Chasemarsh Monday fanfic recommendation: Someone Will Love You (But Someone Isn't Me) by Shisumo



Summary: Eight years after Blackwell, Victoria has gotten very good at being dumped. As much as she'd like to blame the women who keep leaving her, she's starting to think that the problem might lie closer to home. Is it possible that a drunken call to an old crush/bullying victim could start turning things around for her?

My take: I absolutely adore the premise of this fic, that Victoria's first gay experience being a drunken kiss with the girl she bullied, and her unresolved feelings about that and the self-loathing she's carried all these years has gone on to sabotage every single relationship she's had even before it starts, is such a unique take but fits SO WELL for her character. Shisumo’s grasp of characterization is as on point as always, and I am desperate for more from this AU! EVERY SINGLE DAY there are MILLIONS of characters in their late 20s who get falsely accused of being father figures to teenagers when in reality the description of "weird older cousin" or "step-sibling that moved out before you were born" is 1000000x more apt

i think ultimately the core of what irritates me about the t swift craze is that she’s constantly getting props for things that … literally aren’t true. people act like she’s self made, she is not. people act like she’s a social activist, she is not. people act like she’s constantly going to great lengths to uplift other women, she is not. like if people were just like yeah i love her music :) then okay! but it’s the constanttttt applause and praise and worshipping for things that are just patently false that really makes me feel insane
