Hii!! I just read your answer to the other anon about quuerbait and journalism it was akl very clear, thank you. I have only one doubt in my head, if they already have a gay canon couple with henren and in general the show is very diverse. Why wouldnt fox let them make buddie canon?
If my speculation is true and FOX wouldn't let them do Buddie (I know nothing this is entirely speculation)...
There's this continued bias in television that characters are whatever sexuality you decided they were when you first introduced them. Queer characters can only be queer if they were planned as queer from the beginning. Hen and Michael are both strongly established as gay in the pilot episode, for example.
Characters that started out straight (or as far as the audience knows are straight) and are allowed to be revealed as queer, or realize they are queer, are very few and far between. Networks, showrunners, writers, etc still struggle to accept that maybe a character has naturally evolved, or a relationship has naturally evolved, into something queer.
Especially when it's conventionally attractive men, because you not only bring homophobia/biphobia into play but toxic masculinity as well.
Additionally, we know that FOX really, really pushed Oliver (the handsome young white man) as the "face" of the show and pushed him to do the majority of the PR for the show the last few years. So it would not surprise me if they wanted Buck to remain an available man with various (straight) romantic escapades for cheap stereotypical drama.
I also (personally) noticed after season one a real drop in letting the characters be... adults that have adult sex lives? The way the couples interact is very... PG? Even Bathena who is noted for having a kinky sex life, it's played for laughs. Compare the "fire in the kitchen" roleplay that May walks into vs the handcuffed situation Athena calls Hen for help with in season one. But Hen and Karen especially it felt very PG? this is just a personal vibe and others might very well think I'm crazy but I just got a real... sense that Hen and Karen and other queer characters were allowed to discuss their queerness but not show it. There wasn't a genuine sexiness allowed. But that was an issue (in my opinion!) across the board after season one. I just really really noticed it with Hen and Karen.
But that last one is really my personal "vibe check" and others could certainly feel differently. Mostly it's the fact that we're seeing FOX didn't allow them to do things they wanted in other areas, so it wouldn't surprise me if they also didn't allow Buddie to happen, especially when you consider that FOX really pushed Oliver/Buck as the star/face of 9-1-1 (something the actors commented on and disliked) the last few seasons (Tim has even hinted that he felt recent Buck storylines were stupid), and the fact that historically, trying to take a character originally believed to be straight and having them actually be queer gets a lot of pushback and is still pretty rare in the TV landscape.

✨Pairing✨: sugardaddy!Lloyd Hansenxsugarbaby!black!reader
Summary🪄: Overhearing a conversation makes you question your relationship
⚠️: age gap (reader is in mid to late twenties, Lloyd is in early 40s), lil angsty, kinda ends in fluff though (Lloyd’s actually a little sweet), mention of nudity, degrading Harvard women, mention of bullying, mentions of happy adult fun times, spanking
A/N🎙: Hey guys! So the topics in this I feel like is a bit of a different direction for me and what I usually write (at least I’d say so since I’m mostly all fluff with a touch of PG-13 lol). And I’m saying all that to ultimately be honest in hoping that it’s not cringey or anything, and of course if there’s any warnings/labeling of characters I’m missing to please let me know
Bare feet padding closer and holding two freshly opened beers, you softly smile to yourself hearing the two men in the entertainment room alternating between cheering and berating—well, more so berating—those in uniforms and helmets on the tv scattering along the green field. They weren’t able to do it much, but whenever Lloyd and Danny Carmichael were able to hang out, it always made your heart swell. It was like watching an adorable play date between children that just so happened to include talks of recent targets and new torture methods.
“Gentlemen,” you nod setting the sweating bottle on the coaster next to an appreciative Carmichael before walking behind the leather sectional to set your boyfriend’s in his hand.
“Thank you ma poupée (my little doll),” Lloyd smiles gently patting your bottom as you turn to walk away. A short giggle escaping your lips when he winks and blows you a kiss you happily return. “Sure you don’t want to watch the game with us sunshine?”
“If you can call it a game really,” Danny chuckles along with his closest friend before taking a long sip from his bottle.
“No it’s okay, I’ll let you boys have your time together. Plus there’s a pie in the oven that needs tending to.”
Collecting the empty bottles, you’re just outside the cracked door about to journey further down the hall to the kitchen when the mention of your name in their conversation peaks your interest. Should you be eavesdropping? No, but they’ll never find out.
“Y/N’s a real sweetheart.”
“Yea,” Lloyd smiles setting down his now half full bottle. “I lucked out with that one.”
“Can always count on the infamous Lloyd Hansen to find someone to lick his wounds whether it was after a game in college or now after a mission,” his closest friend grins stretching his arms along the back of the couch. “All of them so desperate and willing to be the one to heal ole Sniper.”
Excuse me?
“Like I was the only one. Pretty sure I remember getting blown off more than a couple times when you found a few friends yourself.” The lean man only smiles to himself removing his glasses to clean a smudge from the corner.
“That’s the thing about Harvard women. They might have high IQs, but they have extremely low self esteems.”
“And even higher libidos.”
Hearty chuckles rumble through their chests as they clink their bottles together before their berating starts again due to a terrible play resulting in an interception. You don’t hear anymore of their nostalgic memories, quickly strutting to the kitchen and roughly tossing the empty glasses into the garbage.
Was that all you were to him? Just a desperate groupie of sorts eager to be used?
“I most certainly am not,” you state to yourself frustratedly tapping your foot as you wait for the timer to finish on your currently browning dessert.
“Y/N doesn’t compare to those ‘I never felt pretty because I was bullied in middle school’ minnows though. She’s in a league of her own.” Hearing his friend so smitten over someone has a proud warmth spreading along his chest.
Whether Lloyd would admit it or not, Carmichael knew wedding bells were surely on the horizon.
“You better stay on your toes then. Anyone could be looking to swoop in.” The assassin doesn’t quite like the way those words sound spilling from his partner’s alcohol tinged lips, turning in his seat with muscular arms crossed in front of his chest.
“I’d like to see them try.”
“Relax I wasn’t talking about me. What kind of friend do you think I am?,” Carmichael lightly shakes his head. “Although I can’t say I wouldn’t try if you weren’t in the picture.”
Just as quick as he finishes his sentence, Lloyd has his pocket knife brandished reflecting the light from the chandelier over head as he tilts it back and forth.
“Please don’t make me ruin this couch. We just got it from Milan.”
-
“Thank you for everything Y/N. And that pie?! Incredible.”
“Well thank you I’m glad you liked it,” you smile handing him a small Tupperware with a couple more slices. “And it’s no problem. You’re family and family always gets taken care of here.”
“Such the little hostess,” Lloyd whispers in your ear as his strong hand on your waist brings you closer into his side. His pink lips tenderly pressing against your temple before his attention turns toward his friend. “So, same time next week?”
“Afraid not. I’ll be out the country dealing with some things, but I’ll let you know when I’m back.”
Wishing each other a good night, you both watch to make sure Danny makes it to his Porsche—tossing a final wave or two—and out the seemingly mile long driveway off the compound before going back into the warmly lit mansion. Lloyd’s mouth attached to your neck the whole time as he follows you into the kitchen with his body pressed firmly into your back and hands roaming and gripping from your chest to your core.
You’d easily be putty right now practically begging him to ruin you if it weren’t for his earlier words ringing in your ears.
“Lloyd please, I need to clean up,” you state immediately halting his lips and making him lift his head with furrowed brows.
“Correct me if I’m wrong-and don’t bother because I know I’m right…but Lloyd is not a name for you to call me sunshine.” The way his hand grips your chin turning your face towards him is a warning, but you could care less feeling extra bold tonight.
“So when someone asks me your name what am I supposed to say? Honeybuns?”
His chuckle isn’t an amused one.
“Don’t play dumb, it’s not a cute look on you.” His grip tightens causing a squeak of a whimper to crawl up your throat, meanwhile his other hand pulls a cherry from the nearby bowl to place on his tongue. “Now we had a good day; had a nice visit from a friend. Don’t ruin it by giving me a headache yea?”
“…I’m sorry.”
Narrowing his eyes, he doesn’t fully believe you are. He can tell something’s ticking behind those doe-like brown eyes, but he’s willing to let it go being in an overall good mood.
He pulls you closer to kiss your lips before letting your chin go. His long legs sauntering to the circular dinner table to take a seat. “Prove it by getting me another slice of pie chérie (darling).”
Oh, you’ll get a slice alright.
Cutting a good hunk of a piece, you place it in the microwave for a few seconds to make sure it was warmed to his liking before moving to get the whip cream from the fridge. You flash him a cheeky smile not so innocently licking the leftover white cream from your finger you gathered along the nozzle. A slight moan vibrating your chest while his oceanic eyes never leave you and fingers drum along the hardwood.
You step closer and closer with hips gently swaying until you’re standing in front of the now smirking man. He thinks he’s got it all figured out, but oh how wrong he was.
“If someone’s feeling extra needy for her monstre (monster) now that she finally has him all to herself, all she has to do is say so rather than try to brat her way into getting what she wants.”
Flashing your fakest smile, you easily tip the plate until the whip cream, crust, and the caramelized apples inside fall onto Lloyd’s crotch causing him to groan from the uncomfortable heat on his sensitive area. It’s nothing compared to the heat radiating from his skin and angry glare that bore into your soul though.
Stand strong, it’ll be worth it. You might die, but it’ll be worth it.
“Wouldn’t exactly say needy is how I’m feeling right now.”
In the blink of an eye, your wrists are held behind your back and body twisted until your front is pressed against the table. Your flowy, flower printed summer dress flipped up to expose your lacy clad bottom as your cheek uncomfortably rests on a placemat. You try to wiggle free, but his hand strongly smacking your bottom once then twice has you stilling and “ow’s” falling from your mouth.
“What’s your problem?! Not get enough attention when all I’ve done today is dote on and compliment my darling girl?!” Another smack. “Say how wonderful of a hostess and housewife you were.” Smack. “Fill her up just how she likes not once, but twice today!”
The next few smacks are harder than the others making tears drip down your face twisted in pain.
“Would’ve been three, but now I’m thinking three weeks with nothing!” Watching you softly sob while your body trembles with each additional blow has a demented smile creeping along his lips. “Aww don’t cry now sunshine. And you know what? For safe measures, maybe I should use the plugs? Take away your toys too so you don’t get any ideas. Even try to hunt down a chastity belt..and don’t think I can’t sunshine!”
“T-Then I guess y-you’ll find some other d-desperate chick to lick your wounds,” you manage to speak having controlled your cries long enough. His hand hangs beside his body for a few moments before meeting your sore, and surely reddened, bottom one last time causing you to helplessly yelp.
His muscular frame easily allows him to maneuver your body that you’re now facing him with soaked lashes and an indented cheek—along with throbbing lower ones. His palm caressing the side of your throat and thumb gently grazing the hollow spot at its base gives your body a moment to reset and relax knowing this was now “nurturing” Lloyd in control.
“Mm..being nosy,” he calmly states as your hands nervously wrung behind you.
“O-Or you talk loud…” Beginning to knead the back of your neck with his warm fingertips, it makes your heart pick up its pace anticipating his grip to tighten and your vision to eventually become blurry any minute now.
Instead though..he just grins to himself, and you dare not move, speak, or do anything unsure of his next step. That was his speciality after all, keeping everyone—including his own men at times—guessing and on their toes.
He claimed things were more fun that way.
“Well if that were the case, you would’ve heard how those past women don’t deserve the be in the same room as you, nor can they hold a candle to the ethereal beauty and existence that is you my dear.”
“…really?,” you quietly ask. Your curled lashes fluttering and mouth set in that adorable pout Lloyd would eagerly kill for.
“Do you think I’d be so incompetent to waste my precious time gladly spending hundreds and thousands of dollars on someone who I knew didn’t deserve it?” Your shrug causes a sigh to slip past his lips seemingly annoyed that you weren’t getting it already.
“Those women were only good for one thing, and after? They were gone faster than a sack of roadkill at a hillbilly convention. But you, my infuriating gumdrop, the moment I saw you there was nothing more that I wanted to do than give you my time. My money. My love. Everything I could offer that I knew no other man ever could.”
The brush of his soft lips against your forehead, cheeks, and finally resting on your lips has a giggle erupting from your chest and a new pep coursing up your spine. It’s immediately replaced by guilt though at nearly burning your love’s family jewels.
Your arms wrap around his neck raising on your tip toes to carefully peck up from his neck to his jaw and that spot below his earlobe only you knew of. It was the tell tale beginning of one of your apologies that would lead to you begging to make it up to him and a very long night that ran into the early morning.
“I’m sorry my maniacal bon bon. I just overheard and then it made me feel like-like…nothing. As if you’d easily get rid of me at any moment like the others.”
“But you should’ve known better sunshine. What do I always promise hm?”
“To take care of me.”
“And haven’t I been doing a good job?”
“Better than good!,” you smile excitedly pouncing onto his body like a koala on its favorite tree. His hands grasp under your thighs to steady you as you shower the smooth skin of his smiling face in kisses.
“I know,” he chuckles passionately meeting your lips once more before tapping your already tender bottom for you to get down. “Now, you know your little tantrum hurt daddy..”
“I know.” Your downcast gaze towards the tiled floor below is interrupted by his large hand gripping your chin and forcing your eyes to his calm ones.
“So what happens next?”
“I get punished like the ungrateful brat I chose to be,” you sigh.
“Very good! For that I’ll try to go easy on you,” he winks patting your bottom and causing you to whimper. “You are gonna clean up this mess, and my pants, while I enjoy the lovely view. All the while in proper attire of course.” That meant fully nude and gagged so you couldn’t complain even if you wanted to.
And if Lloyd was feeling extra cruel, that could mean the special panties only he could control. Luckily it didn’t seem like he was in that kind of mood tonight.
“Then after I say you’re done,” he explains removing his white pants and tossing them at your feet before sitting cross-legged in the metal chair, “I’ll fix you a nice bath and be sure to pay close attention to my sweetest peach.”
His hand soothingly rubbing up and down your bottom makes it hard to leave feeling yourself getting lost in the comfort. You know you need to move though, and soon, if you want that bath and more of his strong hands all over you—in a caring, loving way that is.
“Thank you honeybuns.”
“Of course sunshine, now hurry up before that stain sets.”

Review: Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022)
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022)
Rated PG for action/violence, rude humor/language, and some scary moments
Tumblr media
<Originally posted at https://kevinsreviewcatalogue.blogspot.com/2023/12/review-puss-in-boots-last-wish-2022.html>
Score: 5 out of 5
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is a movie I missed last year, which made it kind of annoying to hear so many people praising it to the heavens as one of the best animated films in years, not least of all because I'm the kind of guy who does not like spoilers. Flying down to Florida just in time to share a house with three little kids over Christmas break gave me the perfect opportunity to check it out, and the only thing I'm disappointed about is not seeing it sooner. It doesn't reinvent the wheel or have any pretensions of being a particularly revelatory movie, but it's still an outstandingly well-put-together one in everything from the animation to the characters to the humor to the mayhem. Putting it side-by-side with Shrek, the film that put DreamWorks Animation in the spotlight and which this one is a sequel to a spinoff of, shows just how much the studio has evolved in the twenty-plus years since then, going from mischievous, Looney Tunes-esque pop culture spoofs with barbs aimed directly at Disney to a kind of family-friendly, character-driven adventure comedy that's clearly inspired by the Mouse but still has enough unique style and dramatic edge to stand out. I don't really have much to add to the conversation on this one except to say that it's easily one of the best films that DreamWorks has ever made, especially given what I thought of the movie they released just eight months before this, and one that I expect to stick around as a classic just like Shrek itself.
Set in a fantasy/fairy-tale version of Spain, our eponymous protagonist is an intelligent cat who has exploited his nine lives to become an adventurer who doesn't fear death... at least, not until he loses his eighth life thanks to his carelessness fighting a monster attacking a town. Suddenly, he no longer feels so invincible, especially once he encounters a mysterious wolf bounty hunter who seeks to claim his ninth and final life after watching him squander his previous eight. Going into retirement in an elderly cat lady's home after burying his sword and gear, Puss is dragged back to the world of adventure when Goldilocks, the thuggish leader of the Three Bears Crime Family (guess who her "enforcers" are), seeks to hire him to find the Wishing Star, a magical rock that would grant one wish to whoever discovers it -- and she won't take no for an answer. Puss decides that this star is his key to regaining his nine lives, and with help from an old flame named Kitty Softpaws, he sets out to find it himself, staying one step ahead of Goldilocks, the evil businessman "Big" Jack Horner who wants it for his own ends, and of course, the Wolf.
The look of the film is one of the most immediately striking things about it. While it's not the first film to use cel shading to make computer animation emulate the look of hand-drawn animation while being distinct from both (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and The Mitchells vs. the Machines did something similar recently), it's going for a different set of influences than those films, its look instead resembling a mix of the fairy tale artwork that the Shrek movies have always spoofed and anime in the action scenes. The settings feel lifted almost from a highly stylized painting or storybook, while the action looks downright sublime, the film's characters doing battle, chasing one another, and facing various treacherous foes on their quest for the Wishing Star in all manner of awesome ways. Even as cats, Puss and Kitty came across as credible and cool adventure heroes, especially with Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek Pinault leaning heavily into their live-action screen personas, Banderas playing Puss as a riff on Zorro where the only real "parody" element comes from his species and Hayek playing Kitty as the cool femme fatale who has history with the hero that they'll inevitably have to settle. Florence Pugh was hilarious doing her best gender-flipped Ray Winstone impression as Goldilocks, especially with the real Winstone himself voicing one of the three bears (alongside Olivia Colman and Samson Kayo), while John Mulaney made Horner into an absolute bastard who I couldn't wait to see get his well-deserved comeuppance. At first glance, with three separate groups of characters all racing for the Wishing Star, this film can feel sprawling, and yet it always manages to tie these three stories together in a way that feels organic.
The key to doing this was the Wolf. From the moment we're introduced to him, he's presented as a metaphorical representation of death itself, an impossibly skilled fighter who trounces and nearly kills Puss in their first encounter and who is seemingly unstoppable from that point onward, every meeting he has with Puss feeling like it could be their last. The film's comedy stops dead cold whenever the whistling announcing his arrival starts up, Wagner Moura's performance lending him an almost demonic menace without going over-the-top into cackling supervillainy. He is one of the best villains I've seen in any animated film in a long while, a no-nonsense monster whose evil combines the most terrifying elements of an unstoppable force of nature and somebody who hates you personally, the closest thing that a family film could come to an outright slasher movie villain. There have been many jokes made about this film having one of the most realistic depictions of a panic attack in any animated film, but watching it, it was no joke: I understood immediately how this guy completely disarmed Puss' suave, arrogant demeanor and left him a trembling wreck running for his life. The Wolf wasn't just scary, he was a perfect villain for Puss, a representation of how his wasted life is finally catching up with him, and watching Puss reach a place where he can finally confront the Wolf and turn the tables on him was immeasurably satisfying.
From this, we get a fairly simple moral that largely boils down to a celebration of living life to the fullest rather than either wasting it on hedonism or remaining stuck in an idealized past. It's nothing revolutionary, but not only is it exactly the kind of thing that the fairy tales this movie is sending up have long embraced, it's well-told enough that I fully bought into it. If the original Shrek was a deconstructive parody of fairy tales that sent up their moral messages while offering a few of its own, then this film serves largely as a more faithful, straightforward throwback to them, amped up with a swashbuckling action/adventure plot and some jokes for the parents but otherwise falling squarely within the modern, post-Kung Fu Panda DreamWorks wheelhouse.
The Bottom Line
It's a very straightforward movie once you get past the stylish animation, but hardly to a fault, as it's still a riotous, heartfelt, and just plain awesome ride that delivers exactly where it counts and doesn't overstay its welcome. Easily one of the best family films of the last ten years.

Concerning dragons: So, dragons can turn into a full humanoid form with its own stats / equipment / class levels. Kazavon has/had a dragon form with four Fighter levels and a human form at Fighter 20, and I think Terendelev in the WotR game is like Paladin 16 since I can't find any stats for her in my books. Are there any guidelines or rules or conventions to what a dragon has from its humanoid form vs its true form? Levels? The effects of any equipment it might be carrying (it might not need swords or armor but a +5 Resistance Bonus from a cloak, or permanent Resist Energy 30 would be pretty sweet no matter what)? Or is it purely up to the GM to decide?
because I was curious myself: according to Dragons Revisited, pg. 51, Terendelev is an Ancient Silver Dragon, and her mention in Wrath of the Righteous: The Worldwound Incursion doesn't mention any class levels. The other shoo-in for class levels I could think of, the Gold Dragon Mengkare, has no class levels mentioned in any source, and by the time he shows up in Age of Ashes, the editions had shifted and discerning if he has any class levels has become impossible.
Looking up Kazavon, his statistics found in Curse of the Crimson Throne suggests his human self is almost an entirely separate entity from his draconic self; killing the former reveals the fully-powered latter without doing the latter any harm, unlike how shapeshifting normally works in Pathfinder. His human shape doesn't actually have class levels, but it does for some reason have different ability scores. According to his rules for Change Shape, this is a unique ability granted to him by his god.
The only dragon I know off the top of my head with class levels is the Red Dragon Aashaq, who's a 7th level Cleric of Dahak in addition to her already titanic stats. She hasn't been blessed like Kazavon has, presumably because Dahak would think a human form is useless. I believe this firmly puts it in the realm of "GM gets to decide," or the storyline gets to give them whatever they feel like. But since the Dragon creature type has the largest available hit dice (d12), maximum BAB, maximum saves, near-maximum skill points per HD with an enormous spread of 'class' skills, proficiency with all simple weapons plus specific weapons depending on their breed, AND innate spellcasting power that scales with their age category, a shapeshifted dragon can convincingly masquerade as a HUGE number of different classes without actually having any class levels! Any other class levels on top of that just add to whatever illusion they're trying to project and feel unnecessary unless you're trying to give them abilities they can't already emulate, such as those available to Druids, Warpriests, Bards, Alchemists, et cetera.
If you want to give your dragons class levels but really want to futz with how those classes interact with the dragon's alternate forms, the only real rules are the ones you decide to make... though, as written, they retain whatever powers they could as defined by the Polymorph/Transmutation rules.

It’s always amusing when people from offbeat different places attach on to sports, no matter how good or bad (usually bad) they may be, just for pure love of the game.
True stories like these have become fodder for Hollywood in the past. For example, there was the Jamaican Bobsled team, an oddball group who became something of an international sensation when they competed in the Winter Olympics starting in 1988. It was such an odd idea – where could they learn the bobsled in the tropics of Jamaica? – that it caught the attention of the world and was eventually turned into the popular 1993 feel-good comedy Cool Runnings with John Candy. Of course, they weren’t great at the sport, but they got better over the years, eventually even getting a gold medal in 2000.
Then there was Eddie the Eagle – the first British ski jumper to compete in the Olympics. (Oddly, he also started in the 1988 Winter Olympics – what was going on in Calgary that year?) He also had little actual talent for the sport – he finished last in both competitions he competed in – but his regular guy enthusiasm made him a bit of a pop culture icon briefly. His story was also turned into a film, the 2016 film Eddie the Eagle starring Taron Egerton.
And now, we have the American Samoan national football (soccer) squad. They were long considered one of the weakest teams on the circuit, including losing a game to Australia by an all-time record score of futility, 31-0.
It seems like a natural fit for Taika Waititi to downshift a bit. It feels like a return to his roots after several years in the Hollywood grind – low-key early New Zealand oddball comic charmers like Eagle vs. Shark and Hunt For the Wilderpeople.
Based upon a 2014 documentary about the team, Next Goal Wins makes a nice palate cleanser for the filmmaker after helming two bombastic Thor films (only one really successfully) and making the surreal comic art film Jo Jo Rabbit.
Not that there is all that much to the story of Next Goal Wins – but it is a simple (and yet eccentric, because Waititi couldn’t be anything else) bit of formula filmmaking. This film is not looking to rule the box office (like, say Thor: Ragnarök) or to make a run at Oscar gold (like Jo Jo Rabbit). It’s just trying to be a fun diversion.
The film sort of plays up the football team’s ineptitude and small-time roots. The film often says that the team had never scored a goal and their only real wish was to score at least once – but they scored a goal in their first game in 1983, which was about 38 years before this film takes place in 2011. (And undoubtedly, they scored at least some in the decades between. In fact, apparently, they even won at least one game in the years before this film takes place.) Perhaps they meant in that season…. But they were historically bad. Of that, no one will argue.
Their savior – or sort of – might be Thomas Rongen (Fassbender). Rongen is an American coach and scout who himself needs some salvation – his daughter died recently in an accident, he was separated from his wife (Moss), he was drinking way too much and had become completely jaded. His problems multiplied to the point where he was given an ultimatum – go down to American Samoa and coach their team, or never work in the sport again.
Thus starts a typical fish out of water comedy, in which the hard-headed and driven new coach has to learn to deal with the more laid-back players and customs of American Samoa. If you have any question what will eventually happen then you haven’t seen a sports film in recent decades. However, the culture clash and eccentric characters keep everything interesting and funny.
Sometimes a team – or a movie – doesn’t have to go to a championship to become big winners. Sometimes they just need to score some goals. Next Goal Wins will never become a beloved classic sports tale, but damned if they don’t score some goals.

What’s your favorite movie?
Animated movies: Rise of the TMNT, 1980s Transformers: The Movie, and The Prince of Egypt!
Live action: Jojo Rabbit (rated R iirc) Monty Python and the Holy Grail, first 90s TMNT movie, original Rocky franchise (1976-1990, haven't seen Rocky Balboa or the Creed movies yet!), Lord of the Rings, and the original Star Wars trilogy. Rocky is my favorite old timey movie franchise!!
Rambling underneath:
I like a lot of older movies regarding live action because I genuinely adore old special effects and while CGI is impressive it's just... different? A lot of CGI nowadays, while incredibly impressive techology wise, feels kind of... unpolished? Less immersive? Idk, I see how actors interact with old timey special effects and make-up vs computer rendered models (esp regarding backgrounds/scenery) and it feels off. Less authentic. I hope that makes sense.
The live action TF movies actually do themselves a huge favor by making use of the fact these robots transform into cars (actual props actors can interact with) and also filming in real areas. Yes, that includes all of the live action TF movies, they did CGI right imo! Even if the writing and actual designs didn't always hit the mark.
I also just... adore puppets in movies? I really enjoy The Dark Crystal because of the puppetry, and I've been meaning to sit down and watch the JP movies. The craftsmanship and authenticity is just MWAH!!!
Another HUGE REASON is nostalgia! Not mine, not really, but my PARENTS'! When my aunt visited we binged the Rocky movies together and now I'll always associate that experience with Rocky! I like watching older stuff with my parents. :^)
I don't really talk about my other interests cuz I recognize I'm a fan-artist for... like.. kid friendly media and a lot of my other interests are adult-oriented, and while a lot of my followers and mutuals are adults, some are also 15-17 years old lol.
That being said I like early Game of Thrones since a lot of the CGI was really just the dragons, that's a recent one. I enjoy the Vikings TV series, solely because it lets me infodump about history and culture... It's inaccurate in some places, accurate in others, and I like infodumping because I have the history and mythology flavor of autism. I like old sitcoms like The Golden Girls and Reba! Oh, I also like Buffy The Vampire Slayer! Gilmore Girls is also fun to watch.
I don't remember the ratings for all of these minus GoT and Vikings, but like... I'd say PG-13? Roughly? GoT and Vikings are def R-rated, kiddos.

been thinking abt pokemon a lot lately (dylan bore a rant of all my gripes and complaints the other day. hi dylan) and now that i have gotten all my pains out of the way i am thinking about all the things i have liked about pokemon recently! while gen 4 with a dash of 5 is the closest thing we’ll get to horror in a pokemon game (distortion world, arceus events, cosmic unraveling, ghetsis’ whole thing, haunted houses - though sun/moon def gave em a run for their money with the whole cosmic horror everything, and XY with the whole genocide thing but they barely got into the meat of it and bc there wasn’t a Z there wasn’t an opportunity to fine tune things :/), PLA got really close to that feeling, which i adored! froslass sidequest, being straight up told you’ll get exiled and die if you can’t pull your weight in the field, dialga/palkia getting corrupted, dialga/palkia being worshipped as gods and psychically communing with their chosen, volo pulling a fast one on us with giratina coming out of nowhere to wreck our shit, the erratic and tense nature and soundtrack of the arceus fight - it’s rad as hell and getting into the potential guts of the pokemon world is what i live for, and im glad we got into it. (i am unsure if we’ll get that in SV. so far it has a very cheery vibe to it so i do not hold out hope)
anyways writing this post just to get my thoughts out into the world. i really hope they decide to bite the bullet (as nintendo would probably see it, as it would be sacrificing that E for Everyone rating. pg-13 at least) and make a horror-esque pokemon game. some real legend of zelda: twilight princess shit. subnautica “we didn’t intend to make a horror game but it sure did come out fecking terrifying” shit. pokemon infinity fangame shit.
something modern day, but similar to PLA’s theme of “this is a wild land that is largely untamed and hazardous to your health” and exploration/mapping out a region (that is in my head, somewhere also cold. norway based? northern europe? maybe even extending to the hostile arctic, something that makes you appreciate just how civilized/terraformed/domesticated the rest of the main game regions are). starting areas that are safe, of course, but nearby areas are suddenly host to aggressive pokemon guaranteed to be stronger than yours. large stretches of land that are devoid of any/little indication of human life - a land that once held human life, but now only holds you (like the poems you can dig up with ursaluna, implied to be written by cogita about the exodus of the celestic people). the eeriest ambient music and landscape you’ve ever heard and seen. MASSIVE lord avalugg type pokemon that appear both in cutscenes and in the overworld that you have to navigate around (insert shadow of the colossus easter egg here). certain resources are rare to come by, even as you get stronger. there are inexplicably haunted locations, places where you hear echoes of screams and half-second glimpses of glowing eyes in the shadows. you trek out for a nighttime expedition and something stalks you through the trees, only coming closer when your camera is faced away from it (not your avatar, your camera). something eldritch is wandering this land, wandering the sky, the sea, and pray to arceus it doesn’t notice you. pray to god you never learn more about it (SWSH could’ve done this with Eternatus’ design, but i feel SWSH dropped the ball on a lot of things, so). think this kind of thing. this.
even for something like this tho, it’d have to be a different engine than the ones we’re familiar with - the landscape would have to have so many more actions cues (how pokemon behave and navigate the landscape), but it doesn’t feel impossible. pokemon colosseum came out during gen 3? the first 3d pokemon games i think with a remarkably darker storyline and threat with a kickass final battle vs shadow lugia. something similar with botw-level support and care w twilight princess art direction would be *chef’s kiss*

2022 Fanfic Year Wrap Up Meme
Number of Fics: 45 Number of Unique Fandoms: 6* (ASOIAF, GoT, HOTD, Harry Potter, War and Peace,  Romeo and Juliet) Number of Unique Pairings: 30 (repeat ships: Throbb [4], Tris/Theon [4], Jaime/Cersei [2])** Total Number of Words: 102,105
*Counting ASOIAF, GoT and HOTD as different fandoms because that’s kind of how I’ve been doing it when tagging and stuff. Including F&B into ASOIAF here. I only had 1 fic for it anyway. **Only counting ships which were primarily featured as a focus of the story. Often times ships would hover in the background but weren’t counted. # Gen: 16 # Het: 15 # Slash: 18 # Fem: 5 *Some stories fall into more than one category.
# PG: 24 # PG-13: 16 # R: 2 # NC-17/Explicit: 3
Looking back, did you write more fics than you thought you would this year, less than you thought, or about what you predicted?. Feels like more, honestly. I would have not thought I’d write as much as I ended up writing for Battleship. (Although, looking at last year’s meme…apparently I wrote around 7k* more in wordcount last year, though 15 fics less. Which I guess is the effect of writing a lot of short fics for Battleship but not having Heart Attack in the fall/not until spring this round. And then things like Like Northern Stars because ~3k longer than my longest fic this year and my longest non-10k-exchange fic this year being shorter than the same for last year (roughly 9k vs 13k). Interesting.) (*Technically ~5k since I’m not counting the OrigFic here but it did take up writing space.)
Where did you publish/archive your stories? AO3 with some cross-posting to Tumblr. What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January? *sigh* The battleship porn – both the tentacles and the threesome. Also never thought I’d write Regulus/Sirius or Jily. And yet. Did you take any writing risks this year? *Gestures vaguely at like half of what I wrote for Battleship* Do you have any writing goals for the new year? Honestly, I’d like to work on some of the longer/more involved ideas that I have but feel like there’s never the time for. What’s your favorite story this year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you the happiest. Real hard to pick from the top 3...but probably Love's Heavy Burden. Okay, NOW your most popular story? Going by kudos, The Price of Loyalty. Story of yours most underappreciated by the universe, in your opinion? Love’s Heavy Burden. Story that could have been better?
There’s always a bunch, and I feel like this year the format of Battleship requiring both speed and a lot of stretching out the comfort zone produced a few mediocre results. Most fun story to write? You know I’m not sure… Maybe Shelter In The Storm? Story with single sweetest moment? There were a few mostly-fluff fics and I’m not sure which one of them wins out. I mean, something like Daytrip is all fluff and comfort really!
The story that made you cry? I think The Price of Loyalty came closest.
Most “holy crap, that’s wrong, even for you” story? *sigh* The tentacles ones. (Not that “for me” is a very high bar, mind, lol.) Sexiest story? Ah, no idea, but I’d like to think it’s A New Peace. Hardest story to write There were a few lol. (What you won’t do for your Battleship team xD Although part of me wants to say it’s the fic I wrote for the Theon Exchange lol.)
Easiest story to write? Victory, but only because it was largely repurposed from a scrap scene I already had sitting around. Most unintentionally telling story *shrug* I really never know how to answer this one lol. Story you haven’t yet written, but intend to Ahaha you know the throbb/reyne AU I mentioned last year? Still that one *lolsob*

Trollstopia Blindblogging: episode 6A - Girl’s Night
This is very much a Val episode, which makes it a solid 3.5 by default. But the song in this is boppin, it’s got some really cute moments, and freaking PICK JAGGER bumps it up to a 4 for sure. Demo is Valid and So is Val and Poppy scares me more with every episode
You know I occasionally spend time thinking about the different relationship with music Trolls have in the movie continuity vs the cartoon. How, with the exception of “Get Back Up Again”, most movie song breaks appear to be already established work being recited both in canon and in real life or at the very least are vague enough to be reperformed in the future, while in the cartoon they burst into song about their very, very specific circumstance. Movie song breaks are more about the vibe, the feeling of the scene, while in the cartoon it’s all very literal. I think a lot of the cultural implications of previously written and composed music vs original work in the different tribes, where it’s appropriate and how it’s viewed. I think a lot about the music I wish we could see in the cartoon if copywrite laws weren't a burning stranglehold of a hellscape and by whom. That being said....
This is ladies' night, and the feelings right. This is ladies' night, oh what a night.
Like, given how Val is supposed to be an expy of Barb, I expected her to be at least a little bit more Tsundere over Poppy but... she really actually doesn’t like Poppy does she?
Ok I can’t blame Poppy for not being able to take “ugh” for an answer. There’s some coding that she was a highly indulged child, raised to be an authority figure who has self assigned everyone’s happiness as part of her job as said authority figure, and the one Troll for a very long time they she knew who was exceptionally negative compared to her cohort turned out in the end to be largely performative and needed/still needs aggressively persistent approaches to get him to attempt new things that he tends to largely enjoy at the end. Poppy has been tailor made to not take no for an answer. She is an incredibly flawed product of her upraising and I adore her for it. Still a very yikes on trikes look tho.
BY THE POWER OF GREYSKULL
on the one hand that overly cheerful giggle as her scissors slowly went towards the paper was terrifying. On the other hand, Val, same. UGH
“Next thing you know, we’ll be talking about our feelings” Val says, draped on a comfortable couch with her Manager, talking about her feelings.
Ok they of course went in a really silly direction but the idea of Val feeling like she’s “Loosing her Edge” is a legit concern that could have been addressed in a very interesting way. That, as a migrant in a new, melting pot city, the idea of getting swept along and loosing your own culture is a very real concern of migrants across the world. Like that’s a legit issue people have. That could have been talked about.
Alternatively though, they could still potentially talk about Troll constants, and learning to explore and incorporate new aspects of yourself without feeling like loosing a core aspect of your personality. That is also a conversation to be had. I doubt we will have that conversation. But we could.
“wanna mosh it over in the thinking pit?” I just about lost my mind that sentence was nonsense and it’s a hole in the ground full of trolls where you crowd surf I'm gonna die.
HOLY SHIT Girls, Girls, Girls! is a damn BOP! Like shocked the hell out of me. I knew it was coming but not that it would be so good. I’ve been pretty ambivalent towards the more Pop centered songs so far but no more excuses show, you can pull it off. hot damn. Between this and Right Trolls for the Job there’s hope for this soundtrack yet
“The next thing on our agenda iiiiiiiis.....” (me, only half joking “Panty Raid, Panty Raid, Panty Raid”) “Trolls Pranks!” (oh god is this the PG version of Panty raid?)
Calling it now. Wimpy not actual pranks that disappoint Val and she has to show them how to do it
ok no actually this is super cute
Why is Poppy so threatening?
I mean I’m sorry I don’t quiiiiiiite trust this production team enough to think that it’s the application of Val’s insecurities projected onto Poppy’s good intentions. Which would be cool. But legit Poppy has been incredibly threatening this series and I kinda dig it
Val, waving her arms out the door and screaming at the top of her lungs: “SIGNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL” Demo: *gasp* “The signal!”
That got me
Ok but what a great friend he is, sitting in a bush, awake, alone, all night, on the off chance that Val might become uncomfortable enough to need an out.
I want to call Demo out but I myself am absolutly that bitch. Head empty, trust the process, no thoughts under pressure.
PICK JAGGER
PICK. JAGGER.
I’M GONNA FUCKING PISS
my back is out so bad and I can’t stop laughing and it hurts so much but
Pick Jagger
Oh my fucking god that little finger twine hand hold cheek smoosh between Val and Demo is legit the cutest fucking thing. Shippy or not normalize me some physicals affection
Demo Yes!
Ok yea that’s a pretty good lesson. Poppy can’t possibly cater this even in such a way that Val is going to feel safe. It’s just a natural byproduct of what they are doing. So she’s going to leave her alone about it, but keep the invitation open. And while learning to take a no is a very good lesson, that it’s Val who need to evaluate and decide where taking risks despite being afraid is worth it, which is a valuable skill to cultivate. Finding and defining places where you are willing to be venerable in the risk of gaining experiences. The onus is on both sides for her to be able to comfortably mingle, not just on Poppy, and not just on Val. Setting and respecting boundaries while recognizing that you need to explore outside those boundaries
Demo you are 100% Valid and I love you more by the Minute. What an absolute cinnamon bun
little bull snort made of skulls
Val likes flavor berry lip gloss. My inner lesbian knows exactly how she figured that out wink wonk.
GIRLS NIIIIIIIGHT!

How to Understand the Differences Between PGDM and MBA
In management education, two prominent pathways stand out: PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management) and MBA (Master of Business Administration). While both offer avenues for professional growth and career advancement, understanding the nuances between them is crucial for aspiring students.
Here, we'll delve into the distinctions between PGDM and MBA to help you make an informed decision about your academic journey.
PGDM vs MBA (Diploma vs Degree)
PGDM: PGDM, or Post Graduate Diploma in Management, is a specialized program that emphasizes practical learning and industry-specific skills. Unlike an MBA, which is a degree conferred by universities, a PGDM is offered by autonomous institutions and management schools. This autonomy allows PGDM programs to adapt swiftly to changing industry demands and incorporate the latest trends and practices into their curriculum. They are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and focus on industry-oriented curriculum development.
MBA: MBA, or Master of Business Administration, is typically offered by universities and follows a more traditional academic structure. While MBA programs provide a comprehensive understanding of business principles and theories, they may sometimes lack the agility and industry relevance that PGDM programs offer.
Difference between MBA and PGDM
Accreditation: PGDM programs are offered by autonomous institutions and are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). On the other hand, MBA programs are typically affiliated with universities.
Curriculum Flexibility: PGDM programs offer more flexibility in curriculum design, allowing institutions to tailor their courses according to industry demands. MBA programs, being university-affiliated, follow a more standardized curriculum.
Industry Relevance: PGDM programs are renowned for their focus on practical skills and industry exposure. They often collaborate closely with corporate partners, offering internships, projects, and guest lectures. MBA programs may also emphasize practical skills but tend to have a more academic focus.
Specializations: PGDM programs offer a wide range of specializations, allowing students to choose a field that aligns with their interests and career goals. MBA programs may offer specializations too, but the options could be more limited.
Let’s see how the MBA and PGDM are similar
When comparing MBA and PGDM programs, it's essential to note their common ground:
Core Business Education: Both provide a solid foundation in business fundamentals like finance, marketing, and operations.
Leadership Development: Emphasis on cultivating strong leadership and management skills through coursework and practical exercises.
Networking: Opportunities to connect with industry professionals, alumni, and peers, fostering valuable relationships.
Hands-on Experience: Incorporation of internships or experiential learning to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios.
Global Perspective: Exposure to international experiences, enhancing cross-cultural competencies for success in the global marketplace.
The Career Impact of MBA and PGDM Programs
Both MBA and PGDM programs offer invaluable benefits for your career:
Enhanced Skill Set: Gain practical skills and knowledge in various areas of business management.
Expanded Network: Connect with industry professionals, mentors, and alumni for job opportunities and collaborations.
Career Advancement: Increase your credibility and marketability for leadership roles and career progression.
Specialization Opportunities: Tailor your studies to match your career interests and goals.
Global Perspective: Gain insights into global markets and trends through international exposure.
MBA and PGDM programs serve as catalysts for personal and professional growth, empowering you to succeed in today's competitive business world.
Reasons to Pursue PGDM:
Industry-Relevant Skills: PGDM programs are designed to equip students with skills that are directly applicable in today’s dynamic business environment.
Experiential Learning: Through internships, projects, and industry interactions, PGDM students gain hands-on experience and build valuable networks within the corporate sector.
Customized Specializations: With a plethora of specialization options, PGDM allows students to delve deeper into their areas of interest and carve a niche for themselves.
Entrepreneurial Focus: Many PGDM programs foster an entrepreneurial mindset, encouraging students to explore innovative ideas and venture into startups and business incubation.
Now, you might be wondering, which path is right for you. If you're seeking a dynamic, industry-relevant curriculum with opportunities for hands-on learning and specialization, PGDM could be the perfect fit for you. And if you're ready to embark on this exciting journey, look no further than IILM Academy of Higher Learning, Lucknow.
IILM Academy of Higher Learning, Lucknow, part of the esteemed IILM group, has been a pioneer in management education since its establishment in 2004. With its two-year full-time PGDM and PGDM (Financial Management) programs approved by AICTE, Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, IILM Lucknow offers a transformative learning experience designed to groom future leaders for the corporate world.
So, if you're ready to take the next step towards a rewarding career in management, we invite you to explore the PGDM programs at IILM Lucknow. Visit our website to learn more and begin your journey towards success.

'Typically when two major movies go head-to-head at the box office, they're viewed as competitors. But this weekend's box office numbers prove that #Barbenheimer — the pairing of Greta Gerwig's pink-drenched "Barbie" movie and Christopher Nolan's sobering, apocalyptic, three-hour biographical thriller "Oppenheimer" — isn't just an online meme. It has escaped into the real world, as I learned for myself when I went to book tickets for both and found myself struggling to find screenings that weren't already sold out.
That experience is reflected in the box office numbers. According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Barbie" is on track for an incredible $155 million opening weekend. If it hits that number, it would set a new record for the biggest box office debut for movie from a female director (currently held by the $153 million opening weekend for "Captain Marvel," which was directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck). Meanwhile, "Oppenheimer" is set to gross $77 million in its debut — the biggest opening for a Nolan movie since 2012's "The Dark Knight Rises." As THR notes, this is the first time in history that a box office weekend has seen one movie open north of $100 million, and another open north of $50 million.
Collectively, the two movies have helped deliver the biggest domestic box office weekend since the pandemic began, with Deadline estimating $308 million in ticket sales Friday-to-Sunday. The record was previously held by Dec. 17-19, 2021, when "Spider-Man: No Way Home" arrived in theaters and propelled the weekend total to $282.9 million.
Both "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" have far outstripped earlier expectations. In our box office breakdown last week, we noted that analysts initially had "Barbie" pegged for an $80 million opening weekend, before later updating that estimate to $115-155 million. "Oppenheimer" was predicted to gross $40-57 million this weekend, and has now pulled out far ahead of even the top estimates. At the risk of giving Ryan Gosling's Ken a new reason to be jealous, "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" are a true box office power couple.
Greater than the sum of their parts
While "Barbie" may be on track for an opening weekend double the size of "Oppenheimer," it would be a misrepresentation to say that Gerwig's movie "beat" Nolan's at the box office. These movies were never competing on a level field, and weren't intentionally competing for the same audience: one is a PG-13 comedy with musical numbers and neon yellow rollerblades, and the other is an R-rated biographical drama, partly in black-and-white, scrutinizing the psychology of the man who became known as the father of the atomic bomb. The very fact that they're so different is what made them so appealing as a double feature, and it's reasonable to speculate that neither would have had such enormously successful openings without the oddball and apparently grassroots phenomenon of #Barbenheimer.
Having a diverse array of options has proven vital to the recovery of movie theaters in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. We saw this at the start of the year, when sci-fi epic "Avatar: The Last Airbender" and tech horror "M3GAN" were king and queen of the box office, and "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish" lingered in the top five for 10 consecutive weekends. This historic joint opening for "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" speaks to an audience craving for movies that are wildly different, after years of mind-numbing "Marvel vs. DC" debate. (Both Marvel and DC movies, incidentally, have seemingly become afflicted by superhero fatigue).
Given the characterization of Barbenheimer weekend as a cinematic event, it will be interesting to see how well the two movies hold next week. Mammoth openings are often followed by sharp drop-offs, but "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" both received A grades from CinemaScore based on audience polling, and they currently have Rotten Tomatoes scores of 90% and 93%, respectively, so word of mouth could keep the momentum up. One thing's for sure: these two have some very strong chemistry.'
