SEE YOU GET ME!
Here are some of my notes on how Kai and Cole travel :)
small and isn’t nearly as fast as her or the rest of their friends. Kai found Nya as a lone Orca mer baby and did his best to care for her even as he too was a young kid. He successfully managed to keep her alive and gained her trust and bonded with her as an older brother figure (although he nearly ran himself to the brink of death from exhaustion doing his best to gather the enormous quantity of food she needed to survive before she could safety hunt on her own)
- Kai, is an absolutely tiny guy in comparison to Lloyd and likes to hide in the folds, pockets, and hoods of Lloyd’s sweatshirts as a crustacean who enjoys small crevices and nooks to hide in. Lloyd is delighted by this, both very happy when Kai started to trust him enough to travel with him instead of Nya, but also to be delighted by the small shells, trinkets, and doodads that Kai leaves in his pockets as a thank you for their travels and as a way to show his affection towards the half mer.
- Cole, a rockfish, also enjoys hiding in Lloyd’s hoodie pockets as he’s a fairly small mer and it’s dangerous for him to be out in the open ocean without any cover. Cole is big enough that he doesn’t fully fit inside his hoodie pockets but he can fit most of his tail and lower torso inside. He holds onto the edges of the pockets fabric and will talk to Lloyd or look around while taking cover. He later requests that Lloyd wears articles of clothing with big stomach area pockets whenever he visits and Lloyd happily complies, seeing how much happier and calmer Cole is when he’s able to have an easier form of cover while hanging out with his friends.
Can you please do 13 if no one else has already :D
OH HOHO THIS IS A GOOD ONE
13) “You mean, you Don’t actually look human?!”
————
Kryptonians canonically have telepathic abilities or at the very least psionic abilities. We’ve talked about the ridiculousness of the silver age catch-all of Super-Hypnosis that Clark would use to make people forget his identity.
It’s one of the explanations DC made to explain why only a simple pair of eyeglasses made such a perfect disguise for Clark Kent the mild-mannered reporter, so no one would suspect he was Superman. Because in Superman # 330, Superman apparently unconsciously hypnotizes everyone who looks at him to making them believe that his face is different than Clark Kent’s.
This has absofuckinglutley been retconned out of existence since but consider, this helps with a fun concept and I also do not care because at one point it was cannon so that means I’m right.
Consider: It’s not just used for disguising reasons.
If it can influence how people perceive kryptonians look, maybe it could also influence people into thinking they looked more human than they actually did.
Now, one thing that’s repeated again and again in Kryptonian society is that they are upheld to the high standard of being at the “peak of physical and mental perfection.”
So, what if this mentality of needing to look at the expectation of physical perfection also transferred unconsciously?
And Because Clark does this unconsciously, that would mean that he looks just a little different to every single person who ever looked at him. So, everyone would see Superman as more of their standards of what they think “physical perfection” means. Now, this would:
Result in literally every person thinking that Superman is ridiculously attractive (this includes ace folks. I’m ace. Doesn’t mean I can’t look at someone and go “they’re hot.” because again, personal idea of physical perfection.)
Would be a great intro into a fun side plot of Jimmy being the definitive Superman photographer because not only did he get the first clear photo of Superman, the telekinetic perception doesn’t fully transfer digitally. In a true “eye of the beholder” fashion, whoever takes the image sets the image how they perceive it. So as Jimmy is the one who showed the world their first image of Superman, Jimmy’s perception of Superman would eventually become The Definitive View Of Superman as it’s just what people would expect Kal-El to look like & so his Superman form would eventually settle into the same form he took in Jimmy’s first few photos.
But that’s just when he’s in his Superman persona. When he’s Clark Kent, he is his own perception of what an “average human” looks like. His frame is still very tall & wide (I mean, there’s no getting around that. have you seen how they draw the guy? His shoulders are a mile long) but it’s filled out in a way that looks very natural for a farm boy from Kansas. Like one of those guys who don’t work out but regardless are fairly muscular & look like they can lift a cow. It so depending on the circumstance Clark looks like a gentle giant who everyone in the office asks to help them lift heavy objects or very intimidating when interrogating a corrupt CEO during an interview, using his height and large frame to tower over them in a looming manner.
In both forms he keeps the eye color, hair color, and rough build because otherwise it would look like he was clipping through objects to onlookers.
As this is an unconscious process, even Clark doesn’t know he’s doing it. He kinda knows in the back of his head but it’s just not something he’s ever registered with conscious thought.
With that in mind:
- The Justice League gets captured by a big bad.
- In addition to other security measures to prevent them from escaping, there is a machine that, while in range of it, it creates a mental block for telepaths and psionic abilities on influencing others. It is intended so J’onn cannot find the hidden location of the Justice League to free them.
- But that’s not the only effect it had.
- Suddenly Bruce is able to see what Clark Actually looks like
- But not just Bruce, Everyone in the Justice League that was trapped (take your pick of who) is now able to see the unnaturally saturated blue eyes in their real hue for the first time
- They are so bright that a camera nor any human technology or earthly pigment would ever be able to reproduce or fully capture the piercing shade of blue that stared straight through their being.
- And his too many perfectly straight and white teeth
- His eyes that now look too large to naturally sit on a human-reminiscent face
- Clark’s brow furrowed when he noticed everyone staring at him. the hinge of his jaw opened wider than what a human’s limitations would allow when he went to ask what was wrong
- the base of his voice is still just a touch too loud
-but underneath his voice is an unearthly booming quality with base just out of human perception but it still sent shivers down their spines as it resonated with the frequency of the room
- The tendons shifting under his skin bulge and twist in ways that seem like they shouldn’t fit under his skin and the placement of muscle groups visible under his suit looked like someone tried to reassemble a human from memory
- His features are just suddenly. Off. Distinctly something other.
The mental mask falls away and the Justice League is able to see the slight wrongness about clark.
It's not the fact that he's a alien that makes their necks prickle, it's the age old instinct of something that looks enough like a human but you just know it's not.
And the ensuing chaos Would Be Fucking Amazing
Because, again, Clark Himself Doesn't Know He’s Doing It.
Addon that I was going to branch off of but decided to leave out of the final cut:
I feel like Bruce would honestly be relieved. It would answer a ton of his questions. Especially seen in Anatomy of a Metahuman, Bruce expresses extreme bafflement over How The Fuck Clark is so human-like despite being an alien. The fact that this would confirm his existing theory littered in small notes on the sides of his drawings in that book that Clark uses some kind of psionics for his powers, would be a huge relief because he finally has answers to how Clark works. Now he can apply proper adjustments to his contingency plans to account for this new discovery.
I just really enjoy the idea that Clark only looks human at first glance but when you take a moment to look at him closely, you can tell that something’s distinctly off about the guy.
Let’s go, Chapter Two! Big thanks to a fellow Twitter user for helping me with the spelling and wording, since english is not my mother language :) And a huge thanks to all of you who have followed me through the first chapter already! Your feedack always makes me smile, it’s such a big motivator for this comic! I appreciate it a lot <3 Hope you will like this chapter as well, as these two idiots go through their second day at the juggling convention.
*TOPGUN Coffee Maker, 0700 Hours*
Hangman: So. Who broke it? I’m not mad. I just wanna know.
Bob: I did. I broke it.
Hangman: No. No, you didn’t. Rooster?
Rooster: Don’t look at me. Look at Phoenix.
Phoenix: What? I didn’t break it.
Rooster: Huh. That’s weird. How’d you even know it was broken?
Phoenix: Because it’s sitting right in front of us, and it’s broken.
Rooster: Suspicious.
Phoenix: No! It’s not!
Coyote: If it matters, probably not, but Daydream was the last one to use it.
Daydream: Liar! I don’t even drink that crap!
Coyote: Oh, really? Then what were you doing by the coffee cart earlier?
Daydream: I use the wooden stirrers to push back my cuticles. Everyone knows that, Coyote!
Bob: Okay, let's not fight. I broke it. Let me pay for it, Hangman.
Hangman: No! Who broke it?!
Payback: Hangman…Fanboy’s been awfully quiet.
Fanboy: Really?!
Payback: Yeah, really.
*Yelling*
Hangman, to Maverick: I broke it. It burned my hand so I punched it. I predict ten minutes from now they'll be at each other's throats with warpaint on their faces and a pig head on a stick. Good. It was getting a little chummy around here.
Au idea bi-han and maky(tmnt) swap body What would everyone react
I assume you meant Mikey.
Mikey is gonna have fun of his life once he realizes he got swapped into a body with supernatural powers and no one can convince me otherwise. That turtle loves superheroes and superpowers and for once is looking like a human so no need to hide in shadows so of course he will have a blast… at least until reality catches up with him, all of course depending on which Bi-Han we are gonna talk about, the assassin or the leader of a whole clan that may or may not be already at war with Liu Kang and Mileena.
Bi-Han, yeah, the situation could be out of his comfort especially if he lost his ice powers but I don’t think he is prone to freaking out. He will adapt quite quickly I think because in his world there is already many weird magic stuff happening, though he may be annoyed with the situation no less.
Everyone else involved though? Especially the brothers of swapped Bi-Han and Mikey? Freaking out seems like a very likely reaction. Just imagine happy, easy-going Bi-Han and ruthless, rude Mikey with cold blood eliminating enemies. Yeah, freaking out seems like a natural reaction.
Can you expand on your mermaid au? (Nothing specific, I just wanted to know more about it)
oh aBSOLUTELY! :D behold: How the Ninja pod met Zane.
Zane, a merdroid, has some issues figuring out the nuances of merfolk culture and went out of his way to find a group of merfolk to help him understand their lifestyle. Initially the ninja wanted absolutely nothing to do with Zane. He was evidently a robot sent down by the humans to collect data on them. He did seem kind and genuinely curious and wanted to make friends, but he was not to be trusted. (Merfolk have a stigma against humans still generations after a massive 100 year war between the merfolk and humans. Both species stay to their own corners of Ninjago now).
While evading a nearby feeding frenzy of sharks, Jay didn’t notice the ship above him. Zane, seeing that Jay was about to become mincemeat from the massive propellers of the ship, swam as fast as he could and pushed him out of the way, leaving himself to be left to the mercy of the propeller.
Zane, left arm ripped from his socket, torso gouged with deep scars as his wiring and protective outer casing now filled with water, damaging some of his more fragile internal components, looked at Jay as the eel Mer swam to him and was horrified at the wreckage that was this merdroid he and his friends were so distrusting of.
Jay looked at the broken mangled form of Zane as the merdroid moved his remaining arm to cup Jay’s cheek as his UI on his HUD flashed red with dozens of errors and a wall of injuries in a scrolling status report covering half of his vision.
Jay was horrified as Zane asked him simply “are you alright?” In the most concerned and heartfelt that Jay didn’t expect to hear out of a being made of metal and wires.
Jay didn’t even know this man but he cried for this being who put their own safety before his, a being they shunned and ignored and yet saved his life. Jay choked out a “yes”, his hands going to hold Zane’s hand that held his cheek.
Zane smiled, his voice now staticky and skipping like a scratched disk, “g-goo-g-good.” Before his eyes dimmed and his face went slack.
Jay barely registers the rest of his friends surrounding him, some of them also sporting tears in their eyes.
This robot was made to collect data on them and they believed it was faking its attitude to get on their good side, but looking back on it, the merdroid was genuinely wanting to get to know them. Its questions about various actions they were doing or methods of harvesting kelp and capturing food wasn’t ones of data harvesting (although it might’ve been pre programmed by its creators), but ones of genuine curiosity and out of a willingness to learn.
Zane didn’t deserve this.
Jay needed to fix his and his friends mistake.
—-
It’s been weeks since The Boat Incident. Jay is holed up in an underwater alcove nestled next to the shore. Himself, Nya, and Kai have been slowly repairing Zane’s injuries in an arduously slow task. They have no blueprints besides engraved markings on the inside of Zane’s stomach plate, presumably for situations just like this, but they had no idea how to decipher the technically complicated blueprints that went way above their realm of knowledge.
Slowly welding, repairing, and fitting Zane back together has been an extremely grueling and exhaustive process. They don’t need to fully fix him at the moment, they just need to bring him online so he can inform them how to properly repair him.
The trio finally manages to properly repair Zane’s power source, a strange contraption that lays where one’s heart should be, and turn the merdroid back on and wait with a baited breath.
Zane’s eyes flicker for a moment before turning on fully with the beautiful blue light that had been there previous to the boat accident.
They all were close to crying. After all of that hard arduous work they brought back the man that saved Jay’s life.
The android noticed the Mers and perked up, “Jay! You’re alright! Thank the heavens, I was worried I was too late.”
Zane frowned, “I believe I may have said that before. It appears my memory banks have been damaged.”
Zane’s eyes glanced down, noticing the still exposed damage of his torso, “it appears my memory banks might be the least of my worries right now.”
He looks up back at Jay, smiling with those perfect metal teeth, radiating kindness and warmth, “none the less, I’m glad you’re alright. I was worried I didn’t make it in time.”
—-
It took many more months to completely repair Zane, the collection of scrap metal to repair the merdroid was no simple task, nor was the switch from human technology to the blend of merfolk and human tech that made Zane more comparable with his underwater existence.
One of Zane’s many issues was his disconnected continuous audio and visual feeds for the researchers at Julian Laboratories. After many email chains sent from Zane (he was programmed to make weekly summary reports as an ever continuous email chain) and the researchers, they allowed him to choose what visual and audio files to send to them on a daily basis and had permission to omit data if it would harm the trust of the mers he befriended (the investors at Borg Industries were NOT happy to hear this but after hearing about the merfolk tech that enhanced the androids abilities and skills tenfold, they relented and agreed to the terms, as did the researchers but with far easier acceptance).
The researchers were initially worried that Zane wouldn’t send any information, twisting their new rules to prevent any data from coming through, but they were delighted to be sent incredibly well sorted files of mer hunting practices, interesting aquatic species may they be new species or showing interesting and unseen movements like breeding, hunting, or caring for their young.
Zane omitted personal moments with his friends, secrets they shared to him, moments they explicitly said to not record, and other bits and pieces of information he chose not to inform the researchers about.
Although it was an unorthodox way of making friends and establishing a pod for Zane to be in, it was successful. Zane could complete his mission of discovery and data collection and gain a family. That day was an incredibly harrowing one but he wouldn’t change it a bit if he could. He loves his friends and wouldn’t change it for the world
Jensen avoided being on Gotham Knights and made sure Misha wasn’t on The Winchesters. Only you delusional fans could turn that into Jensen wanting to work with Misha.
So in Yuma's Werther gala, for one of his spins, he starts it and spins a bit, then stops and spins the other way. If this was a competitive program, would this qualify as two different spins since he pauses and they go in opposite directions?
No. It can also be used as a feature to spin into the other direction, it's not easy and not many skaters are able to spin in both directions. I guess that Yuma is not using it in his competitive programs is that first his spins how he does them now work fine for him and also that changing direction of a spin is proned to lose speed for the spin, so is risky and will not award more points.
One skater that uses that in many of her programs was Satoko Miyahara. A good reason to go back and rewatch Satoko's programs are her exquisite spins and her exquite programs full of details in general. Satoko imo is the best spinner in the world!
Let the wheel decide, but out of characters you have built/reasonable? That way you're still dealing with silly team comps but nothing technically impossible
reasonable idk, i like challenges so all my characters are in (except razor and dori bc theyre not built or maxed lol)
