Do NOT download 'Threads'
This is mostly a warning to anyone who uses Facebook, Instagram, or both, but I encourage everyone on the internet regardless of Social Media preferences such as Tumblr or DeviantART to NOT download the new app "Threads" period, here's why:
"Now, let the Fun Begin!" — willofasherah: seeing everyone just mindlessly... (tumblr.com)
"Now, let the Fun Begin!" — Dude that's awful! Good thing I never signed up... (tumblr.com)
"Now, let the Fun Begin!" — Well I will most certainly not be downloading the... (tumblr.com)
TL;DR: "Threads" acts like a good alternative to Twitter, but it's actually a huge invasion of your privacy, it reveals people's real names, goes into your docs and credit scores, reads your private messages, tracks your location, etc, etc, and politically it's heavily right wing.
And sadly, if you do download this app, the only way to get rid of it is to delete your other accounts (Instagram, Facebook, etc), so please don't download "Threads", it's just not worth it.
I already had to warn my Dad and little Sister this since they use Facebook(albiet not much).

Once again I wish I could find the "beware of fandom becoming cult-like or rebranded conservative religion" post because I would add onto it "beware of fascist ideology hidden in #progressive phrasing". Like, I've seen concerning things like blood and soil (Nazi ideology about ethnic purity and an idealized rural lifestyle) hidden in a very thin veneer of queer cottagecore or similar, and tumblr just lapping it up. Likewise, concern over cultural appropriation leading to suggestions of de facto segregation. Like, think beyond the phrasing, PLEASE. "You are not immune to propaganda" is more than just a meme!

The syndrome of indifferent thinking, of simplifying others' difficulties; Know-it-all
Tumblr media
In the midst of so much difficulty in connection, empathy, and respectful communication – which I see as one of the biggest challenges we face on social media – it's important to talk about and reflect on this.
It's common to hear (or feel) these voices echoing in social media:
'They don't do it because they don't want to.' 'Just do this.' 'They haven't done it because they haven't wanted to.' 'It's laziness, they don't want to change.' 'It's victimization, it's just X, Y, Z thing.'
It's not always victimization; a lot of times there are indeed difficulties and pain behind that demand.
It's not drama; it's a desire to express what's inside. It's not whining; it's not fussiness; it's not laziness.
Our energy is our energy. Our story is personal, unique, and instead of forcing the other's future or their best choice with aggression and arrogance, deal with the matter that impacts that individual in front of you with love, patience, and empathy.
By the way, that person is not in front of you for no reason. Perhaps it's precisely to make you notice your emotional rigidity and insensitivity to others and the diversity of realities.
The life of others is not lived based on your journey (which may not have been as emotionally/mentally heavy), but rather on their journey.
If this person is accustomed to a past of pain, imposition, fears, and limiting beliefs, who are we to force a completely opposite path from one moment to the next? And, being extremely sincere, are we really different from others in HAVING DIFFICULTIES?!
Once we've been led or have led ourselves down the wrong paths, we need to leave that path. But there's no teleportation on this path. So, if we're 200 kilometers away from the starting point, we'll have to make the journey back.
On the way back, we revisit the steps we took, feeling the pain, which is painful but essential. We'll return to the starting point to then move on to path B, which, in the end, was best for us. We don't teleport from one reality to another. Life is what it is.
Those in pain have, in their past and life journey, a reason to be in pain. There's a reason to think negatively and feel bad.
Respect that. Reflect more on your reactions of insensitivity and indifference to others' DIFFICULTIES.
Don't try to plant flowers in a soil that needs healing first. The healing of the soil comes before planting the flower, even though flowers are good and perhaps even the ultimate goal.
Not everyone moves at the same speed as you.
Not everyone has the same life and past as you.
Some are much more familiar with pain, and that's why they feel fear and are more avoidant; they need to try more and more. And that's okay.
Some are much more familiar with imposition, conservatism, which is why they are afraid to fly, to break free, to try something new, and that's why they need more time to leave their cages or, if already free, to finally fly.
Some have much more negative experiences with trust, which is why they shy away from help.
Some are much more familiar with trauma, which is why they continue to live in repetitive patterns due to guilt, distortions of reality, and they also need more time.
Exercise patience and empathy. If you're unwilling to do so, it's important to recognize that the person facing challenges isn't the only one with difficulties. Can you see that?
Our mental and emotional life is built on our experiences.
If the experience is not yours, don't force the other's reaction, as if we could suddenly teleport from one reality to another.
Nothing that hurts is made up.
Don't act as if you were a superhuman being of reason or ready to live, and others are weak in action or attitude.
Practice empathy, and you will see it change - within you.

A few days ago it came to my attention that it has been over a year since I have last posted any art
Honestly, and I mean this objectively, I don’t even know if anyone here cares, but just in case I wanted to talk about it
You see, the main reason was Instagram
Aside from a couple of times when a reel of mine got me a lot of followers and consequent temporary excitement, I guess I couldn’t bare feeding that awful algorithm anymore, subconsciously focusing on what it wanted and not what I wanted to do
Probably if I had never made an Instagram art account in the first place I wouldn’t have stopped posting, or maybe I would have stopped later on or just started posting less frequently (tumblr engagement wasn’t great either because of the like-reblog ratio thing, but it did feel less oppressive)
With that being said, I’d just like you to know that although I don’t know if I will ever post any art again, I am still doing it. I have never stopped, and hopefully never will. I have also greatly improved and I am exploring tons of styles and media
What I meant to say with all this is, in the end, that art is still a big part of my life and, if you’re an online artist and you do it for fun, trust me, the moment it stops being fun and starts feeling like an obligation, a burden, a chore or whatever, you should prioritise you and your passion’s wellbeing, and nothing else, not your follower count, not your algorithm, not even those followers who regularly interact and enjoy your art (if they can see that there is a person behind all that work, they will understand).
So yeah, sorry for the long-ish post, but that’s something I wanted to get off my chest
tl;dr: if you’re an artist who posts their art for fun, never forget the fun part and prioritise your passion over your follower count

I think we, as people on social media, need to take a different approach to looking at art.
I think a lot of us just see some art come across our feed, look at it briefly, like and reblog/retweet/share it, and then move on. And that's it. That's our experience of the art.
I've, unfortunately, done that for years. And what it's done is made art into something that is enjoyed just for a moment, and then put aside. For me as an artists, that behavior has made me want to create content constantly, because if I didn't, other people would get bored of me, since I wasn't providing them with something new to glance at. This is a hard habit to unlearn.
I have begun, slowly but surely, to take my time with art. To actually open up the image (or download it), and look at it for a while. To zoom in, and notice all the little details in the line art, the colors, the shading, etc. To take time to really, fully, appreciate the artwork, and all the time, effort, and skill that was put into it.
I love art so much more now. I appreciate it more. I feel more fulfilled looking at it and creating it. Noticing all the little beautiful details in a piece brings me joy. It also gives me new ideas to try with my own art.
So next time you see some art, stop. Slow down. Take a few minutes to really *look* at it. Download the image to view again later. Look at the way the artist drew this image, and truly appreciate what they have created.

I started using social media this year, and I want to know how to make friends online. So far I don't quite get it.
In the pre-covid days, all I did was put on a bubbly-person mask, spot the people in a crowd that weren't talking to anyone, but looked interested in other people's convo's (in a shy-but-extraverted kind of way), and flat out asked them to be friends.
Then, if I wanted to be social, I would text them "Hey, do you want to hang out?" and then we hung out at my place and everything was fine. It was (comparatively) simple. I had it all figured out.
Now I need to figure out how to make *and* keep friends completely online. It sucks. My heart hurts just thinking about it. I'm getting chills. I feel faint. This might be the death of me. Help.
Do YOU know how to make friends online??
Do you know how online friendship even works in the slightest? Like on a fundamental level? Have you done it before?? Where? On what platforms does it start, and then were does it flow best? Is it all asynchronous interaction? How often do you talk? How long do the friendships typically last? Are they all hyper-fixation or special-interest specific? Or can they be general, talk-about-everything friends? Do people talk about their real lives?
If you have ANY information about this topic, please feel free to comment or reblog or digitally communicate it to me. Even if it seems obvious! It's like, not obvious to me.
Thanks <3

Bit of a vent post here-
People shit on Tumblr but this has been what I've seen for years now:
Tumblr: "This is my favorite character/show, I made some art and writing for them, I love them and appreciate them. Most people who don't like this subject leave us alone and we can all be happy in our own little niches."
Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Reddit: "FUCK THIS FUCK THAT THIS CHARACTER SUCKS I WILL ACTIVELY SPEND MY TIME SEEKING OUT PEOPLE WHO LIKE THIS SHOW TO HATE ON THEM. I SHIP THIS SHIP AND SOMEONE ELSE SHIPS THESE CHARACTERS WITH DIFFERENT PEOPLE SO THEY MUST DIE! THIS CHARACTER IS WEAK, NO DIFF KILLED BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH-"
And yeah, so on and so on.
Maybe I just haven't run into it that much, but there seems to be a lot less toxicity on Tumblr, and when it does occur it's also in its own little bubble.

for anyone too young to know this: watching The Truman Show is a vastly different experience now, compared to how it was before youtube and social media influencers became normal
before it was like, "what a horrifying thing to do to a human being! to take away their autonomy and privacy, all for the sake of profits! to create fake scenarios for them to react to, just to retain viewership! to ruin their happiness just so some corporate entity could harvest money from their very humanity! how could anyone do something so evil?"
and now it's like, "ah, yeah. this is still deeply fucked up, but it's pretty much what every influencer has been doing to their kids for a decade now. probably bad that we've normalized this experience"

Energetic Wisdom ✨💭
Tumblr media
The need to know how to choose what you read and see - energetic wisdom.
When I was a teenager and didn't yet have much awareness of how my energy worked as an empath and sensitive person (All that I'm going to say here also applies to people who don't see themselves as empaths or sensitives).
I didn't always follow my intuition, which already indicated to me that the most appropriate path was not to have every energetic exchange with things, subjects, environments, and people that came up.
In a way, I learned through practice to polish and connect to this inner wisdom that warned me not to go down the path that would harm me.
An example of something that harmed me and that I no longer do:
I would hear about some tragedy that really affected me, and I would immediately go and find out what happened.
The problem is that I not only found out but also was affected by the news.
By the way, we have to admit the media's ability to transmit and focus on bad news. They know that unfortunately, they attract more attention for different reasons: people who are more sensitive and end up connecting with the energy of pain because of unbridled empathy; people who have sensationalization patterns and enjoy watching the news because they live with the energy of "spectacularization of life," or both cases together.
Have you ever stopped to think? Does evil really prevail/has it always prevailed? Or has the media contributed and still contributes to making people think that only evil exists, that everything is bad?
Rarely do we see the media showing good deeds, things focused on well-being. It's true that our reality is really complicated. But goodness still exists! People need to have at least a glimmer of hope.
And what about those super strange cases that immediately pique our curiosity? Things out of the ordinary.
Whenever you hear a "little voice" inside you saying "don't open it, don't research this". If that's the case, it's something you really shouldn't see. And follow this voice. It's the voice of Inner Wisdom!
If some part of you recognizes that this is not good, it's because it will harm you in some way.
I use myself as an example: I'm afraid of horror movies. Depending on the movie or series, when many years ago I didn't follow my intuition, watching it would affect me a lot, I would have it in my head for a long time, and it would influence other things in my life. That's why I rarely watch horror movies because I know it will negatively impact me (and spiritually, by the way, there are some consequences of attracting some not-so-nice energies, either from the macabre and often violent stories or from the frequency of fear that many people start to vibrate at, which on the Hawkins Scale, is one of the lowest existing frequencies).
Attention. Everything we research will affect us. To a greater or lesser extent, in a good way or not, but it will affect us!
Nothing is "just a search," just an experience here and there. Let's be more responsible with directing our mental energy, especially, but not only. Physical and emotional energy too.
When we are vulnerable, more emotionally sensitive, attention must be doubled. Don't look for negative, bad things. Don't research heavy subjects.
Don't give room for self-destruction and other negative feelings to start swirling around your mind. Control your thoughts. The internet is such an open, infinite space, and that's its danger: anyone can access whatever they want.
Since there's no one to control you, control yourself about what you're going to research, watch, read, get in touch with.
Be your friend, don't intoxicate yourself with unhealthy things for your mind, especially.

If you want to survive on the internet, all you need to know is that you can't eat meat but you also can't be vegan neither, and if you post any video of you cooking or making food you're probably cooking it wrong so you probably shouldn't post it at all. Also you can't be attracted to the same-sex but you also can't be attracted to the opposite sex neither! And you have to be in a relationship, but relationships are cringe so just don't be in one! Oh wait that's so selfish never mind! And you have to have kids but if you have kids you're basically worthless now! And you can't have any hobbies but then you'll be boring too. You also can't be any religion other than Christian, but if you're Christian you're probably a garbage human! But if you're atheist you also need to find god! Also speaking of hobbies it'd be nice if you could incorporate some dark themes in your stories but if you do it's gross! And you also *have* to be sexy and hot, but even then you're probably worthless. And while we're at it you *have* to be happy and if you talk about any of your struggles or mental health issues you're an attention seeker and should just grow up! However we are ALSO entitled to know if you're struggling and your diagnosises so please tell us! We need to know! If you don't we'll assume you're lying! On second thought you're probably better off just not using the internet at all!

Originally posted this on Instagram but I think I can post these here too. Vent under the cut.
I'm not going to lie, I feel *much* more comfortable posting here than I do on Instagram. I feel much more at home here than I did on DeviantArt or Reddit. Does Tumblr have problems with it's userbase too? Absolutely. Every site does. But even then it's nothing compared to the likes of Reddit or Instagram. On almost every Instagram post, half the comments on said posts are negative trash (and bots. can't forget the bots). Literally no post is safe. Posts about food, sports, animals, art, hell I keep seeing negativity on posts about FLOWERS. FLOWERS. And don't even get me started on Reddit. And it's reached a point where I almost don't feel comfortable posting on Insta anymore, because I'm worried one day my posts will end up like that too. It doesn't help that the posters don't even bother moderating their own comment sections. It's also one reason why I deleted my Reddit account earlier this year, and another reason why I deleted DeviantArt a while back. I just didn't feel safe on those sites anymore.
Tumblr feels much more relaxing, because blocking folks and deleting comments/reblogs you don't want is actually encouraged. Hell, turning off replies and reblogs are encouraged here.
But then again, the site has it's own issues. Buuut that's a subject for later. Regardless of where you spend most of your time though, regardless of if it's here, Instagram or DeviantArt (unfortunately I don't think Reddit allows you to delete other people's comments unless you're on a sub you mod), for the love of god people please delete hateful or inflammatory comments that people put on your posts! It's no good leaving them there, and it genuinely gets tiring having to read through so many negative and rude comments every single fucking post. It's not even that hard.
