YET ANOTHER long and obnoxious stream of my thoughts while watching greys anatomy for the first time (SEASON 16 bc i decided i will try to catch up to you guys who are awaiting S20)
-tom koracick, despite all outward appearances, is far too nice
-bailey pisses me off sometimes bc she usually isn’t wrong, but within the parameters of how everyone behaves on the show, her decisions feel wrong, yk? like irl absolutely she should have fired them without a doubt. but in this soapy medical show in which everyone commits malpractice five times a week, it feels like she’s overreacting lmao. does that make any sense?
-meredith in her community service outfit is kind doing something to me
-a man on a scooter just ran into maggie and amelia’s car and it startled me so bad i drew blood with my cross-stitching needle!
-lisa ann walter!! and charmed cast in the same ep!
-bailey and i are beefing actually
-do NOT have another affair, richard webber
-“how come my mom hasn’t called from sleepover community service?” sleepover community service PLS
-a lumineers song in the background!!! the music is good again
-why is owen pulling this bullshit again!!!!!!!!!!
-bailey is making me so fucking mad right now. she has no room to act morally superior considering some of the shit she’s pulled. she also continues to have this attitude that meredith should owe her something for being her teacher…. which is sort of valid but let’s not pretend that bailey doesn’t owe meredith quite a bit too. idk again it’s one of those things again where in real life, she’s be perfectly justified but within the fictional guidelines set up by the show, she’s being a vindictive asshole.
-patricia!!!!!
-“she is the sun and she is unstoppable” !!!!!
-addison wrote one too!!!!
-this episode is potentially a little too sentimental and overly emotional but i really really like it. the nostalgia bait made me like it even more actually
-more lumineers!!!! i really like this episode. (i’ll stop now but it’s the first episode in a really long time that i’ve really enjoyed the entire thing)
-everyone is being really dramatic about koracick he really isn’t that bad
-i want to like schmitt it just feels like we were sort of thrown into deep emotional story lines for him without getting to know him beyond surface level. maybe it’s just me it just feels like the show wants me to have a certain level of emotional investment in him that i don’t have (yet?)
-beanie feldstein!
-teddy’s sparkly little winter hat is so cute
-TEDDY NO. i don’t mind if you cheat on owen tbh but plz don’t play with tom’s feelings instead of facing your problems.
-i’ll not comment a lot on the alex thing bc i had spoilers for it and honestly it’s just so ridiculous. it’s one of those things that i don’t blame the character for bc i know it was the writers and other irl circumstances. i imagine from izzies perspective this is the culmination of a beautiful crazy love story akin to the notebook. but from our perspective this sounds like the lie you tell your kids when the family dog dies- “oh he went to live on a farm”
-does richard have another brain tumor??? this doesn’t seem like a relapse but…
-i know it’s wrong but i wouldn’t mind this affair if i thought the show was treating teddy/tom as a serious option. as it stands, i just think teddy is being selfish
-i knew the baby wasn’t gonna be owens
-i KNEW this would be a boy who cried wolf situation with deluca. unfortunately, he also is struggling mentally i think but i don’t know if he’s manic or suffering from a break. they had me convinced i was wrong for a minute, but i knew it would turn out that he was right about the girl being trafficked. but i definitely think that he was nowhere near ready to come back to work and that the psychologist should not have cleared him. i hope he gets the help he needs soon bc i really like deluca :(
-the conference in LA would’ve been the perfect opportunity for an addison cameo
-OOH A TWIST IN TEDDY’S BACKSTORY. this explains a lot
-OOH SO MANY TWISTS THIS EPISODE.
-i am fighting for my life trying to defend teddy in my head. i hate owen as much as the next guy but this whole thing is brutal to watch.

y/ndevils00 happy happy preseason to us all!!
our fierce satan spawn played split-squad tonight, which means some of my lovely boys went on a quick trip to Montreal to play against the Habs, and the other stayed back in Jersey to play against the Flyers!
i, of course, when given the choice, chose to go to Canada with Jacky and idiots 1 and 2 🫶
AND OH HOW WELL OUR BOYS DID! our Devils at home got a whopping 6-0 shutout against the gritty worship cult! congratulations sluts!
meanwhile, in MTL, these boys won 4-2!!
to start us off, Joe Gambardella got us a goal about halfway through the first period! i tried to get a picture, but he kinda hid behind best friend number 2… i think Jack is teaching the new people and i don’t like it!
then, my favorite child, Simon Nemec got a mind blowing, highlight reel goal, in which the puck bounced off the boards behind the goal net and then bounced off the goalie’s skate and into the net! with an assist from the one and only Jackson Rowden Hughes!!
best friend number 1 got a great power play goal off another assist from my oh so lovely boyfriend!
and to top it all off, that oh so lovely boyfriend got a power play goal! earning him a 3 point night! POP OFF BABY!! YOU DID SO WELL!! I’M SO PROUD OF YOU!!
altogether, your New Jersey Devils won both games with a combined 10 points! we’re SO back, baby!!

Hey so uh, student studying psychology, I agree.
Personal story that will end up relating to Viv, I promise. (Please do not take this as a diagnosis either, but I also noticed Viv and my ex share troubling personality traits)
Not APA, but I had an ex who I'm pretty sure has NPD (He is also autistic, and I am as well). We got along so well, probably because we were both autistic. It was a long-distance relationship we had for 4 years.
I had a very troubled childhood growing up, and hardly had any friends in school. I never went to hang out with anyone, I always came straight home. I was extremely isolated for those 4 years because my caregiver was extremely abusive to me. My ex was all I had.
For 4 years, he promised me I was the only one he ever wanted. He told me what I wanted to hear, and became a completely different person to disguise who he really was underneath. Ironically, he "works" as a filmmaker/actor. Sometimes I knew it felt off, he'd pressure me into doing things I was uncomfortable with (only a year and half age difference so he wasn't an older guy grooming me (but he was still absolutely grooming me. I was also a minor at this time.)
He'd also lovebomb the shit out of me, as well as using a term called "future faking", where the person promises you a grand future and that everything is going to be wonderful and amazing. It's a tactic, like lovebombing, to keep the victim hooked for as long as possible. He promised me we'd get a shitty apartment together, that he'd "take me away" from the abuse I was suffering from for so long.
He promised me a family. Children. Marriage. Everything and anything I needed to hear to keep me in his power.
For his "movies" he would go to conventions and find D list actors to be in his stuff and he would, in private, go off about how he's got these "amazing actors" from xyz movie. He'd also gloat about the expensive equipment he'd gain access to. Like Viv at GlitchX, he would never shut the fuck up about his projects and ideas. He was extremely self centered. He loved taking photos with them with smug looks on his face too. He also literally took a picture of himself kissing himself, with a mirror filter, and showed me in private. I brushed it off but always thought it was weird. I wish I was joking.
He would also lose his ever loving shit if you critiqued him. He would actually cry and throw childish tantrums. And not even his stuff, if you said ANYTHING negative about his interests, he would take it as a personal attack. Not even that, if you just gave a "meh" reaction to something he'd show you, he'd also get super passive aggressive and pissed.
I think part of that is the autism (I struggle with people not liking things I like too. I get bummed out and sometimes pissed, but never to the degree that he did.) but it was always uncomfortable for me. But I always championed his movies. I never once said a negative thing about them. Not in private or to him.
Fast forward to me finding out he cheated on me, and continued to cheat on me with 5+ people over the entire course of our relationship. I read horrific messages between him and those people, where he called me a "bitch" and would actively plan out "how to get me back" whenever I tried leaving him (because again, I had weird feeling about him but he always managed to pull me back in).
And I'm not going to lie, I was shitty towards him. I took my anger out on him from the abuse I suffered because he was the only person in my life.
I regret that to this day. I never should've yelled at him or treated him badly when he was (at least to me) genuinely trying to make me happy.
All he cared about was himself and getting his dick wet. He still tries to tell me (if he can get his messages through) that he always loved me, and he just made mistakes as a "stupid kid."
It took a long time to get away from him and see that he was extremely unhealthy. He also has very dangerous gross fetishes, that I even didn't know about when we dated.
So yeah... they both are very similar for sure. Paperskin egos, takes criticism as a direct attack, self-centered, collecting people, hiding their true personalities, using people to climb the ranks to meeting celebs and using them in their work, lovebombing their victims...
Again, this doesn't confirm either one has NPD, but Viv reminds me a lot of my ex. And it's not good at all.
And this is MY experience. In no way shape or form am I demonizing anyone else who has this disorder.
And if you've experienced these things from someone, I am so sorry. I hope you can get the help you need.
Thank you for your story, Anon. I'm so sorry that happened to you.
Not going to say anything, just going to leave this here so people can draw their own conclusions.

since we are introduced to all of the Sins' kids. I feel like Tristan is a bit meh. Don't get me wrong he's a nice character and all but he's not that interesting sure he has troubles with his demon side but I myself saw that one coming but really that's all he has and we basically already know much about him. Lancelot has his own character mystery which is an exciting thing to explore. The Kiane kids will be supporting characters at most so I'm not expecting too much but Nakaba is doing a good job with writing them and distinguishing each of their characters considering there are 7 of them the twist Nakaba did in this arc also made things interesting for the characters involved. I saw a theory @winterlogysblog posted about the whole Nasiens and Mertyl situation being sus which is an interesting thing to look into. Sixtus is slowly being introduced as a powerhouse sure he got stabbed in this current chapter but with the way Nakaba hyped him up, it would only make sense for a Peril to beat him which for a supporting character is a high bar to be on for a first introduction.
But Tristan is rumored to be in prison so shakes things up a bit and I hope that'll make his character a lot more interesting for me at least
Tristan is definitely going to have changed quite a between we see him again in the timeskip .
If he really is imprisoned by arthur then we have no idea.
No idea what kind of physical or psychological torture he could've gone through .
Arthur could be exploiting his magic to use it for himself .
Or he could be toying with him and mocking him with chaos showing him all kinds of horrors.
He could show Tristan when Meliodas and Zeldris his beloved father and uncle terrorising britannia .
Or he could show Elisabeth in her Bloody Ellie days, slaughtering people without mercy.
Arthur could actually RUIN the relationship between Elisabeth and Meliodas and actually has the opportunity to TRAUMATISE one of the Four knights of the apocalypse permanently .
If Tristan is REALLY being imprisoned by arthur, I am both excited and terrified to see him again because if he really is he won't be the same little bean he was before :( .
( I rlly hope he's just ran off to try and master his powers or smth and that he's not being tortured by arthur )
Thanks for the ask
Keep the em oming you guys !

Okay @vixonimus I watched the 2004 hungarian version thoughts under the cut (bc it‘s quite a lot)
I really enjoyed it. I had feared that my not understanding hungarian and having to rely on subtitles would linder my enjoyment but I am glad to report that it didn‘t.
The entire thing is choreographed so great (especially the ensemble: the fan-dancing-girls, the one guy in the Bad Ischl scene who just twerks for like 30secs straight, also that one guy who kisses Lucheni‘s suitcase in Kitsch?? The ensemble is so expressive and fun.)
Also the stage-scenery is good (I really liked the design of it. Elisabeth‘s dressing room and the setting during first 4 years are my favorites but most of them are really nice)
costumes are a little meh… there are no vines and in general they aren‘t spectacular but it didn‘t bother me to hell and back or anything.
It is really good at guiding the watcher through the story: Things get shown, connected, explained by Luchini, and are generally sensible.
There is a lot of politics but it is done in a way that is cohesive and easily understandable: The Hungarian side of things gets shown at every step of the way (as well as the disparity in opinion in Eljen which explains/shows later hungarian unhapiness in a way that the german versions don’t?), The austrian commoners/developement of nationalist hatred and antisemitism also get‘s shown clearly and distinctly. Elisabeth‘s development and both personal and political impact (position as an idol, grasp at power, complicity in negative development, abandonment of responsibility in favour of personal freedom). Sophie‘s desperate attempt at upholding the absolutist system she believes in. Franz Joseph‘s deadly impassivity, inwhich he just follows his mother or Elisabeth and otherwhise just wallows in his broken heart letting his country sink into hatred. AND ALL OF THIS WITHOUT GETTING CONFUSING.
Rudolph especially works as a kind of centerpoint for many of these political arcs (except Sophie, they don‘t have the „Kind oder Nicht“ scene which would‘ve connected them), but otherwise he deals with about everything listed above. (I especially feel the way he stumbles into „Hass“ is really nice and kinda solves many of the problems people bring up about it feeling disjointed).
During „Mama, wo bist du“ he brings up shadows a lot, which along with a lot of other references to the downfall of the Habsburg Empire ties really nicely into the political angle (also just shadows have so many meanings: Literal shadows, his fears in general, the downfall of the empire, the growing hatred in the empire, his own declining mental health)
I didn‘t like how in „Wenn du mein Spiegel wärst“, Rudolph‘s entire request was about his divorce? In the german version there‘s a line about it sure, but making the entire thing about a marriage we never heard of before when his entire arc was about politics and literally comitting treason against his father, that seemed really disappointing to me.
Tod for Rudolph is pretty much something pressuring him into taking more of a political stance (both bc his own rising desperation and bc ofc the manifestation of death is interested in further nearing the Death of the Habsburg Empire) and it works so well i feel. for Elisabeth it‘s a little muddled bc of the „romance“ angle that Lucheni‘s framework (or Meta-reasons whatever you want to call it) places on it (Not a fan of death solo). But in general it‘s not the worst Tod I‘ve ever seen? At times he really seems to be desperation and hopelessness (like when he tries to tempt her into suicide by talking about the end of the world; end of the world being both the eventual end of the monarchy and also her childhood and her pre-first child death world) and at other‘s he‘s just luring her in. („You are just decoration to his bed“ was fire though) (that‘s good btw.)
I also likes that he just pops up, that‘s important in Tod for me. He‘s the manifestation of death and not an actual person, he will further death in every form that it takes and everywhere it might take place (again political angle very important)
(I‘m not sure I can be impartial about FJ in this version bc his actor is just very attractive to me. He seems sympathetic and totally unable to do anything except obey, wallow and simp. But I really liked the depiction of his unsureness in the first act, how he goes from a really lovesick guy marrying his wife to „clearly very annoyed but is trying to hold it together for both her and the empire“ to „at the breaking point grovelling but also still upset will scream about something being just education“ to „okay babe I will give you whatever you want forever actually haha“ and then doing nothing ever again except being sad missing and worrying about his wife. BUT yeah I really liked FJ in this version :) )
The physical depiction of Elisabeth‘s father and Sophie as ghost‘s as a symbol of Elisabeth‘s growing self-doubt/self-hatred were very nice.
I never heard a version of „fröhliche Apokalypse“ I didn‘t like and this is no exception :)
(Also that Todcheni handkiss moment???)
There‘s probably more but this is everything that‘s in my head immediately after watching it :)

So...apparently The Impossible Heir only has 12 episodes in total, I thought it was gonna be a 16-episode series. I have just finished episode 6 but I have also spoiled myself for the next couple of episodes that I already have the gist of the direction of the story. I may or may not post a full commentary/review about the series once I am done with all 12 episodes but so far, here's what I have to say:
I do agree that the storyline had a lot of potential, but unfortunately, they fell short as far as storytelling is concerned. The lines were just meh and the lead actress was so painful to watch, painful in the sense that I don't want to see her on-screen, that's how bad her performance was.
Choi Hee-jin was the saving grace of the show, despite being the second lead with only a handful of lines and a few minutes on screen, she NAILED every scene she was in. Lee Jae-wok, Lee Jun-young, and the rest of the cast did really well despite the crappy storyline.
Honestly, they could have saved this whole ass show had they shifted the focus on Han Taeoh and Kang Huiju's relationship the moment Na Hyewon pushed through her marriage with Kang Inha. I'll never get tired of saying this, but Jae-wok and Hee-jin have MUCH better chemistry than all of the former's scenes with Hong Suzu combined. It could have been an opportunity for Taeoh and Huiju to work together and find out the truth about who was trying to fuck up Taeoh or whatever and take KangOh together by storm, and eventually Taeoh realizing that he actually likes Huiju (I mean come on, if they gave an open ending for these two, why not just let them fall madly in-love with each other?) They could have been THE power couple of the show, and the entire series could have been saved.
I hope Jae-wok and Hee-jin would be given an opportunity to work together again as the lead actors of a drama or a film. They deserve a much better project than this.
Oh, and bring in the Taeoh x Huiju fanfics. I would love to read all of them ❤️

opinions on Atsushi and Fukuchi ? BTW feel free to ignore this ask, since ik you're primarily a Dazai analysis blog. Idk, I feel like the concept of Atsushi as a character had AMAZING potential, but somehow he's given (imo) less fleshing - out than Dazai and the others. The other characters get interesting little quirks and opinions, Atsushi gets none. I just wish BSD would develop its protagonist better. I really wanna like Atsushi but he's just written so MEH at times.
Oh and, why do you think Atsushi was chosen as the protagonist? No, I'm not saying any other character would make a better one. But I'm curious about Atsushi's significance to the story's themes. For example, do you think Sigma, Ango, Akutagawa or Yosano could have been the protag instead ? They tend to fit the common protag archetypes more I guess.
Also I see a lot of fandom gate for Fukuchi, which I think is dumb because a former nationalist getting PTSD from the atrocities he committed for his country, and then vowing to destroy the concept of national boundaries, is awesome and metal as fuck. Yeah of course Asagiri gives him that dumb flatulence schtick and some loony OP gimmicks cuz burnout / anime idiosyncrasies, but he's a character who deserves much more appreciation cuz he's so INTERESTING. I'm not saying he's a poor meow meow. He's morally grey but he makes some valid points, and he's a great exploration of fascism, guilt and the dark side of man - made boundaries.
As far as I could tell, Atsushi is actually the standard protagonist archetype for his genre. He’s a filled-in blueprint of what a fantasy protagonist usually is.
The basic formula for a fantasy genre protagonist is, first and foremost; somebody who’s an outsider. Someone who’s unfamiliar with how the magic system works, so that the story has an excuse to explain it to them—and through that, explain it to the audience, who are outsiders to the magical system as well.
The second step to the make-a-protagonist formula is to make them bland—or at least bland relative to the characters they’re surrounded by. You want the audience to be able to project themselves onto the protagonist, so making them overly-gimmicky or with too much of a unique personality may turn people away. You want them to be someone the audience could picture themselves as. You want them to have the highest possible relatability. Atsushi’s the guy with the fewest gimmicks, so. He’d be the LOP of the show. Least Objectionable Protagonist. (yeah I do think I’m funny and I’m hoping all media students find me funny as well) (I’m leaving this joke in for the one person who gets it and finds it funny)
Step three is to make them overpowered. It doesn’t have to be overpowered by that world’s power standards, but they have to have a surefire way to succeed often, and to be potentially seen as a threat by others (<-that’s the thing that usually makes conflict happen). They often start out rather weak so that they have room to learn and grow, but it becomes apparent quickly that they could potentially be the strongest once they learn how to use their abilities properly.
Atsushi checks all these boxes perfectly.
All other BSD characters don’t fit into that mold. Atsushi didn’t know about abilities and didn’t know about the agency/mafia/guild, and so it all had to be explain to him (and simultaneously, to us). All characters listed other than Sigma would be disqualified from the start, for being within these systems from a much younger age and therefore unable to learn about them for the first time during the course of the show (and age is a pretty common factor in the Blueprint for Fantasy Protagonists too).
As for Sigma, I’m not saying he’s designed to be similar to Atsushi, but. If the mangaka decided to explicitly have characters in canon say “hey you remind me of my coworker,” then who am I to argue with that. Sigma was designed to resemble Atsushi (in personality, at least). He was designed to have a convenient ability to be used when needed. I have no doubt that he’ll be returning to the story, on the basis that his ability is too convenient to lose. But a guy designed to resemble the story’s protagonist is not the most likely candidate for the protagonist role.
Funnily enough, we do get to see what other BSD characters would be like in the role of protagonist thanks to the light novels. Ranpo/Fukuzawa, Chuuya, Dazai, etc. etc. have all had their chance to be in the spotlight. But notice how their quirks from the main series have been toned down through rationalizing them via a first person POV—in 15, we don’t view Chuuya as short tempered or easily annoyable because we see what’s really going on—he’s working towards his own goal on the side. So when Dazai goads him into a stupid bet, we don’t see him as easily-provokable for accepting, but rather someone who’s trying to figure out how much this mafia guy really knows about the case they’re working on—the one where, as we later find out, he has a personal connection to.
And with this added insight into the thought behind his actions, we can see him as a rational and cautious person—cancelling out his seemingly impulsive actions, and taking away his primary “gimmick.”
Removing a gimmick turns a character from a caricature to a human, and as audience members, we’d love to see humanized versions of all the characters—but for the writer, the gimmicks make them stand out and differentiate them from each other. Now that we’re so much farther into the story, both us and Asagiri know all the characters much better now, and there’s definitely a higher chance of characters becoming more humanized in the future (note how a few characters have lost their gimmicks as the story progressed—Dazai became less focused on suicide, Ranpo became more competent and willing to do his job..). So I have high hopes that, while we probably will continue BSD with Atsushi getting meh character development, we will most likely see a few more light novels with other fan-favorites in the protagonist role.
NOW onto Fukuchi.
Fukuchi doesn’t deserve the hate he gets. His entire character is very Fullmetal Alchemist-esque. And we all love Fullmetal Alchemist. I truly don’t understand why we love the cast of FMAB and understand the story it’s trying to tell, but cannot understand Fukuchi. Yes, sometimes people go to war. And sometimes people to awful, horrible things. And then come to regret it. And want to make a change, and want to fix things, no matter what the cost may be. Why can we all root for Roy Mustang but draw the line at Fukuchi. Is the primary difference that Fukuchi is more powerful and therefore capable of and the cause of more destruction? Is it because Roy is a 20-something year old attractive guy and Fukuchi is an old man? Who knows, I think Roy with Fukuchi’s level of power might have been about the same as him.
But why fandom circles choose to hate specific characters will always be a mystery to me. (even I, a professional hater, am baffled by a lot of what I see here)
Regardless, this is longer than I intended it to be. I hope I covered the topics properly, thanks for the ask!!

So I really loved the PJO show. I wish we get a second season, and a fourth and so on all the way through heroes of olympus because it’s just so good. If you feel like reading my (NOT spoiler free) rambles:
- Percy’s loyalty and dedication to his mom is just so integral to his character and they RESPECT THAT.
- I really like what I’ve seen mentioned about how both casting wise and storyline changes wise there have been some adaptations that were less “lol lets change it” and more to connect better with today’s audience and cultural paradigm. Like Annabeth being blonde because of the stereotype of “the dumb blonde” that was so prevalent in the era the books were released versus her being Black showcasing the extreme undermining Black women go through instead, or Luke being less 00s/10s boyband boy looking and more tiktok softboy looking now, but also Sally being less 100% perfect and more active in the story and upbringing of Percy as both a hero and a demigod and Luke being less cool and detached and more… Sweet? Emotional?
- I did feel pretty meh about a few changes: Zeus immediately accepting that Kronos is scheming and is a threat (Ik they couldn’t know if they’ll get that far but it cuts the stakes of the third book by a lot if there’s no pressing time limit to get Artemis back to Olympus to convince the Gods into action if they’ve been Doing Stuff for two years now, and even the second book loses a little in regards to the behind-the-scenes political climate that leas to it being what it was). Luke going to every length not to kill Percy is such a 180° from the books it was a little jarring and I feel it cuts out how much of a Menace he was and how bitter/jealous he was of Percy. Like we could have seen their bonding and even Luke trying to recruit him but I’d still have liked to see the scorpion scene so the betrayal and anger and wariness Percy feels is that much deeper and bitter and personal like in the books.
- I’m of two minds about the entire Gabe arch. Like on one hand I do understand toning him down (including his demise) for the public’s intended audience, I even think it kinda goes along the adapting to new times by showing that the useless, insensitive, disrespectful aspect of a bad husband is harmful just as the “darker”, more explicitly abusive/exploitative and mean drunk book version, but on the other I feel like he had such an impact on Percy in the books (he’s literally the Oracle’s “mirage” for his prophecy, he thinks of his smell in tartarus), and I really had loved the line “you’ll fail to save what matters most in the end” coming true because Sally saves herself - although the post I’ve seen about his fate showcasing how his lack of respect was his doom did make me appreciate it a little more.
- The only castings (or maybe it was the directing and styling of them more so) that I can’t really get behind are Hades and Hephaestus. Hades felt like they were going for the Disney’s Hercules comedic relief one in a slightly toned down costume. None of the gravitas and intimidation, he didn’t feel like a god at any point. And Hephaestus was just… So different. He’s supposed to be a deeply secluded, antisocial, gruffy mechanic who’s self sequestered by his inventions and forges. The show version looked like an eccentric professor more than anything imo. Which I feel could be one modern retelling of Hephaestus in another series, but isn’t the one we had and, imo, doesn’t go as well with the rest of the vibe. Which is a shame bc I do feel like Timothy could have been used in a way that would work fantastically for those vibes.
- Lin Manuel Miranda’s, acting actually shocked me. I never really had a Hamilton phase but I am on tumblr so I was expecting something cringe and honestly, I thought it was good (and to bring it back to Hades: Hermes in sweats and a hoodie actually gave me the feeling of “this is merely a cover to a deep well of power” than Hades in his suit and dark colors ever did)
- Meanwhile, perfect Ares casting. Yes this man is beefing with (and losing to) 12yos but he’s also an ancient force that revels in bloodshed and carnage.
- Annabeth from the show encapsulates the character so well while also bringing her own notes to it. Like as time went on back in my peak pjo days I felt she got “Hermionified” by the fandom too much? And I lost sight of how fond I was of her but the show (and having reread the books) really rekindled that and made me remember why she is a force to be reckoned with and also someone that must be protected at all costs. I cannot express enough how much my fondness was reignited.
- Like I feel this could be a whole post but basically I feel the books showcase the “ideal” characteristics the gods and their kids could have versus how they wind up twisted into something else (Percy’s sea-like indomitable spirit vs several of his brethren’s ruthlessness and disregard for what’s good) and Annabeth feels like, beyond amassing knowledge for it’s sake… She wants to actually Learn, and in the show maybe even to a deeper degree than in the books and it is endearing and very enthralling.
- On that note, Leah, Walker… This is supposed to be a SLOWburn goddamit. Like in the books you can see where it’s headed but in the show they have such silly crushes I can barelyy stand it. My children.
- Speaking of Walker that kid IS Percy like you cannot convince me otherwise. Disney farmed him for this role.
- I actually really loved Poseidon having a british accent? Idk, something about england and nautical exploration and it feeling older and more… Powerful? Like the ocean
- And Zeus had all the “I’m the god amongst kings and king amongst gods” that I’d have expected from him. He was crackling with power and that was beautiful to see. What a tragic loss.
- Grover is my precious child (although I do wish we had gotten the silly, goat like details of him like eating cans and making the bleating noises). And since the last book I finished rereading was the Battle of the Labyrinth (where I cried like a baby at Pan’s death) watching this sweetheart getting all excited with his literal flower searches license? Made me wanna weep.
- Overall most of my criticisms that came to mind besides the alterations I cited came from being hushed because of too few eps and those being too short. Really really hope the next season (fingers crossed) we’ll get like, 15+ eps (and/or at least longer eps) so we can really sink into the meat and potatoes of it all.

okay. so voltron’s second season (”seasons” 3-6) were. well.
i have to say that i sort of vastly preferred the first production block. i definitely think the show was more in its element with the episodic “defeat zarcon” stuff than with... to be honest, i have no idea what’s happening.
i mean it started off pretty good. could have gone in a lot of directions. i was interested in the idea of lotor, whose ideology seemed to be a very good contrast to zarcon’s but still seemed to be a good villain. a darker side to the alteans, the fact that the lions can bond to multiple paladins, etc etc etc.
like idk, i know there are people that would take issue with it but it would have been kinda cool if various characters could bond to the different lions sometimes, and the relationship with each one could reveal something about the character. like maybe it would have been a contrast to zarcon, who was hyperfixated on the black lion and thought that because it was the leader, it was the Important One or whatever.
anyways this is called “inflammatoryfandomblog” and it’s time for the griping.
-> the plot is about quintessence, which... the galra empire depends on for some reason, even though it was really the druids we’ve seen use it before, and they were destroying whole planets for the stuff and using it to power zarcon’s little ego “i’m going to get the lions trip.” it’s kind of unclear what else uses it. and i think that’s like my main issue with this season/production block? aside from the S1-like episodes, it feels very muddled and hard to really get into.
i just. am trying to make sense of lotor’s plan. or haggar’s plan. or what they each wanted. or what even what quintessence does. quintessence seems to be like, a... theme-thing... for being too entrenched in the past and what you’ve lost, and so being poisoned by it is losing sight of the present by trying to recreate it. at least that’s what makes the most sense. it’s not, uh, subtle--but it’s not used well enough to relieve it of the Magical Bullshit feeling.
(this is something she-ra has over voltron; whatever plot magic BS happens is generally woven in better, thematically, with adora and glimmer and catra--but this just might be because there’s a lot less characters and she-ra very early on drops the pretense of being political in any way; it’s the type of series that’s very transparent with that--it says “yeah lmao our world doesn’t matter this is basically a basic family story with princess/scifantasy icing”, while voltron is very different in this regard, and so this approach does it no favors, because how it developed its world was a very good selling point for me in the first production block)
like “oh we just offer them more quintessence and they’ll listen to me” seems like a really bad justification for......... anything......... and idk if they even needed that plotline, i feel like lotor wanting to create an “inclusive/fair empire” is a pretty interesting oxymoron without the weird altean magic stuff. that haggar also unlocked. somehow. i wasn’t very invested in it i suppose; it failed to sort of convince me at any point of being true to the setting, which was a real strength of the first season.
-> i remember being miffed at the lack of shiro/lotor interactions (i mean, the lack of interactions sort of gave it away that this shiro was not worth investing into, especially since it was so telegraphed that druidlady was controlling him, but i was annoyed at the time) because i dunno, real!shiro and lotor could have built up an understanding re: being forced by zarcon to do bad stuff. generally the shiro clone plot is very meh, i feel it would have been better if a) the “real” shiro was actually taken to be some sort of trojan or he’s dead and the clone has to reckon with what it means and be an actual character or b) shiro’s spirit guided them and he was a mentor figure the entire way through, only getting back into a body at some point or another.
generally the entire clone plotline was just kind of worse than most possible alternatives to it, including having both shiros be alive and kicking. as it is now shiro is basically the same as the one from the first production block and can’t have changed.
-> for a second, since most of my predictions panned out in some way, that shiro *was* actually going to be zarcon all along. that would have been wild. similarly a very funny alternate universe is one where the gang splits the comet, gives half of it to the evil alteans and half of it to the galra and simply lets them fight.
-> i liked that the characters went off and had lives/missions outside of voltron (or at least, pidge/keith) and had a few episodes dedicated to those. those, aside from the early “season 3″ episodes and the fun one-shot ones were very enjoyable breaks from the mostly incoherent main plot. i had fun watching them instead of being like “hmm. so this is a Thing now” in the Main Story
i really feel that ultra-dramatic storytelling is not these writers’ strong suit. which, fair, i mean, i’m not a writer, but i don’t think it’s a stretch to say that they’re a lot better with episodes with some implications as opposed to long, serialized, dramatic structures as a group. i think it might just be a matter of experience; most cartoons until the 2010s were very episodic, and longer stories just have more production/meddling complications which are non-trivial, whereas with episodes, if something doesn’t work... you can just dump it. but episode-episodes also don’t play well with streaming. just kind of an unfortunate media-landscape conundrum there.
(note that japanese animation for example, while it’s very serialized, most of the time has the benefit of having source material already laid out for it. really the equivalent of something like that are like, comic book shows i guess.)
-> animation is really stellar and action is very good. studio mir is great. they always stick the landing.
-> i guess i like that they tried to do something with the idea of “the evil emperor is dead/gone, now what?” which is kind of a difficult plot to write honestly, especially when the main cast are transformer-power-rangers, it’s not obvious how to make them relevant enough to have the focus on them. (and in classic fashion, i don’t really like making suggestions.)
-> lance is going to get with allura nooooooo. i was really invested in the idea that he defects because of a hot girl. instead he just gets jealous of lotor. the sad thing is i really think they could have been at least good friends (lance/allura). the scene where allura replicates trying to flirt with the blue lion is really funny, and lance bringing out everyone’s goofballness would have been a good variant on his general archetype. instead lance is mostly Annoying and gets a few disconnected Scenes. i can’t even really think of a good lance episode this season.
-> pidge baby though. she’s obviously flawed (esp with the prisoner exchange stuff like wth lady) and like. the main plot is dead to me at this point. but i really liked her side episodes. same with keith etc etc.
-> predictions for next season (if i get around to watching it):
-> 1. sendak (zendak?) invades earth. “YOU EARTHLINGS DEFEATED ME LIKE A CHUMP... LOOK WHO’S THE CHUMP NOW???” -> 2. allura and coran start a cow extermination policy -> 3. everyone gets sent to a mental institution and they have to break out -> 4. haggar does some quintessence bullshit and tries to revive lotor or whatever. zombie lotor is horribly mangled and rips a hole through reality again! -> 5. shiro binge-watches all the series he’s missed in the time he’s been dead. he likes kdramas or wuxia. not anime though. -> 6. ?????? lance becomes embroiled in cuban politics. just randomly. (he’s the one who likes anime.)

Digimon Tamers: Battle of Adventurers
Eh...gotta be honest, I found this pretty underwhelming. It had its moments, don't get me wrong, but the plot felt pretty generic and the ending was rushed. Still had fun, but the emotional investment was lacking.
Notes:
Reddit told me to watch this after episode 18, so I got the timing a little off, but I felt like it'd be good to watch prior to the digiworld episodes. The only timeline wonkiness is that this takes place before Culumon's kidnapping, which I've already seen, but that's fine.
In another moment of ~fate~ the movie begins with Guilmon dying of heat (not literally lol) and it was "feels like 101" where I am today so...can relate.
Tumblr media
I was a pretty sheltered kid, so IDK how I would react to my parents making me travel by myself at 10...not that I'm against that, I just know 10 year old me woulda been a big crybaby about it.
Kinda weird that they gave us 2 title screens for this, one of which was just ripped from the TV show. The whole vibe was kind of a mixed bag in this, sometimes the animation felt pretty much the same quality as the show and sometimes it felt like they were stepping it up, not super consistent.
"Battle of Adventurers" is a pretty uninspired title. I feel like they could have either put something about Okinawa or the v-pet virus in the title instead so it would stand out a bit more...
Speaking of the V-Pet, I thought it was super charming with its crappy CGI lol. I totally would have fell for it in 2001. Kinda hard to believe that literally everyone downloaded it though (doctors, pilots, etc.) Or was it more like that one U2 album that was automatically distributed to everyone?
Guilmon begging to get out of the suitcase was stressful! How did he not suffocate? D: (do digimon even need to breathe?)
They really did the movie-only character (Minami) dirty this time. She had to be re-traumatized about her dead dog so many times! Just felt cruel...
All of the Okinawa cultural stuff was fun, especially the Okinawa-inspired digimon. If Digimon Go was a thing, you know they'd be region specific.
When Ruki's mom was like "oh, it's so comfortable flying on the plane!" I was like "okay, rich." That's the only explanation because flying economy is always a bad time.
Although a lot of the character animation was kinda meh, the battle animation is where this movie really shined. It was like little pockets of hype and there was a really good variety of enemy digimon. I was especially excited to see Anomalocarimon cuz it's been a minute and there was a lot of attention to detail with his bit.
Siesamon's design was really pretty, but I don't like his resting angry face. I wish they would have made his face more emotive because it kind of diminished some emotional moments...
There was one scene where it showed some buildings blowing up (because of the virus) and one of them suspiciously looked like a power plant...hopefully I'm wrong cuz oof...
Loved Mephismon's design, but with Gulfmon they did that thing that they did with VenomVamdemon where he has a second face by his crotch area...don't like that (although he is a centaur, so not technically his crotch)
There were some legit scary moments in this! The car crash scene was pretty violent and Minami screaming as she ran from the lasers also felt pretty intense for a kid's movie. (I haven't peeked at the dub yet, wondering if anything was cut)
I thought the final battle was weak as heck. Phase 1 took like 2 seconds and then phase 2 just felt kinda arbitrary like we were going through the motions. We did get a new attack though (trinity something or other). It felt kind of weird for them to just show that without any acknowledgement, but oh well. I'm sure it'll come back at some point. I was a little disappointed tbh because I thought they were doing some sort of 3-way jogress fusion
The shot with 3D MegaloGrowmon and 2D Rapidmon and Taomon was a glorious 2000s moment
Tumblr media
IDK why but it gave me Power Rangers vibes
Yeah so this felt pretty disposable, they tried to kind of tie things to Digimon Adventure with Omegamon and Apocalymon, but the connection was pretty vague and forced. I rather Tamers just be separate without the callbacks
While I'm a big fan of short runtimes, I do wonder if this one could have benefitted from being a little longer, just to let things breath more

Hey I loved your Marko headcannons 🖤 Do you have some nsfw headcannons about tall dark and handsome Dwayne?
(Bursts through the door like the Kool-Aid man) OH DO I EVER!!! Listen I love Paul and Marko and David, they are my blorbos, my boyfriends, but DWAYNE. I would PROPOSE to him. Husband material.
TLB Dwayne NSFW Headcanons
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay, let's get the basics out of the way. Sex is gonna be rough, occasionally aggressive, and potentially deadly but hey?? If you wanna fuck a vampire that comes with the territory
Out of all the boys, he and David are probably the hardest to bed TBH
Where as Paul will throw himself at anybody, Dwayne kind of looks down his nose at a lot of humans. There are not a lot of people up to his 'standards' and he's pretty jaded about mortals in general
Because "they all die in the end, anyway."
But if you catch his interest? Oh no baby I am so sorry you're gonna need a wheelchair by the time he's done with you
Insanely intense. Ridiculous amount of patience, fucking phenomenal self-control (sexually, hunting is a whole other deal), the stamina of a goddamn greek god (and the abs of one lmaooo)
Breeder. Breeding kink for days especially if you're a woman. This man will fill you and keep you as full of his cum as you'll let him
Extends to cockwarming. He adores it. Loves feeling you squirming on his cock, devolving into a begging mess asking him to just move
All about the timeline: Dwayne doesn't have a lot of sex but when he does, it's an all-night event. It's a whole thing. Bring water.
He's very big and very strong and he will use it. Enjoys pinning/bending/folding his partners. Wall sex is a fave. Expect to be held up by nothing but his arm strength at some point.
Definitely a dom. I usually think most men are a mix of dom and sub but not this guy. The most submissive he'll get is power-bottoming and letting you ride him cowgirl-style, but even then he's got a handful of your hair in his grip and he's purring
Speaking of noises, not super vocal. Like Marko, he's more animal than man in the sack. Growls, purrs, snarls, hums.
Has a daddy kink because of the breeding kink
He's meh about exhibitionism and public sex. I mean, he WILL fuck you in public, but he'll fuck you anywhere because he does not give a shit. For him sex is more about what he's doing to you, not the environment.
Enjoys emotional sex: angry sex and makeup sex especially
I have great/terrible news. Dwayne's nickname is "horsecock" because he's hung like a stallion. Like that thing is a monster. If you're under 5 feet tall you'll die
The amount of prepwork needed??? For that beast??? Insane. Real talk sometimes he'll have to fist-fuck his partners to get them ready
Master of eyesex. He'll just lean back against a wall far away, and pin you with a stare so intense you're sweating and blushing
BIG fan of multiple orgasms. He'll dedicate entire hours to it, just to see how many he can wring out of someone. His record is eleven.
While Paul is Laddie's best friend, Dwayne does most of the actual parenting: so if Laddie needs literally anything, sorry, sex is getting rescheduled
Can fluster people really easily. He's just big and dark and silent, but his touch will legit set you on fire. Always seems to know exactly where to touch someone
Grazing fingers behind your neck, dragging knuckles up the inside of your thigh on the boardwalk, etc. You are HELPLESS you are WHIPPED for him in 10 seconds
He and Paul actually do a lot of honeypotting for the gang
Not a big fan of oral. Prefers penetrative sex and it absolutely shows: his thrust/hip snap technique is 👌. Can find a G-spot like a goddamn metal detector
Favorite thing is turning his partner into blabbering, drooling, exhausted putty in his hands. A different sort of sadist than Marko. He wants it to feel so good it hurts and you're crying for mercy
Loves partners begging. LOVES it.
Dwayne is an ass man. I will not elaborate
Out of all the boys, the line between hunting and fucking is the most clear for him. You always run the risk of dying, bedding a vampire, but you're safest with him
David likes to get rough in the bedroom and so does Dwayne, but in different ways. David likes to slap, and Dwayne likes to crush. Likes a nice hand on your throat, or putting all his weight on you as he fucks down into you, watching you struggle to breathe under the force
He's one of the strongest vampires, so you will be bruised. Anywhere he grabs you, bruised. Ass? bruised. Neck? Bruised. Cervix? Sorry bestie that's bruised too. Buy some ice packs.
TL:DR a very hard man to bag, and if you do, expect to get folded like a greeting card and have your organs rearranged for three straight hours until you're stuffed like an eclair. If, somehow, you manage to still walk afterwards, don't ask for a phone number. He doesn't want you to contact him again: not unless he's fallen in love with you. And that hasn't happened in three hundred years.

Is there a ship that you used to ship, but don’t anymore?
what’s your favorite canon moment of Bering & Wells?
what kind of dates do you think Bering & Wells would go on?
Oh wow, thank you for asking! (questions from over here)
I've been trying to think of a ship I used to ship but don't anymore, all through breakfast, and I can't think of any? I don't have many ships to begin with, that's probably why 😅 Like, it's not that I watch *any* show with shipper's eyes, only waiting to encounter two (or more) people that I can ship with each other. It's more that sometimes when I witness two people interact, their dynamic feels compelling in a romantic way, and then I ship them. Bering and Wells absolutely falls into that category; they might be a tiny fandom, but they're a behemoth in my mind: I do not ship *anyone* the way I do them. Much more often than that it's "I can see why others ship them" though - that's the Leverage Thiefsome, or J7, for example. They're fun little ships, and people make compelling arguments in fic form or gif form or manips or fan art and I enjoy them and reblog them, but I'm nowhere near as invested in them as I am Bering and Wells. As for ships I personally can't see, but know others are into, more power to them, I can see they're having fun with them and that's good for them!
I'm gonna put the rest under a readmore because it's gonna get long!
Favorite Bering and Wells canon moment
Whichever I watched last? 😅 I mean they don't have all *that* many, more's the pity, and the ones that they do have are (almost) all so well-crafted both in terms of the writing and in terms of Jo and Jaime's acting! I can tell you which one I *don't* like the writing of, and that's the Bookstore Hologram moment. Helena's monologue is... almost nonsensical? Like, I'm not dissing the acting; Jo and Jaime both act the *hell* out of it, but the lines just don't make sense to me. Apart from the "wish I'd thought of that" morsel; *that* one is gold, the rest is meh.
But the other moments between them? Those meaningful gazes in Helena's old home? The grappler scene, the "keep an open mind" scene, the graveyard scene, the- Oh, I just love all of them. So good.
Bering and Wells dates
I think they might have a number of dates that don't really work out, actually? Like, Helena might want to make a grand romantic gesture because she still has a bad conscience about Nate and Giselle and wants to convince Myka that she's here to stay, by showering her with flowers and renting a limousine and I don't know, stuff like that, you know? And Myka is *mortified* (who wouldn't), because one, she doesn't like people making such a fuss over her and two this is UNIVILLE population eight hundred odd, EVERYONE will know and talk about this for the next fifty years. Meanwhile *she* takes Helena to her favorite museum, but that doesn't click for Helena who is not into museums at all (she wants to get her hands on stuff (and not just on Myka, stuff in general), and museums are stiff and boring).
So they both have a botched first attempt at taking the other on a date, just like they had a botched first attempt at a relationship? 😂 But they get better at it. It takes Helena much longer to get off her "I treated you so badly" cross than it takes Myka to figure out a date situation that piques Helena's interest, though. Helena learns that the best way to Myka's heart is to really see what Myka is trying to show her when she takes her to places that mean something to her, like museums, or an ice skating rink. That even if the subject matter isn't interesting to her (Helena), it is something that is dear to Myka, and it means a lot that Myka is showing it to her. And Myka learns that Helena wants to actively engage with whatever they're doing/wherever they are, so when she does take her to a museum again, it's a personal guided tour that has hands-on exhibits and a guide who has personal experience with the subject matter. Say, a dinosaur dig site museum where the visitors can do some digging of their own, something like that.
Oh that was such fun to think about, thank you, Sam!!

I finished book 12! I enjoyed this book a lot. It’s probably blasphemy to say because Robert Jordan obviously created the incredible world we spend so much time in in this series, but I think I prefer Sanderson’s writing. I at least appreciated the toning down of some of the stuff that bothered me the most, like the women always wanting to look sexy for men and the description of every woman’s breasts in every outfit. (I’m honestly not sure we heard the word “bosom” even once this book!) Also, given that I care the most about the Aes Sedai and Egwene and Siuan, obviously this would be a book I would enjoy :)
We also finally got some of the human stakes for the last battle that I’ve been longing for in Rand thinking about why he needs to save the world and live at the end of the book. But I think his conclusion that the reason to live and make sure the wheel keeps turning is “love” would be *so much more powerful* if I had literally any idea *why* Rand loves any of the people he does in these books. What does he love about them other than their love of him?? I also continue to think the books would have been stronger if this theme had been present throughout the books (presumably through other characters because Rand understandably has to go through his own journey to get there), and not shown up at the end of book 12.
Speaking of Rand, I’m realizing part of why his core arc is sort of “meh” for me is that so much of who Rand is and becomes is tied to his abuse in the box. And like, while I definitely don’t condone the torture and beating part of that experience and I find Rand’s PTSD arc a compelling one in terms of what it means for the characters around him who care for him, I actually was pretty okay with Rand initially getting put in the box because I enjoyed seeing him finally be bested after being an asshole towards literally everyone for so many books (and especially by Aes Sedai after he had been so intent to put them in *their* place, often for just being in his presence the early books).
Also the chapter this book focused on the Ajah heads scheming says that Elaida *deserves to be a Seanchan slave* because of her domineering actions. Yet Rand being put in a box for his own domineering behavior is portrayed as understandably horrifying and explanatory of his further actions including almost killing his father with balefire?! I continue to think that keeping Rand kinder and more human for longer in the earlier books would have made his whole arc dramatically more compelling for me. Rand spent the early books yelling “I won’t be controlled!!” while bossing people around and never facing a consequence, and that decidedly didn’t resonate on a vulnerable and human level for me. Which means that I don’t feel very emotionally invested in his much more compelling struggles starting with the box and continuing from there. I’m *very* excited for how the show handles all of this, because I generally think the show has made these characters so much more human and I think I will feel Rand’s struggle and descent much more viscerally in the adaptation. I *want* to care for and worry about him so I feel emotional stakes in his chapters, but unlike the characters in the books I didn’t grow up with him and am not forced by fate to be in love with him for unexplained reasons, so the fact he was never a particularly sympathetic character makes me struggle to care about him.
Speaking of the show, I had accidentally spoiled myself that Verin was black Ajah and had no idea I’d have to wait THIS LONG to get to it in the books. But I didn’t know any of the context so I still got some sort of reveal, which was fun. And I’m happy I can still root for her on the show!
I’m also so excited that Moiraine comes back next book!!! Even if it’s only at the end and even if it does mean soo much Moiraine and Thom 😭

Ok I think I like the live action 😭 i was so ready to hate it but I honestly am having a good time relearning the characters in a different way!
They connect the crew together faster but they have more moments that really show why zoro and nami started to like Luffy which is nice not have to go through 50 episodes just to get a few plot points out of the way.
Koby!! My boy!! I was SO READY to diss on his character because in all honesty his character was whiny at the beginning (even in the anime too). BUT them introducing Garp early and allowing Garp to become a psueo parent to him is honestly so fucking cute 😭. They have a genuinely interesting relationship and its part of my favorite moments in the show 😭 Also the actor is doing a great job showing us how Koby grows more confident and sure of himself and its amazing!
Zoro i couldnt help but keep loving and Nami is so good! The actress that plays Nami is amazing!
I’m only on ep. 4 but a couple of gripes:
1. It a little 🤪 cringey. But in all honestly its kinda a given for a live action for an anime, some of the elements are going to come through but its just a little shocking to see live actors actually act out the fighting moves yell since we r so used to anime characters in a anime environment.
2. The characters that where HUGE in the anime are like meh. Not saying they werent great characters but its still disappointing to look at Arlong when he looks so normal size. A core element of what makes one piece so memberable is watching this tiny underdog go up against the biggest and the baddest and having the strength within to come on top all because of his determination and drive. Its just underwhelming some of the fights that are supposed to be so epic: biggest and baddest vs underdog rubberman! Who will win! I get that they probably tried their best with what they had but im allowed to complain a little i think.
3. There are MANY moments within the anime that was SO IMPORTANT! And it just gets… left out. Ok! I’m not saying that it has to be another series that is 1000 episodes long but in live action form but sometimes a scene is so powerful and to leave it out is not my cup of tea. For example im fine that they changed zoro eating the dirty rice balls in a different context. It worked in showing us that zoro is a good guy! But leaving out how Luffy got Koby in with the marines and how zoro, badly injured, tried to save luffy by carrying his cage showing us how loyal of a person zoro is bla blah blah. I think people will understand what im talking about if you watch/read the original source material.
The show is great to watch so far and brings a new spin on the characters without making them unrecognizable (cough* velma *cough). The actors are fantastic and the costumes are SO good. I’m loving them actually change clothes according to the new chapter they are on, i think they are inspired by the cover page art, its nicely paced and they do give a good representation of the anime/manga. And im glad im not hating it yet.

X-Men 97 Episodes 1 and 2 Review
Okay! My thoughts on the new X-Men Animated series on Disney+
I'm going full on spoiler-y, so I'll put it under a cut
Okay - so over all tone/atmosphere/nostalgia stuff...
I think they did a really good job recapturing the feel of the original animated show. I'm not sure I love the throw back to the messier animation style, but it works. It's also more adult, too -- there's more explicit violence, and the adult themes are a little more present. I'm sure it was intentional because I think this is made, less for actual kids, and more for people who grew up with the original show who are now adults.
I think the second episode was stronger than the first. The first felt a lot like, not even a where are they now, but a - let's throw back to sentinels and the issues at hand. And. Meh. I've never been a fan of the sentinels. I did like the second episode kind of expanding and exploring the world more. I think it set the stage, more, for the show that they want to do....
The Introduction of Sunspot: I've never been a huge fan of the New Mutants (I'm sorry!) but his incorporation of being a young mutant new to this world worked really well. I kind of loved his attitude and his energy did exactly what it needed to!
Jubilee: Oh, she was so annoying in the original -- so it was nice to see she wasn't in this. She works for me, and I'm curious as to what they do with her - as she's the only one who didn't really get a trajectory spelled out for them.
(Also as an aside - there are new voice actors and I think they all do a really great job.)
Beast: I don't think he got much to do, either, but he was his delightful self. I really hope he continues to add a great flavor to the show.
Bishop: It's nice that he's now included -- but I wish they would have done more with him!
Morph: Was really there for all the cameos and sometimes comic relief.
It makes me super curious as to who else will show up in this show. I hope they don't try to cram everyone into this first season...
Which reminds me.... Professor X is still in the opening credits. But he died in the previous series. So.... ??
Wolverine: I'm so grateful that he wasn't front and center. I get so tired of Wolverine-centric things, and they included him very much as a team member. I still kind of eye roll the lusting after Jean thing, but one of my favorite moments is him figuring out that Jean is in labor.
Cyclops: Oh ole Cyke with all of his demons. But they made him so much more interesting than in the original series where he was so dull and dry. And they did some interesting things with this powers, so I'm curious as to where they go with this...
Jean: Look, if you guys know the original show, you know how annoying Jean Grey was. It took me really reading the comics to have an appreciation for her, because she was by far my least favorite part of the show. She just... was so useless most of the time. And I was grateful that they've made her less so here but....
The twist: OMG THAT'S ANOTHER JEAN GREY AT THE DOOR WHAT??? Look, guys, I was surprised when they had her give birth so early, but they're doing the whole Cyclops/Jean/Madilyn Pryor/baby Nathan mess and I am so here for it. I have my popcorn ready because it's such a disaster and yes, please give me all the clone drama. Because I find it hilarious. And I have no personal care about how it works out....
Storm: My girl! MY GIRL! I love Storm so much, and she really shines in this. She is so. good. And then she loses her powers, and they're doing what the original show did -- referencing the comics in a big way. There's a whole arc about Storm losing her powers (though that was during the 80s) but it was so good for her character development. I'm super curious if they're going to let Storm go through that same journey as in the comics.
And as an aside - I kind of wonder if they're going to let each of the characters (or group of characters) have their own focus? That is how the old show worked. Hmmmm....
Gambit: Is going through his 90s slutty fashion phase and I love that for him.
(More on him in a minute.)
Magneto: *side-eyes* Okay. ... Okay. They did the whole Trail of Magneto thing, and I think where they're going is interesting. it works. But there's going to be a flip at some point. I mean, y'all know that is coming.
I just... whatever. You know what I'm going to say, I will get there...
Rogue: My dear love Rogue.
I didn't love her delivering the baby -- that's not how... oh whatever. Her powers are often nebulous.
That's not what you want to hear me talk about anyway.
Okay, guys, okay.... here's my thing. I get it. I get it i get it i get it. But of all the things they've decided to resurrect from the comics -- the love triangle from hell -- the very reason I stopped comics for half a decade, i just... okay.
So. Yes. Rogue and Magneto had a fling in the comics. Once very briefly before Gambit was even created. And one very tedious time later when I decided I didn't have to read such crap and stopped reading comics all together until Rogue dumped his ass and came back to the X-Men (it's... a very long story).
I get the why here -- Rogue's story has always been her powers and controlling them and longing to touch, etc, etc. It's one of the reasons I liked her so much originally. There was a tragedy there.
I do think it's kind of weird that they retconned a previous relationship when there wasn't one in XMen TAS. But it is comics accurate. And there's a full story about Rogue figuring her shit out. I get what they're setting up here. (I mean -- unless they throw us a complete curveball and go the Age of Apocalypse time line where Magneto and Rogue are married -- but I don't think they will? If they did, I probably would let this go because I couldn't with this.)
I don't love it. I've made my peace with the fact that it is a thing that happened in the comics. And it helps that Rogue and Gambit have been happily married for the past six years (and that's a long time in comic years) and have put all of this past stuff behind them.
If the story plays out the way I'm sure it will, then I'll ultimately be fine with it. I did like the smaller moments we did get between Rogue and Gambit. There's definitely a connection there. And they're definitely pulling the whole love triangle thing with Gambit seeing stuff at the end of episode 2.
I just... don't want him to be a sad sack through the rest of the series. And I don't want Rogue's entire story to be about her relationship with two men. All of these characters deserve better than this.
But -- overall, I did like the show. I'm curious to see what they do with it. And just hope they don't try to cram too much into it - because they do have a ton of characters and a lot to service.
What did you guys think??
I may have to rethink our friendship if any of y'all are rooting for Rogue and Magneto. But <3 <3 anyway.

rings of power, farscape and i can't think of anything else so mandalorian for the TV show ask game?? 🫶🫶
GREAT CHOICES <3
rings of power
Favourite character: u know as a known villainfucker i am contractually obliged to say Adar but close seconds are Miriel, Elrond, Elendil, Valandil, and Disa and Durin. I HAVE A LOT OF FAVORITES OKAY THIS IS A LARGE ENSEMBLE CAST.
Funniest character: Disa has some of the greatest comedic beats in the show but i think Elendil's dad humor is underrated as well lmao
Best-looking character: Adar, Miriel, Elendil. you canNOT make me choose here i have written extensively about how beautiful they are and i will cONTINUE to write about it
3 favourite ships: obviously miriel/elendil, but the cracky miriel/elendil/valandil ship ~accidentally~ turned into a real ship, and i wasn't convinced about adar/arondir until i wrote it for an exchange and they won my heart (also intrigued by adar/arondir/bronwyn, you KNOW i love an ot3!) honorable mention: isildur/valandil.
Least favourite character: i've said it before and i'll say it again: modern AU kemen is a college republican. unforgivable.
Least favourite ship: brandishes the sign of the cross at the h*ladriels (exception for like, the cool h*ladriels who ship them in a way that doesn't strike me as incredibly sexist...........)
Reason why I watch it: diehard tolkien fan, loves the 2nd age, was not to be deterred by the fact plenty of people hated it (funny story... i actually looked in my saved photos earlier and realized in like 2020-21 i had actually publicly said "fuck the lotr show!" and then. screenshotted it. because of the nudity/sex scene rumor. hindsight is 20/20 i guess, sorry rop, i'm better now.)
Why I started watching it: honestly pure curiosity about if the show would be good or not!!! and because i could not skip a LOTR show, tbh. (i really thought elrond and gil-galad were not hot at first but their charisma & acting won me over! look at me now!)
farscape... oh you've really awakened the sleeping dragon here i'm gonna readmore this for your own sanity !!
Favourite character: crais & aeryn, which really says a lot about how much the "child soldiers fighting to be their own self" works for me as a character arc. (FUNDIE/EXVANGELICAL METAPHOR??? note: talk about this with my therapist later.) they are both so very sexy and tortured and carry big guns. very hot. very cool. *drooling a little bit thinking about aeryn and crais* what was i talking about..... ummmmm yeah okay-- (wait honorable mention to Pilot, who is LOVELY and my FRIEND. also the fact that crais's actor also voices Pilot has given me a weird hard-on for Pilot as well. sorry. alienfucker present.)
Funniest character: john crichton is actually so fucking funny i hope we all appreciate his comedic chops--same for harvey/scorpy, the comedy in some of those mind scenes is EXCELLENT
Best-looking character: crais & aeryn. im so fucking sorry i think they're both incredibly hot and the leather and scowling and "i could kill you in 12 different ways" energy really does it for me. when crichton is in his long leather coat outfit being edgy, he also is included in this category. zhaan is also too beautiful to look at. this is a very beautiful cast!!!!!
3 favourite ships: crais/aeryn/crichton is... basically the show for me. i know it requires a certain deluded perspective to watch the show through that framework but also it completely makes sense if you have the 3rd eye to see how homoerotic the crais/crichton fights are. they're constantly fighting over their own big feelings and over aeryn and it's just like okay, fuck it out already! i do like zhaan/stark a lot as well--super compelling and very sad but beautiful!!! i think crichton/scorpius is really fun in a fucked up traumatizing psychosexual way, but i also think they'd never actually fuck, scorpy just tortures john and that's as close to sex as they'll get. (@julians-meh-house back me up on this)
Least favourite character: rygel. i know what purpose he serves thematically and in the ensemble cast—and don't get me wrong, it SLAPS that a muppet is like, cursing and shitting and farting and pissing onscreen, committing proper war crimes/acts of immorality—puppets is definitely is the best way to do sci-fi aliens tbh—but he has done so many unforgivable things to my favorites! i hate him a lot, but in the "wow he's a well-written character" kind of hate.
Least favourite ship: honestly most things with chiana give me the heebie jeebies because she's canonically Very Young (teenager/young adult?) and d'argo is a whole-ass 40 year old man. so. i understand why farscape does it, i understand that the show is depicting chiana as someone who's hypersexual because of trauma, i know the chiana/d'argo relationship is FAR from healthy to start with. i just personally want chiana to have some healthy relationships with people her age lol.
Reason why I watch it: it is the best show in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but seriously... my major problem with contemporary sci-fi is that it is too clean and shiny and new and sharp and savvy and militarized. and what i really want from sci-fi is the dirty underside of the cosmos. aliens being weird and freaky and kinky and inhuman and gross and ALIEN. (star wars tries to show the grimier side of things but only succeeds in like, rare circumstances.) farscape is so messy and good and it's also from the era of TV where seasons were 20+ episodes long. so much better.
Why I started watching it: @yamelcakes farscape propaganda on the dash worked on me. i am forever grateful. <3
the mandalorian
Favourite character: axe woves and din djarin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! boba fett and fennec shand as well but it feels like an insult to call them characters from the mandalorian when they had their own show lmao.
Funniest character: din is surprisingly funny, but of course it's baby yoda/grogu, he's soooo cute and evil and a menace and i love him! my baby!
Best-looking character: din, axe, koska, fennec! yeah im bisexual why do you ask. honorable mention: i didn't love her episodes but Elia Kane (Katy O'Brian) can step on me anytime
3 favourite ships: call me crazy but i LOVED din/omera back in season 1...... big fan of multishipping din, i've loved interpretations of him with pretty much everyone (omera, cara, boba, cobb, luke, bo, fennec, etc.) i've gotta say axe/bo-katan divorce arc is my thing for real, and i really like axe/bo/koska ot3! honorable mention: axe/paz :')
Least favourite character: i'm wracking my brain and i'm not sure i have one. moff gideon is so fucking sexy and cool i can't hate him even if he's super duper evil. well, maybe greef karga, he tends to annoy me when he's onscreen because i think carl weathers is hamming it up too much and the tone isn't quite right for the show. and cara dune i liked as a character but the acting was always bad!
Least favourite ship: none, i'm a happy multishipper! the antis in this fandom are INSANE though jkdfslkjfdsjlkfds do NOT get into a mandalorian ship discussion with anyone, they WILL eat you alive
Reason why I watch it: unfortunately i am a star war fan in the year of our lord 2023. s3 was... not... good, but i'm so attached to s1-2 din and grogu i couldn't stop. also i love axe woves.
Why I started watching it: i didn't watch it when it first came out--took a few more months and then i binged s1 and live-blogged the whole thing to my close friends' group chat and i was so sold on it afterwards! din and grogu are so special to meeeee
