OK this is a total shitpost but...
I have this theory that the Tumblr team is basing a lot of their disregard for old users, their batshit changes, etc. on erroneous ideas about fabled 'new users' who show up on the site and then don't do anything because they're 'confused' about how the site functions.
When in reality many of these 'new users' are just bot accounts that they are too blind and self-interested to identify as bots.
I am extremely vigilant about new accounts interacting with my blog. I always check every new like or follow to ensure it's not a bot. I have noticed a huge pattern in who a lot of bot accounts follow. It seems like I'm on a list that these botters are using to populate the follow lists of the bots they create, as there is a lot of crossover on the lists of these (obvious to me) bots.
This has been going on for months and months, and I've reported and blocked every single one of them. Recently I got curious to see if they were being removed as bots, so I dug back through my block list and found that all of this certain category of bot accounts are still intact and live on the site!!
I contacted Tumblr about it, sending them an extensive list of account names and explaining the issue in detail, and their responses were asinine. They don't appear to recognize these accounts as bots.
But they are definitely, 100% certainly bots.
No point in this post except to rant a bit about the extreme incompetence of this team.

To anyone who reblogged my recent Anxiety Post which begged people with Hebrew/English language to do free translations for me: I have deleted that post. It was an Anxiety Post and I have come to expect (perhaps unfairly) that most of you know not to take my anxiety posts too seriously. On the other hand, I also often forget that I’m perceived as like…kind of a big deal on tumblr and that my words carry weight.
However, @hxhhasmysoul very fairly pointed out that that context is hardly obvious to people who see it on reblogs (or honestly anyone who doesn’t pay attention to my shitposts or has trouble determining tone over the internet).
This user also (again, very fairly) pointed out that the post indicated that I’m willing to write this history based on potentially shoddy translations, and that I’m comfortable not paying freelancers their due.
Those things are false; was I hoping a wealthy retired rabbi looking for a hobby might stumble across my post and volunteer? Sure, but I would never actually treat the translations of such important works, and the importance of living wages for skilled professionals that flippantly.
For full transparency, there are three translators I’m working with: a multilingual Palestinian woman who translates for a living, an Israeli woman who specializes in translating Hebrew memoirs to English, and a PhD candidate in the field of Jewish Studies.
To those who reblogged the post: I certainly apologize for my hard-to-parse flippancy, and I appreciate your support. And to any translators or other freelancers out there: I would never actually expect you to do intensive work like this for free. That’s gross and unethical.
THAT SAID, if there are any wealthy retired rabbis looking for a project reading this right now, hmu.
And finally, please always feel free to call me out or question me on stuff like this. I can be defensive, but I’m also Chaotic and Extra and sometimes need to be Informed and Held Accountable. I appreciate it, and your willingness to engage with me like that.

Tumblr media
you said that there is no inbalance between likes and reblogs, and that people made it up. how can you be so blind when it is so, so painfully obvious? this used to be a blogging site, but no one reblogs anymore, and most of the art/edits go unnoticed. and this is not just me, all of my content creator friends are experiencing the same thing, many of them even quit editing because no one even reblogs anymore, and the content never gets spread around. the only stuff that gets lots of reblogs nowadays are funny shitposts or tiktok/twitter screenshots. fandom gifsets only reach 2k+ if they are on the trending page. are you aware that this site is no longer the home of fandom, but the home of shitposts and leftovers from other apps? if likes AT LEAST showed up on dashboard like on twitter, it would do miracles to us. please consider making changes to the like button before you lose all your content creators.
i believe you must be referencing this and this?
first, i don't believe anyone "made it up". i know people (including other members of tumblr staff) are worried about this, and for good reason. but let's break this down a bit more.
your specific screenshot is a cumulative total over time, and reblogs repeat much more often than likes, since people can reblog many times and can only like once, so of course the further back you look, the more the ratio will be better for older posts. also, the interface back then didn't even separate the like count from the reblog count, so how would anyone in 2015 even know the ratio? probably by looking at their activity, but even then, if you're actually a popular blog, you're probably drowning in activity items and can't "see" the ratio.
i can almost guarantee you that if you were counting the ratio for the first 3 months of a post's life in 2015, and compared it to the first 3 months of a post's life now, you'd see very little divergence in the reblog-to-like ratio. i literally have access to see this ratio across the whole platform over time, it's part of my job, and i can't find strong evidence that the ratio has changed. i was really worried about this too!
the big caveat i'll concede is that for some individual blogs, the ratio may be different today than it was 7 years ago. if you're comparing tumblr in the universe of 2015 to tumblr in today's ecosystem, you're in for a hard comparison no matter what, because the world is not like it was in 2015. that's not altogether a bad thing. times change. we have to adapt with it. some blogs that were popular in 2015 simply aren't going to be as popular today; and likewise, some popular blogs today wouldn't have been popular in 2015.
also, "if likes AT LEAST showed up on dashboard like on twitter, it would do miracles to us" -- they do! it's called "Based on your likes", and you probably didn't realize you turned it off in your Dashboard Preferences, so you never see it. it's on by default for everyone, unless they turn it off. it's a really amazing discovery mechanism for many, many people on tumblr. that's part of what we've been trying to do to adapt the platform to any such changes in behavior over time.
regardless of whether or not the ratio is changing, though, i definitely agree with you that there's more for us to do to try to keep content creators around. making it clearer how content spreads around the platform is definitely one of those things. stay tuned, because there are lot of improvements in that regard that we've been working on. but they don't look the same as what we may have done in 2015 tumblr terms, they look closer to what other mainstream platforms do today.

* BIRDS OF A FEATHER ATK 4 DEF 6 * Ayyy, they're walkin' here!
Time’s End is an AHIT/Undertale crossover AU of sorts, taking place in the aftermath of a timeline where you lose the final boss fight against Mustache Girl. You can find the write-up here! In addition, you can find the write-ups for the Neutral Endings and TimeWarp Route Requirements on Google Drive! The logo for Time's End was designed by @bittybattybunny. She's an incredible artist, be sure to check out their work here on Tumblr and over on Twitter!! This track was commissioned from my boi Wisteria Bird Studios. Be sure to check out his work too!
Motifs:
Alpine Skyline Bonus Track
Original
You can also listen to this track in high quality on the AU’s SoundCloud here! The rest of the description is underneath the Read More.
Some Alpine Pompous Crow-nies replace Dogamy and Dogaressa, and the Slighty Bigger Alpine Pompous Crow (their leader) takes on the role of Lesser Dog. The Crow-nies have leather jackets... somehow. And when I say that their leader is a Slighty Bigger crow, I really mean Slightly. Like... only 1-2 inches. Mafia Boss siccs them on Bow during a Pacifist/Neutral route, just to be an annoyance. She'll come out on top, but not before dealing with some Greased Lightning. ...You know, fried chicken sounds really good right about now.
Honestly? I don't have anything "philosophical" to say about this. I had no ideas for these roles, so I just decided to take the base design of the Alpine Pompous Crows and shitpost my heart out. My boi Kristian did a FANTASTIC job on this music tho! The obvious basis here was New Age Retro Hippie from Earthbound, but some inspiration was also drawn from this cover of it. Not much else to say here, so I hope you guys enjoy!

If my blog dies or is shadowbanned let it be known that I died fighting to explain to staff that the hellsite doesn't have to become instagram
Re: Today's staff announcement (And what I sent staff in feedback under the cut)
Staff's latest announcement at: https://www.tumblr.com/staff/722477242948747264/tumblrs-core-product-strategy
Aside from the obvious concerns about the following tab being removed and the chronological feed being removed (let me tell you how annoying it is on my newer blog having to change over to the Following tab instead of the For You tab each time I log in because there's not a way to permanently enforce that change), there are a few major issues.
1) Absolutely NO notification emails if push notifications are turned off. I turned them off. I don't want emails if I turned off notifications. This is the dumbest thing I've seen proposed in quite a while. Not even Instagram and Twitter send emails when you have notifications turned off for the site.
2) Bring back picking blogs to follow in the introduction steps, not just tags. This should be a no brainer. This site is unbelievably easy to use if you know that following blogs = content on your dash.
3) Don't collapse reblog threads. We make reblog chains for the humor of it. And if you must, you better make that toggleable the way collapsing long posts currently is. I want to see my reblog threads. There's a whole culture around this, which you might take the time to dive into if you wish to understand how things are being used by the userbase.
4) The same goes for hiding duplicate reblogs. First of all, doing it multiple times can be for the humor of it. But also? People use that as a timed post system to reach different parts of their audience based on the time of day. And it's much easier to promote an old post about your commissions than make up a brand new one each time. Your "creators" function much better the way things are than they do on sites that don't allow this- And you can ask them about it. Once again, if you must, make that toggleable.
5) Speaking of reblog issues. You want to clean up reblogs and make post chains easier to follow? Bring back our ability to click on usernames to track back through reblogged additions to posts. Don't take me to their blog. Don't take me to their frontpage. I want to see what they said on the post, and THEN I'll consider following them, not the other way around.
6) Y'all seem to be under the impression that the majority of us "create content." If content is us musing our random thoughts aloud and shitposting, then you'd be correct. Not everyone coming on here is coming to gain a mass following and monetize themselves-- I would bet, if you used one of your polls on a staff post, you'd discover that a majority of us are not doing that. We're here to socialize using a form of online media.
7) Since we're bringing up feedback issues, toggles should be permanent. If you make something toggleable, I do not want to go back in once a week and have to change it back. This applies to 3 and 4. And certain other issues.
8) Staff, I know y'all are getting a fair bit of hate for this, since y'all just make the announcements, not so much the upper level decisions. Especially not the corporate drivel lingo in today's. So let me address this one directly to the corporate overlords: If you want to make money off of users and improve the traffic of the site, you might try asking the userbase at large what keeps them on the website. Not what they want to see improved, what keeps them there. Tumblr succeeds because it isn't going the way of other social media websites. Don't be just like everyone else. That's why we're here in the first place.

Rodrigo's family is part of the Spanish nobility and the military, of course there was going to be a Spanish flag at that wedding.
People from all political spectrums use plan b/abortions/etc. when they find themselves in a situation they don't want, even if they are 'against' them. Anon must be a teen to not know this.
But it's so interesting that people like that anon use every opportunity to go to blogs to post shit against Carlos when they were stalking his sister's wedding. If they dislike him so much, I don't know why are they reading your blog.
i wanted to say that most people do use contraceptives & other pregnancy prevention methods, even if they publicly say they dont. at the end of the day, i think they’d rather suck it up and buy a plan b than to deal with the bad press of a child out of wedlock. but i didn’t because i’m not trying to spark up a political discussion on my blog. a lot of people can’t seem to have a civil conversation about politics in any setting, and i think that hashing it out on social media/tumblr/anons is the worst thing i could ever do to myself and the people who follow me.
and if i’m being honest, i didn’t really view the ask as “anti-carlos’ as much as it was attacking my shitpost for being inaccurate. and again, it doesn’t matter if you (gen) think it’s inaccurate, because it’s based off my opinion ya know????
but yeah. this is not a safe space for people who are anti-carlos….. if it wasn’t already obvious.

Let’s ramble a little
I was thinking about Castle, how it’s still so popular even here on Tumblr which I consider a slowly dying site. Whereas a lot of other fandoms have simply left or have found another subjects of interest, Castle is still going strong and keeping it’s loyal fan base, though certainly a little smaller than it used to be. I don’t think there are many other cancelled TV shows of this genre (police procedural drama) still receiving such amount of love as Castle. With that said, the circumstances surrounding its cancellation and all the other “bad stuff” around it suck even more. But I don’t really want to go there as it’s a big can of worms which I don’t wanna open ever again.
Anyways, it’s an obvious thing to say that the actors did a fantastic job bringing their characters to life. So I’m not gonna be rambling about how for example Stana’s Kate Beckett is a badass, super sexy, flawed and believable cop who is literally destined to be loved by the viewers or how she and Castle makes a perfect couple not only for the hardcore shippers. No, no, no, this is all true but it’s a well known acknowledged fact, therefore not the reason why I write this - idk what it is - let’s say a shitpost that nobody’s gonna read anyway.
What I think brings up the greatness of this show and helps keeping it alive the most, is fanfiction. Yes, due to fanfiction we can enjoy the lives of these characters (mainly Beckett and Castle ofc) in a way that the show itself could never provide us. Some of these talented authors have created amazing expanded worlds for this beloved couple or a completely new AUs which are a pleasure to explore. And by the talented authors I mean crazy talented, simply awesome ones. There are tons of writers for many different fandoms but how many of them write the quality content? Not so many, I’m afraid. But that’s not the case with Castle! I’m not saying all the stories in this fandom are good but there are many for sure. I’m confident to say that Castle fanfiction has some of the best writers who could be selling bestsellers (and maybe they are, this idk). Unfortunatelly, most of them aren’t active anymore or worse, they deleted their stories (or their work was simply removed for whatever reason) which saddens me the most. There’s nothing more frustrating than wanting to reread some fic which simply cannot be found anymore. And I’m definitely planning on rereading some of these gems again and again so maybe I should download my favourites just to be safe. Nevertheless, as long as the fanfic stories are here, the show will be alive as it’s a very necessary complement for me to enjoy the world of Richard Castle to the fullest extent.
Through this post I wanted to give appreciation and thanks to all the writers out there even if none of them will see this.

i don't think i'm going back on 4chan anytime soon
first thing i did was posting my shitty attempt at greentext
second thing i did was failing miserably at talking. someone asked if it was ever confirmed that silver is giovanni's kid and i was too autistic to talk properly
i still craved attention, so i looked through some r9k threads and found one for posting phone homescreens and assumptions about other people in the thread based on their homescreen. i posted my homescreen. someone responded with "obvious femboy". i made some shitposts on tumblr because of that.

For anyone interested in long-term residence in the supernatural fandom, please have some observations I’ve made over the decade I’ve been here. Take it or leave it as you will, but I’ve found all of this info useful over the years I’ve been here.
I wrote this yesterday, and it achieved its mission of identifying the sort of folks who would react negatively to it (i.e. a lot of block lists have been updated), so now that it’s been edited for content, it’s going under a cut (because that is how we do things on tumblr in general, unless we have a deliberate purpose for annoying readers with excessively long text posts) for the sake of people who actually do care about the fandom and its history. If that’s not you or your reason for being here, then keep on keeping on with your own thing, I guess. For those who are interested, there’s a lot of fandom resources some of us have been building for years that you might enjoy knowing about.
First off, I’ve been informed by a few friends who’ve read through this for coherency’s sake that it sort of reads like a *shakes cane from porch* fandom grandma complaint, but honestly... I earned this rocking chair and goshdangit imma rock now. So apologies for any “back in my day” vibes or faint aroma of tiger balm this post might give off. Then again, it’s loosely based on a similar post from 2012 so like... time is a flat circle anyway I guess.
1. There is no such thing as “tumblr famous,” unless you’re referring to the hilarious and delightful fic of the same name (please go read it, you will cackle). Posting Hot Takes for imaginary Clout™ on this site is kind of pointless in the long run. Sure you can post solely for the sake of stirring shit and getting notes, but the majority of the folks who do aren’t long term residents of the fandom. They’re just tourists moving through our little beach town for spring break. If you’re actually intent on moving to this corner of the fandom for an extended stay, please bother to really feel out the permanent residents and understand the culture and general mood of the neighborhood. It bears no resemblance to whatever’s going on across town where all the bars and beach parities are happening, and those loud, drunken revelers are, again, gonna disappear back to their regular lives or on to the next party eventually. That doesn’t mean the fandom is dying, it’s just evolving.
(funny how I had several comments implying that I’m just trying to keep the fandom from evolving with this post, because I sincerely do want the fandom to continue on for years to come, and that is impossible without evolution. We can evolve without self-immolating, though. mostly i included point 1 for an excuse to push ancient but hilarious fanfic on you.)
2. Once you post something here, it’s been unleashed to the fandom winds. You never know where it will end up, or who will comment on it or add to it. Remember that time Misha tweeted the link to the Epic Cockles Love Story post? No? It was wild. That was 2012. They all know we’re here, and how to find us if they want to. Please don’t take it to their doorsteps.
Obviously if someone is being a dick on your posts, please feel free to block them, but the whole entire point of this site is to engage people with your posts. Being big mad that someone reblogged your post with comments or supporting evidence, or happy headcanons or “HECK THIS IS GREAT BECAUSE (insert personal story about their experience or whatever else made them Feel Things about your post)” is frankly ridiculous. If your goal is to avoid any sort of engagement with your posts, then maybe try instagram instead. From what I understand, there is a SPN fandom presence there, and nobody can tarnish your original posts with unwanted commentary. But the ability to reblog with additional commentary is a FEATURE of tumblr that builds community through conversation. Otherwise we’re all just talking to ourselves in a vacuum, and that’s what actually kills fandoms.
(and for the folks who just want to blog how they want to blog and don’t want people to engage on their posts at all, please feel free to block anyone you want, as well... nobody wants to step on your toes, but most of us also don’t want to walk on eggshells wondering if this post is one of the “do not add comments for any reason” sorts of posts, either. This is a huge fandom and most people can’t even begin to keep track of every creator and their url du jour, and what their personal rules might be regarding interaction with their content. Including a “please don’t add comments” note at the bottom of your posts-- and not in your tags that won’t even show up on reblogs, but in the actual body of the post-- would sincerely help avoid any awkward or unwanted interactions, too. At the end of the day, you are in control of your own fandom experience and the block button exists.
For the record, I block zero fandom blogs (which is why I posted this, I wanted it to reach a wide scope... refer to the opening paragraphs as to why).
3. Since this post was partly inspired by a tag I left on that post going around about how “previous tags” mean fuckall on this site (which you can read here), just a reminder that if you like someone’s tags or feel they add value to the post, part of the Peer Review structure of tumblr encourages you to PASTE THEM INTO A REBLOG. If you do this, then at least credit the person who actually wrote the tags! Don’t just copy someone else’s tags into your tags on your reblog of the post without credit either. They were not YOUR tags. (I have had this happen to tag rambles I wrote and someone else got credited with them on a subsequent reblog and it is FRUSTRATING). Just... don’t even bother to write “previous tags” because WHAT PREVIOUS TAGS?! Nobody is gonna bother to chase back the chain of reblogs trying to find where the mystery tags came from, friendos. That way lies madness.
(for the record, since some folks seemed to focus on this point solely, writing “previous tags” on a post isn’t inherently a BAD thing, but for anyone who actually is here for more than one-off shitposting, then it’s sort of a pointless thing in the long run. This wasn’t intended to suggest people who ARE here for one-off shitposting are bad or “doing it wrong,” but for people who might actually want to preserve that hilarious joke or insightful comment. People delete posts and entire blogs all the time around here. Links break. I get that the upcoming generation just shrugs at that and moves on with their lives, but heck... you don’t have to accept that all entertainment is disposable if you don’t want to. There’s a bizarre sort of nihilism plaguing us all about the impermanence of pretty much everything that feels like something we should be fighting against rather than buying into wholesale, even in our escapist entertainment. I’m just exhausted by the complete loss of joy in community.
*shouts from the peanut gallery* IT AIN’T THAT DEEP, JUST GET SOME FRESH AIR AND LOOK AT A PUPPY OR SOMETHING
Yes... yes it isn’t really that deep, but bigger picture in the state of reality we’re all entirely disillusioned with, are we supposed to just give up on everything, including the things we cling to because they bring us a tiny spark of hope that we’re not all just trapped in this dystopian nightmare and things might actually be worth living for?
*peanut gallery clinging to burnt husks of peanuts in a barren peanut field* but this is how we have chosen to cope
Okay... you do you... I feel bad for you but if that’s the case then this post is NOT FOR YOU. AND THAT’S FINE. I honestly do not care if you don’t care! I mean, I’m sorry anyone has to live in a world that drives them to that mindset, but I understand. This post is for anyone who might look at their lives and their choices and think “no wait, I unironically enjoy this and want more from the experience of that enjoyment than I’m currently feeling.” Everyone else can continue with their lives as usual.)
4. CONTENT THEFT IS NEVER OKAY. PERIOD. Things like “credit to the artist” or tagging gifs or images you found on pinterest as “not mine” isn’t actually credit. If you can’t source an image or gif set, DO NOT POST IT! We don’t REPOST (i.e. save an image and then create a new post with it as if it was our own creation). We REBLOG (click the little square arrows and reblog from the actual creator). That goes for gif sets, fanvids, screencaps, meta, fic... everything.
(hopefully everyone here already understands this one, but I felt compelled to include some “these are stupidly obvious” reminders anyway, since this is ostensibly some sort of advice column. This is the equivalent of the warning label on your toaster reminding you not to use it in the bath. Like... duh...)
5. Close kin of item 4 is SOURCE YOUR SHIT.
(for 100% disclosure purposes, I specifically discussed this one in this specific way because of an influx of anon ask messages I received in the wake of the finale. Literally the inciting incident for creating this entire post was what I can only assume was a joking ask about a comment Misha made at a con years ago. Someone actually bothered to take the time to type out those sentences to me. I have no idea what they were expecting in reply, or what could possibly motivate them to send this comment about something so entirely random from, again, several years ago. Just a joke? No idea, but whatever... it got me thinking that there might actually be people who are new to the fandom who MIGHT actually care about the fandom history, and maybe they just don’t know where to go for that info, or how to even begin searching through 16 years of history for things they might actually find enjoyment in, rather than just hauling random out of context garbage out on main and pointing and laughing about it now. People are actually allowed to care about things. It’s not cringeworthy to actually care about things, and you are not alone in actually caring, and there’s this whole big room over here full of people who are thrilled to share in that with you. This post is intended FOR THOSE PEOPLE SPECIFICALLY, so if that is not you, please just continue walking by.)
Yes, I know lots of y’all are new around here right now, but dredging up stuff from years ago that fandom has completely debunked and presenting it as TRU FAX again is just exhausting. We’re not trying to be party poopers, but seriously, we have seen it all and are mostly done with extinguishing bags of flaming dog poop on our front porches for the umpteenth year in a row. I’ve seen a lot of posts that have the same tone as “I saw Goody Proctor dancing with the devil” or “I heard kylo ren has an eight pack” and just... the information is there for anyone who cares enough to find it.
This goes double for “why is nobody talking about this thing I just discovered while watching the show for the first time?!” And, oh hon, we have talked it all into the ground over the last fifteen years. We’re happy you’re discovering it again, but I promise we talked about it plenty when the episodes originally aired. We have such a rich meta history that lots of us have worked really hard to preserve. I encourage you to seek it out, if nothing else than as historical artifacts. The way we have discussed the show has been a 16-year evolution. People have written literal doctoral dissertations on this show. Your shitposts are fun! We love reliving our own experience through fresh eyes, and seeing your wonder at experiencing it all again for the first time! But y’all didn’t invent this fandom in the last six months, either.

for all your art sourcing needs, please see @theroadsofararchive, the repository for so much fandom art.
need to find a gif of something? canonspngifs is a vast repository of gifsets of the entire series. If the gif you want to use in your post happens to be the first gif in the gifset, in the tumblr gif finder thingy just paste the permalink to that post from canonspngifs (which is easily searchable by episode, character, location, situation, quotes, and sometimes even color and clothing items the actors are wearing... it’s really well organized, especially for tumblr >.>) and the first gif will be automatically linked with credit to the gif creator attached. It makes life easy that way. It’s also convenient when trying to remember something specific but can’t remember what episode it’s from. I’ve used the site to jog my memory before going to the superwiki armed with more specific search results to find episode quotes and references. Or sometimes I just scroll through all the nice gifs for fun, too.
Need a screencap of something and know exactly which episode it’s from? Try Home of the Nutty. You might not find the exact screencap you’re looking for, but they have a complete set of caps of every episode, and it’s an incredibly useful resource for quick reference checks and the like. Just give pages a chance to fully load before clicking on the next one. The site is easily overloaded, but it’s still free to use (and again, with credit... Pretty much every screencap on my entire blog is from HotN unless otherwise credited).
As you can see, this is a fandom built on preserving our history. You absolutely are not required to engage with any of this if that’s not of interest to you, but I can only assume that there are people who would be interested in it if only they knew it existed and how to find it. Well, now they do.
6. A few more notes on tags, and how they work on tumblr. The first 20 tags on your ORIGINAL posts are searchable sitewide, so if you want to be able to find something again, tag that thing first before going on general tag rambles. The only place tags on reblogs are searchable is on your own blog. So you don’t have to put 50 tags trying to get a post seen if it’s a reblog. You’re just spitting into the wind at that point. If you have a filing system for finding things again, then by all means add those tags (again, in the first 20, so they’re searchable), but you don’t need to tag a reblog “destiel” and “deancas” and “dean” and “cas” and “dean x cas” or whatever. Pick one for your personal blog’s filing system, that’s all you need.
(this was only added because tagging and searching on this site is so very broken... I get that a lot of folks don’t care about ever searching their own blogs again for anything, so this one only really applies if you do often find yourself trying to find old posts. If not, then it’s not really relevant.  It took me years to work out a decent tagging system, and at the beginning of my time here I never thought I’d end up camping out here for a decade and falling this deep into the fandom, and I regretted my lack of consistent tags only years later when I realized I actually wanted to be able to go back and find specific old posts again. So... for anyone who wants to err on the side of caution, working out a sensible tagging system really helps if you’re here for the long term. I personally tag content by episode, because some of my other general tags are so large as to be practically useless as a search term. But whatever system you choose to file stuff on your own blog, it really only has to make sense to you. And again, if this is pointless advice for someone who has no intention of settling here for the long term. Please feel free to ignore it. I just wish someone had explained it this way to me ten years ago and saved me the hassle of retroactively tagging something like 30k posts... especially now that using the mass tag replacer is the fastest way to get your entire blog deleted... oops? so yeah, don’t use the mass tag replacer either >.>)
7. Tags on Tumblr DO NOT WORK LIKE TAGS ON TWITTER. If you @ someone in the body of the post, it will show up in their notifications (if they’re the sort of person who even checks their notifications... not all of us do. For the record, I generally don’t...), but putting actor or ship names in the tags on a tumblr post does absolutely nothing. It’s not the same as tagging the actor’s twitter account in a tweet. Nobody’s getting notifications about you tagging a post about Jensen here as “Jensen Ackles.” There is a difference. Please learn it. (and don’t take headcanons and ESPECIALLY RPF or otherwise explicit art or fic from tumblr to twitter and tag the actors in it. That’s just... not okay.)
(I have seen the pearl clutchers getting all in a huff about the mere existence of RPF or even explicit content of fictional characters if it doesn’t meet their purity standards, but tagging those things allows people who don’t want to see it to actively avoid that content here. Nobody has a right to tell people their fictional content shouldn’t exist at all, or that creators of that fictional content somehow deserve harassment or threats for having dared to create such “immoral” content, won’t somebody PLEASE think of the children... and no... you do not do that here. Don’t be the problematic behavior you wish to ban from the world. Learn to use tags to protect yourself from, as i have attempted to emphasize here, fictional content you are personally upset by. That’s a you problem, not a problem for the creators of potentially upsetting content that they tag appropriately for.)
8. General formatting stuff: If you’re writing long text posts, visually break them up so people aren’t faced with one long wall of text. The enter key is your friend. Also, if you put long text posts under a Read More break and send people to your blog to finish reading, please ensure that your blog is actually visually accessible (tiny text, or light grey text on a dark grey background, or a visually busy background might be aesthetically pleasing to you but nobody can actually read it. Loads of folks won’t even try. Which is great if you don’t actually care whether people are able to appreciate your content or not, but something to at least consider if you *do* actively want to encourage engagement with your work. Confirm how your blog looks on both mobile and desktop and make sure it’s actually functional in both, too).
And since I mentioned that most of my experience on fandom tumblr has been in the SPN fandom, here’s a bit of a reminder for folks who are new around here. With the reminder that I have been here more than a decade and still feel like a newbie myself sometimes...
This is an OLD FANDOM. There are many, many people who have been at this longer than some of you have been alive. The average age for creators in this fandom is older than you think (I think of my friends in their 30′s as young’ins okay? okay). With that understood, you are responsible for the content you consume and are exposed to. Curate your experience. Ship and let ship. YKINMKATOK. Don’t deliberately expose yourself to content you find upsetting for whatever reason. Tags and warnings are your friends, not targets for you to attack in some sort of purity war. People will ship things you do not like (or in specific ways you do not like), will say things you do not agree with, and will find their happiness in things you abhor. That is not your concern. Find what you do like, and support and engage with it, and ignore (or block, or unfollow) the rest. Tumblr has a feature that lets you blacklist tags so the content you’re trying to avoid won’t appear on your dash.
Remember the paradox of tolerance.
It is not your job in fandom to police how other people enjoy the fandom. It’s not *my* job to police how *you* enjoy the fandom, UNLESS your enjoyment is in actively harming other real human beings in the fandom. If you don’t like their take on the character or the show or the plotlines or their ships or anything else, you don’t need to engage with their posts at all! The necessary corollary to this is that clarifying misunderstandings or correcting factual misinformation is not “policing.”
(this is where the peanut gallery reminds me it ain’t that deep, and I plead with them to put down the social media and find just one (1) thing to actually believe in in this godforsaken life, find something other than disdain and cynicism and spite to live for. If those things motivate you to find a larger cause for yourself, then great, use them to your advantage, but use them to find something that makes you a better person or brings you a modicum of joy and connection to your fellow human beings despite living in a dystopian hellscape of a world)
I have seen a lot of posts lately that are founded on the sort of authority that comes with “I watched through tumblr for a few months and then watched the last three episodes of the series” and as such are just... missing the larger context of the entire show, and are unfounded entirely in canon. I 100% appreciate the new enthusiasm for the fandom that we’ve been living in here for years, and it’s wonderful to see new people enjoying the thing we love. Your headcanons are valid, you are valid, but recognize that your headcanons aren’t canon. All of us finale denialists have accepted this in some measure, so we feel you. We truly, truly feel you. But regarding actual canon, we have a resource for that: the Superwiki. Learn it, live it, love it, as Metatron would say.
(which you could discover he said in 10.17 Inside Man, thanks to the superwiki! accept no substitutes!)
(and again, there have been people who have been involved in fandom for years who haven’t engaged with canon in years, either! You can play in this universe however you choose, BUT FOR PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT CANON AT ALL, WHICH I AM AGAIN POINTEDLY SAYING MIGHT NOT BE YOU, READER, AND I’M NOT SUGGESTING YOU ARE WRONG FOR NOT WANTING TO ACTUALLY ENGAGE WITH CANON, but if you DO want to engage with canon, please have some useful resources. Why do people feel personally attacked by being presented a list of helpful resources? Absolutely baffling.)
(also: words have definitions. “Canon” is a specific thing, meaning in this case “the finished media product that aired on television.” Anything beyond those limits is secondary canon (think: john’s journal, which is not canon but canon adjacent at best...), word of god (i.e stuff said by the writers and showrunners), or headcanon (which includes actor commentary-- they may have helped create the show with their acting choices and whatever, but they are not in control of the story overall). If there’s something you dislike about actual canon, you can reject it and supplement it with your own theories or preferred outcomes-- that’s basically what fanfic is-- but that doesn’t make your theories canon (much to all our dismay, that’s just not how any of this works. This is not to invalidate how anyone engages with the show or the fandom, just trying to clarify what seems to have been a source of unintentional misunderstandings. Your theories do not have to be “canon” to be legitimate interpretations.)
***I am setting this section apart, and did make a separate post of just this following information, because this is where we go from being relatively chill about different parts of fandom choosing to interact in different ways and you do you and blog however you want, to “hey can everybody please understand that the way you are interacting with this specific material might be harmful for specific legal reasons, and stating that you do not care about the consequences of your actions does actively make you the asshole here...” Okay, now that we have that understood:
The spnscripthunt collective has been steadily acquiring new scripts (which are posted in full on the superwiki for everyone to enjoy, for free). The language around how some folks are talking about these scripts is... concerning. For very real legal reasons, actually, and not because we’re feeling precious about the collection and don’t wike it when meanies use them in shitposts.
-First off, these scripts are not “leaks.” They are all verified and legally purchased (or gifted, in some cases, but still acquired entirely above board. we didn’t whack anyone over the head in a back alley for these scripts, or swipe them out of someone’s trailer on set).
(in case anyone was unaware, these scripts are the copywritten protected property of Warner Brothers. So yes, how we use them and share them with the fandom could have legal repercussions. We present them as a collected resource of fandom history which SHOULD fall under Fair Use doctrine, but this is untested legal water. Insinuating that the scripts are somehow not entirely legally obtained, or that posting them for public access involved less than 100% transparent and entirely legal transactions is incredibly concerning.
Once again for the peanut gallery, if you dont care about any of that and are just having a good time with it, at least be mindful of the work and expense a large group of people have gone through to acquire and present the content you’re all too eager to exploit for cheap thrills. Some of us do actually care and are not exactly comfortable with the fact that others don’t seem to care about burning it all to the ground. We can’t force you to listen or behave as we’d hope you might, but at least be aware of the potential consequences of your actions. All we’re asking is for you to not be the douchebag who sets the whole neighborhood on fire with your illegal fireworks display. Is that too much to ask for? more on that in a second, first... a psa)
-If you see a script for sale and are unsure if it’s legit (or believe it might already be freely available in our collection), please feel free to ask us for advice. Our goal is to make as much of our fandom history available to the entire fandom, and we absolutely do not want anyone shelling out money for stuff you can already find for free.
(seriously, we’ve seen a bunch of resellers cropping up selling printed versions of the scripts we bought and uploaded for everyone to enjoy free of charge, or scripts that are otherwise of dubious origin. We’ve been at this for years now and know what’s actually out there. We don’t want anyone to fall for a scam if we can help it)
-Also, the usual reminder that the scripts we acquire ARE NOT NECESSARILY THE FINAL SHOOTING DRAFTS. In fact, the majority of scripts in our collection are NOT. Changes are made daily to scripts, even during filming. Comparing a Production Draft (white pages, effectively the first “final draft” of what usually becomes a series of drafts before filming wraps) to a much later revision (say... green or goldenrod revisions, several of which we DO have in our collection for comparison) and how those earlier drafts often differ wildly from the aired version versus how similar a much later green draft is to the aired version, for example, can teach you a lot about the television writing process. The link above to the superwiki scripts page has a nice little explainer about how this process works.
Differences between our posted scripts (many of which are white drafts, aka FIRST complete drafts, which will likely go through multiple rounds of revisions before filming even begins) and the aired version of the show are not all “acting choices” or a director or editor just cutting whole scenes on a whim. It’s insulting to everyone involved in production to suggest that’s the case.
(and yeah, fine... whatever, make any sort of posts you like regarding how those changes came about, but at the very least understand that it’s not actually the truth about how any of this works. Don’t care that that’s not the truth and want to make the posts anyway because shitposting is fun and that’s the extent of your sense of humor? FINE! You’re entitled to do that! But at least you DO know the truth now, and hopefully so do the people who engage with your posts. Deliberate ignorance isn’t cute, smooth lions notwithstanding)
There’s probably a whole other post to be made on fandom tagging etiquette, but again I don’t really use the tags enough to know what’s going on with that whole situation. I’ve also probably left a lot of stuff out, so please feel free to add things I’ve overlooked.
Thanks also to @trisscar368 and @thayerkerbasy for help compiling this, too. They were kind enough to escort me through the park to feed these pigeons. Now I need to take them out for ice cream. :’D
So I guess welcome to the neighborhood. Make yourself at home, but like... try not to trash the place while you’re here. Some of us live here by choice, lol.

Funky idea i just had- this is a long one
Saiouma au in a world where everyone has a power, no exceptions.
in this world, the way powers work is they're powered by a special energy that the body produces. it acts different depending on what kind of power the person possess, but just about any power can be categorized into a specific behavior based on how much of it an individual's body can produce.
Some people generate alot of it and so they develop powers designed to release this energy in strong power bursts (fire, electricity, wind, etc). Some produce it alot slower and in order to maintain enough to frequently use it their powers develop to act like light or sound waves, bounching off things and returning with information to the user (mind readng, echo location, etc). then there's a balanced state of energy prodution, people who can produce just the right abount of this energy often end up with more wildcard powers; having too little to despose of in bursts but too much to reuse without having too much in their systems, their bodies often end up using the energy in more creative ways (telekinesis, healing, shapeshifting, other random shit.)
(Now we get to the saiouma bit)
When Shuichi met Kokichi his first day of highschool, he noticed the trickster's powers had the obvious traits of someone with an overabundance of power energy. That morning he picked a fight with Kaito- who had telekinesis- and got to show off his power by practically sending Kaito flying across the classroom with a single punch before he even had the chance to react. He had the abiltiy to charge any hand to hand or melee attacks with excess energy, giving them a serious extra kick.
And it seemed all fine and dandy despite how the power had been showcased to the class, but Shuichi hit a massive snag with Kokichi not much more than a week later. Kokichi was a lair, everyone knew that, but who better to see right through him than Shuichi right? Shuichi had pretty low energy generation, and as such he developed the power of hyper analyzation; he'd send little burst of energy to a target and at the speed of light they came back to him with the littlest of details about the target's pysical condition and body language. So of course Shuichi would be exceptional at breaking down the lair, right?
Shuichi could not read Kokichi. He just couldn't. not only did the trickster not have any tells that somone without his power could catch, but everytime he tried to use his power on him the sent out energy never returned, efectivey making his power weaker faster than overusing his power ever did. He'd never seen anything like that before, and when he tried to search for it online he turned up absoulty nothing- even the most obsucre and rare powers had at least some sort of vauge shitpost about them on tumblr or something. This just didn't make any damn sense.
Despite knowing Kokichi wasn't going to give him any straight answer, he tried to confornt him about it anyways. Upon asking Kokichi had seemed to tense up while claiming he had no clue what he was talking about, Shuichi noting that was the first ever time he'd displayed a tell. however, if the emotion he felt was strong enough to evoke a tell from him of all people; it defiantly meant this was a touchy subject for him, and said touchiness would likely make it harder than normal to get any info out of him.
Through alot of barganing and mind games, Shuichi eventually got it out of Kokichi that he did indeed know what was going on, but he'd made it clear he wasn't going to just give him the explanation. No, Kokichi had to make it a game. Kokichi told Shuichi he'd give him one mind game each day to play, and if he won he'd be rewarded with a hint for the info he wants. Just like Kokichi to make a mind game out of several smaller mindgames. Supposedly this would eventually lead him to solve the mystery behind Kokichi's immunity to his power.
So the game began. each day at lunch Shuichi would go to hang out with Kokichi at his prefered lunch spot, the roof, and would spend the whole period going back and forth with him till he either solved it or ran out of time as the end of lunch bell rang his defeat. Over time he ended up getting a few random peices of information that to his dismay- despite knowing he should have seen it coming- were crytpic and practically riddles of their own. he wrote the few he'd gotten down to decode later, but the more this went on the more he noticed how desperate Kokichi seemed to keep him away from the truth. Shuichi wondered for a moment if Kokichi might have even been scared of whatever this truth was.
During this, Shuichi started to find himself simply enjoying Kokichi's company, sometimes forgetting what he was there for. he was such an interesting guy, how could he not warm up to the playful yet crytpic behavior he paraded around. sometimes Shuichi ended up not even bothering with the mind game, opting to just talk with Kokichi and enjoy his presence. This avoidance of the game on his own part became more frequent after how desperatly Kokichi was trying to hide the truth started to sink in. He didn't want to make him upset, he just wanted to understsand what was going on, so of course he started to ease up on pushing the deal they made when Kokichi desplayed distress.
With more of his time with the trickster becoming causal instead of compettitve, Shuichi's enjoyment of Kokichi's company began to bloom into a crush. The more he fell for Kokichi however, the less he wanted to push the mind games, which at first sounded like a good thing to him- not forcing the guy he now loved to admit to something he was clearly scared of. But to his surpise Kokichi actually called him out on neglecting the deal one day, sounding almost upset he wasn't trying anymore.
While careful to avoid the part where he fell face first into love with him, Shuichi explained that he stopped cause he thought it was stressing Kokichi out. This got a whole dramatic act out of Kokichi where he declared Shuichi was so mean for leading him on, making him think someone actually cared about his "poor pittiful curse" and how woe is he, he can't directly explain it lest he explodes into a million peices and dies for a third time.
Shuichi couldn't help but laugh at the theatrics, promising he'll get back to their game now he's been comforted by the declaration of desire to open up. It still wasn't a daily thing like it had started out as, as Shuichi did want to spend time just relaxing with Kokichi, but it was much more frequent than it had been.
Eventually Shuichi finally figures out what's going on with Kokichi; from the looks of it he had a power defect that no one really believed was real. It wasn't like scientists hadn't prove it could happen, but because it was so uncommon people treated it as a myth. What was it exactly? Kokichi couldn't produce his own power energy, and as results if anyone tried to use their power on him his body would absorb it to fule his own power, efectivly rendering their power mostly useless against him (he could still get hurt, but nowhere near as bad as his body absorbs most of the blow's energy) . It created a circumstance where if someone wanted to fight him they'd be forced to use their fists or a phsyical weapon to deal any good damage without giving him amunition.
When he confronted Kokichi about it, he seemed pretty bittersweet about the reveal, asking him almost inaudibly if he was okay with him bring like that. Shuichi felt heart broken by that question, it made it sound like Kokichi had some bad results from revealing his defect to others. He sat down next to the trickster and comforted him asking to elaborate on why he wouldn't be okay with him. Turns out Kokichi had alot on his chest about this and after being hugged so reassuringly by Shuichi, he broke down sobbing in his arms. Through the sobs he confessed he hadn't always hidden the defect, and actually was quite open about it when he was young.
The reason he stopped and began to hide it was because of the relentless bullying he went through; some kids growing up ran away from him screaming about how he was out to steal their powers, and the more agressive kids would gang up and actively force their own energy onto him till he couldn't take any more in and their poweres would actually start to have normal effects on him. He stopped telling people when he moved schools halfway through middleschool, and the pain stopped. If he wanted to have his power charged up he had to descretly make physical contact with others in careful intakes so he wouldn't start to feel sick thanks to the PTSD the bullying had given him in regards to taking in larger doses of energy.
Shuichi himself felt sick at the thought of how awful it must have felt to have gone through that, holding Kokichi a bit tighter snd letting him calm down in his embrase. Once he'd calmed down enough, Shuichi asked him one more question, that being "if you're so scared of telling people because of that- why did you push me to figure it out?". to that, Kokichi shakily admited he trusted Shuichi, as he was the most understanding person he ever met- and while he still was worried about it, he was willing to take the risk for his beloved.
Shuichi didn't admit his love for Kokichi until months after that, but his love still shined through when Kokichi needed it most- helping him when his energy started to freak him out, or helping him not get caught by others- and to that Kokichi apreciated it greatly, almost overexcitedly suggesting they tried dating upon Shuichi's confession

A meta about Buck and Eddie’s current relationships compared to their past relationships (but it's under a cut so that I don’t have to tag the characters for people who have them blocked, thereby putting this into those characters’ Tumblr-wide tags and summoning angry stans back to my inbox)
Because I haven’t seen anyone else mention this and it’s sort of been driving me nuts. On the one hand there’s a relationship where it’s:
someone he was previously with and this is a renewal of what might have been
someone who he has serious sexual chemistry with but a blatant emotional disconnect
who he separated from and time (roughly two years) has passed during which interim there has been no contact between them
and now they’re trying it again and although he clearly forgives her for past transgressions he still doesn’t trust her when it comes to the most important things, even if he's enjoying spending time with her to a certain extent
but he’s decided to have her back in his life after some negotiation which definitely included her saying at least one excoriating thing against his character that cut directly to the heart of his insecurities that made him feel like he'd failed and needed to do better ("I needed you to have my back" vs "You're so needy")
And when it was Eddie and Shannon, the resolution of that relationship was Eddie deciding that he wanted to try and make it work, build a family and a future together, only for Shannon to bail on him (again). And obviously we haven’t seen the end of Buck and Taylor but based on everything we’ve seen about Buck’s development and growth, it seems pretty clear that what he’s looking for in the long run is to build a family and a future, most likely with children.
Now, we don’t know enough about Taylor to know how she feels about that sort of future trajectory but based on the very little we do know about her, I would hazard that this sort of future seems…unlikely as something she might want.
And obviously, the relationships came about in different circumstances, but the structure of season 4 Bucktaylor versus season 2 Eddie and Shannon feels like a funhouse mirror to me.
And then on the other hand, there’s a relationship where:
It starts after they met once a while ago
With a person who is also presented as a contrast and possibly a more reasonable choice than the other relationship mentioned above (“Ali’s a more grown up and less wild choice than Taylor” vs “such a healthy choice moving on from Shannon with Ana”)
Which begins with a coffee date
And which is all the development we really get in the relationship until an episode that seriously implies doom ahead
And ends with him getting severely whumped
with her there for the initial homecoming
But there’s something kinda off about that homecoming (Ali being unsure the firefighter lifestyle is for her; Eddie kissing Ana on the cheek the same way he kissed his grandmother?? Like my dude my guy there are perfectly acceptable chaste and polite ways to kiss someone on the mouth if you’re worried about scandalising the Youths or the Elders and that ain’t one of ‘em)
And the resolution of that relationship is that Ali was gone without ever officially saying the words “we should break up” before the next season began, and based on behind the scenes sleuthing while it seems like we will see Ana at least once at the start of season 5, it doesn’t seem to be a significant presence.
And idk!! I don’t know what to do with this, but like it seems really obvious to me that in a structural way, Taylor is Buck’s Shannon and Ana is Eddie’s Ali, even while the characters of Taylor and Shannon don't really resemble each other (and I'd argue we don't actually know enough about either Ana or Ali to say how alike or different they were/are, but they don't strike me as similar people), and I hope the boys both get the same as things out of these relationships as the other did -- just with better resolutions.
I want Buck to be in this relationship and evaluate what he wants from his future the way Eddie figured out he wanted to try being in a family, but I want him to have the opportunity Eddie didn’t and I want him to come to the conclusion that if he wants that future, it’s not going to be with Taylor because that’s just not who she is. And I want him to get the opportunity to end it on his terms in the way Eddie never got to.
And I want Eddie to — god I’m sorry this somehow circles back around to my entire shitpost about getting back on the horse/learning you don’t like horses — but I want him to acknowledge that his relationship with Ana, while important for his growth and for moving on after the traumatic end of the most significant relationship he’d had before, simply doesn’t go beyond that. It’s a relationship and it’s “nice” and “easy” but it’s not where his heart is and even though ending a relationship always hurts a little, it won’t devastate him. But most importantly, I want him to get to acknowledge that he’s choosing what he wants, which Buck sort of didn’t get to do with Ali because she made that choice for him.
And then, because I’m me, once they’ve gone through each other’s relationship mistakes and hopefully learned from each other’s example how to do it better, I want them to embark, nervously but so glad to be doing it, on something new and untried together.
ETA: Eddie and Ana’s first date was explicitly not coffee, but it had the same vibe as Buck and Ali’s first (coffee) date in that it was a casual café setting and we know nothing of it after the initial “its nice we’re doing this right?”
ETA(2): Both Shannon and Taylor have “changed” when they’re brought in to be love interests in season 2 and 4 respectively but Shannon’s change ultimately turned out to be insufficient for building their relationship forward. We have yet to see how deep Taylor’s apparent change runs and it’s clear that so far Buck does not trust it.

I got tagged by @jouglat to do this tag game! thanks bev :)
1. why did you choose your url: I feel like this one is one that people want to know because it’s not immediately obvious but I never get around to it lol…well here it is! you guys know those advertisements tv stations have for their shows and it’s like “today at 9”, “tomorrow at 2”? yeah that’s what my URL is based off of lol I specifically thought of ads for news programs for mine. why is it six? i just thought it had a nice ring to it and hey it applies during the winter so…my original layout had a technical difficulties slide as my header so it was probably more obvious back then
2. any sideblogs? nope! I’ve thought about making ask blogs like the good ol days but it’s always fleeting
3. how long have you been on tumblr: since December 10th, 2020 it looks like…I’ve known about tumblr and browsed it without a blog for longer than that though, I’d say since 2012
4. why did you originally start your blog: to be a part of jackbox tumblr! and to post art, and reblog/like posts that I enjoyed so I could get to them easier
5. why did you choose your icon: jonah with the wavy brown hair is me. i feel it in my soul (plus I just think he’s cute) /lh
6. why did you choose your header: joelnah forever babeyyyyy
7. what’s your post with the most notes: Right now it’s the one with all the wallpapers from the Bring Back MST3K kickstarter campaign that I got from the mst3k index (I’m still disappointed it doesn’t work anymore…)
8. how many mutuals do you have: 44 (not counting other blogs that they have)
9. how many followers do you have: 70
10. how many blogs do you follow: 454
11. have you ever made a shitpost: several lol
12. how many times do you use tumblr a day: depends, I have notifications on for some of my mutuals (so if you see me immediately like/reblog/comment on your post that’s why lol) so probably like maybe 10-20 times usually, mostly just to check on what my mutuals post
13. have you ever fought another blog: no, I block if they bother me a lot
14. how do you feel about “need to reblog” posts: I think if they’re silly enough it’s fine to reblog but I don’t want to cause anyone any stress so I usually don’t do it
15. do you like tag games: yea
16. do you like ask games: yes!
17. which of your mutuals do you think are tumblr famous: I don’t know if any of them are famous in particular - bev said on its post that it has about 1000 followers and that’s a lot more than mine so…
18. do you have a crush on a mutual: my partner is mutuals with me on here but they barely use their tumblr so I doubt they’d mind if I tagged them @snailcruncher (hi rid lol)
19. tags: @solarconnor , @b0n3-h34d , @pencil-amateur , @bencan-t , @ussdefiant , @aviatorcannibal , @bpdraiden , @vinben and anybody who wants to do it!

Chuck has been obsessed with one sibling betraying and killing the other sibling for every iteration of his story because he is trying to live out his own drama and validate himself, so he can believe that he did the right thing with Amara. but he didn't.
Which is why he makes up false propaganda for metatron

If Castiel was planning a date
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“I think if Castiel were planning a date he would um he would endeavor to make a romantic dinner of some sort even though he um he really has never cooked to speak of and he would put a great deal of effort into it.  He would google. He would find a recipe, he would make something, ... it would be a fiasco. I think the presentation might be nice and then there would be this awkward interlude which would be the meal itself during which Castiel’s date would eat or choke down whatever it was that he made and Castiel himself of course a non eater would simply watch. ...  lecherously. [eyebrows]  There you go”   (x)

Nothing will ever be as funny to me as the fact that society progressed so far in the time since 2005 that the demeaning homophobic jokes of vintage spn are now read as obvious signs of Dean Winchester's bisexuality. They tried so hard to make the cowboy-based-on-a-bisexual-man straight that they accidentally manifested thee accurate long form portrayal of a closeted bisexual man on television. BiCon.

Do you have a theory about what drama befell Homestuck 2, or if there was any drama at all to cause it to seemingly go down?
I had no clue, but Andrew Hussie posted his explanation on Patreon, which is a public post so I’ll just quote the whole thing here:
Homestuck^2 is going to be completed, but the Patreon will not be charging patrons anymore. The account will be frozen and no additional patrons will be accepted, but the ones currently registered are welcome to stay and receive notifications about the future of this project if the team is inclined to post any.
The plan now is to have HS^2 finished, but without a regular update schedule. Previously saved Patreon funds will be used to privately commission the team to finish the story. It will all be posted at once when it is finished, and there will be no updates until this happens. I expect that it will take a long time to finish the story. This is because I am specifically instructing the team to work slowly.
I originally agreed to let this project move forward entirely based on the presumption that it would be an enjoyable experience for the team involved. It's not like I had a burning need to release a continuation of the narrative, or a formal "sequel", which is never how I viewed this arc. The project mostly came about because I picked up on the enthusiasm the original creative group had for the idea, and I also sensed that energy was being reciprocated by the particular state of the fandom at the time. But since then I've observed it's been pretty far from an enjoyable experience for the team due to the way the members have been treated by large segments of the fandom, and this pattern appeared to surface almost immediately after the project launched.
This put me in a state of conflict about the project ever since, because I like the content quite a bit. Some have lamented that it doesn't feel much like the original series, but it was never supposed to. I've never once invited anyone to work on a Homestuck project with the hope they would perfectly clone my style or approach to making content. I feel that is neither possible nor desirable. So any time I invite anyone the only real standard I want them to meet is to bring their own voice and perspective to the work even if, or sometimes especially, this results in significant departures from the expectations for the characters fans typically have. Like pretty much everything else that's been released over the last few years, I think HS^2 has satisfied that purpose very well.
So there has been conflict between liking what's being done, not wanting to waste the work or disappoint those who enjoy it, and the chronic abusive treatment the staff has received while trying to work on this story. I admit I've been at a loss on how to handle this, so I've just let it ride for a year or so. To some extent it's part of any project like this, to put stuff out there and receive criticism, and I'm sure the team understood that. But I think there's a line where criticism crosses over into more abusive expressions, and I've observed this has happened way too often.
If it were just me making it, I don't think it would even occur to me to have a problem with it, because I'm so used to wild stuff coming at me from doing this for many years prior. I view attitudes toward me very differently than those I invite for collaboration. I've done this so long hostility toward me barely even registers. If I inexplicably log onto tumblr appearing to resemble some sort of extravagant clown, make a few shitposts, and I'm met with literally thousands upon thousands of comments about feet, it's pretty easy to laugh it off because that's exactly the type of stupid shit I expected to see. I've just always worked with those types of contentious interactions in a way that is inseparable from whatever strange performance is connected with the content I happen to be making at the time. But it's a very different situation when I see stuff directed at the people I work with.
The things I see that my co-creators and friends have to read are a lot more alarming. One major problem here is the people I work with are mostly women, many are transgender, many are people of color. So the stuff they get is especially vicious, because the people giving them shit usually target the sensitive features of their identities in ways they don't with me. And I'm not just talking about obvious stuff like calling them slurs or anything. It's more that I've noticed people have clever ways of using people's identities to bully them in less conspicuously bigoted ways. They always go a little harder, a little more critical, manufacturing ways of blaming them for things they had nothing to do with. Stuff you start noticing when you've seen way too much of it. Much of this stuff even crosses into physically threatening territory. Some people I work with get multiple threats every week, and it's just become a routine part of their lives while being involved with Homestuck. All the above treatment I'm referring to is not focused on a couple  people, it covers everyone contributing to the full range of Homestuck projects over the last several years.
And I don't think that's what contributors were signing up for, or at least, I never wanted anyone who takes on official work to feel like it's an essential cost of participation. But I've never really known what to do about this, because it's very difficult to control fandom behavior, and if you ever try to police anyone's conduct it usually just backfires. The worst offenders out there almost see it as a challenge to go harder. So usually I leave these things alone, since the only alternative is pulling the plug on certain projects. Which is essentially what I'm doing here, while taking steps to make sure it gets finished in the background, because I really don't want to see the work wasted.
My only criteria for the completion of HS^2 is that whoever is involved the rest of the way just has a good time with it, and ends up feeling like they have made a good story. If the team is happy with it, then so am I, and nothing else about it matters to me. Especially not sticking to a schedule or satisfying fandom demands, whatever those even are at this point.
Since this is a post appearing on the Patreon, I should say any reference to abusive fan behavior isn't including current patrons obviously. I can only assume anyone willing to donate to the project for this long would hold a very sincere attitude about supporting this project, which I greatly appreciate and I'm sure the HS^2 team does as well.
There's probably more to say about this, but I'll leave it at that for now. If there's anything to add later I may address it in an internal note to patrons (remember that if you want to remain a patron you will never be charged again). I'll consider ways to thank the patrons for hanging in there all this time and supporting the team. Maybe some free stuff. We all appreciate your support. —Andrew
