i have slept and now. i have ideas.

omega was old. he was tired and he lost most of his pack, at first he stayed because he wanted answers, then because dew needed help recovering from the elements change, and now because zephyr asked him to not leave them alone, after all they're all that's left from their pack, (alpha and ifrit are gone, cowbell and pebble are somewhere unknown and mist sank into the lake, swearing to never come out of it. and terzo...) but he really doesn't have a reason to keep working at the infirmary, he's not really needed anymore, especially now that there's a new quint ghoul and aether can (and probably will) take over.

but aether asked him to come help him to do whatever it was sister asked him to, and he said yes.

omega was thinking that maybe after that he'll retire, let aether teach the new quint and just sit somewhere, maybe near the lake with zephyr to see if they can catch a glimpse of mist, maybe talk to her again.

but of course life aren't that easy.

from the moment he and aether got back omega noticed that something's wrong, and that feeling only grew when he couldn't find the new quint between all the familiar faces.

he heard the new multi ghoultee talking about him -apparently his name is phantom, omega wasn't sure why it made him smile- and asking the other ghouls if they saw him every day, no one answered her.

it all came to an end when aether woke him up one morning, his heart racing, eyes wide and terrified.

now, that phantom was sleeping in omega's huge bed, his face relaxed, still wrapped in aurora's blanket, omega felt something, like some kind of a boulder, lifting from his almost crashed down heart.

something in phantom's eyes had reminded omega of ifrit's sparkle, something that omega wasn't sure he'll see again. he looked just like alpha when he slept, minus the purple skin of course, something omega ached to see again. he had the same self doubt as cowbell, something that omega wished he could actually help with this time around.

phantom's voice carried and tore through omega's heart just like pebble's voice used to, when phantom looked at papa and asked him if it'll hurt to be sent back as much as it hurt to be pulled out.

when omega hugged him, when phantom hugged back, omega could feel the last time mist has hugged him. and when phantom gave him a barely there smile, it reminded him of the one zephyr gave him when he told him that he misses their pack.

maybe. just maybe, omega will stay around a little bit more.

somehow instead of saying "as a treat", I've started using the phrase "for morale", as if my body is a ship and its crew, and I (the captain) have to keep us in high spirits, lest we suffer a mutiny in the coming days.

and so I will eat this small block of fancy cheese, for morale. I will take a break and drink some tea, for morale. I will pick up that weird bug, for morale.

y'all missing the whole point of stardew valley. it's supposed to be slow paced. you're a farmer. crops do now grow instantly and you wont be making millions in a season. enjoy the fucking game, take your fucking time. take days off to just forage and talk to people. aren't yall tired of the grind from real life??? do you want to experience burnout in a farming game too??????
