They fall into a new routine when they move into their house.
Most of it centres around Liam, of course. Six o’clock rolls around and they bathe him, a competition to see who can make him giggle more as they splash the water around him. Once he is wrapped up in his towel, they share the cuddles as the other reads him a bedtime story, before dressing him in one of his many onesies and settling him in his crib.
Their evenings are spent tidying and doing laundry and making lists – what some people would find mundane, but fills Maya with happiness that she gets to do this, when she so nearly lost it all. On the nights when there are no chores to do, they pour over the plans drawn up by their architect, choosing what kind of open plan kitchen-diner they want, whether the walls should be tiled or painted, and what kind of colour scheme they want.
Sleep is still interrupted by Liam’s night-time feed for now, although Carina is convinced he will soon start to ween himself off them. Maya is the first out of bed on the nights she is home, knowing that Carina has to carry the burden alone during her night shifts.
Liam never wakes early, a good sleeper like his mamma, and Maya doesn’t rush out of the door for an early morning run any more, knowing that the quiet hour between 6.00am and 7.00am is typically reserved for just the two of them, before Liam’s whimpers drag them out of bed.
Their mornings feel more frantic these days. Their house, nestled within a small family-orientated community on east side of Seattle, is a fifteen minute commute into the city on a good day, usually longer – not taking into account the diversion they do when Liam is spending the day with Peggy and Dayna.
Their favourite mornings are the days when their work patterns align and neither one of them has to work. They bring Liam into bed with them, watching as their comforter becomes a playground for his toys and books and music.
On days like today, when Carina is the only one of them heading to work, Maya watches from the bed as Carina sits at her new vanity unit to fix her hair and apply her make-up, with Liam on her lap as she soaks up his cuddles before she has to leave. Maya listens as Carina chats away to him in Italian, determined that he will learn her native language as he grows up. She smiles as Liam looks up at his mamma with adoration, enraptured by her voice, his little hands grasping her dark brown hair. She can’t blame him, Maya is just as enamoured by her wife.
“Amelia said she would babysit on Friday night,” Carina says, interrupting her thoughts. “I thought we could try out the new Korean place by the water, what do you think?”
“Sounds perfect,” Maya says with a smile. “Do you think she’d want to have Liam overnight too?”
A wiggle of her eyebrows tells Carina what she is thinking and she watches as Carina’s chest rumbles with laughter, eliciting a giggle from Liam too.
“Maybe next time.”
Maya intends to hold her to that. A ping from the bedside table distracts her and she reaches for her phone, pulling up a message from Andy. Her heart sinks when she reads it. The wildfires that they thought were receding have grown stronger, making their way towards Seattle with vengeance and Maya is pretty sure it will only be a couple of days before 19 is called out to assist in the efforts to contain it.
She thinks back to the wildfires in Los Angeles that they fought a few years ago. It was a time she doesn’t think of often these days: when Sullivan was captain and the team was grieving the loss of Ripley; when Andy had only just forgiven her for hooking up with Jack and Travis was in a police cell for getting into a fight at Joe’s.
When Pruitt was alive. And Dean. And Ryan.
Before Carina, when talk of marriage and babies would have made Maya scoff and laugh, brushing it off as something that other people did.
Before she came to terms with the traumas of her past, when she believed in her father’s lesson to embrace the pain and found comfort in the clouds.
Before her priorities shifted and she realised what was truly important to her.
It feels like a lifetime ago, yet the memories remain vivid. She remembers the way her skin felt sticky and hot, and how her lungs filled with smoke, and the panic she felt when Andy and Sullivan were lost outside as the flames took over the house they were seeking shelter in. It was a time when a hero’s death didn’t scare her the way it does now, the fear of leaving Carina and Liam and the possibility of a baby growing in her wife’s belly constantly on her mind.
She shakes it off, refusing to let it plague her.
“I was going to pick up tickets for the zoo for next weekend,” she says instead. “I thought Liam might like to see the lions and tigers, since he loves watching next door’s cat so much.”
They both know he’s too young for the experience but they have a pact to make as many happy memories as possible, to fill photobooks to show him when he is older.
Carina smiles. “I love that idea.”
Maya swings her legs out of bed and pads across the room, pulling out some clean clothes from the dresser.
“I’m gonna jump in the shower before you head out.”
As she passes them, she runs her finger across Liam’s cheek, grinning when he reaches out to wrap his tiny fingers around it. She lets him hold it as she dips her head and draws Carina into a kiss, pressing her lips hard against Carina’s mouth, as if trying to leave an imprint.
“I thought I’d have another go at making lasagna for dinner,” she says when she pulls back.
“Hmm, should I tell Teddy that I’ll be sick tomorrow?” Carina teases.
Maya pokes her shoulder playfully as she pretends to be offended. “Ha ha.”
She is half way into the bathroom when Carina calls out her name, her question making Maya pause in the doorway.
“Maya? Every morning you kiss my forehead before I leave for work, why was it my lips today?”
Carina is looking at her with such softness that Maya feels her stomach flip. She doesn’t want to tell her about the wildfires, not yet; doesn’t want to burst this bubble they are living in. She gives a little shrug instead.
“Because I wanted to. Because your lips are my favourite thing to kiss.”
She looks at the small boy in Carina’s arms.
“Sorry Liam.”
He doesn’t look bothered, more interested in fitting his small fist into his mouth. When she looks up, Carina is holding out her free hand, encouraging Maya closer.
“Then you should come back and kiss them again.”
Maya’s smile widens and she complies willingly, dropping her clothes on the bed before accepting Carina’s outstretched hand, letting herself be pulled back into the cocoon of her family. She cups Carina’s face and kisses her again, feeling the soft moan that escapes from her wife as she runs her tongue over her bottom lip – another happy memory etched in her mind.

705 had the best action sequence in recent seasons. I love callbacks to the skyscraper fire and storage facility fire. Rewatching those scenes also reminded me of how different the show has become. It had more variety, and humor - even in tragedy. It was more character-driven, and had a better focus on team camaraderie and friendships - Dean/Jack, Maya/Andy and Vic/Travis ...
After Dean's passing, they really don't know what to do with Jack. Vic and Travis haven't had many substantial scenes. Maya and Andy were sort of besties in name only. There was a shift to focus more on captaincy race, SFD politics and darker issues w/o the necessary levity for balance. Let alone any breathing space for them to just hang out together. The inter-personal dynamics became more isolated and the characters became more one-dimensional to shoehorn the stories to serve the overall plots.
705 showed 5 women as impactful and effective first responders. Ross commanding the scene as chief; Andy directing the rescue efforts; Maya leading and supporting from her position; Vic taking control of a claustrophobic rescue situation giving first aid n emotional guidance; Carina providing improvised professional medical care for accident victims on site.
I wish there was more follow-thru on the complexities of the characters sprinkled thru out the seasons... that the show had been more about friendships, esp female friendships and not rivalry... that they didn't make it a zero-sum game but allowed both Maya and Andy to thrive cos they are both leaders in their own way.
I wish Maya, Vic and Andy still hung out, even when their friendship evolved and Carina had joined them in their shenanigans before all she thought about was babies... that Carina hadn't just thought about and talked about babies.
I wish they hadn't structured the narrative to have a female chief put down a fellow female firefighter cos of a man.
Rewatching also reminded me of how good, just n meticulous Ripley was as a chief. I can't get behind the way they are framing Ross as the best chief of Seattle, almost like just cos she's a woman. As a woman, she could have been more empathetic towards the sexism women faced n even if she didn't lift them up, at least don't push them down. She toed the line n was part of the system until it didn't serve her. Only then she called out sexism when she was caught red-handed at breaking the rules she claimed was of the upmost importance to uphold no matter what, as a good soldier.
The way Maya broke the rules to save a dying kid, accepted demotion to keep 19 together, but got buried for supporting BLM, was not giving a proper hearing, even when she was a good captain. She got no support from the team and was basically told to suck it up. The way Ross broke the rules to have a sexual relationship with an ex she promoted, but the whole team was in full support of her, cos "love is love", and one had to do what it took to be whole human beings...?
After being biased against Maya, and giving Beckett the benefit of the doubt despite the rumors of his almost-demotions. Ross respected him, give him many chances despite his poor attitude n performance n complaints against him...
In a way, Ross and Sullivan giving Beckett empathy w/o holding him accountable enabled his addiction and spiral. Also, both holding Maya accountable w/o empathy led to her mental and physical breakdown. They should have facilitated Beckett's therapy, not Maya's abuse.
Addiction can be substance-based or behavioral. Beckett was never sober b4 704. Maya's bottle was not the sole reason for his drinking. Drinking was his coping mechanism (n apparently bullying too). Maya coped with physical assertion, like how she pushed herself to her limits under Lane's abuse.
Ultimately what they did or didn't do reflect on who they were as people. They all made mistakes. Only Maya truly owned up and made amends. The way Ross didn't trust Maya when she handed her the photo mirrored Beckett's distrust. I interpreted it as from Ross's perspective, she would have an angle using the photo for her adv if she were Maya, so she questioned if Maya did. Beckett did not trust Maya cos he knew the team did not trust him as captain having not gained respect or trust. In part also maybe due to their guilty conscience of what they did to Maya and ashamed of their own abuse of power? Possibly as subtle subtext?
When Ross wanted both her job and her relationship and was afraid that Sullivan would make her play small cos in her careers men had made her feel small n saw her as a chess piece. Yet, she, together with the men, saw Maya as a chess piece n made her feel so small...

Original content: Station 19 (2018) - a Greys Anatomy spin off
Ship info: Station 19 is a Greys Anatomy spin off show about a group of firefighters at fire station 19. Maya Bishop is a firefighter at station 19 who later becomes Captain of station 19. Carina DeLuca is a doctor at Grey Sloan hospital, and they meet when they both go for drinks at Joe’s – a bar near the hospital.
They begin their relationship, and it is quickly interrupted by the covid 19 pandemic. After being apart for so long they decide to move in together which is a big step in their relationship and leaves Maya, who before this relationship seemingly has commitment issues, quite frenzied. However, Maya accepts this change in their relationship just before another hurdle comes their way. Carina is going to be deported and so she is going back to Italy and going to have to work as a doctor there. However, when Carina is packing to leave Maya suggest the idea of marriage which Carina quickly turns down. They then get into a discussion about how they should’ve known by now that Maya wants to get married whereas Carina doesn’t and that Carina wants children whereas Maya doesn’t. This lead to what seems to be the end of their relationship and Carina leaves for the airport.
Although we see Carina have a change of heart on the way to the airport and she turns around and finds Maya where she proposes to her in front of their friends. They then have a beautiful small wedding which is somewhat ruined by Maya finding out she is getting demoted from captain. Their relationship seems to still remain strong and after discussing it thoroughly they decide to try for a baby. They search for a sperm doner and start the process. However, Maya’s mental health starts to quickly decline and their relationship hits a rough patch when Maya starts pushing herself too hard at work and not coming home and Carina does things such as taking pregnancy tests without Maya present.
After Maya nearly dies by pushing herself too hard Carina decides to take a break from their relationship to give them both space and give Maya a chance to work on her problems. Maya who is hurt by the prospect of losing Carina starts to put work into getting better by doing therapy and taking a step back from work and even learning how to cook. She then starts to try and win Carina back by trying to ask her on a first date again. They go on the date and have a good time and then try to take things slow again. Although they both admit that they miss being together and start fixing their marriage and try to get back to a strong point. They even discuss the idea of them starting to try for children again.
Type of ship: Canon Queer
Whilst Maya and Carina have had their ups and downs – they took a break that nearly needed their marriage they still ended up back together and stronger. This is a testament to this show and the creators as none of the tropes usually associated with queer couples have been applied here. Both characters are still alive, and they are happily married to each other and trying for children. The same cannot be said for lots of other sapphic ships, canon or otherwise, in media. Again, they have had their downs but none of this is because or a result of them being in a same-sex relationship but rather due to mental health issues.
The fact that the creators of this show have shown the downs of a relationship as happens with many real-life relationships queer or otherwise is important. This is because it allows fans to have a canon queer relationship with flawed, real, multifaceted characters who make mistakes but ultimately learn from their mistakes both apart and together. Again, this is important because in some instances it could be easier to have the two characters split up but the creators do not let this happen which is major for the portrayal of queer women in media and to fans.

Have you ever thought to yourself: Yee howdy, I wish I could know what everyone thinks of my favorite character, and I also wish we could all definitively rank them in popularity based on the whims of the public? Then do I have the thing for you!
Right out the gate, it's time to vote for favorite characters. The votes for favorite NPC (human) and favorite NPC (other) will be running alongside each other, with the vote for NPC (other) starting a little later to make them both finish at the same time and end in an epic dual victory.
I have chosen to split them up because there's a lot of NPC's and we can expedite the process somewhat by having separate tournaments running alongside each other.
Humanoid creatures such as Pandorians residing in the circus will be counted as humans because that's how they choose to present and I will respect that.
Certain conditions apply regarding characters added to SSO just to host races, NPC's that are named but do not take part in quests, and characters from earlier games. these characters will not partake because the list is so. long. already.
Every poll will be accompanied by a picture and a brief description to refresh your memory, so don't worry if you can't remember them just by name! If you have any concerns or can't see your favorite NPC anywhere, send a message or an ask.
The first NPC (human) tournamnet will take place over 3 sessions of 40 posts per week, because it's 120 posts and I don't want to overwhelm you with that many posts. Once we've narrowed it down to 60 favorites it will be split into 2 sessions, and once we've only got 30 contestants left, I'll post them all in one go until a winner is declared. That's also when the NPC (other) polls will be posted.

I like how they are trying to make the call interesting without using fire. I hope we don't come back to Crisis One.
Btw, these first responders had Crisis one training and they didn't know how to help Maya, who was having a panic attack. She helped herself cause what do you mean "We can lose our jobs" or whatever Travis what saying to her.
Vic needs to break up with Theo and get another storyline. He is getting too disrespectful and Vic is not calling him out.
Why Travis didn't end the live the moment he found the phone? I know is because they want him to give a speech and everything but make it make sense.
I was ready for Captain Andy, but Ross offering the position to her for not following orders and not respecting the rank it's insane to me. Mind you, the same reasons why she didn't give to Maya. That's weak writing right there. Everything she said applies to Maya, and She was saving a kid's life when she disobeyed orders.
Maya waited for permission to leave the truck and Ben just left. Theo and Vic conducted their own investigation when they should have been doing other stuff, but Maya is the one who is still getting punished.
Ross could have said that she sees how much Andy cares about the station and she is truly a leader; that's it. Because right now, the only two people who should be considered captain are Sullivan and Andy.
Maya's storyline right now is getting better and Theo is all over the place. But it was nasty that Andy suggested Sullivan for the position when Maya was treated unfairly by the department.
I know the next episodes are going to be annoying because they are going to start questioning Theo's captaincy. It happens every time. I happened with Jack, Andy, Sullivan, Maya, and Beckett.
I'm going to rant about Greys too, because the Deluca-Bishop family (Should have been Bishop-Deluca, btw) were in there.
Also, watching Carina being a doctor in her field was amazing. I know Stefania was happy that day. Krista should have promoted Stefania in Greys before moving her to Station because as much as I love Maya and Carina, she makes so much sense in Greys.
Apparently, some people were trashing Carina for being cold after Maya ran 10 blocks to get to her. I haven't seen anything but people do say crazy things sometimes.
What do they want Carina to do? Drop everything and leave with Maya? She was in doctor mode. She couldn't stop because she wouldn't be able to do her job. She was delivering a baby, and she was in shock when she saw Maya in there, and the way she said "Thank you for coming" was so soft
Also, they were in Greys, they couldn't advance their storyline there. I was impressed we got a scene at all. I was just wondering why they got Maya running around the hospital. She knows her wife's specialty so it's most likely she is in there.
Also, Thank you for having Maya in this uniform because it is my favorite, and she looks like x10000 hotter in this one.
Side note: I feel like Station needs to relax. Every episode is a lot of Drama. They should do silly episodes in dumb situations. Girls night. I don't know.

What if Maya IS offered her Captaincy back or at least the chance to apply for it again and she turns it down for Carina only for plot twist Carina to say that she doesn't want Maya to give up on it for her or something along those lines. That she sees Maya does put their family first. Ideally in the end Andy is Captain of 19 (her turn) but Maya is reinstated as a Captain rank so that she can possibly go for Battalion Chief next.
I would like that! That is the annoying thing about Maya's demotion though because now she probably won't get the captain rank back since it's going to end up going to Andy and that means Maya can't end up getting to the next step to Battalion Chief unless she were to transfer stations...I feel like this show wouldn't have Maya as a higher rank than Andy for longer than they already did anyway though so the idea of Maya being Battalion Chief while Andy is captain is nice but would probably never happen.

Sullivan
Sullivan rejected Andy at first and one of the reasons he did not promote Andy was to protect his job. He unilaterally announced their marriage despite Andy’s protest. She was even ambivalent about her decision to marry him. He decided he loved her so he could make decisions for her. It was all about what he wanted. Later, he thought Andy owed it to him to stay in the marriage cos he got sober for her. He presumed Andy looked down on him as a grunt and never paused to consider her issue with his moral ambiguity and ruthlessness. With Ross, he wanted to make it public at her expense, even wanting her to quit for him. He unilaterally applied for a job that would be hours away from Ross w/o telling her and wanted to out them. That seemed like an ultimatum and retaliation for not promoting him.
In his relationships, Sullivan only cared about himself, whether privately or professionally. Whether it was Ripley, Andy or Ross. When Dixon was gloating over Ripley’s death, he merely made a weak protest so as not to offend Dixon. With Ross, he only cared about what he was getting out of the relationship. He wanted Ross to make sacrifices for him. Despite his ambition and intense desire to be promoted, he asked Ross to quit for him. He very well knew how hard it was for her to get to where she was. When the secret of their affair was out, he was more concerned about his ego and that others gossiped about him. He knew that lying to Andy, his ex and closest friend at 19, was triggering for her and he lied to her anyway, while simultaneously telling Andy to stop helping Jack cos he lied about his whereabouts, not at all empathetic of Jack’s situation.
He told Maya that her demotion and her bullying by Beckett were entirely her own fault and that playing the political game to get her job back was stupid. When he was rightly stripped of his ranks, he was indignant and used many excuses to justify himself. His huge ego was bruised from his perceived slights from the team and Andy. He undermined Maya and was displeased that Maya made Andy acting captain. He undermined Andy and dismissed her feelings. Ben told him that it was her time, that being with a competent woman also meant allowing them the space to shine. He later tried to steal Maya's job. He convinced himself he did it for Andy, and to save 19. He then justified to Andy that she could not fault him for making moves to advance his career. He was unwilling to make sacrifices or change for Andy but kept pushing her to become more cunning like him.
Derek, Owen
Sullivan is so similar to Derek and Owen. As Owen bitterly and jealously named Meredith and Cristina the twisted sisters, I call them the toxic brothers. They were always playing the victim or martyr while being passive-aggressive or were straight up aggressive. They both loved ambitious and competent women but wanted them to become smaller to accommodate for their huge egos. During their breakups with Meredith and Cristina respectively, they dated other women who were more accommodating to them. But they dumped them cos they were too accommodating and they were bored.
Derek got into a relationship with Meredith w/o telling her he was still married. He perceived himself as the sole victim in his marriage to Addison. After reluctantly choosing to try again with Addison cos he didn’t want to be the bad guy, he slut-shamed Meredith. He blamed Meredith for tampering with his trials for Adele and he couldn't accept the possibility of Meredith surpassing him in Neuro so he banned her as a punishment. He thought his career was more important than Meredith’s and unilaterally decided they should move for his career. But one redeeming quality of Derek was his respect for Cristina's role in Meredith’s life. He made an effort to be on good terms with her and during her PTSD, he helped her cos she saved his life. And he did it on her terms and did not force her like Owen did.
From the start, Owen did not respect Cristina’s agency and rights as a woman. He insisted on a relationship with her when she clearly told him their incompatibility and that she would never want kids. He was jealous that she chose Teddy and Cardio over him and he tried to sabotage her mentorship under Teddy. He was displeased when Meredith saw right thru him and that he was no good for Cristina. He wanted to replace Meredith as her person yet instead of trying to understand who Cristina was, he imposed his idea of who he thought she should be on her. He pushed Cristina to marry him when she was suffering from PSTD. He was reluctantly there with Cristina when she had an abortion cos Meredith told him that Cristina was like Ellis and it would wreck her to have a kid. He later called her a murderer for her abortion. He was mad when she worked hard and found a way to save a dying man because he grew attached to his kid and wanted to adopt him. He dismissed her as a silly, immature woman who didn’t know what she wanted and would definitely come to her senses cos he could not fathom that not wanting kids was a thing.
He was very patriarchal and condescending towards his sister and his mum too. He always insisted he was right, no matter what. Burke loved Cristina enough to leave her cos he saw that they were very similar. He saw that she was losing her spark in changing herself to accommodate him. Cristina’s hesitation to marry him hurt but he respected her enough to still offer her his job, a rare opportunity she would love. Owen loved himself more and wanted to change her even if it destroyed her. He intentionally hurt her cos he felt hurt that she did not want to carry his kid. She had to physically remove herself to break his cycle of toxic abuse.

“Breathless in the Abyss”
In the vast, silent expanse of space, the Orion Station orbited a distant star, a beacon of human ingenuity. Its metallic hull gleamed like a silver jewel against the cosmic backdrop. Inside, a crew of six astronauts lived and worked, their lives a delicate ballet of routine and research.
But one night, as the crew lay in slumber, dreaming of blue skies and gravity’s gentle pull, disaster struck. A rogue asteroid, no bigger than a suitcase, collided with Orion. The impact was silent but violent, tearing a hole in the station’s side.
The station’s AI, Athena, immediately sounded the alarm. Red lights flashed, and sirens wailed, jolting the crew from their sleep. Captain Eva Ramirez was the first to her feet, her heart racing as she assessed the situation. The oxygen levels were dropping, the life support systems were failing, and the station was losing power.
“Everyone, suit up!” Eva commanded, her voice steady despite the fear that clawed at her insides. The crew scrambled into their spacesuits, their movements hurried but precise. They gathered in the main module, where Athena displayed the damage on the screen.
“We have less than two hours of oxygen left,” said Dr. Leo Zhang, the station’s engineer. His fingers flew over the control panel, trying to reroute power to the life support systems.
Eva’s mind raced. They needed to repair the station, but they also needed to find out what had hit them. “Athena, any visual on the asteroid?” she asked.
“No visual confirmation, Captain. The impact occurred on the blind side of the station,” Athena replied, her voice a calm contrast to the chaos.
Eva made a decision. “Leo, you’re with me. We’re going outside to patch the hole. Maya, you and Raj work on the life support. Hiro and Zara, try to get a visual on that asteroid. We need to know if there’s more coming.”
The crew split up, each member moving with purpose. Eva and Leo suited up for the spacewalk, their hands steady as they attached the safety tethers. The cold of space greeted them as they exited the airlock, the stars unblinking witnesses to their plight.
They worked in silence, the only sound the hiss of their breaths in the radio. Eva applied the sealant to the station’s skin, her movements precise. Leo held the patch in place, his eyes on the oxygen readout. Time was slipping away like sand through their fingers.
Meanwhile, inside, Maya and Raj fought with wires and code, their brows furrowed in concentration. Hiro and Zara scanned the void, searching for the rogue rock that had brought them to the brink.
Minutes turned to hours, and slowly, the station came back to life. The hole was sealed, the oxygen stabilized, and power returned to the vital systems. The crew let out a collective sigh of relief, their breaths fogging up the visors of their helmets.
Eva looked out into space, her eyes searching for the asteroid. There it was, a small, dark shape drifting away from them. It was just a random chunk of rock, but it had almost been the end of them.
Back inside, the crew gathered, their faces tired but triumphant. They had faced the abyss and survived. They were more than colleagues; they were a family, bound by the thin air they shared and the endless night that surrounded them.
As they settled back into their routines, the Orion Station continued its orbit, a little battered but unbroken. The crew knew that space was unforgiving, but they also knew that together, they could breathe life into the void.
And so, they lived on, their voices a symphony of clicks and beeps, their hearts beating in time with the pulse of the universe. They were breathless no more.

PRUITT: “Uh… sorry to wake you.”
I do not think I have the words to explain my thoughts and feelings about this scene. I expected Pruitt to be upset for Andy and to have it out with Sullivan on her behalf even if she didn’t need him to act and speak for her. I did not expect him to get at Andy for it AT ALL because I would have thought he’d know better. That he’d know it wouldn’t be his place to tell Andy where hers is because who she sleeps with isn’t his business.
I… wow. Clearly he hasn’t caught up with the times that’s all but made this kind of behaviour a criminal offence to women. That was unbelievably sexist and extremely disrespectful to Andy. His own daughter. He really did just call her a slut. Not only that but he also implied that she’s not capable of understanding her own actions and choices when it comes to the consequences of her losing her job as lieutenant and ruining the chances for any women that apply for that job. As if it has anything to do with who they sleep with why they are even in that job in the first place.
Just the sheer audacity for Pruitt’s mind to go there was absolutely fucking disgusting. He does NOT get to decide or even comment on where Andy, or any woman for that matter, opens their legs and to whom because they’re firefighters and he once captain’d them. Never mind about his fucking “legacy”. You just don’t do that because a women’s right to do whatever or/and whomever they want is no man’s fucking business no matter what they are in relation to them.
I mean I wasn’t the greatest fan of Pruitt before but this scene has ruined his character in my eyes now. I have absolutely no respect for him whatsoever from this point onwards because there’s no coming back from discrimination to women, to Andy, with me ever. I get that Andy may have to forgive him, but as a woman on behalf of all women, I won’t. And I’m very sure neither will Maya because she was also livid. And she should be because men do not get to have any say over what women do or don’t do no matter what the relationship they have to us is. With this one scene, Pruitt has made it quite clear how he thinks of women because there is no way he would have spoken to his daughter like that if that wasn’t already his mindset.
That was the mindset of a misogynist, not a father. He can play the father card all he likes and pretend that he is just trying to protect Andy as his daughter. Nah, no way that excuse is going to fly because if it was about being a father, his first instinct would to be to act and speak on his daughter’s behalf to Sullivan, not immediately verbally attack her for assuming that she’d slept with him. It doesn’t matter who it is he’s assumed she’d slept with. It’s not his place as a father to ever comment on it to her because Andy is a fully grown consenting adult woman. He isn’t commenting on it to her because she is his daughter. He is really commenting on it to her because she’s a female firefighter and believes she is still under his command.
You see, because the thing is, if Sullivan got in trouble for sleeping with Andy as her Captain, it wouldn’t negatively reflect on every man that makes it as a Captain, or a firefighter in general who also did. Just Sullivan. But what Pruitt is telling Andy and why he is commenting on it to her over Sullivan, is that every time she sleeps with a firefighter in her team, her Captain at that, she is ruining the chances for more women being firefighters and making it to Captain status. He is basically saying to Andy that because she can’t keep her legs shut in her own place of work, that she doesn’t deserve the respect as a firefighter AND that neither does any woman who chooses to do the same as her AND that if they continue to behave as they do, they do not deserve to make it as Captain.
It’s absolutely fucking HORRID what he said to Andy not just as his daughter, but also as a woman in the job of being a lieutenant firefighter. He has just told her that her choice to sleep with her Captain will reflect negatively on and weigh heavily against hers and any other woman’s chances of becoming Captain NOT because it’s against the rules for both her and Sullivan to have sexual relations, but because she must earn her keep as a female fightfighter (of all female fightfighters by leading as a good example) on the way to becoming Captain by keeping her legs shut.
How fucking discriminatory to women is that? It is the definition of misogyny in context of employment and promotion to state that sexual abstinence and/or purity in the workplace is the requirement for a woman to achieving the same employment and promotion that a man would have regardless of where he put his dick or of who he put it into. Yeah, Sullivan would get in trouble just as much as Andy would because of them having a sexual relationship with each other but it wouldn’t be because of his gender identity or sexuality why he would get in trouble for it. Whereas with Andy, it would be because women have to work so much harder for respect in employment predominantly and traditionally made for men to be as deserving of the same job and to have any chance of promotion compared to men at all. So for a man to come up to a woman and say that the requirement for being worthy of employment and promotion in a male-dominated department of work is to not have sex with anybody on and within the job… it is beyond the pale.
And for Pruitt to say to Andy, knowing how damn hard she’s worked all her life to be worthy of his validation, that her decision to have a sexual relationship with Sullivan or any firefighter reflects negatively on his legacy because he has no understanding of a woman’s right to sleep with whomever she wants to whenever and wherever she wants to, even when he is no longer her Captain or has any authority over her whatsoever as she is a fully grown consenting adult woman now… I don’t even have the words to explain how awful that is.
That was A SCENE. It was only a short scene but it provided incredibly significant and necessary female representation. The acting was STELLAR! I really felt Andy and Maya’s anger and shock at what Pruitt was saying to Andy. Fantastic performances all around! Especially Jaina. My god girl, that was phenomenal!

When Darcy was in high school she had a group of friends she always hung out with. There were six of them in total, including Darcy and wc. They would all go out and be wild. When Aurora Bay was expanding several years ago when Darcy, wc, and all their friends had just finished high school, there were plenty of abandoned houses that were all planned to be knocked down to make room for construction. Before anything was set to be destroyed, the group of friends made these abandoned houses their hideouts, where they’d drink, smoke, and tell ghost stories.
One night when they did this, Darcy and their friend, Knox, got into an argument and Darcy accidentally knocked over a bottle of whiskey, and a fire was accidentally started. It all happened so fast, and while everyone else made it out in time, Knox didn’t. He passed away from smoke inhalation.
Darcy’s father, being the Chief of Police in Aurora Bay, decided to cover up any evidence that led to his daughter starting the fire, in fear of her getting into too much trouble. The guilt was awful for Darcy and she grew distant from all her friends, but wc was there through it all. Wc and Darcy had always secretly had feelings for each other, but it was well known they’d do anything for one another.
But when the guilt of constantly being around the town that one of her best friends died in because of her, Darcy decided to leave town, wanting to get away from everything. She said nothing to her friends and family except for wc. She left wc a note, telling her she loved her and that she was sorry but she couldn’t stay in Aurora Bay.
After years of running from her problems, Darcy decided to move back and make amends with everyone she left behind. She’s been back in town for 8 months and UTP if wc has been there the whole time and they've reconciled or if they're coming back now or if she and Darcy have already reconciled.

Sage has loved soccer her whole life, she was the captain of the Aurora Bay Manatees in high school, and she’s now on the Aurora Bay University’s soccer team, the Stringrays. She’s always been a great team player, she’s competitive, dependable, and encouraging. From her team, she has three absolute best friends. They do everything together from playing soccer, to shopping, to just having movie nights. Sage feels lucky to be an adult and have such close friends. I’m really open with this connection. Maybe Sage could’ve had a romance with one of them, maybe there was some friend drama at one point, or just anything. I’d love to plot more!
