I will never get over how wild it is that the st writers revealed Robin’s last name in a tweet way after season 3 dropped. And sure enough, when season 4 rolls around, her last name is Buckley. Just wild.

Chapter Summary:

Nancy dropped her head against Robin’s leg, who was absentmindedly playing with the other girl’s hair. Steve was comfortable against Eddie’s chest, and his legs provided Max with a nice little cocoon. She thought about it, and then she tried to stop it, but not even fifteen minutes into the movie Max shifted, leaning all of her weight against his hip. She bumped Robin with her feet and immediately apologized, but the girl just sent her a smile and gently maneuvered Max’s legs into her lap.

She didn’t even need a blanket, everything was so warm. Steve turned sideways so Max could lay on him more comfortably. She barely noticed it, let alone questioned it; all she knew was that, for the first time in a long time, her mind felt calm -- like when she was listening to her Walkman or when she managed to sleep without nightmares. She felt like she could relax. Robin’s hands were warm on her ankles, picking thoughtlessly at her socks. Steve was like a heated blanket, and he was surprisingly comfortable when he wasn’t wiggling around.

FUCKING STRANGER THINGS. FUCK THE DUFFER BROTHERS. FUCK ANYONE AND EVERYONE INVOLVED IN THE WRITING OF VOL. 2

no, seriously. vol. 1 was so, so good. the best ST season, hands down. but miracoulosly, against all odds, the duffer bros managed to fuck it all up in two episodes.

first, will byers. seriously? you call that a coming out scene? fuck you. what reason was there to make will be in love mike if not for byler? what. reason. mileven were already a couple, will could be gay without falling for mike. are the duffer brothers aware that not all queer people pine for their best friends? are they? such a fucking cliche.

secondly, eddie munson. what the fuck. why the fuck. i get that he was doomed from the start, but atleast give him a decent death. they could have at the very least cleared his name. (no, dont say that would be unrealistic. what about this show is realistic?) he was the best thing that ever happened to this show and voila, they ruined it. PLOT DEVICE.

thirdly, the assasination of michael wheeler's character. oh boy. oh boy. this guy went from being kind and loyal and vaguely oblivious to being an utter dick. how does one not notice his best fucking friend crying next to him? how does one not read into that loaded-ass monologue? how did he forget will's birthday????? they were best friends, guys. did i imagine the first three seasons?

fourthly, here's a really good breakdown of racism this season.

in conclusion, fuck this show. fuck the writers. fuck anyone who thought this would be a good idea.

Kind of wonder if the reason why Karen has a poster is simply because she's memorable from S03... They'd have to pull something out of the hat to get her involved with the Scooby Gang at this stage, no?

The Duffer Brother’s Didn't Forget Will’s Birthday...

At this point, I know everyone has moved past this and onto something else, and that’s exactly what they intended to happen, so props to the Duffel bros.

For those who don’t know, season 4 of Stranger Things officially started filming back in February 2020. Barely a month later in mid-March 2020, all filming in the U.S. was put on hold because of Covid restrictions, including Stranger Things.

What followed was the ST writers being a little bit more active on Twitter because they were bored obviously and wanted to keep fans hyped up despite all the incoming, inevitable delays.

I know this second screenshot circulated a little bit after ST4 dropped, but no one showed what they actually replied to. 

You’re telling me that, at a time when they would have had the timeline, setting and everything in regards to s4 at the top of their minds (March 21st, 1986 - March 29th, 1986), while it was literally March 22nd, 2020 in present day, that they were reminded of forgetting Will’s birthday, and acknowledged this concept of 'forgetting' on the following day (March 23rd 2020), because, “iT hApPeNs”, only to go back to fixating on the entirety of s4 being set during that exact short time period, all while the plot itself conveniently fits perfectly with everyone forgetting Will's birthday????? 

Are people really falling for this shit???

In the first episode of s4, the title card says March 21st, 1986, and they could have honestly just left it at that!

But then they just had to remind us of the date again on the camcorder at Rink-O-Mania in 4x02 being March 22nd (Will's birthday). Really subtle, so subtle it honestly wasn’t even necessary. Something that would had to have been edited in intentionally in post-production, after the fact. 

Let’s say hypothetically they did initially write season 4 with the setting and everything in mind, and did forget Will’s birthday (though it’s not likely with how cheeky this tweet comes off). They were still blatantly reminded of the date of Will’s birthday matching the setting of season four when it was literally that date in real time... And with barely a month of filming completed, they had plenty of time to fix it. Not to mention they ended up having 6+ months to rework and make things more fleshed out during their hiatus in spring/summer of 2020, before filming picked back up in late September 2020, which they admitted to being a blessing in disguise for them because they did in fact get the chance to make the story bigger and better than it would have been.

There’s a reason they rushed to making claims about how they would just retcon Will’s birthday and give him a different one, even going as far as to say they would dub over the scene in the show where it’s mentioned back in season 2, just give him a May birthday or something? Because it fits with the way Joyce’s lips move when she says it? Like, WHAT?

Why are they out here telling us their business? When shows make changes like this to past seasons for continuity or legal reasons, they usually don’t share it until long after the fact because it’s pretty embarrassing as a writer for this to happen to you. You don’t jump out and lay it all out on the table to your audience.

Edit: They've also seemed to debunk themselves since making this claim, even jokingly using a scene of Dustin swearing on his mother... idk... i think they were probably lying before, but now they're not...

Suddenly everyone’s forgotten that these dudes are smart and the whole spirit of the show is that everything is intentional. 

They’re not going to get hate for lying by saying they forgot. It’s going to be a lot more rewarding to see s5 play out because literally no one sees this coming.

okay how is volume 2 coming out the day after tomorrow??

i still can’t believe some ppl used to think that will was gonna be jealous of all the attention el was getting from the rest of the fam and pray on her downfall or some bs during the filming hiatus and then as it turned out the second they were seen on screen together they were doing their best to uplift each other and look out for one another. like why did ppl even want to see them not enjoying each other’s company or think that they would barely talk to each other? el was taken into a family known to always be protective of each other and be extremely loving and el was finally able to have the chance to have actual brothers who cared about her, unlike her “brothers” from the lab. even if we knew next to nothing ab what was gonna happen in st4 like two years ago i don’t understand why ppl considered the possibility that they weren’t gonna at least be NICE to each other like damn. and since we’re here obv will’s “stupid girl” comment was out of pocket and ridiculous but i don’t think it was him calling her that directly and fully meaning it but ofc i wish there was an apology of some sorts on screen or something. but why did ppl want to make it seem like will was gonna hate el’s guts when she moved in w them …. and those who were set on that happening owe me money bc of how their dynamic ACTUALLY played out in st4 cus i’ve been so fucking tired of those takes since day 1
