this is mostly just silly and i’m not smart enough to write any think pieces on queer baiting or representation so please take this with one hundred grains of salt but to me nothing will be gayer than a show that aired in the early 2000s with no intentions of being gay that vehemently fights against all allegations of queerness, despite there clearly being insane chemistry between two same sex characters. like, oh these two allegedly straight characters just look at each other like that and say things like that for no reason???? you just dressed them up in gay little outfits to go on completely heterosexual dates???
#think about it#so many shows most popular canon ships are often the ones they didn’t intend from the beginning#it’s usually the one where they were like: oh these actors actually have really good chemistry and the fans seem into it so let’s write it#it’s such a shame that they never did that for any of the gay ships#and other than the really good shows these days that actually have lgbtq+ rep in the writers rooms#a lot of them try to write gay relationships that don’t end up feeling compelling#bc it feels like they are writing a straight persons idea of a gay relationship#instead of writing fleshed out characters that just happen to fall in love with each other and be queer#this may not make sense and my brian may not be braining#lmk if this sounds dumb lmao i’ll delete it#lgbtq#lgbt writing#lgbt representation#lgbt television#lgbtq community

What if all fanfiction writers had the same attitudes that so many readers do? What if we treated our stories like content?
Readers: I won’t read WIPs, only completed work and LONG fics.
Writers: I will only post finished works once a year, you will never see 90% of my ideas and have no part of the creative process.
Readers: I will only read works that have tons of views/kudos/bookmarks.
Writers: I won’t update unless I have interest in my story. I’ll post a new chapter for every 100 kudos, 10 comments, and 5 bookmarks.
Readers: I can do whatever I want with fanfics, sell bound copies and criticise them publicly.
Writers: I will delete my fics without warning and never share more.
This is how you end fandom culture. This is how you lose AO3 and access to so many incredible stories for FREE.

hello! longtime fan and fellow massachusettsan here! something that has plagued me for years is the choice for methuen to be the setting for hill house - of all the towns in MA, what made you settle on methuen? were you trying to avoid any overtly spooky history (danvers, ipswich, andover, peabody, or any of the Old Salem area)? was it more of an aim for just an unassuming real place? i'm deeply curious!
I have family in Methuen, and spent a fair amount of time there as a kid. My father was born and raised in Gloucester, and I was born in Salem, but most of my childhood visits were to my aunts and uncles in Methuen, so that felt like a good idea for this one. I didn't want to do anything that had a spooky lore to it (Salem would have eclipsed the whole show), and this felt like a good fit.

i love that as soon as emma and regina meet they already act like a married couple going through the messiest divorce. one constantly ordering the other to leave while the other stubbornly stays out of spite, mutual threats, destroying each other's property, wearing each other's shirt. all this while full on battling for the guardianship attention of their 10 year old son.
