Sharks in the Water Part 3
Part 1 Part 2
OnsenOwner!femYuu x Azul Ashengrotto
Nsfw
Azul gets to taste the befits of business relations. Also, he gets absolutely decimated by this woman.
Gentle Femdom, role reversal, soft sub/dom undertones, cuddling, cowgirl, and Overstimulation
Tumblr media
Azul was sure that he is dying. He's legs were numb, he was tired, his vision was blurry, he was dehydrated, and he was sweaty. But above all, he was sure he regretted nothing.
The weight on his chest shifted as his bedmate rose as he mumbled something incoherent. She looked a mess, with her well-managed curves pulled taunt and sticking out at odd angles. That was Azul's fault.
Tumblr media
"Such a good boy." She sighed as she pushed herself up again as she rode his cock. "My sweet Azul."
He followed along begging for more as he ran his hands along her soft hips and thighs.
She kept his legs locked to keep his hips in check so he couldn't buck into her. She relished the sound of Azul's soft whimpers and praises as he kissed her hands as caressed his cheek. She liked this side of him the most so far.
Azul felt like he was melting inside her. Her pussy was so hot and wet Azul was desperate for more.
"I love how eager you are. So cute~This suits you Zuzu~" Yuu purred as she kissed him.
It was nothing like the polite and soft kisses they shared earlier when they entered Azul's room. Their lips slotted against each other in a sloppy open mouth kiss. Yuu playfully nipped at Azul's lower lip as he almost growled in reply. Azul wasn't usually this bold made Yuu excited.
"Mmmn! Zuzu, please look here." Yuu moaned as she sat up showing off where they were connected. "Look at how much you're stretching me around you. It's so big baby~"
Azul had a lot of self control. It was something he prided himself on, but every man has a limit. This was his.
In a second Yuu felt her back hit the bed. Azul's gentle hold on her hips tightened like a vise. It's time like this that Yuu remembers that Azul was an octopus.
This time Yuu whines when Azul pulls her onto him.
"What's wrong Mistress? I thought you loved my cock." Azul taunted as he lifted her hips to get a better angle to pound into her.
Yuu nodded as she covered her mouth to stifle the wet moans that escaped her. He felt her face burning from the obscene sounds that they were making now. Someone could probably hear Azul's hips slapping against hers, the half-finished praises they made as their brains tried to make through their sexual haze, or the wet sloshing of her pussy as Azul eagerly stirred up her insides.
"Yuu, please. I going to-" Azul moaned as he intertwined their fingers. "I'm sorry, I need to-"
Yuu knew Azul couldn't hold on much longer as he felt Azul try to pull out. Instantly Yuu locked her legs around him and pulled him back in.
"Yuu! Fuck! If you do that I'll-mmhnn!" Azul's tries fell on deaf ears as he was milked for everything he could give.
"Shh, it's okay baby. Just let go." Yuu whispered bringing a hand to her lover's hair.
Azul nestled himself into the crook of Yuu's neck as he gasped breathlessly. It was overwhelming, he had never felt anything like this.
"Good boy." Yuu murmured still lovingly stroking Azul's hair as he came down from his climax.
Azul responded with peppering Yuu's shoulder with kisses. Until those kisses turned into nips and hickeys.
"Azul?" Yuu asked.
One look in his eyes and Yuu could see the glazed-over and sex-drunk expression on his face.
"ꪑ꠸ᦓꪻ᥅ꫀᦓᦓ~♡" Azul pleaded so cutely Yuu couldn't resist" Can we please do it again?"
Yuu knew that no matter how cute he was being right now he would turn it around on her. There was something dangerous behind those eyes. Unfortunately, she didn't hesitate to agree.
Tumblr media
"Boss, the Matron is here~" Floyd called letting Yuu into his office.
Yuu was as lovely as always, dressed in her seafoam kimono and jade bracelet. Unfortunately, her face was very stern which meant Azul was in trouble.
"If this is about adding spa coupons to the new promotional drinks deal, I'm not sorry." Azul stated firmly but cautiously as Yuu crossed her arms and glared.
"No, that was fine. This is about that little stunt you pulled in my office yesterday." Yuu's face turned red at the memory.
Azul's becoming more insatiable every day. This time he requested a meeting only for him to use it to get his fill of her.
"Oh? You weren't complaining. You love it when I'm under you. Besides you hardly have room to talk after you interrupted my meeting to sit on my lap and wouldn't stop moving against me." Azul never failed to keep score and knew Yuu was just as bad as him.
"You canceled our dinner date just to meet with some poor soul who wanted a deal." Once again she began her pouty routine to get what she wants.
"I'm sorry but you know I must do what is needed. But I'm still generous and will make it up to you." Azul pulled a blue velvet box from his desk and offered it to his lover.
Yuu didn't hesitate to open it to find a lovely string of flawless pearls. A new necklace.
"No ring?" She purred playfully with a smile on her face.
"I'd like to keep you on the hook a bit longer. Built up the suspense." Azul smirked.
"Well, all is forgiven. As long as you take me to that new restaurant that opened." She said as she handed Azul the necklace and gestured to her neck.
Azul complied as he hooked the clasp aroumd her neck.
"Gladly, we deserve a break from work."

Things I LOVED from NATLA Episode 5 - Spirited Away
Katara creating a water version of the earth disks!
Small moment, but Sokka and Aang don't jump until Katara is there and grabs their hands to lead them off in the jump onto Appa
Love that Momo's the one who picks up the acorn to give to Katara - he's so cute!
Katara calling on Gran Gran's teachings <3
"Seeds for the future, not past mistakes" - bringing back up the themes around needing to let go of past guilt so you can step into the future
Big brother Sokka 😭😭😭😭
Pipenpadalopsikopolis!!!
Zuko is such a sassy dick to Lt. Jee XD but like, kinda deserved atm as a girl with ice is kinda, really, something that should raise some flags.
But damn, Jee's face - it makes the next episode all the more satisfying
"Water the most promising seed" ooooohhhhh
"Not self-serving flattery and coy whipers" oooohhh BBUUUURRRNNNNNN
Though it burns all the more as we know that children want the approval of their mentors/parents and it's unlikely Azula has ever gotten that organically, so she feels the need to prompt it.
tHiN pLaCeS????? Sorry, Bruce from Dungeons of Drakkenheim has just primed me to fear that phrase and what it will bring.
Jumpscare where I really thought Sokka had just been yoinked into the Spirit World by that tree branch XD
Aang and Sokka bickering because Sokka can't stop talking and Aang is trying to concentrate - love the group dynamic here
Sokka's little "sshhhhhhh" in the back
Katara practicing her forms!!!
Blue Aang!!
Sokka being absolutely not here for a Spirit World journey and Katara quickly accepting it and just enjoying the ride
"When have I ever caused trouble?" 🙄 "When indeed." 😐
The most AWKWARD and NOT SLICK questioning by Zuko 😩 failing to smoothly slide the money pouch over the counter, just…he's SOOO BAD at being 'nonchalant'! He wants to just scream at you and demand you obey his orders, damn it!!!
Just Dallas' whole performance here - so fucking funny
Pirate mention! Canyon guide!! Stopped the volcano from erupting!!!
All those side quests get nice little mentions <3
Iroh's little run as he chases after Zuko throwing his tantrum 😭
JUUUUUUNNNNEEEEEEE!!!!! NYYYYYLLAAAAA!!!!!!!!!
Omg perfect. So perfect. Perfection. Gorgeously perfect. Did I mention perfect?
Zuko and Iroh's little slap fight XD
June noticing Iroh is cute 🙌
And Zuko's disgust at that 😂
Love Aang always mentioning Gyatzo and all he taught Aang - and Katara really wanting to soak in the knowledge
I like that they brought the entire Gaang into the spirit world here so we could have a natural in-road to deep character work
WON SHI TOOOOONNNNNNNNNGGGG!!!
Nice birdie!!!!
Also great touch with only Aang being able to understand him here, humans just can't
Pretty eye shot!!
Azula's blue fire!!!!!
Really like the choice to let us see her progression to the blue flame - more character development is always a good thing in my book
"Everyone knows you're perfect" "That's not good enough" - smash cut to Zuko
SOOOOO GOOOODDD - seeding her fear that if she doesn't prove herself adequately, her father will treat her like he did Zuko
Showing not telling, people! This is what that means!!!
Zuzu!! Being disgusted - love it
Love Iroh trying to seed his lessons in with pai sho anecdotes
I'm sorry, this scene is hilarious and I cannot unsee it being Iroh trying to prep Zuko for the news that he and June are a thing XD "I know it's unexpected, and she's much younger, but open up your mind to new ideas! There's much you (I) can learn from a dommy mommy."
Again, reinforcing that Zuko has a strong sense of right and wrong - right now, that's leading him down the path of following the Fire Nation's rules, but that very same integrity will be what makes him change sides
Ugh, Iroh's lessons wrapped in pai sho terminology are soooo gooooddd
Creeeeeepy spirit world!!
HEEEIIIII BBAAAIIIII!!!
Who's a cutie patootie panda bear?? YOU ARE!!!!
Oh no, Sokka!!! He went flying.
Suspicious 3-tailed fox!
Her talk about pain right here is so poignant not only for this storyline, but the future one with the ocean spirit
"Do you always make jokes when you don't want to talk about something?" - cutting right to the heart of a lot of Sokka's humor as a coping mechanism
Just… everything with Katara's spirit vision
Her getting to see her mom again and hug her, the women joking around about braiding and Kya encouraging Katara with her waterbending
The absolute gut-wrenching horror as Katara knows what's about to happen, the viewer knows what's about to happen, but the helplessness you feel as you have to watch it play out
Katara trying to save her mom but not being strong enough - it's so well done and we see why the trauma is so very deep when it comes to her and waterbending
Omg Koh's introduction was sooooo terrifying
The sounds, the way he senses despair - it's everything I love about the spirit world
Hakoda!!! DX
Bato!!!!!
I like how we're getting to see that Sokka's feelings of inadequacy as a leader and warrior aren't unfounded - he DID struggle, it didn’t come naturally
I don't blame Hakoda in this moment - he knows the war is coming and he's going to have to leave Sokka in charge - he knows it's not fair - he knows it's an impossible situation, and he's desperately trying to exert some control over the uncontrollable
It makes sense that he'd want Sokka to be magically perfect, that way he could feel marginally better about abandoning him and the village - it's not like he has a choice to stay, everyone is in impossible situations and wishing your kid could be the perfect leader when you know it's going to be forced on them anyways is totally rational
Love that Aang immediately clocks the vision as not real
Despite wanting nothing more than to go see his home and people again, he's a master of the spiritual side of his nature - he knows how to rein it in.
It hurts all the more when we get to Gyatzo and there's the initial distrust - completely founded
Koh's lair!!!
Creepy centipede boiii
Love their chat and I like to think that Aang's past lives subtly let him know not to show emotions with Koh
The whole situation around Koh's face that opens and closes - thanks, I hate it.
It's well done. And I hate it. Please get it away from me. I do not like. Please, kill it with fire. Thank you.
But Gyatzo!!! He waited for Aang for 100 years!!!!!!!!!
I'm gonna say it again - everything with Gyatzo is pure gold. I'm so glad they expanded more with him being Aang's first mentor, even after his death
Gyatzo trying to relieve Aang of his guilt over not being there for the fire nation attack ): It's something Aang really needed to hear and I'm glad it was someone who was present who told him that, not someone just trying to make him not feel as sad.
Aang leaving Appa and Momo in charge of watching over Katara and Sokka!!! So sweet
Gyatzo's monologue is great - how sometimes it feels like we'll always be alone, the only thing keeping you company is your own pain
It ties into every single character of the series and it's such a great through line - they're all suffering in different ways. They NEED people (even Azula)

Hey Flameo. How do you think Mai and Zuko were as parents? I'm curious about your headcanons.
* My headcanon is that Zuko freaked out during Mai's pregnancy and Izumi's birth. Due to his trauma with Ozai and intenso fear of ending up messing jis daughter up, like Ozai messed him and Azula.
* With the help of Azula (redeemed, but still retained her characteristics in a mellowed down manner), the Gaang, Ty Lee, Ursa and Iroh. He gains the courage to start bonding with his daughter.
* Zuko is very soft and and prone to spoil her. Mai is the strict parent.
*They're less moody and have a healthy relationship.
*Mai taught Izumi how to read and write, Zuko taught her basic math, history and Art appreciation. But they ultumately decided to send her to a school with both peasants and royals.
* Druk is her protector and partner in crime.
* Azula is a tough-love aunt, she loves her niece, but won't coddle her as "pathetic Zuzu, you're being too soft."
hey, i like your hcs!!
i have so so many hcs posted about parents maiko and izumi. they are filled with grammar mistakes (because i wrote them like two years ago) and also they are nauseously cute (i don't write these things anymore lol).
i'll leave them here:
maiko and druk before izumi
some domestic fluff
mai's pregnancy, mai's pregnancy but angsty + my fic illuminated that i deeply love to this very day, pregnant mai
izumi's birth, izumi's birth but different
toddler izumi
zuko and izumi, zuko and izumi main hc
mai and izumi , mai and izumi part 2
little izumi hc
maiko family fluff
izumi & druk 1, izumi & druk 2
izumi, kya and bumi
izumi and love confessions
again, sorry for mistakes! also there are lot of warnings there so be careful <3

Jade is so romantic and so sick in love in this fic. Also, I hope the comedic moments between Jade and Reader are genuinely cute and funny. >:D

🔥Azula and makeup
Oooh what an interesting topic! I switched to my laptop for this one I was like "I have too much to say I can't be on my phone" LOL
I have two categories of thought here & I do think there's value in separating those categories
Canon & character design
Let's start with the obvious. Azula is an anime - I'm sorry, it's western media someone will yell at me for saying that - a cartoon villain. It's just part of her trope/design that she's conventionally attractive / has red lipstick/eyeliner sharp enough to kill a man etc. If you've ever seen any piece of media ever, you HAVE to get that. So, to an extent, the conventionally attractive design is just kinda...there for obvious reasons.
However, because Azula is a PRINCESS & we do see how choices like hair & clothing are symbolically important - this doesn't mean it's entirely a waste of time to analyze the importance of makeup for Azula's character.
Azula has to look presentable at all times as part of her political role. We see her with lipstick & makeup even at a very young age in flashbacks (& YES the flashbacks are canon please don't start that discourse on my posts again omg) & that's sad in a way but it makes perfect sense considering her important role in the court.
In fact, the only time (IIRC) that we see Azula without makeup is when Zuko interrupts her at night when she is trying to sleep! Oh, & maybe in the scene where she is visiting the spa (& Zuko interrupts her! - lol damn, Zuzu leave her alone (jk). These are domestic scenes when she is alone / sleeping / getting ready to become more presentable. In general, Azula treats appearance with the utmost importance.
It's highly relevant that Azula's appearance begins to fall apart during her breakdown. Her lipstick is sloppy. She cuts her bangs. Her outward character design reflects her inner turmoil.
Okay that's all I have for now
PART TWO
2. My personal subjective headcanons & thoughts
It's been a while but I remember seeing a post about how Fire Nation military personnel were rare & Azula, Mai, & Ty Lee were going against FN gender roles. IDK the post was a whole meta but I couldn't find it now, so sorry. The point is - Azula is canonically a freaking military general/diplomatic mastermind AS WELL as a proper princess!
I personally love the idea that Azula has a masculine side - not trans per se, but I guess it could be if that's your HC but it's not mine - that enjoys boy clothes, suits, no makeup, etc. She likes to embrace that side of her gender. But, she's never felt comfortable or had the room to do so under Ozai's reign & expectations. I personally headcanon Azula as queer/sapphic whatever & I like the idea that as well as sexuality, once she gets away from Ozai she could start to explore gender a bit!
At the same time, I think that Azula does love her feminine side. In my stories, I tend to focus on her exploring different types of fashion. I feel as if in a modern AU she would have strong opinions on different high-end brands. I just know that she would have a huge collection of amazing dresses.
I feel that Azula going without makeup or with less makeup would be a huge step for her (in any universe) because she is SO used to everyone seeing her all put together. Azula starting to become more relaxed about her appearance would be - in my opinion - a HUGE step for her in healing & beginning to become more comfortable with herself.
ANYWAY
sorry, this literally went beyond "Azula & makeup." I REALLY started to ramble lmao sorry I am just sitting in bed drinking my lil glass of cabernet sauvignon watching How I Met Your Mother & getting way too passionate about Azula & gender -- I'm done rambling for now tho LOL xD
TYSM for asking <3

could you do some Sebastian and/or penny head cannons of their confessions or first dates with the farmer? (so sorry if you’ve already done a request similar to this or gotten this request) thanks sm!! :D I love ur blog <3
Hey hey👋 Don't be afraid to ask questions anon, if I've written similar headcanons before, I'll just throw off the link) But this is something new, so enjoy 😃
Sebastian:
Sebastian decides to take Farmer on a date to the Zuzu city gameroom where you can play arcade games. The poor fellow is worried, because this is in fact his first official date with the Farmer. Maybe outwardly he will not show it, but inside he is seething with worries.
They both rode on a Sebby motorcycle, because the overcrowded buses would not suit either of them. And what could be better than a trip by your own motorcycle with a full sense of freedom and a breath of wind on the skin during the trip.
And here they are - in the arcade machines room. The pockets are stuffed with tokens and they finally enter. There are not many people here, which makes Sebastian very happy, because he wanted to show the Farmer his favorite games. Most often, the Farmer and Sebby stop at fantastic shooters and fighting games for two. Although Sebastian is not a fan of games like Dance Dance Revolution, but if the Farmers want, he will also dance with them, even though it will look ridiculous. The Farmer claims that they dance badly too. "You remember my last moves at the Flower dance? It was just embarrassing" "But still it was fun."
It's been 5 hours since they spent their last token. Wow, time flies faster when you're having so much fun. Before the trip back to the Valley, the Farmer and Sebastian decided to have a bite to eat at a cafe nearby. But before going to the exit, the Farmer kissed Sebastian and thanked him for such a wonderful date. Sebby kissed them quickly as well, and they looked at each other so tenderly that each of them didn't move and wished this moment would last forever.
But the Farmer's stomach growled, which made Sebastian laugh, and he still insisted that they hurry up and order something to eat.
Penny:
The constant teaching of children and the preparation of educational material affect the condition of poor Penny - she looks very tired lately. Of course, she likes to teach children and she considers this her recognition, but lack of sleep and not too quiet environment in the form of her mother, who watches TV actively and with loud comments at night, do not help the young teacher too much.
So the Farmer insisted that she take the day off and invite her to the Farm for a little picnic. Penny, at first hesitant, but nevertheless accepted this tempting offer. She wanted to prepare some picnic dishes, but the Farmer told her that they would do everything themselves.
At their appointed meeting, the weather favors both of them: a warm spring, a sunny day, birdsong, the murmur of a calm river. Penny and the Farmer are sitting on a blanket, and there are delicious meals and snacks nearby. They both hold cups of green tea in their hands and chat about nature, family, and more. No rush, no worries for Penny - just rest, tea and good company, her best friend.
Friend...
Penny, overwhelmed with feelings, softly and unconsciously whispered "I love you." She immediately fell silent when she realized what she had said. Her face flushed as she realized that the Farmer had also heard what she had said. But before starting to apologize a thousand times, the Farmer replied: "Then you are incredibly lucky that I feel the same way about you."
If Penny didn't know before that Farmer had been flirting with her for a long time and this picnic was an invitation to a date, now Penny knows for sure. And still cannot believe in her happiness.

hihi tell me a bit about ori :3
hiiii so sorry for the late late reply i wanted to wait till i got on my laptop at home so i can format it well (also it took me 3 hours to write this aaaaaaaah) so here it goes! first of all thank you so much for askingggggggggggggg !!
Ori was 29 when they moved to stardew valley , they feel like they wasted their teens and 20's working for Joja corp back at zuzu city which they regret immensely
Ori as a kid used to love going to the nearby small forest and explore all day but then the forest was cut down to make way for a joja warehouse building since then Ori didn't really go out except to the zuzu mall with friends ( Gwen from the zuzu city mod) their fav past time was to hangout around the video games merch and comics store to observe the Hot gamerz and nerdz that came in and out of that store ( yk typical teen stuff lol)
Ori's parents are divorced, they live with their mother,and ever since the divorce they stopped being the outgoing person they always were, they decided to take a part time job at a joja mart nearby and then just continued to work for them since then
they moved to stardew valley at the urging of their mom after they opened grandpa's letter because they almost didn't take the offer they thought it was too much work and too late for them to change careers but their mom believed they could do it and wanted them to leave Joja
i headcannon grandpa in this save to have been a very good adventurer along side being a farmer basically THE original Min/Max farmer before my farmer comes along lol and he is best freinds with both Lewis and Marlon
so when Ori moved to stardew valley and was greeted by everyone so enthusiastically it actually scared them and they spent all spring barely leaving their farm but once they needed to go to the mines they started running into Marlon
Marlon's gruffy attitude reminded Ori of their grandpa alot which made them very sad and nostalgic for their grandpa, by then they had started to want to become more like him so they went out to fight monsters like he did but of course Ori was not prepared so they had alot of near death experiences only to be saved by the town's residential doctor Harvey
Marlon took note of whats happening and offered Ori a sword and a place in the adventures guild, secretly they thought Ori reminded them of their grandpa trying to balance the whole world on their shoulders and thought he could atleast try to help so he trains them to use the sword at night at the adventures guild
since Ori leaves the adventure guild late at night and runs into Sebastian alot, they are slowly becoming good friends!
ever since Ori visited the wizard and drank that ...uh... essence of the forest potion they find themselves wandering the deep forest in stardew valley over and over again!
im gonna stop here because if i keep going imma need another 3 hours or so lol
once again thank you for asking !

Girl say it louder FOR THE ONES AT THE BACK!! Azul is not a crybaby and his confidence is NOT faked C'MON!!!
Funny thing, someone told me they'd never seen an azul stan such as me who adored him sm, BUT I'M SORRY YOU NEED TO BE GETTING A CROWN FOR THIS, I am literally an amateur in front of you.
Also, I read that anon ask of yours where you both admitted to almost crying with azul, and now I feel kinda pathetic to say it hyped me up and I was disappointed it ended so quickly 💀 (also I didn't even realize he was crying until I logged onto tumblr wtf) it was more like "he's crying? is he? OMG AZUL IS CRYING?!?! LESSGO LMAO THIS IS INTERESTING" mind you I ADORE azul and I did even before book 1, but I just have this tendency to insult my favourite characters 💀 love-hate relationships <3
SPEAKING OF AZUL, I USED THAT BITCH IN MY ENGLISH DESCRIPTIVE WRITING IN MY EXAM. Yeah I used his personality, and mostro lounge's interior, and an angry client and some contracts bs💀 except I switched the tweels for a blue eyed woman u h. I ALSO NAMED THE AZUL CHARACTER JONES TF 😭 and he also had azuls glasses AND I WANTED TO ADD MORE BUT my English teacher isn't a boomer and there is a HIGH chance she'd played or HEARD of twst, so I didn't wanna embarrass myself. Now I hope azul charms my paper and I get a good grade sksjsjsj
Tumblr media
[Reply to this reblog!]
I am so sorry this is so late HAHAHA BUT FKDFKNSDFKLSDF THANK YOU FOR THE SUPPORT and trust me, this may not be the last time I'll talk about this because who knows, something might inspire me to make a third post. But I won't try to bog this blog down either.
Anyway, onto the main anon, kjfsdnfkjdskjnjksdnjkdskf a lot of people have said that to me as well xDD I think I've gotten a couple of anon asks about it. I can't help but be loud about Azul here, he's my joy and light. But hey, loudness doesn't equate to how much one adores someone, I'm sure you adore Azul a lot as well (and please bug me about it so we can scream together, I need more Zuzu stannies)
As for the anon ask, ok I can't find it right now HDFKFJKSFKSD but noo don't worry too much about it. I know some Azul stans who also reacted the same way xD first impressions are first impressions, after all, plus not everyone will react the same way. Like ,, I love Riddle, but I was laughing when he cried the first time because the sounds sounded funny 💀 What matters more is understanding and the willingness to understand what's happening, why a character acted the way they did, and how they are as a person in general.
LMAOOOO good job anon, hope you got the grade you wanted. I've also used Azul in so many of my school outputs 💀💀💀 like, I used him once in a 17k word fic that I submitted in class HAHAHHAHAAHAHAHHAHA I never got my grade for it but hey . it was worth it. I have a novel now that I could potentially publish if I just revise and edit.

Hi darling, I’m so sorry about your zuzu. Ollie got a new blanket today and he would like to show you :
Tumblr media
If you feel like answering - which Pedro boys would have dogs? 😘😘😘
Thank you laura, and hello lovely lovely ollie! He looks so cozy!! I think
frankie is absolutely a dog guy. Like through and through that man talks to his dog he takes him for drives in his truck he gives him table scraps and lets him lay on the couch. his dog is the epitome of mans best friend cause He loves him so much
I like to imagine Dave york with a dog, but it's a little fluffy white dog (like zuzu :') because his daughters wanted a cute little puppy instead of a big trained guard dog and now he has some little yippy thing he has to talk on a walk every morning before work because he can't say no to his wife and daughters.
idk if dogs exist in starwars but yall saw when Din called to the massiff in season two and it trotted right on over? and he gave him some scritches? he deserves a big massiff that watches over him and grogu like a scaly Labrador.
Tumblr media
I think Joel would love a dog. Goes in with the thing of him wanting a ranch, he deserves a pup he can train to protect his flock and herd the sheep in at his side <3 Sarah probably begged him for a dog growing up and he said that she could walk the neighbor's as training to see if she could handle the responsibility of taking care of one.
So I know climate-wise it's unrealistic to think of there being dogs in dorne- but (and ive talked about this with @thesadvampire ) I like the idea of dorne being home to a type of hyena type animal called a "dornish laughing hound" that are seen as scavengers and NOT pets but then oberyn's baratheon wifey is gifted a pup as a wedding day gift and she loves him so very much. He gets a jewled collar and is eating sweet meats and fruit from her hand every day but will bite anybody else. Oberyn is not happy about this arrangement in any way but can't say anything cause that's his wife's dog so he just has to live with the fact that this feral puppy that will grow into a giant hound is now chewing his shoes and sleeping in his spot in the bed.
I think marcus pike is just a companionship guy. I can see him with cats and/or dogs. Both of them fit into his fantasy of having a family to come home to so he loves them both very much :)
If Maxwell lord has a dog it's going to be a very fancy high breed he has professionally trained (or maybe it's the pitbull of the seamstress he and his wife are in love with hehe)

'Headband'
Well, it's not a secret that I don't like this episode, both for its Kataang moments and because the whole school dance gig is just a blatant rip-off of Footloose. And while I suppose this one really is the first episode in the show where Katara's behavior towards Aang can't be explained in any other way than a slight crush, I feel like the whole Kataang romance is immediately undermined by no follow-up at all, and Katara once again going back to remain very passive and/or reluctant participant in this 'romance', totally at odds with how she was with Jet. So, no, Kataang is still no bueno for me.
I thought it was interesting how it was the moral backbone of the group, aka Katara, who literally charged ahead to be the first to steal Fire Nation clothes. It's a little weird to me, but not because I think Katara would be above stealing. I think she is above stealing from the poor. The next episode 'The Painted Lady' pretty much establishes her concern for the downtrodden, if it hasn't been established before (Imprisoned and other instances). Also, Katara has never placed much importance on going out of her way to appear pretty, so I don't see why that would suddenly be a factor. Yes, there are practical reasons for needing Fire Nation clothing, but I expected the other characters to show initiative here, not Katara.
Also, I'm not the first to make this observation, but Book 3 certainly has more instances of sexualizing the girls of atla in a way that's completely absent from Books 1&2. I'm not going to preach how it's terrible and harmful - I don't think it was that egregious in this show, but it certainly is there for me to notice. And I certainly notice how cute Katara looks in her Fire Nation outfit. <3
I don't really  care about Aang's adventures at school, but I do care for it at least providing some firsthand insight into Fire Nation culture and education (indoctrination) system. (I do love Sokka's reaction to Aang telling the group that he's going back  to the school the next day.) I don't think anyone should be surprised that the Fire Nation history lessons are full of propaganda. Isn't t that the case literally everywhere in RL? Don't tell me the way US history is being taught in classrooms isn't completely warped and full of myths.
Zuko's visit with Iroh was a painful encounter. Of course, Zuko is angry with himself first and foremost, even as he projects it all onto his uncle, I understand all of that, but still... I feel like this tantrum deserves at least some Jerk Points. 20 it is. I don't think I've felt this sorry for Iroh ever, not even in the Tales of Ba Sing Se.
I do love the way Aang humiliated On Ji's 'boyfriend'. This Hide kid is an absolute asshole throughout the entire episode, so I'm going to slap him with 80 Jerk Points. Realistically, his days as a school bully are now over and he would become the butt of all jokes. School hierarchy does not forgive something like this.
Okay, the redeeming parts of this episode: Wang Fire! And Sapphire Fire, of course. Can I just point out how natural the Water spouses siblings are in these roles without hinting at any implications? Good, I'm glad we're clear on that.  Although nobody should be surprised that Katara is a natural acting like Aang's mom, she's played that role for 42 episodes.
Also, just so we're clear, I don't think Azula is interrupting Maiko because she's jealous and thirsty for her brother. Annoying siblings cock-block each other all the time, of course Azula would do that to Zuko. Also, once again, Zuko implicates himself with Azula having to expend zero effort. Ah, you make it too easy, Zuzu. Also, I believe Azula when she warned Zuko here - she literally had no ulterior motive to warn him. Zuko gets 20 Jerk Points for not thanking his sweet and considerate sister.
Lastly, Zuko's meeting with the Combustion Man, essentially hiring an assassin to murder the Gaang is... pretty damn dark, and by FAR the worst that Zuko has done, at least in my eyes. I can't go lightly on this. I have to go with at least 200 Jerk Points to Zuko.
All in all, a weak episode and definitely going onto the Bad rank of the tier list.
Jerk Points for Book 3:
Zuko - 290 Hide - 80 King Kuei - 60 Aang - 20
Damn Zuko, surging into that lead like a king!

Bye-bye!
Tumblr media
hi everyone!
I'm sure you all saw this coming with the lack of writing and the constant absence, but i'm putting this blog to rest!
It's been really fun and I enjoyed writing and posting what little I managed to put out, but I know that it's time for me to put away the keyboard and for it to come to an end </3
I started this blog during a point in time when I was hyperfixating on YTTD, but its turn in the cycle of interests has passed ^^;
I didn't get to finish all of the requests in my inbox! I'm really sorry about that > <
Even though I'm not into YTTD anymore, I still love yandere content & writing it, so don't think you're getting rid of me yet!
I'll still be here! Just writing about different things, and maybe...under a different name? :0
I'm not exactly being sneaky with it, but it's up to you to figure it out from here if you really wanna get that invested!
Bye-bye everyone <3

Should Toph have taken more time to fully accept Zuko as an ally and as a friend?
First, let's remember one thing: they kind of had no choice but to accept Zuko as their ally. Like Toph herself pointed out, Aang NEEDED a firebending teacher, and there was no way they'd find someone else by that point. Desperate times, desperate meassures, and all that crap.
But did she becomes his friend too quickly? Not really, because Toph is really the odd one out when it came to opinions on Zuko for a few specific reasons.
1 - Toph has A LOT in common with Zuko, be it in regards to temperament, trauma and background. They're both proud, stubborn, and difficult to deal with at times. They both show affection in unusual ways, with Toph punching the people she likes in the arm REALLY hard, and Zuzu's smoothest line in the show being "You're so beautiful when you hate the world." Zuko was disowned by his father due to being seen as someone who would bring nothing but shame, and Toph's family straight pretended she didn't exist, which just HAS to hurt, especially for a child. Iroh became a bit of a helicopter parent to Zuko in book 2, just like Toph's parents did to her since she was born, and it led to both of them rebeling - and in book 3 we see Toph writting to her mom and Zuko trying to find Iroh, both clearly struggling with some guilt. When Zuko didn't speak up against a cruel, inhumane plan, out of fear of being punished, he thinks about how he was the perfect prince, the son his father wanted, but he wasn't himself. Toph straight up had to live a double life to be able to both please her parents, while also not ignoring her own wishes and needs. For God's sake, they're both from rich, powerful families, had alter egos, and were thiefs. Toph had WAY more in common with Zuko than with the rest of the Gaang.
2 - She wasn't part of the group in book 1, when Zuko was being openly hostile to the Gaang nearly every single episode. She didn't even know he existed until "The Chase", and she sort of heard about him for "the first time" twice. First as an enemy, then as just a troubled teenager that wanted to find himself, and felt he had to leave his loving uncle behind to do so - and she got that version of the story from someone she clicked with way faster than she did with the Gaang.
3 - Toph was there when Zuko lost his shit sering Azula attack Iroh, to the point that even Katara, who we KNOW thought of Zuko as "the face of the enemy", offered to help, so she knew that, yes, Zuko has a heart. She also knew, for a fact, that he was being honest when he said that he wanted to teach Aang forebending, that he had freed Appa, that he wanted to be their friend (and Aang confirmed that he DID offer Zuko that option, back when they had to join forces against Zhao), and that he was willing to help even as a prisoner, and that he WAS sorry for sending Combustion Man after them - though that last one was, naturally, so serious of a confession that Toph DID get mad and not object (at first) when her friends told Zuko to fuck off.
4 - While Toph is not nearly as forgiving as Aang, she doesn't REALLY hold grudges. She was the one proposing a truce to Aang after their petty fight so they'd talk things out, she only needed a nice conversation with Iroh to calm down enough to give being in the Gaang another shot (even with Katara's comment on her blindness, which was waaaay out of line), she went from being annoyed at Sokka for not thanking her for helping save him and Suki to trying to kiss him in just five minutes, she didn't complain in the SPA about people touching her feet even though she explicitly warned Katara that this was her one condition to agree to going to said SPA, she dealt with her friends constantly forgetting that she was blind with nothing more than some sarcastic comments, she forgave Aang for lashing out at her when she couldn't protect Appa because she knew he was going through a lot, she never said a single bad thing about Suki even though she clearly had a thing for Sokka, she was talking about how Katara genuinely loved her for who she was right after they spent an entire episode bickering, she wrote a letter to her mom so they could try mending their relationship, she was instantly cool with the guys she had fought mere months before just because they said they wanted to help out against the Fire Nation, and, yes, she forgave Zuko super fast when he burned her feet AND when he was super rude to her while rejecting the thought of their life changing field trip (I personally still hold a grudge against the writers for that).
I say Toph warming up to Zuko as fast as she did makes total sense - and that she deserved that life changing field trip.

🎄✨Is Mulder's holiday prediction about to turn Scully's season upside down? Dive into 'Zuzu's Petals' for the perfect mix of mystery and holiday magic. Cozy up – because it's not the holidays without a little schmoop reading! 📖❄️ www.SkinnersBriefs.com
Zuzu’s Petals by PR
FBI Headquarters
Assistant Walter Skinner’s Office 3:47 p.m., Friday, Dec. 18th
"The unusual circumstances surrounding the man's death certainly seem in accord with your field of expertise," Assistant Director Skinner declared and sat forward placing the file on his desk. “Do you agree, Agent Scully?”
Scully hesitated, blinking as if to clear away a distracting thought. "Yes, it does—I mean, yes, I agree, sir."
Skinner considered her. “Do you have any reservations about doing the autopsy?”
"No, sir," she replied, a glance exchanged with Mulder revealing a hint of bemusement on his part.
"You appear distracted, Agent Scully," Skinner continued, his eyes in a critical squint, his tone clipped with a familiar impatience. "This may not be the most exciting case, but your full attention is still required since you will be doing the autopsy."
"No, sir-- Yes." She bit her lip. "Sorry, sir."
Skinner snapped the file shut. "Monday. Detroit. County coroner. That will be all."
In the corridor outside Skinner's office, Mulder quickened his steps to catch up with Scully, who moved with an uncharacteristic briskness. "What's the matter?" he inquired, drawing level with her. "You were a million miles away in there.”
She slowed her pace, coming to a halt as she rubbed at her forehead with visible tension. A harried breath escaped her lips. "I've got a lot on my mind," she admitted, a trace of weariness in her voice. "My brother's coming into town, and my mother's Christmas party is tonight." As if a sudden realization struck her, she turned to Mulder. "Are you going to be there tonight? Have you decided?"
Mulder squinted at her; his mouth pulled into a grimace. "Bill’s coming into town, right?” his tone carrying a playful sarcasm, as if the answer were self-evident.
Scully reacted embarrassed. Her brother and Mulder did not have a repport fit for warm and cheery holiday gatherings. "Sorry," she exhaled and closed her eyes as she shook her head. "I don’t know what I was thinking—”
“It’s fine, Scully. I’d rather be sadly missed than a fly in the eggnog at your mother’s party.” Mulder assured her.
She nodded, appreciating his assurance, and understanding. "Another time I hope,” she told him. “Uh, but right now,” she transitioned away from the awkwardness, looking at her watch, “I need to go get my car from fleet services before those guys take off early."
"I won’t keep you from Fleet Service, the pulsating core of FBI automotive enigmas.” He quipped and started for the elevator. He half turned back, telling her, “You may even meet the love of your life down there, I wouldn’t want to prevent that."
Scully arched an eyebrow, a bemused smile playing on her lips. "The love of my life in fleet services?"
Stepping into the elevator, Mulder continued his playful repartee. "Tis the season of miracles, Scully, well, at least according to the commercials. I can see it now— a whirlwind romance among the sockets, pledges exchanged amidst the wrenches, and a burgeoning family of little doctors and grease monkeys, unraveling mysteries and conducting vehicular exorcisms."
“I’ll be sure you’re invited to the wedding.” Scully's tone dripped with mock cheerfulness.
“I’ll wear my best overalls.” He called back to her as the elevator doors closed.

Fleet Services FBI Headquarters
"What?" Scully exclaimed, her eyes widening beneath brows knitted in mock outrage. "You can't be serious."
The service technician looked up from the clipboard in his hand. "Uh, yeah," he said, hesitating with a touch of apprehension. "I'm sorry, but it's going to be the beginning of next week before I can conjure up another vehicle. If you'd graced us with your presence a tad earlier, maybe, but it's almost five, and there are no cars for the weekend."
"Then I need my car back. The brakes aren't that bad," she sneered.
"They're bad enough, Agent, and regulations won't allow me to let you to take the vehicle. I'm sorry I can't release it to you until the master cylinder is replaced."
"But you said it was just a leak," she countered, emphasizing her statement with an ineffectual poke of her index finger on the service check-in dais.
The service technician took a cautious step back, lifting his hands palms up in surrender. "I'm sorry."
"You've got to have another car around here," Scully insisted, scanning the fleet services garage. She spotted another service technician getting into her car to pull it away. "Hey, wait!" she called after the man behind the wheel, breaking into an impromptu jog.
"Agent Scully, you can't have it back!" the first technician proclaimed, following her anxiously.
"I know," she shot back at him, irritated by his paranoid pursuit, "I forgot something."
The car lurched, tires squeaking on the service garage's slick concrete floor. Scully went to the window of the car, pointing a finger toward the trunk. "Pop the trunk," she told him and went around to pull out a shopping bag.
She waved the driver on and turned to the service tech standing before her. "Thanks a lot, you've been an absolute treasure," she acerbically grunted, brushing back a straggling strand of hair from her eyes, "Have a great weekend."
With that, Scully turned on her heel to leave. Again, the service tech held his hands out in the hapless gesture of apology. "I'm sorry."
"Oh, whatever." Scully gave the man a dismissive wave without looking back. "Huh, love of my life..." she muttered Mulder’s terrible prediction. “Oh,” she thought then and pulled out her cell phone. Maybe she could catch Mulder before he left.
"Mulder--"
"Hey, it's me," Scully broke in before he barely finished saying his name. "Can I get a ride with you—Fleet services won’t give my car because it’s unfit to drive and now they don't have any more vehicles."
"Scully, I'm at the airport," Mulder replied, sounding almost guilty to admit the fact.
Scully stopped in the middle of the driveway. "The airport? What are you doing there?"
"You didn't get my message?"
"What message?"
"There's two witnesses in Detroit who are leaving town next week, and I wanted to catch them before they left. I didn't think it would be important if I went ahead without you. You're only doing the autopsy."
“Only doing the…” Scully nodded to herself. "Only..." she muttered, "No, I don't care if you go." She sighed and glanced around the drive, thinking. "I'll just get a cab."
"I'm sorry, Scully," Mulder apologized and sounded genuinely regretful. "I'll pay you back for the cab fare, how's that?"
"Never mind that," she said, disgusted, "I'll see you Monday."
Scully threaded through the bowels of the FBI, making her way back to the main level parking garage, feeling like something of a vagrant as she toted her shopping bag and clumped along in shoes that weren't meant for this much walking on concrete.
The garage was all but deserted; only a few cars remained. Scully checked her watch, finding it was almost a quarter past five. Blowing her breath out she picked up her pace, marching toward the bank of elevators with no time to spare to catch a cab if she was going to get to her mother’s house on time.
As she reached the elevator the bell dinged and she suddenly thought maybe there was some luck left in her world, then stopped as she saw AD Skinner emerging before her.
His gaze lagged behind his steps, slowly coming up as he moved forward, and when Skinner saw Scully, he came to a halt. "Forget something, Agent Scully?" he asked.
"No, I’m going to catch a cab out front." She started for the elevator, then. "Have a good weekend, sir."
"You don't have your car?" Skinner's question stopped Scully halfway to the elevator.
She turned back to look at him, her mouth twisting with displeasure. "Fleet services took it until next week," she answered, a fair level of annoyance staining her tone.
Skinner shifted his briefcase from one hand to the other. "Are you headed home?" he asked, and Scully nodded. "I can drive you."
Scully's mouth leveled to a wary slash. "Are you sure?"
Skinner grimaced. "I wouldn't offer if I wasn't, Agent Scully," his voice was laced with the same impatience he'd spoken to her with in his office earlier. "Yes, or no?" He asked.
She stared at him a second, debating on whether or not to accept or turn and run the other way. The man wasn’t making the offer sound very inviting.
"Yes," she answered finally, almost as if to spite him. “Thank you, sir.”
~~~~~~~~~~~ @ ~~~~~~~~~~~
Friday night and the cross-town traffic had been anemic, but the bridge over the Potomac heading into Virginia was a parking lot. Skinner and Scully had moved no more than an eighth of a mile in a span of thirty minutes and she could take the unbearable silence no more.
"So," Scully broke the unbearable silence suddenly and perhaps a little too zealously judging by the way Skinner winced and glanced at her, his brow lowering. Scully offered a sheepish ill-defined smile. "Have you gotten your Christmas shopping done?" she trudged on.
Skinner looked at her again, his expression one of pained tolerance. "No," he said flatly and returned his attention to the unmoving traffic ahead.
"Oh," Scully remarked quietly and shifted infinitesimally closer toward the passenger's side door.
Silence descended upon the interior of the car again.
Skinner began to tap a finger on the steering wheel, and when it seemed that they wouldn't be going anywhere for a while he caved, half turning to Scully to ask, "what's in the bag?"
She looked at him, clueless for an instant, then, "Oh, uh, gifts," she stammered, caught off guard by his sudden interest, "for my brother Bill. He's coming into town today..." she trailed off and checked her watch. "Actually, he's probably already here if his flight was on time," she seemed to say more for herself than Skinner.
"Is he staying long?"
"No," Scully answered, an unconscious smile ruffled her mouth as looked out her window in thought, "but at least he's going to make it for my mother's Christmas party tonight." She leaned her head back. "My mother always goes out of her way to make it nice around the holidays. She, um," Scully paused and grinned to herself before starting over again, "My mother calls a service almost every year-- has a maid and host come to help and the house isn't even that big, but she wants everything to be perfect and it always is, always has been."
"Sounds nice," Skinner commented, his tone softening some. He gave her a thoughtful glance that lasted an extra beat before he turned his attention back to the traffic ahead. “Looks like we’re starting to move. Maybe you’ll get to the party on time after all.”
Little else was said for the remainder of the trip to Scully's apartment. Before Skinner brought the car to a stop out front, Scully had her hand on the door handle, ready to bolt from the vehicle, eager to prepare for the evening with family and friends. Once she’d gotten out, Skinner leaned over from the driver's seat, peering out at her on the curb, preventing her from closing the door just yet.
"Will you need a ride to your mother's?"
Scully hesitated, looking back at him through the car with mild surprise flashing across her face. "Uh," she hesitated, darting her eyes around the neighborhood in quick thought, then, "I'll have one of my brothers to come get me." She dipped her chin quickly in gratitude. "Thank you, sir, for the offer, though."
~~~~~~~~~~~ @ ~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas, just like the ones I used to know, where those tree tops glisten...
The unique harmony of the Drifter's rang through Scully's living room, complementing the mild smattering of decorations she'd found time to display this year, while she hustled between rooms getting ready and straighten all at once.
And children listen, to hear sleigh bells in the snow, the snow...
The last of the sofa pillows were straightened and she snatched up the last of the bows and wrap from the coffee table, then stopped to look at the prettily wrapped boxes sitting neatly on the floor. She stared at them for a long moment, her expression shifting slowly from glowing pride to a deep somber contemplative frown. Something wasn't right. Something was missing.
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas, with every Christmas card I write...
Scully's eyes flew open wide. "Bill's gifts," she gasped and spun to scan the living room. Panicked, she swept through the apartment, checking closets, retracing steps, and after her second swing through the apartment to locate the shopping bag she stopped looking and grabbed the phone, cursing herself as she realized-- or rather yielded to the fact that she had left the bag in Skinner's car trunk.
~~~~~~~~~~~ @ ~~~~~~~~~~~
"Our sick brother who had a nervous breakdown-- What are you crying about?" a man yapped.
"What do you think she's crying about?" a woman asked, accusingly.
The hollow sound of the television meandered into the kitchen where Skinner was constructing an easy meal after a long day. Some mustard on rye, liverwurst, and… he reached into the fridge for the onion, and grabbed a beer while he was there.
Slicing the onion, he picked up a chunk and popped it in his mouth. It wasn’t a glamorous meal, but it was easy and a delicious favorite he’d admit to no one. Something this barbaric would not be served tonight at Mrs. Scully’s party, he thought. It sounded like a well-planned and sophisticated affair, and the way Scully talked about it, he knew how much she was looking forward to it.
He gathered up his meager but satisfying meal and headed toward the living room, a last thought that he hoped she would have a nice evening. She deserved it.
"X amount of dollars sounds like a lot of money, that's all," the same female character muttered.
"Forget X. Forget I ever mentioned X," the man was irritated now. "I'm beginning to wonder what X is going to come to..." the woman pondered.
"Yes," Skinner sighed as he plopped onto the sofa and took up the remote control from the coffee table, "so am I."
He casually flipped channels until Fox's Scariest Police Chases grabbed his attention, providing the perfect backdrop for his dinner. With half a beer down and a chuckle at the trenchant banter of a pulled-over perp, his peaceful evening took an unexpected turn – his phone started ringing. Skeptical yet curious, he shot a glance toward the device.
Leaning in, Skinner silenced the TV and let the answering machine kick in. His own voice echoed through the room, only to be followed by Scully's anxious plea, "Sir, if you're there, please pick up."
Skinner snatched the phone out of the cradle. "Agent Scully, what is it?" he asked at once.
"I'm sorry to bother you," her voice was still coming over the answering machine speaker, "but I left my bag in your trunk."
"Bag?" he questioned and it occurred to him having put it in the trunk of his car.
"The shopping bag I put in your trunk," she stressed as a knocking sound came over the line. "I have some gifts in there for my brother and his family."
"I know, you told me that," Skinner replied.
"It's important I get them to him."
If it was so damn important why... Skinner exhaled quietly and rubbed his eyes. "I could bring it by your place in a while-"
"No, I won't be here," she broke in, then said quickly, "just a moment, sir."
Skinner clicked off the answering machine and listened to the sound of Scully answering her door to someone; muffled voices and then laughter drifted over the line. Skinner exhaled, his exasperation becoming evident as he started to pace his living room floor.
"I’m sorry, sir," Scully's voice came back after a moment, now more quietly than before, "My brother's here, I'll be living for my mother's in just a few minutes. I can give you the address." She paused. "Could you bring it to me there?"
Skinner didn't say anything for a moment, and rubbed at his temple, thinking. What was he now, speed dial santa?
"I wouldn't ask if it wasn't important, sir," Scully added after a second.
Skinner gritted his teeth as he went back to his desk. "All right," he said, taking up a pen and pulling an envelope from a stack of mail to write on, "what's the address, Scully?"
Also for the Grapefruit Sky server’s Luau gift exchange, I wrote this piece for @word-ghost. It is inspired by Harvey and her farmer OC Peach.
Read her story Sowing Uncertainty on AO3! (Especially if you want to catch the references, but it isn't required to understand the fluff here.)
Title: Movie Night
Word Count: 2,022
Somewhere in Years 3-4, Winter:
Harvey Palmer fastened his red tie and threw on his favorite green coat. He looked into the mirror above his bathroom sink, making sure each fold in his clothes were in place, then sighed deeply, content with the appearance of his attire. Years ago, he accepted that his hair wouldn’t ever look neat, but still he tried to comb it with his hand. At least the mustache was immaculate.
“Who do you have to impress?” A familiar voice inquired from the couch. “We’re just going out with friends.”
Harvey smiled as he turned to his girlfriend, Peach Miller, who was dressed in a warm sweater, scarf, and pearl earrings. No matter how much time passed, no matter what she wore, she looked as breathtaking as ever.
“Just you,” he said. He walked over to her and leaned to kiss her cheek. He craved more, but as her makeup had been done up by Emily before she came, he thought it best not to ruin her lipstick just yet. Still, Peach hummed contentedly into his ear. “Shall we get going?”
Peach nodded. Harvey extended a hand to her, and after taking it she stood up. “Emily won’t be able to make it. She left a note at her place for Shane. Apparently Gus’s stove stopped working, so he has to use his furnace to cook, which takes a while to clean and warm up.”
“Ah, that explains why I have the pleasure of an early visit. I feel poorly for Emily though.”
“She said she’ll be alright.” Peach assured him. “She’s planning on using her new day off next week to visit a friend in Calico Desert, so it’s not a complete loss for her.”
“That’s good.”
They descended the stairs from Harvey’s apartment and braced themselves for the outside cold as they began their walk to the theater. The Stardrop Saloon was in front of Harvey’s clinic, and even from outside, they could see that the kitchens in the back were quite busy. A puff of black smoke escaped the exhaust from presumably an old furnace inside the saloon. From an open window, they saw Emily, who then spotted them and waved them over.
“It looks like it’ll be just the two of you tonight!” Emily called out. “Shane’s watching Jas tonight.”
“What happened to Marnie?”
“She’s in Grampleton getting supplies. She’ll spend a whole day there getting stuff that isn’t available at Pierre’s, and it looks like she’s running late.”
“Dang,” Peach muttered. So much for her plan of getting everyone together in the brief lull in Harvey’s busy season. “Thanks for heads up!”
“Of course. Have fun you two!” With a wave and a wink, Emily disappeared into a different part of the kitchen.
Peach sighed, but not too heavily. “I’m sorry that didn’t work out.”
“That’s fine.” Harvey assured her. He reached for Peach’s hand and held it. “At least our date night part of the evening can begin sooner, even if it couldn’t land on either of our birthdays.”
“True…” Peach nodded. “This might not be too bad, just the two of us. We can pick a different movie than what we planned if we want.”
“What’s showing tonight?”
“At least The Miracle at Coldstar Ranch.”
“A classic Winter Star film. I’d be happy to watch it even without Emily and Shane.”
“Me too.”
Finally, Peach and Harvey made their way to the outdoor ticket counter. Three movies were being shown: the expected Miracle at Coldstar Ranch, the kids’ comedy sci-fi Wumbus, and a remastered old film…
“The Zuzu City Express?” Peach gasped excitedly. “I haven’t seen that movie in years. I loved it growing up!”
“Do you want to watch that instead?” Harvey suggested. “It’ll be just us two after all, and it starts in five minutes rather than twenty.”
“Only if you want to.”
“I’m happy either way.” Harvey turned to the ticketmaster and counted out money. “Two tickets for Zuzu Express, please?” In exchange for the money, the ticketmaster gave him two shimmery gold tickets. He passed one of these to Peach. She lit up in such a way that warmed Harvey’s heart faster than a fireplace after being out in cold snow. He held open the door into the theater, and together, they entered, offering their ticket stubs to the greeter.
“Welcome!” A cheery girl waved at them. She stood behind a counter, a concessions stand. Many snacks were displayed, including popcorn and cotton candy machines. “Would you like a snack for your movie? Today we have buttered popcorn, nachos, sour gummy slimes, apple slices, and more! Just read our menu and pick out what you like.”
“Two packs of apple slices, please?”
Harvey asked quickly and before Peach could protest. To his pleasant surprise, she didn’t. Rather, she gazed at him with a pleasant smile.
“You remembered my favorite.” She grinned.
“Of course! Only the best for Peach.”
“I’m just glad these apples don’t keep you away, doctor.”
“I doubt you’d succeed at keeping me away even if you had one of these a day. I’m lucky I could catch a break from flu season tonight.”
Harvey tried to ignore the concessions worker rolling her eyes as she retrieved the apple slices from a display refrigerator. He thanked her as he paid.
The sudden shout of a child drew their attention. The source came from in front of a claw machine. Specifically, Jas, who happily retrieved a stuffed lime green Wumbus from the prize slot. His hand still on the joystick, there stood Shane.
“Hi, Shane!” Peach waved. “I didn’t know you could still make it.”
“Yeah, sorry about that.” Shane shrugged. “Marnie needed me to watch Jas tonight. We’re going to see Wumbus. Jas already convinced Vincent that they can go to Miracle at Coldstar Ranch next week, and she didn’t want to see it twice.”
“That works out for you. You didn’t seem as interested in watching that when we were choosing a movie last week.”
Shane chuckled, a mildly guilty chuckle. “Well, you two can have fun at least. See you around, farmer, doctor.”
Shane and Jas made their way to the concessions stand and ordered sour gummi slimes and nachos. They would be watching their movie in Theater 3, as opposed to Theater 2, where Harvey and Peach would go watch their movie of choice.
Quietly they seated themselves in the middle-back of the theater. Three people were already seated in the front rows. Peach’s smile dropped when Alex, sitting beside his grandparents, turned to see them and waved, making a kissing face towards Peach. She flipped him off in reply.
The main lights in the theater dimmed, leaving only the dim pathway lighting leading to exits. The screen brightened, displaying a familiar title screen that made you think this will be one of those older silent films with prerecorded music to add to its ambience, but this was in fact one of the first movies to include audio, the actors needing to voice their lines with the same passion as in their acting.
A train rolled onto the screen, and there began the old tale, still in black and white, but with improved definition. In story, the Zuzu City Express makes one final trip south from the icy coast. It’s a three day journey.
A young lady sits in her empty train compartment, peering wistfully out her window to a frost-covered land and still sea. The protagonist, Mildred, is returning to the city after visiting her family for the holidays, reluctant to resume being a secretary for her uncle’s company once more. She looked outside, already missing being out and enjoying nature. She would soon return to a world of bills, smoke, and tall concrete buildings.
Her mind’s wanderings are interrupted by a confident man named Clarence, a small business owner and gardener from Castle Village, who entered her compartment by mistake. They would spend the next couple days talking to pass the time, and on the eve of their second day on the train, they shared a sweet kiss.
The next morning however, Mildred feels confused. Clarence proposes marriage, and she tells him it is too soon to decide. They had only met two days ago, after all. Fearing he will never see her again after the day, he asks that she give her answer before the train stops in Zuzu City. He has a connection that will take him to Castle Village, and won’t have time to wait before he makes the next train.
The closing shot is of Mildred once more wistfully looking out her window as the train slowed to a stop, wondering what her answer will be. Throughout the movie, she deals with a timeless theme: the conflict between reason and emotion. Will she follow the directions of her rational mind, or the longings of her heart? The movie ends before the audience finds out.
Harvey was so glued to the movie that he didn’t notice that Peach had been crying silently beside him. From his coat pocket he found a fresh tissue and offered it to Peach, who took it and tried to dry her eyes. They waited for George, Evelyn, and their grandson to leave, and thankfully Alex was preoccupied with carrying what remained of their snacks. Finally, after the last guests left the theater, Harvey dared speak.
“Are you alright?”
Peach nodded. “I had wondered what it would be like to watch this on the big screen. After the first year and a half here in Pelican Town, this movie hit closer to home than I expected.”
Ah. Right. On the heartbreaking road to them being in a relationship, both made mistakes, but Harvey believed his to be the biggest. It kept them apart for a year while she dated another man and even got engaged to him for a brief time. And despite his previous beliefs, she came back to him after it all.
“We’re together now,” he assured her. “Better late than never.”
Peach nodded, agreeing. She leaned into his side, and Harvey wrapped his arms around her consolingly. The moment was quietly interrupted. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a young janitor coming in armed with a broom and dustpan to clean up popcorn spills and the like.
“We should probably get going now.”
Slowly, they trudged out of the theater, and they walked the long journey to Peach’s farmhouse. As the snowy breeze felt even more chilly with the sun dipping under the horizon, Peach leaned into his side, and he rested his hand on her lower back pulling her closer, reassuring her that he still wanted to be with her. He’d be with her forever if she’d let him.
“When I was a kid…” Harvey broke the silence, “I liked to think that Mildred followed her heart and said yes, just as they were getting off the train.”
Peach huffed a little laugh. “If she were me years ago, for some odd reason she just wouldn’t believe Clarence was sincere, and run off before she could give him an answer. She’d go work for a year, might even get engaged to a coworker before finally running away from it all. She’d buy a ticket to Castle Village, and go looking for his small business, desperately hoping he wouldn’t already be married and that he can forgive her.”
Harvey hummed in thought. “I’d bet he wouldn’t have moved on. There’s only so many people in a small town, after all. They’ll take it slow, but they’ll be courting if not engaged by the end of the season.”
“I agree.” Peach was back to her lovely smiling once again when she stepped on her porch and retrieved the keys for her front door. “Still, I like our story best.”
She opened the door and invited him in with a gentle pull of his tie, bringing him into the house, and a slow, heartwarming kiss. Harvey smiled against her lips, sure the waxy lipstick was now more on his face than hers as he embraced her and closed the door behind them.
“So do I.”
