The link to the clip is here if you’re interested. [Source.]
Davros: "Now, future errors will be come victories. You have changed the future of the universe, Doctor." Doctor: "I have betrayed the future. Davros, for the last time, consider what you're doing. Stop the development of the Daleks." Davros: "Impossible. It is beyond my control. The workshops are already fully automated to produce the Dalek machines." Doctor: "It's not the machines, it's the minds of the creatures inside them. Minds that you created. They are totally evil." Davros: "Evil? No. No, I will not accept that. They are conditioned simply to survive. They can survive by becoming the dominant species. When all other life forms are suppressed, when the Daleks are the supreme rules of the universe, then you will have peace. Wars will end. They are the power not of evil, but of good." Doctor:"Davros, if you had created a virus in your laboratory, something contagious and infectious that killed on contact, a virus that would destroy all other forms of life, would you allow its use?" Davros: "It is an interesting conjecture." Doctor: "Would you do it?" Davros: "The only living thing, a microscopic organism reigning supreme... A fascinating idea. Doctor: "But, would you do it?" Davros: "Yes... yes..." [ Davros raises a hand as if holding the metaphorical capsule.]
Davros: "To hold in my hand a capsule that contains such power, to know that life and death on such a scale was my choice. To know that the tiny pressure of my thumb, enough to break the glass, would end everything... Yes, I would do it! That power would set me above the gods!
Davros’ motivations seem at first brush look one-note and evil, just another mad scientist playing god. However, what makes the conversation great is the context it takes place in. Here is the choice offered to the doctor, kill a race that he knows will go on to make war and kill innocents in the future in their infancy before they have done anything wrong, or don’t kill them and ensure the future you know will happen.
The Doctor isn’t saying that his choice is the right one. He’s not saying he’s doing good by choosing not to slaughter an innocent race. He’s saying, he can’t bring himself to make that choice. In that situation he chooses not to choose, because it would be against his pacifist believes to choose either way. Which Davros at first, takes to mean the Doctor siding with him. However, when they begin to debate it, notice how they’re not talking about what is the philosophically correct choice to do. The doctor hammers in this point, would you do it? Would you do it? After getting Davros to admit that yes, he would do it, his motivation becomes much clearer, he doesn’t actually care whether his actions result in a good thing or a bad thing, he simply wanted to be the one who got to choose.
What does Davros want? The power that surpasses a normal human being’s ability to choose. Davros himself is basically written to be pure evil, but his desire itself is a little more complex. Davros is a person lacking in agency, if you tear him away from his support system he’ll die within thirty seconds. He designs what he believes is the perfect race capable of conqueringthe universe which are reflections of him. They’re soft little squid creatures in mechanical shells which are inpenetrable. Davros himself cannot seize that power, he is inferior because he’s attached to the life support system (in his own mind), so the power he wants instead is the power to make the choice to unleash them upon the world.
If the Doctor by failing to make that impossible choice in the situation, by not wanting to even hold the capsule in his hands and have that ability to choose remains a man, then Davros chooses to throw away his humanity (which he ties to his inferiority and weakness) and becomes a god instead. To tie my long tangent which just shows how much of a geek I am back to Eren, Eren’s choice wasn’t actually about bringing a good result or a bad one at all. He simply wanted to choose. People who are lacking for agency, who feel powerless and inferior to tend to grasp for it. They try to fix external circumstances instead of internally facing what is within them, because they can’t bear to face it (hence the complex about being inferior in the first place).
People often compare Kaneki from Tokyo Ghoul to Eren because their stated motivation bears some resemblance “we were doing this all to protect our friends”, however, it’s important to grasp that Kaneki and Eren are liars and unreliable narrators both. Their stated motivation isn’t necessarily true. I don’t think the final chapter is as clear as it could have been in nailing down the finer points of this, but Eren does in fact change his stated motivation from “I was doing it all to set up you as heroes of the world” to “I would have done it anyway even if you didn’t come to stop me” to “I don’t know. I just wanted to.” So, the fact that Eren will directly lie about his motivation and try to rationalize his actions and even switch stories in the space of one conversation is at least established.
So to bring the comparison back to Kaneki, both Eren and Kaneki lie about their external motivations that they are doing this for their friends when really they act because of unacknowledged internal motivators. They are secretly selfish, while presenting their actions as some kind of great sacrifice they’re making for the sake of others. The deepest we ever dig into Kaneki’s head he makes this statement.
Tumblr media
I’m going to do something that will make everyone love me. Good, bad, it could be anything. After that, I wanna die heroically!
Eren and Kaneki aren’t the same because they’re brave people who fight for their friends, it’s because internally they’re pathetic and unlovable. They’re so starved for agency and attention that they’ll do anything for it, and they just don’t care about the consequences for their actions. Kaneki also, later on in the manga engages in mass slaughter for once again what is a pretty bad reason. It’s not to protect someone or for the sake of someone else. It’s because he’s lonely and wants comfort.
Tumblr media
Kaneki doesn’t care about what he’s doing or the consequences of his actions, he’s desperate and wants to do what will immediately gratify him in the moment. He doesn’t even realize what he’s doing will unleash mass slaughter and have greater consequences because he’s not thinking about that.
Compare this to the doctor’s choice. The doctor knows the direct result of his actions, if he does not abort the daleks he will fail to prevent the deaths of innocent people. Knowing those consequences he says he still won’t make the choice because he believes his pacifist principles are something he won’t bend on. Kaneki, and Eren both have on principles, or no reasons. They just do whatever in the moment, and make up a reason after the fact. For Touka, For his friends, because he wanted to, because of freedom, because why not?
Kaneki and Eren can construct no good reason for their actions, and no principles behind their actions, because unlike the doctor, they don’t have a developed enough and they’re not capable of making measured choices. They steal away agency because they’ve been deprived of it, they want the feeling of power and control that comes with making the choice, but they don’t want the responsibility for it. The doctor knows if he doesn’t choose to wipe out the Daleks he’s responsible for that choice, but can’t bring himself to kill. His actions are pacifistic. However, Eren and Kaneki choose to kill in the same situation, and their actions inevitably cause the conflict to accelerate. The Doctor remains a man, Kaneki and Eren do not.
What kind of person would want to become a god anyway?
A person pathetically, incapable of feeling alright as a human being.
That’s why Kaneki and Eren make the choice to become monsters, because they’re incapable of living with themselves, or their actions as people. Either way they can’t live with it, hence why, Kaneki’s stated motivation is I’ll make everyone love me and then I’ll just die. Hence why the person who is making this statment is a childish version of him.
There is no good reason for what Eren does. That sounds like a cop-out answer after making you read all this long, but what is a good reason for killing people? This is a lot of rambling but I hope I’ve at least established that Eren’s internal reasonings make no sense, his internal mechanisms at least do. The reason he doesn’t come up with a reason is because he didn’t actually care about the result of his actions, he just wanted to be in the position to choose. He wanted absolute agency because he was denied agency like a child, and as a forever stunted child, he never grew up to realize that most people in the whole world eventually make compromises and live on with sadness instead of getting to do whatever they want.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Words that Eren was told again and again but failed to listen to. He’s not the only person that suffers in the world. He’s not the only person that’s lost people. He’s not the all-suffering protagonist of reality, he’s just one personin the greater scheme of things. However, the ability to compromise like that. To realize that other people exist besides you, that they have feelings separate from yours, that you are not the protagonist of reality is what an adult does, and what Eren can’t do. It’s easier to become god apparently, throw his whole life away as a child soldier making the ultimate sacrifice then just try growing up.
What’s the point of writing a character with such a pathetic motivvation? It’s because it’s human.
To badly misquote Jung, most people assume they are nice people when really they are in fact jerks. The reasons can be very complex, but sometimes it’s just as simple as not being able to look past your own ego and understand people feel differently than you do. Eren cannot accept other people, whether they be his friends, the comrades he’s fought with this entire time, the adults trying to guide him, he is just so incapable of accepting them that he regresses into a child making selfish demands of the world. It seems inhuman but imagine Eren in a completely different setting. What if Eren were just a shut-in? Just a teenager who didn’t leave his room. A fundamental ability to accept other people would sabotage all his other attempts to grow up and leave his room, and he’d choose to remain a child forever. The stakes are different, the situation is different, but the internal mechanisms are unmistakably human.
2. All Erens is the Same
Okay, here’s where I actually try to prove that Eren’s character arc is consistent with the story. What was revealed in 139 at all wasn’t a 180, and wasn’t a reveal that secretly Eren had good intentions all along. He never had good motivations, or selfless one. From beginning to end he was a selfish child, and his reasoning was always that of a stunted individual unable to understand the feelings of others but placing his own feelings as far more important.
What Eren does in 139 is rationalizing and changing his answer, which he has done several times before that point anyway, and is therefore consistent with his behavior up until that point. It’s important to acknowledge that Eren models himself, not after Grisha, but rather Eren Kruger. The foil to Grisha and the reaction to Grisha’s bad parenting is Zeke. The person who Eren makes similiar choices to is Kruger says the reason he picked Grisha is the eyes he possessed in childhood.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The thing about Kruger is, textually, Kruger fucking sucks. He says it himself. He claims he was doing it for the sake of helping others, and yet, all he ever felt like he was doing, was torturing people, and throwing them to the dogs. He kept saying he had good motivations, but his actions were repeated brutal violence, over and over again. He contributed more to the conflict than he helped to resolve it.
Tumblr media
At the end of his life, Kruger says once again he doesn’t believe what he’s done has changed anything, and doesn’t believe he himself hs changed. He’s still the child with hatred in his eyes. His reason for passing it onto Grisha is because he knew Grisha wouldn’t grow up either, and would keep that inside of him. Kruger failed to grow, Grisha failed to grow, in a way that mattered, in time to make an actual change. They only ever made things worse, and that is, the model we are supposed to parallel Eren to.
Tumblr media
Now this is at the same time that the Attack Titan’s future vision powers are shown to us. The question a lot of people are asking is if Eren had free will in his choice, or he was fated to make that choce all along. The answer is. No. Nope. Nope. Nope. Not at all. The fact that Eren was destined to do it, is yet another excuse, the like seventh change of motivation that Eren gives us. “I saw it happen in the future so I did everything I could to make it happen, but I didn’t think I had a choice this was the only way to make you guys hero,” Eren says, and then five seconds later. “I didn’t know what would happen , I probably  would have done it anyway even if I knew you guys were all going to die and fail to stop me.”
Eren is once again making excuses, and avoiding all kinds of responsibility. If he is the chosen one, if his actions are controlled by fate, if he’s a god, if he’s a devil, he is not human and therefore he is not responsible. Eren wants the power to decide the fate for the world, but will do anything but accept responsibility for that choice. Eren wants to be Eren the bloody conqueror, but he’s not even self-aware enough to see himself as a bad person he can’t even own that so when confronted on his actions he reduces himself back to a child, and evades responsibility. Eren’s own motivation, his stated motivation is for no reason, however, the reasons he avoids the guilt like this are complex in their mechanisms as I wrote about above. The simple question is if Eren saw this future why did he not try to stop it? The simple answer is because he did not want to.
Tumblr media
There are a million and one excuses Eren has for why he thought the future could be avoided, but his actions tell a different story. He didn’t lift a finger to try. He spent the next four years making rationalizations for what he eventually would do. I will now establish, Eren was actually given several oppurtunities to stop, and then he just did not stop.
In the Reiner and Eren scene while Tybur is speaking in the background, Eren is offered a choice. Quite literally, Tybur is narrating the same story that Eren wants to set up. Become the devil that tried to destroy the world, so the heroes (his friends) will defeat him. He’s given the chance to be genuine and talk things out with Reiner and what does he choose.
Tumblr media
He chooses to accelerate. He could have stopped. Remember how Reiner was practically begging him to talk things out? Not only that but Eren sees that Reiner’s stated motivations for doing what he did were, completely fake, just rationalizations made up in the moment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eren is presented with the reality of who he really is, a child who hates himself, who wants to kill himself rather than take responsibility for his actions, and he chooses the narrative Tybur offers him. Rather than be hismelf, stop the story here, he chooses to move the story forward. And the conflict accelerates when they could have reconciled. Not because there was no other choice, Reiner was begging, crying, and holding Eren’s hand at the same time asking for peace and forgiveness but because Eren chose to accelerate the conflict.
Tumblr media
Eren’s choices are always that of an accelerationist. When given the oppurtunity to stop, he chooses instead, to always make the conflict worse. That is, the result of Eren’s myriad of choices made throughout the arc. Everything is worse now, and more people are dead. Nothing good is achieved through these means because Eren wasn’t trying for good. Eren didn’t care about good results, he just wanted to be doing something. Easier to be an all powerful demon, than a powerless child which is what he sees Reiner as in the moment.
The only time I believe that Eren was putting on an act was when speaking with Mikasa and Armin. The rest of it wasn’t acts, it was just who Eren is, who he sees himself to be. The thing is most people don’t read Eren’s kind of behavior, constant masculine posturing, war mongering, accelerating the conflict, throwing himself into fighting, as childish and toxic when it is. The point of Eren’s masculinity is it’s a performance. Reiner crying and begging in front of Eren is embarrassing and pathetic yes, but it’s also how he felt in that moment, it’s a human vulnerability. Whereas, Eren’s outer persona is entirely empty of love and vulernability, of every emotion besides anger, and violence. However, because it’s empty, he just acts, empty... Great wording there I know. Eren when posturing in front of others basically has no personality. He is just guy who fights.
Eren performs the role of a ruthless soldier in front of others, because it prevents him from being vulnerable. Remember who Eren is posturing in front of, Reiner, and then later Zeke. What were they doing? They were both at the moment trying to appeal to his human side, Reiner by crying and begging for forgiveness a show of vulnerability, and Zeke by tryig to show Eren what their father did to them was wrong.
Tumblr media
Calls for violence, posturing, warmongering and rhetoric, Eren’s every response when Zeke tries to examine his humanity. Eren insists over and over again, you see I’m not actually a human being. It was impossible for father to reach me because I was simply born that way. However, the kind of person Eren pretends to be is empty, someone incapable of feeling anything. The only way he knows how to be strong, is to simply not have feelings, to deny all human emotion and become something else and that’s just lame. We also know, that Eren himself is not like that because he contradicts his stated motivation that the only reason he killed those slavers was for the concept of freedom itself when he takes too long trying to look at Mikasa.
Tumblr media
Eren denies himself empathy, he denies himself udnerstanding, and therefore no one will ever see his emotional wounds. That way, he can be invulenerable forever, but at the same time he denies MIkasa and Armin.
Tumblr media
We return again to the motif of the story. It’s the same repeated image, someone tells Eren to stop, Eren says that it must not stop, the story must continue.
Tumblr media
Both of Eren’s foils and family members,Zeke and Grisha  tell Eren to stop this. That they do not want this. The whole world yells at Eren to stop, and he does not stop. Stopping would mean, accepting some measure of helplessness so Eren does not stop.
Tumblr media
To be honest, what Eren says in 131 is far more telling than literally any of the excuses he came up with in 139 which is why I think it should be interpreted not as the final word on Eren’s character but rather, showing what his waffling actually looks like to an outside observer - not heroic at all but rather pathetic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eren’s childish desire to be this powerful, to stand up above everyone like a god while ignoring the suffering of the world around him - is pretty telling enough of Eren’s true motivations that he needs no further elaboration. Eren does not become god for the sake of his friends, he does not do it because he thinks it will make the world a better place, he does it because of childish delusions of grandeur and his inability to let go of his childish feelings of entitlement. The world isn’t the way he wants it to be and he can’t comrpomise with that in any way. Eren is more like a caricature of the most petty person on earth when you put it that way, but this is... a fictional story. Thematically Eren is a good example why ideals are ideals, and people are in fact, people, ulitmately very disappointing and falling short of those idealse. So once again moving past this.
Tumblr media
Eren, you can literally just stop. Eren is basically given every choice in the world to stop, everyone else in the story tells him to, and he just doesn’t. The author does go to a painstaking extent to show that Eren in fact could have stopped. Every single time he is given the oppurtunity to stop he instead chooses to accelerate the conflict.
It is interesting to show the one time Eren actually did stop though. It wasn’t for Mikasa, it was Mikasa’s decision.
Tumblr media
When Eren puts the decision on someone else, he can stop. Eren has feelings for Mikasa, but rather than confessing to her he makes her speak up about what her feelings are, even when everyone around him just, straight up tells him.
Why is he capable of stopping when it’s someone else’s choice? In those cases, Eren succesfully avoids responsibility. When he makes the decision to run away in the possible alternate reality he’s doing what Mikasa wanted.
The other time is when he decides to accept the result of whatever Mikasa decides. In both cases, Eren rather than accept responsibility for his actions and the results of his actions, just, puts it all on Mikasa.
Tumblr media
Is he doing this for Mikasa’s sake? To set Mikasa up as the hero of the world? No, he can’t even face Mikasa and explain himself or his feelings. Eren makes the choices to... put the ultimate decision on Mikasa, and run away without explaining himself because, that’s easier than taking repsonsibility for his choices. Every choice Eren makes, is to either make the conflict worse, because stirring the pot makes him feel powerful and in control, or throw control away to someonee else or some other reason (predestination whatnot) because he can’t bear the responsibility of what he’s doing. He wants to kill a bunch of people, but like... he doesn’t want to feel like a bad person about it (hence the excuse, he was doing it for his friends and yet later in the same conversation him saying that if he had killed his friends and they failed he still would have done it anyway).
Tumblr media
Therein lies the rub. Eren is not doing this for his friends, because he takes the one path that is guaranteed to take him out of their lives. He doesn’t do it for Mikasa because he does the one thing guaranteed to destroy her.
I love this girl so much, that I created this elaborate scenario where the only way she could save the world was to horribly behead me, the one family member left from her childhood after she spent her entire life trying to protect me from fear of losing her family - yeah that sounds completely insane.
It is meant to be. Eren is thinking jack all about what his friends are feeling. His feelings for Mikasa, his desire to keep her safe and away from everything else trump everything even the idea that his love might be returned. He loves at Mikasa. He’s not in love with her, he’s projecting his love upon her. “Why didn’t he just tell her about his feelings if he secretly loved her all this time?” the point was, he couldn’t. Eren’s ego isn’t developed enough to love another person, that requires actually caring about their feelings which Eren doesn’t do to well.
There’s a reason Eren and Mikasa’s connection keeps lingering back to the small kindness they showed each other as childhood,it’s because literally despite spending their entire lives growing up together, their connection hasn’t grown at all since then, because they can’t grown.
At the end of the series however, Mikasa makes the opposite coice of Eren. If Eren’s choice has been to remain a selfish child all this time, to make other people suffer rather than face his own hurt feelings. Mikasa makes the choice of selflessness, to grow up, beyond the child who loved Eren into the adult who knows that even if you love people, one day you might lose them.
Eren’s choices only ever make the conflict worse. Mikasa’s choice finally stopped the conflict that Eren kept accelerating. It didn’t save the world, it saved the world from Eren.
Tumblr media
I think it’s important to remember that Eren didn’t see what MIkasa was going to do, that her actions were going to end up breaking the curse. He literally had no idea what was going to happena fter the massacre, all he saw was the massacre and decided to do what he could to bring it about.
“I did all of this for you guy.”
Tumblr media
Backtracking, five seconds later, and making excuses it all would have happened anyway.
Tumblr media
It’s the same behavior consistently shown throughout. Eren could have stopped. Eren did not stop. Afterwards, Eren wants to reconcile the guilt and believe that his motives were good, when his actions were the actions of a bad person. It’s the same as Reiner’s crying and begging after years of guilt and failure to reconcile his acitons with who he is. Eren can’t understand why he did what he did, he just knows he did it, and he can’t accept responsibility for any of it. So that’s why Eren throws the choice away.
Tumblr media
Eren can’t understand his father’s words, because in the end, being born, living his life, growing up, falling in love, making friends, losing some of those friends, growing older, getting weaker, all of those things are things Eren doesn’t want to do. Eren begins his life with “You were born into this world, you’re free to live hwoever you want” and ends his life wishing he was never born, and that’s the utlimate tragedy of his character arc. Not that it was inevitable he would eventually do these things, but beause it wasn’t and Eren chose to do them anyway instead of choosing literally anything else. Therefore, despite claiming Mikasa and Armin as the reason behind all of his actions, they weren’t, because he was inacapable of making the simple choice to be with them and grow up with them which is all they ever wanted from him.

I'm so sorry this took longer than expected T_T
(Yes Ik it's longer than the others I do, and that's cuz I usually end up mixing the headcanons into drabbles/one-shots, but this time, I kept it as bullet points and I got carried away. Oops. And yes, it's easier to write headcanons this way but it'll end up being long af)
When Cain first met you, he overheard and was curious about this new SCP during a test, so he decided to come and watch, from afar of course.
When Cain first met you, he overheard and was curious about this new SCP during a test, so he decided to come and watch, from afar of course.
Anyways, the little test was just a plain and boring one and little (Y/N) was taken back to her containment cell after 10 minutes. Cain had requested to see you as he remembered seeing in your file that you can breathe fire and cry lava among other things due to your dragon abilities.
It's not like he didn't believe them since he's been in the foundation for many years, but he was just curious about a hybrid child like you and wanted to see if you were doing well. You being a shy child was quiet at first and when Cain went to visit you every so often, you both became close and he was a father figure to you, even though you were abandoned by your father since birth and your mother died not long later.
He took good care of you and made sure you were well fed. You were rather polite to the guards and staff so Cain wouldn't need to worry too much about you intentionally killing them. But only for a short period of time as who knows what you'll be like when you're older.
Luckily for Cain, you were also carnivorous, so he didn't have to worry about you eating your 5 a day (not that you wanted to anyways you ungrateful meat-eating child).
Whenever there's a containment breach, the first thing he does is to look for you
Aside from some side effects, he isn't worried too much as he wouldn't receive any wounds anyways so hell just charge towards anyone who looks/sound like you
He's basically your new dad ok?
SCP 076 (Abel)
Abel first came into contact with you during a containment breach
He just saw you casually flying around and occasionally lending the guards a hand by breathing fire just to burn some holes for easier access (how professional)
He saw you again moments later when you were alone and you decided to approach this hulk of a man to ask for some help, thinking he worked there. Abel had abandoned you (like your hopes and dreams left you a millennium years ago) but you insisted on going with him so he took you in
Later his rage in the facility had vanished as he had cared for you for the short period of time he had met you and handed you over to the guards, much to their surprise
He then ran away as he's not totally scared of kids or anything and hid in his box
You insisted on visiting 076-2 and so the researchers did, realising much later that you both had bonded. Abel was a parental figure to you.
A very overbearing protective guardian I must say.
Even more so when there's a containment breach
Like imagine 610 and 682 mashed up together to form an extremely hostile entity and that's Abel for you
But that's only if you were hurt, if you weren't or fit was just a normal containment breach, had be extremely worried
SCP 049 (Plague Doctor) (Guy's pls don't be mistaken, I don't have any beef with 049 ok? XD If I make any characters a little OC then 049 will gladly rid the pestilence from you without consent)
This sassy MF so-called doctor right here met you when for some reason, the doctors had decided to put you both into a testing room (no, it wasn't Bright's idea).
049 was just doing his thing as you just sat on a really high chair (cuz you do be short so ofc you wouldn't be sitting on a lower chair which is lower than your taste in men/women) and watched curiously. The doctor thought it was somewhat cute and laughed slightly from your curiosity.
Sensing that you didn't have the pestilence, he allowed you to scooch closer just to see. After the test was done, the guards took you back out with slight aggression, but you, for some reason, were still polite to the guards despite their aggression which made 049's heart swell due to your pureness.
You yawned slightly and accidentally blew out fire from your mouth which almost caused a containment breach if it weren't for 049's quick thinking
Later on, the researchers had decided to put you both in the testing room again, and you both began to bond as 049 requested you to burn the bodies he performed surgery on
Needless to say, you both had a great time and the researchers were mildly amused
If you somehow knew another friend (*ahem* 035), he'd probs ask him/her to care/loof for you if there were a containment breach
Or he would just sigh and look after you himself if you were closer to 035 and he asked so nicely
SCP 035 (Possessive Mask) (Right about 049 being sassy.... I'll take that back, 035 is the sassiest, right next to a certain sculpture in the foundation)
Anyhow, 035 was actually the reason you were stuck in the foundation anyways
God knows how, but you met this guy wearing this theatre mask and you ended up here in the foundation
Now everyone thought you were either a Keter or Euclid
I mean, you were so close to being put into the Euclid class but ended up in safe since you were so polite to the researchers as well as shy and relatively easy to contain... For now
Whenever they used you in a test, you were rewarded with whatever you wanted, within reason ofc, whenever you behaved well which was like 98% of the time minus minor accidents since you weren't entirely in control of your powers
Sometimes instead of a reward, you'd request to see 035 as he would perform to you and that was only granted when its safe to do so and when that hideous mask would do as he/she/it is told
035 would be that somewhat overprotective yet goofy uncle that everyone loved and he was totally wrapped around your fingers unless you were hurt or if he urgently needed something or someone
If there was a containment breach, he'd look for you, if not he'll call out his 'friend' to look out for you (*cough* 049 *cough*)
When 035 finds you, he'd most likely ask you to fly around to see the nearest exit or he'd just carry you when there's someone chasing you
If 035 were to kill anyone, you'd cry and tell him no to which did end up in burning the floor but oh wells, they're rich enough to contain him so why not use the extra money to rebuild the floor right?
Anyways, 035 loves you no matter what and he'd do anything to make sure you're doing well
SCP 999 (Tickle Monster)
Ok so, when you and 999 first met each other, you were kind of just wandering around the facility minding your own business
999 just casually slithered up to your leg and offered you some sweets and a hug since you looked upset and so you accepted it
You both found a place to sit and just talk bout stuff and what life was like before you were captured
But you were cheery just like 999 and rarely attacked anyone, and if you ever did, it was either that you were hella pissed or you accidentally breathed fire/teared up some lava which burnt some stuff
The researchers would secretly take in some notes bout your interactions and just continued on with their day and left you both alone, but would sometimes keep a stern eye on you
They say it's for everyone's safety, and that's true to an extent, but the main reason they do it is to monitor your progress of you controlling your powers
Anyways, sometimes when it gets busy in the cafe or down the hallway, you just fly across the room, and sometimes, you'll be extra cheeky and play hide and seek with the researchers
999 would occasionally join in but he's more like a worried older brother to you
During containment breaches, 999 would run around looking for you and when he did, he would check if you had any injuries
When you say you didn't, he was relieved but not for long since you mentioned bout making new SCP friends and he just died right there and then (not really)
SCP 682 (Hard to Destroy Reptile)
Similarly to Able, he'd be wary of you at first
Like, he can sense that you weren't just an ordinary child when you just appeared behind him
He was somewhat irritated when you followed him around, but you reminded him of 053, so he just let it slide and let you show some affection towards him
It's not like he didn't like it, he was just embarrassed
Anyhow, the researchers wanted to test how 682 would bond with you, so they made you meet up with him again but in his cell
You were both chatting like father and daughter and soon, everyone had found out that not only could you fly, you could also cry lava, which yes did burn a small hole on the ground and you could somehow breathe fire
You were also immune to the fire and lava so they decided to have a full-on body check and discovered that you were built similar to the komodo dragon with a side of 682 (XD Don't ask)
682 was left stunned, but luckily he didn't feel the need to run up the wall like that bunny
Like who tf invented a self-eating bunny?
Anyways, research shows that just like Abel, the giant lizard was very protective of you
The theory has it that you were somehow related to the lizard, perhaps he laid an egg before containment and some guy took it in and froze it then decided to hatch the egg
During containment breaches, he would basically rampage around the facility, killing anyone and everyone until he found you
And when he did, he would check on you like the amazing father he is and then carry on killing but was then stopped by you
So he would just carry you around until you fell asleep
SCP 105 (Iris)
I think Iris would be a good mother/sister figure when it comes to kids
It kinda came from the fact that Iris hangs out with Abel and Cain a lot, so it kinda just rubs off her
Her motherly/sisterly instinct just heightened when she first found you on a mission and she just took you in
It took a while to bribe the foundation that she kinda had custody
Not exactly custody, but she had a say when it came to your safety, especially the fact that you weren't exactly human and your appearance would cause a disturbance to others
I feel like Iris would be a stern yet kind guardian towards you, leaning towards the stern part since you're a child SCP and has fire breath and lava tears
Iris wouldn't be entirely bothered by you flying around, but she had to bribe the researchers and some SCPs to help you fly better
She would murder anyone who had to cry because they made you cry and cleaning up after your tears is such a mess considering that you have little control over them
Your fire breath on the other hand is slightly more controllable, but if you were hella happy or mad you'd breathe the fire and burn anyone/anything
Most of the time, its unintentional and you're usually sweet and kind towards anyone, so manners aren't a big thing for Iris to teach you
She'd even teach you some of the stuff she learnt/discovered and you'd just sit there being nosy and curious about everything
Like that one time, you almost caused a breach cus you were so curious and friendly that 682 was about to snap off your head and rampage out of the foundation
And don't even get me started with the brothers and 096, OML
Other than that, you both were like a family you never had :,) (You're welcome!!!)
During containment breaches, Iris would literally pick you up and run
Unless you weren't with her for whatever reason (Yes, you're attached to each other's hips... Don't lie, you love it!), she'd do anything to find you
If you were hurt, shed tend to your injuries immediately and lecture you about safety
If you weren't hurt, shed still give you a lecture, then pick you up and run
If you made friends on the way, she may or may not approve and bite of anyone head
And the foundation wouldn't want an Angry!Iris around
SCP 106 (Old Man)
This old man here is basically the definition of a cool uncle/granddad
Without a doubt, he'd go into his pocket dimension and comes back with a teddy bear or some sweets
He'd spoil you a lot and the foundation had enough of this cuz by the time you become an adult, you wouldn't be independent enough
Anyways, 106 would let you go into his dimension and practice your abilities there for the safety of others
The researchers would occasionally ask you to carry a camera with you just so they know what it's like in his pocket dimension
106 rarely gets mad, and even if he was, it'll be about someone trying to hurt you since you're too kind and shy to make him mad
You're even kind to the researchers and guards which is worrying to 106 as they might take advantage of your kindness (which may be true for some, but most of them are just glad you're kind since it makes their jobs so much easier)
Sometimes, you'd make things levitate which was a shock to anyone who walked by and witnessed this
But only for a few seconds though, so it's not much
106 would encourage you to use your telekineses and he'd attempt to train you
Which didn't work so well, so that sucks
During containment breaches, he'd use his pocket dimension to his advantage
He'd hide you in there just so you don't have to get hurt
If you weren't there with him, he'd kill and hunt down anyone who might know where you are
He'd make sure you weren't hurt otherwise he would go into scary uncle mode
If you weren't hurt, he would just hug you which stops you from crying lava
SCP 096 (Shy Guy)
Now what makes you and 096 a unique pairing is that you're both shy
The only difference is that you can speak but 096 kinda doesn't
But that's not a problem since you both just understood each other since day 1
I'd say 096 is that introverted uncle/cousin but he's kinda chill and sweet with you
As for containment breaches, the only difference with this tall guy is that not only will he kill anyone who sees his face, he'd also hunt down anyone who'd hurt you
096 has a newfound ability for this and the researchers were shocked when they first found out
A certain chainsaw loving doctor wanted to test it out himself but was stopped rather quickly by the other researchers
Anyways, one time you almost burnt down the foundation because 096 crept up behind you which scared you to tears
And you screamed as well which didn't help at all since you could breathe fire
Also, when you're not with 096, you'd use your levitating powers to grab lighter objects which did result in the objects falling onto your head
And this is why you need to train more, so then objects wouldn't be yeeted onto your tiny head and knock the nonexistent brain cells out of your nonexistent brain - Sorry not sorry (Ok so at least pretend to laugh)
If anyone bullied you and you didn't say a word, 096 would know and even if you tried to stop him, it wouldn't work
Unless you're in a life-threatening situation, but even then, he'd kill the guy
Dr. Simon Glass
Unlike the others on the list, you're the one who approached the doctor
Mainly because you were lost, but you were curious as well
Simon would probably be the best person to run into, other than Kondraki, but still
It's because he's a psychologist and still very much human (I mean, Kondraki's a normal human I guess, but he has those butterfly thingys)
Anyways, when he first saw you, you were in his office flying about and crying lava
Simon saw you and was shocked but attempted to calm you down and get you you sit with him for a bit, then call the others
But boy did that not work out, because this poor innocent boi was boutta get killed by your firey breath cuz he startled you too much
Bright, Kondraki and Clef just strolled in and saw the mess and even attempted to get you to chill, but this didn't work either
So poor Simon Glass had to find his way to get you to stop being so scared which obviously worked
You sat down with him and he let you doodle on a blank piece of paper
And being a good psychologist he is, he used psychological methods to get you to feel comfortable and to start talking to which you did
You were so polite he gave it to a chocolate bar, but instead of taking it off his hands, you used your telekineses to levitate it in your direction
Simon recorded what he had seen before letting the other researchers take you and offered to take you under his wing on the condition that you were you have a check-up every now and again
That wasn't much of a problem since you were so polite and chill - Usually
During containment breaches, he would make sure that you were safe first and it wasn't so difficult to deal with you since you were with him most of the time
When you're not with him, he'd be extremely worried like a mother hen and run in any direction that would take him to you
He'd be relieved to see you and if you were hurt, he'd bandage you up and try to not cry
If you've made new friends, he would be very happy about it - Unless it's a Keter or Euclid class
They'll be on his watchlist
Anyhow, Simon Glass is basically your mother and mentor
He'd teach you all the basics you'll need and help train you if he can (he'd most likely have to ask the other doctors and SCPs with some bribery)
Dr. Jack Bright
Our favourite doctor here would be that goofy uncle/dad
I feel that he'd sympathise with you since he's also an SCP (sorta) and he feels kind of trapped in the foundation
If you're lucky enough, Jack might be able to take you out for an hour for some fresh air
You'll automatically be under his wing and nobody will ever question it. Ever.
Although he may be goofy and does stupid things, he would be surprisingly protective and his fatherly instincts kick in right away since he first met you
He would allow you to use your powers to an extent and teach you how to use your power properly
You are well aware of his anomalous abilities with his neckless, so whenever Bright had to change bodies, you'd automatically know where he is (other than the obvious neckless thingy)
If there were to have a containment breach, Bright would panic but quickly become calm as that's the only way he could find you and keep you safe
When he finds you he would give you that lecture while finding any scratches on you
If you were to grow, he would give most guys the dad glare of the century and all those guys would run tf away cuz nobody messes with Bright's newfound daughter
I have high doubts that he would let anyone do tests with you when he's not there and even if he was, they would need his approval, so most of the time, you don't even need to worry much
Dr. Alto Clef
(OML Why do I keep adding new characters?! There's so much to write T_T)
Right, so when Clef found you, it was like as if his long lost (well... not so lost) memory came back to him
For some reason, you reminded him of 166 (OML I'm so lost for this SCP, like boi she had a rewrite)
So he took you in the foundation like he did with his daughter and took care of you Since he works for the foundation, he's not remotely terrified or anything, but he's curious about your abilities
And of course, you managed to use some of your abilities because of some SCPs and Bright Clef took you to meet 166 and you both showed your abilities and since 166 is older than you, she's probably trying to help you control your powers more
Which, of course, makes Clef a proud dad
If there were any containment breaches, he'd panicked but once he found you with his other daughter, he was relieved
166 made sure that you weren't hurt and if you were, you'd be bandaged up so Clef doesn't have to worry too much
Anyhow, if Clef decides to introduce you to the tiger doctors, he'd make sure Glass is the first since he's the most sensible person (but let's face it, he wouldn't admit it)
Then it'll be Iceberg, Coggs (that's his name right), Light and a couple others Bright and Kondraki would be last since they would be somewhat chaotic (mainly Bright) even though they're the fun uncle
Whenever Clef has a mission, he'd shove you to either 166 or Glass, if he's free, if not then it'll most likely be Light (and if she's also busy, then yall screwed)
And bless the guy who takes an interest in you when you become a teen cuz our messy boi would make sure that guy would suffer
Dr. Benjamin Kondraki
Ok let's face it, Kondraki would definitely be the mother hen of the dad world in the SCP Foundation
He's literally your mother, kinda like Glass but kinda not, ya know what I'm saying?
Like he'll feed your curiosity since many people around you wouldn't and you're an SCP so you're trapped in the foundation anyways
I'd say he's quite cautious and caring, obviously, but if he's out and about, he'd definitely let you go with him
Unless he's going out for a mission, then that's a definite no-no
He would let you hang out with the safer SCPs like 999 and maybe 166 if Clef is chill, but he has to let you hang out with her cuz she's the only other SCP who could help you get a grasp with your powers
Like how to not burn the bloody floor when you cry and stop breathing fire inconsistently by accident
An attempt was made when they try to train your telekineses but they'll have to wait till you're older
Since most of the time you're stuck with Kondraki, I don't think he'd be all too worried bout breaches, of course, he'd be worried about your safety, but you're there with him
If not then god knows what Kondraki would do
Like that one time, he begged Clef and Bright to look for you in which they did but then they made him do something for them in return
Let's just say, it wasn't pleasant at all, but it could be worse since Clef had a shred of sympathy left for the man and Bright just wanted chainsaws

Q: Does he not get sad when his shikigami gets destroyed? A: He becomes depressed. People like Fushiguro gets sad over the death of animal than people he doesn’t know.
Q: Is he the type that gets interested in other people’s love life? A: Rather than interested, I think it’s a feeling close to proving assumption.
Q: How will he refuse when a girl confesses to him A: “Sorryyyyyyyyy!!”
Q: Does he watch the news or read newspaper? A: He watches and reads them, but doesn’t believe half of them.
Q: What was Fushiguro’s first mission and who went with him? A: It seems suitable that it was Gojo who watch him. He was teased.
Q: Who taught Megumi to do taijutsu and use weapons? A: Gojo, Maki.
Continued Q&A and Ten shadows technique under the cut
Tumblr media
Q: I want to know the worst problematic behavior when Fushiguro was in junior high school.  A: “The incident where healthy juvenile delinquents suspended like a banner”
Q: Other than his classmate in the past, has there any of his friends passed away? A: I think there has. Because at that point Fushiguro already had some career.
Q: After their parents vanished, how did Megumi and Tsumiki live A: Tsumiki basically did all the housework. Megumi helped to a degree. Gojo had intervened before the few money left by Tsumiki’s mother used up to pay the reminder of utility cost when it started to be delivered.
Q: He instantly remembered the name of his classmate, did he intermingle a lot (with other students) during middle school? A: He just has strong memory.
Q: Why can he has such a sharp insight? A: It’s because he’s basically a negative person who is hard to trust others
Q: Regarding on the only one senior he can sincerely respect, why doesn’t he include Inumaki? A: Because Inumaki will soon join Panda and Gojo playing around.
Q: Does he ever have laugh out loud until he cries? A: Never.
Q: Before he enrolled in the technical college, what kind of treatment did he received as sorcerer? Did he get to join in missions? A: He did not join. He observed Gojo, who acts like his supervisor, when he took him out in a few occasion, sometimes in mission.
Q: Is the tablet that he used his personal belonging? A: It’s owned by the technical college. It’s handed by accompanying assistant manager when necessary.
Q: Did he got acquittanced with Maki and Mai before entered the school? A: He did. When Gojo worked with the problem of Megumi and Zenin family, he took Megumi to Zenin clan’s house. When they went around the house, at that time I think they met for the first time.
Q: Is there any reason why he hates bell peppers? A: He dislikes sweet side dish.
Q: Is there anything anything to be aware about his character design? A: If I’m not careful, his outline can be similar to Itadori, and I generally thought ah, this is failed.
Tumblr media
Ten shadows Technique
Manipulating shadows as medium into ten kinds of shikigami
The inherited technique of Zenin family which uses shadow medium to summon forth shikigami with various ability previously laid down. Literally, there are ten types of shikigami, the first to be granted to the user is a pair of Jade Dogs, White and Black, other than them, the user has to subdue shikigami by performing subduing rite. Once the shikigami is subdued, the user can summon them freely. A shikigami which was destroyed completely can’t be summoned again, but their techniques and power are inherited by other shikigami.
Picture points (from topmost):
The initial shikigami, Jade Dogs have high speed, excellent at sensing and searching. Highly convenience shikigami.
From the destroyed white jade dog, black jade dog receives its power and powered up to be Jade dog Kon (totality).
There are 6 types of shikigami Megumi already subdued except Kon (expansion technique is also excluded). Counting out Makora which has yet to be subdued, there are 3 other types of shikigami.
Heavenly general Makora : the shikigami which still can’t be subdued by any successor of ten shadow technique sorcerers. It’s able to analyze its enemy, to develop resistance and land effective hits (on them).
Seitei shirazu (Bottomless well) : shikigami made from combining of Nue and Toad using expansion technique. Even if the expansion tehcnique is destroyed, it’s still can be summoned.
Domain expansion Kangouan’eitei (Chimera Shadow Garden) : the entire domain is made into swamp made of shadow, where shikigami and bunshin appear, employing the full extent of shadow techniques.
