These are from Into the Lion's Den Part 1, since that's the ep I happen to be watching..
Also, the difference is way more obvious on a laptop screen than on my phone screen.

Okay hi yes, I do indeed have some thoughts. Fair disclaimer that this is just my interpretation! I've only been playing the game for a few days technically, so this is all my first impulse in terms of characterization and influenced by my own path, so! Other interpretations will also be super interesting to read about. Also, obviously, we don't have the full cut, whatever comes out in 2 weeks will come out in 2 weeks. Anyways! Overanalyzing this little bastard's dialogue below.
Okay, this affectionate ribbing was referencing this dialogue here where you can comment on Astarion not being totally "present" post-party sex. Sorry this took me a second to respond to, I wanted to grab the screens for this:

Astarion: That's what you want, isn't it? To lose yourself in me?
(new scene) Astarion: You sleep light. I thought you'd be exhausted after last night
Tav: Did you enjoy it? It felt like you weren't fully there.
Astarion: I was holding back a little, it's true. I didn't want to lose control.
To preface this, Astarion's arc is clearly dealing with the push/pull of power and control, one's personal agency (and how it can be taken away), and what happens when an individual reclaims power after for a very long time being without that power. He's endured god-knows-what for 200 years, giving glimpses of his former life, the torture under Cazador, the things he had to do for Cazador (which, included at least finding Cazador's meals through likely charm and seduction, without his own say in the matter.) Now he's out, he's free, he's experiencing the world for the first time basically (as he remarks on in ambient dialogue a lot: everything looks different. Click on a globe and he'll say something along the lines of having never seen the world, but there's time now.) Stating all of that is necessary to me because I think whatever's going on in his terrible brain is several factors all kind of thrown into one; some factors good, some bad, some neutral, some questionable; again, just my interpretation of him, but.
OKAY. Now that that's out of the way. The first interpretation of this scene (and the sex scene in general in its limited capacity: since we don't have eyes on the cinematic.) we can have is the obvious one: you two had a great night, Astarion is being upfront, he simply didn't want to lose control, nothing else here to look at. It's fantasy sex and it's simply good fun.
(The rest is under a cut. Sorry, this kind of turned into a meta Astarion and Sex and all of that? Anyways. CW for a bit of discussion about sexuality + trauma + implications of lack of consent.)
But Do I Believe It's That Simple? Not Really.
On one side, I do think Astarion is genuine in his pursuing of Tav, of sex, of good times and pleasure: he's been locked away for 200 years and now he's traipsing around in mud (a novelty), which might not be ideal, but he can still enjoy the thrill of that too, looks for what's in it for him, what feels good, etc. in all of the circumstances he finds himself in. There's a kind of subdued wonder from him about the world at large; remarks on craving the sun while you're in the Underdark, of experiencing the world, and I think he really is rushing around relishing the freedom as much as he can. And since of course he can reject you, he's not doing anything he doesn't want to do. In short: "simple pleasures," have eluded him under Cazador's thumb, and good sex with someone that you're into is likely just one more of those things he hasn't really gotten to do in ... [checks notes] 200 years.
But I don't think that's the only thing going on in this scene. The fact that the dialogue specifically notes a kind of distance from him feels relevant (since, if they wanted us to think it was all seamless good fun, they could've left it as is.) And the thing is, Astarion. is a big fucking liar.
When he wants to brush aside his dream to Tav, he'll simply say he had some naughty dream and brush it off--which we later find out was a lie ("that's what we call a lie, darling.") and his dreams have actually been about Cazador. Again, only relevant because the first thing Astarion reaches for when he wants to obfuscate the truth is lying through charm, or lying through witty barbs, and when pushed, turns into outright snappy aggression. Saying that the only thing on his mind was the hunger is an easy solution to reach for; maybe it's not even quite wrong, that likely was also an aspect of it! But.
His general .. quick sleazy flirting doesn't come out of nowhere. He uses it liberally, and with everyone, in his Evil Twink Fashion. Can flirt with half the camp at one point or another in environmental dialogue (specifically gets shut down by Shadowheart and Gale, humiliatingly.. the secondhand embarrassment there oh boy.) How much of that he learned while under Cazador's thumb, having to manipulate and charm for Cazador, sexualizing situations where he did not actually have full say and consent in the circumstances, is unknown to us, but can be inferred as not negligible. It's his default state. Charm and persuasion and trickery spell safety, as does disguising any kind of weakness. Disguising his weakness poorly, mind, because he obviously has several moments of raw vulnerability you can get even without his romance being initiated.
I think his current mental state here is a combination of that; of lying to disguise whatever raw state is beneath, unearthed by having simply... some good fun with someone, not out of servitude to Cazador, not to flirt or cajole to protect his own skin, but yet one more thing that's been denied to him (and, possibly, albeit we can only guess at this, not claiming it as canon, forced on him unwantedly) over the last 200 years. But he and Tav here aren't close, close yet, and when Tav tries to push (via talking about the scars on his back), Astarion clams up quite quickly, moving on from the discussion as soon as possible. So whatever is under the minor half-truth of "losing control," isn't open to us yet; we've really just met in the grand scheme of things.
We don't know yet what sex means to Astarion; he hasn't really elaborated beyond the obvious. But, I think, given his behavior, his casual flirtiness, his "You want to lose yourself in me," (another line I can squawk about endlessly in terms of character analysis), sexuality (actual sex or simply sexualization) can be as much a means of securing safety, control, coercion, power, and pinpointing weakness. It's also something he can clearly also desire wholeheartedly and with no ulterior motives involved; and I think this moment shows that, and he's grappling with it uncomfortably, what this means for him, one more thing that he can reclaim for himself. He craves something real, I think, and he's only just now beginning to form a real identity outside of what Cazador did to him, and how Cazador haunts him.
Pursuing something like this is one more step in that direction. Unlearning these gut impulses to lie and deceive and charm his way with Tav is probably what we're going toward, given his glimpse of a reaction to a hug. Whatever else Astarion has to work through in regards to intimacy is up in the air, but there's clearly a lot more going on beneath his fairly shallow veneer of charm and flirtatiousness.
(Which. Can we just have the option to hug him as a casual dialogue option? Please?)

Cellbit Castle
Builder : Cellbit, lirc, Foolish, richarlyson
Series : QSMP
Propaganda : It was built when Cellbit's character (q!Cellbit) had a villain arc. Underneath it, there are five rooms dedicated to elements from Cellbit's rpg system "Ordem Paranormal". The castle interior is fully decorated and also features fanart of q!Cellbit and his husband q!Roier (played by Roier). The two live there qith their son Richarlyson. Q!Foolish has a secret room in the castle's walls called the Grandma Room.
The Everdusk Castle
Builder : ToAsgaard
Series : ATM Spellbound Series
Porpaganda : this place is built in another dimension (the Everdusk), it's gigantic (extends about 50ish blocks further down past where i was able to grab a good screencap), and it's fully detailed inside. not in like a "some stuff here and there" or "there are redstone machines" -- every single room is detailed out, often with visuals corresponding to the mod being used, any automated setups are given a ton of visual flair to fit with the theme of the base, there's even automation setups that serve as visual rooms (the Botania automation room uses Kekimuras and is set up as a banquet hall! it's so cool!!). i think about it constantly. ToAsgaard's builds are consistently drop-dead gorgeous (his soulsborne-inspired Celestial Journey/Betweenlands base and gigantic multi-piece Sevtech Ages base are both fantastic) with ridiculously intricate detailing and really cool modded automation setups. his Celestial Journey base, Carcosa was a close second for me -- but its power lies in all that detailing and isn't nearly as screencappable from the outside. Asgaard's an amazing builder both on the megabase and microdetail levels, incredible at standard modded automation and at doing things the fun way. he's been inactive for a few years now but i still adore his stuff, and this seemed like a good way to show off an absolutely spectacular builder that otherwise people might not know about.

hi nik, happy new year! i was wondering if you had any tips for scene selection because your blending/choice of scenes is always so pleasing :) thanks for all your help!
hi!! happy new year <3 ah thank you so much! i'm terrible at explaining blending bc i tend to just slap stuff on top of each other and hope for the best sldkfjlksd but i'll try to give a couple of tips using the miles set i posted today!
tip 1: choose scenes that match your lyrics/quote if you can
this is my usual first step when choosing a scene bc i want to emphasize the themes of my set. i worry later if it's even photoshoppably possible to blend them lol. for the gif i'm using as an example, i wanted to convey a sense of anxiety and contemplation, as well as show a moment where miles was surrounded by the "everyone" mentioned in the quote
tip 2: map things out before spending too much time on the final
if you screencap like me, you know this is the most tedious step in gifmaking 😪 so instead of screencapping a bunch of potential scenes for 20+ min, just grab one frame from each scene you might want to use, and test if they'd be possible to blend. i layer them, resize them a bunch of times, move them around, until i get something i like and seems doable in gif form. then, once you know it's possible, you can screencap the whole scene and make it into a gif. these are the static images i played around with before coloring or fully screencapping:
(i also like to map out my typography beforehand sometimes!)
tip 3: choose scenes with large sections of darkness or solid colors
when you blend with "screen" mode (as most gifmakers do), it means the light area of scene A will be visible over the dark area of scene B and vice versa. i like to choose scenes that look like silhouettes, scenes with large portions of solid colors, or scenes where the main source of brightness comes from the subject's face. here's what each of my scenes looked like before and after coloring, so you can get an idea of what i'm trying to manipulate for a smooth blend:
tip 4: use a soft brush to erase bits you don't want
i almost always erase some bits from blended gifs! especially if it's intersecting with a focal point of my gif and causing a distraction. sometimes, i even use a levels layer to darken things and then paint over the layer mask to create the darkness i need as explained in tip 3
i think those are my best blending/scene selection tips! again, i'm super bad at explaining this particular effect. but there are tons of amazing blending tutorials on the usergif resource directory you can check out too! i hope this helped a bit! :)

WIP Wednesday!!
we're trying something a little bit different this week. I've actually had the urge to write lately, but my brain is too all over the place to choose just one story to work on. so, I figured I'd take the opportunity to use a wip wednesday poll to give myself mini goals for all of the stories that are currently bouncing around in my head.
here are the rules/parameters:
for every vote a story gets, I have to write 100 words - I can write more than that if the inspo strikes, but that is the bare minimum for each story
I must post screencaps of my starting and ending word counts
at any point during the week, someone can send me one of the title names, and I will switch my focus onto that wip for an extra challenge
asking for sneak peaks, the last line I wrote, or anything else really is allowed and encouraged to get me even more pumped up for that story

Hi!! Neil Gaiman just answered my question if Anna and Georgia are in GO and the answer is NO. Anna was pregnant and Georgia was offered a part but turned it down for….. reasons? Unknown to us other than that she believed the part should go to someone older and more experienced? Wonder what part she’s been offered and what her character could’ve been. Also, if there was a hypothetical season 3 we have to be worried if they’ll be cast in it now. Cause he said that they’ll definitely get a part somewhere in the show
Wow, okay...my inbox has been blowing up since Neil's post earlier. Well, for those who haven't gotten to see it, @yami-no-kokoro helpfully posted a screencap above, and it seems that Georgia and Anna will not be appearing in GO season 2...but I'm not entirely sure I buy the explanations as to why.
The first thing that struck me was that Neil actually answered this question at all, instead of "wait and see"-ing it as he has done with seemingly every other GO 2-related question. I also noticed that Neil specifically mentioned that Georgia was offered a part, but AL was not. I'm sure there was a reason for it being phrased that way, but had AL been offered a part, it would've been very easy and made sense to say that there.
As for the explanation of her being pregnant and avoiding people because of Covid, we know and have evidence that this is not really true, as AL was in Scotland during filming with Lyra, and was photographed in a restaurant in Glasgow eating with Michael and Jon Hamm. Also, Michael was on set every day with countless people and then with her, so anything he would've been exposed to, she would have been as well. Logically, then, it seems like she was not taking stringent precautions against Covid, because had that been the case, she would have stayed in Wales instead of following Michael to Scotland for six months for a film shoot while pregnant during a pandemic. So to me, that makes Neil's response seem like a PR one, for the sake of glossing over the fact that AL was not offered a part.
In terms of Georgia...again, the explanation given is a curious one. My feeling is that Neil was softening up the truth, which I am guessing is that Georgia was offered the part, looked it up online, found out the person she was asked to play was older than her, got pissed off, and declined the offer. As you said, Anon #1, there don't seem to be many reasons that Georgia would turn down a role or any opportunity to further her career, so had the part been a more glamorous or attention-grabbing one, she probably would have accepted it without hesitation. I do not at all buy for a second that this had anything to do with Georgia pushing for "age appropriate" casting, except in the sense of "I'm too young to play this part and how dare you even ask, go cast some old hag instead." But again, that translated into another PR response (and a nicely finessed one, which is not at all surprising since Neil is a talented writer) that does indeed reflect well on Georgia.
I know tonight was the BAFTAs, so I'll just touch on that briefly, but Anon #2, it seems that Georgia was there at the event, but just not on the red carpet:
Right away, I have to say I'm confused by "I find it all too much" and am not even sure what that means. Earlier in the day, Georgia posted a picture of herself breastfeeding Birdie and hashtagged it #mybaftalook, but it didn't seem to get a lot of traction, as all I saw on Twitter and elsewhere was pictures of David (and Catherine, and Billie) at the BAFTAs. So I don't really know what was going on here, but her entire vibe today just seemed so weird overall. Why would she not want a picture with David on the red carpet? Was she not invited to walk the red carpet? I don't think we'll ever know for sure, but putting out the narrative of "I find it all too much" just seems disingenuous, especially since she was on the red carpet with David only recently at the Olivier Awards. (EDIT: What I wrote here was based on a misinterpretation of Georgia's post that was very different to how other people read it. I have attempted to clarify my thoughts here.)
Going back to GO 2, though, I did see some of the comments that you mentioned, Anon #3, and I find it interesting that people want to categorize specific blogs as "haters" or "anti-Georgia/Anna" when a) More often than not, it seems like I end up saying out loud what others are thinking, but by no means am I the only one thinking it--especially if the results of the recent poll about GT/AL being in season 2 are any indication; and b) I do not categorize myself as anti-Georgia/Anna, but rather anti-the mentality that they are somehow above reproach or criticism simply because of who their partners are.
I have never and will never tell anyone that they shouldn't like Georgia or Anna. If you are a fan of theirs, then by all means, be a fan. Nobody is all bad (or all good, for that matter), and if you like them, that is completely your prerogative, and go ahead and have a gay old time. But I will not be quiet about the things I've seen from Georgia and AL that discomfit me, nor put up with a narrative that I feel is phony. And I think that right there is the nuance that seems to be getting missed--that what I have a problem with and dislike is Georgia and AL's actions/things they've said, rather than just them as people. I think if folks looked at it that way, it might also help them view Georgia and AL as their own person instead of "David's wife"/"Michael's girlfriend" and would enable us to better have these discussions.
If what Neil said is, in fact, true, I do feel relieved to know that Georgia and AL are not in GO 2. To me, GO is something incredibly special, and Georgia and AL just do not "fit" in that world, and them being in the show would have had a detrimental effect on the illusion/magic of the GO universe. I think the analogy that best explains this is Mary Martin as Peter Pan on TV in the 1950s. In the scene where Peter flies, the actor is put in a harness/on wires to give the appearance of flight. It's the illusion that enthralls us, that immerses us in that sense of magic, and in that moment--even just briefly--you don't see the wires and start to believe that human beings can fly. Season 1 of GO and the incredible chemistry between Michael and David created that same sense of magic and wonder in so many of us....but having Georgia and AL in it would be like seeing the wires.
As for a possible season 3, there's about a thousand different factors that will determine if there even is a season 3, let alone if Neil will cast them or even have parts for them to play. We saw how long it took between seasons 1 and 2 of GO (though Covid was obviously a large part of that), but if that is any indication of how long it could be until season 3, a lot of things can change in a few years' time, so who knows what will happen.
So, those are my thoughts on today's developments (and of course this had to happen on Mother's Day, of all days). Hopefully we'll have more GO 2 stuff to talk about in the coming weeks...

the last song i listened to was north by phoenix and it's on one of my two instrumental spotify playlists (the other is a film/tv score affair) that i named 🫀 (HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS). i was listening to it earlier whilst reading @wolfspurr's post-nogitsune!stiles sterek fic WAY DOWN WE GO which i've only just started and am loving so far! the track actually has wolf howls in the mix at around the 4.20 mark—how apt/cool is that?!
and the celebrity photo is of tyler hoechlin, AKA teen wolf's derek hale, because i was looking for art references. i adore the collection it's from, which was a so it goes magazine shoot (which i can't find an original link for? but if you google search it along with tyler's name, you can find the pics easily). the rural setting and b&w film and THE BUSHY BEARD ASHJKKSKK is a lovely combination imo, and this particular pic is so dynamic that i just had to have it—y'know. for art's sake xp

Welp, Dot's not in jail! But she's trying to get herself arrested...
Jack - still standing right outside Sandra’s home omfg it's a bloody wonder Beppe hasn't spotted you there...
Especially when you're being so discreet!
Sandra tells him to wait there....👀
We're much more amicable now, seemingly... He's been busy going up and down to Bristol and wants to know her thoughts on his transfer. "It's a nice place to live!" *charm offensive* Country, seaside and his family nearby!
We have to explain it all again, but yes, he still wants her and Joe to come with him.
She apologises for having to take a call from Ian, but he's a nob and just issues his ultimatum - he wants to know by tonight if it's him or Beppe...
Sandra actually goes running after him to say she can't decide that quickly. They agree to meet in the pub at lunchtime - standard!
Frank! I thought it was illegal to cheat on Barbara Windsor, that's not allowed! My god the men of EastEnders are all so needy and pathetic. And Kat Slater? Much more of a badass than my 'not like other girls' teenage self realised. But also still a bitch.
I'd been wondering from what the solicitor said that Sandra would be made to choose between staying put with her career and Joe and going with Jack to be a stay-at-home mother...but given how Ian's finances are going I think she'd do well to get out of there.

I genuinely can't believe how Sandra handled that. I guess he must do it all the time?
Oh no, he's insulted the East End as not a good place to raise a child, so does that mean he's on the wrong side of the narrative?
Also EW, when her phone keeps ringing for work and his response is "Switch it off!" I'm chucking out the spray bottle and grabbing the super-soaker. Bad man. Stop speaking.
She has to go, and he just says menacingly: "Change your mind." Fucking charmer.

There he is, phew! Still hanging around outside her house. Still making demands and ultimatums.
But Sandra says she might call him later...
Ian's really being a dick and his business is tanking, go onnnn Sandra go to Bristol and we'll forget all about the random American accents, overbearing aggression and uhh yeah no, maybe she just needs better taste in men. Head for the hills, babe!
Guess she phoned him up to arrange a date at the allotments :')
He's putting the charm on again, talking about big gardens and getting away from work stress. I know I'm sold all over again...
But Sandra feels sorry for Beppe
Jack is surprised she *also* checked about custody with a solicitor...yep, she does seem pretty capable Jack! He's pleasantly surprised, certainly.
Heart eyes motherfucker
Back at home, accompanied by an unsubtle comment about gardens, Sandra feels Beppe isn't behaving like Joe's dad but his best mate, and then Beppe accepts her criticism and is very sweet about it. Awkward!

End of Part 2! Wow, Jack has a wildly unstable personality, and Sandra, despite having said no a million times, is being presented as undecided so we can string this out a bit longer. I'm sure smarter or more assertive people than me have like, good takes about the OGL situation, but here's my personal plans/perspective, mostly just hoping to reach some of the younger folks who started with 5e.
(This is just from a hobby perspective, I can't speak to the difficulty of being a third-party creator or an actual player and those folks have so much my sympathy for such a shitty situation.)
So, Back In My Day, I started on D&D 3.5, which was great. Not perfect, very fiddly, but we liked it. Then Wizards released D&D 4e, which my friends and me (and a lot of other people) didn't like, and they stopped releasing new content for 3.5.
And we kept on playing 3.5 anyway. Because we had the books and we wanted to. So if Wizards is going into another round of being kind of crap? Build up what you need to keep playing what you want to play.
If you can afford it, get HARD COPIES of the books you like. (Thriftbooks has copies of most 5e books, I'd recommend starting there because we don't want to give Wizards more money when they're doing a cash grab, but if you buy new, support your local game store.) And while I'm not gonna outright endorse piracy, I'd be lying if I said I didn't have an external hard drive full of pdfs in college, so, you do you. If you have extra disposable income, maybe pick up an extra used copy of the PHB for when someone else needs one.
Start exploring NOW what resources your gaming group might need. Assume any online resource with D&D content COULD go down, or get locked behind a paywall, and plan accordingly. Export your character sheets. Get some cute analog dice. Screencap and print off things you can't get elsewhere. Maybe make a shared Google Drive or Dropbox folder. Get your resources under YOUR OWN control.
They can choose to be capitalist dickwads. And you can choose to stop giving them your money. There's lots of resources out there for things you can play that aren't D&D, and I play a lot of those too, but you know what, D&D is cool, and if you wanna keep playing D&D, keep playing D&D. Welcome to the ranks of the elder nerds who keep playing the game they love after the publisher has decided to leave them out to dry. Build your stockpile, get control of what you need, and fuck Hasbro.

Stealing records from a mental hospital?: Archives in the "Joker" [Part 1]
Unnamed records clerk first shown. Look at those Hollinger boxes in the background! The records are being stored correctly in this scene. Did they consult any archivists when making this film? I sure hope so.
In the October 2019 film, Joker, Arthur Fleck, who later becomes the Joker, played by Jacquin Phoenix, tries to get records about his mother. A Psychology Today article noted that the "Joker goes to the Arkham State Hospital to retrieve his mother’s records" and that the hospital "is a neglected brick building that warehouses the disturbed, with long yellow corridors, caged doors, and an overworked staff." But this is only telling part of the story. The screenplay calls it the "document & records office" in the state hospital, with a clerk, said to be in his 40s, lugging in a "heavy storage box," beginning by saying "Sorry for the wait. All our records that are 10 years or older are stored in the basement. You're talking over 30 years ago, --I had to do some serious digging." Arthur nods and she asks him if he has a release from his mother and he nods no.

As he continued to go through the files, he thinks he is making a connection, who talks about layoffs and cutbacks but then ends up insulting the clerk. Even so, the clerk, who defends themselves by saying they just file paperwork, then begins reading the file. He laments that he cannot give the file to Fleck without the right forms, saying that he needs his mom to sign a "patient disclosure form." Fleck won't take this, so he reaches under the metal cage and begins a tug of war over the file. He then bangs his head against the grate, surprising the clerk, allowing him to grab the file and run away.
He then goes to the stairwell and begins reading the file, leading to a flashback about his mother, and he reads the whole file, even more depressed about what he reads. The file does not seem to be mentioned again in the screenplay. I then went through screenshots of the film on Super Hero Screencaps to see if the film aligned with the screenplay or if there had been changes.
Fleck, who is disregarded by society, goes to the records center to find answers about his past, which could be considered a temporary repository for the hospital's records. It would be added to the city's Hall of Records, which doesn't show up in the film, but in other parts of the franchise, including in the 1992 Batman Returns film.

no but actually! it's really easy
ofc you gotta start out with a high quality screencap - i usually try to grab from 1080p video files. I use Sony Vegas to scrub through episodes for screencaps, but any video software that lets you go frame by frame will suffice.
once you've got your images of choice, plop em over into your image editing software of choice (i use sai. yes I know its for art. shhhhhhh). I use a standard of 8x8 inches for the canvas size!
after that, I'll shrink the caps down to size & mess around with the placement til its to my liking. typically that means testing the icon over a circle to see how it fits for those cut of icons as well. also gratuitously flipping the image back and forth to make sure it looks just right.
sometimes I play around with filters just a bit to enrichen colors. rarely, I'll retouch the image - either erasing something in the bg or piecing together caps to make a new image but that can be very time consuming imo.
that's all there really is to it! hope it helps :>

Sterling: "Let me get this straight, cause I'm having a hard time believing this. You're telling me you think he acted alone." [Eliot drinks some coffee]
Eliot: "That's not what I said, is it! I said I don't think that there was only one bullet! Where did you get this coffee, man, it's horrible."
Sterling: [looks at the coffee cup, then away] "Coffee's fine! If there was a second bullet, that means there was a second. shooter. Otherwise he fired a Carcano Bolt-Action twice in less than two seconds, which simply cannot be done! You do realize that, on a topic where nobody agrees on anything, you picked the one thing, the only thing, which is NOT UP FOR DEBATE! Simply! Humanly! Impossible!"
Eliot: "...I did it." [Sterling does a double-take; Eliot chuckles and takes another gulp of his coffee.]
Sterling: "Bollocks."
Eliot: "You'd be surprised what people can do when they're properly motivated - seriously, did you put something in this?" [looks at the coffee cup, then sniffs the lid]
Sterling: "Your file says that you crawled three miles through a sewer to kill the head of Al-Qaeda in Yemen, but the coffee is a problem."
Eliot: "Hey. Incoming call." [looks at the man they're surveilling through his binoculars] "We're gonna need the parabolic."
Sterling: "No, I got it." [grabs the binos from Eliot]
Eliot: "You - unless you can read lips, we're gonna need the parabolic, alright?" [snatches the binos back] "They're speaking Arabic."
Sterling: "You'd be surprised what people can do when they're properly motivated." [snatches binos back again] "He said the government won't wait. No matter the risk, gonna make the exchange today."
Eliot: "Alright, we gotta stall. Get Parker enough time to get in the vault."
Sterling: "Gonna bring the money in through the service tunnels under the sky spire, and move upstairs after the tournament to meet Livingston."
Eliot: "Alright, we'll intercept them at the tunnels." [starts to open the car door; Sterling stops him]
Sterling: "No. Let's head them off at the basement under the building. That way they'll be focused on the tournament." [He gets out of the car]
Eliot: "I just said that." [takes another drink of his coffee]

Sterling plays this so well. I'm not saying he isn't genuinely irritated by what Eliot's saying, but he is also absolutely overdoing his reactions to keep Eliot from noticing the drugged coffee. Before this scene, he tried to plan with the team and they weren't having it, he tried to coordinate a cover with Eliot and he hijacked it, he tried to discuss that and Eliot laughed at the very idea of trusting him. So Sterling goes with the drugged coffee. To ensure it succeeds, he takes advantage of Eliot's clear dislike of him, starts a conversation that will distract him.
He argues, he gets worked up, lets Eliot get the chance to put him down and get the last word and feel smug about it. Look at these screencaps - the first three are when Eliot first takes a drink and then says the coffee tastes horrible. Sterling looks at it, confused, then at Eliot, then back to the cup quickly.
He did not expect Eliot to be able to tell at just a taste like that. So he needs to up his distraction, needs to get really furious because Eliot likes pissing him off. This is when he goes off on his huge rant about there being a second shooter being impossible, and by the time he is done, look at Eliot. He gets to deliver that 'I did' line and you can just see, he's completely forgotten about the coffee. Sterling has succeeded in distracting him, to the point that Eliot takes a sip of his coffee in a victorious sort of way. And Sterling, far from being fully occupied with his disbelief over what Eliot's telling him, is actually taking this moment to watch him drink to check in on how much he's had and if he might be noticing something off again... which he then does.
So what does Sterling do? He immediately launches back into the argument. Not the same one - ignoring Eliot's coffee complaints would be out of character. But he does marginalize it, pits it against more information from Eliot's file. Eliot has enjoyed talking about - or at least alluding to - his work to Sterling, mainly when he can correct him about something. So I wouldn't be surprised if this was meant as bait to have Eliot correct him that it was "five miles, actually, and -" or whatever.
Of course, then Eliot gets distracted by the guys they're watching, and Sterling uses the back and forth of stealing the binos to distract him. He also quotes Eliot's own line about motivation back to him, clearly annoyed with Eliot's noncooperation making this necessary and also a subtle brag that yes, he is successfully drugging someone as wary as Eliot Spencer because his motivation is his daughter. Sure, he's underestimated Eliot before - but Eliot is underestimating him right now, not only with his ability to lipread Arabic but also with his ability to trick him.
And once again, he distracts Eliot enough, talks over him and plans over him enough that Eliot takes another drink of the coffee. He should be suspicious of it - he is, in fact. It's not just the joke 'Eliot says this coffee tastes drugged but keeps drinking it anyway, smooth move Eliot' - it's Sterling deliberately manufacturing circumstances where Eliot is annoyed and distracted and wants to do something to punctuate the conversation or let his frustration out. And he's holding a drink, so the natural thing to do is to drink some of it.
It's really clever on Sterling's part.

ok i had to take pictures of the DS9 s1 dvd set bc I LOVE the packaging design plus a few dvd menu screencaps i grabbed last night when I had a disc open in VLC. packaging is Very Shiny and hard to photograph without glare/getting my reflection so i did my best lol.
the transparent parts of the outer sleeve/slipcover? has a an overlay of the internal plans of DS9 printed in red that layer over the image of the station on the actual dvd case, idk how visible that is in the photo but it’s so cool!! the inner sleeve does not like sliding back in due to the flap on the spine getting in the way so it’s a little annoying to put it back but no huge problem.
i love the details on the insides of the flaps that fold out over the actual dvd spools/trays that look like the starfleet computer system interfaces from the show! also the inclusion of the the episode production numbers/in-universe stardates on the package and original airdates on the discs are such cool details!!! each disc also has a different image as well!!
and then the actual dvd menus look like the cardassian computer interfaces from the show which is like even cooler?? the dvd did load to the menu for Babel instead of the main screen for some reason tho that could just be a quirk of VLC. main menu background was playing the show’s intro (I THINK not sure was kind of doing 5 things at once last night while messing with this lol) without credits behind the menu interface
but yeah omg i’m just obsessed with how beautiful this design is and i feel super lucky for finding it for so cheap and in such nice condition!!!

Warning: Image heavy
By popular demand, aka 2 people, here is a gif tutorial. This will include how I do screenshots and actually make the gif.
You will need:
Photoshop. I use the Photoshop CC 2021 version but that’s only because I’m paying for it. There are sites you can download Photoshop on but I prefer the legal way.
MPV player or any screencapping program that takes continuous screencaps.
IMPORTANT: As I have learned, the video file you use must be 1080p or else they will look like absolute crap. Always try to get a 1080p copy no matter how long it takes.
THE PROGRAM
As stated before, I use MVP player. That can be downloaded here. If you have a mac, I would move the app off of your desktop after downloading and to the applications folder. That way it is out of your iCloud and saves so much pain and frustration.
Try to download the 0.29.0 version because later versions on macs have a glitch where there are duplicate screenshots (according to @/kylos). I had to download the 0.29.1 version because the other version won’t open at all for me after the last apple update (fuck bug sur). Anyway, I’ll probably mess up explaining this part so you can find out how to get it working here and here.
To actually screencap, press option + s. The left and right arrow keys will help you move through the video. For more shortcuts, click here.
Once that is all downloaded, now you can begin the giffing process.
THE PROCESS
Load the film you want to gif into the program, which is just a simple drag and drop. Then go through and find the scene you want to screencap.
Once I find the scene, I pause and then press option + s as mentioned above and screencap the scene. Press option + s again to stop capturing.
Now you go open photoshop and go to File --> script --> load files into stack
Then this will pop up. Hit browse...
Then open your folder with the screenshots, select the screenshots by dragging down, and then click open.
This is what it should look like. Now go through and delete the extra images you don’t need.
Now we need to crop the future gif. Click the cropping tool and at the top left there is a way to set the crop dimensions.
The ones I have saved are Tumblr’s dimension sizes. The height doesn’t matter as much as the width does. For Tumblr; 540px is for one post across, 268px is 2 posts across, and 178px is 3 across. When doing 3 across make the last one 177px or else the last one will be blurry. Click here for more info on sizing.
Today I’m going to make this 540:280. When you’re satisfied with the crop, click enter.
Here is where the fun begins! I downloaded @kylos gif action here. To activate it double click on it. To view your actions go to window --> actions. A window should pop up with your action.
There will be a folder in there called GIF ACTION. Open the folder and select the SELECT HERE!. With that selected click on the play button to activate the action.
Just like magic, you now have a gif! Your layers panel should now look like this. Next we just need to resize the gif.
Go to Image --> Image size and this box will pop up.
Resize the image to your crop size and hit ok. Your image will now be a lot smaller.
Next I go to Filter --> Blur --> Gaussian Blur. Set the blur to 1.0.
Now this will take away the sharpness when I just want it to be a bit softer. To fix this double-click on the lines next to the smart filter.
This will bring up another box to change the opacity of the blur. I change it to 20% or less. This one I’ll make 15%. Hit ok when done.
One last thing is I fix the radius of the sharpening. Click on the bottom sharpening layer. A box should open.
Change the radius to 0.4 and hit ok.
Before closing, open the timeline window by window --> timeline. If you want to cut down on the frames, grab either one of the grey bars on the beginning and end of the gif and drag to where you want it to start and end.
It’s now time to save. Go to File --> Export --> Save for Web (Legacy)...
This will pop up. Here you can see how many frames you have and how big the file is. I usually start off as close to 10mb as I can get. There are multiple ways you can save it but here are my settings.
Then save your gif to wherever you want it. But we aren’t done yet.
Close the gif. You don’t have to save the psd but you can if you want to. Then reopen the gif in Photoshop. Everything you used before should still be open, aka the windows for actions and timeline.
Your screen will look like this. As you may notice, the gif speed is all over the place. The best speed for gifs is 0.5. This guide is very helpful.
To get the gif to that speed, I dowloaded another action here. Add it to your actions as instructed above.
Open the Change to .05 folder and select the SELECT HERE!. With that selected click on the play button to activate the action, same as above.
And viola it is now the correct speed! But our gif doesn't look too great. It’s time to fix that up with some coloring.
COLORING
These are my coloring layers. Make sure they are on top of all of the layers.
Here is what it looks like now after the coloring. You may notice the effect has only been added to one layer of the X amount of frames you have.
To fix this select the coloring layers and then go to the 3 lines at the top right of the box.
Click on this to open a dropdown box and click match layer across frames.
Make sure all the checks are marked and hit ok.
Now all the layers have the coloring layers applied.
Remember when we were saving the gif and it was over 10mb. Well now it’s time to fix that.
I like to go in and check the size after coloring because sometimes that can lower the gif size.
It did in this case so that creates less work. Close out of that and go back to your timeline. It’s time to delete some frames.
You can select multiple frames at once by holding down shift as you select. I typically click around 5 to 10 at a time and make sure you don’t miss a single frame. I’m going to select more towards to the end.
Then click delete (the trashcan icon).
Go back to export. If it is still too big delete some frames. In my case it was still too big so I have to delete more frames.
I now have it to around where I want it. It is less than 10 mb and sometimes that is better. So save your gif. I usually save it as [filename]final.
QUALITY
To check the quality of the gif I go to Tumblr and go to make a photo post.
DO NOT post. Instead save it as a draft. Go to your drafts and see how it looks from your dash. If it looks pixelated then go back into photoshop and delete fames. Repeat the following steps until it is to your liking.
And then you have your final product!
