So, pros and cons of The Flash (Dawn of DC) #1
Pros:
The kids are in middle school! Glad to see they're being allowed to grow up.
The horror stuff is really cool and I'm enjoying it a lot
Really good art
The narrative style is fun and creative.
Cons:
Wally feels OOC in his treatment of the Speed Force, insisting it has to be scientific which has never been his thing.
Wally is also written as way too oblivious and dismissive of Linda trying to tell him what she needs.
Off of that, Spurrier feels like he's trying to make Wally and Linda's relationship fail in a forced way. If he does that it will ruin this book and be a massive middle finger to the entire fanbase.
Silly nitpick, but how TF does Michael fucking Holt need to be reminded of PEMDAS???? Also him being a distant, unavailable dad makes zero sense given how he was shown in the previous run or how he was JUST reunited with his son who he thought was dead.
They're trying to make Jai a future supervillain again.

Here at last: Barry spending time with his children while they’re still children. Their hair will get darker as they get older. Thanks everyone who participated in my poll!

The Flashfam is hilarious bc they’re all just running around having super angsty backstories but making jokes and laughing through the pain as they fuck with time. They’ve all got three names in both civilian and hero form they just pass around like a hot potato. Everyone but Bart is in a jealous competition for Barry’s attention because none of them have stable parental figures sans Iris and Barry sans Bart who’s just vibing with YJ. Whenever a new one shows up they’re like “literally go fuck yourself right now”. They’re so much fun. Someone get them all a therapist.

How times have changed! In the new Dawn of DC Titans series, the Titans explicitly refuse to work for the US government.
Apparently, they did not have such feelings in the 1960s when they did multiple missions for the US government.

DC really needs to up their creativity when naming the speedsters.
Bartholomew (Barry) Allen
Bartholomew (Bart) Allen II
Wallace (Wally) West
Wallace (Ace) West
Donald (Don) Allen
Dawn Allen
And finally the first and also the only one without a similar name in the family.
Jason Peter Garrick (not to be confused with Jason Peter Todd)
I hopefully rest my case.
