alright, I was originally gonna make this as a comic but I’m really busy so I can’t manage that. I swear, this is my last anti-fujoshi post and then we’ll be back to our regularly scheduled inane nonsense.

firstly, I’ve seen a lot of people saying that they dislike the term ‘fujoshi’ to describe these people because of its misogynistic origins. I find this to be reasonable, so I will be referring to them as maiali pervertiti instead. It’s Italian! Hope y’all like it xx That out of the way, let’s begin.

I have put real, genuine, actual research into this. I scoured maiali pervertiti blogs to find their arguments, their mindsets, their justifications. As far as I could find, there are four main arguments. These being the following: ‘It’s just fiction, not reality’, ‘Hating us is misogynistic’ ‘hating us is transphobic/homophobic’ and ‘hating us is racist’. I will be unpacking each of these, looking at them from both perspectives, and explaining why exactly they’re flawed perspectives. Hopefully, a properly researched and informed take on this will help to clear the waters.

Let’s start with the first take. The ever-quoted ‘it’s just fiction, not reality’. This is an argument you’ll find in a lot of places, mostly in any place which is in support of questionable things being treated as erotic. Pro ships and pro-shippers also love to tote this. Now, on its surface this argument seems logical. However it starts to fall apart when you think about it critically. When we consider how the brain works, you’ll see what I mean. To be concise, the human mind slowly accepts things the more it’s exposed to justifications for them, regardless of how reasonable those justifications are. It associates a bad thing with ‘but nevermind, it’s fine’ and you stop feeling shame or regret over time. This is why you’ll often see lolicons say downright atrocious things about child characters- they’ve justified it for so long that they don’t see a problem with it.

Now, on the ‘it doesn’t affect reality’ claim, let’s look at other groups for this. Think about how many studies have been done saying that men who watch rape porn are more likely to become rapists. Think of all the people raised on the ‘I can fix him’ mentality on tv growing up to get in bad relationships or romanticise abuse under the idea that they can make an abuser better by loving him. It’s no secret of society that, actually, fiction does affect reality. The most concise, albeit silly way I’ve heard it put was ‘But you’re still jacking off to it. It’s affecting your dick and balls’. And I think that sums it up.

Next, let’s look at the ‘If you hate us you’re misogynistic’ claim. The mentality behind this claim is that women in Japan were referred to as ‘rotten girl’ for liking yaoi and bl, and to continue that rhetoric of not liking them is the continuation of misogyny. Again, this is a take that seems logical right up until you pick it apart. First we have to understand that the reason these men were calling these women rotten was because they disapproved of them exploring their sexuality and reading erotic content at all. They don’t hate women for reading gay porn, they hate women for reading porn period. The gay people criticising maiali pervertiti on tumblr aren’t hating them for the same reason. We don’t hate you for reading porn, read all the porn you’d like, we just want you to stop fetishising us. The difference is in the context; the men who were shaming Japanese women were shaming them for exploring their sexualities, were shaming you for treating an entire minority of people like they’re a porn category and for spreading gross, abusive content of mlm because you think it’s hot. It’s also important to note that Japanese women mostly started reading yaoi and bl because of the culture toward female sexuality in Japan. They couldn’t read erotica of straight couples, or they’d be seen as perverts. They couldn’t read wlw erotica, or they’d be seen as lesbians and shamed. Their only option for exploring their sexuality became mlm erotica. You, Lindsey from California, do not share this same issue.

Next we have the ever-irritating ‘If you hate us, you’re a transphobe’ argument.

*deep, deep sigh*

stay with me, fellow trans achillians. We can get through this. This argument is based in the idea that transmascs, specifically mlm transmascs, might read yaoi to explore their genders through sexual content. Unfortunately, exploring your gender through erotica and having a fetish are two different things. I personally did explore my gender through gay sexual content. Mostly fanfiction and mental fantasy, but with the odd fanart or comic sprinkled in there for flavour. The difference is that I never had a fetish for it. Most maiali pervertiti seem to argue with a very subtle straw man by implying that reading mlm content is the same as reading the gross rape porn yaoi that ‘fujoshi’ spaces are steeped in. This is not the case- there is a clear divide. I personally consumed actual, healthy content of gay sex. To go further with this argument, I actually think it’s actively harmful to perpetuate the idea that young trans people struggling with their gender should be exploring it through the things that are spread in fujoshi spaces. I’ve read some pf this stuff mostly by accident or against my will and that shit should not be associated in a young trans person’s mind with their gender. It isn’t safe.

Next we have ‘it’s homophobic to hate us’ which is definitely. A take. The rhetoric here is that by hating on the fetishisation consumption of yaoi, you’re really just hating gay men.

this is just… can I drop the nuance voice here? It’s bullshit. It’s gross bullshit. Gross, steaming, cowpat bullshit. Okay, nuance voice back up, let’s explore. maiali pervertiti, please understand that it’s mostly gay people who don’t like you. This is, again, a straw man argument. They’re trying to yell homophobia so they can ignore the real criticisms. The problem isn’t the homosexuality, my dear sweet perverted little fucking weirdos, it’s the rape porn and incest and abuse. Just read normal fucking mlm content I’m begging you.

Finally, we have the ‘it’s racist to hate us’ argument. This is an example of what I like to call ‘the firemen diversion’. This name comes from an example where a person might take the statistic of their being higher fatality risk the more firemen walk into a burning building, and then using it as an argument to suggest that it’s dangerous to call the fire brigade if there’s a fire. There’s a tiny nugget of reasonable argument in there, but it’s backing up a complete and utter bullshit lie.

This is basically what this argument is. The idea here is that the term ‘fujoshi’ was originally a reclaimed slur, and that westerners are changing it to degrade women again and are therefore misunderstanding the actual language behind it.

Now, this is based in a little bit of truth. Westerners do, in all fairness, misunderstand the term. I can’t speak for the reclamation of the slur, considering how I don’t know if that’s true, but I do know that the way it’s used has been quite incorrect a lot of the time. That’s the true bit. The rest of the argument, however, is nonsensical. While yes, some people misunderstand the word ‘fujoshi’, it doesn’t mean that the criticism of the culture (especially the culture in the western world) is racist. Please, don’t cry racism when you see people asking not to be fetishised. You will end up making the actual movement against anti-Asian hate crimes (which have increased in recent years, need I remind you) look less credible. Once again, I am asking allies to shut the fuck up talking for the minorities they claim to represent while being batshit insane x

TL;DR: no, it is not misogynistic, racist, transphobic or homophobic when gay people tell you to stop fetishising us. Stop arguing straw men and just take accountability.

Best described as MLM/WLW Hostility. Most of their frenemyship involves them bullying each other. But if they’re training a platoon together and he blacks out from a migraine, within five seconds, she’ll have the room cleared, a cold compress on his head and be calling for backup. They’re mean as fuck to each other. But they’re homies :D

Monsoon

To say the least, their relationship confuses the fuck out of everyone. Do they have something going on? Are they just work buddies? Sometimes they can be spotted sitting shoulder to shoulder despite Chinook's touch aversion, marking up a map of their next target together. Other times they're bickering like an old married couple. More than one time Chinook has crashed out and fallen asleep on him flying back to base. Then again, Chinook does that to just about everyone. Most Desperados have adrenal enhancements that allow them to stay awake for longer periods of time without rest, but not Chinook. He's much more machine than Sam, but not as much as his fellow Winds. Thus, he is a sleepy fuck.

They've been spotted on a few weekend trips to DC together, seemingly unrelated to work. But, hey, they could just be scoping out the Pentagon.

Sundowner

These two are total bros. They’re both former Army, Chinook was a combat medic and Sunny D was a grunt, so they bond over shared experiences and swapping war stories. Chinook keeps up a pretty professional demeanor unless he and Sundowner are in the same room. Many a time one of them has been leading training or giving potential customers or recruits a tour of their facility, only for it to be interrupted by the other running up and slapping him upside the head. Chinook sort of bounces off his energy when they're around each other and swears 3x more than usual.

Their dynamic was inspired by some of the drill sergeants and NCOs I trained under during my very brief military experience, they were always messing with each other. One second our senior drill sergeant is smoking the platoon because someone mouthed off in formation, then third platoon’s drill sergeant creeps up behind him and kangaroo kicks him in the ass, then they’re giggling and fistfighting while us trainees are dying in the halfway down pushup position. I miss those mfs. 🥲

Jetstream Sam

Chinook was the one who designed and helped install Sam's arm. They're not AS close as the rest, as Sam's still relatively new, but they clicked pretty fast after the initial Arm Incident. Chinook is a big military history nerd, so he was eager to learn about Sam's samurai family background. They meet up to spar sometimes, whether for actual practice or just for shits and giggles. They're mostly evenly matched in terms of speed and strength, but seven times out of ten their fights still end in Chinook getting his ass handed to him.

Senator Armstrong

Chinook, despite having spent a significant portion of his life working for the government, distrusts and dislikes politicians, and by default is VERY leery of Armstrong. He is civil to him, figuring if the Winds are cool with Armstrong, then he’s gotta be cool with Armstrong too. But the iffiness is still very much there.

I would like to hear more of your opinions on fandom depictions of Neil, if you don't mind! Your post made me realize some things I wasn't even aware of when reading aftg fic!!

Yeah sure I have a lot of thoughts on this. I think this is an overall fandom issue and not just an aftg fandom issue, but the feminization of neil as well as the ironing out of his personality to make it more palatable is definitely a thing.

I've noticed in a lot of fics hes a lot friendlier, a lot less distrusting, and a lot more oblivious. I also noticed the amount of demand for vixen neil, and neil in dresses and skirts and crop tops, neil crying and being vulnerable isn't a challenge on traditional masculinity because andrew and the other guy foxes don't receive nearly the same amount of demand.

There is heavy emphasis on people wanting not just neil but andrew to be softer, and while that's okay, it's important to remember the moral of aftg is that trauma makes some people hard, and intense and not traditionally likeable, and that those people aren't broken and don't need to be fixed. So when people just, ignore that and make andrew and neil a lot softer, neil always sitting in andrews lap and other things, lots of expressions of PDA, and other out of charter moments, it erases the idea nora was trying to convey.

I've stated before about how the fandom also often doesn't mention body hair but when it does its andrew having facial hair and neil having less typically, but also there is usually emphasis on andrew having a deeper voice than neil, who sometimes gets written almost as whiney and petulant or pouty.

I also think there is an overall lack of understanding of mlm culture in fandom which is largely a women's space. I won't go into detail here but how pwp is written (especially a lot of the trans andrew or neil ones) are not with a mlm gaze in mind, after all if it was proper gay porn then only mlm would be turned on by it, but the consumer in mind isn't mlm at all, both because the authors are almost always not mlm, but the readers aren't as well. There is emphasis on neil being more vocal and whining, mewling, whimpering, and moaning, all common in how straight porn treats the woman, while andrew is emphasized in being a lot more quiet, maybe grunting and groaning.

Lingerie is not common in gay porn outside of fanfiction, jock straps?? Thats a thing thats a huge thing, but in all the pwp I've seen of them in their exy gear I haven't seen it mentioned before, not a cup or jock strap or anything like that.

Neil is also the one being put into the lingerie and there is emphasis on him feeling pretty rather than handsome and him being petite and slim rather than a bulky athlete

There is also an overall lack in realism in preparation and dynamics that are physically impossible or unsafe but thats a whole other thing.

This is just off of the top of my head, I can get into the fetishization of trans andrew fics another time thats a whole other thing, but yeah this is just my unprepared thoughts and observations I've noticed.

Fanart also tends to lack the men having bulges, i respect trans hc but i have possibly never seen a flaccid penis in running shorts neil is wearing. They don't go away they sit there and take up space.

I have more to say when it comes to the dealings with trauma in fanfiction but for another time. I also have a huge rant about how fanon deals with the race in fics, both nickys canon race as well as the fanon everyone else's race

Overall, people can write what they want to write, and fiction is fiction and i cannot stop anyone from doing anything, and people can interpret the characters how they want. But when writing fiction, the authors own biases can slip though, the charters are written by them after all. An author who writes a torture scene isnt someone who has done that, but an author who writes let's say nicky as even more predatory, slutty, stereotypically gay and "ayeyeyye" in fanfic is unknowingly being racist and homophobic.

A person existing in real life fitting steryotypes is one thing, I've been told like once a week that im stereotypically gay since I've been alive, and have been under a lot of fire for being both "too mexican" and "not mexican enough" but an author who is not mlm and is white can still fall into these pre conceived notions they don't realize they have. There is no such thing as a real life queer couple being heteronormative, but someone else writing one can be because they're not real people, they're characters.

Why does this dynamic appeal to you? Are you projecting? In what way? Why do you think x character is more passive and y is more aggressive? Are they like that in canon ?

When quarantine started I threw myself into aftg even more, but quickly became depressed and felt gross and watched, I felt lonely as an mlm and isnt white in a dominantly white wlw/wlm fandom. Most of tumblr is queer white women dominant tbh, in the same way its American dominant, and fandom is like that too. I still have a hard time talking to my friends who aren't mlm about fandom stuff sometimes because I will tell them something bothers me and I'm not sure they understand or take it seriously. I was so depressed because my personal escapism was making me feel worse.

My depression has gotten better since then, but I still get very uncomfortable with the word "twink" being applied to not just neil, but now any queer man, especially when not said by someone mlm.

Okay I'm gonna stop here lol this was a longer ramble than planned. Ah. Don't cancel me don't twist my words I swear I don't care what others do this is just my observations

Fox Mulder:

Bi and trans icon

The first person he told was Samantha

She accepted him immediately as her big brother and told him he should name himself Fox (it was her favorite animal at the time)

He was going to make his name William Mulder Jr. up until she disappeared, in which he actually decided to make his first name Fox (he misses her 🥺)

Came out to his parents sometime in high school, both took it badly

Bill was hella transphobic—he was already pretty shitty to Mulder but this added a whole new layer to it

Teena was more passive aggressive about it but still made withering comments about how she “lost two daughters now”

Some high school friends (*chants* PHOEBE AND GIMBLE PHOEBE AND GIMBLE) helped Mulder start T and change his legal name on government documents before he left for Oxford

Mulder wanted to go stealth while he was there but came out to Phoebe

When they broke up, she outed him to everyone

Things got so bad that he almost dropped out

Mulder joined the FBI, excited at the prospect of knowing no one and being able to go exclusively by his last name

He was somewhat happy of his solitude in the basement—no one really looked into him past his spooky nature, so no one could find out he was trans

Since Samantha, Scully was the first person who was truly accepting of who he really was

Got top surgery sometime before Colony

Definitely fell in love with Scully right after reading her profile skrjnwkdjwka

Mulder and Krycek were definitely an item for a hot sec until Krycek went evil

Mulder is 500% faithful to Scully but kinda had a crush on Doggett for a little bit

Mulder just wants to be a better dad than Bill 🥺🥺🥺

Dana Scully:

A bi queen

Definitely experimented in college and had a couple girlfriends there and through med school

Ending up breaking up with a girl she was really close with because Scully’s job was just putting too much strain on their relationship

It was really hard on her and made her swear off serious relationships for a long time

She thought Mulder was adorable from the moment she saw him but was really scared of actually developing feelings for him so she pushed it down

And kept pushing it down until she finally realized Mulder was never going to hurt her and actually let him in

I’m just ranting about MSR now oops

100% faithful to Mulder but thought Reyes was super hot

Scully is just a distinguished bi idk what else to say

Walter Skinner:

Grew up in a really conservative family and didn’t even consider it an option until he moved out

Skinner was attracted to a lot of guys in his squad in Vietnam but he thought it was just because there were no women around

(Spoiler alert: it wasn’t)

Skinner fell in love with John “Kitten” James and he fell hard

Absolutely did everything possible to protect that man

He was terrified of his feelings though and pushed them down, eventually starting to resent his best friend for making him feel things he couldn’t understand

When Kitten got infected by that gas, Skinner put his values over the man he loved, not just because he thought it was the right thing to do, but because he was terrified that he might be bi

He has regretted it ever since

Married his wife after the war and had a pretty good relationship until he became too consumed with his work

Their breakup was really hard on him and he delved even more into his work

Sometime after Avatar (maybe by season 5 or 6), Skinner meets a really lovely man and that man becomes his boyfriend

It’s really hard at first, but the guy helps Skinner to open up and allow himself to be okay with who he really is

They make time for each other outside of work and are really happy together!

Skinner’s boyfriend is 100% okay with the fact that Skinner has basically adopted all these agents

Skinner is everyone’s dad!!! No exceptions

John Byers:

Trans man!!!!

Discovered it pretty late in life, like he knew earlier but he Repressed it

First person he ever came out to was Mulder (as in my fic 😌)

Lots of internalized transphobia in this man but Mulder and the Lone Gunmen really helped him break out of that

Langly and Frohike obviously went with him to get his first T shot and chanted “MAN JUICE” while it happened (scaring a lot of the nurses)

Met Susanne before he transitioned so seeing her again in Three of a Kind was a little terrifying for him

She accepts him though and is a bi icon herself

Byers wears suits so much because they make him feel really validated

Ringo Langly:

Non-binary and gay!! Langly uses any pronouns (gonna stick to he/him for this list to keep things simple though)

Grew up pretty unaware about gender as a whole, just living his life

Moving away from home to a city was huge for him, he started going to gay bars and really realized that he was gay

Eventually started to experiment with his gender, using different pronouns etc., and found out he was non-binary!

Came out to Frohike shortly after learning Frohike was bi (more on that later)

Goes by Ringo because it’s somewhat gender neutral

He isn’t dysphoric very often but when he is it’s very hard for him to cope, Byers and Frohike are always there to support him and help however possible though

Langly gets way more dates than Frohike and loves to brag about it

Melvin Frohike:

Frohike had a mega crush on Mulder when he first met him and it persisted all the way until he met Scully

John Doggett

GAY MAN

Doggett was really repressed for a lot of his life, not because he thought his family would hate him for being gay but mostly because of his environment

(He was a drama kid though)

The military REALLY repressed him and thoroughly fucked him up

It wasn’t until he met Reyes that he started to accept himself more

At first Reyes being a lesbian totally freaked him out and he was really upset, leading to a huge strain on their friendship, but one night he broke down and told her he was pretty sure he was gay

Reyes really helped him through everything, especially his divorce from his wife and the loss of his son

Doggett eventually came out to his dad, who was super accepting

It took Doggett a long time to be comfortable enough to date but he started and met a really great guy, one who he’s now married to

One day he mentioned his boyfriend in passing and the rest of the Spooky Squad totally flipped out because they had no idea he was gay

Doggett just straight-faced “I didn’t think it was relevant?”

Sings musical theater songs in the office when no one else is there

Monica Reyes:

A lesbian

There isn’t a straight bone in her body have you SEEN her???

I just saw somebody (in the good fucking omens fandom of fucking course why am I still here) say that since all the non human characters are “genderless”… no matter who you ship “it’s always gay”.

They were mostly talking about how a popular M/F ship is actually gay because they’re both nonhuman.

I swear to god the word “gay” has lost its meaning. Jfc.

I also swear that they’re trying to call an M/F ship “gay” just to make themselves feel better about liking an M/F ship. Because we know how disliked those tend to be in fandom—there’s no gays to fetishize!! 😫

Listen. Gay means a homosexual man or woman. A gay relationship is a wlw or mlm relationship. “You have got to be kidding me.”

Flynn loved slumber parties. She always did; the sugary food, staying up late, movies, it was all so fun. And sleepover games were the best part; truth or dare, spin the bottle, etc.

But they’d never hated them more.

Their group had decided on spin the bottle; they were all friends, of course, so it wasn’t supposed to be awkward... but it was. For Flynn, at least.

They didn’t tell anyone, of course; how would she explain that she’d had a crush on Carrie Wilson since seventh grade? Unfortunately, though, they didn’t have to tell. Somehow, Julie and Kayla had figured it out themselves. And based on the smirks being thrown their way, and to Carrie as well, Flynn was very tempted to smack them both.

Because the universe hated them, they’d spun the bottle and it had landed on Carrie.

It couldn’t have landed just a bit to the right to hit Kayla? Or a bit to the left to hit Julie? Not even Arcady, Soleil, or Jenna (the other three Dirty Candi members)? Even hitting Alex would’ve been better (boys technically weren’t allowed at the sleepover, the only reason he was there was because he was a ghost and could poof away, even though he could now make himself visible and corporeal). She could’ve just kissed him on the cheek or the hand or something equally as platonic (wlw/mlm solidarity).

“What’s wrong, Flynnie?” asked Julie, her smirk widening. Flynn shot her a quick death glare before smiling again, turning back to Carrie, who seemed to be just as uncomfortable.

Well, that didn’t make them feel better.

Her heart sank just a little bit; they’d already known there was no way their stupid crush was reciprocated, but this pretty much proved it.

“Carrie?” asked Kayla, elbowing her in the ribs. “You okay?”

“Fine,” she said quickly, her voice at least an octave higher. Flynn rolled her eyes and leaned forward, pecking her on the cheek.

“There.” They leaned back and fiddled with the hem of her pajama shirt, actively ignoring the even wider smirks from Julie and Kayla specifically.

“You’re both so stupid,” Julie informed them. Flynn and Carrie looked at her and, in unison, gasped in mock offense.

“Jules, how could you?” Flynn asked sarcastically; calling each other stupid, disappointing, or underachieving was a daily occurrence for them.

“I said what I said. Both of you are very intelligent but just so fucking stupid and oblivious.”

“What do you mean?” Carrie asked, and Flynn didn’t miss her blush. They were probably blushing too. Flynn knew what Julie meant, and wasn’t sure she liked the implications of “both.”

Julie and Kayla shared a look, then bust out laughing.

“I swear,” Alex said, “they’re worse than Jules and Luke were.”

“Okay, rudeness aside,” Julie said in mock offense, “you aren’t wrong.”

“Wait...” Carrie said slowly. “Isn’t Luke your boyfriend?”

“Yep,” Julie said with a smirk and raised eyebrows, glancing between Carrie and Flynn. Flynn adjusted the sleeve of her shirt, subtly giving Julie the finger. Julie just laughed.

“Okay, I’m sorry, could I please speak with Kayla?” Flynn asked.

“Yeah, could I talk to Julie real quick?” Carrie added, glancing their way. Julie and Kayla looked at each other and rolled their eyes, muttering something about disaster lesbians. They got up, following Carrie and Flynn respectively to the other sides of the room.

“Okay,” Flynn said in a hushed voice, “clearly you know I like Carrie-”

“She likes you too, dumbass,” Kayla cut in before they could say anything else. Flynn’s jaw dropped.

“What?”

“You heard me.” Flynn barely registered Kayla’s snort and saunter back to the circle of pillows, because they were still too caught up on... everything.

If Kayla was to be believed, her crush was reciprocated? Carrie Wilson? Flynn knew she was awesome, but they’d never actually believed Carrie would like them like that.

The sound of Julie clearing her throat knocked her back to reality. Carrie was back at her spot, her face considerably red, fidgeting with a pillow, but her lips were raised in a small, confident smile. So, Flynn did what they did best; channel their inner confidence, let herself mirror Carrie’s smile, even going as far as to add a little smirk to it, and walked back.

“Carrie spun the bottle, since it was her turn,” Julie explained, pointing Flynn’s attention to the bottle pointed right at their spot. “And it landed right back on you!”

“Yeah, and it only took three tries,” muttered Alex with a grin. Carrie’s face got even redder, which Flynn didn’t think was possible.

“Well,” they finally said, sitting back down with a smirk, “rules are rules.”

Time seemed to both freeze and fly by as they leaned forward, and for once, Flynn was able to ignore the butterflies in their stomach as her lips met Carrie’s. The kiss was sweet and Flynn tasted the faint bit of strawberry chapstick they knew Carrie always wore. Carrie smiled into it, and they couldn’t help but laugh when Julie and Kayla started cheering, followed by Alex’s loud whooping.

Flynn couldn’t bring herself to care, too caught up in the euphoria of kissing Carrie.

Your tags on having to stan men if your lesbians, oh i feel them. I feel like in online/fandom space staning men has become a personality trait, to the detriment of women and women character. And like, I'm a lesbian and I like actors and men characters but the way they are constantly praised over women.. the first time I felt it was when people were making thor lesbian icon meme when there's canon lesbian in marvel. Or hozier lesbian icon over irl lesbian singer and artist.. hes good but come on

I'm sorry for the late reply but it's so nice not to be alone, I swear sometimes I just....metaphorically stare at everyone trying to decipher them. I know everyone's different but there are lesbians who will outright shun every male presence ever (mostly to the detriment of bi women, them denying their bisexuality because they think it makes them lesser wlw, hating on every f/m ship on the sole basis of it being het, never mind that it's interracial or neither of them is straight, etc) and then there are ones who are obsessed with male characters and will rather ignore/dimish/hate on the female characters in their fandoms, when the women are the leads! like in TOG! how often does that happen when they're also this well developed?? and then turn around and complain about the lack of well written female characters and wlw relationships. Like??? Make it make sense. Supporting wlw content is not saying once in a blue moon that they're sad there's not more of it and then high tailing it back to their myriad of mlm ships, because they're supposedly the only source of good queer rep. But yes, why isn't there more good wlw. I do wonder, hmmmm, very confounding

And I love men too, for all the shit I talk the original character I've drawn the most for is a cis man, at least recently. Two of my favourite ships feature a man. I get it, I'm not saying we should all stop liking and making content about men. But good fucking lord, give the the women some love too! Especially in the fandom of media they're the gODDAMN LEADS OF!!

Also I love Thor! He's actually one of the few men I've been invested in. And then Endgame turned him into a fatphobic tasteless joke and Love and Thunder will have Chris Ratt and the guardians, i think, plus less and less chances of Thorkyrie happening because I can't have nice things, apparently. Great example of both people focusing on the man in the name of the lesbians and lesbians baffling me once again when they rode so fucking hard for V*lCarol while Thorkyrie and Danbeau (Carol/Maria)? are right there? and they make more sense?? but right, a straight ship, ew (and don't get me started on the implications of them ignoring danbeau). who's the canon lesbian though? what news have I missed?

I also understand that they’re all subconscious behaviours, to an extent, and we can’t really control what we like. You think if I could help it I wouldn't be in the supercorp or catradora or damie or literally any m/m ship fandom rn instead of Andromaquynh? I could just log in, get my serotonin free of charge and energy because I wouldn't have to contribute as there'd be more than 5 of us, then log out and go about my day. And I know I've no right to police what anyone does with their time and effort, and at this point it’s just expected that people will always go for men, leads or not, over any women, we gotta make our peace with that, but it's still all just very frustrating and very telling and I'm just tired and confused. I do wonder if it’s got something to do with the stereotype of man hating lesbians? to prove a point? or projection? probably some internalized misogyny in there too. I’m willing to hear anything except the ‘there’s no good female characters/wlw uwu’ argument bc it reeks of hypocrisy and i’m sick of it
