cooking stream with bf!sapnap. non streamer reader because why not. and i tried to make applicable to most readers but theres not much i can do given that its a cooking stream, so im sorry if it doesnt fit some people.

side note, do people like it more when the name isnt mentioned or is "y/n" fine? cause i feel weird writing y/n but also find it hard to not have a name in the sentence at all...

bf!sapnap who starts the steam like normal with his resting face until he turned to look at you and subconsciously started grinning. he then proceeded to introduce you very enthusiastically.

"yea, were cooking with yn today guys!"

bf!sapnap that explains how you to were just gonna make a normal dinner together.

"yea so we're just gonna make baked salmon and veggies cause we dont wanna do too much," he looked at you as you nodded in agreement.

"and rice."

"and rice!"

bf!sapnap that lets you answer questions people direct towards you.

are you planning on moving in with sapnap now?

"uh... hah... no, not at this moment in time"

"i think she likes me. or shes just overall really chill 😅"

"of course. shes like the queen. i have to or she'll like... kill me in my sleep."

bf!sapnap that absent-mindedly pats your ass as he walks behind you every once in a while. chat only caught onto it when you have you back turned to the camera and they saw him do it 😭. people clipped it and the way you pursed your lips every time and looked into the camera for a second.

bf!sapnap who tries not to watch you so cautiously as you chop vegetables but cant help but look over every few seconds.

bf!sapnap who doesnt catch how much chat loves and freaks out when you only call him 'nick'.

"hey nick, why are there barely any spices in here..."

"nick, be careful please?" *as he swings around the knife stabbing the air as if hes in an anime*

or when bf!sapnap sneaks in a kiss whenever he can and youre not expecting it.

ie. when your pause to attempt to read the chat

"how in hell do you guys read the chat when it goes by so-"

his lips left yours as soon as they met and he turns around nonchalantly to check on the preheat status of the oven. he really just did it to hide the huge grin on his face

bf!sapnap who flicks water at you after he washed his hands. you stare at him with playfully challenging eyes that tell him he just started a war.

bf!sapnap who calls a truce after you managed to drench the front his hoodie in water.

bf!sapnap who hugs you from behind (after changing his hoodie) and sways as you two wait for the food to bake in the oven. he quietly whispers 'i love you' into your ear as you try to supress a smile.

bf!sapnap who absolutely refused to let you pull the tray out of the oven.

bf!sapnap who gave you the bigger piece of salmon while you were grabbing drinks.

bf!sapnap who answered all the questions directed for you when you had a mouthful of food.

bf!sapnap who glared at the camera when he saw an influx of comments that called him 'simpnap'

bf!sapnap who couldnt help but groan at the trending hashtag on twitter.... (you guessed it...#simpnap) dream and george def teased him for it afterwards

like, genuinely. taking accountability for your actions in perpetuation of abuse and rape culture is the first step to changing that culture. it doesn’t make you a bad person just because you did a bad thing (unless you were intentionally trying to cause harm) but you have to admit you are not immune to accidentally supporting the bad thing and take accountability for that. if you supported george's statements on sexual harassment, or dream's sexual jokes towards minors, or sapnap getting paid money to stream on a platform which openly harbours rapists and sex abusers, you've been a part of keeping the environment that makes it hard for victims to have come out. if you started believing in anti-victim sentiments and harassed other abuse victims for talking about how it made them uncomfortable, you’ve supported this environment. if you assumed anyone uncomfortable with your streamer or trying to talk out against them was inherently lying solely because it was your streamer, you helped support an enviroment that fostered abusers.

and that sounds harsh, and I’m sorry. but it’s true. and to a degree, I think everyone in this community has done that with people at one point in their lives. it's very easy to be manipulated, but it’s also very easy to be wilfully blind, and that’s not something irredeemable or a permanent stain. you can change, but you need to identify in yourself what caused you to act like that and make a conscious change. it’s healthier for you and it’s healthier for the environment. if we want to avoid this in the future, we need to be proactive in calling out actual potentially harmful behaviour, even if it’s from someone you like. or we will continue to harbour mass amount of abusers.

most content creators are not abusers. most, to be honest, are awkward introverted nerds with social anxiety. at least, that’s what i've got from the ones my brother knows (and that includes some big ccs). but while they’re a huge part of it bc being in front of a camera instead of people is a huge draw, there’s another draw that attracts a less savoury crowd- and that’s the position of power. and unless you’re willing to listen and be kind to genuine, serious criticism of harmful actions, and ccs are willing to do the same, abuse and sexual assault WILL continue to be normalised in these spaces. it is not your sole responsibility, but it IS a responsibility to make sure to avoid that now you know the possibilities aggressively attacking any criticism can hide. caiti had to deal with people with her abusers face threaten her for speaking negatively towards him. do not let that happen again.

#obviously not every dteam stan or member of dtblr knew #you aren’t accountable if you genuinely didn’t know about any of these things or did try and speak out about them #but the amount of people I’ve seen who posted abuse apologism acting like there was nothing they could have done and like.#I’m sorry. I sympathise with you but there was something you could have done #And that was not leap on anyone who said anything slightly negative about dream george or Sapnap #this isn’t like wilbur who didn’t have widespread criticism for stuff like this #at least to my knowledge- it very much seems like he made sure to have any of that show in ways that were easy to write off as bits #but these. aren’t. these aren’t bits these were things that these people did in serious situations.#Punz too I guess but idk if anyone did that with him #this isn’t drama this isn’t discourse this is real peoples lives. don’t treat them like blorbo in your shows.

It isn't like Tubbo tweeted with a flashy "SAPNAP DRAMA!?" title and advertised what he was doing to get views. Tubbo regularly streams for like 5-7 hours on his alt doing whatever he feels like. He didn't PLAN to go and engineer a "drama" stream he just wanted to share his thoughts on Sapnap's response. And it's legitimate criticism too lol

"Why are so many people in the minecraft community bad people?"

WARNING: THIS POST CONTAINS TALK OF POWER DYNAMICS, ABUSE, SA, ETC

This has become a fairly popular question. Whether it be a joke to poke fun at the ridiculous amount of minecraft youtubers who are awful people or a genuine curiosity.

Now I dont have all the answers. I am not saying I do. But I think I have a couple of answers. None of them are clear-cut, and I think they blend together. So, let's begin

1. It's a kids game.

Predators flock towards spaces with children. And games for children will be a Hotspot. Especially something like minecraft that had a massive ressurgance in 2020. This happens all the time, both online and offline. Disgusting people using children's products to hide their pedophilia.

2. The world is full of awful people.

The internet is a Russian roulette of fame. It doesn't matter how good your content is. Fame happens randomly and sparcely. When your content is good, you can graple onto the game and harness it. However, with something as fickle as a random chance, you're bound to get some weirdos and degenerates. And in a community as large as minecraft, it isn't surprising stuff like this is happening.

3. We don't know them

I've seen a lot of people act betrayed and shocked when bad information about their favorite CC comes out. And as much as I do, I get the sadness that comes with it. It's a bit ridiculous. What they are doing on that screen is not them. It is a performance, a show for our entertainment. With editing and practice, they can formulate an entirely different identity. So, for those acting, how we could've seen any of this coming. We couldn't, but we can learn to not attatch ourselves to people we don't know.

ENDING THOUGHTS

Sure, I liked Wilbur Soot's content. But guess what? He's not my friend or my good buddy. So , just stop listening and paying attention. In the end, the internet is an echo chamber of parasocial relationships and bad decisions made since we see ourselves as above consequences when behind a screen. So my parting advice is to stop living through the internet. See reality. Because you're gonna realise how fucked up your perception really is.
