Another Chance to Live Part 3 (Ana Maria Crnogorčević x Reader)
Summary: Both Ana and you spend some time at your national camps. It helps you to finally realize a few things.
Part 1, Part 2
Tumblr media
A/N: At this point I think I'm just committing to aim for an upload every Sunday. Maybe I'll manage to update sooner at some point, but usually I end up being way too busy during the week. And in case anyone is wondering, there will be three more parts after this.
I was really excited for this part, so I hope you guys will be to. And thank you to anyone who has shared their thoughts about this story, it always make my day. :)
Also, Ana at the Champions league final just broke my heart all over again!
The next morning you woke up to an empty bed, and while you missed Ana’s presence next to you, you were also glad for the moment of reflection it allowed you. Last night had blurred the lines between the Swiss woman and you, a prospect that seemed much scarier in the bright light of day.
Maybe it also felt more daunting at the moment because you were nervous about going to camp. Conditions had improved somewhat for the Spanish national team, but it still wasn’t a happy place to be. It was still an ongoing back and forth, constant fighting for every small thing to hopefully one day get to the point you all wanted to be.
So you didn’t feel prepared for a complex and emotional conversation with Ana right now. You just wanted a peaceful morning with your best friend, eating a nice breakfast, enjoying each other’s company, sharing one last hug before going to your respective national teams. After last night though, you weren’t sure if that was in the cards for you today.
Once you gathered enough courage to leave your bedroom, you were greeted by the smell of coffee and pancakes, your absolute favorite breakfast food. So at least the tasty breakfast part of your wish was being fulfilled.
Ana smiled at you gently and wished you a good morning when she saw you. You echoed her statement, readily excepting the cup of coffee she handed you. It made you happy how comfortable she felt in your apartment, almost as if she was your girlfriend making breakfast for you.
She wasn’t though! She was your amazing friend making breakfast for you, and that was nice too.
“Are you ready for national camp?” The Swiss woman asked while she plated the last of the pancakes and moved to sit at the table.
You took a sip of coffee to avoid having to answer straight away. This was a loaded question, with the potential of leading to a variety of difficult topics you didn’t have the strength to acknowledge right now.
“It’ll be nice to see everyone again,” you offered vaguely.
The blonde nodded in agreement.
“Yeah, that’s one of the best parts of national camp. I’m very excited to see Lia again.”
Ana’s eyes were shining with happiness and you could tell how much she was looking forward to seeing her Swiss friend again. It made you irrationally jealous. You had no right to feel like this, Ana was allowed to have other friends, and of course she should be happy to see them.
“Who are you most looking forward to seeing?” Ana carried on, thankfully completely oblivious to the jealousy burning inside of you.
Her question left you in a bit of a dilemma. There were some players you were always especially excited to see, but most of them were friends of Ana as well and you didn’t want to risk her telling them. Not when you were pretty sure that they would never give you as the answer to such a question.
“All of them really.”
It was more of a non-answer really, but you felt like the time you could take for answering such a simple question had ran out and it was the safest option you could think of.
“I know that they’re all excited to see you too,” the Swiss woman assured you.
You hummed in fake agreement, quickly changing the subject to Ana’s travel itinerary. It was nice of her to lie on your behalf; the blonde had probably caught on that the question had me you flustered. She was empathetic like that. Still, you didn’t want to linger longer than necessary on this.
Sadly, the morning passed way too quickly for your liking and all too soon it was time to say goodbye to Ana for now. You felt like crying, which was ridiculous, it wasn’t even two weeks before you saw her again.
The two of you hugged goodbye and you were relieved that the Swiss woman allowed the hug to last for a while, seemingly also in no hurry to walk away. However, when you finally let go of each other, it was still too soon for you.
Ana smiled at you with gentle eyes and a slightly melancholy smile. Apparently you weren’t doing a good job at hiding your unhappiness if it was so obvious to her.
“I’ll see you soon, yeah?” The Swiss woman said. “Call me or text me whenever!”
Ana waited for you to nod, then she turned around, waving as she walked away. You had to take some deep breaths to stop yourself from bursting into tears right there in your doorway. However, you didn’t have time for a crying session right now; you had to get a move on to get to the airport on time.
You were ready in the nick of time, finishing a final check when you heard a knock on the door. It was Misa who had offered to pick you up so you could drive to the airport together.
“Ready?” The goalkeeper asked after greeting you, but one look at your face made her change her course of questioning. “Why the long face?”
You shrugged your shoulders. You really didn’t want to get into that right now.
“Well you better put on a poker face before the others see you, or Jenni will tease you to no end about your crush on Ana,” Misa advised.
“What? I don’t have a crush on Ana!” You shot back. „She’s my friend.“
Misa smirked. „Yeah sure, whatever you want to believe.”
“It’s the truth though!”
Your teammate raised her hands in surrender. “Okay, okay.”
You could tell that Misa didn’t believe you at all. But you didn’t feel like arguing any more, you most likely wouldn’t convince her either way. How could you when every reasoning you could possibly give her was a lie?
Heeding Misa’s advice you made sure to erase all sadness from your face before meeting up with the rest of your national teammates. Still, it only took a few minutes after the initial greetings were over for Jenni to approach you with a sly smile on her face. You had never wished for the ground to swallow you as much as you did in that moment.
The older woman threw an arm around you, pulling you close.
“So what’s going on with you and Anamari?” She whispered into your ear. However, she did so loudly enough for everyone in your vicinity to overhear and suddenly all of the attention zoomed in on you.
You freed yourself from Jenni’s holds, crossing your arms and challenging the black haired woman with a hard gaze.
“Nothing! We’re just good friends. Can we move on now?“
“Aw look at you being all firm. Does Ana like that?” Jenni teased.
You flushed bright red, very uncomfortable with this conversation.
“Leave her alone, Jenni!” Alexia commanded and you flashed her a thankful smile.
Jenni rolled her eyes, muttering something about how everyone always ruined her fun, but thankfully she listened to her ex-girlfriend. Though, you weren’t naïve enough to assume this wouldn’t come up again during camp.
It wasn’t until much later, when you were laying in your bed that you wondered how Jenni even knew about Ana and you. Not that there was anything going on, nothing mutual at least. But still, it seemed unlikely that she had come to that conclusion by herself all the way over there in Mexico.
Had Misa or Lola, who had both picked up on your crush a while ago, even though you had never confirmed their suspicions, talked to her about it? Or did she hear it from Ana herself? That would mean that the Swiss woman either had feelings for you as well or that she had realized you were in love with her at some point.
That second option made your anxiety spike through the roof. How embarrassing if Ana really knew! You desperately wanted to go and ask Jenni about her sources right this moment, but in the end you weren’t ready to endure the subsequent teasing.
Therefore you were forced to mull it over silently, trying to find some small scrap of evidence for any of the possible scenarios. It was a fruitless endeavor with the only result that you couldn’t fall asleep until the early hours of the morning.
---
All in all the time at national camp was pleasant enough. You enjoyed being around all of your teammates, even if you had to put up with more teasing about Ana, mostly from Jenni. It wasn’t too bad though and you got better and better at just ignoring her comments.
You also took great care to suppress the goofy smile that always threatened to bubble up when you got a text from Ana. So you were doing your part to minimize the teasing you had to endure.
But then on the night before your last game the Swiss woman called you for the first time since you had parted ways, and it was at the most inconvenient time. You were hanging out with Jenni and most of the Barcelona girls when your phone started buzzing.
Your heart did a somersault when you noticed who was calling. You had wanted to call her every day, every hour really, but had refrained from doing so because you didn’t want to bother Ana. But now she was calling you!
Unfortunately Jenni was sitting right next to you, instantly seeing Ana’s name flashing on your phone. You could practically feel the glee radiating from her. However, you didn’t pay her any attention, too busy getting up and leaving the room while answering the phone. This wasn’t a conversation you wanted to have with an audience.
“Hi Ana,” you said almost at the doorway.
What you heard on the other side of the phone made you foolishly stop in your tracks. The Swiss woman was sobbing into the line and you wished with everything in you that you could crawl through the line to comfort your friend properly.
“What’s going on? Are you okay?” You asked; panic seeping into your tone.
You only realized your mistake when you heard gasps behind you and turned around. And sure enough you were met by concerned faces all around. You waved them off, not really certain what you were trying to communicate with that gesture.
To avoid any more unwanted eavesdropping, you quickly left the room, just barely hearing Irene calling after you to come tell them what was going on once you finished your call. You nodded even though you had already closed the door behind you, so there was no way they could see it.
You kept talking to Ana while rushing to the privacy of your room, telling her that everything was going to be okay, that you were here, that she should try and take some deep breaths, that you would be on the phone with her as long as she needed. You weren’t sure if the blonde even processed a word of what you were saying, but at least this way you were doing something.
You were already seated on your bed for quite a while, repeating the same things over and over again, when Ana’s sobs finally died down.
“Sorry,” was the first thing the Swiss woman said. You desperately wanted to shoot that stupid word to the moon.
“No, no, you have nothing to apologize for! I’m happy you called me. I wish I was near you, so I could give you a hug or something. Do you want me to call Lia and tell her to come give you a hug? I mean I don’t have her number, but I could probably go and ask Mario.”
On the other side of the phone Ana chuckled softly, a noise that sounded heavenly after listening to her miserable crying for so long.
“That’s sweet, but I don’t want Lia just yet. I’ll go see her afterwards, but right now I just want to talk with you a little longer if that’s okay.”
“Of course! That’s more than okay,” you quickly reassured Ana.
Did it mean something that she preferred talking with you over talking with Lia? The Arsenal player was one of her oldest and best friends, so surely Ana should prefer her comfort, unless…No, you couldn’t go there! Especially not right now, when you should be focusing on making the blonde feel better.
“Do you want to talk about it?” You inquired gently.
There was a small pause, but then the words started tumbling from Ana’s mouth.
“Being here is just so frustrating! Ever since I dared to question some of Inka’s decision during the World Cup, respectfully and with sound reasons might I add, she acts as if everything I do is a direct attack on her. Today I brought Rio some water and for some reason Inka took that as me saying she’s overworking us and doesn’t care about our health? I feel like I can’t do anything without offending her.”
“And let’s be honest I don’t really care about hurting her feelings or whatever, she’s a big girl, but then she told me today she won’t play me tomorrow because I’ve been too disrespectful. And I haven’t even done anything! How insecure does a person have to be to act like this? I just wish we could get rid of her already!”
Ana’s voice was getting louder and louder, but suddenly she went all quiet again as if that last thing was too scary to utter it too loudly.
“I’m so scared at this point that I won’t get to play at the home Euros. And that’s my biggest dream. She can’t take that away from me.”
A fresh wave of tears began leaking from the Swiss woman’s eyes, but this time she was crying silently. The only giveaways were some sniffles and the sudden quietness.
You had been listening quietly while Ana spoke, going through your own emotional roller coaster. Knowing that the blonde was in so much turmoil, hearing it from a distance, was cracking your heart one word at a time, one tear at a time.
But you were also furious and if you would have been anywhere near that horrible coach you would have punched her right in the face. Not that violence was the answer, although maybe it was when someone was making Ana feel this miserable.
Then again Inka didn’t deserve any of your time or energy; both were much better spent by focusing on your friend.
“I’m sorry things are so bad right now and I wish there was more I could do, but I’m always here if you need to rant or talk and I can’t wait to see you again and be a real shoulder to cry on. I’ll give you the biggest hug the moment I see you,” you promised.
Ana let out a watery chuckle. “I can’t wait for that. I’m debating if I should just leave tonight,” she admitted.
“I get that, but don’t do that, it’ll only give Inka more ammunition. Try holding out a little longer, I have no doubt that her days are numbered and soon enough you guys will be rid of her. She’s ruining your national team and with such a big home tournament coming up, that’s the last thing your federation will want. And let’s be honest, you have to play at the Euros, you’re one of the biggest names Switzerland has, so it’ll be stupid to leave you out.”
Suddenly you were glad that you had spent a lot of time informing yourself about the Swiss national team, which of course included all of its recent problems. You had rationalized it to yourself by claiming you did so out of professional interest, but really you had wanted to know as much about Ana as you could. And now it was definitely paying off.
“Yeah, I guess you’re right and really it’s nothing compared to what you guys went through. I shouldn’t even be complaining-,” Ana apologized frantically.
“Don’t,” you stopped her, “Don’t do that. There’s no point in comparing bad situations and putting them in any sort of hierarchy. Things suck even if something might be objectively worse and it’s okay to feel bad about it. And it’s always okay for you to tell me about things that are bothering you.”
There was a short moment of silence and of course you instantly played back your words, trying to figure out what you could have done wrong. You probably had been coming on too strong, you should add that you always wanted to know what was going on with all of your friends in order to support them.
In fact, you were already opening your mouth to say exactly that, when Ana broke the silence, “Thank you so much. I’m so grateful to have you in my life. Really.”
Naturally, you noticed that the Swiss woman didn’t clarify that she was happy you were her friend and of course it stoked some foolish hope inside of you. Lately you had been trying to decide what was better, having false hope or having no hope. You hadn’t come to a conclusion yet, so you stayed in this weird state of in between, going from absolute hopelessness to overwhelming hopefulness.
After this you didn’t talk too much longer, Ana wanted to go and fill in Lia. This time you only felt a tiny hint of jealousy at the other Swiss woman, mostly you were relieved that someone close to Ana was going to give her a hug. Even if it would have been much better if it could have been you.
There was a knock on your door about ten minutes after you had hung up. You knew instantly who it was. The only surprise was that it had taken Jenni this long to come and find you. Preparing yourself for more teasing you opened the door.
However, you weren’t met by the usual grinning Jenni with mischief shimmering in her eyes, but by a serious woman wearing a concerned expression.
She waltzed right into your room once she noticed that you were off the phone, sitting down on your bed.
“Is Anamari okay?”
You tilted your head from one side to the other. „She isn’t great, but I think talking about it helped. She went to go be with Lia now.”
Jenni nodded. “That’s good. What was it about then?”
„Issues with the national team. I don’t really know how much I can say. Ana didn’t tell me not to talk about it, but I still don’t want to betray her confidence,” you declared.
Luckily Jenni accepted this easily. “You’re a good friend, chica. But are you sure you’re really just a friend?”
You sighed; of course the black haired woman had to bring this up again. Although, maybe this was your chance to get some more information about Jenni’s knowledge of Ana’s potential feelings.
“Do you know something? I mean did Ana tell you something?” You asked instead of answering the older woman’s questions, cringing at how obvious your eagerness was.
A small smirk crept back onto Jenni’s face. “Oh, no chica, just like you can’t tell me what Ana and you talked about, I can’t talk about what Ana and I spoke about.”
You rolled your eyes, but didn’t really see much of an option to argue her point. It was fair enough, it was just also very frustrating.
Instead of continuing to tease you, Jenni’s expression quickly sobered when you stayed silent. “Look it shouldn’t matter what I possible know or don’t know about Ana’s feelings. You own feelings aren’t dependent on what she feels.“
This was shockingly wise from someone who often acted like a teenage boy. Then again it shouldn’t really be surprising to you because you were pretty familiar with this much more mature and serious side of Jenni that only her friends and family got to see.
And obviously she was right. Your feelings were there whether or not Ana returned them. However, you would never deliberately reveal them to anyone until you where 1000% sure that the Swiss woman also felt something more than friendship for you.
Jenni let you stew in silence for a while, but when it became clear that you wouldn’t say anything else, she got up with a sigh. She knew there was no point in trying any longer tonight; you needed time to figure things out by yourself.
“Call me when you decide you’re ready to face your feelings out in the open,” she instructed, pressing a kiss to the top of your head before leaving you alone with your thoughts.
---
A couple days later it was time to go back home and you were eager to do so. Still, you took the time to say a proper goodbye to everyone, especially Jenni. It would be a while before you saw her again. And even though she often annoyed you, you also appreciated her friendship.
“Remember what I said, yeah?” She reminded you once you parted ways.
You nodded, convinced that it would never come to this. You couldn’t see a future where you would open up about your feelings any time soon.
Back in Madrid you were faced with the awkwardness of having to tell Misa that you weren’t driving home with her. The moment you had figured out that Ana would arrive after you, you had decided to wait at the airport for her.
Of course you didn’t say as much to the goalkeeper, but she put two and two together easily.
“I won’t tease you right now because you’ve endured enough of that these last ten days, but girl open your eyes!” Misa exclaimed, then she gave you a hug and disappeared.
Why did no one realize that you weren’t oblivious to your own feelings? You were well aware of them, the problem were Ana’s feelings or the lack thereof.
The time waiting wasn’t spend very productive. You were too anxious to potentially miss Ana, so you just sat around staring at the sliding doors she should exit from long before there was any chance of her actually coming out.
When you read on the arrival board that her plane had landed, you suddenly worried that the Swiss woman might find this weird. You had thought it was a nice gesture and it allowed you to give the promised hug at the earliest moment possible, but it might come across as too much.
You had almost talked yourself into enough insecurity that you were going to leave, when you spotted Ana. A huge smile spread on your face and before you even fully registered that it was actually her, your mouth was already moving.
“Ana!“ You shouted.
The Swiss woman looked around, confusion clearly written on her face. However when she was you, the confusion morphed into pure joy. She rushed over to you, tackling you into a hug. It felt so nice, completely right somehow, to have the blonde in your arms again.
„What are you doing here?”  Ana asked, making no move to break the hug. And you sure as hell weren’t going to do so anytime soon.
“I wanted to give you the hug I owed you as soon as possible,” you explained, glad that Ana couldn’t see the blush on your face.
The Swiss woman tightened her hold on you.
“I’m so glad you did.”
At some point you did have to let go of each other, but before you could fully break apart, the Swiss woman caught your hand, intertwining your fingers. She looked at you searchingly; keen to make sure you were okay with this. There was little you had been more okay with in your life.
“Do you want to come over?” Ana asked hopefully when you got into her car.
“I’d love to,” you responded. “And before I assume incorrectly again, do you prefer to talk about the national camp situation or would you rather just hang out as a distraction?”
Ana smiled at this; she really appreciated your question. At least for the night she actually wanted to think about other things than the national camp, and she told you as much. Therefore the two of you spent a relaxing evening together, ordering food, watching some TV, before going to bed relatively early.
Throughout the entire evening you carefully watched Ana for any hints she might have feelings for you too. And there were some signs, the way she looked at you, how she laughed at your jokes, the way she initiated physical contact whenever possible.
If you would be watching this as a neutral spectator there would be little doubt in your mind, that all of these were subtle clues hinting at a crush. But because it concerned you, you couldn’t be so sure.
And the most confusing thing was the matter of why the Swiss woman wouldn’t just tell you if she had feelings for you. You had been so obvious that everyone else had caught on, so if the feelings were mutual surely Ana would have told you by now?
The next morning when it was time to say goodbye, you once again felt sad. Which was even more ridiculous this time around because you would see each other again the next day.
When you got back to your apartment, you picked up the phone and called Jenni before you could second guess yourself. If you began thinking about it, you would lose your ability to act.
“You were right, I like her,” you stated without even saying hello.
On the other side of the line you could hear a happy squeal, “Finally! You will be so cute together, I can already see myself getting sick when we’re all going to hang out. Maybe you could take a trip over here during winter break.”
It was reassuring that Jenni seemed so sure that this would work out between you and Ana, but you couldn’t get your own hopes up like this.
“Slow down, Jenni. Just because I like her doesn’t mean we will end up in a relationship. I’m still not sure about Ana’s feelings.“
„Oh my god, I’ve never met anyone as oblivious as you! I know for a fact that Ana has been hinting at it for ages, but now that you’ve come clean I can confirm that she also has feelings for you.”
Your heart was soaring at these words. Did they mean what you thought they meant?
“Wait, are you saying Ana told you she liked me too?” You double-checked.
Jenni chuckled. “Yeah, let me spell it out for you; my dear friend Ana Maria Crnogorčević has told me, Jennifer Hermoso Fuentes, that she likes you.”
At this point even you found it hard to hang on to any lingering doubt, but still you managed to do so because there was one last thing bothering you.
“Then why didn’t you tell me before?”
“Because Anamari asked me not to. She wasn’t totally sure if you really had feelings for her too or if you were just confused, so she didn’t want you to be influenced by her feelings. And even though I told her that was stupidest thing I’ve ever heard and that she should just let me tell you because you never believe anything until you get hit by a blinking neon sign, ultimately it wasn’t my decision.”
You couldn’t even be mad at Jenni’s comment about you needing things to be completely obvious; it was definitely true. But you also thought that no one could fault you for having a hard time believing that someone as wonderful as Ana wanted to be with someone as mundane as you.
“But I was so obvious,” you brought up one thing you couldn’t fully understand yet. How had there been any doubt in Ana’s mind?
“Chica, you kept saying things like you love her as a friend or you’re always happy to be there for your friends. Of course she had some doubts,” Jenni pointed out.
“But…But I only said that because I was so obvious otherwise and I didn’t want her to suspect anything,” you defended yourself, realizing how that sounded while you were still speaking. Suddenly it made a lot more sense why Ana hadn’t revealed her feelings to you before.
“Okay, okay, I heard it, don’t say anything, Jenni,” you quickly added, before the older woman could tease you about it.
Then something dawned on you. “Oh god, how do I ask her out though?”
Jenni snorted. “Just ask her on a date. It’s not that hard, you know she’ll say yes now. Just don’t over think it, even if that’s hard for you.”
You nodded, already over thinking it. Should you call Ana now? Should you ask her when you saw each other tomorrow? Should you text her in case she had somehow changed her mind since she last spoke to Jenni?
“I can hear you over thinking it all the way over here in Mexico!” Jenni scolded you. “Just do it. I’d love to hold your hand through it, but it’s the middle of the night here, so I need my beauty sleep. Not that I really need it, I’m pretty enough as it is, but still.”
A pang of guilt hit you. You hadn’t thought about the time difference at all.
“I’m so sorry, I woke you up, Jenni,” you apologized.
“Don’t be, this was a good reason to be woken up for. Go get your girl now,” Jenni instructed.
Despite this you apologized once again and thanked the black haired woman profusely, foolishly saying that you owed her one. Going by Jenni’s reaction you would come to regret this at some point, but that was for future you to worry about
Right now you had other things to worry about, like how to ask Ana out. Even if you had gotten confirmation that the Swiss woman liked you too, it still felt like this had to be perfect, otherwise she might suddenly have a change of heart.

Dick Grayson V Gotham
Chapter 1 - AO3 - Constantine Jr. AU
There were a few minutes every morning, in the dark before dawn when his alarm hadn’t yet rung, where Dick Grayson felt most at peace. Despite the ache in his body the night out as Nightwing, he felt refreshed and content to just rest his eyes until his phone rang and it was time to get ready for the day.
Unfortunately, peace was never meant to last.
With a loud crash that definitely woke the neighbors, a little body kicked his door in. A switch was flipped and blinding light filled the room. Dick squinted in the general direction of the intruder. “Get up already!” Danny, his ward, snapped, rushing forward to rip the blankets off his bed. Dick let him. “There’s a case ready for us at the precinct!”
Dick checked his phone. No missed calls, and Danny didn’t have a phone yet. “Is this another psychic thing?” he asked.
Danny rolled his eyes. “If I say yes, will you get your ass out of bed already?”
“Language,” he chided absentmindedly, but still got out of bed. Danny glared up at him, still not satisfied, and dragged him to the bathroom with a surprising amount of strength for an 8-year-old. “Huh! You’re really in a hurry today.”
“No, you’re just super slow!”
Dick pulled back against Danny, slowing their progress considerably. “Oh, it’s the age!” Dick bemoaned, draping himself dramatically against the wall. “Now that I have a kid of my own to look after, the years have started to take their toll—Ow!”
Danny glared up at him like he hadn’t just kicked Dick in the shin. Brat. “Be dramatic in your own time! We have a case, Dick, we need to go!”
“Alright, alright, I’m going!” Dick complied and got in the bathroom, saying just before he closed the door, “Make sure you’re dressed in clothes you can afford to lose! I don’t want you to get blood on your favorite jeans again!” Danny shouted back his agreement and finally, Dick was alone.
As Dick washed his face and did his business, he contemplated how he got there. Honestly, he didn’t get what Bruce was always complaining about; this guardianship thing was going great! It was three weeks since he’d wrangled Danny home, but he’d been preparing for this for months, ever since he learned that the little brat trying to solve murders was homeless. It took months of classes, meetings with CPS, and interviews with friends and family, but Dick was now the proud foster parent of Danny Smith!
Fortunately, Dick had managed to convince Bruce that the foster license was precautionary, like if he needed to protect a minor. Which was what he was doing! So not technically a lie!
Although, Bruce had his hands full already. Some new crime lord had taken up the Joker’s old alias and it was driving the old man up the wall. Bruce had even asked Dick for help on the case last night! He’d said no, of course; he wasn’t just going to abandon Danny in Bludhaven for days while they hunted down Red Hood, and he wasn’t going to spring Danny on Bruce, nor Bruce on Danny. Danny was a flight risk and had expressed disdain for millionaires in the past, and Bruce was… worse than he used to be. Tim had managed to resurrect some of the dad Bruce used to be, but ever since Jason…
Well, it was good that they wouldn’t be seeing each other any time soon. Maybe by then Tim will have convinced Bruce to go to therapy!
Coming out of the bathroom, Dick started at Danny, dressed in jeans and a Digimon t-shirt, standing on the counter and getting Dick’s lunch bag off the shelf. He cocked an eyebrow. “What are you doing?”
“Packing breakfast to-go!” Danny said, jumping off the counter. Dick’s heart skipped a beat and he lunged forward, but Danny landed before Dick could reach him. He glared at Dick. “What are you doing?”
“Nothing.” He straightened up, playing it cool. He observed what Danny had laid out for breakfast as he started the coffee machine. A banana, two yogurts, and a handful of granola just poured out onto the table. “You know, you absorb more nutrients when you sit down and actually enjoy your food. And we don’t need lunch to-go. Remember, we talked about this? We have to wait for someone to report the crime first.”
“How do you know no one hasn’t yet?” Danny challenged.
“Have they?”
“...No. We could report the crime though,” Danny grumbled, but opened a yogurt cup.
They really couldn’t. If they reported the crime, they’d still have to wait for other officers and CSI before investigating, and that’s even if they were given the case! But more importantly… Dick was the only officer in the department who believed Danny could see ghosts.
Sure, Commissioner Gonzalez believed Danny, but that was just one woman. As much as he appreciated the Commissioner’s work helping get Danny off the streets and processing the paperwork to ensure the boy got recognition as an official BPD consultant… well, Dick knew she had ties to the gangs in town, he just couldn’t prove it. Just because she liked him and Danny doesn’t make her good.
The fact that she promoted him to detective was evidence enough. Dick was an amazing detective—like everyone trained by Batman—but normally you’d need a certain number of years and successful cases for that level of promotion, both of which Dick didn’t have. Hell, he’d only been working as a cop for two years! But Danny was only willing to work with Dick… so Dick became the youngest detective in the city.
The coffee machine sang a little robotic song and Dick placed a Nightwing mug under the spout just in time to catch the stream. As Danny finished his breakfast, Dick shooed him off to go brush his teeth and turned on the TV. He still had thirty minutes before they had to leave for work—
“—taking after his father!” Jack Rider’s voice rang through the apartment. Dick frowned; why was this trash on? “Although I have to say, I don’t think anyone ever expected Richard Grayson to adopt a child of his own!”
Dick froze. What? No, he’d worked so hard to ensure that no one would find out—
A picture flashed on screen of Dick and Danny. Dick recognized it immediately; he’d taken Danny out to eat to celebrate Danny officially becoming his foster child. But that was weeks ago! They’d been sitting on the story for that long?
They didn’t even bother to blur Danny’s face.
“Now, Jack,” the co-host chided, “Let’s not get too hasty. Our source at Bludhaven PD—who will be unnamed to protect their privacy—said it was only a foster, not an adoption.”
Jack waved her concern away. “Yes, a foster. For now. Don’t you remember how long Richard was Brucie’s ward? Sure, the kid might only be a foster for now, but with this family, adoption is always on the table!”
Turning away from the TV, Dick checked their security cameras on his phone. When he’d first moved in, Babs had hacked into all the cameras in the apartment, piggy-backing off their feeds. There, outside the building’s main entrance, were multiple reporters. Some had even gotten into the building, although their aimless wandering told him that their apartment number hadn’t been leaked yet.
“Still, another street kid in the family,” Jack continued to muse. “That’s two now for the Waynes, right? Are they going to take off with an entire orphanage next?”
“Dick?”
He locked eyes with Danny, who gave the TV a worried look. But Danny didn’t get worried; he was a cocky, grumpy brat who’d given Dick a heart attack when he dared a gang member to shoot him in the face. But a news story scared him?
Smart kid. Dick was feeling scared too. So, he made the executive decision.
Dick knelt down to Danny’s height, gently grasping his shoulders. “Okay. Here’s what we’re going to do. I’m going to call out of work—”
“But Mrs. Bennett’s murder!” came the immediate protest.
Dick took note of the name, but held up a hand to stop him. “I know, I know. But it’s not safe for us to go to the precinct right now.” Someone at BPD had told the reporters about them. One of his colleagues, pissed that he’d gotten his promotion unfairly? Someone who hated that a little kid solved murders better than them? Or anyone looking to make a quick buck? The possibilities were endless.
He continued, “Commissioner Gonzalez will understand and help us consult with the case from online, okay? We’ll get sent pictures of the crime scene and you can talk to Mrs. Bennett and we’ll consult from Gotham just to be safe.” He had some PTO he could use, right? If not… Gonzalez could just fire him. He’d already known his co-workers were corrupt assholes, but to willingly put a child in danger was a step too far. If Gonzalez wanted to keep Dick—and therefore, Danny—she’d better clean house.
Danny made a face. “Why Gotham?”
“That’s where my family lives! While we wait for the story to die down, I’ll introduce you to my grandfather, Alfred, and my brother Tim, and my friend, Barbra! I’ll show you around to all the fun spots, it’ll be fun! So go get packed, buddy.”
Hesitating in the doorway, Danny said, “They won’t listen to me. The other officers aren’t like you.”
“They will listen to you. I’ll make them,” Dick promised. He’d gathered enough blackmail on his fellow detectives to force the issue, if needs be. He ruffled Danny’s hair. “Don’t worry, Danny. It’ll just be for a week or two and then everything will be back to normal. I promise.”
Danny glared at him, batting his hand away. “I’ll keep you to that promise, old man.”
As Danny retreated to his room—Dick’s former workout room—to pack, Dick went to his own, closing and locking the door behind him. The call to Gonzalez went about as well as he was expecting: first her anger at him taking time off, then his anger about being sold out to the media, then Gonzalez swearing as she found the news online, until finally agreement.
As they talked, Dick methodically packed away his Nightwing gear. After last night, where a slime meta had unceremoniously caked his suit in gunk that would not come out, he had two functioning suits: his back-up and his original that he kept for sentimental value. He packed all three, along with his gear. Maybe Alfred would be able to get the gunk out? But he couldn’t leave his things here. Their location was already compromised. If reporters decided the risk was worth it, they could break into his apartment and turn the whole place upside down looking for a story.
So, Dick had to take the story with him.
With all his gear packed, there was little room for personal belongings, so he did the best he could and only took the important things. His room at the manor still had a few changes of clothes. Fortunately Danny wasn’t a nosy kid, otherwise he’d never be able to get away with carrying his Nightwing gear in a normal duffel bag like this.
Now, the hard part.
The phone rang three times before it was picked up. “Master Richard.” Alfred’s icy tone made him wince. Oh, he already knew. “To what do I owe the pleasure?”
“Hey, Alfie…” Dick rubbed the back of his neck. “I just wanted to say that I decided I can help Bruce on that Red Hood case after all?”
“I see.” No matter how angry Alfred was, he was frighteningly polite. “And shall I prepare a second bedroom for your ward?”
Dick winced. “That would be great, Alfred. Thank you.”
“Then I will see you soon. And please inform the young master that I look forward to meeting him when you both arrive.”
“I’ll tell him. He’s been looking forward to meeting you; I’ve been talking up your cooking for months now.”
“Months?” Oh no. “How kind of you, Master Grayson.” It got worse. Alfred was pissed now. Why did he have to say months? It wasn’t like Dick had intentionally hidden Danny from his family; he was just hiding him from Bruce! He wanted some privacy and to figure things out himself! But now Alfie was mad and suddenly that privacy didn’t seem so important anymore. “Shall I assume you’ll be arriving soon then?”
“In around an hour.” Leaving his room, he checked on Danny. He was trying to back everything he owned into the suitcase Dick had bought him. “Maybe a little longer? I’ll call when we’re ten minutes away.”
“Then I will see you soon, Master Grayson.”

Golden Wings
Tumblr media
I saw this tweet about hozier leaving love notes around the house for his partner to find and I could not stop thinking about it. Good luck!
Tumblr media
Warnings: None, pure fluff
Word Count: 1.9k
I wake as I always do, surrounded by his scent. Woodsy, dark, and a tad floral. I do a big stretch followed by a small whine. I go to reach over to Andrew’s side trying to feel any trace of him.
“Andrew?” I murmur, my voice still heavy with sleep. I continue to paw at his side of the bed until I feel his abandoned pillow. I force my eyes to open and glance around the room, and realize I am most definitely alone. I prop myself up, a little sad I missed him this morning. But then out of the corner of my eye I notice a soft pale blue square against our dark emerald sheets. I lean over and grab it, becoming a little giddy when I realize it’s a note.
The goddess of the day has risen, how I am unworthy to love such an ethereal being.
When you are ready, there is breakfast downstairs.
All my love, ~A.
I read and reread the small note probably a dozen times. His words always have a way of piercing into my heart directly and making a home inside. I hold the soft blue square to my chest and wonder how lucky I had to have been to have found Andrew.
I slip on a matching cream colored silk set, Andrew’s favorite, and slowly make my way down to the kitchen. I glance around our small home as I walk through the hallways and wonder how we were able to move into here only four months ago but it’s felt like forever. It feels right. As I round the corner, the aroma of breakfast hits me.
“Love, it smells divine,” I say. I’m greeted with silence in return, just another small pale blue square.
Light of the day, your breakfast awaits you warming in the oven. I didn’t want to wake you- you looked so peaceful, but I had to run to the studio this morning just for some final touches.
I will be home in a few hours to you, my love, I promise.
For now, eat your breakfast. Get your strength for the day. Look for more notes. I have plans for you.
All my love,
~A.
Again, I can’t help but reread his words, hearing his voice as if he’s reading them directly to me. Once I tuck the note in a safe place I open the oven to look at what awaits me. Andrew wasn’t lying. A fully prepared breakfast sits on a plate in the warm oven. He’s left oven mitts for me on top of the stove, which I grab eagerly. Breakfast smells even better when it’s sitting right in front of me. Veggie bacon, eggs sprinkled with cheese and spinach, toast with butter and maple sugar.
As I sit down at my plate ready to devour the spread in front of me I spot Andrew’s discarded robe on the seat next to me. I don’t even hesitate as I reach out for it, wrapping myself in his scent and warmth. I feel even more relaxed now, if that was even possible, as I eat my meal.
I finish up my toast basking in the silence of our home. I can’t help but wonder when Andrew will be home, so I go find my phone to send him a text.
Y/N: Thank you for breakfast, my love. I miss you.
A: You are so welcome, my dove. Look for the notes. I’ll be home before you know it. I miss you more.
My heart flutters at his words like always as I go to put my cell phone in his robe pocket. Sliding it into the soft pocket, I swear I hear a paper-like crunch. I’m quick to take my phone right back out and stick my hand in to feel for the noise. It doesn’t take long before I pull out a small pale blue square identical to the ones before it.
I knew you would put this on, my sweet. I have never known such a love as the love you give to me, I am forever in awe of you.
Till we are bones, my love.
All my love,
~A.
My heart thumps in my chest. I take the little note and add it to my ever-growing pile. Snagging a cup of tea, I walk around our sunlit living room and tend to our ‘plant children’. The monstera has always been my favorite, even though I tell Andrew they’re all my favorites. They do say you’re not supposed to have a favorite child. I don’t hesitate as I walk up to her, murmuring my good mornings and inspecting her as I grasp my mug of tea, bringing it to my lips. As soon as Andrew called me his, he kept my favorite kind of tea in superfluous supply wherever he lived- just for me. It doesn’t take me long to notice a little blue square nestled in her leaves. Of course he knew.
Seeing you wearing my ring drives me mad. Watching you in the mornings, with it shining off the light as you talk to our plants is one of my favorite rituals. The way you speak to them with such kindness, such empathy- I cannot wait to raise our children together. A goddess such as yourself will be perfect with them.
To the blues.
All my love,
~A.
I quickly glance down at my ring once I finish reading his words, immediate feelings of giddiness fill my chest. The perfect moss agate ring sits in a golden crown on my finger. I touch it, remembering the moment Andrew got down on his knee. He is always nervous when it comes to us- but not that day. That day, he was so confident. Bringing me to his hometown, showing me all of the places he used to go as a ‘young lad’ as he’d say. That trip I knew I needed him forever, and I guess he needed me just as much. I watched as he spoke Gaelic with the townsfolk in passing, his voice hitting my ears in such a dreamy way.
It was when he brought me up to his favorite hill, the one he watched the sunset every day when he lived here, that he asked me to be his. Looking at the setting sun, wrapped in each other's arms, he feigned that he had forgotten something, and got up and started to look around.
‘Andrew, what’s going on?’ I had said to him. When he turned to me his green eyes were the brightest I’ve ever seen them, I swear.
‘Love, can you stand for me?,’ he said.
I think subconsciously I knew what was happening, even if I didn’t want to believe it. Tears freely fell from my eyes as he poured his heart and soul out to me, reaching out every so often to wipe a tear or give me a lingering kiss on my forehead. When he finally got down on his knee, I was a sobbing wreck. I can’t remember what he said, just me nodding and practically screaming ‘Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes!’.
Now his ring, his beautiful, intricate golden ring just for me sits on my finger. I sit in his chair, even though it’s usually both of us squished into it every night, and play with my ring. I watch as it hits the sunshine and sends dancing light around the room. It’s then, as I’m looking at the light, I notice another small pale blue note. I practically run to it, ready to read more of Andrew’s words. I take a moment once I have it to enjoy the anticipation before I read it.
Once the Gods realize you have escaped with their golden wings I’ll be in so much trouble.
But, for now, you are mine. Do they know you’re here, love? Did I have it wrong and you were sent just for me?
I’ll never be sure, but I’ll be eternally grateful for you.
All my love,
~A.
He’s trying to kill me I swear to anyone who is listening. It’s never been an act with Andrew, this has always been him. The love and adoration he gives me is unmatched. I can’t help but feel like I’m the luckiest person with him. I finish the rest of my tea, adding my two new notes to my pile that won’t seem to stop growing.
I make my way to our shared bathroom and am a little surprised when I see another note. He truly thought of everything. I do my morning routine to try and prolong reading his letter, the anticipation is delicious. Once I do finish taking care of myself I carefully peel his note off of the mirror and finally allow myself to read it.
I cannot wait to see those eyes shine just for me. Thinking about it now I swear my heart skips an entire beat. That can’t be healthy, but you- you are my own personal drug. Stronger than all the others there is you. I need you.
All my love,
~A.
My eyes scan his letter too many times, taking in the way he writes his t’s and dots his i’s. I take out my phone and pull up my texts to Andrew.
Y/N: I need you as bad as you need me, love. I hope studio time is going well. Come home to me soon.
A: You are the very air I breathe, my dove. See you soon.
My heart flutters knowing he’ll be home soon. I decide I’ll stay in his robe and his favorite silk set and surprise him. Confident in that decision, I grab the book I’m currently reading and snuggle back up on our chair while I wait for him. I scroll on my phone for a bit, getting lost in social media for a little too long. Once I finally resign and open my book, a final little blue note falls out onto my lap. I can’t help but laugh, and wonder a little when he even did all of this. I waste no time reading the note.
In every lifetime, I hope to find you. Our souls are destined to be intertwined throughout the centuries. You are the only one for me.
I can’t wait to kiss you soon.
All my love,
~A.
My heart is fully melted. All of his words from this morning play on repeat as I stare at this one note. How can one man be so fucking eloquent? I’m so lost in thought, I don’t hear the front door open or close.
“Dove?” Andrew shouts from the doorway. I’m on my feet in seconds, after all of these notes I missed my man something fierce this morning. He laughs when he sees me, arms outstretched ready for me. “There’s my dove. I hope you liked my notes this morning.” He says to me inbetween interrupting kisses.
“Loved them? Oh Andrew, you have no idea. You know, I missed waking up to you this morning.”
“I’m sorry dove, let me make it up to you.” He hoists me up in his arms and quickly kicks off his shoes before walking down the hallway to our bedroom. My laughter echoes in the hall, I’ve never been so in love.

Tumblr media
The phone sits on your bed for a good awhile before you contemplate on actually picking it up and texting him. Your talk with Jisung was about a week and a half ago, but you figured you could at least talk to Minho and get things straight without anyone getting in the middle of it.
Even though you missed Minho, you knew you weren't ready and that you still needed time to properly say your peace to all of this.
You would let the universe handle it, allowing you to have Minho in your life however it'd like you to have him— even if that meant at a distance, even if things never returned to normal. You would be sad, but you trust in the universe to take care of you this time around.
Whatever is meant to be, will be.
It all still feels terrible.
You grab your phone when you finally gain the strength to call him, nervously letting out a breath when the other line starts to ring. By the third ring, you almost regret calling him. You start to slowly pull the phone away from your ear when you hear Minho hastily pick up the call— music playing in the background.
"Y/N?" He calls for you as he steps around the corner of the studio, hoping the music is a bit softer outside of the room.
"Hi. Sorry, are you in class? I didn't mean to interrupt."
"No, no." He clears his throat, also experiencing nervousness as he continues to talk to you over the phone. "I was just hanging out with Hyunjin. We were working on a random piece and just messing around with choreo."
"Still. I'm sorry to interrupt."
"You're not. Don't worry. Is everything okay?"
"Yeah, it will be." You chew on your bottom lip for a moment before speaking up again. "I was just wondering if we could talk."
"Are you sure? I just don't want you to feel uncomfortable or anything, I'll wait until you feel completely ready."
"To be honest, Minho. I don't know if I will ever be completely ready. But, we should talk. Alone. I need to let you know what's been going on my mind, too."
"Okay. I'll be leaving in about 15 minutes. I'll shower and head to your place? Unless you wanna meet somewhere else, but uh—" He clears his throat. "It's kinda cold. I just, I don't know. Whatever makes you comfortable."
"My place is fine."
"Okay." Minho lets out an inaudible sigh, a bit nervous about how the rest of the evening will go. "I'll see you in a bit."
"Sounds good." You respond softly before ending the call. Minho stills in his position for a bit before returning to the studio, his heart beating in his chest— because he is scared, he is nervous. But, nonetheless, he knows whatever is meant to happen, will need to happen.
This is just another chapter in the book, another learning lesson; another step in becoming better for each other, your friends. Unlearning bad habits, leaving the past where it belongs.
"You good?" Hyunjin furrows his brows at Minho, watching him slowly walk back into the studio. Hyunjin has his hands on his hips, using his shirt to wipe the sweat from his face. It takes a minute before Minho reaches his gaze and responds with a shrug.
"I don't really know. I will be."
"Who was that?"
"Y/N. She wants to talk."
"Oh." Hyunjin purses his lips into an 'o' shape before nodding. "Is she okay?"
"I don't know either." Minho lets out a pathetic chuckle. "She said she's not sure when she'll ever be ready to talk more about this but she has stuff she wants to tell me."
"I see."
"I really messed up." Is all Minho says as he walks over to his duffle bag on the ground.
"You did." Hyunjin sighs. "But, you are acknowledging it and trying to learn."
"I just, I don't really know. I had her back and I tried to take the chance to fix it without really... fixing it. If that makes sense."
"It does, and I get it. I honestly might have done the same if I was in your position. Plus, I know Jisung just wanted things to be okay for a bit." Hyunjin comes to stand next to Minho as he grabs his water bottle. "Promise me you'll give her the time she needs this time around."
"I will. At this point, I don't wanna lose her as my bestfriend. Even if that means I need to give her space for awhile—" He shrugs and throws the duffle bag strap over his shoulder. "However long it takes."
"Mm, yeah." Hyunjin nods. "It'll be okay. Are you gonna go straight to her house?"
"No, I'm gonna head home first. Are you just gonna stay here?"
"Yeah, I'll probably stay posted here for a bit longer. Still wanna get this choreo down." Minho gives him a tiny, toothless smile before waving goodbye.
"Alright, I'm out." He throws up the peace sign just as he heads out the door and to his car. He tosses his bag into the passenger seat, letting out another breath as he gets situated in the driver's seat. He's dreading this talk even though this has already torn you two apart— but he is determined to fix this the right way;
The right way as in putting it in time's hands.
When Minho gets home, his roommates are all tucked away in their rooms. He slips out of his shoes and tosses his duffle bag to the side of his room, adding to his laundry pile. He grabs a hoodie and some jeans, stepping into the bathroom for a quick shower. He quickly runs the towel through his hair before stepping out and grabbing his keys— heart still racing in his chest as he returns to his car. It's one of those drives where Minho has the music incredibly low because he needs to hear himself think; can't really focus with all these what if's and imaginary scenarios about how the evening will turn out.
Pulling up to your place, he sees Uncle Adrian home, but tucked away in the house somewhere. He can see a the dim light in the kitchen on, with another one of the room lights also on. He parks his car and pulls the hood over his head while walking to your small detached suite, taking a moment before knocking on the door a few times. You're sitting on the couch indulging in a new series when the knocks come— instantly throwing the blanket off of your legs to greet Minho at the door.
"Hey." You quickly eye Minho standing there in his hoodie and jeans, stepping aside to let him in.
"Feels nice and warm in here." He shakes off the cold a bit, plopping onto your couch.
"I'm glad." You chuckle, returning to your position on the couch. "How was the studio?"
"It was okay. Nothing too bad."
"Did you eat?" He shakes his head.
"I'm not really hungry."
"You sure? I have some leftover pasta." You point at your kitchen counter, making Minho smile.
"Promise, I'm good. Thank you." He switches his attention back to the TV. "Watching a new show?"
"Mhm. Finally finished the other one."
"That's new."
"I'm trying here." You respond before subtly biting onto your bottom lip. Great, the silence is settling in and it's awkward.
But luckily for you, Minho is quick to break the silence.
"So, how've you been feeling?" You sigh and turn your body towards him, giving him your full and undivided attention.
"I've been alright. I think I've seen brighter days. What about you?"
"Mm, not sure. But, it's alright. I'm making it through my days." You nod. Silence. More silence filling the room feels a lot louder than it actually is— probably due to all your thoughts and the neverending spiral of overthinking.
"Minho." You call his name and he feels his heart constrict for various reasons. "Why didn't you tell me about this earlier?"
"Y/N, I'm sorry. I should've, but I was too caught up in us. I brushed things over without thinking about you or Jisung. I-I thought—" He sighs. "I really thought I could fix the past by doing better now, but I know it doesn't work well that way." He looks at you. "I planned to tell you, I just let it slip away from me. Selfishly." You look at him and you aren't sure what your heart is trying to tell you. You're angry, you're upset. You're sad, you're missing a piece of yourself because of all this.
"Do you know where we went wrong?"
"It was nothing you did." He responds lowly. Somehow, this statement triggers the tears that are suddenly streaming down your cheeks, and you can't help but quickly wipe them away. Minho has the hardest time preventing himself from reaching over to console you; but, he stills. He knows he can't, he shouldn't.
"How was it nothing when you upped and left? Clearly, something was wrong. Especially for you, somebody who was my bestfriend and knew me better than myself, to leave when things got rough between us." You tell him softly, though the words sting and they carry weight you are not strong enough to carry.
"It wasn't you. I was stupid. I ran when things got tough, I mistook a small ounce of infatuation and excitement as a way out of it. I'm so sorry. I didn't realize how stupid I was being right away."
"Minho, I don't really know what to say. After everything that's happened, I was starting to feel safe with you again. Like there was nothing you could do to hurt me. And I think what hurts the most is knowing that I was terribly wrong. That I, at one point, was an after-thought for you. Because of this small ounce of infatuation and excitement. If it was nothing on me, then you wouldn't have left." You continue to cry and Minho swallows the lump in his throat— his own tears threatening to spill. "If it was nothing on me, then you wouldn't have kept seeing her while I was in the hospital. I know I had no control over that, but you definitely did." You dig your head into your hands and cry.
"Y/N. Please tell me what you need so I can make this better." Minho's voice wavers, his need to pry you away from your hands almost becomes unbearable. The more he watches you, the more he realizes that this must be how things turn out. This is how it all ends, this is what you two have become;
Broken.
And there was no fixing this, no seal strong enough that could keep the cracks together. Because eventually, the seal wears off, it takes another blow, and everything comes apart— breaking to pieces all over again.
When Minho thinks about this, the urge to console you slowly subsides within him. It's not that he doesn't want to, but he realizes he is the cause of all the cracks he can see on you; all the cracks that are threatening to break apart because the seal isn't strong enough, no glue good enough to keep it together. All he does is add onto it, and maybe, he should just keep his distance like he originally did.
He loves you, and maybe this time, love meant he needed to let you go.
"I need time away from you." You finally look up at him again, and the silence that settles between you two is heartbreaking. "I just need to keep my distance because I don't think it's fair I didn't get my own time to process this, to properly get over it. I am grateful you told me and were honest about everything. Eventually, I'd like to move forward and say my peace to it. But for now, that's not the time. I'm not ready to."
He loves you, and maybe this time, love means he will let you go.
"Okay." Is all Minho responds with. But, you continue to cry and Minho isn't sure what he should do. Clearly, you can't let him in again. Clearly, the distance is what you need.
"I hate this." You manage to mumble as you look at him. "I look at you and I don't want you to leave, I don't want you to just give me an 'okay.' I wish you could hold me and tell me things will get better. But then, I look at you and I also can't believe that you're the same person who managed to do the most damage to me. The one person I wasn't good enough for, the one who I wish never gave up. It makes me confused, angry. Part of me really wishing I didn't have to talk to you or see you."
"I'll do anything to make you comfortable and to keep you happy. I wanna show you that you are my biggest priority and that you are first before anything. Anyone. So, I'll give you time. I'll give you space. No matter how long it takes. Even if time eventually tells me that things are different between us, I'll take it. Because I'd rather have part of you than have none of you." Tears are slowly staining his cheeks at this point, but he continues to look at you; never once breaking contact. "I love you, and I'm gonna be here no matter what. But, I'll give you just that and let you be."
"I hope time can be good for us."
"I hope so too." He stands, asking for your hand so that he can pull you up and hug you. You follow his actions, tightly wrapping your arms around his waist while letting your cheek rest against his chest. His one arm is wrapped around your back, while the other comes behind your head; his lips kissing the top of your head. He whispers an 'I'm sorry' against the surface before he says: "You don't need to forgive me. You know that. I deserve it. Whatever happens though, I'll always be here. Okay? I'll always be here. I'm not going anywhere." He repeats before placing another kiss on your head. You stay in the position for a few more seconds before pulling away to look up at him.
Looking at Minho makes your heart clench so, so badly. He can't help but return your look with soft eyes, nose slightly reddened from the crying he did earlier— hand coming to brush the hair away from your face before he steps back and starts heading towards the door. You wiggle your fingers and ball them into a fist, preventing yourself from reaching out, stop him from leaving. All you do is slowly and silently follow after him, now surrendering the rest of this chapter with Minho to the universe.
"Call me if you need me. I'll come no matter what." You nod, closing your eyes when he plants a soft kiss against your forehead. He gives you one last, tiny smile before turning on his heels to walk back to his car. You watch as he throws his hood back over his head, shutting the side gate closed behind him.
You nibble on your bottom lip as you find yourself walking into the house, hoping to find Uncle Adrian and be in his company for a bit. When you walk in, the kitchen light is still on and you find your uncle pouring himself a glass of water.
"Oh, hey." He sees you pop around the corner as the back door shuts. His smile instantly fades when he sees the expression on your face, and the way you hug your arms close to your chest. "What's wrong, Y/N?" You start crying into your hands again and your uncle panics, throwing a blanket over your shoulder before walking you over to the couch. He pulls you into a hug, doing his best to ease the pain you're feeling. "Talk to me." He says.
"I wish things were easier." You mumble through your crying, finally looking up at your uncle again. "I wish things didn't have to be like this between me and Minho." Your uncle's heart breaks because he wishes he could do more for you. And he knows this isn't solely because of the breakup; your heart isn't aching because of your relationship, no.
Your heart is aching because you no longer see the same bestfriend, have the same bestfriend, that you had. You've come to re-learn Minho, how you two used to be even before the relationship— and before you could even have that back, you've already lost it. Your uncle knows that the relationship only makes up one [complicated] part of it.
Your uncle will let you because you need to. He's glad you two were able to talk it out properly, but he's certain it wasn't easy for you to put up those boundaries towards your own bestfriend. It makes him torn because despite the ups and downs of your relationship, Minho was always good to you as your bestfriend. He helped take care of you, he never wanted you to be unhappy, was always making sure that you never felt a lack of support, love or care from him.
He gets it. It's not easy, but hopefully these times, will bring you to better days. To happier times. To more trust, less worries. To brighter, blue skies.
Right now, he will let you be.
Right now, you are mourning everything about Minho.
☁︎ FLASHBACK | HIGH SCHOOL
You drag yourself up the hill after your walk to the convenience store, suddenly craving for a specific brand of ramen and spicy tuna onigiri amongst other snacks you've grabbed as you pranced around in the aisles. You swing the bag gently back and forth, head hung low as thoughts continue to swirl around in your head at 100mph.
You miss Minho.
You haven't heard from him today since he had been busy with family on the other side of town, and you were starting to wonder if you should text him first instead of waiting. You were torn about it. Should you text him now? Would he think you're too clingy?
Is he thinking of you the same way you are?
Maybe you shouldn't, and maybe you should just let him be until he's free.
You let out a sigh, finally coming up the block to your house with the bag twirling around your fingers. You check your phone still seeing zero texts or calls from him, making your heart drop just a tiny bit. But, before you could let your feelings completely take over, you catch sight of a shadow up ahead. You look up and find Minho standing near the streetlight; making you pause in your tracks to take in how the light perfectly sits on him right now.
You missed him.
"Hey. I was just about to call—" Minho's head whips in your direction, a small smile creeping at the corner of his lips. You jog towards him, immediately throwing your arms around his neck while hugging him and keeping him close. "Woah." He chuckles, reciprocating the hug and wrapping his arms around your waist. "You okay?" He looks down at you, hand gently coming up to brush your hair back, to caress your cheek.
"Yeah."
"You sure?"
"I just really missed you." You mumble as you press your forehead against his chest. "I didn't hear from you all day and I wanted to text you, but I didn't because—"
"Y/N." He chuckles a bit, his breath visible in the air. "Slow down."
"I wanted to text you but I didn't wanna bother you."
"I'm sorry. I was busy, but I also wanted to surprise you." You look up at him. "I missed you, too." You let out a content sigh and pull away from him, hand still loosely holding onto his
"Did you?"
"I did." He kisses your knuckles. "And I'm here now, right? I'm not going anywhere."

Tumblr media
The dimly lit quarters provided a temporary sanctuary amidst the ceaseless chaos of the Clone Wars. Anakin Skywalker and you, both Jedi Knights, had just returned from another gruelling mission, and the weight of the galaxy's conflicts seemed to bear down upon you. But in this quiet moment, as the soft glow of the room's ambient lighting bathed you in a warm embrace, there was a respite from the battles and the burdens you carried.
As you stood in front of the mirror, preparing to follow your nightly routine, you retrieved a brush from the small vanity. The daily toils and hardships had taken their toll on you, and your hair was a tangled mess. It was a small act of self-care, a moment of normalcy amidst the chaos, and it brought you a semblance of peace.
Anakin, who was only wearing his pyjama pants and a silk robe that matched those pants perfectly, watched you from the bed, his eyes filled with adoration. He admired the grace and strength that radiated from you, even as you prepared for sleep. He couldn't help but feel grateful for these moments of intimacy that you both shared, moments that allowed you to be vulnerable and real in a galaxy that often demanded more than you could give.
With a tender smile, he rose from the bed and approached you. "Let me help you with that," he offered, his voice a gentle caress.
You turned to him, surprised but touched by his gesture. "Anakin, you don't have to."
He simply shook his head, a loving determination in his eyes. "I want to."
You nodded, your heart swelling with affection for the man before you. A smile that reflected the immense love you had for him adorned your face as you handed him the brush, and as you sat down on the edge of the bed, he took a seat behind you.
With practiced care and tenderness, Anakin began to brush your hair. His fingers worked through the tangles and knots with such softness and care, as if he was scared of hurting you by pulling slightly, his touch sending a shiver down your spine that expanded through the rest of your body. The gentle rhythm of the brush gliding through your hair was soothing, a loving gesture that spoke volumes.
As Anakin continued he couldn't help but be mesmerized by your presence. You closed your eyes, surrendering to the sensation. The room was filled with the soft rustle of the brush and the sound of his steady breathing, a comforting backdrop to this intimate moment. As he works his way through your hair, he breaks the silence, his voice filled with both intensity and tenderness.
"Y/N," he murmured, his breath warm against your ear, "in the middle of this galactic storm, you're the only constant thing in my life. You're like a blazing comet streaking through the chaos, leaving a trail of light in your wake; a comet that leaves no trail of the agony that existed before her."
His words, filled with love and sincerity, warmed your heart. The connection between you both deepened in that shared moment, a testament to the strength of your love amidst the challenges you faced.
When he had finished brushing your hair, he set the brush aside and leaned down to press a tender kiss to your neck. His arms wrapped around you, pulling you close, and you melted into him.
You turned your body to face him, both still on the bed made your way to the center so you both could be in a comfortable position. His eyes were locked with yours, in a silent conversation between souls, no words needed. Your left hand is now placed on his cheek as the other one goes to the back of his neck to bring him closer. As Anakin’s lips brushed against yours the entire galaxy ceased to exist.
The kiss deepened as his mouth pressed to yours with an intensity and passion that left no room, or doubt, he was in love with you; simply by the way your bodies reacted to each other. A fervent exchange of emotions that seemed to transcend the physical world, were expressed in this very moment. Anakin’s lips were warm and demanding, conveying a clear hunger for your love, a deep desire to hold onto this moment and make it last forever.
His hands were both warm and possessive, one placed on your waist as he brought you closer to his own body, while the other contoured your jaw with his fingers with a gentle yet firm touch. With something so small as your bare skin being touched by him, made the world around you fade into insignificance as the electric currents of desire surged between you.
Anakin’s breath mingled with yours a symphony of heartbeats and longing. His tongue sought entrance, and as your mouths danced together, the kiss intensified in emotion. Time seemed to stretch, allowing you to savour every moment of the kiss. The taste of his devotion to you, and the silent promises of a love that could conquer anything. In that kiss, you were lost in a universe of passion, where there was only you, him, and the overwhelming force of your love.
When the kiss finally broke, you both were left breathless, your lips tingling with the lingering connection. Anakin's eyes locked onto yours, his gaze filled with warmth and longing as your breaths were ragged, and your heartbeats echoed in the silence that followed. It was you who broke the silence this time, your voice filled with emotion.
"Anakin, I love you in a way I've never loved anyone before.” Your hand softly caresses his cheek as you continue talking. “It makes my heart beat from happiness to know I have you in my life, to have you as my partner.” You needed him to understand the intense feelings you felt when it came to him. So, before finishing, you cupped his face with your hands while smiling beamingly. “You're my strength, my protector, and the one who makes my heart race. I can't imagine my life without you."
"Y/N," he began, his voice a whisper, "you mean everything to me. When I'm with you, it's like the chaos of the galaxy fades away. You're the light in my life, the reason I keep fighting, and the force that keeps me grounded."  His fingers brushed a strand of hair from your face, his touch gentle. "Cherub," he continued, his voice growing more intense without raising the tone, "I would move galaxies, defy empires, and challenge fate itself for you. My love for you is boundless, and it will endure for all eternity."
Both of you were completely wrapped up in each other... Your foreheads lightly touched and you could see Anakin's beautiful smile spread across his face. You would give anything for him to never stop smiling. His eyes shined like bright stars, and just knowing that you had something to do with it made you want to explode with excitement.
He made you feel safe in a world full of mistrust, he made you feel loved in a world without trust. Moments like these genuinely allowed you to not only feel this on the inside, but also encouraged you to show him with words and actions how much you loved him. Anakin Skywalker is a complex human being full of dissonances and contradictions, but you knew that he would give anything for your well-being.  You leaned in to capture his lips in another tender kiss, one that sealed your unspoken vows, a promise of love that transcended the trials and tribulations of your Jedi lives.
In that moment, you both knew that no matter what the galaxy threw their way, your love would always be a guiding force, a beacon of light in the darkest of times.

KISS AND TELL ➳ C. SOOBIN
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
➙ synopsis: you and soobin had been best friends for as long as you could remember and during the course of your friendship you developed a crush on him. Could confessing be the right way to go?

"(Y/N)!!"
Not failing to recognise the voice, your door was busted open as Soobin excitedly ran into your room and leaped on top of you disrupting your once peaceful relaxation in bed.
"Geez Soob, you're so heavy dude." you groan in pain feeling his weight on you as he laughed.
Choi Soobin had been your best friend for the past eight years and over the time you managed to developed a small, tiny, itsy bitsy HUMONGOUS crush on him.
I mean who could possibly blame you, Soobin was adorable, funny, had the cutest chubby cheeks, pretty eyes, tall, handsome and had such a caring heart.
Just perfect.
"I just missed my best friend." he said giving you a tight hug not moving in the slightest no matter how much you tried pushing him off of you.
"Okay, now get off before I tickle you." you tell him still attempting to use all your strength to get him to let go.
"Say it back now or I'm not moving," he interjected as he lifts his head sticking his tongue out at you teasingly.
Feeling your cheeks heaten up at the close proximity you were both in, you mentally debate whether or not to say it back but decide to rather stay quiet having secretly enjoyed this affectionate side of his.
"So we're just gonna stay and cuddle like this?" you ask shyly as he nods with his head laid between the crook of your neck.
"Not unless you say it back, unless you didn't miss me," he tells you.
"Well ofcourse I missed you... now get off," you admit to which Soobin chuckles holding onto you even closer.
"No I'm good, it's more comfortable this way," he teases you as you only sigh in response.
It was the things like this Soobin did that made your heart want to beat right out of your chest.
He wasn't even actively flirting with you and yet he had you wrapped right around his finger.
You then slowly reached out your one hand to gently massage his head since you knew how much he enjoyed those and you both stayed laying in bed that way enjoying the comfortable silence.
Using your other free hand to busy yourself on social media, you soon found yourself scrolling through Tiktok and came across one challenge in particular which caught your attention.
'Kiss your best friend challenge'
You had seen a few people doing this challenge all over your feed, some being successful whilst others... weren't.
What was crazy was the fact that you were actually considering trying this with Soobin.
I mean there's absolutely no possible way he would even kiss back, all you were to Soobin was his best friend of many years and despite being happy with that title, you knew you wanted more out of it too.
Seemingly lost in thought, you're brought back to reality feeling Soobin poke your cheek.
"You okay? You zoned out for a good minute there," he asks poking your cheek again playfully as he showed his infamous dimpled smile.
"Huh? Oh uh, yeah, I'm okay Binnie. Just thinking." you tell him smiling softly to not worry him.
Could you ever really confess to him?
This challenge could either make or break your relationship with Soobin and you weren't sure you were ready to take that grand leap of faith that could change everything between you both.
Be it for the good or bad.
Honestly the logical side of you was saying no but your heart and intuition was saying you had to take the risk to see results.
And that's what you were going to do.
"Hey Soobin?" you called out to him as he hummed in response.
"Could I try this Tiktok with you?"
"What's the challenge?" he asks curiously sitting up as you did the same.
Setting up your ring light to use as a tripod, you then set the phone in front of where he was seated.
"Don't worry. You just need to sit next to me and look pretty like always."
You proceeded to set the timer and countdown and waited for the music.
Making your way back to him, you sit down next to Soobin and he awkwardly smiled looking at you signalling to ask what is going on.
The music started playing and you held Soobin's hands placing them around your waist as he looked at you completely confused.
"Here we go," you mumbled under your breath.
When the timing was right, you gently placed your hands on his face and leaned in to kiss him.
Just as you were prepared to pull away and deal with the rejection you were left baffled when he kissed back!
Smiling into the kiss, you felt his grip tighten around your waist as he laid you down on the bed hovering over you to deepen the kiss.
You then realise what just happened and pull away and jolt up from your position in the bed as your eyes widen in pure shock.
"W-what in the world just happened..." you mumbled to yourself as your fingers gently touched your lips.
Looking over at Soobin who was turning as red as a tomato, you excitedly hug him as he hugged you back.
Pulling away, you let out a deep breath before confessing, "I like you Soobin... a lot."
"I like you too (Y/n)... a lot." he tells you shyly as you both laugh at the turn of events.
Maybe making the Tiktok wasn't such a bad idea after all.
"How about I take you out on a real first date soon? But before that, I have a suprise for you in the kitchen." He says sheepishly smiling as he looks down.
How can someone this big be so adorable, he's such a baby.
"Well what are we waiting for then, let's go."
He then crouched in front of you and usually someone would be suprised at this but Soobin sometimes enjoyed carrying you on his back.
You then hopped on his back holding on tightly and went on your way to the kitchen.
Soobin then sat you down on the counter as he proceeded to then open the oven and showed you the tray of bread rolls.
"You made those?" you ask as the whiff of the freshly made bread hit your nose
"Yep, and obviously it wouldn't be fun to eat them alone so I thought we could enjoy them together." he says looking proud of how his baked goods turned out.
He looked through one of the cabinets searching for plates and he got two out so you could both evenly share the rolls.
You both casually conversed enjoying the bread Soobin had made and before you knew it, your plate had been cleared.
In all fairness Soobin did an amazing job, it all tasted amazing.
Although it did seem like Soobin had one left...
Slowly maneuvering your hand onto the plate whilst he wasnt paying any attention, you stole his bread roll and ran into your bedroom as he chased closely behind you managing to catch up.
"Yah! I know you stole my last bread roll!" he yelled as he tackled you trying to tickle you in an effort to get his bread.
Finally giving in, you gave Soobin his bread as you laid in bed trying to calm yourself down from all the intense laughing.
He broke the bread in half giving you a piece and he playfully rolled his eyes as you thanked him.
Placing a quick kiss to his cheek you watched him redden in suprise and you couldn't help but laugh at his reaction.
"I'm glad you did that Tiktok challenge." he says pulling you closer.
"Yeah?"
"Because now I can actually kiss you whenever I want."
Nodding in agreement you finally closed the gap between each other feeling his soft lips on yours once again.
This was a feeling you would definitely never get used to.
And it was all thanks to a Tiktok challenge.
All you had to do was kiss and tell

Severed Ties Part Two: Why You Came Back
Tumblr media
summary: Time heals all wounds and somehow, you will find your way back to each other. gn reader, no pronouns or y/n used. Part One: Why You Left feat: Brynjolf, Miraak, Erandur, Teldryn, Vilkas, Farkas, Rune, Arnbjorn warnings: none, bit longer than usual.
Between all your duties and missing Brynjolf, it took time to find a comfortable rhythm. There was no escaping each other even after you put an end to your romantic involvement, only breaks coming in the form of jobs halfway across Skyrim. Through everything you worked together to get the Guild back on its feet. You entrusted Brynjolf solely with its care when Nocturnal came calling, reminding you that the Skeleton Key’s rightful place was in her temple.  The Twilight Sepulcher drained your body and soul. Exhaustion sapped at your strength when you shuffled out, unsure how you were going to get back to the inn. Riften was another beast entirely. Chilly fingers shook at the prospect of your bed being so far away, ready to risk it all for a short nap in the forest.  Brynjolf was planted a few paces away, hood thrown back and worry in his eyes. Your heart stopped at the sight. You’d never seen him so far from Riften. He took one cautious step as if you were a wounded animal, like you'd bolt if he came too close.  Collapsing into his arms felt like home. Strong arms carried you when your muscles failed, tears springing into your eyes when he tucked you safely into his chest. You gulped back the words you hadn’t said in ages when he buried his nose in his hair, turning to carry you home. He'd left all duties behind to be there for you when you needed him most. “I promise, love. Nothing’s gettin’ in the way of you and I again. Sorry it took me so long.”
Tales of Miraak’s reign of terror over Solstheim slowed, the island calming and hesitantly returning to its normal life. It had been years since you’d left Apocrypha and you could only hope that he’d found the answers he’d wanted so badly or at least some form of peace. The last memory of him still pained you but you’d never forget it - robes wrinkled where he crouched over the ancient desk, eyes wild and fingers stained with dark ink.  Being back on Nirn was a blessing and a curse. You had settled quite easily into your life but there was a constant nagging need to hear every rumor about him, to keep up to date on what he was doing. Your home was comfortable but quiet, interrupted by a harsh knock on your door.  Seeing him again stopped your heart. His eyes were wide, blessedly free from the mania you’d come to know. The mask and gloves were gone, robes traded for simple armor. There he stood, the man who had forgotten you suddenly standing on your doorstep, that lovely voice saying words you’d craved to hear.  “I gave it all up. I gave up everything to stand here and ask you for another chance and I’d do it again in a heartbeat, My Dragon.”
You didn’t recognize him in such normal, simple clothes. Erandur, who lived in robes befitting a priest and Mara’s regalia, took the empty seat across from you in the tavern. His fingers quivered when he offered you a hand, hope bright in his eyes when he introduced himself.  “I had to come over here, I couldn’t stop staring. You’re stunning.” His attempt to sound nonchalant sent a nervous giggle bubbling out of you. “Can we put the past behind us and start over?” “Start over?” You didn’t release his hand and he didn't pull away, heart swelling when you saw his smile. All else was forgotten when you felt Erandur’s tattooed fingers climbing up your wrist.  “I am just a man who very badly wants to kiss someone he saw across the crowded tavern. Nothing more.”
A compromise. That’s what he’d proposed. Teldryn sat at your table, eyes sparkling when he took in the house you’d built. It was far from the bustling cities, trees insulating you from the noise of nearby farms. After parting from Teldryn it had become a safe haven from the rest of the world. You’d never admit that building it with your own hands was fueled mostly by spite.  He’d come with apologies and offers mingled together in a practiced speech. Some time at home, some on the road, all of it spent together. It was unsettling how easily you trusted him again after all the time spent apart. His helmet rested on the table when Teldryn met your eyes and for the first time he looked unsure of what to say. His mouth opened, closing again and you caught a glimpse of that annoyed furrow between his brows you’d missed. “I don’t think I’ll ever be ready to settle down in one place, but I could get used to this slow life with you. For a while.”
Loving Vilkas was easy, you’d never truly stopped. Learning to be gentle with one another was difficult. You struggled to learn how to look past your relationship and see Vilkas as more than your partner, acknowledging his role in the Companions. He worked on seeing you as more than his Harbinger, viewing you as his partner once again. It was a slow process - taking breaks and setting boundaries, but he was worth it.  During the day you worked, creating healthier avenues for conversation. At night you were partners, nothing more. No work talk was allowed between dinner and breakfast. In those evenings you found one another again, softening and loving each other as you had so long ago.  “Remind me, Harbinger. Am I permitted to kiss you during working hours? Are we allowed to sit this close, or are you worried I’ll distract you?”
Breezehome had been yours before Farkas entered your life. It was your refuge during the evenings when you couldn’t bear Jorrvaskr’s halls or the memories they held. A cool breeze whipped through your hair when you walked home, masking his footsteps until he appeared at your side. Neither one of you said a word when he took your hand, falling in step with you and allowing you to guide him to your doorstep.  It didn’t happen all at once. Rather, it was small changes that slowly altered your life. It took work for Farkas to summon the confidence to live for himself, extracting his sense of self worth from the Companions. You reminded him that it was a balance, leaving wasn’t permanent. Dinners were often spent in Jorrvaskr before retreating to the peace of your home.  “I didn’t think I was anything more than a fighter. Didn’t think anyone would want me to be more.”
Each day felt like a new opportunity for growth. You watched Rune from a distance hoping that he would make peace with his past. You didn’t want him to give up but it was too painful to love someone who lived entirely in the mysteries of what could have been, as if you were only allowed to love part of him.  Luckily, Delvin and Vex had an endless catalogue of tasks that no one else wanted to complete. Jobs in other holds, jewelry to be stolen in Whiterun and planted on some poor sap in Solitude, the occasional trip to confer with the Dark Brotherhood. All the travel was good for your mind, allowing you time to think through everything far from him. Falling into your cot you stared up at the Cistern’s ceiling. Watery light from the early morning sun reminded you that you’d stayed up all night again. It had been difficult to sleep with Rune cramped into your tiny bed but without him the space felt too empty. His footsteps were silent when he knelt beside your bed, his warm hand on your shoulder the only warning that he was there.  “I’ll never give up, not entirely. But it isn’t worth losing you over. Just give me some time, please don’t forget about me.”
Arnbjorn consumed your every thought. Despite your best efforts to appear cool and indifferent you couldn’t take another moment. It was fairly easy to avoid him during the day, but every evening you struggled to not look at him through dinner. After all the others had left in search of bed or prepping for their assignment you found yourself alone with him, a few drinks deep and blood heating under the weight of his gaze. Too drunk to be embarrassed by the stumbling way you explained how badly you wanted to be loved by him again, how deeply you wanted him to love you. You didn’t want to be a replacement for the love he’d lost. Cheeks burning and tears spilling you gasped out the least graceful declaration of love and how much you missed him.  Your name on his lips had never sounded better. Soothing kisses and careful hands sufficed when words failed. You knew he wasn’t comfortable vocalizing softer emotions. Arnbjorn’s lips were on your forehead, fists balled into his armor when you dragged him closer.  “Just need you to trust me, okay? It’s only you. My past is my past, no changin’ it. I just need some time but I promise it’s only you.”

OK. I did it anyway! Finished the translation and tried as best he could. Part 3
I have a lot of debt, but I did it!
Good ending attached. If you like the bad ending of this story then please stop at 2 parts.
There's also a bit of angst here, a mention of smut.
I listened to a bunch of songs while writing this. In fact, there was a gigantic temptation to make Leon's girlfriend run away again, but I decided to fix the broken hearts of readers.
English is not my native language (I will write this as often as possible so that I don't get tomato thrown at me for mistakes). But I tried.
The text is quite large. I do not know if anyone has the strength to master it.
Tumblr media
All efforts crumbled like a house of cards. All hopes that your relationship could still be saved were destroyed from the very day when you finally left, taking one suitcase with you.
For Leon, it was still an idiotic comedy that dragged on for a long time. He kept calling, texting, trying to talk to you about this misunderstanding. But you just cut him out of your life right away, without even giving him an attempt to explain everything.
But the comedy turned into a nightmare. Because Leon realized that you really left. A rather dirty game: to become the one who gave him peace and true love, and then in one second set fire to a small flowering island in his soul, leaving ashes behind.
Leon let you get too close to him. So close that he began to consider you his own. At some point, it even seemed to him that no one could love the way he loved you. But now you have turned the blue sky into black, discarding it as an unnecessary thing. Sometimes, stretching out his hand, lying on the bed, Leon woke up, thinking that since you are not around, then you are in the kitchen. You probably eat breakfast while looking at your phone.
But then he remembered.
You've gone. With tears, creating from his image a monster that hurt you throughout the relationship. You have done worse than Ada. It was a hundred times more painful. Leon knows it's crazy, but for just one night with you, he would give his life.
The only woman who has always been on his side. He wanted to feel the soft cotton of your gray T-shirt, but only your hands could be more gentle.
You have always been so pure that the world could be silenced by such innocence and angelic beauty. All the stars could go out if only something happened to you. You are a rare angel, in whose arms nothing hurts, who descended to him, to the last sinner, constantly fighting in an endless hell. Maybe someone decided that he received too much grace?
Leon would agree with that. But he's not ready to accept it. You said that you love him, despite the fact that he supposedly has feelings for Ada, and if he can convince you otherwise, then perhaps his beloved will return to him
But you didn't want to be in that cage. The whole situation with Leon, in your opinion, resembled the plot of Dolly Parton's song "Jolene", where Jolene is Ada Wong, whom you could beg not to take your lover. After all, as Jolene, Ada was the embodiment of an unearthly ideal. With a voice as soft as summer rain and with a smile like the breath of spring… Ha, you grinned remembering the words of the song.
What could you, a simple student, compare to this Ada-Jolene? Leon kept her compact in his bedside table and you still feel the reproach of envy that you will never become such a woman. You still cry when you think how many times he imagined an elusive mercenary in your place. But your happiness does not depend on Ada. You were able to find the strength to open the birdcage and run out to freedom, breathing in fresh air.
Leon used you. Crushed your heart into a piece of paper and threw it into the fire like the last scoundrel. But here you took out a burnt ember, intending to take care of it and already now you see that the first sprouts of trust in other men break into the light. However, love is not knocking at your door yet.
Because there is one huge problem: no matter how much pain Leon caused you, you want to leave him in your memories. Salty rivers of tears flow down your eyes almost every night, forcing you to curl up in the fetal position with your hands pressed to your chest when you read his messages. These are such ruthless blows that literally destroyed your soul. He's already traumatized you enough, so why doesn't he stop it already?!
The whole body and soul are screaming: help me! And the mind doesn't want to forget his fucking name and touch. You can't go back to Leon Scott Kennedy because he will bring nothing but evil. Say to yourself and remember forever: goodbye, my love for this man, because my heart can no longer bear this sick love.
You met in the spring and broke up in the spring. How much joy and sadness this time of year has brought you!
How much pain there is in the world, and all because of fucking love.
But for Leon it was completely different.
It was the middle of the day, when the sun was still high in the sky, promising to illuminate the streets with its light for at least another three or four hours. Late autumn time, Leon didn't want to get out of his mostly, alcohol-smelling apartment, but he had to write a report and hand it over to Hannigan, despite the overdue deadlines. To gather his thoughts a little for an answer, Leon went into a nice cafe, hiding from the strong wind, hoping that in addition to all kinds of desserts, he could order coffee to take away.
Ordinary strong coffee without sugar and hopes that it will not taste like bile.
The arrival of a new visitor was announced by a ringing bell, to the ringing of which the waiter immediately raised his head from his business. Leon was not going to linger, he walked past the tables with a few visitors until the familiar smell of women's perfume hit his nose.
And stopped.
He forgot about everything: Hannigan, the report, his job. About everything that brought him pain from your departure, because right now you were sitting with your back to him in a warm beige dress, holding a glass with some kind of drink with one hand and writing something in your notebook with the other pen, completely ignoring anyone.
All Leon wanted at this very second was to grab you in his arms and never let you go again.
How did this even happen? Why did you, loving him dearly, renounce him in an instant?
And yet your mere presence lifts him from the thorn-strewn earth. Only a meter separated you from each other, but Leon is already burning to the ground. It didn't matter if you were an angel or a demon, you were his love. His restless bird that flew away from him because it could. Because you believed he could still love another woman.
You look like two fools, each of whom believes in his own truth.
You were so serene, calm and nondescript to others. Strawberry ice cream almost melted from lack of your attention or you just didn't find it tasty enough to finish. Leon completely forgot why he came to this cafe. Illuminated by the evening sunlight, you looked like a work of art that you were so fond of.
A slight smile, careless strokes of a strange drawing in a notebook…you looked tired and a little thinner, but for him you remained the most beautiful. Aesthetic - Leon remembers that you like this word.
Did he have the right to disturb you? Like a mirage, Leon didn't want to scare away the one he loved because he knew if he touched you now, you would disappear again. Messages, calls - there were many of them and not one received a response.
If his love really brought you so much suffering, do you need it? Is he really that selfish? But now you tensed up, feeling someone else's gaze on your back, and as if small droplets of crystals began to beat anxiously against each other like wind music warning about who you are desperately trying to get out of your head.
But there was no soulful cry of "run."
You knew he was there. Behind. The heart did not stop with horror - it trembled with excitement. God, don't turn around! So much was lost because of Leon: dreams, hopes, trust, heart…
The palette of the endless emptiness of weekdays turned into slightly brighter colors.
Leon touched your shoulder and you shuddered lifting your head up. It was impossible to ignore this meeting and there was nowhere else to run. His touch was so welcome. The body responded to him by itself, trying to cling closer to feel the forgotten warmth. It was so good.
Suddenly you felt like a drug addict who received a long-awaited dose of the drug.
The purest buzz.
You still didn't say anything, just stared into those diamond eyes, completely losing yourself. By looking at it, you can experience all kinds of death. You wanted to finally surrender to him, submit and accept the inevitable, and then fall asleep in a tight embrace - all for the sake of the illusory hope of not being number 2.
What idiot said that time heals? There wasn't a night or a day when you didn't think about him.
You want to tell everyone to go to hell, and yourself first, because you're the last fool. A proud fool who can't live without him. Damn pride. Leon took a step forward, swallowing loudly, grabbing your shoulder with his other hand, but it didn't hurt. He looked at you as if he was afraid that you would melt into thin air.
You love each other very much, and each of you thinks that one of you does not love the other.
In an instant, everything collapsed in November. Leon knelt down, still squeezing your shoulders. Curse this month. He pressed you to him and you buried your face in his shoulder, inhaling the smell of a leather jacket and barely perceptible cologne. The stubble scratched the skin unpleasantly, but now these sensations were so pleasant.
If Leon doesn't disappear right now, it's going to be the worst month on the calendar. An unhappy month that will leave another stab wound. Your first true love and not a stupid infatuation…Whatever Carey says, it's impossible to forget Leon. There is no longer the strength to drown in it, grasping at a thin thread of feeling.
"Let's talk" - you're definitely a drug addict. His voice was like heroin causing euphoria. Rough and stringy at the same time. The infernal rejection started from him again.
The waiter's voice sounded like a soft soprano, and Leon reluctantly pulled away from you, but did not let go, as if he was afraid that you would jump up from your seat and run away, grabbing your coat. The lungs let out a heavy sigh, but you didn't want to talk to him. It was as if you were afraid that he would have words that would make you return to this anarchy of abnormal relationships. When he loves one woman and sleeps with a completely different one.
"I don't want to, go away," - you whispered, pushing him away with your palm. It was a terrible gesture. But you endured for a long time, accepting his lies, running after him like an obedient dog.
Love is not when it hurts you. And he mocks you and jokes, building those puppy dog eyes. He pretends that this separation is also hard for him. As if he wasn't a soulless being who took advantage of the trust of a girl in love with him.
But the idiotic heart keeps shouting to him, "Love me for a long, long time!" and Leon seems to hear him.
Leon grins, feeling butterflies flutter in his stomach. How many bridges can you burn?
But he strokes your head, runs his fingers through your hair.
"We'll just talk. Please stop ignoring me!"
"Stop foaming at the mouth to prove to me that the mysterious spy in red does not live in your head."
Keep your finger on the pulse and run. After paying for lunch, you grabbed your coat and walked briskly to the exit. And only when Leon caught up with you on the street, trying to stop you by grabbing your wrist, you turned into a scorpion who tried to escape using all his poison.
It's the same thing again.
"You're the worst thing that's ever happened in my life!"- that's what you finally shouted out to him along with all the other shit, but it was this phrase that killed him completely. The gaze seemed to read information from your face, as if checking it for truthfulness. The fucking detector gave out the truth.
"Someone like you never knew what love was. You know what's funny? To Ada Wong, you're just a puppet. A toy that she can play with whenever she wants, and then put it on the shelf and forget." - You poured out your burning poison, turning words into caustic acid to kill him once and for all, despite your tear-stained face. - "That's enough! I will never forgive you! Run after your elusive spy and leave me alone. I deserve to be happy. I'm already broken inside by your fucking love!"
It wasn't fair. You just tore him apart with those words. He's never even half loved you, he's never compared you to anyone! But nothing will bring you back to him. You will no longer illuminate his pitch darkness with your light. Leon really felt like a bastard who trampled on someone who loved him.
He stood there, looking after you, listening to your hysterical sobs, while you ran away again to lick the wounds inflicted. It seemed like you were about to fall to the ground and die from all this pain. All those months that you have not seen him, in no way helped you to stop loving this man. Because things have only gotten worse.
You wanted to lie down and die. Everything you were rebuilding exploded again, turning you into ruins. Ada Wong would never have allowed herself to do that. But the pain you felt became physical. Your head is spinning, the world has become so crazy and alien, sickeningly disgusting, because all the protective mechanisms of orgasm just fail you after all the continuous work. You just screamed from all the injustice that happened to you, and the name of this injustice was Leon S.Kennedy. The fucking bastard who caused you to fall into the mud, acting like an escaped lunatic.
"I hate you," - Leon heard it. The most terrible thing is that he realized that he was destroying you. Your body was experiencing physical pain - spasms, and you already needed professional help. And yet he cradled you like a baby in his arms until you fainted.
One thing you didn't have time to say: despite the fact that you were burning alive, your stupid little heart continues to seek salvation in Leon. It hurts her, but she calls him for help, begging for caring kisses and warm hugs.
What does it feel like to be a girl with a sensitive heart and a brave soul? The moment you discovered that he still loves Ada made you split into many pieces. Lying in a hospital bed, taking medications whose names you don't remember, you heard your mother's muffled crying and fell asleep under it, pulling the blanket over your shoulders, as if under a white noise. Your father stroked your head as if you were a child, slightly dulling the pain that was pounding in your chest.
"You will be sad and forget" - that's what your mother told you when she found out that the cause of the disease was a man. "You won't even remember that you once loved him there."
But you didn't want to forget him. You're so tired of falling asleep thinking about him… because even when you close your eyes like a phantom, you continue to see him. How can you live with this poison in your soul? Leon poisoned you and didn't even send you flowers, considering that he got you into the hospital because of him. And yet part of you was waiting for him to come.
Leon didn't come.
Nervous breakdown on the background of constant stress. Friends also came to find out about your well-being, but only Carey stayed for a long time, trying to pull you out of oblivion, which the brain could not cope with.
She didn't say a word about Leon, fearing that any mention of him would provoke a violent reaction again. Everyone kept saying that everything would be fine and you'd be coming home soon. Did you really feel a little better, but did you feel depressed just thinking about what would happen next? Your beloved friend disappeared as you wanted.
It is in vain to grieve about a failed relationship that was still beautiful, despite the subsequent horror.
"It was wonderful. Goodbye, Leon," you said to yourself when you found a little strength to admit that he is not a monster at all. Time is fleeting, and nothing lasts forever, and you are also unlucky to find happiness in this man.
Drive all thoughts of him away and remember that you are no longer the two of you. Find the strength to learn to live without him and suppressed the passionate feeling of rushing to him under the door banging on it with his fists.
Burn this brand on yourself.
In fact, even in the void can be cozy. When the day of discharge came, your father insisted that you come home again and recover a little from the experience. But you knew that if you came home, you would never erase Leon from your memory. If there was a record with his name on it, you would have listened to it until I broke it.
It's like you've been living in a dark paradise now. There are no medications for memory, but the ones that you started taking clearly muffle all feelings, allowing you to focus on studying. It was quiet and cold in this dark paradise because Leon wasn't there, but you still remembered how your pain-filled body fell to the floor. And yet there was one significant plus that allowed you to live - it was peaceful in this paradise.
And yet, as if you were a lost thing on the shelf, it did not leave you.
November is a really disgusting month. The whole world seemed to be turned upside down. There was the usual calmness with the absence of something important.
But then stability came.
You and Leon don't talk anymore. Apparently, what was said greatly influenced him, but the flowers in your soul still do not bloom. His love for you is still breathing and part of him knows that you love him, but he will prefer to give you a chance to forget him and all the memories associated with him, given how he hurt your soul.
He would like to stay in your life, but not after what he did.
Therefore, he was content with what was left to him. Polaroids from your vacation with him and memories…and some things that you forgot at his place. Meaningless little things, but he kept them. Everyone focused on their lives. You were riding with friends on a bike, exposing your face to the wind, hugging a friend. Leon is back from his work. And everyone missed the other.
But there is no desire to fall into this abyss anymore. Then it was time for healing, it seemed that the impossible was happening, but fate desperately liked to bring your roads together.
Your face is a real masterpiece against the background of daubs. Among the hundreds, Leon noticed you with your bestia when you were choosing some kind of gift, he looked at you from afar.
The cradle of his suffering… Leon feels like he is filled with love for you again, watching you laugh merrily after recovering from all the wounds that he inflicted on you. So cheerful… he had no right to be with you. With the people he values, something happens all the time, but this time he himself is the one who repeatedly stabbed in the back.
You never blamed Ada for your failure, only him, and it was deserved, because until the moment of your loss, Leon still found these meetings… more personal and intimate even if sex between them has not been for a long time. Just something else attracted him, but he would never let ordinary attraction destroy what he really loves.
However, that's exactly what he did. A stupid compact left somewhere in the corner of the bedside table, which he still had from China… you made the wrong conclusions by backing them up with that inappropriate message on his phone and it was still enough to leave him forever. But now you were laughing and it warmed Leon, how he wants to hear this sound again at home, along with numerous words of tenderness.
It was not worth looking at you for so long because some force pulling each other forced you to find this gaze from which you can die and rise again. Everything beautiful has remained very far away. None of you will say a simple "hello" to the other, and yet why are you silent like fools?
Thanks to the pills, all the senses were dulled a little, allowing a stupid thought to slip into your head - to talk to him.
The doctor prescribed you treatment: medications, rest and moderate physical activity, and somewhere between the lines he wrote in invisible ink "no Leon Kennedy." And you're drowning in this swamp again, violating all the doctor's orders. It doesn't hurt yet, but it's already scary to exhale if you stumble, fall into the water and have to start over.
These silent glances with each other… everyone is afraid to take an extra step, because everything can collapse. Leon doesn't want to be the cause of your tears, he's already brought enough shit to a dear person. Everything beautiful has remained very far away. None of you will say a simple "hello" to the other, and yet why are you silent like fools?
Thanks to the pills, all my senses were dulled a little, allowing a stupid thought to slip into my head - to talk to him. You said a lot to him that day, a lot of things he didn't really deserve, trapping him.
But only now are you wondering: did you notice any moments correctly or did you come up with a reason for leaving? After all, sometimes you could catch the scent of someone else's perfume on his clothes and still believe that there is only him and you. Maybe Ada marked it on purpose so that you could figure out who it really belongs to? What if it was her subtle sign for you?
"Stay away from my territory"
But there was another truth. Your bestie got distracted looking at some jewelry in the window when you watched Leon leave. Have you ever wondered who is a masochist God or is it you? It looks like it was you, because no god forced you to follow him. And Leon felt this persecution, which made him turn around when he saw your indecisive face.
You yourself took a step towards him, and the heart itself began to revive after a long hibernation. The truth is, you had no idea what to say.
It was you who wiped away his tears when he was in too much pain.
It was you who banished all his fears when he woke up in the middle of the night.
You were holding his hand. Not Ada.
"I'm sorry…" You nodded for some reason. - "I'm not… princess… this is a chance meeting. I didn't want to bother you, so you wouldn't think about me.
"I know." - Leon barely heard what you said to him, looking away from his eyes. "I'm sorry for what I said to you then.
"What?" - his reaction made your lips smile with a kind smile that he could not forget. Leon seemed really discouraged, but you just turned around to look at Carey to make sure she wouldn't go crazy when she saw who you were talking to. Definitely, it's all because of the pills.
"I said you were the worst thing that happened in my life, but that's not true. In fact, I only told you a lot because I wanted you to be as hurt as I was. However, I shouldn't have done that. You're a good man. I behaved terribly, like a naughty child."
Leon couldn't understand what had just happened to him. His pupils seemed to widen at the impossible words and your ridiculous apologies. After all, if anyone should be apologizing, it's him, because he drove you to a nervous breakdown. He shook his head, just in case checking to see if you were a figment of his imagination, but you were still standing there. Right in front of him. Was what was happening a prank?
Maybe it's karma?
"You don't have to apologize" - all Leon could squeeze out of himself and you just shrugged your shoulder for a long time without answering anything.
"I apologize for saying too much. It's my fault that I ended up in the hospital, not yours. But I'm not apologizing for that…" Ada's name stuck in throat.
"For leaving?" - Leon grinned when you silently agreed with him. - "At least you had the right to. I don't want to hurt you anymore. You've had enough of me already. "
He wanted to touch you. Just to touch your cheek or hand one last time. He didn't want to let you go, but he knew he couldn't keep around if you didn't want to. Leon snorts, trying to shake off this desire. What kind of kisses can we talk about if you don't love him? All hopes for at least some stability in his life burst like a balloon, and Leon himself held the needle in his hands.
"Thank you for your wonderful attitude!" - You shoot him again, saying these words, and Leon recoils from the one he was so eager to see. - "Even if we didn't succeed, I'm still grateful to you. The last few months have been difficult, but it's my own fault. You didn't promise me anything… I've had time to think. With this Ada, everything is much more complicated and longer for you than with me, and I probably didn't want to admit it to myself. I put on pink glasses and didn't want to see anything but pink shades. You didn't need my heart, and you told me about it at the very beginning, but that's how young she is…" - You laughed nervously, feeling that the effect of the pills seems to be starting to evaporate. - Someone has watched too many movies about love. Forgive me for these tantrums if you can."
Carey screamed loudly and you both turned around at her exclamation when she pulled you by the hand trying to take you away from this man. It even amused you a little, but something still pleased your poor soul more - you were able to admit to yourself that your fault was present in this breakup. Not just Leon.
Leon didn't have time to say a word, but it was in vain for him to be sad. You have forgiven him and yourself. It was the most important event that finally brought a bit of long-awaited relief.
There was only one thing you didn't want to understand, either the brain was using a dirty autosuggestion technique, or it was the pills that dorktor prescribed for you. but the point is this:
Kennedy needed your heart. He needed your love, because everything he had, he had already given to you.
He should have apologized, not you. He wanted to come to the hospital to pick you up, but changed his mind at the last moment, fearing that his presence would complicate the situation. And yet Leon followed you to the exit when Carey shouted at him not to dare approach.
It seems that this is the reason for your separation . The one who hammered into you the idiotic idea that you were his "meat for fucking".
But you are no longer running away from him, however, is it really necessary to break into an already destroyed world again, where he destroyed everything. Leon no longer leaves messages, does not call and does not look for a meeting, and you also began to live quietly feeling only constant fatigue and unwillingness to do anything. And it didn't work out with the guys, there were friends, but it didn't go beyond fun gatherings, even if they tried to flirt.
Looks like your heart still belongs to Leon. For him, it's probably a souvenir, and you have a hole in your chest.
Do you remember that bar where we met for the first time? Now, sitting at the same table, you're looking at the place where Leon was with some damn expensive bottle of whiskey. Without thinking about anything. You straightened your legs and just indulged in sweet memories that no longer caused any harm. It's a little sad, but you're still too young to be disappointed in yourself.
Previously, there was some kind of vigorous cocktail of disappointment, hatred, sadness and contempt inside, but now there is absolutely nothing. It's like you finally got a sobering slap in the face, returning to your former state and admitting that suffering is shit.
Was there any point in talking to Leon? He's probably already broken up with his feeble-minded girlfriend and now he's either found another one or is chasing Ada-their favorite cat-and-mouse game. Of course, he really has some part of your cosmetics left in his apartment, a favorite mug, maybe something else… oh! a notebook. What a stupid thing, because there was nothing important in this notebook except funny drawings and a list of products. Well, maybe something else in small things. Leon probably threw everything away a long time ago.
Although you would like to return the mug.
The mug that he gave you with an idiotic inscription.
You unlocked your phone and saw some excited messages from your father. After quickly answering them, you clicked on Leon's number. Just one click separated you. You could have texted or called, but you spat and just put the phone back in your pocket. It would be necessary to delete his number.
And he still has your damn expensive perfume. It is not like the one used by Ada Wong - her fragrance is dominated by fresh citrus notes combined with something cold. A grenade? You liked calmer floral scents. Lilac and gooseberry have a good aroma.
And you would have torn it off with your own hands. Because the bottle cost a lot of money, and was in a limited collection. For some reason, now you remember him and it became so insulting that you lost such an expensive thing (even if Kennedy bought it for you again). But it's still a damn stupid reason to look for a meeting with him!
In general, you should have been kicked out of his head too. Leon kept your things close on purpose but didn't touch them. One part of him hoped that you would remember them and come to pick them up, and the other party was afraid that then he would have nothing left. The last memories will be gone. He loved flipping through your notebook, finding funny the drawings you made while you were sitting at boring lectures.
He doesn't care, he knows that you liked this perfume, and he also knows that you can't afford such a luxury right now. It's a shitty act to look for a meeting with you again when all the dots are already set.
Even though he wants to see you, can he really let you go later?
However… he wants to write to you. Fingers are already typing a message when an alert with your number and a short phrase appears in front of the screen: Can I pick up some things?
Holy shit! YES!
Leon answered immediately. The usual "yes" despite the fact that everything inside was screaming. A couple of minutes later, another message came asking when you could do it and he wanted to answer in a sarcastic manner, what exactly is for you at any convenient time.
But the line came out the usual "when you want, then take it." Maybe it was a little rude.
Nothing else followed. Leon had no idea when to expect you. Apartment was in terrible condition. In addition, there was your wilted cactus on the computer table. Cactus. Wilted. Maybe because his hostess collected all the belongings and left forgetting him?
Leon didn't know how to take care of him at all. Just poured half-drunk water into a small flower pot, and that's it. The flower that grew on it has long disappeared, and the cactus itself has turned yellow. He turned the pot over in his hand, looking at it from all sides, wondering if it could be fixed somehow in a short time, but decided that if it really upset you, he would buy exactly the same one.
At least to make it up to you a little.
After about an hour of thinking, there was a quiet knock on the door. Leon, casting a cursory glance once again at the unfortunate cactus, let you into the apartment pretty quickly, but you stood there for a few more seconds as if you were afraid to enter the lion's den, which would certainly bite off your head if he crossed the threshold of the apartment.
"Hey," - Your hand waved nervously in the air as a greeting when you were here again, afraid of being captured by your own memories.
Leon only apologized for the mess (although he managed to clean up some things while you were just standing outside the door for about 30 minutes, gaining strength to knock) and offered you tea, knowing how much you love him. A great opportunity to find out what happened to your favorite mug, but you refused first of all by casting a glance at the withered plant.
"I watered him from time to time." He hesitated, scratching his head with his hand. - "Maybe he needed fertilizer, but I didn't know anything about it, especially since it's a cactus!.. Okay sweetheart, just let me buy you a new one or something.
Your laughter slightly diluted the gloomy atmosphere, and Leon clearly felt better.
"It's all right." - A small pot appeared in your hands with the intention of taking it and then throwing it away. - "To be honest, this guy has been sick for a long time. Eventually, he still fell to the death of the brave."
You smiled wearily, making some kind of hero out of a cactus, and your ex-boyfriend also picked up the cheerful mood, lowering his head as he leaned back against the bar, watching his angel take the last thing he had left from this relationship.
Leon compares this to the fact that you gave him the strongest and most beautiful wings when you agreed to be with him. Something truly pure and bright, which allowed him to fight with bioweapons, only for the sake of you and your kind. And now with relentless cruelty you are tearing these wings along with the spine. As the most severe punishment for a mistake.
You silently gather your things, trying not to let your hands shake as Leon watches your actions, fighting the urge to try to stop you again.
Inside, it feels like a guitar string is breaking or sad chords are playing in the soul. One sentence: All gone. You will be left behind, like another experienced chapter of his life, but the fact that the pages of this chapter were full of sincere joy only makes it worse.
Leon's eyes are on the lookout for anything that might help you change your mind. Turn the pages of the book of life a little back and rewrite the plot, correcting this misunderstanding. Although luck is not on his side again.
How to regain lost trust?
It was hardly possible. He could show you those messages from Ada, try to prove that the powder box has been in the trash for a long time, but would you believe him?
He called you by your name as you put the rest of your cosmetics in your bag, thinking that Leon didn't have anything particularly important from your things left. Of course, you turned around meeting with those eyes in which if you look for a long time you can drown, but now only Leon was choking of the two.
"You said then that I didn't promise you anything. it was true, I didn't really make any promises. No vows that I want a family, children and everything else that normal people have, since my work does not imply their presence." - Leon moved to a safe distance so you wouldn't feel uncomfortable. Unlike you, even when under stress, he was well oriented and adjusted to the situation, because your eyes were already watering. - "I don’t understand at all what you saw in me that you fell in love with so much, but it was not non-reciprocal. Maybe I didn't say much, but I meant it. These gifts, trips, dinners in restaurants..."
"In your words, I became like a gold digger who managed to find a rich fool." - You interrupted him with a loud squelching nose.
"What?... oh no! Fuck... I didn't mean it. I just know I screwed up. I have a whole carload of problems that I didn't want and don't want to involve you in. Ada - is in this carload . You are right, a lot connects me with her and the story is very long, but believe me, this is not at all what I really want. When I was 21, it was damn interesting. I was attracted to her for many years until that outbreak in Lanshiang. I won’t lie, we met not only on missions, but also after them; Ada has repeatedly saved and helped me; I will not lie and say that I have never had sex with her, but! There is a huge difference between the usual attraction to each other and really sincere feelings. And you were never fucking meat to me!" - Leon raised his voice, but not to hurt you. These crystal blue eyes resembling ice, no matter how paradoxical it may sound, could melt the heart of anyone. He was the one who could turn you into a puddle in seconds. - "From the moment you agreed to be with me, I had no relationship with Ada other than working. Even in my thoughts. We have our own style of communication - it's true. Flirting and banter, but when you showed up…I didn't need anything else."
"Nevertheless, you have loved her for more than ten years. It's not an attachment anymore, Leon. It's weird that I have to explain this to you." - There was no longer that stone in your chest that prevented you from speaking. You felt like a kind of abbess who reveals the truth to the boy standing in front of you (who was much older). - "We managed to get into all this dirt like this…"
"Was our relationship dirt for you?" - You looked up at him. You could clearly see the experience, pain and sadness. As if what happened broke him completely. Leon frowned, waiting for your long answer. - "I haven't always been open with you, and yes, you deserve a younger guy. Someone from your college or just a nice man your age. But you really were the best episode in my life, despite the fact that things weren't always smooth between us."
"It's not about me" - The lip gloss that you were restlessly twisting in your hands all this time finally fell out, rolling to Leon's feet, as if it was a sign to finally approach him, but you were afraid of getting burned again.- "Understand me… I want to be loved. For real. I'm not a fool either, although you probably think I am…"
"I never thought that about you. Naive, careless - yes. But you always had enough brains."
"Women like Ada Wong… -" you kept trying to ignore Leon's gaze. - "You can't get them out of your head. A kind of fatal beauty, capable of hitting any man to death. Such women have no rivals, and you do not consider it an insult, but she chose you, which means that you belong to her forever. However, you don't mind, do you? If I were you, I wouldn't be able to resist her either."
"Yes… - Leon smiled very unpleasantly, sitting down on the edge of the bed, throwing you your lip gloss, which you managed to catch and throw into a gym bag. - "Manipulation; constant concealment of information; a rather specific concept of "relationship". We've been lovers for a long time-I won't deny it, besides, it doesn't make sense. But I'm telling you the truth: you've become everything to me. As I could, I showed my love and care. Trust me, sweetheart , when you get into the same shit year after year, not knowing if you'll live to see the next day… well, it's a bit tedious. With Ada BEFORE YOU, I had some stability. The stability of our crazy meetings, yes, I had feelings. Until I realized that all this is fucking nonsense and it's not love at all, but an ordinary attachment to a person I've known for many years. And it was never love."
"More than ten years…" - Leon shook his head when you said those words one by one, slowly, as if savoring each. - "If you wanted to stop everything, you would stop it, but she is really a part of you that you will never let go. She occupies a big place in your heart, and I don't want to sit on the bench at all, so that during your next break you come to me. Don't you think it's unfair to me and my feelings?"
You trembled. The nerves began to give up again and the fingertips began to go numb, covered with a sticky cold sweat. Trying to listen to your own feeling, you only heard the frantic beating of your heart and the blood pounding in your ears. In some ways, it resembled a pre-fainting state. Part of you knew that Leon wouldn't do anything wrong, and the other part was terrified of the conversation going on.
You urgently needed to grab something to distract yourself. But most of the things were already in the bag.
On the other hand, it was hard to tell what Leon was thinking. His eyes focused on one point-you. A mixture of misunderstanding, irritation and bitterness in one bottle. He got the feeling that you were trying to convince him to believe your own lies, because during the time that you were together, Leon never gave a reason to think that there was someone third in his life.
But you felt something that you wanted to tell him against your better judgment for a long time. This is what you started falling asleep with when you first started suspecting him of cheating, despite the fact that it was very stupid.
"I thought my love was enough for you and me. I was ready to forgive you for the first mistake, Leon. I thought I could be irreplaceable for you, but now I realize that I'm not her equal."
"God, can you hear yourself?" - Leon ran his hand through his hair pulling it back, sincerely tired of explaining the same thing to you. As if you really were…blunt.
However, he didn't need to tell you, you yourself understood what he was thinking. And yes, it was stupid to come here again. You're really dumb.
"The conversation reached a dead end." - you continued to collect the rest of the things, once again capitulating to him.
"You're leading him to a dead end!" - Leon jumped up from his seat, shouting loudly at the top of his voice. You recoiled to the side, away from his formidable figure, next to which your own seemed very tiny. Your subconscious was still saying "don't be afraid," but your instincts were afraid of any violence. He could scream, he could hit… Leon never did this, it was the lowest act for him to hit another (unless circumstances require it), and disputes were generally resolved by ordinary conversation. You knew he could raise his voice, but Leon chose to leave before he reached boiling point. - "What else do I have to tell you to make you believe me?"
Your heart sank. But stand still. The commanding tone of the inner voice told you to resist, and apparently the small iron makings of your father's character were passed on to you. As a last resort, you quickly glanced towards the door, holding a bag in your hands, figuring out a plan in case of escape, and Leon noticed your strange behavior. Disappointed once again. In myself or maybe already in you? Do you really think he's such a monster?
"Why the fuck are you shaking so much?" - It wasn't funny anymore. Leon snatched the bag and threw it with all his might into a corner, not caring about the fragile contents. - "One big quarrel and I became the son of a bitch who beat you up or what? I'm not an angel, and with all my adoration, you're not a gift either! But did I hurt you at least once?!
"Yes!" - In a fit of emotion, you screamed, closing the distance with one big step. Leon chuckled. He meant physical pain, not mental pain. - "You hurt me. And it's still hard for me to live with this wound. I screwed up too. You know, I'm not the only loser here! And this is not a quarrel! You're a fucking jerk who still can't figure out his feelings. You didn't promise me shit, and it's my mistake that I came up with a big love for you ! But no one who has a conscience and respect for a partner will keep a compact of an ex-girlfriend and correspond with her in a joking manner. For some reason, my father does not allow himself to do this. No truly loving man will ever allow himself to do this! And instead of at least admitting the obvious, you convince me of something else! Tell me, Leon, if I did this to you, would you want to keep talking? Would you be able to trust me? "
"This shit has been lying there for a fucking cloud of time. I've already forgotten about her!"
Now both of you have switched to raised tones. You weren't scared anymore. The anger inside you was growing, erasing absolutely all the feelings that had been blunted before. Now you wanted to be fucking rude to him again, and that's probably what he liked about you. Leon even suspected that you would flare up like a match and be able to hit him.
"Forgot about the messages too?!"
"Fuck..." - It was unbearable to fight with you. Like a stubborn sheep who believed a stupid fool - his damn friend Carey. Leon pulled his phone out of his pocket and opened a message chat with Ada. There was no government information there, so he turned the screen to your face so that you could see what was written months earlier. But you didn't even look. Until Leon grabbed your wrist and put the smartphone in your hand. - "Look, read it since you're so sure that I still love Ada. It already seems to me that you are crazy about her".
Stubbornness was not always the best trait of your character, so you pressed the button on the side of the screen and just put the phone on the bedside table, making it clear that you would not stoop to such baseness to dig into other people's things. You also had a sense of your own worthiness.
"What happened?" - Leon croaked, taking a step forward. - "You wanted proof-I gave it to you."
"I don't want anything anymore Leon"
Only one thought was spinning in your head like a gear, "In vain. You shouldn't have come! Nobody got better from the fact that you disturbed this wound by reopening it." And yet you lied to yourself first of all. Leon's anger is caused by your disbelief, but even in a fit of the most terrible rage, he never did anything to you. Although you definitely felt uncomfortable from the tense atmosphere that had developed, where almost sparks were flying around the room, you still kept well with your arms crossed on your chest.
You needed Leon. You still wanted to love him and hugging a pillow at night you imagined that you were hugging him. But agreeing to be a fallback is also not in your style. There will still be a drop of pride for this.
So you just went to your bag, trying to pick it up to pick up the last belongings and leave, but Leon grabs your wrist. No pain. A firm grip is like a call to stop and give him a few more tries before he lets you go forever.
And you freeze, yielding to your instincts that purr sweetly from the slightest intimacy with this man. I wonder if Leon feels your pulse beating wildly? He lets go of your hand, biting his lower lip, and God, how you want to reach out to him to remember again what it's like to be his lover…
"So you came here just to break my heart again?" - his palms rested on your face, forcing you to look at him. For a second you suffocated drowning in the fragrance of his body and losing your mind looking into those eyes again. It's like they were pulling the soul out of you. - "Which of us is hurting the other more? First you reject me by running away for two months, then you pack up and say you never want to see me, but now you're coming back again… Of the two of us, who is the greater sadist?"
Your cheek pressed against his palm. A wave of heat spread throughout your body in small electrical discharges, as if you had taken a heavy intoxicating drug that turned you into clay in his hands. Leon pressed his forehead against yours, closing his eyes so that you could listen to the steady breathing and you were so waiting for the last kiss. At least a light touch of his lips…
Maybe in fact the main villain of this story was not Leon at all, but you yourself?
"I do not know," - somehow you whispered barely audible. Despite your closeness, you weren't sure Leon heard. -" I'm completely confused"
His bangs fell over your eyes, which made you smile a little.
"Do you want to leave?" - A question that made the body shudder with fright. As if you didn't want him to ask it to you, because an inner voice kept saying "no" and common sense began to doubt the correctness of the decisions made earlier. - "I don't want to let you go, but I can't forcibly hold you either. I really love you no matter what you think of yourself there, and it doesn't matter whether you believe me or not."
"I want to believe you but" - the voice trembled like a string. You lowered your gaze, trying to blink away the hateful tears despite the fact that Leon continued to hold your face.
"What?"
"I'm afraid." - you finally confessed, feeling a huge crack in your heart. Leon pressed you to his chest and you were grateful to him at that second because you no longer had the strength to control your emotions. - "I'm just afraid"
"My love? Or what?"
You didn't know what you were afraid of anymore. Leon pressed his cheek to the top of your head, holding the back of your head. Both of you didn't even notice how it started raining outside, creating an atmosphere of silence and loneliness. All that the soul craved was to stay standing like that for longer or even for an eternity. You feel his other hand on your waist, but you don't have the resolve to hug him back.
"It's not even about Ada, right?" - you didn't say anything. - "Do you really distrust me so much that you are ready to believe anyone but me?"
"You smelled of her perfume; you kept her things and never trusted me. I've always been away from you."
"Believe me angel, the shit that I constantly see haunts me almost every night and this is not what I want for you at all. Even if you begged me, I would never tell you about it. And about the rest…I have no idea what you smelled there."
Leon's words sounded like a final chord. No more excuses. Your body reflexively pressed against him, feeling the lost warmth of your native closeness, which caused the corners of Leon's lips to slightly rise up.
And in the end, you succumbed to the temptation of clasping his back with your trembling hands, covering your eyes from the fatigue of what is happening.
His lips touched your hair, and the noisy intake of breath that followed made him plunge into memories. It seemed like everything was covered in a misty haze, and your scent could make him lose his mind, even if it was for brief moments. The anxiety of a quick farewell enveloped the body, but there was something else… something that excites the mind regardless of temperature. A strange and at the same time precious emotion that has returned comfort to you two, affectionate behavior to each other, warmth of soul. This is something from the depths of the heart.
If Ada was a candle all this time, whose light illuminated a narrow space, then you were like the sun, whose warmth and beauty he missed so much. Leon realized that he was looking at a dazzling man with a huge sun inside, which dispelled all the darkness that had hung over him since the days of Raccoon City.
He knew he had no right to do that, and you could have pushed him away, but Leon wanted to feel your light one last time. Tearing you away from his shoulder so that the next moment he could press his lips to yours, memorizing your sweet taste. Like a rare nectar that can only be tasted once. A crushing kiss filled with belated remorse.
"Let this be my parting gift"
You're not annoyed or even angry. Whatever happens, you will always love him more than you should. So much time spent in vain to burn bittersweet feelings out of a stupid heart and stop following stupid emotions. Everything was absolutely in vain.
You pursed your lips when Leon started pulling away from you. As an avalanche hit a lonely wanderer, so you were dying at this second. leon believed that his love was hurting you and he is ready to step back so that you can heal, but the fact is that now you are at a crossroads again, not knowing the right way.
So maybe we should turn back?
You don't have an umbrella, just a thin jacket, and it's still raining mercilessly outside, as if someone is mourning the heavens. Drops trickle down the glass, and you wipe away your own tears, trying to listen to the footsteps behind you, but they are not there. A gigantic heaviness rolled over.
"It's stupid," you sobbed when you heard his voice, the one that cut you from the inside like a knife blade, forcing you to clench your teeth. - "I will never look for a meeting with you again, but still…stay with me."
"I..I can not…don't know" - Leon hugged you from behind again. Your voice was lost in hoarse sobs and if it weren't for his strong hands, your knees would hit the floor. It was as if the scenario of that day was repeating itself. - "I don't want to leave. I love you so much..."
You covered your mouth with your hand, unable to hold back your sobs any longer. It's just that emotions poured out in a flurry, turning you into a crying mess. However, the grip on your thin shoulders tightened when Leon turned you around to face him, holding you in a vice.
And your hand felt so good on his neck… Leon smiled as if he didn't want to know anything else in the world, starting to cover your tearful face with smudged kisses lingering on your lips and when you started answering all the barriers finally collapsed.
"So you'll stay." - no question. - "No more tears. No jealousy. You're here with me."
"Lee..on…" - with difficulty pronouncing his name, he burst into your mouth with a new kiss that stopped your breath. His tongue easily slid into your mouth intertwining with yours and you knew where to put yourself, allowing his hands to wander over your body.
"Either you leave now and never come back, or we send everything to hell and forget all the shit that happened to us. Choose now."
You were hanging around his neck, and to be honest, this really was your last chance to escape. It was only necessary to make a movement to the side, to pull away from him, but you stood still. One minute. Two… maybe the last two minutes of your sane thoughts.
You stayed, continuing to look into those sky-blue eyes, pressing your forehead against his, without interrupting eye contact. The person standing in front of you was irreplaceable, and now you would rather part with your life than agree to part with him.
Leon stroked your cheek with a funny peck on the lips, causing a sincere smile.
"Never dare to doubt me. Don't ever leave again. You and I will go somewhere far, far away from here. Let's drop everything and go to some house on the shore of the lake, where we will enjoy the tranquility and each other." - another kiss on the swollen nose. You just nodded, clinging to his T-shirt.
You've always been more of a vanilla girl, but Leon decided that rudeness would be superfluous. Not now and not tonight. He pulled off your clothes along with your underwear, throwing you on the soft bed that you already shared with him once and all you could think about was how he proved his love for you, holding you motionless in his arms, licking wet tracks from his cheeks. You didn't have the strength to fight him trying to take the initiative, the only thing you were thinking about was deep slow thrusts knocking moans out of your mouth. Leon was hugging you to him with great greed and a bit of fear, as if you could run away from him now. That's why he whispered soothing words and praise in your ear all the while tucking your hair back.
"I love you. You have no right to think otherwise. You're just my pretty girl, look at me, beautiful" - Leon threw you on the pillow, forcing you to open your eyes. Panting, you obeyed, wrapping your legs around his torso, pressing even closer to him, while Leon found your hand, twining your fingers together. - "I need you. You're my favorite girl, I love you so much. More than anything in the world, I value you, don't you dare leave me anymore, angel."
His smooth movements were maddening. Leaning over to you, he caught your lips pulling into a gentle kiss, but you immediately interrupted him leaning against his cheek like a petting cat, losing his head and blushing from vulgar pops and squelching sounds due to the abundance of lubricant.
"Don't leave me," - you freed your hands trying to straddle him, but Leon crossed your sad attempt pressing only harder to the mattress. - "I'm not leaving anymore, I swear. I'm so sorry… I've never wanted anyone more than you. Only you…my love…"
He was so gentle with you. There could be bruises from your closeness in some places, but you felt as good as ever in all the past months of separation. A loud moan escaped his lips when he plunged into you too deeply. His seed soiled your belly when he cum snuggling up to you.
You don't remember exactly when your sanity returned to you, but you definitely felt it when Leon, after the second round and long hugs with compliments, took you to the shower where he carefully washed off the traces of your intimacy with him, gently kissing and sucking every bruise left from his fingers, promising that he would take care of it in the morning.
You ran your fingers over his wet bangs, brushing it away from his eyes, which Leon used when he picked you up under the hips after taking a hot shower to take you back to his bed and let you rest.
Actually, the bed linen should have been changed too, but you two didn't care at all. Leon pulled you closer to him, laying you on his chest, hugging you with both hands, stopping any attempts to escape, but you were no longer planning to run anywhere. He fell asleep pretty quickly, and you lay motionless next to him for another hour, tormented by a feeling of hunger and thinking how you could get to the refrigerator without disturbing a light sleep. His shirt was left lying on the floor and with an awkward movement, as if deceiving a sleeping man with the desire to turn over, you carefully free yourself from the ring of embraces by getting out of bed. You take a cursory glance at Leon, making sure that he is still asleep and throw it on hastily without even buttoning his shirt, leaving the bedroom with light steps with the obvious intention of robbing his refrigerator.
Slowly and on tiptoe… wanting to have a snack at least with a sandwich, you realize when you open the door that a mouse has hanged itself in the refrigerator. Nothing particularly edible, and what Leon ate all this time, also remains a mystery.
Although it seems the cheese seemed quite usable. It's not too satisfying after a particularly sinful night, but you can last until morning. You already want to close the door when suddenly you realize with a sixth sense that someone is standing behind you, forcing you to freeze in place with a slice of cheese in your teeth.
But Leon just stroked your thighs laughing at the silent scene.
"I'm hungry" - That's the whole excuse. - "I'm sorry, but I won't fall asleep if I don't eat something…"
"I told you not to leave me anywhere." - It sounded harsh, but with obvious notes of playfulness, especially since Leon was clearly staring at your breasts. - "You could have asked me instead of running away again. God, stop eating that cheese. I don't want you to get poisoned!"
"Then feed me something or I'll starve to death. I definitely won't be able to return from the other world."
Leon took the fucking cheese out of your hands after enjoying this sweet conversation between two lovers and one hungry heart and threw you over his shoulder carrying you back to the bedroom, putting you back in his bed.
"And now you're lying or sitting in bed like the obedient girl you are while I bring us something to eat. If you are not in this place, blame yourself. You've already rubbed my nerves and yours enough, angel." - You nodded, still feeling the residual stress from the hysteria you experienced, but you were still smiling sweetly, hanging one leg over the edge of the bed, teasing Leon a little, who was getting dressed all this time. He noticed your stupid game and took a leather jacket from the closet on the way out of the bedroom tickled your heel, forcing you to hide it back under the blanket.
"You're staying here. So that when I come back, and it will be very soon, I will find you in this very place." - Notes of sadness and fatigue were still hovering in his eyes, so you didn't argue, but just agreed.
"I'll be here. It's raining outside anyway and I don't have an umbrella with me."
Leon flicked you on the nose, clearly not appreciating the joke. He didn't even ask what you wanted, even though he already knew about your taste preferences. Therefore, as soon as the door slammed shut, you quickly reached for your mobile phone, answering missed calls from your parents, explaining to them that you just dozed off and didn't hear the mobile. In general, you have found something to do by digging into your phone, checking messages and flipping through the news feed in the social network, thinking only about Leon and the food that he should bring soon.
It all still seemed unreal. You looked at the corner where your abandoned bag was left lying around, as if confirming reality. It's unlikely to be possible to pretend that nothing happened and Leon really looked too tired, but right now you didn't want to think about anything else except his return. Perhaps you have already suffered enough and you really should go on vacation together somewhere away from the hustle and bustle of the world? Leon will probably want to talk about this topic again with a fresher head when he calms down a little.
In the end, finding you sleeping in his bed was a really beautiful reality that he was afraid he had already lost. In his shirt, with pretty bare thighs, sleeping lightly on his pillow. Leon put the bag of food on the table, taking off his jacket just to hug you, proving to himself once again that this is really not a dream.
You really stayed with him and he won't let you leave anymore.

Part 1
Bryce
I wake up not having slept at all. Tossing and turning in bed all night.
It’s my one day off in the whole week. I talked to the chief to get this day off. When she asked me why I just said personal reasons. Not wanting to say more.
I lie in bed and when I turn around I see Lunes is still fast asleep. I push the blue comforter aside and slowly get up to not wake her.
She stirs and I hold my breath but then she sighs, turns around, and keeps on sleeping.
I get dressed and take my surfboard and head down to the beach.
Needing to get my head around how I’m going to feel about seeing my dad after all these years.
Did he miss me? Did he ever ask about me? It feels weird and scary as all get out. It’s as if I don’t even know him. Or at least not the part where he committed a crime.
I don’t like to talk about what my parents did. How many people they hurt with their actions. I sometimes wish I could erase that part. But if I did? I would’ve never met Lunes, and I would’ve never made such awesome friends at Edenbrook.
I sigh. I put my surfboard into the sand and just sat there on the sand, ankles crossed. Digging my toes into the sand.
Not really seeing anyone.
There are just a couple of people around the beach at 5.30 in the morning.
I close my eyes briefly. Just focusing on my breathing.
Hearing seagulls make their morning calls, smelling the sea, almost tasting the salty air and the rich flowery scent. Engulfing me in a sweet embrace.
When I reopen my eyes I can see a bit clearer. I get up, dust off the sand from my shorts, and get into the water.
When I sit on my surfboard and feel the water on my hands I feel more at peace than anywhere else in the world.
Everything fades into the background when I’m in the water. It’s just me and the sea.
I get up and catch a wave just riding it out. I do it a couple of times until I feel I’m ready to face Luna. Look into her eyes and lie to her. I hate not telling her. We tell each other everything. But I guess a part of me is just scared to talk about my past with Luna.
When I get out of the water, I shake off the remaining water out of my hair.
It could use a trim. I haven’t even noticed that it's gotten longer.
I get my surfboard and walk the short distance home. When I get to our beautiful home I just take in the view as I lean the surfboard against the wall of the house and take a shower outside.
Leaning one hand on the wall of the shower for strength.
Water dripped from my hair, past my shoulders. And I watch as the water disappears into the drain.
When the water turns cold I turn the shower off, grab a towel and walk inside.
I see Lunes is up making breakfast. Being her cheerful self. I smile softly.
She’s alone in the kitchen which means Keiki must be still asleep since it’s a Saturday. She’ll probably meet with her study group later.
Lunes looks up.
”Looks like someone was up early,“ she smiles while drinking her chamomile tea with some brown sugar.
”What no coffee?“ I tease her.
She points a finger at me.
”You know damn well I can’t drink coffee. Now you’re just rubbing it in,“ she says, sipping her tea slowly.
I grin and turn towards the coffee machine and my chipper smile fades away. Now that my back is turned I don’t have to smile. I don’t have to pretend to be cheery when I’m not.
My reflection in the toaster stares back at me. My brown eyes, usually so bright and vibrant, seem tired and worn out.
I sigh quietly and pour some coffee into my favorite mug I got from Lunes and Keiki.
”Hot as fuck surgeon“ Making me smile as I put two teaspoons of sugar inside and stir it. The spoon clinks against the porcelain.
Making the sound echo louder in the kitchen than I thought it would. I turn around as I blow over my coffee, to not burn my tongue.
I can hear Lunes talk about some art piece of a student she has to assess but she doesn’t want to give him too good of a grade, but she also doesn’t want to give him a bad one. So naturally, she feels torn.
I listen with half an ear and sip from my coffee.
”Then I think I’ll try out my new sex toy.“
Luna's words get me out of my haze.
I look up and grin.
”Please I want in,“ I say, a bit too enthusiastic.
She grunts.
”What is it about guys getting excited about sex toys,“ she says and gets out some fruit loops from the cupboard.
I watch her but don’t say anything about her eating too much sugar. What’s the point? She’ll eat it anyway. Though I have to grin because her stubbornness is hot as hell.
”Trust me if you were in my shoes you’d find it hot too,“ I say, grabbing a banana from the fruit basket.
She rolls her eyes.
”As if. That’s like asking if I get turned on by you using sex toys,“ she says angrily shoving fruit loops into her mouth.
”And do you?“ I ask, wanting to know if she’d be turned on by it.
But I just want to escape this conversation. Luna sees everything.
It’s why our relationship works so well. Because we talk about everything and anything. We’re each others safe haven.
At least until I decided not to tell her where I’m going today. It’s hard to smile every day when you don’t feel like it.
I look down at my coffee as if it holds all the answers I need.
Luna laughs and I look up.
”I mean yeah sure,“ she’s thinking about it and I just sip my coffee and shake my head smirking.
We finish our breakfast in silence. Each of us hangs on to our own thoughts.
I put the dishes in the dishwasher. Luna gave me her bowl and her spoon and I put both in.
”Wanna watch a movie?“ She asks hugging me.
The perfect distraction before I have to see my dad.
My posture stiffens at that.
She notices my stiffness.
”Uhh or how about a massage? I bought these essential oils. Lavender scented,“ she says, wiggling her eyebrows.
”Admit it. You just want to get your hands on me,“ I say.
She laughs.
”That is very true. Come on, we'll have some fun. Forget the movie. Getting you naked is way more fun than a movie,“ she says and drags me to our bedroom.
A massage sounds really good.
Hopefully, it’ll ease the tension in my shoulders.
Tumblr media
Two hours later…
Who knew I’d be this scared? Well, terrified is more like it.
I blow out a breath and hate myself for hiding this from Luna.
We don’t keep secrets. And it’s not for a lack of trust. It’s just I wanted to do this on my own. I know she would’ve come along and supported me if I asked her.
She’s the kindest, most supportive person I’ve ever met. Who gives selflessly without expecting anything in return. I’m fucking lucky to have her.
My heart squeezes when I think of not having her here by my side. To lean on. To draw strength from.
But I wanted to get a feel for the whole situation first. Keiki doesn’t know either.
I stare ahead at the Halawa Correctional Facility. I learned that they put Dad here instead of Maui, fearing someone could attack him in prison there.
The sun is cruelly beating down on me as I’m sitting in my car sweating just thinking of going inside.
I push the hair that’s gotten slightly longer out of my face, get out of the car, and enter the building.
When I’m inside I get patted down and have to answer a bunch of questions. I go through the motions like a robot. Like an outside-of-a-body experience. As if it’s not happening to me. Rather someone else.
I get a visitor's badge, clip it to my jeans, and get directed to the visitor’s area.
When I enter the room I see an older man in an orange jumpsuit sitting at a table. All by himself. Hunched over and completely immersed in his meal.
I look at the guard and he points me to that exact table. I steel myself, gulp down my nausea, and walk in that direction.
When I sit down the man who looks so much like me looks up from his lunch which consists of some rice and beans with some chicken on the side.
His gaze looks gaunt and tired. As if the years haven’t been kind to him. I guess that’s what you get for robbing people of their money.
His brown eyes spark with recognition at seeing me.
”Hey Dad,“ I say, putting my hands on the table. Interlacing them.
He stops eating for a moment. To just look at me.
”Bryce. I didn’t expect to see you…“ he says the surprise clear in his voice.
I rub my neck to buy some time on what to say.
”I wasn’t sure if I would come but I…“ I say and bite my tongue.
He raises his eyebrows.
His former dark brown hair is now tinted with grey. Though it hasn’t lost its shine and wave.
”To what do I owe this honor of a visit from you then?“ He asks.
I sigh.
”Really? This is how it’s going to go? I knew I shouldn’t have come,“ I say about to get up.
His voice stops me in my tracks.
”I…please have a seat. I‘m sorry I didn’t mean it like that. I‘m happy you’re here to visit. Why didn’t you bring Keiki along?“ He asks, looking around as if my little sister will suddenly materialize out of thin air. Yeah right.
I sit back down and stare at him.
He’s a completely different guy. Gone is the arrogant smile. The vibrancy. All that is left is an empty shell of a guy.
I run my hand down my face. Already feeling completely exhausted.
”Keiki doesn’t know I’m here nor does Luna,“ I say and feel a knot form in my stomach. It feels like I’m betraying her trust. Both of their trust.
He looks confused.
”Who is Luna?“ He asks.
That’s right. He probably has no idea what’s been going on in my life. I feel like he stabbed me right in the heart.
Did mom not tell him when she visited? Did she even visit?
Should I have told him about Luna sooner? Maybe written him a letter? Would he have read my letter?
So many questions are circling inside my head. It’s giving me a headache. Maybe I can get some answers to my questions during my visit today.
I wet my dry lips. Wishing I’d had some water to sip from.
”Where to even begin?“ I ask myself.
He leans forward into his chair.
”We’ve got about 25 minutes until I have to go back into my cell. So maybe the speedy version would be good?“ He says a slow smile gracing his face and I can see traces of the dad I once knew. The one I grew up with.
Who took me to my first football game. Who let me throw my first party and wasn’t mad at all the party people and the pricey alcohol we consumed. Who bought me condoms and said just be safe son. I smile at that memory.
I’d like a chance to see that dad again someday. Without ghosts of the past haunting us.
”A lot has happened. I became a surgeon and finished my residency at Edenbrook Hospital in Boston. Moved back to Hawaii where I now live with my fiancé Luna,“ I smile as I talk about Luna.
My dad smiles.
”Tell me, is she good to you?“ he asks with laughter visible in his brown eyes.
I grin in turn.
”She’s the best dad. She’s an artist. She teaches at the University of Hawaii. We’re expecting soon so…“ I finish feeling my cheeks redden for some reason.
My dad has a proud expression on his face.
”I’m really happy for you son. After everything…“ He says.
”Why did you and mom do it, dad?“ I ask a question I’ve been looking for an answer to for a long time.
My dad leans back in his chair and seems to think hard about what to say.
”We did it for our family. We didn’t think we’d hurt anyone. After all, it was just money. Money some people had so much of, they didn’t know what to do with. So we took some of it for our own,“ he says.
”Dad. How could you think you wouldn’t hurt anyone? These people lost their money. Money that we spent. It was dirty money. Money we had no right to have,“ I say hissing trying to not let the past actions of my parents rob me of getting closure and finding some peace in knowing they regret what they did.
My dad nods.
”I know that now. But back then. I…We were selfish and only thought of ourselves, instead of thinking how many lives we would wreak havoc upon,“ he admits his voice gone hoarse as if he was holding back tears.
I have to gulp down some tears of my own. Trying to blink them away. Though some errand tears cover my eyelashes.
”Yeah you and mom screwed up dad. A lot. So many lives were ruined. Keiki and I went through hell in school. We became enemy number one overnight. I finished high school and got the hell out of there. But Keiks wasn’t so lucky. They attacked her on school grounds on her first day,“ I say still angry about that. My fists clench at the table. My teeth grind together.
”They what?“ He says, his voice gotten protective when I mentioned Keiki was attacked.
”Yeah. She told me,“ I say and I’m still angry about that.
He looks at me as if he can sense I’m still angry about it. I mean how couldn’t I be? But I’m trying to move forward. Holding grudges isn’t healthy. Lunes and I are building our life and our future together.
I know she’d love my parents to be in our children’s lives. To have two sets of grandparents for our twins and give them all the love they deserve.
I breathe out through my nose. Trying to reign in my emotions. I can fall apart later. When nobody is looking. This way I show a strong front. Without revealing anything.
”I know if I could go back in time…“ he starts his voice pleading.
”You can’t go back in time dad. There’s no time machine. All you can do now is try to earn back people's trust. Which is going to take some time.“
He stares at me and then looks away. Knowing it’s true.
I move on.
”How much longer have you got?“ I ask, wanting to know when he’s getting out.
It feels weird sitting here. Asking my dad all these questions. As If I’m getting to know him. Again.
After we’ve spent so much time apart. Not because we wanted to. It’s because the circumstances forced our hand.
He sighs as if he’s getting tired of hearing this question, and I bet he can’t wait to get out of prison.
”I’m getting out on parole. Five months and I’m a semi-free man again,“ he says longing in his voice.
His eyes gazed into space. As if he’s picturing getting out and feeling the sunshine on his face again.
I lean forward.
”That’s good to hear dad,“ I say and I’m about to open my mouth to say something when the guard indicates my visiting time is almost over. I nod and gesture for one more minute and he inclines his head.
”I’d like to meet Luna. She sounds nice,“ he looks at me and I can see tears glistening in his eyes.
I don’t answer him, because Luna doesn’t know I’m here today. And I don’t know how she’d feel visiting my father in prison. I feel shame about this part of my life. I haven’t done anything wrong. Though I still feel responsible.
I squeeze his shoulder and he puts his hand on my own for a brief second. I smile and walk towards the exit. Feeling tired. More exhausted than after a ten-hour surgery.
Getting into my car the first thing I do is cry. Where no one can see me. Crying for all the years we’ve been out of each other’s life. Because of one wrong decision. God. What a fucking mess.
I wipe away at my face and start the car, my hands shaking slightly. I sigh. Not again. I fucking hate it when my hands start to shake.
I just drove around for a while. When I sense I’m getting tired I turn towards the road to our house. When I arrived at the driveway I put the car in park and turned off the engine.
Just sitting there dreading going inside the house and facing a conversation with Lunes. She’d be the last person to judge me I know that. But I’m scared shitless.
I draw in a deep breath, gather my strength, and get outside the car.
Things will work out as they always do. I know they will.

“So he’s not getting better?” You pinched your forehead and sighed.
“No, if anything, his health is failing rapidly,” You explained to Blythe and Joey who were currently on speakerphone as you paced in your room. “Even mother doesn’t know what is causing his decline in health. We’re going to lose him any day, I just know it.”
“Oh love, are you alright?” You let out a strained chuckle at Joey’s sweet and worried voice.
“Oh, I’m fine, Joey. Alex… well Alex has lived far longer than I ever expected him to. I’ve made my peace with his impending death already… I’m just worried about Paul, he is so distraught. I think he blames himself for what is happening to Alex, which makes absolutely no sense of course. It’s not like he could have predicted this would happen.” You told Joey in reassurance. “At the very least, I’ve been sleeping a lot better, the sleep tracker Isabel made me get is working wonders.”
“Glad to hear it, babe,” Blythe chimed in. “Speaking of Izzy, did she update you on the boy from Chesters that she asked out?” You clicked your tongue.
“No, she’s been rather mum about it, either of you know what is going on with her?” Blythe snorted and Joey sighed.
“She’s being a bloody idiot, that’s what.”
“Blythie!” Joey scolded. “You know Iz is a romantic at heart. She can’t not search for love.”
“Well yes,” You chipped in, moving to the window of your bedroom and looking out. Groundskeepers were currently mowing the lawn in the fading light. “But she is also quite spiteful and promised that she wanted nothing to do with the male species for at least a few weeks.”
“Okay, okay, Isabel’s spitefulness aside, she did actually update me on Kinley, the boy from Chesters. Seems like he’s a nice boy, a little on the innocent side, but way too smitten with our Izzy-girl to even think about hurting her.” Blythe explained to you.
“He’s not her usual type, but I think he’ll be good for her, not to mention good to her.”
“As long as she doesn’t eat him alive…” You commented wryly. “Listen, I’m exhausted and need a shower before bed. I’m going to have to let you girls go.”
“We’ll talk later love, have a good night's sleep!” Blythe and Joey chimed back before the call ended. You put your phone to sleep and made your way to the bathroom, humming a song that was currently stuck in your head. Making quick work of your shower, you changed yourself into your sleepwear and started running a brush through your hair as you got yourself ready for bed. It was fairly early still, but you were exhausted and could do well for an early turn-in. Dropping your brush off on your dresser, you turned to retrieve your sleep tracker watch… only to find it gone.
“What?” You murmured, moving around a few things on your dresser if you had put it somewhere where it could have been hidden, it wasn’t there. You frowned and looked at your nightstand. Perhaps you had left it there? No. Your nightstand was empty save for the alarm box. “Where did you go?”
“Looking for this, my love?” You gasped sharply and spun around, hand flying to your chest where your heart now raced. You gaped in fright. Sitting in the lounge chair in the corner of your room, was the man from your dreams. His eyes were glowing silver with the strength of a supernova, and you could feel that he was anything but happy. His fingers held up the watch you were currently looking for. You took a step forwards on instinct, wanting to swipe it out of his hands… but the moment you started towards him, he was rising to his feet. You stumbled back in fear.
“You shouldn’t be here, you—“
“Don’t exist?” He countered smoothly, his eyebrow raised in amused question as he approached you. “Had I not made it clear that I would come back for you?” You shook your head, refusing to believe what was in front of you.
“No, no, you do not exist, you can’t exist.” You tried to snatch your watch back, but he only lofted it out of your reach. “Give it back!” You exclaimed sharply, panic setting in. You were stretching now, desperate to get back the one thing that was your saving grace at night. Those silver-blue eyes hardened and in seconds he had his other arm wrapping around your back to tug you against his body. You gasped and tried to jerk backward. His physical touch was terrifying because it was only solidifying his presence and making it that much harder to pass him off as a dream.
“You have no idea what they’ve done to you, my little priestess,” He spoke gently, gazing down at you with adoration. Your gaze shifted to the watch he still held, and for a moment you thought about lunging for it again. But then, as if he knew what you were thinking, his gaze darkened and your precious watch was being crushed in his fingers. You gaped in horror, watching as the ruined pieces of the watch fell to the floor.
“You broke it!” You cried out in outrage, trying to go after the broken plastic and technology. He didn’t let you, choosing to trap you in an impenetrable, or rather, inescapable, embrace. Your eyes wide with fear stared up into his darkened face. “Why did you do that!?” You tried beating against his chest in anger, to get some sort of reaction from him. But no, he only stared down at you with those softly glowing eyes. “What do you want from me?” He leaned forwards, his face descending towards yours. He didn’t kiss you but did raise a hand to stroke your face with his knuckles. “Please give me an answer, no one is telling me anything.” You pleaded your frustrations at an all-time high. His gentle touch drew across your face until he was cradling your face.
“I want everything, my priestess.” He told you, his voice melodic and urging. “And I shall have my taste of you, now.” Your world twisted, but you couldn’t take your eyes off the man holding you in place with such an intense gaze upon your trembling body. Then you were falling backward and landing on a soft surface, your mattress most likely. Your mystery man was soon to hover over you, eyes blazing brightly with possession. He said taste, that could only mean one thing… Hands ran down your sides to your hips, then to your thighs. You felt your clothes disappear. Face flooding with heat, your hand's dove to cover yourself, but he didn’t let you. No, he swatted your hands away with a scowl. “You think to deprive your king that of which is his blood right?”
“I— I am not yours! No one owns anyone and I am certainly not a piece of property.” You shot back, firmly pushing against his looming body. “I’m not— I’m not a toy!”
“A toy? Do not insult me or yourself, little one, your value is immeasurable and cannot be condensed into a menial object.” He spoke darkly to you, his eyes swirling in anger. “You are a priestess of Dreams and Nightmares, which makes you worth more than all of humanity combined. I shall lavish you however I so choose for your eternal devotion.” Then he dove in.
Lips brushed against your bare skin, running along your breasts and giving them soft nuzzles. He was slow with his choices to press kiss after kiss against your flesh, but he had so much time to think about how he wished to pull you apart. How he wanted to see you squirm and writhe in pleasure, falling apart beneath him in a heavenly gale of rapture. He was going to take his time. Explore that which you had held chaste for him.
That mouth of his carved a random path from your breasts to your stomach, never once giving you relief from the painful embarrassment of your naked state. You were tempted to try and push him away from your body before he got any more intimate with your body. But you couldn’t, an unknown force was directing your body to simply lay still and feel. You opened your mouth one last time to try and talk him out of whatever he planned.
“I don’t even know your name!” Once more your outcry didn’t cause him to cease his endeavor, but he did shift his explorative path with his lips back up your body. He drew his lips along the curve of your heaving breast, taking several moments to nuzzle your soft flesh and soak in the radiating warmth that came from it. Then he was gazing into your eyes with sparkling universes. Universes that were quickly consuming you like hungry black holes. He was inescapable.
“Stop protesting what is natural and right, beloved,” He whispered against your lips, his breath mixing in with yours and making you feel all that more lightheaded. You shuddered yet again beneath him.
That was all you could get out before his lips were diving down for your thigh. A flush of heat burned through your body and your thigh jerked against his lips. Searing heat burned in your veins uncomfortably, lighting up every surface of your flesh with sensitivity. A high-pitched squawk left your parted lips and your muscles tensed. His lips pressed further into your skin, exploring and lavishing the tender flesh as he ever so slowly made his way upwards. His tongue teased and taunted your skin, swirling across it like he was trying to map you out.
The sensitive skin of your inner thigh was well endowed with kisses by the time you could feel the heat from his lips against your cunt. You squirmed in place, chest heaving. Punishing hands were quick to correct your tugs of retreat. With one harsh yank, your cunt all but crashed into his waiting mouth. You cried out at the foreign feeling, barely able to comprehend the long, luscious lick he gave to your cunt. Fingers pressed further into your trembling thighs and you struggled to keep breathing as he feasted on what no man had ever had the pleasure of. You were untouched save for him, and your body ever so sensitive, and your taste, you tasted of sweet starlight.
Your back arched and one of your shaking hands slipped into his hair, entwining with the midnight stands. His feasting fervor only increased when he felt your sharp tugs upon his scalp. You were moaning now, just short of writhing against his ravenous mouth. The sensations were bringing tears to your eyes and made a burning sensation run through your abdomen until you were shaking from pleasure rather than fear. He lapped up that change, drinking in the pleasure that was now leaking from your body like a tap left open. You dug your heels into the mattress, whimpering and moaning.
His tongue flicked over your clit and your moan escalated to a cry. He was sucking your most sensitive place and you could no longer think of anything but him. But your ears did work perfectly fine. Soft growling rumbles came from deep within his chest. To you it sounded like a pained relief, like whatever had been torturing him was finally gone, or at the very least, he was finding relief. His tongue swirled through your folds, caressed your clit, and finally delved into you. Stars burst within your eyes and your thighs once again jerked against his hold, wanting to tighten around the head of the man bringing you so much pleasure at this moment.
Fingers raked through obsidian locks, clawing at his scalp. Your increased reaction to his ministrations only seem to spur him on until you were panting out and nearly suffocating from pleasure. The overwhelming build of bliss in your body all but begged for release and you were entirely planning on letting it have its free reign. But he was drawing back from you, drawing back from your flesh that was coated in your release from his avid and edacious feast. That echoing bliss slipped away, leaving you behind with a hollow feeling. You sobbed at the sudden emptiness you felt. You were shushed and cradled in place, lips delicately kissing away the wet tracks upon your cheeks. He brought such blinding pleasure to you, the kind that stole the breath from your chest. But for some reason, he wouldn’t allow you to fully succumb to the pleasure he seemed desperate to draw from your body. Why was he torturing you like this? What had you done to him?

it had been a few minutes since noel was waiting in her room after jay had sent her a text message that he was coming over. two weeks had passed from the last time he asked about her, jay didn't want to rush things and noel was happy she was given time to cope by herself before collecting her thoughts and feelings and telling someone else. and now she felt ready to tell someone, and that someone was jay.
he knew more about her and her family than anybody else, including her members, so she felt it was right to tell him about her worries first. so she lay on her bed, holding her knees close to her chest while her back rested on her pillow. the natural light that came in from her window was enough for her to see her surroundings.
the light knock on the door was a signal for noel to reply with a small 'come in' before the door opened. it was jay, he was wearing a simple black t-shirt that revealed his collarbones and the necklace he always wore, grey sweatpants and a black beanie. he held a tired smile on his face as he walked over to her bed, asking for permission before sitting down.
"so, what's up?" he asked, placing a hand on her knee, making her let out a little sigh at the question.
"i'll get straight to the point. you know my dad has had heart problems ever since we became friends..." she started, feeling her breathing get heavier as she remembered when her mom called her to tell her the sudden news. jay gave her a little nod, moving his hand from her knee to hold hers.
"and he's only gotten worse since i came to korea... and two weeks ago, mom called me and...she said-" noel didn't realize she had started crying until she felt jay wiping her tears. he pulled her into a hug, rubbing circles on her back, and she hugged him too, enjoying the warmth and comfort he gave her.
"he had a few complications and now he's in the hospital." noel managed to finish her sentence. jay kept his hands around her torso while listening to her explain the situation.
"i've just been really worried about him. and promotions have also been stressing me out a lot," she added, jay brushed some hair out of her face while whispering words of comfort.
"what made me have the panic attack was the thought of losing dad. i... i don't want him to leave me and mom. at least not this early." she started crying again, resulting in jay trying his best to make her stop so she could properly breathe.
"i understand your worry. i know you and your family have been dealing with your dad's health for a while now, and you told me before how ever since you've left america he's only gotten worst." he started, holding both her hands and occasionally giving her little squeezes as he spoke.
"but he's been staying strong all these years, and i'm sure he will be strong in this time too. you also need to stay strong though. if you're stressing out so much it'll only make the situation worst. i know it's hard, but you have to do it for him, your mom, and most importantly, yourself." he added, making noel tear up again. she appreciated his words, he always knew what to say to make her feel better and gain strength.
"you know i'll always be here for you if you need to tell me anything. and the rest of the girls also are here to help you with anything." she pulled him into a tight hug, burying her face on his shoulder. jay smiled, closing his eyes and enjoying the moment of peace.
"did you come here after practice?" noel asked, making jay move to sit beside her on her bed.
"yep. why, do i look bad?" he replied with a chuckle, making the girl also let out a faint laugh before shaking her head no.
"you just look tired. you can take a nap if you want," she said with a smile on her face. jay removed his beanie and ruffled his hair. although he was tired, he still looked very good.
"only if you rest with me." he added, laying down on her pillow. he probably noticed the tiredness on her face too. she hadn't been able to sleep well the past few days, but with jay by her side she felt like the bad nightmares she had been having would stop and let her rest for at least a few minutes.
so the two of them lay on her bed, both their heads resting on her pillow. they held hands with their fingers intertwined while talking about things that had happened, mindlessly switching from one topic to another. jay was the first to fall asleep, followed by her a few minutes later. and when the rest of her members went into her room after having eavesdropped before, they took photos of the two of them sleeping in each other's arms.

It was still a bit early for Asuna to be asleep at this point, so Levi didn't try to be quiet as he slowly opened the large door to their bedroom, and closed it softly. He looked around for her for a few seconds before realizing the large balcony door was open. He saw her figure sitting out there, despite the weather being a bit cold, and her only having a light dress on. He felt terrible. If only he was able to realize sooner the pain he had been causing her since she had been here. Maybe he was just trying to avoid all sorts of deep emotions with her, considering he didn't expect from the get go that it would turn out the way it has.
Levi walks towards the balcony slowly, seeing her sitting on one of the balcony chairs, staring straight ahead. She knew he was there, but she refused to turn around. She was completely mentally drained and exhausted, not just from earlier in his office, from everything. It was time for him to say his peace. Levi takes a deep breath and looks at her with a soft expression, despite her not looking back. Finally, he tries to speak.
"I'm sorry." He says quietly, but still not taking his eyes off her.
It takes a few seconds for her to gather the strength to turn around and look at him. Not getting out of the chair, she looks at him watching her from a few feet away. The look in her eyes made his heart skip a beat. She was so beautiful, even when she was sad, even when she looked at him with uncertainty and anger. She doesn't respond. He may have just apologized, but for what? He was going to have to say more if he wanted her to actually understand.
"Really? Are you?" She speaks up. "For what?"
"You know what."
"Maybe, but you need to be more specific than that."
Levi glares at her and signs in annoyance. "What the fuck do you want me to say?" He states without trying to raise his voice at her.
"Oh, I don't know?" She coos sarcastically. "For starters, maybe you're sorry for leaving me in the dark?! Not telling me the truth about the threats against me and keeping secrets? For ignoring me? For locking me in this damn room while you're away doing God knows what?"
"I haven't been locking the door recently-"
She continues, ignoring his stupid comment. "Or maybe that you're sorry for leaving me in the dark?! Not telling me the truth about the threats against me and keeping secrets? Oh! Or maybe that you're sorry for forcing yourself onto me the first night I came here, and continuing to do so after that, without attempting to get to know me or have any thoughts for my feelings at all?! For simply marrying me and having me in your bed for the mere fact that you want to get back at my father!" Her voice raises, almost yelling at this point.
Don't cry. Don't cry. Don't cry. She thought to herself. God. My stomach hurts.
He stays silent for a few moments, looking down, feeling unworthy to look in her eyes right now. Once again, she has rendered him speechless. He has never in his life had a conversation like this before with a girl. Or more like, a girl he cares about... so much, and he didn't know why, it was driving him insane.
"Well?!" She speaks up again, but he gives no response. He had really hoped that she didn't notice the sweat that was coming down his forehead at his sorry attempt at trying to figure out how to talk to her.
He still says nothing, trying to build up the words to speak. She was right, and he knew it. He just sat there and wondered how on Earth he was doing to fix this.
"Whatever." She says, wiping a lone tear that was falling from her cheek. She attempts to walk off, not wanting to be in the same room as him any longer, but he stops her as she tries to walk past him, grabbing her arm lightly.
"Wait."
She stops and looks up at him, hoping that finally he will say something.
"You're right." Levi says in a monotone voice, stopping again for several seconds. "You... You deserve better."
"I know." She responds, pulling her arm away from his grasp and sitting down on the bed, looking down as he stands in front of her from a few feet away.
"I guess I didn't do a very good job at explaining it earlier." He admits, taking in a deep breath, trying his hardest to gather the words. He walked closer toward her, looking down at her while she sat down on the bed. She was so eager to hear what else he had to say.
"When I was notified about the anonymous kidnapping threats against you, I panicked. All I wanted to do was keep you safe and away from all of this bullshit, I didn't want to stress you out more." He stops... looks down at her with eyes that are filled with genuine honesty. She looks up at him, continuing to listen. Between them both, they can't get over how gorgeous they both look to each other, the moonlight was hitting both of their faces so perfectly.
"After earlier, I realized I can't stand when you're upset with me." He puts a hand on her shoulder, rubbing it softly, causing her to tense up a bit. "I... I will try to be more honest with you from now on..." He pauses again.
"You will try?" She speaks up, trying to keep her cool. Though it seems like that's as best as she's going to get at this moment with him. She sighs and closes her eyes in frustration. "Okay..."
"I know you don't want to be here... and you never asked for this..." Levi continues. "I...I can't explain it... The way I feel about you, I just... I want to hold you. Protect you. Keep you safe from anyone who could hurt you..."
She stays silent, taking in every word he's saying, while trying not to feel flustered inside at his words.
"I... I do want to know you." He says the words she's been wanting to hear since she got here. "I just... I don't know how to. I've never had a relationship like this before, with anyone."
Asuna gets up, looking up at him and moving closer. This is probably the first time since she's met Levi that she feels truly touched at his words. She hopes he isn't just saying all of this just to calm her down, but when looking into his eyes as he speaks, she notices that the emotion in his face is nothing but genuine, a look she hasn't seen him wear before. Maybe he really is being honest, maybe he really does want to change for her, but this doesn't mean that things are entirely fixed on her end.
"You won't know how to until you try." She responds, giving him a soft smile that makes his heart beat faster. He nods lightly, and attempts to take his hand in hers, which she does back.
"Please... don't shut me out anymore." Asuna says, almost pleading quietly. He squeezes her hand tighter, while putting his other hand on her cheek and caresses it, which causes her to melt to his touch. She may still be unsure about him, but she can't deny the fluttering in her stomach when he holds her in his arms. Though he still doesn't say anything back.
"Levi?"
"Yeah?" He responds, completely lost in her eyes.
"Did you hear what I said?"
"Yeah." He sighs, pausing. "I never wanted to shut you out."
"You already have!" She raises her voice, letting go of his hand and attempting to walk away again.
"No..." He grabs her hand again, pulling her back to him and wrapping his arms around her waist, holding her in place with his hands caressing her back. "Please. Don't leave."
"What do you want from me?" She says as he holds her tightly, his lips inches from her's.
"I don't know..." He hesitantly says, hoping she won't try to get away from him again to that response. "I just want... you..."
With that, he puts his forehead to hers and tries to lean in for a kiss after a few seconds, but she pulls back. Moving her face away from him in an attempt to tell him she is still extremely upset. Trying to keep her tears from running again, she closes her eyes and contemplates her intimate future with Levi Ackerman.
"I'm sorry." He says once again, catching her attention as she looks up at him, her eyes watering. He moves his hand up to her cheek once again and wipes the coming tears from her pretty eyes. "Please... Don't leave. Don't hate me. I'm sorry."
"I know..." She says in a crying state. She didn't know what to do at this point. Should she just accept his apology and go from here? Or should she continue arguing with him until she gets a response out of him that fully satisfies her? She decided she was better off going with the first option, she didn't try to break free from his grasp, she just stood there, speechless. He kisses her forehead and all over her face before pulling her into a hug. He held her tightly as he caressed one hand over her soft hair while the other caressed her back. Her hands were flat against his chest, not hugging him back, instead just crying. She wasn't scared of him anymore, this conversation they had caused her to get to know his personality and what kind of person he was a whole lot better. She wasn't crying because she was scared, she was crying because she just wanted him to simply love her like she deserves, hold her because he wanted to. Kiss her without the thought of sex behind his mind. This conversation didn't fix everything, mainly she realized what a complicated and troubled man he was. This wasn't going to solve all of their problems, but it was a start.
He kisses the top of her head, holding her tighter and tighter with each moment that passes by. He has never felt so nervous in front of a girl before, he cursed himself quietly as he tried to understand this brand new feeling. He was too nervous to tell her, but he was going to try to do better. He wanted her to feel loved, to feel special, to feel like she could come to him for anything she needed. With this feeling being so new to him, he wasn't sure how well he was going to do with his attempt at doing better, but he was going to try.
"Do you forgive me?" Levi asks, breaking the silence, responding with a lighter and kinder voice. She looks up at him, seeing that he has a soft smile on his face as he rubs the back of her head. She sighs, eventually hugs him back, burying her face in his chest.
"You're going to have to try harder than that, Levi Ackerman." She responds as she smiles under her nose and continues to hide her face in his chest. He smiles too, chuckling a bit, moving her head up to look at him as he holds her face in his hands. Attempting to lean in for another kiss, hoping she won't pull away again. His lips softly touched hers, her lips were so soft, Levi wishes that he can stay in this moment forever.
After a few moments, he lifts her off her feet. Carrying her as she wrapped her legs around his waist, arms around his neck. He grabs her ass as he makes out with her some more, holding her as tightly as he could, almost as if she would disappear if he let her go. He softly sets her down on their shared bed, crawling on top of her and caging her between his arms. She felt the heat between her legs get wetter, as she craved his touch more and more each second. He kissed her more, lightly slipping some tongue in as she grabbed his hair in desperation. Before this, he would have sex with her without her being 100% sure about any of it, but this time, she believed, was the first time ever that she was sure. She wanted him, and she wanted him now.
He lets go of the kiss as he peppers her neck and chest with kisses, moaning as he kisses her. He just couldn't ever get enough of her, ever. He was happy that she wanted him as much as he did at this moment.
I'll make it up to you. He thought to himself. I won't ever let anything happen to you. I'll be there for you, I promise. I love you.
He eventually moved his hands down to her legs, softly pushing her long silk dress up to her thighs, continuing to kiss all over her neck and above her breasts. She pushes away from him and looks up, which catches his attention as he stops.
"Do you not want to?" He asks, kissing her lips and all over her face with love and care. "We can stop if you want."
Asuna didn't have words at first. She never thought she would ever hear those words come out of his mouth. She thought it would always just be him doing what he wanted with her with her either consenting to it or not. Maybe he really was trying. She believed him when he mentioned that he just couldn't stand it when she was upset with him. She just hoped that he can stick to what he told her and not shut her out any longer. Hopefully.
She smiled, moving her hand up to caress his beautiful face. She moves up to kiss him on the lips again, pulling him back down again as he rests his forehead on hers. Guiding his hands back to her hips and moving her dress up some more, exposing her panties. She smiles softly at her as he waits for her to answer.
"No. I want to. I want you, Levi."
He didn't need another confirmation from her. With that, she smashes his lips on hers once again, gently pushing her dress up and undoing the corset from behind. Pushing her dress up above her head and throwing it to the side, quickly pulling her panties off and admiring her beautiful, naked body which was lying beneath him. He grabs her breasts, squeezing them and pinching her hardened nipples, causing her to cry out in pleasure. Kissing her all over her body as he kissed both her breasts and trailed down to her stomach. Rubbing and feeling all over her body, moving lower and lower down to her heat. She moans at his kisses, pulling his hair and looking down as he continues to kiss lower.
"You're so fucking beautiful." He says between kisses. "I'm never letting you go, baby... I can't wait to marry you."
His words make her blush so hard, as well as make her more wet with every second he kissed her. He nibbles at the sensitive area around her inner thighs, leaving hickeys everywhere, but nowhere where anyone can see them considering she's getting married for the whole kingdom to see in a few days. He wastes no time in shoving his middle and index and inside her, moaning himself at how unbelievably wet she was.
"Ohhh, fuck...." She whispers between moans. "Levi... ahhhh.."
He pumps his finger into her faster before moving his lips down to kiss her clit softly, teasing her a bit. His finger curled inside her, hitting that spot inside her that he knew would drive her mad. He takes his finger out of her, which made her groan in annoyance as she wanted him to keep doing it. Instead, he moves both of his hands to her cunt, spreading her pussy lips with his thumbs to give him better access to her clit. He moved in and flicked her clit with his tongue over and over, knowing exactly where to kiss and suck to make her squirm. She screams out, feeling her orgasm reaching quickly but not wanting it to end on how good her  Levi was making her feel.
"Levi.. ah! I'm..." She moaned out. Her moans and pleas only make him go faster, sucking on her clit by licking and tasting her sweetness. It doesn't take long for her to start cumming on his face, squirming as he continued, keeping her legs open with his strength as he overstimulated her sensitive clit.
"Thats my good girl." He smiles as he continues to kiss her down there. "That's it... You're so good. Fuck."
He was so hungry for her, and he wasn't even close to being done with her tonight.
"Oh my god... Levi." She says, pulling at his hair some more while he leaves kisses around her thighs and admiring her pretty, wet pussy, which was all his, forever.
He moves back up to her, interlocking one of his hands with hers as he gave her what she felt like endless kisses all over her body.
"You ready for me?" He asks, taking off his pants, positioning his hard cock at her entrance, waiting for her consent.
"Yes." She responds, clearly out of breath at the continuing pleasure he just gave her. "Fuck me, Levi. Please. I want you."
He smiles at her, a smile she hasn't seen on him before. A smile of love, of desire, of care. So genuine. He kisses her again before easing himself inside of her slowly.
Please, Levi. Please. Don't shut me out anymore.
◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦◦❁◦
Three days later. The day Asuna had been nervous for had finally arrived. Today, she would officially become Levi's wife, and be crowned the Queen of the Walls. Her stomach couldn't stop fluttering in nervousness, she doesn't think she has ever been so scared in her life, for anything. Since her and Levi had that talk a few nights before, he has been nothing but sweet and caring for her. She feels like they have been growing closer, and she finally felt safe and relaxed with him by her side every night. That didn't mean things were perfect though. Levi would still leave every morning and be gone most of the day, coming back at night to comfort her. She would have to reach out herself to ask him about things he had been doing that day, which he would tell her though with very little specifics. It was a work in progress, a work in progress that was going to be harder than she thought.
Dana and the other hand maidens wake Asuna up before the sun had come out. It had to be at least 4 or 5 am, the nerves that she felt that entire night had caused her to only get a mere 2 hours of sleep, maybe less. Levi was already gone, preparing for the wedding on his own terms, so to speak. Asuna showered, with more maids around her that she had wanted, invading her personal space, though at the same time, she had no idea what she was doing. Casually ready to be the bride to the King at a royal wedding with thousands of people seeing her is not something that she had ever done before, nor ever thought she would do.
Luckily, Dana had brought her a cup of caffeinated tea to help her stay awake, which wouldn't matter as her nerves would be keeping her awake all day. She drank it as the hand maidens brought in her elegant wedding dress. It looked like no other dress she had seen before. It was made of silk, shining in the light. The dress had clearly been worked on for weeks, it was so flowery, with sleeves that hung on her shoulders and made her waist feel snug and tight. It was luxurious. The only thing she didn't like about it was that it took almost an hour for her hand maids to put it on her because of how complex the dress was.
Dana had done her hair up so nicely that let half of her hair flow free, her gorgeous curls running down her shoulders as the other half was up in a beautiful braided updo. Lastly, they had put a small veil on top of her head that was surprisingly comfortable. Before long, she was all set, ready to set food outside the castle to get married to Levi once and for all. She took a deep breath, closing her eyes and trying to gather herself and her thoughts all at once, she hoped she didn't pass out from all of the nervousness that lingered inside her mind.
Dana walks up to her, Asuna being taller than her now because of her elegant white heels. She smiles, complimenting how beautiful her Queen looked and how lucky she was to be the personal hand maiden to such a sweet, gorgeous young woman. Taking her hand in hers, she smiles at her in hopes that it will calm her nerves a bit.
"Are you ready, my Queen?" Dana asks, squeezing her hand tighter. The reassurance that Dana gave her made her more confident for the day. More confident that her marriage will get easier. More confident that Levi can be the husband she wants him to be.
"Yeah," She smiles back at her, preparing to leave for the biggest day of her life. Dana's question also reminded her of the other night when Levi asked if she was ready for him. Though that question was under a different situation, she remembered it and thought of it in a different perspective other than just that lovely moment. She laughed to herself, believing she was over thinking it but who cared? She knew what she felt, and she was going to face it.
"I'm ready."
[AN: HELP!!! :0  I was going to make this chapter longer than it was because I wanted to include the wedding preparations as well as the coronation all in one chapter but when I finished this I thought this ending was a good stopping point.  Next chapter, yes. Stay tuned. This part of the story is a hard one to write because it's so specific in my head. Plsss dm or ask me with suggestions, I would love the feedback :) Wattpad is @ katstack if you are interested in reading it there! ]

The God, The Devil and The Lover, One Shot
Thank you for the prompt. Squealed a little when I saw this one! Hope you’re feeling better, too! mirkwoodshewolf submitted: The god, the devil, and the lover. Okay I’m thinking something domestic like Loki oc AND MATT MURDOCK. Like maybe our two boys taking care of reader while she’s very sick (I got the Covid over the weekend but I’m doing better now) I’m talking full on fluff. As much as I admire your smut fics, we need MORE FLUFF. And after seeing how you incorporated Matt Murdock in one of your fics it REALLY hit home just how much chemistry/rivalry the boys can have with OC.
-
Lorna groaned as she slid off her bed and started hobbling her way towards the door. But of course, she didn’t get very far before she was face to face with two chests, looking up, she gave a sheepish smile.
‘Darling, we thought you were sleeping so we left you in peace.’ Loki said as he put his arm around her for support.
‘You should’ve shouted if you wanted something.’ Matt said as he smoothed a hand down her hair.
‘I’m ok… I just wanted to go to the kitchen and get some water.’ Lorna tried to sound ok, but she wasn’t fooling anyone, especially not Loki and Matt. Her very over protective, yet caring and loving, boyfriends.
‘Come on, back to bed. Loki will get you your water.’ Matt said firmly as he scooped Lorna up into his arms and carried her back to bed.
Loki scowled at Matt, who just smirked upon feeling the hate radiating from Loki’s eyes into the back of his head.
‘I just want to get back to normal.’ Lorna whined as she was tucked back into bed.
‘I know, lovely. But it will take time to get your strength back. You just need to rest for now, let your body fight it off. Plenty of sleep will help that.’ Matt got comfortable on the bed next to her, leaning against the headboard.
Lorna snuggled into him as he stroked her hair softly, making her melt.
Loki returned swiftly with a glass of water. He had to hold back an annoyed grunt upon seeing the annoying devil snuggling with his loved one already.
But there was room for him at the other side of her, so Loki carefully joined them on the bed. Lorna loved being between them both, feeling so safe and secure.
They took turns stroking her hair, caressing her softly. Kissing her head and cheeks lots too, while a mindless programme was on in the background.
‘You need to let us look after you, darling. Ask when you need something. You know we will do anything for you.’ Loki said softly, stroking her arm.
‘I know… Thank you both.’ She said quietly, just feeling rather content in the moment.
Loki picked up a book and started reading to her, knowing how much she loved to just listen to him read. His voice was so soothing, apart from when he would often deliberately speak in a seductive tone, always making her squirm, but he knew this wasn’t the time for that.
She soon fell asleep between her two protector boyfriends. They stayed with her for most of the evening, only leaving to go to the bathroom and get themselves ready for bed. Then they were back with her, holding her and making sure she knew they were always there for her.
In the morning when she woke, she was feeling quite a bit better. Still not quite one hundred percent, but certainly over the worst of it and on the mend.
Loki and Matt were still asleep, so she slipped out of bed quietly to go to the bathroom and to brush her teeth. She was just finished when they both walked in, looking concerned. But they relaxed when they saw she was ok.
‘You look a bit better.’ Loki said as he put his palm to her forehead.
She smiled. ‘I am feeling a lot better. I really need a bath though, I think that will help.’
‘One bath, coming up.’ Matt said as he rushed to the tub and began running it, adding plenty of bubble bath.
‘I’m sure I’ll manage on my own.’ Lorna laughed lightly as Loki gently began removing her pyjamas for her.
‘No need when you have us.’ Loki grinned at her and kissed the tip of her nose, then her forehead, making her heart swell with happiness.
Matt took her hand and helped her into the tub. She let out a small groan as the warm water lapped at her skin and instantly soothed her achey bones. She sank back and sighed in contentment.
Loki and Matt both knelt down at either side of the bath tub, they had deliberately picked a house where the bath was in the middle of the bathroom so they could both pamper her together when the time arose. And this was one of those times.
She tried to playfully bat their hands away when they started washing her hair and body for her, but they growled at her in warning to behave.
Loki deliberately tickled her sides as he innocently washed her, but she could tell by the mischievous smirk that he was doing it on purpose.
‘Now, Loki. We both know how ticklish she is, be nice.’ Matt said in warning, yet with a smirk of his own as he rinsed her hair.
Loki just continued to smirk as his hand slipped down her leg and he tickled her foot, making her kick out and splash water about. Matt then couldn’t resist tickling her neck, making her squeak and try to protect said neck by scrunching her shoulder up.
‘Hey! Don’t be mean you two, I’m ill.’ She groaned with a laugh.
Matt chuckled and gently stroked her hair. ‘You said you were feeling better, and you were only saying yesterday that you were fine.’
Lorna huffed under her breath, making the men both laugh. But she knew how mean they could actually be, how often they would torture her. Whether with tickling or other means… They did play nice and after she enjoyed her bath, they dried her off with a big warm towel before marching her back to bed.
‘I’m feeling much better, I don’t need to go back to bed.’ She groaned.
‘You still need to take it easy.’ Loki said firmly as he tucked her back into bed.
‘As much as I hate to agree with Loki Poki, he’s right.’ Matt winked at her.
Loki glared at him and flicked his hand, using his magic to send Matt flying out the bedroom door. That slammed shut too.
‘Loki.’ Lorna said low and gave him a look.
‘What?’ Loki asked innocently.
‘You know.’ She laughed and hit his arm playfully.
‘Fine.’ Loki huffed and had the door open again, but not before jumping into bed right next to her so that Matt couldn’t retaliate without risk of hurting her.
Matt stormed back in, looking like he really was ready for a fight. But he was annoyed that Loki knew him too well, too. And he couldn’t do anything without hurting Lorna. So he just eyed him with a glare and stalked around the bed to get in at the other side.
‘Remind me to take you away somewhere he will never find us once you are better.’ Matt grumbled and tried to slip his arms around Lorna to pull her into him. But Loki also had his arms around her and wasn’t letting her go.
‘I will always find you.’ Loki growled.
Lorna just rolled her eyes as she found herself squashed completely between the two of them. She was glad she was genuinely feeling a lot better, since their competitive egos had risen for now. But deep down, she secretly liked it. The fact that two incredible beings would fight over her, and both loved her enough to deal with one another, even though they really didn’t like each other.
It was worth being squashed for.

This is love (Charlotte Katakuri x Hirawashi Len) [English version]
Summary
Who can love a monster like Charlotte Katakuri? He is the son of Charlotte Linlin, known as Big Mom, and the question of the second eldest child in the family is who could love someone like him.
The idea of him falls apart when he meets a somewhat tsundere girl, but with a heart of gold that will make the commander fall in love.
-----------x-----------
Chapter III
A quiet morning in Totto Land where the birds were singing to signal the new dawn. But also the hommies sang with happiness knowing that today will be another pleasant day to enjoy. The people of the city left their houses to return to their chores giving life to Sweet City. The hustle and bustle was present where you could perfectly hear the laughter of the little ones running around playing.
And in Big Mom's castle there was the peace that everyone was waiting for. And in one of the rooms they found Len still sleeping in the bartola. Her second hobby was to sleep in peace without anyone bothering her. And her first hobby? Eating until she was completely satisfied. And even though she knew she was in the world of sweets, it was the best thing that could happen to her in life.
Her sleep was interrupted when she heard someone knocking on the door. She gave a long yawn to what she sat on the bed looking at the door with some sleep. She grunted reluctantly and was having a rather interesting dream.
"Who the fuck is it?"
"M-Miss Hirawashi, breakfast is ready." She heard a man's voice on the other side of the door to which Len raised a strange eyebrow.
"I'm too lazy to go to the dining room."
"I-If you want you can eat in the room."
"I like the idea!"
The doors opened, making way for the cooks who brought the food needed to feed a normal person. Len sat on the edge of the bed looking at the dishes. Candy that was food for that kingdom, after all. She was drooling with so much candy in between. The men left the room, leaving the girl alone.
"This is definitely my paradise!" And without thinking, she began to eat, savouring every moment of the sweets.
-----------------
In the training room, there were the three older twins who were training non-stop. However, Katakuri made no effort to train, rather he watched his brothers. His thoughts began to wander and he began to think about why mother wants this girl to marry one of them. It was clear that this girl caused a great deal of interest in Big Mom. And not only because of her strength, but also because of her character. He put his hand on her scarf for fear that someone might see what he feared.
However, a brief sound made his thoughts scatter to see a small person running towards him and then embracing him like never before.
"Oni-sama!" shouted Flampe loudly.
"Is something wrong, Flampe?" he asked in a worried tone to his sister.
"I just wanted to see you and hug you," the little girl confessed, looking at her brother as her cheeks turned pink.
"Just for that or to bother him," Oven asked, seeing the two of them somewhat close together.
"You're a liability, Oven." Flampe stuck out her tongue in annoyance.
"Whatever you say, brat."
Both male brothers know perfectly well Flampe's obsession with Katakuri who even considered him a God above all men. She admired him so much that she would even kill anyone who took him away from her. Katakuri did only one thing: he put his hand on the little girl's head.
"Oni-sama ...," Flampe called Katakuri, "you're not going to marry that woman, are you?
"Hey brat, that's Mom's thing." Daifuku interrupted before his older brother said anything. "You can't decide if Katakuri and that dwarf are going to get married in the end."
"But don't you remember?" Oven hit Daifuku as a joke. "The girl said that we would have a month to impress her and during that time, she will decide. And if not... that's where mother would come in."
"I thought you admired that girl." This puzzled Flampe when she heard her older brother's voice.
"Yes... but I'd rather she married another of my brothers than you!"
"I wish I could refuse, but our mother chose me along with Daifuku, Oven, Perospero and Cracker." He bent down his whole body to keep up with his little sister by stroking her head. "You have to accept my destiny."
The only thing the little girl could do was to blow up her cheeks, annoyed that her brother is not paying attention to her. It was true that she wanted her older brother to be happy, but not with that girl. It didn't really give her confidence.
Flampe walked away from Katakuri and she is not going to give up so easily. She will prove that this young woman is not at all compatible with her brother. She turned on her heels and ran towards the door but hit someone causing him to fall backwards.
"Little Sister Flampe!" cried Perospero as he saw his sister on the floor. "What are you doing lying on the floor?"
"I think she's tired from all that training with the triplets," laughed Cracker receiving a glaring glance from his sister.
"You're such fools!"
"You're the fool here for meddling."
"Oh, come on, Cracker. Don't insult our little sister."
With all her pride shattered by her brother Cracker, she runs away, leaving the five strongest men in the Charlotte family alone.
Silence. An uncomfortable silence for those men. Only the breathing of each one could be heard trying to assimilate this uncomfortable situation. But he looked at the triplets who were quietly in their place. He smiled proudly as he slowly approached with movements that would be somewhat elegant for any living being.
"Well ...," he says something finally, "how do you plan to impress the girl?"
"Do you really ask that?" A vein came out of Daifuku's temple.
"You have to have a strategy if you want that girl to notice you," spoke the older one, "she's young and beautiful, and she's a beast. That's what mum said, imagine marrying that girl, we should have some pretty interesting and strong kids".
"You only want to marry to please mother," Oven reproached him, "however, I don't deny it. For a small body she has a supernatural strength." He sat down on one of the benches in the room.
"That's why mother trusts us."
"But that brat hasn't had breakfast with our family."
"Mother didn't bother him at all," Cracker spoke, standing next to his brother Katakuri while looking at Daifuku, "and it's very strange about her.
"She knows perfectly well that if she wants this girl to marry one of us, she has to do everything possible to make her comfortable." Katakuri crossed his arms giving his opinion to his brothers.
"As you always hit the nail on the head in everything, Katakuri."
"She's our mother, we should know what she looks like by now."
"And that's why you came, Perospero, to ask us if we have a strategy yet," Oven asked, already getting on our nerves in this conversation.
"I came to look for her." This surprised the triplets. "That's why I came with Cracker to look for the girl. From what I heard, she came out of her room fresh from breakfast and I don't know where she is."
"Lost." The Cookie Man was actually quite amused by the whole thing.
------------------
"This is huge!"
And indeed that's what Cracker said, young Len was more lost than a whale that was home. It wasn't that she had a loss of orientation but, as this was new to her, it was very easy to get lost. Big Mom should have given her a guide to know where the toilets were in case she had a pretty big emergency.
Or when she got an appetite. That makes her feel bad if she doesn't eat. That's why I preferred to know the places of one, before it's too late for anyone to put in the middle. But it was a huge castle with too many rooms! This was too much for Len! Although she realizes one thing: the castle was made of candy. In case of emergency she could break a piece and then the soldiers would take care of it. And she didn't care if that woman killed her for such a thing.
Oh, she remembered. She was here because of Lurke and now she had to marry one of her five children. While she walks around to see if there was an interesting room, she thinks and remembers the aspects of those children.
Charlotte Perospero. She didn't like him for a good reason: he has wrinkles and also has a long tongue. You could see that she likes sweets because of the cane, but she was not her type. Besides, she does not want to imagine what she could do with her tongue. A chill ran through his whole body.
Charlotte Daifuku. He had a body that was disproportionate to his taste. Besides, he was shaved and that look seemed to rape you at any moment.
Charlotte Oven. Another one with a disproportionate body especially his arms that seemed to only train them. And his hair... For God's sake! She didn't like her hairstyle at all. If I was her I would shave it off without thinking.
Charlotte Cracker. He seemed cute, besides the scar that ran down his face makes him a bit attractive. However, she heard that he possessed a Devil's Fruit where he invoked like a biscuit puppet. Even then he considered him to be a wimp, even though he was well endowed.
And Charlotte Katakuri. A very tall man, quite tall. Perfect body, tattoo that ran all over the commander's belly and chest. Serious look, she would even say that he was the most serious of the five. Maroon eyes and hair. A bit mysterious, especially with that scarf. Was he always cold and covering it up? She would say that he was the most normal.
"Katakuri ...," she says her name quietly without anyone listening.
Besides, looking at his height he thought that maybe he was the strongest of them all and that maybe it would be interesting to fight with him. She crossed her arms in a pensive way with her head raised looking at the ceiling. He and she would make a great couple, but the difference in age and height is abysmal. She was a normal size human, but he ... he was too tall!
However, all that went away when she heard a door open and saw some children coming out of it with books in their hands. They were Linlin's little children, and it wasn't the only thing that came out, there was also a big man... full of whipped cream all over his face?
"Children, don't tear up the books, please-fa!" cried the man as he watched the little ones disappear from his sight. "Mum, he'll kill me if you break them," he sighed heavily and turned his head slightly to find Len looking at him curiously. "... Oh, it's you-fa!" he shouted in surprise almost leaving the young woman deaf.
"Why do you all have the habit of shouting at me?!"
"I'm s-sorry-fa..."
"And you have a very strange way of talking."
"It's not my fault I have this habit-fa." That man was getting nervous.
"Is it a verbal tic?" asked Len raising her eyebrow.
"I guess-fa..."
Len was not going to discriminate against him for doing such a thing, as she has met people with that problem and saw it as something normal in life. Her eyes were fixed on the big door that was being covered by that man's big back. With determination and curiosity, she approached the place. The whipped cream man was just looking at nothing, however, when he saw that the girl was not there, he turned around and found her looking at all the books in the library.
"Please don't damage any book-fa!"
"What's your name?" asked Len as she approached the bookshelf.
"Opera. Charlotte Opera-fa," replied the man who was shaking with fear.
"Opera, may I stay here?" She picked up a book by looking at the flap. "I like to read and I want to spend my time here until it's lunchtime."
"... Of course Len-chan!"
The young woman smiled at the word. How she loved that someone didn't deny her a place where she felt comfortable. Now to devote all that time to reading.
Not far from there, it was possible to hear footsteps in the distance as if they were looking for something. And clearly, yes. Big Mom's children started looking for young Len who knows where they are. They had already passed by her room to see if she was there, but there was no sign of life. Had she left the castle? It was impossible because the soldiers would have already sounded the alarm. She wasn't even in the kitchen. Man, they had a habit of going to the kitchen to get some food, so they went there and nothing.
Daifuku's face already showed that he was getting fed up with this kind of game. It was absurd, they will never find the girl, he thought from time to time. The others were too quiet, they just had to be patient. Although it's really been about an hour since they set out on their quest throughout the castle.
They decided to take a short break and think very hard about where she would really be. Katakuri walked away from that group wanting to think alone. She was a young girl with a lot of energy. Where would she go? To the training room? Impossible because that's where she was and I don't think she's there. In the toilets? No, because she had her own bathroom. Did she leave the castle? It was possible, but looking for the exit would take hours.
His ears were pricked up by the sound of small steps running in his direction. He turned his head a little and found little Dolce and Dragée holding a book in their hands. Wait a minute, what if she is in the library?
"Good morning, big brother!" the twins shouted, calling the attention of the others.
"Good morning, boys," greeted Katakuri, matching up with his brothers, "can you help me to find a certain person?
"Sure, brother!"
"Have you seen Hirawashi Len by any chance? When he said his name, the eyes of the little ones lit up.
"The strongest girl in Grand Line?!" Katakuri nodded. "We saw her by the library, maybe she's reading a book."
"Thank you," he thanked, watching the twins leave.
"Library? She must be a boring girl," said Oven, not liking the idea of going there.
"Oh, come on, it will only take a moment," rebuked Perospero, starting to walk to the library with his brothers.
Actually, they were next to the book room. When they were young they spent time there playing and reading, discovering new words and ways of living life. And if anyone did any damage to the library, Charlotte Linlin would make sure they had a good time.
In a while, they were already in front of the big room so Perospero, decisively, opened the doors and felt his brother Opera's gaze on him.
"Perospero-fa!"
"Hello, little brother," he greeted as he entered with the others.
"Are you coming to take a book?" he asked nervously, he had great respect for his older brother.
"No, I'm here because certain little birds have told me that the new tenant is in this room. Is that true?" Opera nodded sharply at what Perospero smiled broadly. "And where is she? Because I don't see her."
Opera doesn't say a word, he simply said with his finger up, as if to say that the young lady was upstairs. That shows confusion in the candy man who was getting irritated. Opera, getting even more nervous, pointed to the staircase there to climb up one of the shelves and pick up books.
Katakuri, following the elevation of the stairs, found the young woman standing on the wood reading a book. She was at a fairly high height. From the height, where they are, anyone would notice any detail about her. And really, it was like that, because the young woman, as usual, had her skirt on and was exposing her panties. Katakuri raised her eyebrow thinking that if that girl wasn't ashamed to do that kind of thing
"I don't look at her for that reason," confessed Opera, turning redder than usual.
"What an interesting girl," laughed Cracker.
"Miss! We finally found you!" cried Perospero, trying to get the young woman's attention. "I thought you were lost all over the castle and I didn't expect to find you in this place."
However, Len was so focused on reading that she did not listen. It was as if a bubble had been created in her head to reduce the noise around her. Books were her undoing and more so when it came to mysterious novels or ships sailing to find great treasures.
And the most interesting thing was that, as she was fond of reading, she finished one book in ten to get the next one. Let's say that she not only trained her body to lift abysmal weights, but also her eyes to read faster and get more information. And that was bad? On the contrary, it highlighted that her brain worked harder and made her smart.
Katakuri noticed that the young woman was so focused on reading that she would leave one book, take another and so on. Was reading her hobby? He tilted his head, curious and looked at his brother Opera.
"How many books have you read?"
"Since he got here...," he started counting on his fingers not to lose count, "fifty books in forty minutes."
"Fifty books?!" Oven and Daifuku shouted without believing it.
"Oh, my, our future wife loves to read," said Perospero, feeling a drop run down his temple.
"Why do I get the feeling that, apart from being strong, she is intelligent? A twitch appeared in Cracker's eye, impressed by the young woman's reading ability.
"Miss! Wouldn't you like to put books aside and focus for a moment on your future husbands?" Perospero asked, but to no avail.
"Brat! Get the hell down!" shouted Daifuku, losing his patience, but without waiting, he was hit by one of Len's books. She heard it and did that to shut him up?
"That's what you get for calling her that!" laughed Oven as he watched a small lump appear on his brother. But he got the same tip. "You little brat! Come down and fight!"
"I'll bet she'd give you the thrashing of her life," laughed Cracker, receiving a murderous look from Oven.
"Miss, I'm asking you nicely." He was begging Perospero, already feeling a vein appear on his temple. "You brat... Katakuri tell her something!"
The oldest of all orders the second male to do something. Yell at her, stretch her body to get her out of here ... he has to do something to get the girl to show some attention! Does he really always have to get them out of it? The maroon eyes of the commander fixed on the body of the young woman, who was still up there.
It would really be difficult to get someone like that out. It was like when it was his snack time and he didn't like anyone bothering him. Katakuri's footsteps were present as he approached the staircase and kept looking at Len. He cleared his throat a little, ready to make some kind of speech.
"Hirawashi Len," he said her name completely, where the young woman stopped on a page hearing how someone was calling her, "my brothers and I want you to come with us so that you can know us better and see our tastes, and if any of us are the right one to be your husband."
Len turned her body a little to look down and see Katakuri's face. Did he ask her nicely? I thought he was going to be rude to her, but it seemed not to. She listened perfectly to the conversation that took place between the brothers to make her short, but he asked in a way that she liked very much. Decidedly, she closed the book suddenly to put it on the shelf.
Katakuri couldn't believe his eyes. Is she listening to him? It seems that he hit the nail on the head if he spoke to her like that. But one laugh was heard in the room, and it was Cracker who couldn't stop laughing.
"A little kindness and you decide to come down? I thought I was a prouder woman and..." He didn't finish the sentence because he felt someone fall on him and leave him on the floor knocked out by the position.
Len was the cause of that little accident. She jumped from the top and stood on top of it causing it to fall. For a short girl she knew exactly where she had to nail. However, the position was not a pleasant one. Cracker on the floor, she sat on her chest with her legs spread out showing her underwear.
Any man had a chance anyway and the commander was getting nervous having the young woman on top of him and more in that position. He neither moves nor breathes. It was as if an elephant had burst on him. Even his brothers less Katakuri were impressed by that.
"Watch your mouth, charlatan," Len warned, crossing her arms and looking at the boy with a serious look on her face, "your brother has been able to convince me and you are just laughing like an idiot." This made Oven ya Daifuku laugh and try to contain the laughter. "If you really wanted me to come down, just ask me nicely and not like the idiot and old Perospero and your grumpy twin brothers."
"Did you call me old?"
"Grumpy?"
The eldest of the triplets, although he couldn't see himself behind the scarf, smiled at every taunt the young woman made of his brothers. She didn't even cut her hair to tell the truth. It can be seen that she was sincere and when things bothered her she said so.
Len, on the other hand, stood up and carefully arranged her skirt as he let Cracker sit and look at the young man very badly, for leaving him so vulnerable at that moment. The young woman only stuck out her tongue in annoyance, something that irritated the young man of the brothers very much.
"You are all rude," says the young woman, addressing the door about to leave, "none of you have the right to know me and be my husband because that is what you are, rude and mama's children." She knows perfectly well that it was a great inconvenience for Charlotte's children to make fun of them and especially of their mother. "However ...," Len stared at Katakuri, who was just leaning against the wall watching the scene with amusement, "Katakuri, could you be kind and be my guide in this gigantic castle?"
Each and every one of those present looked at the mentioned one who was only looking at the young woman. Did she want him to be her guide? Because of his kindness? It was clear that this young woman had super strange tastes. But if she wanted to fulfill her mother's wish, he would do it. He separated his back from the wall and then walked towards her and left, not before seeing that the young woman only looked at him impressed by his size.
They say nothing. They just stared at each other, as if it was enough to say things to each other. Len was impressed by the size of this one. Her head was below the knee of her eldest. A twitch in her eye appeared and she lifted her head to face him and say something to him.
"Are you going to keep growing?"
"I don't know, I guess," Katakuri says honestly, bowing his head a little, but he noticed one thing. Was she looking at him or something else?
"Stop staring at my brother's crotch, you pervert!" Oven shouted, noticing that.
"It's not my fault that I'm too tall and my head is stuck there and I'm imagining things I'm not supposed to!
"Anyway," Katakuri broke up the conversation, standing next to him, "let's go before I leave you behind."
Len turned on her heels, noticing her cheeks turning like volcanoes about to erupt because of Oven's comment. Will it always be like this? The relationship between Katakuri and Len was about to begin.
