I just saw this on facebook and ohmygod I need to read a fic like this.

I want a fic where John comes back instead of Mary. I want a fic where Dean finally dares to talk back, call him on his shit, to tell him the same things he did to Mary. That he was never a child, never had a childhood, etc...

Dean has grown so much in the time since John died and I want to see how that affect their relationship. Because of course John would fall back to their old dynamic and it would be comforting to Dean at first. Except he's not the same anymore. They don't hunt the same way or live the same way. Even Sam and Dean's relationship isn't the same anymore. Dean trusts Sam way more and is less obsessed with protecting/controlling him because he knows Sam is capable of making his own choices and protecting himself.

And how would John react to Castiel and the intense friendship he has with his son.s? Imagine the scene when Mary meets Cas for the first time...but with John instead.

Damn, this would be such an interesting story.

I mean, I'm kind of glad they didn't do it in the show because they probably would have done it wrong (regarding my headcanon at least). But damn, this storyline could be gold.

Does anyone know of a fic like that? Or one where John comes back in another way?

even if you're not a supernatural fan, if you've been on tumblr long enough you are, like, culturally. like cultural christianity in america except it's the cw's supernatural. you may never have watched an episode or set foot inside the tag but your regular life shuts down on their holidays and all of your world news is delivered through that point of view. something to think about

EDIT: How do we show appreciation to the volunteers? For me reading these deep dives on OTW issues u guys apparently it's been said multiple times that one of their objective statements is to have paid staff for ao3 and there's a surplus of donations they haven't used up or the other community solutions that needs to address. For those more financially literate feel free to analyze, snipe me or add to the discussion etc. linked here by deepa. They’re cool and these yearly analysis they did aint no joke.

But Seriously what can we do for these volunteers? The probable burn out from this entire fiasco would be no joke. @ao3org
