licherally the way they're all back at the beginning... kendall is never going to be CEO just like in episode 1. he spent 4 seasons trying to be CEO and trying to find meaning with his father and trying to find meaning in opposition to his father and then trying to become his father and now he will never be his father in the one way that matters to him. roman is once again the unserious asshole in the bar. he thought he could maybe be someone else but he failed and now this chapter is just a 'weird little detour'. shiv stays married to tom because he's ceo so through him she can access power and try to influence waystar, just like how in season 1 she wanted him to eventually be ceo because she thought (knew) logan would never let her be ceo and this is the one way she could get access. tom once again has power over greg because he's ceo and because greg tried to betray him and failed which means he now owes tom everything for not firing him, which means their relationship can reset back to the s1-s2 dynamics tom was so comfortable in rather than the more equal s4 dynamic which he chafed at. tom's going to let himself be the 'pain sponge' in a never-ending game of boar on the floor because that's the only way to get ahead. they suffered so much just to end up right back where they started and thats what we call 'tragic waste' babey

That anon making me think, do you guys think in the middle of s4 greg realized that his comphetness playboy image was not getting him closer to sex 'with tom' as he thought before and changed tactic to just.... ask for it? Because he did start to get bold -well bolder- there wasn't he? I don't know if it's mostly triggered by the jealousy of seeing other assistants, the threat of tom going back to shiv again, or the threat of being abandoned in his job, or some sort of combination of the three. Even in the finale, greg just went to him and ask if tom'll take greg with him.

Which brings me to another point, I would not be surprised at all if greg is gonna be the one who initiate their first kiss post s4.

OOF!!! ohhhnnhggnhg anooooons you guys are killing me! no bc that’s so true like especially in america decides greg is Literally like “wanna strategise?” and he Must know full well tom finds that hot so he’s basically outright asking at that point to fuck, or at least do something that gets tom off without the proxy of rando women. and then ofc is the outright question of where they are in terms of them. he refers to matsson to mirror his and tom’s relationship in where it started and how far it’s come and how he likes it and he wants it to continue; he likes the closeness and the way tom treats him with trust and care a la late s3, the way tom treats him like a spouse.

and yesssss in the finale tom was still greg’s choice, and still who he wanted to be with, he’s happy to be in a position to be taken care of because as we should know he knows basically everything about tom and could tear him to shreds professionally if he wanted to, but he never did. and he accepted the sticker so happily and the reaction to “i got you” and the arm stroke and being forgiven and accepted and loved which no one has ever done for him before… ah!!! romance!

oh yeah i wouldn’t either. there is an interaction in sims 3 called “heat of the moment kiss” which is like my Favourite of all where one lunges in and wraps their arms around and kisses them and the other is like !!! then pulls back and if accepted, the kissee pulls them back in by the arms and they kissu. that’s basically how it went babey!!!

alright here's my thoughts on how you'd fix stranger things (starting at s3 bc my stance was always that i could deal with how s3 did s2 dirty if it was building up to something properly in s4 and haha. hahaha. hahahaha. ahahahahahaahaha.)

mostly in vague terms of character arcs bc i'm still niggling at the idea of writing some screenplays for alternate episodes as a writing exercise

max vs mike: honestly the max/mike as foils aspect was GALAXY BRAINED and UNDERUTILIZED but it should have been mike's hypervigilance vs max's rebellion. *me dry heaving with the urge to not go on a rant about how the duffer bros see anyone with a gf as Normal and this blinds them to the traumatic elements that--*

mike should have been, honestly, on the same side as hopper. like, he's an angsty pre-teen so he won't ADMIT that he's on hopper's side but i think his friction with the party should have been that he's constantly overthinking where el can go without being noticed. you could still have the hormonal teens aspect with some grumpiness vs hopper but i think the overall aspect should have been that mike and hopper are very similarly overly protective

meanwhile max is going through it at home with extremely overbearing patriarchal figures. setting up for her grief arc in season 3, we really should have seen how billy is being abused, how he hands it down to max (by being biting with her from a safe distance since she laid down the law) and how she then struggles not to hand that down to lucas (also she should have had another moment where she again threatens billy away from lucas, showcasing the fact that she's as protective as mike is, despite her quarreling with lucas). so coming off this oppressive environment, she pushes to get el into freedom, being a little bit reckless, bc honestly who's gonna know? wound up with teenage overconfidence for taking on billy + a little bit of a self harm undertone because of her frustration with herself for inadvertent curtness with lucas bc of her struggles at home

the nancy/jonathan subplot is pretty good, but honestly? i think both of their sides should have been legitimized. keep and possibly even amplify all the moments with karen and nancy and the very serious fact that nancy is the victim of misogyny, but also give the byers more money troubles!! give jonathan and joyce moments where they're struggling financially! give joyce struggling to find work bc everything is shutting down because of the mall!! *slams fists on tables* lean into the horror of the mall!! the mall devours!!! the mall is the flesh monster, devouring all!!!!

ANYWAY

shut the absolute fuck up with making hopper unlikable so he can be redeemed by *checks notes* being tortured in a russian prison. fucking christian-ass hellsinner nonsense. give me hopper floundering trying to give joyce a sense of safety. taking her seriously but not knowing how to help. knowing she's thinking of moving away for money and trauma reasons. being scared to ask her to stay. being scared to offer to protect her. and honestly, i think he should have moved to cali with them, purely bc joyce felt safer that way and that's part of his redemption arc is just to trust her

make will less uwu babey boy. boy's been possessed. let him be fucking sloppy and mean. have him fighting not (entirely) against his friends to keep his lost childhood, but also himself. give him a crushes he doesn't want to have. make him be a dick about lucas and mike trying to get el back after the breakup. make mike be a dick back bc will started getting personal. FUCKING INCLUDE LUCAS IN THE ARGUMENT BRO

speaking of lucas has such an underdeveloped character arc in season 3 you'd have to invent it from scratch and tbh i'm still fucking noodling on this one. i feel like it'd have to contrast max and mike's different takes on overprotection. honestly, i feel like lucas' entire thing is the competition for hero with mike in s1, which would be an interesting arc - like, honestly, it would be fun if lucas was getting REALLY into tactics and it's part of the reason he hard commits to fixing mike and el's relationship but he's also weird about d&d now. it would make an interesting shift from the whole "sorry will lol we have GIRLFRIENDS now so we don't have TIME for interests, that's how PUBERTY works bc what 13-14 yos are really known for is being really normal about their interests and only being into girls). like maybe they've been straying from d&d bc mike's overvigilance is leaking into his dming and lucas' tactical special interests are leaking into his rp and dustin's over it and will wants them to just play d&d NORMALLY bc he doesn't want to face that he's not normal anymore and never will be again and this is deeply intertwined with the horror of puberty and queerness and trauma

i like the scoops troop dynamic but i think they shouldn't have been so disconnected from the party. i think there should have been this chaos with mike and max's war of the different flavors of the same person and lucas' Operation Get My Bf and Gf to Agree campaign and meanwhile dustin is like "so anyway there's a russian base underground" and they're like "DUSTING THERE'S NOT A RUSSIAN BASE UNDER THE MALL"

i don't care about alexei get rid of him

honestly i don't care if this is my get babygirl steve a boyfriend agenda, i think eddie should have been introduced in s3 as a direct foil to billy and a queer puberty parallel for will. i'm too winded from my other thoughts to elaborate but i'm right

karen should have divorced ted. instead of being like "what am i doing nearly fucking a teenager i have a family" she should have been like "what am i doing nearly fucking a teenager i gotta GET OUT OF THIS FUCKING MARRIAGE"

it’s wild to me that tom managed to fool so many people pre s4 that he 1) lacked ambition in favor of shiv’s ultimate goal 2) was wholly subservient in the relationship. beyond how he lashed out at greg when he can’t lash out at shiv—and stopped paying attention to greg altogether when he started lashing out at shiv—i think matthew macfadyen played tom of tomshiv with distinct insecurity and frustration. regardless of his real affection for shiv, he was also plotting from day one; he romanced shiv at her most vulnerable, ensured she’d rely on him emotionally. he ingratiated himself into her family.

tom also expected her to have his children, eventually. like logan (and many guys,) i think he genuinely expected shiv to change her mind about having children + fall into the motherhood role after giving birth. in that context, it makes sense why he played the beta to her alpha. one day, he’d be the father and she’d be the mother. on the surface, sucking up to logan doesn’t fit with this pov. however, i think tom realizes that to earn logan’s approval, he needs to be the yes man and the patsy. approval isn’t quite respect, however—that came, i believe, when tom sold out his own wife to come out on top.

going back to shiv + tom’s subservient role: i think shiv’s request for non-monogamy really shook up his plans. it also showed the cracks in tom’s performance. he says it himself: he’s traditional. he wants a traditional american white heterosexual marriage. man and wife, to have and to hold, one leads and one follows. in tom’s view, shiv cuckolding him makes their power imbalance tangible in a way he can’t process or tolerate. if he expresses this view, however, she might dump him for a guy who will follow her lead. and where would that leave tom? so he tries to fit the non-monogamy into his longterm plan, but epically fails because it’s irreconcilable, fundamentally.

tom also loves her, genuinely. and she loves him. that makes it all especially more volatile. this is why tom looks like a husk after achieving his ultimate goal in the finale. it’s why he reaches for shiv’s hand in the end. it would be a dream come true if it weren’t such a fucking nightmare.

but anyway! really wild that people believed tom when he said and did all that. he was a logan kinny from day one babey

Like, I'm kinda meh on Jason. We don't see a ton of him before Chrissy dies, so it's hard to tell what he was like before he was traumatized. Like he could only be bullying Eddie because he's making a scene or he could be bullying other characters. What I will say is that he seemed smitten and cared for Chrissy, even if he didn't realize that she was struggling more than she seemed, at least in my opinion. But anyways, one of the fics I liked a lot was "Make her Proud" by Mochatears on AO3 where it explores what if Max started rising earlier and it focuses on Jason and his grief, and I feel like you might like it.

i’m pretty meh about jason too, people just started sending me asks about him lmao. i do think he’s one of the more interesting antagonists that we’ve had in a while, and i do wish the duffers had done a bit more with him than they did, but i don’t really care that much about him, you know? it’s more just, like, i’ll roll my eyes a little if people have him be this insane monster in pre-s4 fics.

i would argue against the idea that we ever see jason bully eddie. but if it is bullying to call a boy a freak that is standing on a cafeteria table in the middle of lunch screaming at you for conforming to society and judging your interests because you don’t like d&d, then call me a bully, babey.

like, do i love eddie? yes. is he a freak that i would avoid in high school? also yes.

but anyway! yeah, i agree that it does seem like jason really did care about chrissy, for the little bit that we see. and yeah, he may have missed how badly she was struggling, but to be fair to jason, the whole vecna thing only takes about a week, so he really didn’t have time to notice! and i will have to check that fic out! thanks!!

LMK Heirs AU

P much it’s an AU built around my off-on hatred for Guanyin and how the pilgrims handled Red Son in JTTW (which iirc there were in-world consequences for but I’m too attached to Red to not want to give him a better fate than getting stabbed and taken away from his parents)

Tl;dr of it is that after the Journey was a success, everyone (the Demon Bull family, Ao Lie’s family, the pilgrims, and Wukong’s troop from FFM + Macaque) all live happily in Tianlong Palace. The heirs (Red, LXJ, QXT) live out peaceful lives with everything they could ever ask for.

Not S3 or S4 compliant since me & my friends wrote this pre S3’s CN release

There are some other changes for some chars.

Macaque

He didn’t die!!!!!

When he went to confront SWK + the Pilgrims, he didn’t get murdered after being stopped at the Buddha’s Monastery and instead Guanyin gave him some cursed Bling

Said cursed Bling, by SWK’s request, only activates if Macaque tries to attack him and even then he’ll only go boneless

After that he was sent back to FFM to protect Wukong’s troop

Once the pilgrimage was done and the palace everyone lives at got established (Tianlong Palace), Guanyin named his as SWK’s guardian and said that if he protects SWK for a full five centuries then he’ll be free of his Bling

He’s salty ofc but he isn’t really mad-mad at SWK abt the whole ‘you abandoned me for this?’ thing because it got explained to him civilly

Mei / Long Xiaojiao

Born waaaaaaaay earlier to match the others

More dragon than human for this AU, so dragon tale and horns and all that good stuff. It also means she’s marginally more powerful than she was in S1 and S2 but not quite S3’s True Samadhi Fire power up

Because she’s closer in lineage to Ao Lie (WHO IS SO BABEY???), she’s Ao Xiaojiao (but still Mei otherwise, 100% named by Ao Lie)

More natural direction + utilization of dragon powers w/o the sword, trained by Ao Lie & his brothers

MK / Qi Xiaotian

Not really sure why he’s here actually, I never thought that far??? I know there’s something abt him being a baby stone Monkie in S4 so maybe that??

Like Mei/Xiaojiao, he’s Sun Xiaotian :muscle: and also has a more innate connection with the Monkey King powers (but no staff, RJB is still w SWK)

the Pilgrims have a mix of like Tang, Pigsy, & Sandy’s personality and OSP’s representation of them

Red Son/Hong Hai’er has the True Fire still because S3 wasn’t out back when I wrote this but it also might be split? Acc to a personal headcanon of mine + my close friend, he and Mei have the Positive and Negatively True Fire respectively which connects them On A Different Level

Plot is essentially that the Pilgrims get antsy staying for too long & go Journeying To The West for a while, DBK + PIF are handling an issue on the east coast, and Mei’s parents are visiting Lie’s family. While the palace is left to MK, Mei, and Red (and a reluctant bodyguard Macaque), shit gets real while they’re away (like corrupt ‘ministers’ and wrongly imprisoned monkey men, etc)

Hello again, I'd love to here more about Harumi and Sensei Garmadon, they sound really cute and fluffy!

hello again to you too~ late response cuz you caught me just as i was heading to sleep last night, whoops

havent intensely thought abt green swap in a hot second but!!! garmadon and harumi!!

for one, you are right, they are cute and fluffy. that found family dynamic, ykno?

on the other hand...

so, at like, s3, s4, that point, sensei g pretty much adopted harumi, and harumi is thrilled abt it cuz he's cool, but, at the beginning, they really only click cuz the other is what they "want" in a sense

see, harumi's motivation for finding the serpentine was distracting herself from her grief over her parents. and this plays a lot into my perception of canon harumi, too. i think she never quite got over that loss in canon too, and one of her big reasons for summoning garmadon isnt just revenge. she's also projected onto him as a pseudo parental figure for herself, hence the whole "what about a daughter?" scene from s8. she's still craving the parental affection she was robbed of.

with less time for this to fester, and much different circumstances behind her parents' deaths, she again latches onto garmadon as a replacement for her own parents

and garmadon is happy to oblige, cuz he misses lloyd, basically. in this AU, the ninja never find lloyd, so he's just Out There for a bit. Lloyd cant find garmadon and garmadon cant find lloyd and they both miss each other a ton.

when wu breaks garmadon out of the realm of madness to rescue harumi, he has way less emotional stake in it. but he still does it, cuz he sees a scared kid and just... can't help himself. initially, it is very much the affection for lloyd he never could live out, redirected. projection on both sides lmao.

for what i imagine s2 here, that's where harumi really starts seeing good in him. cuz, even if he's possessed by the overlord, even if he is the lord of evil, someone willing to storm a volcano for some random kid can't be all bad. harumi refuses to believe that.

and for sensei g, this girl believing in his inherent goodness is what finally saved him.

we have a selfless act in s1 stacking up with a selfless act in s2, so when s3 comes and the two have to stick together for weeks, they're inseperable after.

once they can get to know each other as people, the element of projection also lessens, and the two start on processing their grief, one step at a time.

(of course, lloyd is still alive, but hey, garmadon doesn't know that.)

and after all that, you get a scene from a fic i really should finish!! (thank you lloydweek for providing incentive for me to do so. i see the prompt trust/betrayal and i yell GREEN SWAP TIME BABEY)

it's still Rough tho i need to rewrite it lmao. hence all lowercase cuz i'm lazy. anyway.

maybe it’s the nick cave i have playing in the background but like. i’m genuinely upset thinking about ashley and his concept of family + his found family before christian, before ophelia, before go set a watchman ever happened.

when he was a kid, he had henri. his honorary uncle, his ( nonreligious ) godfather. when ashley was seven years old and almost broke his leg by falling out of a tree, henri carried him back to the farmhouse. henri taught him every card game he knew, he taught him how to find the stars, the big and little bear, he taught him how to repair vehicles and how to cook. when zachariah, ashley’s uncle, died, and his father was too drunk too attend the funeral, henri straightened ashley’s tie and stayed by his side. he stayed with him. ashley didn’t have a father until henri stepped into his life.

in the corps, he had morgan and emmett. tim, too. after the corps, when emmett finally had the time to mourn his brother, and became hostile towards ashley once again, it was tim, their old medic, who kept a candle in the window. and ashley spent a few nights sleeping on his couch with the television on, he spent a few evenings sitting with tim on the porch, trying to process their griefs together. and tim was, in a way, another father figure to ashley, he was a shoulder to lean on. tim was the one who urged him to keep trying to find a therapist, who checked up on him, who called whenever ashley got quiet, asking if he was alright, asking if he needed anything.

there’s a lot of people i’m leaving out but like. ashley’s never believed in the entire blood is thicker than water reminder. he holds those that he considers family very near and dear to his heart, and he believes that he owes them. ashley prides himself on being stronger than his father, but every once in a while, when the night gets too quiet, and he’s still sleepless in the earliest hours of morning, he thinks about what could’ve become of him, if he never had anyone to help him get back on his feet, if he was all alone, like his father was.

#at the end of s1. ashley says he doesn't think he'll be able to stand any more death #which. in my opinion. makes tim's death hurt Real Bad in s4 #like there are obviously a lot more deaths between those two moments but #it still hurts babey!#i created tim with the intent of him being killed later in the series but now like. he's grown on me so much. what the fuck #feel like pure shit just want him back
