im so mad that this is a side blog account and not a main account. i started this blog when i was still relatively new to tumblr and i think i was… like. fourteen years old or something. i never thought i would continue for this long, and i never knew so many people would like the content i put out here (i have over 9k followers which is literally mind-blowing, like wow….).

because this isnt a main account, i cant respond to replies left on my posts, i cant really reply to anyone unless i reblog !! i cant even follow people with this blog, it just comes up as my main blog (which is not pjo-related… rip my failed attempts at organising my fandoms to different blogs). so my avenues of interaction with a lot of you are seriously impeded.

so i just want to say i am so thankful for all of you, i read every single person’s tags who reblog my stuff, i read all of your replies and every time im crying screaming rolling around on the ground in agony over the fact i CANT REPLY!!

i know my posts are super inconsistent these days, im glad so many are still here! i think i may change some of my content eventually (never gonna get rid of the incorrect quote stuff, i’ll just be adding some other things like pjo headcanons or analyses or something), just to spice some stuff up on here.

the pjotv sally jackson slander is so weird to me because i feel like the change from the book counterpart actually makes a lot of sense considering the situation shes put in. in the books sally is this nurturing, generous, and self sacrificing mother. the ideal mother if u will. but thats not to say that she isnt like that in the show as well. she obviously cares about her kid, from his schooling, to his safety, to being preoccupied with his sense of identity before he realizes his place in the world. all in all, tv show sally seems to have the same priority as book sally: keep her son safe.

regardless, i agree that shes not the same as her book counterpart because it would be so stupid to claim otherwise. however the traits that were added onto tv sally provide a level of realism that the books didnt have. in her situation (a young poor single mother with a neurodivergent demigod kid that she isnt provided the resources to protect him other than sending him away), her stern somewhat “cold” attitude makes sense, her frustrations make sense, and i truly dont understand the disdain her actions have garnered.

#im sorry some of this discourse lowkey feels like misogyny…. like why do u expect a mom going thru an objectively hard time #to be everlastingly kind and generous and understanding. why isnt sally allowed to be a little distant when her emotions over take her #(which i would say is more indicative of her being a good mother bc shes distancing herself from the situation instead of crying in front o #a kid that is already convinced he is a problem)#and since so many of yall hate rick why dont u consider the fact that the way he wrote sally in the books was likely due to him expecting #these unattainable/unrealistic actions as something a good mother should do… but i digresss #good moms can be a little quote mean end quote lol what #pjo tv show #pjo tv crit #pjo #sally jackson

worst offender by far is this quote, which, for the record is the second most liked "quote" from the iliad on goodreads

sure this sounds beautiful but it is literally said by brad pitt's achilles as he tries to convince his spoils-of-war slave girl/love interest briseis that maybe blasphemy is ok bc actually the gods dont care and also theyre jealous that humans can die

no you're right! I was very much exaggerating Percy's general level of idk nonchalance to the situation? At least, that's how it feels when you compare the lengths Percy went through to help Nico in botl. Like after the part you quoted, Jason and Leo consider whether they should rescue Nico and Hazel gets so upset that she leaves and Percy is just largely silent through out it which just feels so out of character. It's been ages since I read hoo in its entirety, but the two of them just seem way more apathetic to each other than in pjo and I miss what their dynamic use to be.

me and my boyfriend are both pretty big pjo fans. for our first valentine together i got us a matching ring set that has wise girl and seaweed brain engraved on it. i wanted to find a passage in the books where percy and annabeth call eachother by these nicknames, so i can use it on the card, but i can't seem to find one. i don't have the time to reread every book in the series. maybe you (or someone else) could help me out? it would help me out a lot

Alr i'm gonna assume the best of newer and younger Pjo fans spreading misinfo on punk!Percy and by extension irl punk history and culture by guessing you guys aren't doing it on purpose and were just lied to about us so here's a bunch of debunks and clear ups on punk and why Percy is which also works as a sort of list of tips on how to write punk characters,canon and headcanon and completely original

So the obvious one out of the way first:Percy is actually not canonically a skater boy!There have been exactly two lines of this context in the entire franchise and one was in Som when he mentioned skateboarding once and then never again and the second was in Moa when Piper said he and i quote 'looked like a skater'.Sorry to past cishet Pipes but that's not a thing and Avril Lavigne making a cisheteronormative lyric that's extremely underservingly stuck around for forever dosen't mean she was right that he is one,it means she had internalized homophobia and gender stereotypes and no actual knowledge on alt subcultures because again,'looking like a skater' isn't a thing,it's a sport and not an aesthetic

With that,here's what actually makes Percy a punk:He was a bully beater from a young age and it escalates into full blown direct action for the whole saga,hates authority figures not for the sake of it but because he knows from experience that they're almost universally awful,is anti-corruption including his own by fighting against his intrusive thoughts to turn evil,does activism by helping fix the greco-roman mythos world system whenever he gets the chance to no matter how small,advocates for the rights of less fortunate people both mythical and human,hates rich people,fits entierly out of the box conformity in all aspects simply from the way he is even disregarding his demigohood,respects all minorities and is extremely kind to kids to the point that he adopted Nico and Hazel as his younger siblings and pseudo-kids because they don't really have parents(Hades/Pluto is abusive + Maria and Marie are dead).He fills out every punk requirement to a T,including being part of a marginalized group since he's poor and mentally disabled(audhd with dyslexia,bpd and ptsd)

He was a hero and Luke was a villain because they both hated the gods for traumatizing them and had nonpretty trauma responses from it but Percy still tried his best to stay kind not for his own sake but for his mom and the innocents in the world he knew didn't deserve cruelty and he provided and still does a safe and loving space for children specifically because he was a troubled but good kid once too and wants to be the positive adult figure for them he didn't get to have except Sally.Luke choose nihilism and that grew into turning a serial child abuser with bigoted ideals(his biggest targets being women and poc and in Kelli's case both)and fascist tactics.They weren't 'two sides of the same coin' and they're not even the same currency-Percy's a punk,Luke's a pig

Romantic attraction to someone based off them being 'ideal' by society's standards goes against punk beliefs!Our whole thing is nonconformity and that changing your true self to fit in makes you a sellout so this is why Perachel was canon and honestly i'd go as far as to call the 'outcast punk dude x perfect prep girl' a myth made up by normies who don't wanna date us for our actual personalities and just think we look hot so they objectify us.Related,it's ooc for Percy to be written to use kinds of flirting and dating treatments purely because 'it's what guys are like' since it's canon they hate traditional masculinity and consider it a burden they only force on themselves as a defense mechanism from trauma of being mocked for being 'not normal'

Ascention to godhood or into a titan inherently disquilify being punk and is an insult to irl punks.You literally can't be punk AND in control of a corrupted system,it's our lifestyle to fight them,not perpetuate them.This also applies to him dating deities,being rich in any way or an abuser.Dark Percy is Bootlicker Percy

Sorry to y'all who still think Hot Topic is a funny joke in 2024 of all years but they sold out to capitalism and conformity a loooooong time ago so Percy wouldn't be caught undead near that place and couldn't afford anything anyway because they've upped everything to rich people prices.He'd be going to thrift stores,family bussiness and small shops.Knowing how much free time he has probably knows how to DIY things that don't even exist and he buys all his games/consoles and legos secondhand

He is NOT masc or an 'i'm too cool and edgy to like cutesy and kiddy things' type.Every single trans woman i've met in the Pjo fandom have said Percy's an egg and super femme and she does too much actual punk shit instead of trying to look the part to be a poser to care about her image anymore.She loves Polly Pocket,Warrior Cats,Animal Crossing,Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends,Bluey,Blues Clues,MLP,makeup,glitter,yk2/90s/80s toys,cats,Lo-Fi Beats,Cookie Monster and her second favorite color is pink,she loves naturally acting like a momdad and her gender fuckery includes a neopronouns hoard

Would most definitely have radicalized Nico and Hazel into goth punk and pastel goth punk if Rick let them be a proper trio and speaking from experience,it's entierly possible she does it completely on accident by making them want to be like her because of how nice and protective she is to them and what cool things she does

Few last points:She's definitely a heavy energy drinks consumer,a socialist,does vandalism,did actually super heavy research to go full punk once she realized she is and would never be friends with Harry Potter and in fact would probably kill him if they met since ACAB

Im sorry but WHAT are these ancient fucking laws I keep reading about in so many percy jackson fics 😭😭 I read the books a long time ago, so I don't remember it, but I thought it was just a fanon thing to explain why the gods are neglectful?

OKAY IM REALLY GLAD YOU ASKED THIS CUZ YOU'RE NOT ALONE

ive seen so many comments in arsenic blues from ppl who believe that ALL the gods are being WILLINGLY neglectful towards their kids, and that is NOT true.

the ancient laws are a canon thing in pjo. it's been mentioned many many times, but through scattered discussion. here's a list of dialogues that talk/mention it (the quotes were taken from this helpful reddit post btw)

example 1:

"Do not judge the Lord of the Sea too harshly," the Nereid told me. “He stands at the brink of an unwanted war. He has much to occupy his time. Besides, he is forbidden to help you directly. The gods may not show such favouritism.” “Even to their own children?” “Especially to them. The gods can work by indirect influence only. That is why I give you a warning, and a gift.”

example 2:

“Permission to kill, my lady?” I couldn’t tell who she was talking to, because she kept her eyes on the manticore. The monster wailed. ‘This is not fair! Direct interference! It is against the Ancient Laws.”

example 3:

"Why show yourself now?" Luke demanded. His shoulders were tense, as if he expected a fight. "All these years I've been calling to you, praying you'd show up, and nothing. You left me with her." don't get me wrong, there are gods who couldn't care less about their kids and willingly neglect them, but it's veeeery wrong to believe that ALL the gods are like this. it's canon that gods cannot interfere in their children's lives, even if they want to. they don't neglect their kids because they don't care about them, they do it because they don't have a choice.

hermes and luke's relationship shows this perfectly. hermes IS a good dad (he's actually one of the best imo). he knew what luke's fate would be and TRIED to change it even though everyone knew it would be impossible, but he was desperate anyway because he loved his son and wanted to try and save him.

unfortunately, every attempt to change his fate always failed (because duh, can't change fate): he sent luke on a quest to "build him up as a hero" only for luke to fail and get a scar, asked percy and annabeth to save him, but they failed too (he even snapped at annabeth for failing to go with his son).

sooo yeah! like i said, there are some godly parents that willingly neglect their kids because they don't care about them, but that's not the case for every single god. there ARE gods who care about their kids, they're just forbidden to interact with them, and that means they can't raise them either.

Just to say that I can't help but love every character introduced in the first two episodes of PJO because GODS:

Annabeth is fucking awesome she has this bad bitch energy and smart-ass look and gods that's awesome, she just know what she's doing I love it

Grover and his anxious "I want to tell everything to my friend even if everyone tell me not to because I don't want to hide anything from him anymore" energy is *chief kiss* plus he's adorable

M. "No need, Son" D. That's it. That's all.

Professor Brunner is so sweet and funny with his grandpa energy I love him (plus in French I'm pretty sure he's dub by Morgan Freeman's french voice which makes me love him more.)

Luke calls Annabeth his sister and that's enough for me to love him (I'm not stupid but I'm weak to sweetness)

Clarisse is so fucking cool, even if I always imagined her very buff, like Luisa Madrigal or Maui, I can't wait to see more of her

Sally, ultimate goddess, her toreador thing against the Minotaur, her hand on Percy's chest in the car, her way to call Smelly Gab out, do I have to say more ?

Smelly Gab, really not what I expected but not disappointed, he looks pathetic, that's enough for me, I can't wait to hate him

And the last but not least, Perseus "I'm Sally Jackson's son" Jackson, a little gloomy at first but more and more sassy every minute passing while still struggling with his mom's grief I love this sweet sweet child

That's what I think for now (I watch in French since I'm a bit lazy, so the quotes probably are not accurate sorry) and I also love the effects on some scenes like the Minotaur one –the ambiance, the blur, the growling of the beast, awesome– or Percy's search for his powers –I laughed so much.– and Grover and Percy's match is awesome they're synchro and that's awesome

In the span of today, I have been fed with tickles and a side of tickles

So today I took a mental health day from classes (wasn't feeling well and the stress was making me physically sick) and my GF did the same and we just spent the day in my dorm

We did some work, ordered some McDonald's, and watched TV. After that, we cuddled for a bit before taking a mini nap. We woke up wanting to watch YT, and my GF loves being goofy and pretended to sleep on my shoulder

I reached behind me and started dragging my dull nails along her stomach and I felt her breathing Hitch as she was fake snoring

"What's so funny, hun?"

I did this for a while before my GF grabbed my arm and did the same thing. Now again, my girlfriend has healthily long nails and her dragging her nails along my bare belly tickled so much omggggg 😖😳😆💖

After that, we just watched YT for a good while, and OMGGGG I was struck with such a Lee mood. When she went to the bathroom, I had texted her saying, and I quote,

"Hey Uhm, so..... please don't take this the wrong way or think it's weird but... I already told you how I liked tickling and being tickled, and you practically do it on a daily basis and always know how to make me smile with them, or even if I'm being a brat😜 But uhm.... there are times where I just.... want you to tickle me without mercy, yknow, like how sometimes you tickle me to cheer me up.... I don't want you to stop short when you get a smile out of me. I know this sounds really weird and I'm sorry if it does but I've been meaning to tell you for a while now since I told you I liked tickling, but even just telling you that was already difficult for me"

In response she said, "Alright then."

After a while, she comes out of the bathroom and lays down with me before tickling my armpit.

"Stohohohop!" (While squirming)

"Nu uh. Not after what you just texted me~"

After that, we kept watching videos on YT. Then we went to a pride club meeting to watch some Percy Jackson (mainly went to support cuz I'm not that inot PJO)

After a while, my girlfriend and I have this conversation (colors still apply)

After that, when the meet up ended we went back to my dorm and watched more YouTube. She would occasionally tickle me or scratch my sides, but not full blown tickle me, and kinda was feeling a bit down, cus in my mind, I'm thinking she forgot. My girlfriend has a 6th sense of knowing when something is wrong with me (but I love her for that ☺️🥰💖)

"Hey, you know you can tell me anything right? Be it silly or embarrassing"

I tried to speak out about it but couldn't

"Hey, just send it through text" (holds up her phone with a smile)

She knew that even if I didn't feel comfortable speaking what was on my side verbally, she compromised by having me say through text, and I had said,

".......I want you to tickle me. Ik asked before but...... I'm sorry I don't mean to sound selfish or anything that's not my intention its just...... After yesterday, yeah this little mental health day was needed but, I feel like i haven't really smiled or laughed that much today yknow. And I'm sorry if I'm constantly asking you about it, but.... There's no one else ik who I can turn to about this"

I noticed her reading it and she chuckled

"You're so needy"

Me, in my vulnerable Lee touch starved state, took that as an offense and kinda turned away from her. She then asked for a hug and when I hug her, she started kissing my neck and tickling my armpits again, as well as my sides and belly, and when I tried to turn over to avoid her nails, SHE WOULD FLIP ME BACK OVER!

AHHHHH I LOVE HER 😭💖🥰🥰💖😭💖

After that, she stopped and asked "better?" I nodded with a small laugh before she kissed me.

"I didn't want to come off as needy, yknow"

"I get it, and hey, i was just teasing; dont take it to heart"

We then went back to watching YouTube. Current position we're in: I'm laying on my stomach, Gf is sitting against the wall with her legs over my back with my ass in between her. While watching videos, she starts gliding and tracing her nails on my ass, and

OMGGGG WHY THE FUCK DID IT TICKLE SO MUCH 😖😖😖😖💖

IT GETS BETTER! When I was kicking my legs, my girlfriend caught my ankles, stared at my dead in the eyes, showed me her nails (did the classic cartoon thing where if a villain or cat flex their fingers and their Claws appear; hers were already there 😂💖) and started tickling my feet

AND REMEMBER, I CANT MOVE BECAUSE HER LEGS HAVE ME LOCKED DOWN 💖😖🥰😭💖☺️☺️😆😆💖😭 AHHHH I LOVE HER SO MUUUUUUCHHH

And yeahhhh that was my day! Tomorrow is my 20th birthday, so maybe I'll get some birthday tickles instead of birthday punches from my girlfriend, so stay tuned for (hopefully) another TTS tomorrow 🥰💖

The Riordan Verse has a new book coming out that's focused solely on Nico and Will! Which I couldn't be more thrilled and excited about! It's called "The Sun and The Star" and I'm sooo ready for it. Like completely. And so I'm my excitement, I'm making a post dedicated to my 2 favorite Riordan Verse ships, Percabeth and Solangelo, because they are amazing 😍

Starting with Nico and Will, because it's their book that's coming out soon! They are the epitome of the golden retriever puppy and black cat trope. Lol i love it. And i fully anticipate and plan to add to this with quotes/moments between them that I love from the new book too. Also I'd hope it wouldn't need to be said, but spoilers for all PJO books from this point on, just to be on the safe side. If you don't want possible spoilers, don't read further!

Annabeth was who Percy thought of to keep him tethered to life. Annabeth jumped in front of a knife for Percy. I mean honestly. I love them so much. And I love seeing snippets of them through others eyes in the later book series too.

I'm doing a Riordan Verse reread binge soon because both a TV show and a new book will be coming soon and my heart is soooo happy! These were some of my favorite books when I was younger snd they mostly still hold up as amazing even now!

do you have any drawing tips? i'm just starting out and your style inspires me to keep going fr!!

HIYA !!! thank you that is so kind of you, i would say to keep drawing with references and do studies!! typically art studies (in like art school lol) are of old masters (da vinci, etc) but doing studies of styles that you like, like trying to copy a certain artist you like, also helps you develop skills !!

for example, lots of people (especially fanartists lol) do studies of artists like leyendecker while making the models their favorite characters/ocs, so it helps to make studies fun. literally look up leyendecker study on tumblr dot com and you will see hundreds.

(gets a bit long and rambly so i've thrown it under the cut :')

style studies can be anything! above was done while watching wolfwalkers, just loose sketches that copied the style as the movie went along. i love the design and style in that film, wanted to incorporate it in my character design work, so i tried it out myself! it let me know the kinds of shapes used in the construction, the way it moves (wrt to animation) and silhouettes. by copying something, you learn how to do it on the way (so the kinds of colors used, what works best with shading, etc) it's like. reverse engineering

even very loosely copying something to identify what you like about the style helps! these were modelled after the way slimsense on ig paints (her work is 2nd + 4th examples below, my attempts at 'paint' 1st and 3rd lol), but doesn't really look like her work. i'm not necessarily trying to make perfect copies. i liked that her paint didn't blend perfectly, was blocky, and the additional lineart over the painting, so i brought that into my own art. i tried to create a painting style that was 'my own' off of lots of trial and error, and seeing what stuck!

also find brushes you like! adobe has a bunch on their page (if you have photoshop, but i know there's some for procreate and other programs) and if you want the adobe brush files, lmk. i will send a drive link to you LOL (sketches of the same characters, using different brushes below. the two i used the most often, one being a solid inker and the other being a paintbrush)

generally doing figure drawing is good too. i've heard advice about art where you can only start breaking the rules after you understand them, and a good grasp on anatomy, proportions, etc is definitely a good place to start! good sites to use for this are line of action for poses, and the morpho books (if you need pdfs of this let me know, though you should be able to find them if you look lol) !

i would also say learn perspective early on. i have no tips for you here i am so sorry. i didn't and now it bites me in the ass, but there has to be a youtube tutorial for this out there that can help you AND me. same goes for color theory. quickly dropping my favorite van gogh quote of all time:

(quote is from a letter to his brother) just everyone needs the fundamentals first. don't worry about a personal style: that just comes naturally as you develop as an artist, and i was certainly inspired by a lot of the things i watched/consumed and artists i admired which absolutely shows in my work i think (manet. western comics. fma. avatar. pjo fanart. there are tells. you know how it is.)

also flip your canvas !!! like see below ... frankly this marcille is so lopsided (her entire face should shift to the left) LOL !! flipping horizontally makes the anatomy mistakes obvious, and shows you you what you need to fix. i should never have posted this as is but sometimes it works for humor and an artist is lazy </3

AND ALWAYS USE REFERENCES WHEN YOU CAN!! i should use more references tbh!!! it helps with posing, getting anatomy correct, etc, and my friends use pinterest a lot, though i tend to just google when i need to LOLLL

also draw what you like. there is genuinely nothing that is better for your art than getting into something REALLY BAD and then non stop drawing it. time + practice will lead to improvement no matter what the subject is!

i hope this was not too much information all at once !!! and some of it is helpful!!! it's a lot of basic improvement tips that i try to practice and use when i can :) so sorry that this got so long!!!!
