Re: that guy in the senate hearing room
God I don’t give a flying fuck what two consenting adults do. I don’t care where they do it. God knows they did less harm than the senate does on a regular basis. I’m so tired of our community turning on each other because of some sexual nonsense between, again, consenting adults. It’s bad enough to face christofascists, stop doing their job for them.

Enough by Cassidy Hutchinson
Cassidy Hutchinson’s desk was mere steps from the most controversial president in recent American history. Now, she provides a riveting account of her extraordinary experiences as an idealistic young woman thrust into the middle of a national crisis, where she risked everything to tell the truth about some of the most powerful people in Washington. Ever since a childhood visit to Washington, DC,…

Anger Pervades Entirety of GQP; Powers Fascism
Anger is at the core of white identity, the foundation of grievance politics. You expect the base to be irrationally angry, but not the staffers and office holders, but you're wrong. And it is that pervasive anger that is driving the fascism of the GOP.
WTF, Republicans?!? WTAF?!? Last week there was a post on Ye Olde Blogge detailing the many ways that the professional GQP’ers just don’t give — checks notes — two shiny shits about their voters. Their disregard for the painful lives that their policies condemn the rural conservative Christian voter to — life expectancy in that demographic is FALLING, despite the US of A having the BEBESTest…

Regarding that twink getting railed in the Senate hearing room:
I can't be super happy because it's going to lead to various degrees of even more "they're sickly, sex-crazed vermin" discourse about gay men from both conservative politicians and just regular people. And OF COURSE it should not be his job to represent gay guys, as that is a role unfairly forced upon him by the marginalization of gay men...but it is a role he is in as a gay man working fairly high up in government, and he acted pretty grossly. Sex at work on someone else's desk is, generally, very bad.
On the other hand though he is an icon, a legend, and he is the moment. Having gay sex in the Senate is nothing short of an incredible and hilarious act of defiance, even if not intended as such. He got SPLIT OPEN right where RBG got confirmed to the supreme court, just like she would've wanted.

The Commission of Inquiry on War Criminals, headed by Justice Jules Deschênes, completed an important report into its investigation on Holocaust war criminals living in Canada in 1986. It was accompanied by an assessment by scholar Alti Rodal, a document that Justice Deschênes said deserved “wide distribution.”
But it’s been 38 years, and we’re still waiting to read Ms. Rodal’s report as well as the full version of the Deschênes report itself. To this day, many Canadian Holocaust-related records and investigations are inaccessible[...]
The U.S. government provides researchers and the public various avenues of access to Holocaust records through its National Archives and the robust Freedom of Information Act, where scholars and others are empowered to access sensitive documents about Nazi war criminals who took refuge in the U.S. No such system exists in Canada, neither through Library and Archives Canada nor via the federal Access to Information Act.[...]
Most governments became aware of the hundreds, if not thousands, of potential war criminals living in their societies in the late 1970s and 80s, and Canada was no different. In response, Canada decided to conduct the Deschênes Commission, an internal two-year investigation tasked with finding out if and how Nazis found refuge in Canada. The final report, which was released publicly with extensive deletions, marked the premature end of investigations into hundreds of war criminals and called for the federal Justice and Immigration departments to take the lead on future prosecution.[...]
The post-Deschênes era has been a failure. The commission asked for 218 individuals to be investigated, and specifically targeted 20 “really bad guys,” as Ms. Rodal recently remarked. The 218 other cases were bad, too – they included gas chamber operators, policemen who shot thousands of Jews and murderers of Jewish children. The Canadian government has charged just four alleged Holocaust perpetrators over four decades, all of whom were acquitted. [...]
The fact that a soldier of the Third Reich was welcomed into the Canadian Parliament, and that there was such shock as to how this could happen, demonstrates how Canada has yet to confront its past relationship with Nazi war criminals in earnest. And perhaps the blanket denial of access to the nation’s own government records and investigations is an underlying cause. In response to the Yaroslav Hunka affair, the federal government has flirted with new disclosures. In October, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau remarked, “There are top public servants looking very carefully into the issue, including digging into the archives. We’re going to make recommendations.” Months have passed – we are still waiting.

a bit of a weird day but my seminar took a field trip to the u.s. capitol and we met a senator to discuss federal policy. tbh no one in my class, including our professor, really agrees with their political philosophy lolol (which they acknowledged), but still an interesting experience to go into the building nonetheless ! afterwards, got some studying done at a café🍵🌄

ive been gathering sources on loz development for a while now and i want to finish writing an essay at some point on. basically Why I Think Loz Is The Way It Is, but in the mean time i wanna drop one of my favorite articles here related to zelda development & writing, which is this WIRED interview with a staff member named Yoshiaki Koizumi, who i wish more people knew about. and it’s not like a huge revelation or anything and Koizumi isnt the only person on the team who has ever cared about the games, but i think his work & commentary on the series helps add some context a lot of people are looking for, and at some point i might compile a larger list of interesting articles to check out. but this is a good one lol

Was looking at my iPod Nano and thought how utterly BS it is that companies say it takes too much room to have a headphone jack.
I already thought it was BS before but the claim invariably comes down to form factor and keeping the jacks would make the device too big.
My Nano is ~5mm thick with the jack (also it's thinner than that but the glass stands out to make it thicker). That's nearly 3mm thinner than the latest iPhone and even the thinnest iPhone is over 2mm thicker.
You're telling me as components and ports shrink and boards also get smaller, it's unfeasible to do something that was done a decade ago?
It's almost as if it's not that form factor/technology doesn't allow it and it's all about selling proprietary adapters and/or Apple-brand headphones/earbuds/airpods that can be paired without a jack, and removing customer freedom.

[image id: illustration of Tinfoil Chef from Hermitcraft. It shows a colossal underground chasm with millions of holes bored into the rock walls in the shapes of people. At the bottom, TFC sits in a ramshackle shed with his pickaxe, smoking. end id]
Repost arriving a week late to the party just like the man himself because the original didn’t even show up in the tags and I didn’t fucking notice, my piece for the @hermithorrors zine, featuring TFC! Out now and free for digital download, including both art and writing by a bunch of cool-ass people! This was so fun to make and an awesome experience to work alongside so many other incredible creatives.
