Also ignore how thin the first Pilby is I accidentally drew them at an angle and it elongated them lmao

Kep unexpectedly got a chance to score himself an A+ grade in Being A Collie tonight!

I let the dogs out for the last potty and suddenly Keps tearing off after what’s obviously a rabbit he startled. Now my yard is the ONLY one on our street that’s fenced but rabbits just fucking love to dig in under the gate and fuck up my flower garden, so I hate them. And this rabbit is clearly so panicked it forgot where it came in, because it’s racing in laps around the yard and slamming into the fence to try and escape. This goes on for a good 1-2 minutes and Kep is tailing this thing like a gd coursing hound, he is INTENT (Stellina also chased but visibly lost interest halfway through once the rabbit kept repeating its laps). And then finally the rabbit just freezes in some brush along the back fence in sheer panic/exhaustion… and Kep just stands there, looming over it, muzzle punching it. Not biting, not pawing. Just “hey, move.” now I don’t particularly care what happens to this rabbit but I’m also not the kind of asshole who let’s my pets torment wildlife so after it clearly wasn’t going to move anymore I picked up Kep and carried him back to the house, which he was quite miffed about. Hopefully bunny catches its breath and remembers how to leave the yard overnight.

but I am proud of Kep, because that was exactly what a collie should have done! Herding drive = prey drive, the only difference is that in herding dogs their drive is modified to be fully stalk-chase and no catch-kill (as compared to a dog like a greyhound, whose drive is (CHASE-catch-kill). But a herding dog who bloodies the livestock is useless, so that’s bred away from. Maybe he would try to bite if he were older, or if it was a rat or mouse as opposed to a (comparatively) large rabbit. But he showed excellent collie instincts and I definitely need to test him on sheep once he’s a bit older.

even KURUK was done so dirty by natla too - you know, going it alone in the spirit world was probably his greatest regret (though at least his animal guide was probably with him)

yeah my friend pointed out that the way roku was portrayed as uncharacteristically playful and charming while kuruk was just kind of flat and serious was not only mischaracterizing both of them in a way where if they had just reversed their personalities it would have made sense (what are they, zukka??) but indicative of anti-native racism by playing into the stoic native leader/elder trope even though that’s truly not what kuruk is at all, whereas roku is kind of the sage old asian man mentor, but you know, they do think to subvert THAT. no offense to ken leung and danny pudi who are innocent but this show was largely made by the most annoying asian americans, and it shows, such as in the fact that a single fire nation boat looks 100x better than the entire northern water tribe, or the fact that they uh. idk. cast a white guy to play sokka and didn’t even give a shit. justice for kuruk but also justice for every single water tribe character truly

Just finished the Touchstarved demo and I want to chew Mhin like gum

The past couple weeks it’s been really hitting me how much harder it’s been teaching Pride and Prejudice this year—which was so disappointing at first? Because works I’ve traditionally had a harder time with I’ve felt like i’ve broken new ground while teaching and am teaching the kids BETTER. So initially I was so frustrated that my historically easiest work to teach was feeling so difficult! But there’s been some good days that have let me see that part of what was happening was that I have simply never reached this number of kids with pride and prejudice before and so consequently I have never had so many kinds of reactions before! In the waking up from the sleep of simply never paying attention there IS going to be plenty of stupidity, contrariness, crankiness, and almost arguing? Like even with themsELVES. And that’s a good thing.

i am once again disappointed but not surprised at the COD fandom only caring about “sensitivity” when it’s convenient for them

I wonder if they’ll ever actually say that Twyla is autistic.

We all know she’s autistic, they have autistic voice actors for her, and they have it coded in her first music video, but the brand hasn’t actually said anything about it yet (at least not that I’ve seen).

They’ve acknowledged that Frankie is non-binary multiple times, but they haven’t actually said it. And I think that’s what’s gonna happen with Twyla too, which would break my heart tbh.

Like yeah the representation is still there and people will still see autistic traits shown in a positive light, but the only way you’d know that she’s actually autistic and not just “weird” is if you’re in the fandom like that and up to date with it and not everyone is.

Idk, watching her new music video got me thinking about this.

In her first video they had her stimming and showing autistic traits, but in her new one it’s like they forgot about it. Someone said they saw her stimming with her bracelet still but it must have been a quick moment because I watched it twice and didn’t notice it.

Of course we won’t know until her episode comes out and she’s officially in the show, but I really hope this isn’t just a half another assed attempt at representation from Mattel and they actually acknowledge it in the show at least once.
