Tommy adores it when you just wanna latch onto him and never let go but he does have things to do and so do you!

He's always in bed after you so you as soon as he sits on the bed you surprise hug him from behind and he just accepts it lol. You stay like that for a bit before you realise he's actually dosing off.

One time when it was a stressful day and the texas heat was getting to Tommy. You wanted to just smother him with hugs but when you went in for one he snapped and shrugged you off, huffing. I mean you were hurt but you let it go and went back inside , Tommy realised what he had done and went after you and for the rest of the day you were hand in hand

He likes it when at the dinner table your hand finds it way onto his thigh and you look up into his eyes with a smile full of love. He loves you so much!!!!

Well isn't that fantastic because he's also extremely touchy!!

Your going back and fourth, your hands on his hair? Well his hands are on your waist! There is never a moment when you two arent touching

One time you yelled at him for being so childish and he sulked into the walls and didn't come out. You layed in bed hugging a pillow trying to picture it as him but you just couldn't so you gave up. You found yourself walking into the kitchen to find brahms sat at the table eating some toast. "Brahms can you come to bed with me? I can't sleep without you..." you sheepishly said. He stood abruptly and walkedover to you hugging you tightly. You both said sorry and cuddle eachother up in bed. Getting tangled in each other.

So basically what I'm saying is that you two are glued by the hip.

Billy lenz

He appreciates the physical affection. Like EXTREMELY, for example if you pat his shoulder he would cream is pants..... that's how touch starved my man is.

He's pretty aggressive and doesn't realise he's squeezing you instead of just a nice hug. You have to show him the ways and hekk soon get it.

When the sorority girls are out and your the only one left inside the house you listen carefully for the attic to open and a giggly man to appear at your door. He's like a cat,he'll curl up in your lap and lays there while you pet him.

He does unfortunately makes everything sexual, if your on your bed ontop of him he will thrust up into you trying to get some sort of relief.

Bo sinclair

He does tense when he is touched. He just doesn't know when your being genuine. You can understand why he reacts badly to physical touch.

He likes it when he's sitting on the couch and you plant yourself on his lap and start to play with his hair. He leans into you while your doing this.

He's not as touchy so when you start climbing all over him he does get frustrated. He's his own person and needs space too.

But at night he does enjoy being the big spoon, wrapping his arms around you and chuckling to himself when he feels you fidgeting with his hands. He just can't deny your cuteness.

Vincent sinclair

Similar to his brother. He needs space especially when he's working. He doesn't want hot wax to spill onto his partners soft delicate skin! But when he isn't doing anything he's busy holding your hand and letting you drag him along.

When you can't help yourself and just want to stick to him while he's working he does allow it only if your behind him. He does shrug you off when he's got to focus on something or when your getting too touchy.

I mean hes a bit brain dead, he doesn't know what's the difference between just wanting a hug and wanting to do more than that but when your hands start pressing against certain parts of his body he starts to catch on and drops everything.

He won't really admit it but he really enjoys being little spoon he likes it when you press yourself against him and sit your head on top of his. Plus it's a bonus for you! Because he can't escape your grasp at night and go over work himself.

Lester sinclair

Bros a pretty princess, he loves your hands on him. When he's luring talking to some city folks your next to him holding his hand tightly, hiding yourself into his side.

You and Jonesy shower this handsome boy with kisses and you continue doing this for the rest of day.

He doesn't like it when your near the roadkill pit. He doesn't want you slipping and going in!

At night he lovessss cuddles, he likes digging his face into your chest. Ofc jonesy is included x

First, I adore you and your brain. Second, I have a silly little ankle tattoo of a doodle (it’s a lemon man) my sister made and fully love poorly drawn lil things so Eddie’s octopus is my favorite. Third! I picked up crochet during the pandemic (the first bit lmao where I got laid off and super depressed) and it’s so therapeutic when i need to just shut down and focus on one thing because I’m stressed or overwhelmed. I’m working on coasters right now, and god they’re so much easier than the first coaster pattern I tried (that one put me off for a while). I just had a funny thought though, of when Steve gets fully into it and does what a lot of us crafters do and stocks up on yarn for future projects.

I bought a big ass show organizer for all of mine and have to restrict myself to just what fits in there

(Also I’m picturing Eddie in a wonky hat like the one I just tried to make for my sister’s cat but he’s still wearing it super proud)

At the start of the pandemic, I got a new job where I was working half in the office and half from home. I also moved out of my parents’ house so I suddenly alone all the time and to kinda cope with that, I picked up knitting. I originally tried crochet but I just couldn’t get my hands to work right, but I’ve gotten it down (at least enough to do the second row), and I agree with you. It is very therapeutic and I’m happy that it was able to help you through a rough time.

And lol, but all of us crafters are the same because I have a whole shelf dedicated to yarn I bought for future knitting (and now crochet) projects.

It’s not Steve’s intention.

He is just trying this hobby out so he can tell his physical therapist that he gave it a go and it didn’t work. Steve is not crafty or creative like Eddie, so he doesn’t need to buy all this stuff.

But he did need to buy melting chocolate, so he agreed to go when Robin asked if he wanted to go to Michael’s with her. And yeah, maybe he did pick up a new crochet hook but that’s because there’s clearly something wrong with his. What other explanation is there for why he keeps skipping stitches?

And maybe he did get a new skein of yarn, but he’s just being practical. If he’s going to make Eddie a hat than he is going to need a color that compliments Eddie’s complexion, right? He might as well get this blue too. It’s a pretty color and there’s only like, five skeins left. It could disappear forever.

Then he bought a bowl to hold his yarn but it was cute! It was shaped like a sloth. And yeah, he got the yarn winder thing. That’s just practical. And okay, well. Joann’s has magazines with patterns in them so Steve’s going to need that.

And it all kinda just snowballs until, “Babe, what the hell did you buy for a hundred and fifty dollars at Michael’s?”

Steve, surrounded by yarn in each color, “Nothing.”

Also, Eddie absolutely wears anything that Steve makes him. A fan took a picture of him buying cigarettes in a lopsided hat. Another fan took a picture of him at show where his guitar strap has a single crochet chain wrapped around it. There’s a Tiktok where Eddie is pulling his hair up with a crocheted scrunchie.

Me trying to be vague and everyone immediately perking up like prairie dogs ready for tea alskfnkdkd. Idk I don't think it'll surprise anyone on my blog I've spoken about it in the past. Just got annoyed at it always being there for no reason and not making sense to me one too many times, I guess.

It's r0nance. I simply do not vibe with it at all. I think, if given a sterile au where there's nothing and no one connecting them and no homophobia to worry about, it might be interesting to possibly explore them being attracted to each other but realizing their personalities and goals and priorities clash too much to work out. A bright first fling into maybe-love that fizzled quickly. I've sort of done this in my post o66 sto bin au for them, but I'm probably not going to actually explore it there. (As it's already in the past even during the war for that au)

But in fics that try to be more or less canon/fix it type deal, it really doesn't make sense to me without even mentioning the hairsprayed elephant in the room. Robin and Nancy's personalities don't seem to mesh well, what with Robin's rambling tangents and Nancy's need to focus.

Robin would probably want to do something specific with her life, but she also wants to wander! Her parents are hippies and she wants to visit Paris. She wants to travel in Europe, and probably stay at sketchy hostels and backpack in the mountains, talking to locals that she doesn't have to worry about ever seeing again. Nancy is planning on immediately going to her dream school after highschool and likely pursuing a career right out the gate. She's very driven and focused, wants to go out and seize opportunities that can assist in reaching her goals, and I don't see Robin's dreamier personality traits fitting with that.

I think @thestobingirlie mentioned that while Robin and Nancy both experience the sexism and misogyny of the 80's, Nancy doesn't experience ableism as Robin does. And she doesn't try to understand where Robin is coming from, only openly appreciating her efforts after she ranted at the hospital director.

Robin rambles! We see her either ramble or give clipped answers ("I'm Robin I work with Steve!") When she's nervous or under stress or excited! We see both Nancy and Steve react to these rambles in different ways. When Robin goes off topic in the library with the conspiracy paper, or talks a bit too much about how much she talks a bit too much, Nancy's annoyed. She's initially dismissive of the national Enquirer esq newspaper Robin brings up that helps solve the case (go Robin!). Robin babbles at Steve a lot, and he never makes her feel bad about it. She rambles about rambling to Vickie and the Muppet joke and he adds little commentary as needed, letting her go, or he cuts her off with a little joke during her rabies freak out. He lets her ramble or lets her know she should stop without being actually annoyed and letting her know that by not telling her outright to stop. (She knows immediately that it's a joke, and she jokes back, although understandably nervously. I love them.)

Them being a background pairing so often is annoying, though to varying degrees. If it's just as Robin's gf mentioned I, like others, just kinda...change it to Vickie's name in my brain lol. But other times it's not and it just. Doesn't make sense why Nancy would be such close friends with Steve (her messy breakup ex!) and Robin and Eddie. That girl has big city dreams, she's getting the hell out of her tiny hometown and not looking back. Let her be free!!

I mean obviously the bit I hate about it is that Robin holds a grudge and Nancy broke Steve's heart, which I don't see as compatible, even if we take into account that it's likely Steve and Robin have no idea Nancy cheated on him, and that Steve is an unreliable narrator and blames himself for the breakup. Steve and his relationships with both Nancy and Robin are so pivotal to all three of their characters that ignoring the history there seems a disservice to the complexities of their relationships with each other.

#also really icks me when nancy clocks steve in fics like nooooo no.#thats scary for steve! and nancy gives me the vibes of someone that hears her ex is bi and be super weird about it #let us not mention robins character falling apart as soon as rnce is introduced as well. or the erasure and hate of our queen Vickie #anti ronance #findaanswers #anonasaurus #finda's rambles #tbh i hope nancy ends the series single she needs and deserves to focus on her relationship with herself and kr her family withiut romo #stranger things #stranger things meta #sorta i guess #robin buckley #nancy wheeler

do you have any tips on how exactly to practice art? everytime I ask for art advice everyone always says "practice" but idk what to practice first! do you have any strategies for learning how to draw something? do you do excercises? and if so how do they work?and are there any beginner mistakes I should look out for and change specifically?

thank you so much! im ok w answering! i dont want to speak as if i am an expert on how to draw things in general as i am learning as well and definitely am not completely learned, so i might not be the best person to ask since im not very professional w my art as I do it as a hobby (and I can only speak on mostly digital cartoon matters) but i reallly hope to try and help u out even a lil ! im really happy that you’re eager to draw :] I wish you so much luck muwah muwah

i also hated when ppl told me “just practice” and i dont wanna inflict tht on u EITHER LOL but also thats just what i ended up doing for awhile but i tried to find some things to help ^_^

tips for practice: My number one rule is that practices should be challenging but still fun, I know it can get frustrating trying to redraw a pose over and over trying to get it perfect. And over time it rlly is all about muscle memory, the longer you draw the more your eyes will pick out specific shapes in everyday life and convert them into its own vision of them! or at least its good to look at life that way, try to pin point key shapes and stress less on details in practices. after you look at key points, THEN you can go over what you have and draw in and over it to make it more “complete.” To stop practices from getting too stressful I recommend starting out drawing what you want a little more simple looking than ur desired finished product. This helps eliminate the pressure of everything not looking “perfect” and keeps your art more loose and fun. Doing this a few times is gonna get ur brain to recognize patterns in art and how things look/flow in anatomy and such. dont get stuck in ur own head abt perfecting everything to the point you either 1) give up bc ur not at a level capable of it being 100% “perfect” or 2) focus so much on making it perfect that you end up saying the work looks “wonky” or stale in dynamics, So while I do think studies help, don’t get too lost in them. I always practice with media I enjoy too, whether it’s characters or fashion I enjoy.

Strategies learning to draw something: people get mad abt this one but I think tracing reference photos is great. its been awhile but When I tried learning to draw hands better at first I would trace them then put the traced image to the side of the canvas, then try and replicate what my mind saw as its most important angles and aspects. Same for clothing folds/hair/etc! I think it’s maybe not the best idea to trace the ref and use the tracings as is, because you learn more from tracing it then trying to replicate and simplify what u learned into the style you’re working in. Find what shapes you like from them and don’t over detail it. you may have to go by eye and think “what parts of this ref photo should i simplify to fit my style” and for me, its usually adjusting the length of the torso and then the limbs by associations. i dont recommend feeling like u need a reference for every art you make though, its ok to let ur own head try out its own sometimes too while trying to learn this, see if it remembers any call bad from the past referenced sketches! over time ull remember where everything goes more, these days i rarely kick myself to use refs but im sure they still would help to use, but figure drawing simple blobby figure in a bunch of random poses was a big thing i used to do as well to get better at full body art + overall dynamics (still does this). also paying attention to silhouettes is great

Exercises and how they work: I WANNA HELP U SO BAD BUT to be honest, all the works on my blog ARE exercises! i rarely actually do finished pieces, if u scroll thru my posts ull notice most r sketches. i usually just fill up a page and call it “warm ups” then i get attached to some of them, take a few, and just line them up pleasingly on a smaller page, then color them in (or sometimes fix the lines to be more clean too). im not rlly a person who “exercises” to practice, it more so happens from just me drawing a lot for fun as a hobby! but i really should. i will tell u this has humbled me a lil i need to start practicing too 😭 LOL but a good exercise is to look at what ur inspirations do, and study it. Make a collage and write out what you like most abt their styles/what u want to gain from them. For ref Here’s a page I did awhile ago when someone asked me abt my insps:

i also look at fashion magazines and as well as anime figures and take insps from that sometimes with learning cool poses and compositions to convert into my own things

Beginner mistakes to look out for: its hard for me to pin point “mistakes” beginners make, as sometimes we cant avoid all of them or even notice them, progress comes from growing out of old ways. some mistakes are even the foundation of ur future amazing cool style! but i think some things to look out for could be these, from my own old art experiences

Hands were the first thing I learned bc i liked drawing them. I don’t know if that is the best way to go but I think it is smart to practice sooner than later, here is a lil guide thingggyyy wingyyy from awhle ago

i see beginners shy away from drawing signs of age in people, sometimes adding too much detail on an older person in cartoon art makes it look weird, so i try and hit the key markings on ppls faces of age.

Too thin of lines. sometimes its a stylistic choice to use thin lineart, and it can look amazing ! but sometimes it can flatten an image if ur not familiar with its flow. im not saying use thick line art, but more so to keep in mind the weight of ur strokes, adding depth with a thick thin combo of line art can do SO much for the simplest of pieces. heres a visual from a while back when i talked abt my brush + more abt lines:

but if ur desired style is thin lineart that is cool too! tbh it was just harder for me as a beginner

sometimes artists think they need to do full lineart for everything and then hate how it looks compared to the sketch, do not fear i will introduce u to my bff: painting over a sketch, extractinging the lines, then calling it line art. i only do this sometimes but its a fun exercise-ish thing to do in a pinch. example:

finding what shading fits ur art. sometimes ill see ppl starting out who have a style thats very simple, but they use a very detailed rendering process on it. this is not something id ever police of course, art is each persons own choice! And it CAN work. It can be so cute! but sometimes mixing two very contrasting mediums of art can throw off the “put together” look of it. i use to abuse the airbrush tool thinking it made my simple style look super cool and detailed, but looking back on it now those pieces looked a little off, having such a simple style have somewhat more realistic shading. dont get me wrong the ability i see ppl use rendering like that is so insanely talented! but i found cellshading to be a good match for cartoony art like my own. a tip i learned way too late abt that is rather than shading each layer by color picking a darker color, instead use a clipping mask over the entire art (above line art too as I color my lineart) and lasso tool the areas u want shaded + fill it w a saturated purple then set to multiply + lower opacity. also, sometimes coloring can come out chalky looking when u meant for it to be smooth and transitional, i think this comes from overshading and overlighting pieces without reason. pay attention to where the light source is, and focus on making the shaded and lighter areas nice shapes that cover the necessary areas, then u can add additional shading to the smaller details of what should have a casted shadow/light

its good to spice up ur art now rather than later, focusing making ur art pop more w backgrounds will help ur coloring skills look better too! i dont mean detailed huge backgrounds, a small lil color pallet and design rather than a blank white bg. like this will make u feel better abt it or at least it helped me *sweats* yeah:

beginners tend to draw blank faces like “:)” but I think a good thing to do is try and get silly with expressions early on. It’s okay if the mouth hangs off the face cartoonishly with joy or shock, it’s ok if the eyebrows are super high in surprise.

tracing and pasting it as is (already said this but I’ve seen ppl do it a lot with hair styles and it makes it look alienated from the rest of the style) (final fantasy fans found critically injured) n if need a ref for a pose, using a real humans anatomy as-is doesn’t look quite right on a cartoonyish drawing. Shortening torso and legs usually comes out of this for me!

flip ur canvas i promise u it’ll be less embarrassing over time!

using guidelines for perspective and foreshortening is GREAT. Do it stylistically rather than realistically to add some groove to it...yay. Having silly perspective in art can make it look like a 10 so easily opposed to a normal front facing sketch. Look at cool poses from fashion magazines! Don’t be scared to draw something you don’t feel confident in conveying perfectly, this is why progress redraws exist :)

Drawing the hairline b4 u draw the hair is great, it helps u understand where their hair flows from, where it starts and stops, AND prepares u for drawing bald ppl. Also don’t make the head too big, the skull IS bigger up top, but sometimes I see an alien head affect.

Anatomy is an interesting mistake that beginners make a lot, but it’s one they find harder to notice! When I started out, all my art would be SO wonky, but I didn’t even realize it! It still happens today too! specifically though I see beginners struggle with the arms in this department. My advice is to try and measure them out and make sure they don’t go past the knees, and are the same length as each other when Unfolded. asking for criticism is hard but it helped me realize when i would make something bigger/longer than it should have been in my art, and stuck with me being able to go “oh... i see it LOL”

clothing wrinkles- do not over do it! Too many wrinkles and shading can look unpleasant and wirey- like a plastic table cloth all bunched up which isn’t exactly what ppl wear. pay attention to gravity too

Btw since we're talking about ADHD strategies for handling organizing events and tasks — I like this book Grip: The Art of Working Smart for workplace (office, freelance, creative) organization (and growth!) advice. Rick Pastoor really breaks down how to manage a work calendar (he focuses on/prefers digital), and to-do lists. Basically he starts with the premise that people "aren't natural born planners," and we can't possibly remember everything we need to, so we have to create an external hard drive for our brain.

There's also stuff for like, evaluating your job (if it's a good fit, if you want something else) and performance, finding valuable feedback (and who to listen to which is like!!! Great advice) and stuff like that, but the beginning parts about organization are why I bought it.

Highlights:

Figuring out your work habits and how to experiment to make things easier for you

Action plan for last minute jobs

The Eisenhower matrix for figuring out priorities of tasks. I started doing this at work when I feel like I have too much to do and no idea what to do first. The book explains each quadrant and like, what to do about tasks in those places and it has saved my skin at least twice.

How to make a to-do list. Literally a whole chapter. There's prompts for what to put on it, how to deal if you have too many things jangling in your brain to start, setting up keyboard shortcuts for digital list entries to help preserve focus, how to turn vague tasks into to-do list actions, and then only later does he explain how to get more complex with the lists. How to use the list.

He even talks about like, intentionally hyperfocusing and setting up the right environment to do that when you want to crunch through something lol.

Whole chapter on dealing with work emails!! I have so many, all the time. Necessary to defeat the beast.

There's an added mini chapter at the end about preparing for a vacation from work and returning from work without everything being maximum stress which is great.

Basically EVERYTHING IS BROKEN DOWN!! EXPLAINED!! steps provided to make it easier or less to tackle!!

Apparently it didn't do so hot in the English (US/UK) market which is a shame because it was VERY HELPFUL to me. (I went searching and found someone else with ADHD recommending it, which is how I found this out!)

Our favourite bunnies go at it pretty fearlessly because Tess can't have any more children. How does that landscape change if she could?

I've read some fairly unreal Pregnant!Tess fics, that's not what I'm suggesting here. But I think it would be interesting to get the Arien treatment 😎 on maybe a conversation or a scare?

(idk, tbh, I really struggled with myself about this one, whether or not or put it to you, but then I thought, hey wth, why not!)

Hi! Thank you for sending this thinky piece to me! I’m going to answer it here rather than a prompt (hope that’s okay) as I’m not sure I could do this justice as a full story, but it is certainly interesting to consider. I’ve been turning it over in my mind for a few days to get my thoughts in order.

Making Tess infertile in Drifters was deliberate to avoid traversing into some very dark territory because, other than the killjoy of pregnancy scares, I knew I’d be looking at going into multi-miscarriage territory. I think given the diet, the lifestyle, the tension and the constant dangers, bringing a baby to full term would be extremely difficult. And while bringing a baby (or a dozen, given these bunnies) into the story could’ve had its moments, I think it would have ultimately drawn focus away from what I wanted to do. And I also felt, well, they had enough to worry about without tormenting them with that, too.

I’m also kind of untraditional myself, so the progression of in love = married = babies isn’t really my jam, even though I still find the concept kind of intriguing from a fictional perspective. (I mean, Tess and Joel as parents?? It is appealing. And I kind of flirt with that a bit with the fever dreams).

So with my rationale of why I did not do this out of the way I can now just give you a brain dump of Tessjoel pregnancy ideas that I might have done something with (and who knows? Still might somehow ...!) So trigger warning out there, this would be dark:

Tess finding out she’s pregnant between Missouri and Tennessee and hiding it for as long as she can, hoping it will just go away on its own or more likely

Joel figuring it out before she does because he is Attentive Father and Husband 101 and being like, “… is there any chance that maybe you might be … pregnant there, Tess?”

Violent morning sickness resulting in the trio holing up somewhere we didn’t see in the story – Tess quickly unable to travel, basically.

Everyone being extremely miserable and scared about it the whole time.

Tess ultimately miscarrying and then a whole lot of trauma and guilt because she wanted that to happen.

Joel not there when it occurs and Tess only telling him like, days later that it’s gone.

Joel wanting the baby the whole time, because his key jam in life is to be a father, and although he was sensibly scared about what this would all mean he actually felt good about it.

Tess then breaking things off with him entirely, not so much because she was afraid of falling pregnant again but because of the guilt being amplified when she realises that he really wanted it.

Meeting up with another group a few weeks later when they get moving again and Tess deciding that she’s going to leave with them.

I don’t know, maybe not seeing one another for awhile? Months? Maybe a year or so?

Finding one another again, maybe somewhere like Sioux Falls/if not actually Sioux Falls.

Naturally they’re at it like rabbits again, nothing has changed about the way they feel for one another.

Things are good for awhile, they’re careful.

She’d fall pregnant again and this time they’re like, okay, maybe this is something good, maybe we should do this.

Tess extremely stressed, maybe not so ill this time around but not really coping so well.

Joel being the one to have a handle on it, he’d just think she was so fucking beautiful pregnant it’d be sickening lol. He’d be rationing himself to give her the best food etc.

Another miscarriage, this time Joel is there and with her the duration.

This time it pulls them closer together rather than pushes them apart.

So things have been…rough. My lab results came back yesterday morning. Around midday I got this message from my pcp, the one that specializes in ed’s (abbreviated):

“your labs indicate worsening nutrition level with anemia, protein wasting, and liver enzyme elevations”.

I know this is bad but I don’t really know what it means in terms of what’s going on with my body. I did send her a message last night asking that question.

But I am very, very concerned about what this means for treatment going forward. My treatment team at PHP did see these results and are discussing things with this pcp but I really don’t know anything other than that. I’m going to guess I won’t hear anything today either because I have a management meeting for work (very important) and therefore I have been given permission to miss PHP today, obviously with conditions. But that means I probably won’t know anything until at least tomorrow.

I feel like I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place. Work or treatment (since I feel that the recommendation for residential is imminent). Regardless of whichever I choose I will be losing something very important to me.

I really am trying to move forward with recovery. I feel like things get worse when there is a transition but then things stabilize, but that takes time. The week I started work I b/ped 5 times. Last week it was twice. Right now I haven’t done it since Saturday. The night eating hasn’t happened in 4 nights in a row. My meals/snacks are significantly more structured than my first week back at work. Water intake was bad on Sunday but was probably the best yesterday since step down. In fact, it was more fluids than I was required at residential, per day (I was between 55-60oz’s of fluid yesterday).

I’m trying so hard and it is such an incredibly difficult struggle. Why is my body not catching up? I don’t know. My ed brain says that my behaviors are so much better that a recommendation of residential is bullshit but then I also understand where they’re coming from.

I’m just very scared and stressed with trying to balance everything. And what does this mean for my body? Am I really ‘sick’? And not in a ‘sick enough’ kind of way. More like, what if I pushed my body too far? It’s still only 6:45am so my pcp hasn’t messaged me back yet.

I’m really scared for the next few days. For now, I just want to enjoy the management meeting at work. The meeting is pretty much split between ‘team building’ and ‘management meeting’, so they actually tend to be fun, lol. I really don’t want to dwell on treatment stuff right now. My job is invigorating for me and that’s what I want to focus on.

as Monika from ddlc, i remember two timelines/lives! one timeline follows the canon events of the game where i was a sentient entity trapped within the game. in the other timeline, i was a human girl living in like, a normal world, except i suffered a huuuge breakdown from heavy stress. something in me snapped and i began to see the world as lifeless and flat, and i thought i was stuck in a simulation or video game of some sorts where everything and everyone was fake and i was the only real being. it was.... very hard, as you can probably guess, but with professional help and support from the other club members i got better

infodump about an oc

@yaoimurder hi squid I'm tagging uu here bc this is where i ramble about that vampire oc i mentioned ages ago, if uu remember that!!! read on if uu'd like (: my oc infodumps are very long and i mention almost EVERYTHING about them so uu can just read the basic info only lol

her name is midah she is my babygirl. she's also my first (and only) empires SMP oc and i ship her w my f/o (mythicalsausage s1)!!

picture #1 is much more accurate to how midah looks but picture #2 includes details about midah not present in the other photo, such as her red vial necklace, flowers on her cheekbones, and silly little hat

since she's an oc for a series I'll mention stuff that some might not know about, im too lazy to explain everything though so if anyone's curious at all just ask :3

okay midah's backstory is a LIIITTLE murky bc i mainly use her for vague-daydreaming purposes. anyway shes an assassin sorceress who practices blood magic and other types of magic (such as offensive fire Magic that involves creating and manipulating white fire). i got the idea for her name from the line, "touch me, midas, make me part of your design," from my ordinary life. other than that though, her character/story doesn't have much connection to the mythology figure midas. it's just her name that's connected to him. her name is pronounced like midas without the "s", or like the name Micah.

midah is half vampire and half flower elf. i don't really have info on what a "flower elf" is exactly, i don't think i wrote down the info for that, but basically it's just. Elf type connected to Flowers. and flowers often grow on (and maybe in...) their bodies. this can be seen in the red roses that grow on midah's cheekbones. help me my brain is coming up with ideas fur this elf type as i type this but I'm too tired to really focus on that and too focused on finishing this rambles

shes brave, strong, self assured of her own capabilities, tbh for the most part she's a normal person with not much mental and emotional problems, and she cares deeply for those she loves (like a certain mythical j. sausage... aka my f/o ever) she cares deeply to the point of sacrifice but hey, anything for true love amirite... shes also usually the voice of logic and reason compared to sausage but she doesn't try to stop his antics (until his antics start getting a little... demonic.) she totally tops sausage btw. shes also older than him by a bit and she's much taller than him (she's like 7ft tall)

anyway midah isn't very affected by the sunlight BUT she does need to drink blood every now and then, otherwise she gets a bit Quirky (aggressive, uncontrollable monsterlike behavior, and also she starts feeling a lot of physical pain) blood is like a Huge thing for her. she can perform rituals using blood. she wears a vial of blood tied to a necklace for good luck. she has a special bond with the blood sheep

wait what the fuck is a blood sheep? they're creatures from empires SMP s1, particularly the mythland empire (cough cough, that's the main setting of midah's "story") basically they're just Minecraft sheep dyed red. but lorewise they're mysterious creatures who have inhabited mythland for a very long time. they exhibit erratic behavior and sometimes display aggression to other beings. their blood and guts are also very useful for rituals! the blood sheep like midah a lot. they follow her around and nuzzle her like docile farm sheep and sometimes she can communicate with them and they follow her orders. they also protect her FIERCELY against anyone

the vial midah wears around her neck is filled with the blood of a sacrificed blood sheep. she wears it for good luck but replaces it every now and then because the luck can degrade and eventually attract bad luck instead

so yeah i have a lot of different storylines i imagined for midah and ill try to go over them briefly (I'll totally not type like 6 more paragraphs)

- backstory #1 explaining how sausage and midah met: midah moves to mythland and works there as a regular farmer at first and then attempts to join the assassin's guild managed by sausage. she expresses interest in being an assassin and spy. sausage is unsure of her at first,but hes intrigued by her, so he tests her with an easy normal mission: assassinating codfather Jimmy in the empire next door and bringing back his head. yeah that's totally not, like, the beginning of a war and political feud or something. so midah sneaks to the codlands, successfully kills Jimmy, returns with his head, and gets accepted into the guild. at the beginning of this backstory she puts on this facade of a totally unassuming and regular citizen who doesn't seem to have any fighting capabilities, let alone the capability to fight with magic and perform rituals, but then time passes and more and more is revealed about her and it's like Wow she's not who she seems to be. at all. and she quits her farmer job and goes all in on the assassin gig but does other stuff on the side too. and falls in love with saus along the way LOL

- midah x saus backstory #2: they're ~ childhood friends ~ who have been separated for like more than a decade and reunite when midah moves back to mythland. (i envisioned this scene in my head actually—a few days before returning to mythland, midah sends sausage tons and tons of letters sealed within a thick envelope, talking about her plans to return to mythland and why. and also updating him on what's been going on in her life the past decade or so. then on the day she arrives in mythland, they have one of those cute cliche scenes where they run towards each other on a long path and hug each other at the middle. and they cry a bit and talk and marvel about how long its been since they last saw each other. its really sweet ugh)

in this backstory midah was actually part of one of mythland's noble families. i made up some lore where mythland used to be ruled by four noble families (among them were house sausage, which is where sausage comes from duh, and house lavendar, where midah comes from, and yea it's intentionally spelled that way). the noble families/houses went to war with each other for power over mythland and the other two houses were defeated. most members of house lavendar left of their own accord and the rest that remained renounced their noble lineage, leaving house sausage who became the ruling family of mythland. the members of house lavendar specialized in blood magic and a lot of advanced complex blood spells were created by them. hence they have connections to the blood sheep in some way.

i like the longtime friends/allies to lovers dynamic that's going on in backstory #2 (: backstory #1 is still cool in its own way, strangers to lovers is nice, getting to know each other on purpose bc uu find each other intriguing is nice, even though uu might think uur very different people at first, uu get to know the other person a bit more and uu find out things about them and uu realize uur not so different after all ^_^ i read smtg about that once, about loving each other on purpose and choosing to love each other even though uu don't have years and years of history with the other person, and uu grew up completely without them and uur roots aren't tangled with theirs. but still uu love them. and that's very beautiful

i was reading your long post again…the one inspired by mommy kink.. and in it you switch between ‘she’ n ‘it’ freely. so for example.. sometimes reader will be ‘hers’ but other times reader is ‘its’. or sometimes you’ll say ‘her hand’ and others you’ll say ‘its face’ etc.

so i was wondering if there was a reason for the switching between both? (that i’m missing because i’m dumb) or if it’s just something you hadn’t even thought about?😁

Because yes, me switching between her/she and it is on purpose for multiple reasons.

As yall know, I see Maggot Momma as animalistic, feral being which acts on instincts more than anything else, is driven by them. Her deceased, rotten brain is just wired differently (meaning: she thinks her precious Drama Queen was meant for her and they belong together and she wants to climb into them and she thinks a certain someone is just as besotted with her as she is with them and-) and whenever I wanna show what´s going on in that rotten brain of hers, I use she/her. Basically Maggot Momma´s POV.

Now, imagine finding yourself in that situation - being hunted down, clawed at, sniffed at, licked like a lollipop, smothered, used as a humping pillow and-

(Doesn´t sound so bad though, does it? 🙈)

And all of that happens all day, every day and It looks like the walking dead and limbs get sent flying on a regular basis and there´s always this fear that It might just get tired of you after all and any day could be your last because you have no idea what´s going on in that rotten brain.

So, whenever I use "it" that means the story is being told from a certain someone´s POV.

Switching between "she/her" and "it" is basically me trying to show and clarify that there´s a distance - physical and emotional (more so emotional though cause Momma does as she damn well pleases and personal space wha-?) - between Maggot Momma and a certain someone. Because we have to remember that, while you as a reader do know what´s going on in Momma´s brain, they don´t.

When I write I focus mostly on the animalistic, unhinged nature of Maggot Momma and how someone would, realistically, react to that. So me using "it" means I want to stress that feral nature of hers.

Also, I rarely use actual conversation in my posts, as you might have noticed. What I do instead is trying to describe a situation as you would experience it yourself. Always keeping in mind that Maggot Momma and a certain someone have quite the different mindsets...

Hi hi! I’m super late with this (in internet time) because I have been pondering deeply and also the jelly babies have been eating my brain. Tumblr ate my original ask from @fatalfangirl but here are my fic recs, based on this ask meme!

📆 A fic you’d re-read 10 years from now

This is a bit of a cheat for me because I haven’t actually finished reading it, but rebel rebel by BasicBathsheba. I actually had to pause reading it for now (hoping to come back to it during the winter break) because I was getting VERY fixated on it and this little lass’ brain has only so much capacity for both being absorbed in a long fic while also drafting day by day.

I think rebel rebel is very much going to be for me, in the CO fandom, what After the End by Arabella and Zsenya was for me in the HP fandom (back when it was still on the Sugar Quill!). I’m going to be asking myself, ten years from now, “Wait, was that canon or was that rebel rebel?”

💯 A fic that makes you think #writergoals

Oh, oh shit, there are too many. Like way too many, especially recently. This is just going to be a love list of current WIPs which I’ve already frothed about at the mouth, no surprises here:

Stress Management by @whogaveyoupermission. In this fic, there is something so miraculous about the combination of emotional development in the SnowBaz relationship COMBINED with such vivid, concrete sensory, specific and sensual details (Baz’s clothing/hair/make up game in this fic SLAYS me). Just. WOW. There is so much genuine texture and emotional richness drawn into this story that it just seizes you by the throat.

Like We Had a Clue by @martsonmars. I tend to think of and craft in sentences, or bits of dialogue, or to get caught by certain images, but @martsonmars is INCREDIBLE at writing these long, beautifully developed and structured paragraphs that induce more emotion than an entire volume from Proust’s Remembrance of Things Past. Also @martsonmars is so, so good at having this unique, vivid take on secondary characters (Pippa! Gareth!) that makes the world feel so real.

A Dangerous Affinity by @larkral. THE WORLD-BUILDING, MY GOD. It’s funny that I love reading spec fic, sci fi, fantasy, etc, but I am actually very bad at world-building; my tendency is to get very granular and focus on relationships w/ spec fic elements on the side. But @larkral does such an amazing job of both setting up the world while hooking emotional claws in you with the characters (THE SLOW BURN! THE NPCs!), and showing how environment & character affect each other so powerfully. I've just gotten so used to the world of Watford that it is very defamiliarizing (in the best way!) to see the Scholomance in such sharp contrast. I just got a copy of A Deadly Education and I am excited to read it eventually so I can be like, “Hoho, I SEE what @larkral did there!!!”

💘 A fic you couldn't stop reading once you started

I’m going to cheat here again a bit and talk about a fic for a fandom that is not Carry On, LOL.

Fox in the Hole by boomturkey. This is an AU where Hinata (one of the main characters in Haikyuu!!) goes to a different school for volleyball (Inarazaki, with the Miya twins) rather than the one in canon (Karasuno), and it. IS. INCREDIBLE.

Basically the author has taken minor characters and OCs and fleshed them into main characters, built this whole alternate timeline and world, and is so GORGEOUS. It’s the sweetest, slowest of slow burns because so much of it focuses on the richness of a friendship just unfolding in real time, and so many relationships are beautifully developed beyond just the main pairing. (LOL, is it evident how much stuff like this has influenced Jelly Babies??) The entire universe includes four fics and clocks in at a whopping 234,790 words, which is a kind of word-smithery that boggles my mind.

Helloooo recently discovered your wriggle up on dry land fic!! Loving it so far!! I just had a thing I wanted to ask, as I know you said you’re from America… how accurate to actual schooling for Baby Jamie are you going to go? Because if Jamie’s in Year 11 (10th grade, I think) he’ll be doing his GCSEs which are big stressful exams in May/June that have some sort of influence on his future (if it’s not football) like what college (different to American college, which is university in the UK - I don’t mean to over explain but it’s all very confusing) or sixth form he goes to etc … but obvs if that’s too difficult to integrate I’ll suspend my knowledge of school for the plot lol 🩵

yes, i'm what i've taken to referring to as 'americanadian,' i lived in the states most of my life and am now settled in canada where i've been for a few years and intend to stay!! i'm doing my best with the regional stuff but yknow, i'm sure there's stuff i'm gonna miss or is gonna sound weird. i am however aware of the school situation and the ways that would likely impact his life and his future!! i've been thinking about it a lot and i plan to do my level best to be as accurate as i can be, though it's definitely very confusing sldkfjs.

(taking a moment here to shout out my good buddy @nativestarwrites for allowing me to pick her brain about regional stuff and ask about a million questions, she's a champ and i wouldn't have had the nerve to so much as mention what year he was in without her help. the internet does not make it easy to figure out how all this works and the structure, schedule, etc.)

he's in year 10 now!! but he'll be in year 11 soon (i have a like. chart. of what he's taking for GCSEs lmao) and it's gonna be a lot with the timing of the stuff happening... i wanted the whole like. the point being how young he is and what it's like to be a teenager while things that are too big and too horrible for anyone to deal with are happening to you and everything about your life is out of your control and like. the influence and presence of school in all that is way too important to not have it like. as a presence and a factor even if it's not a maaaaajor focus, y'know.

i'm grateful for the willingness to suspend your disbelief, that's probably gonna be necessary at least at some point bc i'm sure there's gonna be things i get wrong that are gonna be pretty glaring to someone who's familiar with it lsdkfj it's definitely uh. convoluted!! the grace is much appreciated XD

And okay I probably just have The Eclipse on the brain (when don't I, really) but this is so very soft!Akk & Aye coded, lol. Zo is the over analytical one who cares way too much about other people and Joke is the one who cares about himself and his people and thinks that Zo should focus more on himself.

Ha so Joke is afraid of heights. I would love to walk on a glass floor like this. I've done so other places and it is a trip. I love it. But I have never had a height thing so that probably helps.

Aw yes Zo get handsy while helping Joke with his fear. We like that. Him physically stopping Joke from looking down...we love to see it.

Oh they are cute on their little date. Zo better cotton on to the fact that it's a date soon. We already know he's now aware of his own attraction and Joke...is not subtle.

No I want to know what a boomerang is too. I am not hip with the social media stuff and this is the second time I have heard this boomerang thing.

Aw, Zo. Okay I'm really warming up to him this ep. And I have said it before, but I think that Dunk has really improved. He lost a lot of the little quirks that drove me nuts in SIMM and he's way more natural here, less stiff and like he isn't sure where to move his limbs at any given moment.

Oh my gosh this phone thing is too much for me. It's cute but aaah no too much.

My gosh this dude is so smitten please someone put him out of his misery. It's up to you, Zo.

Ah okay so it is a hidden relationship, just not from friends. I'm guessing family stuff? Does that mean it'll rear its head with Joke too? Will that be our central conflict (if we have one)?

Ah, so it's that he doesn't want to be picked on by his straight friends. Man, this is so different from Max I kind of love it. And I really hope that they talk because this kind of thing can break a relationship. I have said this before but it doesn't matter how much you love each other, if one person wants to be out and another can't or won't be, it can easily breed resentment that will slowly strangle the relationship.

I’m reading the Transformers x Mazinger Crossover Manga: Part One

alright there’s a lot to go over here and it’s all incredible

I’m just going to fixate on this chapter by chapter because each one is a contained little mini-story so that sounds doable

chapter one: Bumblebee is written like a very tiny child for some reason and it’s very cute and good, also Ratchet is Very Nice to him and I rate this first chapter as a full 10/10 by default purely because of this

so my review of Chapter 1 of this crossover is going to focus entirely on a single panel because it checks all the boxes in my brain for shit I look for in Transformers media, which is pretty much just “Ratchet doing shit that shows he cares”

I don’t know the behind the scenes on this (I will look into it when I’m not having a terrible asthma day during a heatwave lmao) but I think the Mazinger writer thinks Bumblebee is supposed to be a giant space robot toddler

at the very least, Bumblebee seems to be depicted as being wayyyy younger than usual, and Ratchet is evidently filling the caretaker role (as Primus intended) which is excellent

I’m also not 100% sure if the writer for this just wasn’t super sure about the characters or what but it genuinely doesn’t matter because this one panel is so fucking excellent for me personally to look at and also to read and enjoy

it’s so simple but so good because you can see in Ratchet’s whole expression and body language here that he is absolutely using a genuine “good job tiny son” voice and that is so powerful, this image is so strong, please give me family dynamics in my Transformers content all the time thank you

I mean, look, I’m just saying I think they thought Bumblebee was a toddler because he’s tiny and the youngest right, and Ratchet is a doctor robot so he’s nice and takes care of the robot toddler right???

like I’m not mad, because I fucking love Ratchet’s “yes son, you’re doing great!” I-must-be-kind-to-the-child face, lmao. look at how hard he’s trying to be supportive here.

but then Wheeljack slaps his hand on Ratchet’s shoulder and says some incredible shit like “It’s good to know the kiddo listens, when he asked me earlier for a good hiding place--” just totally oblivious LOL

and we close the episode with a classic G1 group shot of everyone just standing in there laughing as we hear a pretty solid CLANK as Ratchet smacks Wheeljack off screen with his wrench

chapter 1 summary review:

it’s good shit, you’ll probably need some context for Mazinger basics to follow along, which may also vary a little bit depending on the translation available to you (if any)

Hi Phoenix I was wondering do you have any advice when it comes to writing a story ? I’ve been planning /writing a story awhile now but I feel like I’m basically copying fairy tail , the way the hero and heroine meet is like how Natsu and Lucy meet , the team I’m planning putting them in pretty much team Natsu all cause I put a girl who magic is like Erza but it’s hard to make unique magic that fits into a fantasy world.I feel like I’m gonna have a mental break down with all this stress, sorry

Ok so first of all my comrade anon. Breathe. Slow your brain a bit, cant do anything if your stressed tf out lol.

Now that we got our heads screwed on straight let's get talking.

You feel like your copying FT but guess what? This is still the first pass of your story! There's time to fix and change and snip away things to make it it's own thing so stressing out over it while its a wip is moot! I get that is natural to hold your head while your still in progress (trust me i've been there) but you've got time! No deadlines! All the chances to keep fixing until the story comes into it's own until you get it right!

And plus there's also the fact that no story/character is truly original in the sense that tropes, character traits, story beats, powers, etc often find themselves repeating.

Lets give some examples!

If we stick close to home Fairy Tail, Eden's Zero and Rave Master all had their main duo have 'meetings by chance' where the male protag is given the chance to showcase his unique abilities by defeating a large group of minor antagonists and being the instigator for the story's major events.

Then going along further we meet a male character who's abilites lie in creation acting as a rival to our male MC and a another female character who is incredibly strong. Things repeat!

And outside of the mashima circle it still holds true.

Superman and Omniman from Invincible essentially are the same at their roots (and yes i know omniman was deliberately crafted to be a superman like figure but regardless) of being a nigh invincible super powered aliens.

Pinkie Pie from MLP, Spongebob and Mabel from Gravity Falls all fill the same niche of the super happy go lucky character.

Natsu and Luffy are often lumped together with bearing similar traits of being the positive male protag. Heck even in Naruto the character role of the hardworking loser is filled by both Naruto and Rock Lee in the same series!

The key thing that makes all these characters their own despite having similar traits? Their execution! How they're used in story and the traits the creator chooses to showcase the most!

Superman is a hero and uses his powers for good, Omniman is a colonizer seeking to take earth for his empire. Pinkie Pie's cheerfulness is used for gags and breaking that universe's logic, Spongebob's endless positivity being slapped onto such a normal thing ( just a dude working at burger king) is where half those jokes came from and Mabel's quirkiness is used both to balance out her brother but also is used as a flaw and insight into her character.

And you're worried about powers being similar but extends to powers too.

Powers especially! Truly unique powers are hard to come by in this day n age!

Luffy and Mrs.Incredible have the same powers of elasticity but both focus on different aspects to the elasticity and how they use em. Mrs.Incredible is a logical character and uses strategy hand in hand with her powers to cleanly incapacitate her opponents whereas Luffy is written to be hardhitting and is literally made of rubber instead of just being stretchy alone which allows deeper uses of his powers.

Elemental powers are a staple in fantasy media but! That doesn't stop em from being used does it? Avatar is a good example of this where yes it does use common powers, but those common powers were written with a tightly structured power system that made it stand out.

So at the end of the day, you should worry less about things seeming similar and focus more on the execution of your ideas.

Your protags have a meeting by chance, however where is it? Who ran into who? Did they start off on a good foot or as enemies?

You have a magical swordswoman, are you having her summon weapons? Why not change how she summons them? Maybe she has tattoos of the weapons she uses on her body to summon them, or she made contracts with deities who gifted her tools she can summon at will. Or she has prosthetic limbs that she transmutes into weapons to use at will.

Common ideas, but different ways how they can be used.

At the end of the day an interesting spin on an old trope or concept is what writing sorta is, so stressin about things that seem similar's gonna do ya more harm than good.

You have time to think and go over this more than once, look at your characters, really sit and look at then and figure out what traits they have that you want to exploit and how it can be used to build em as their own character. Dont worry too much on the powers, i can assure you that similarity is not the end of the world. As long as it isnt literally copy and paste then you are fine.

Breathe. Take a step back. Look all over at other series, books, even irl for inspiration.

reki - okay is this a surprise? we all know that i am completely biased BUT i did attempt to put the bias aside a little bit so here's why: it is obvious that reki cares about what he's talking about and teaching, therefore, i'll be more invested. not only that, but he's an AMAZING teacher and not only does he know the ins and outs of skating, but the ins and outs of the BOARD. this kid knows Exactly what he's doing and probably the Most about skating out of like. literally everyone in the show. plus, he wouldn't make me feel bad for messing up or learning slowly because i am. a Slow learner lol

joe - okay is this partially because he has a nice, calm voice and i know he wouldn't yell at me unless i was far away and he needed to yell therefore i wouldn't get panicked? partially. look, joe is the kind of guy that i would ask to do my driving hours with instead of my parents, you know? and he doesn't focus on being "good", which is important to me!

oka - this may be an odd one, i really thought about who to put as third, but i feel this in my gut. like reki, he Knows boards better than anyone else. he Knows skateboarding or he wouldn't own dope sketch or be invited to s or be successful. plus, he'd make it enjoyable and i feel like it would probably be most relaxed with him and he would share stories of the times he messed up and stuff to make me feel better and. y eah oiuygyuioiuyg

see, i Almost put cherry, but the thing that made me Not do it is that cherry is a very calculated skater, therefore math and science and stuff is important to him and. well. i am an eng major for a reason. i feel like i jus wouldn't understand because my brain simply doesn't function that way, but cherry's very much so Does, so we would be stuck. plus, love him, but i feel like he'd accidentally make me cry lol like he would be the parents i leave because they stressed me out while driving

miya would be fun, but i feel like they would make me cry slightly intentionally ("slightly" because i don't think they thought i would Actually cry, they just wanted to push my buttons) and they would insult me too much and then i would fall apart because i would feel worthless (this makes it sound that i don't like miya, but i feel like miya shows affection by teasing and i would take it seriously, especially since i wouldn't be Good at skating lol)

then. langa. sweet langa. he wouldn't know How to explain it. i feel like he knows how to Do it, but he could never put it into words unless he's with something who learns similarly to him (i.e. rainbow dash kind of), so he would struggle to communicate and i would struggle to understand because also i am. dense. poiuhgyvhjokijhg

then see, with shadow, there's shadow and hiromi. shadow would scare me and would prolly be a little too intense, and hiromi would probably deny that skateboarding exists
