petrified and unsure of what to do, the two police officers who called your attention as they eyed you up and down with mischievous and devilish gleams in their eyes had approached you ever so slowly, making you step back even further away from them as they kept nearing you the more you backed away. they started their little one-sided 'banter' with you through questions of where you were going, or what a 'pretty little doll' like you was doing by themselves, walking down this dim, creepy alleyway all alone. you answered them in a small voice at first, since you were a bit intimidated and scared of them for being so close to you and smiling so... eagerly as they looked you up and down.
they chuckled to themselves as they called you a 'cute little mouse' for sounding like you were squeaking out your answers. they kept commenting on how adorable you looked, asking you if you had any partner or someone that wouldn't be too pleased to find out a couple of cops you happened upon were just merely teasing you, but the way you saw it, they went above and beyond the border of 'teasing, they were harassing you. they were disgusting, they kept creeping closer towards you as you tried to back off and run in the opposite direction; whispers of pleading you to stay in a baby-like voice and chuckles from the police officers filled your ears as you felt your breath hitching in your chest. you felt a massive weight on your shoulders and back and your voice faltering as you kept muttering under your breath in a begging plea to 'please... leave me alone...'
"well, i'm awfully late, now aren't i, dearest?"
the voice that called out to you was smooth and languid, it was relaxed, nonchalant, even; it was also extremely... familiar. you shuddered a bit as you felt their hand on your shoulder, and the warmth you felt from their touch soothed you in a way. you looked up, and they faced you as they cast their gaze lower and smirked at you. "hobart...!" you silently murmured his name as he chuckled and wrapped his arm around your shoulders, pulling you close towards his chest, causing your heart to beat quickly and throb as a heat filled your cheeks and caused a burning sensation in your throat as you yearned to thank him for coming, but he didn't want you to thank him yet.
hobie looked at the officers with a raised eyebrow as the two began to slowly back away, seeing how intimate he was with you, they figured they'd be in a world of trouble if you told him just how disrespectful and creepy these two were being towards you. they tried to act all friendly around hobie, say they were merely joking around with you and that 'you weren't hurt at all by what happened', that they were merely admiring how beautiful you were, but hobie could see through their lies and leaned towards them; he practically hovered over them as he eyed them down, being so tall and all, he was just so frightening to them.
"sure y'were... anyway, there you were, sweetheart. sorry i'm late, but let's make haste now, love, can't let our dinner table for two wait, can we?" he told you with a cheeky grin as you clung on to his chest, with hobie webbing the officers' feet together while they were too busy looking up at his eyes in fear. the two bumbling cops tried to head back to their car but ended up stumbling over each other and knocking their heads down on the hard pavement below.
you flinched at the sound, but hobie held your shoulders with both of his hands and reassured you, all would be fine now. he put on his mask and looked at you through his painted-like lenses, his hand extended towards you. "how 'bout i take you away from here, love, get you away from these lousy idiots?" he offered you with a comforting tone as you ended up taking his hand. "please, take me away, hobart..." you pleaded with him as you let go of his hand and wrapped your arms around his neck, signaling hobie to finally do what he's dreamed of doing with you this whole time.
as he swung off into the distance, with the two of you in mid-air, he smiled and chuckled at your calmer than expected reaction and held you closer to his chest. "you're a natural, dear." he complimented you, which made you flustered a bit and show a hint of a smile on your face. hobie's hands were so soft and comforting, they were nothing like the other men who've held you, it was merely in his hands that you felt what true affection and adoration really was like, even if it wasn't worded out... you could tell, he loved you so, so very much.
he dropped you off at your room by your home, sneaking you in through the window and hanging around for a short while to make sure there was nothing else that was about to harm you. he pulled his mask off his head and showed you his wide, brilliant grin and charming, chestnut brown eyes as you looked at him with a bashful grin and a flustered face from how intimate the impromptu 'adventurous' swinging-around-town date ended up being. you approached him by the window to see him off, and you placed both hands of yours on either sides of his face--and as you gazed at his eyes that were filled with pure devotion towards you... you pulled him in close for a quick, but tender and passionate, kiss.
as hobie pulled away, he smirked at you and couldn't keep his eyes off you, off every single part of you that was too perfect to not adore. "that's my dearest... and i promise you, that table for two dinner date, i'll make it come true, if you'll have me." he said with a slight wink at you, which made your heart skip a beat as you smiled even wider at him as he muttered a 'love you', pulled his mask back down, and swung off into the distance.
to be loved by a boy named hobie brown... it was a feeling more ethereal and cathartic, and enchanting, than the love of any other person you ever knew in your life; and dare you say, you had hoped for that table for two dinner date to become a reality tonight. nothing wrong with hoping, no?

I actually have a shit ton of Ace’s big brother headcanons so I’m gonna go ahead and throw this in your inbox😫
Ok so first of all. I like to think he has a name that’s also related to Alice in wonderland so something like Hare or king or a Filipino name (Cause I’m a believer in the Filipino Ace headcanon) like Angelo or Lester. For now we’ll call him K.
First thing’s first, this guy was a straight A student even though he was a slacker and didn’t like doing shit. But when he studied he *studied*. the first time he spoke to Sam he actually needed something from him so he was lying out of his ass the whole time(Sam found this out when he was Senior and was lowkey impressed and annoyed). He has three pictures of Ace in his wallet, one when he was a toddler one a child and one now. When he found out Ace was going to NRC he threw a small party, only inviting close friends and family. He’s in and out of relationships every other month, longest one he’s been in lasted a year(everyone was surprised). Continuing the last point, that relationship was with Sebeks brother, they’re still friends and talk regularly though. Trein was and still is his favorite teacher, and even though he doesn’t show it Trein likes him a lot. He was the one to create the board game club because “the other clubs are so boring”. When he was around 18 he got a tattoo of an Ace Of Hearts because Ace. His home screen is an old family photo with his parents and Ace and the inside is his with Sam and Sebeks brother. Speaking of Sebeks brother, they always talk about their brothers together. The housewarden of Pomfiore when he was in his 2-4th year has a huge crush on him and hated the fact that he didn’t like him back(K was and still is an oblivious dumbass). He flirts without realizing he’s flirting. Can hold his liquor, doesn’t like drinking. Smokes every now and then (nothing heavy don’t worry). Was a mechanical engineer major and now works in an amusement park(this one is true, he does in fact work there in canon). His best subject was potions, but he always had “beef” with Crewel(friendly fighting). Was supposed to be the vice-housewarden but he didn’t want to deal with all that responsibility. Was a model for a few years. While Ace looks more like his mom K looks more like his dad, but they still resemble her more. ✨dimples✨. He sounds a bit like Howl from howls moving Castle. While he loves annoying Ace more than everything ever, if he ever called K he would drop everything to make sure he’s alright.
And uh yeah, that’s all I can think about at this time!!
THE FACT HE CARRIES ACE’S PHOTOS AROUND IS KINDA CUTE LMAO. You see this cool guy until his brother somehow gets mentioned in conversation and he’s immediately brightening and showing you all the photos… I think that’s so cute-

- He loves to see how creative and spontaneous you get when coming up with designs.
- Hat making is one of your favorite pastimes for the two of you.
- You two have definitely collaborated on numerous hats from concept to execution.

Okay that was definitely more fun than any of the other ones I’ve seen so far. CONFUSING AS FUCK like I don’t get it at all but it was really fun. Really funny, with GREAT characters, and I was loved Billy Crystal Fire Guy, so glad I happened to watch the dub.
Also I can’t explain it, but this one is just For The Gays
I’ll watch Princess Mononoke next

today was shit fullstop, but there were some highlights
1. ramen, thank you to Food Bank (@calypsomm) who feed the Orphans (three of us collectively rationing ramen SOUP). imagine 3 year twelve students huddled around this one cup of instant ramen and just rationing out THE SOUP (and some noodles but i mainly ate that LMAOO)
2. him :D just being around him makes me happier and his puppies are literally adorable although the youngest one is very jumpy and i've never had a pet so i dont know how to interact with them except give them too much attention and panic when they jump on me
on the topic of him, i gave him a christmas present (needed) at christmas because his phone was always dying - take a guess what it is - but he tells me he loved it and i didnt really expect anything back because my past relationships were SHIT and i was always putting more effort in the relationship than the other party, but we were cuddling and talking abt valentines day (thats in literally 7 days so exciting! i have a surprise planned but it means early ass start to the day AGAIN) but then the conversation moved to the christmas and he was like "i guess since its been ages since christmas i'll tell you what your gift was" and i looked so confused and then remembered he was getting me a birthday and christmas (combined) and omg i love this idiot SO SO MUCH

i bugged him about promise rings for our one year last year (holy shit the two year is coming up) and he brushed it off because he wasnt sure if he would be able to wear it without being made fun of (because jewellery isnt really his thing and etc etc). i didnt press it because i couldnt find any promise rings that weren't flashy but also ones that werent tacky because all of them were just horrible if it was plain. so i left it and was just gonna wait until he proprosed (🙄) but thats literally so cute i love this man so much 🥹
if he ever breaks up with me i may literally just be so distraught that i will crumple inside and proceed to crumple on the outside too

chocopot, first of all: i followed you on tumblr bc I found your Howl's Moving Castle fics so incredibly charming. <3 Thank you for writing those.
I've been in fandom long enough that I've seen major fan wanks come and go, enough that i've gone from "oh no, fan wank! can't we all just get along?" to "omg this has all happened before why can't you fools see" to just leaving to go outside and smoke a cigarette til it's over, a la that meme of ben affleck.
I enjoyed the OFMD show, of course. I found it so charming, and it was such a wish fulfillment for me personally to have the perfect delicious dynamics that fandom eats like a full course meal, with the additional surprise of the canon supporting those pairings. I also appreciated the canon approaching this with a light touch, enough to leave room for fandom and also eschewing the usual ham-handed After School Special style way queer rep often is.
(I am of course not dismissing those representation efforts in any way, but those storylines don't always have the forward momentum that leads to the creation of fanworks. Sometimes the non-canon character dynamics lead to MORE fanworks because of more ambiguity to play with, funny enough)
I've been living vicariously through ofmd fanwank from you (thanks for being out there in the field, haha). So much of the Discourse with a capital D just seems so wild to me. The best way I can think to describe it is, instead of the "YesAnd" of most fandoms that feed off each other's energy, it's instead more of a "NoBut."
I was wondering if you think there's something different about this particular flavor of wank and what factors you think contribute to it.

Thank you! I'm glad you liked them. I gave up on DoMAYstic after like a week but I think I wrote some cute fluff during that week.
I started writing a response to this ages ago, but I think I need to scrap it and start over because I was getting too into the weeds.
On one level, I don't find the fandom that wanky at all. The amount of fic, art, gifsets, and vids created for OFMD after just one season is incredible, and while it's slowed down since last summer, it's still pretty intense. I see loads and loads of "Yes And" posts like "imagine ed and stede going to bed on the revenge after they reunite. imagine stede wrapping ed in one of his nightshirts" on Tumblr, and people posting their fic updates and other people reblogging and liking them. There is also discussion of representation in the show and how it's interpreted in fandom, and sometimes the latter is more of a "No But," but it's all in earnest and I think it's productive even when I disagree with people and quietly scroll past.
Now, Twitter? Twitter is an entirely different beast. Twitter as a website is designed to stimulate wank, making people express stupidly brash opinions for attention and then making other people feel the need to amplify that or dunk on it. Every time I spend a day doing Twitter on my fannish account, it's so draining and makes me feel like there's no hope for the fandom because it does the same thing. From my perspective it looks like there's a lot of clout chasing, people becoming semi-BNFs and attacking each other and getting hoist by their own petard when their tactics get used against them.
It's a microcosm, though. Almost none of it seems to escape the group of OFMD fans on Twitter who seem to really care about the drama, so I just kind of ignore it, or enjoy hearing about it secondhand.
The fandom is mostly a "Yes And" place. Sometimes in a good way (feverishly making excellent content), sometimes in a bad way (passing around flawed fanon as Definitely True). The AO3 category is bursting with creativity, thousands of canon and setting AUs, fusions, new ways to have the reunion happen, takes on backstory, and more. There's an incredible amount of fanart that does the same things. The fact that the slash juggernaut is also the main canon ship seems to have produced a fandom with a high degree of unity. While there's lots of discourse over Izzy stans, judging by AO3 that's actually a pretty small faction of the fandom as a whole.

Oh I forgot Netflix has ghibli stuff!! I need to watch some! My favorite is my neighbor Totoro, it’s so cute!! I haven’t really seen a ton of those movies but I plan to soon, I’ve just been watching different shows lately, stuff like catfish, various crime shows (I love learning how they catch the criminals — I don’t have the stomach to go into forensic science but I love watching it! Literally the only reason i watch those shows lol), GBBO, etc. I’m also working on a homebrew D&D campaign for my moots and I, we play every Thursday! It’s super fun and extremely chaotic lol. I’m sure all my moots probably know who I am now (for this ask thing) but oh well lol

oh that’s super cool! yeah i get what you mean, i love true crime and crime shows but i don’t think i could ever do it for real. i watch a lot of crime documentaries, as me and and my friend found out when she wanted to watch one with me and i’d seen like all of them fkdkfkfk but i’ve been watching a lot of shows with super short episodes and like 1 or 2 seasons like crashing, heartstopper, everything sucks. but i just started watching the handmaid’s rale a few days ago and i’m nearly finished season 2 (lol that’s so bad)
