Well, I have already ranted on what makes this one of the best programs I have ever seen here! so I will not rant here, except say that that 4F was a textbook example of a +5 quad jump.
This is Yuma Kagiyama of Japan with his Rain, In Your Black Eyes free skate last night at the 2024 World Championships, and I woke up my parents by how loud I was clapping for every clean element.
I’m not even going to lie, that was the most insane men’s free skate I have ever witnessed. Adam jumps to the podium after being in the first warm-up group, Yuma wins his third Worlds silver, and Ilia with a flawless free skate after all the question marks this week. The emotions. The whiplash. The drama.
Lest we forget, Yuma also had a great night and this quad sal is superb. The crisp shnck of that landing edge and the commanding check out are so satisfying. You know the landing is good when the edge sounds like biting into a fresh apple.
Because to accept his own performance with such incredible grace and a smile on his face and then to have the sheer class to react to Ilia's record skate that way is one of the most amazing things I've seen in sport.
Well that was an insane competition and an insane podium.
Ilia just defied physics here. Five quads including quad axel. (RIP Nathan's 2019 world record you will be missed)
Adam from 19th to bronze medal with a backflip and two points deduction for shits and giggles.
Yuma in his supposedly recovery season with the silver medal at worlds. Also fun fact every time Yuma competed at worlds he got a silver. It's a 3/3 strike for him so far. Also that was by far the most complete performance of the night. Just gorgeous all around.
