Ok. I just need to take a moment and say I absolutely love how Wally's reactions while dodging an alien hurtling towards him out of his 𝘞𝘐𝘍𝘌'𝘚 mouth are normal, but then his finishing expression and pose is like a Greek statue.

I asked a while ago if anyone knew whether CXS, LG, and QL representing The Star Warriors of hope, courage, and wisdom respectively meant anything, and I got a phenomenal reply from shimmeringweeds. CXS and QL's themes just sorta fit the vibes of their characters for me. The only issue was that I didn't really understand why Lu Guang was the Star of Courage of all things especially if he wasn't the star of wisdom.

It was bothering me a lot because I just could not see it at first, and now I realise why.

The fandom often talks about Lu Guang time travelling back to save Cheng Xiaoshi to be an act of love and desperation and gayness, that he just couldn't go on without him and was willing to risk throwing the into disarray just to say his name once more (sobbing). But this only really looks at the angsty parts of what Lu Guang must have been going through and thinking about when he made his decision to dive.

This is because travelling back in time to save Cheng Xiaoshi also means carrying the risk of failing to save Cheng Xiaoshi, a very realistic and almost certain outcome that he will be there again holding his best friend as he dies in his arms, Lu Guang as helpless to save him as he was the first time (and every other time). There's no way he hasn't thought about that, watching the life sink out of Cheng Xiaoshi but forcing himself to sit through it so his best friend's final moments will be with someone who loves him, so he won't be doomed to be abandoned even in his final moments. Even if he's going to go back and change the timeline, erasing this death, Lu Guang doesn't ever want to leave him alone. For Cheng Xiaoshi, Lu Guang never wants to run away.

And so Lu Guang keeps going back, despite this certainty of failure and the soul-scarring consequences of it. It might not be an understatement to say that Cheng Xiaoshi's death was the worst thing that ever happened to Lu Guang, and that's a testament to the guts he has for facing that reality again and again for the sake of one he loves.

Pleiades pleaded, as the Dollmaker's dagger dug deeper and deeper into his back, cutting right through his yellowish-colored flesh, golden blood spewing out, he had no way of fighting back, and stabs to the pancreas wouldn't have been enough to shut his cries up anymore.

His spine, she aimed at his spine. She tried to break it using her sharp blade, so she could easily rip it out of his body, leaving him absolutely motionless. She didn't care if he'd heal, like he always does, somehow; all she wanted in that moment was to make him suffer.

The warrior could feel costant hits on his vertebrae, like a hammer on a nail, it was terrifying, disturbing. painful.

His wails completely for naught. he felt a horrifying snap, followed by atrocious pain. His consciousness started fading away. All he could do... was look back.....

...and scream his heart out.

Musical Touken Ranbu: Tsuwamonodomo ga Yume no Ato english sub

A passion project if there's ever been one, it's been a longstanding want of mine to finally do this! Needless to say, Tsuwamono and everything it meant is still my favourite plot from Toumyu! I love its character-driven and intricate writing, its heartrending acting choices, as well as the way it invites one to think about what characters think and why, and why they do or don't (dare to) do the things they do.

However, another important reason that I'm letting myself indulge in this, is that recent Toumyu has taken a turn away from this plot, changing the way how Mikazuki is framed, tying different characters to themes that were tied to Kogitsunemaru, and put those characters into roles that would originally have been most natural for Kogitsunemaru to follow.

In that light, then, I hope that these subtitles will allow you to see, even if it's just the smallest sliver, what I loved in Toumyu's take of Kogi and Mika up to and including Kotobuki. To see that it was beautiful. Because I think it was. 💙💛🌙🦊

Keep in mind that the files in the folder below are only the subtitle files, timed and tled to the blu-ray and DMM senshuuraku distribution. The folder also includes a pdf with translation notes, some background information where I felt it would add, and just a little bit of eager gushing about the references made.

His kindness sways his heart again and again to stab himself with it. He fights a futile battle. He tries anyway.#He lies- He fears- He doesn't speak-- in understandable fear of the devastation he may cause if his words reached the ears of those he love #He would rather risk breaking.#Mikazuki is such a complex and deafeningly HUMAN character and I love that painfully kind and undeniably human portrayal of him so much #and though a certain contrast with Mikazuki is a vital part of the way Kogitsunemaru enters the paintwork here it is ultimately the fact #that he was never black and white- that he ever sees the bigger picture ironically just as Mika said- that allows him to understand #even if with his own personal feelings and his discipline he can't follow the same road #this in deep contrast to Hizamaru- who would not even have hesitated or felt reluctant or even had to battle his feelings had he found out #and I think the relief of having someone dear to confide in- that's emphasized twice with Iwa in the myu- in the form of Kogi #is something that (up to TKO) would and should have meant the world to Mikazuki #that his unwillingness to follow the same path could much too naturally still have meant he could have supported Mikazuki in other ways

Don’t resist

The knife drew nearer and nearer and Whumpee tried to press their back even further into the floor as they squirmed and panicked under their captor.

“No! No, don’t!” They stretched out their arms, hands against his chest and shoulder as he closed in on them. A futile attempt to keep him away.

Surprisingly, though, he stopped leaning closer. But when Whumpee looked up, they immediately saw it wasn’t out of mercy. His eyes were cold as ice.

He held eye contact and then slowly, his head tilted a little and his pupils moved down, to where their hands still rested against his shoulder.

They quickly drew back, stammering apologies, but he snatched up their wrist in a painful grip.

“Please! I’m sorry, I -- Ah!” Their voice broke off in a pitiful whimper.

“You’d better be.”

“I am! It won´t-- Please, I won’t do it again, please!”

The knife drew closer again and they squeezed their eyes shut, muttering and rambling the same word over and over again as the blade teased along their jawline. They gasped as they felt the skin split and their eyes snapped back open as the grip on their wrist tightened and tightened in warning to pay attention.

“Say please one more time and I’ll break your wrist.” His hand tightened around it.

Whumpee abruptly fell silent and with a satisfied hum, Whumper let go and leaned in close again.

“Keep your arms down. Don’t struggle, don’t resist.”

And Whumpee did just what they were told; no pleas, not a word, and kept as still as they could when the knife sank into the flesh under their collarbone.
