I think something that's at least contributing to my Agoraphobia is the knowledge that, as a Steampunk, if I leave my house, there's like an 80-90% chance I'm gonna get filmed by some teenager with a tiktok account without my consent, because I dress like this and it's "out of the norm":
Tumblr media
I'm not ashamed or embarrassed by my style at all; this is not a costume, it's just how I like to dress, I'd just really rather not be in some stranger's tiktok. I don't post myself on tiktok, so no one else should get to either.

There's a lot of posts out there reminding people that they don't have to respond to every stupid post they see but I feel like it's worth saying that you also don't have to finish reading the post once you've realized it's stupid. Easily one of my favorite things about the internet is the ability to get like two sentences into a post and go "actually I think you're wrong" and then just stop reading.

Steve: Hey, can someone give me a push? I can’t really reach the window.
Dustin: Ugh, fiiiiine! I can—
Eddie: *running past Dustin* I’LL DO IT!!
Steve:
Steve: When are you gonna push, man?
Eddie: *happily holding onto Steve’s ass*
Eddie: Shit, SORRY!

Robin chose Steve. Robin made the conscious and deliberate decision that she could and would trust Steve. She already liked him! She had fun working and bantering with him! They were already on their way to being weird little bffs and the torture just expedited the process. Steve chose Robin just the same! He thinks she's fun and cool and likes her so much! He chose to be honest and open with her too, putting himself out there.
Even though their interests on the surface level don't match why wouldn't they share them? Steve clearly caves when Robin wants to watch a movie he doesn't think he'll like, Robin can watch a March madness game or five.
Stop trying to take away their bond oh my god people can be close to more than one person!!! Their best friend doesn't have to be dismissive or mean or whatever in order for a romance to be special to them!

Not trying to be rude or anything but you shouldn't use the word 'manic' or 'manic period' etc. unless you actually have manic/depressive episodes because it downplays how severe those disorders can actually be. They're just words but unlearning harmful terminology like that can help destigmatise mental illness and I would hope youi would want to do that.
yeah it's almost like i used those words specifically because i DO understand how severe they are

the thing about steddie that gets me is that it‘s just these two characters that have so much love for other people, but so little for themselves.
we see eddie with the kids, giving his all to make them feel like they belong to hellfire, we see him with chrissy, putting on a little show so she doesn‘t feel threatened by him, we see him with dustin, roughhousing and telling him to never change (and that he loves him), we hear wayne talk about eddie lovingly, we see him DIE for a town that hates him. and then we see the eddie who talks down on himself, talking about how he always runs, „hunt the freak, right?“, and him blaming himself for chrissy‘s death. we see him being shunned and hunted by the whole town for who he is and for something that he was a victim of.
we see steve with the kids, always the babysitter and yet so serious about his role, we see him with robin, accepting her with open arms and driving her to school probably every morning, we see him with nancy, his ex, who he still tries to protect with all he has. and then we see steve who calls himself stupid, who talks about how weird he was as a child, who says how horrible he is as a boyfriend, who blames himself for not being better at school. we see him being ostracized by his old friends for becoming a better person, getting beat up multiple times and no one ever properly acknowledging it, and we know his parents are basically never there.
just the thought of them finally giving each other the love they deserve is so beautiful to me.

I feel like Eddie is the type of guy to always have a slide whistle in his pocket and uses it to make incidental sound effects for the conversations that happen around him.
Nobody knows where he gets them all from and they don’t ask incase he takes one out and starts playing with it.
Wayne is so happy every time he loses one of the whistles. He absolutely never tells Eddie when he finds one of the numerous whistles that have rolled under the couch. He has an agreement with Steve to dispose of them secretly and securely.
Except one night when Steve’s driving around town with Eddie, he opens the glove box and there’s a bag full of whistles (seriously nobody knows where he’s getting them from. And in bulk?)
And Eddie is all ‘HEY!’ Which immediately makes Steve tense up in preparation for an argument with his easily antagonised boyfriend about the possible theft of offending musicals instruments.
But then Eddie continues with ‘more whistles! I didn’t take you for a fan dude!!’
And promptly shoves one up each of his nostrils and one in his mouth and tries to play them all at once while demanding Steve watch instead of watching the road.
Steves going to have to think of a new hiding spot.

steddie christmas party au
the thing is--there's an office holiday party coming up.
steve, who works as a guidance counselor at hawkins middle, knows that every year the staff throws a holiday party. he wasn't here for the one last year, off visiting nancy and robin in boston for the holidays, but everyone says it's always a good time and the teachers have all been hounding him to go.
the thing is--he wouldn't even mind going alone. he actually likes some of his co-workers, and he has enough natural charm to survive one night of bad food and christmas music and punch that's just a little too strong to have more than two glasses without getting wasted. he knows that he could go alone and everything would be fine.
but he doesn't really want to.
"plus one?" the school secretary says with raised brows as he hands in his rsvp card. "i didn't know you were seeing anybody."
steve just shrugs as he turns to head back to his office. it's not like people haven't tried to pry into his love life before--some of the female teachers make their availability blaringly obvious to him every time he answers the question "do you have a girlfriend" with "no"--they just haven't gone about it in the right way.
it's not like he's hiding his relationship, people just assume, and they assume incorrectly. that's not his fault.
"the staff christmas party?" eddie asks that night as they're getting ready for bed. "you seriously want to go to that?"
"you don't have to come," steve tells him around a mouthful of toothpaste, then spits. "i just thought it might be nice for you to meet some of my co-workers, and for some of them to meet you. but if you don't want to come with me, that's okay, really."
"babe, if you want me there, i'm there," eddie tells him as he ditches his jeans for flannel pajamas. "just don't be surprised when i get tipsy off the punch and make a fool out of you on the dance floor."
and so, they went to the party with steve dressed in his usual khakis with this favorite ugly christmas sweater worn over a casual dress shirt, and eddie in his usual black on black, though he switched the band t-shirt for a button-up. he added a red tie last minute to try and be more festive for the party, even though steve kept telling him he could wear whatever he wanted.
they walk into the gym hand in hand, and more than a few people stop talking to turn and stare.
but eddie's not paying attention because he's looking at the tinsel hung up on the walls and wondering how they got it that high up, and steve ignores all the surprised faces looking at him until he spots his group of friends tucked together in the corner, some with their spouses, some without.
he drags eddie over to them and introduces him as his boyfriend--saying it loud enough for every goddamn eavesdropper to hear it clearly--and eddie shakes hands and smiles as steve's friends greet him without missing a beat.
they eat and they drink and they dance, and most of the party gets over their initial shock pretty quickly after seeing how happy steve is with eddie around. the rest of the night goes by quickly, and someone even snaps a picture of steve kissing eddie under the mistletoe hanging over the gym door.
by the time the students come back from break in the new year the rumors about mr. harrington sexuality are basically non-existent--thank you short attention spans--and most of the teachers have stopped asking him if he has a girlfriend. steve feels like a weight has been lifted from his shoulders, one he didn't even realize he was carrying. it's freeing, having everyone--everyone who matters--know about about eddie.
and when the staff christmas party rolls around again next year, steve has twice as much fun dragging eddie under the mistletoe with a ring on his finger and a date picked out for the spring.

god damn i do not post often but can i talk about intentionality for a second?? one second please
i'm gonna be talking about bg3 but this really applies to any fandom space. people will, surface-level, agree that a Black character is not getting enough content compared to their white counterparts because it's. obvious . take wyll, who is several hours behind on voiced lines compared to other origins despite being one of the original five (before they added karlach and whiteified her too but that's another post). it's hard to deny cold hard facts
but then instead of engaging in content that uplifts Black characters and creators, they'll go right back to pumping out more and more content of just their white faves. on its own, it's not actively harmful, but here's what the implication is, whether they acknowledge it or not: yes wyll has less in-game content, yes his writing didn't get the attention it deserved, therefore i don't like him as much. it only perpetuates wyll's lack of content by contributing to his sidelining in fandom spaces
what i would love for fans who claim to be allies to do is to step out of the comfort zone of their initial favorites (which can, in fact, be biased!) and start pursuing content centering Black characters with intentionality. like all things, anti-racism (actively pushing back against racism rather than simply "Not Being Racist") takes practice and effort. you can't really agree with us that wyll needs more content, then in the same breath say that it's because of that that he's not interesting to you . the point was right in front of you doing a jig and you still missed it

twelvegate is super fun and I love reading posts/theories about Will and El being bio twins but I also love the idea of there being a fantasy/sci-fi divide between Will and El’s powers. El’s powers while still supernatural is rooted in sci-fi tropes and lore while Will’s are steeped in fantasy tropes and lore. El has psionic abilites while Will has magic. El is the science experiment gone rogue while Will is the wizard. El’s powers were born out of men in science meddling where they shouldn’t have while Will was born completely out of chance because of ancient magic of the universe.
