“When Dominic discovered Dorothy’s cooking he went wild. Usually stage food is barely passable, and there’s only two ways Dorth makes “barely passable” food… that’s no way, and no how! So whenever Dominic knew Dorth would be cookin’, he’d be rubbin’ his hands together in gleeful anticipation. Well we used to get the dailies up in the art department, and one day I come across this blooper that shows it better than I can ever describe it. Watch Dom blow his lines and not care, cause he’s lovin’ it so much. Anthony Montgomery cracks up!”

Have you heard about The Official Star Trek Cooking Manual (1978)? Written from the perspective of Nurse Chapel, it includes recipes from different Earth cultures, as well as Vulcan, Klingon and Romulan recipes, which are some of the earliest examples of words in these languages in the franchise and an interesting attempt to expand the canon.
The book has been out of print for almost forty five years. To my knowledge, it has never been scanned, and no luck locating it in physical libraries either. And with the current Amazon listing for a second hand copy going for about $100, it seemed destined to go unarchived and become lost media very soon.
However, this has all just changed! A fellow Tumblr user has very kindly scanned and uploaded the whole thing! You can now read the book here:

I like to think that Vulcans who come to understand that Humans just can’t try to process emotions the same way as them, it’s just healthiest to let it out in harmless ways, decide that venting and stuff should be taken just as seriously as Vulcan’s meditation time, and will encourage the Humans around them to complain about what’s upsetting them
People who are used to aloof Vulcans who avoid Humans at all cost running into one comforting a Human
“-and then they said my cheesecake was subpar, and they didn’t even bring a dish!!!”
“The purpose of this event was that every participant brings a food item of sorts, correct?”
“Yeah!!”
“And they did not follow this rule while insulting dishes that were brought?”
Imagine a Star Trek type food replicator that lacks an internal library of approved outputs and instead uses a generative language model to figure out what you're asking for. People having to do Midjourney-style prompt crafting to get the meals they want out of it. Abusing the system by describing things that absolutely are not food in ways which circumvent the safeguards. Occasionally it produces something that tries to eat you back which it insists with perfect confidence is in fact a strawberry crumble.
james t. kirk, tarsus survivor, whenever someone needs help and support: we should get hotdogs. in fact we should get two hotdogs. i’m going to get cookies. we’re going to split the cookie.
to celebrate pride month, here are a few of my favorite queer star trek couples!!!!
i had a lot more in the sketch stage, but they didn't fit well on the page together, so i am very sorry to spock+kirk, garak+bashir, Q+picard and kim+paris people because i did not draw those silly little guys <3 <3
The Star Trek Cooking Manual really did expose Vulcans for their sweet tooth loll
The fact that there are SEVEN sweet dishes listed from Vulcan and Spock's meal selections! And that's not including savoury pastries! They love fruity pastries and cakes!!!!
They literally have a wedding/ceremonial cake that is practically identical to everyday cake! Spock makes a plum custard pie that is adapted from the other vulcan fruit custard pie! They have fried bananas as a side dish and orange mint iced tea! Vulcans have a *massive* sweet tooth!
TIL: 'Vulcans only eat super healthy food' is a myth, much like 'Vulcans don't lie'- yes they do-, they're eating cake.
Hi I`ve recently been a little bit obsessed with weird anime café menus and wanted to make a menu for an imaginary star trek café! What would you order?
