i love starting a new game and having the first people talk to you be like "hey we're doing a very dangerous job but dont worry everything will be fine :) get attached to me as a character :) feel something about me :) i'm quirky i have personality and we're definitely all going to survive longer than 20 minutes :)" and by love i mean god it is exhausting

Playing and ENJOYING starfield. Idk what got up everyone else's ass (don't go into the starfield tags!! Just constant bashing of the game) but I find the game enjoyable. Relaxing almost. The atmosphere, the npcs, the planets. It feels a bit morrowwind esque in that it's creepy enough to put me slightly on edge but tranquil enough to feel relaxing

theres an option in starfield where you can visit your parents but have to send them a weekly stipend equal to two percent of your credits and from strictly a gameplay perspective it offers me no real benefits but for a brief moment someone named mom will call me their daughter and i guess thats worth it

heard rumblings of an oblivion remake. i'm not sure if that's actually substantiated, but if it is it'll be interesting to see what they do with it. part of oblivion's charm, i think, it just how busted and of its time it is. it's got that 360 near-launch look to it, that 7th gen bloomy, saturated haze, like somebody at bethesda is spit-polishing your camera in real time to keep your focus off the fact that the engine is spewing black smoke. the score is lush and soft and sweeping. oblivion has, for lack of a better term, a kind of mucilaginous quality to it, i think, but i assume part of that is the positive memories i ascribe to it through nostalgia. oblivion is bright, and dense, but there's enough in it for you to stick your hands in and gouge out something interesting yourself. if you make it cleaner, better, if you wipe the vaseline off the lens, i wonder what's left? i can't argue that they shouldn't improve things like stability, or the ai, or increase the amount of voice actors from 2 to 3, but i hope the likelihood of a quest npc saying ᶠᵃʳᵉʷᵉˡˡᵎ and then pinging straight through the wall, never to be seen again and ruining a quest you'll do 80 hours from now, is at least there. i'm looking forward to it, in any case

Personally, I find Starfields idea of a future earth ( a lifeless barren wasteland ) highly unlikely. To quote Dr. Ian Malcolm: “ Life breaks free. Life expands to new territories. Painfully, perhaps even dangerously. But life finds a way. “

STARFIELD (2023) dev. Bethesda Game Studios
COLTON BRAY — Space Scoundrel
"Good? Bad? Whose right is it to say? If there’s anything you’ve learned while traipsing through the galaxy, it’s this: space may look black, but it’s really one big shade of grey."
