You and Clark become close and certain people don't like it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
⚠️ Warning a bit of spiciness at the end of the chapter ⚠️
Okay so uh you were asked by Chole to meet at the talon to help her find out more Information on meteor freaks only to be ganged up by her and Lana.
"Uh okay girlies what's happening right?" Chole grabs my hands looking me straight in the eye.
"Y/n you know me and you are friends."
"Yeah?"
"And I have no issues with you even if you are a goth".
"Okay thanks for the reminder that I'm goth but go on."
"And as your friend I need you to be completely honest with me."
"And Lana?" You say confusingly looking towards Lana who awkwardly waved.
"Yes and Lana."
"Okay??"
"And we both just want to know...what's going on between you and Clark?" Chole says straight to the point. You look between her and Lana who looked a bit flustered.
Yeah definitely should have saw that coming okay so a couple of weeks ago you saved Clark from a a meteor freak which ended up with you having to help him by revealing that you had powers AKA you were a witch that was passed down to your family for generations of course he had to reveal his secret which you already kind of knew about but didn't want to say anything so we became close before we didn't really talk much yeah we had classes together and sat next to each other but we usually just said our hellos did our work and sometimes I'll even help him study other than that we weren't all the close until we both revealed secret. My parents were upset with me at first but until I explained everything we had a talk with the Kent's now everything was fine! You and Clark became friends helping each other with stopping Meteor freaks from causing problems we even hung out a couple of times okay all the time don't judge. Everyone thought it was weird that the quiet and loner goth girl and the clumsy farm boy started to become close even his friends thought it was weird cause he spent more with you than them he didn't even pay Lana that much attention anymore! I mean I know that Chloe has a crush on Clark and you know that Clark has feelings for Lana but he hasn't really acted any different he does not as clumsy and flustered around her as much as she used to I guess he stopped liking her? But back to the matter at hand!
"What do you mean? That's when Lana spoke up.
"You and Clark have been hanging out a lot recently and it's just um new!"
"New as in?" I free my hands from Chloe's crossing my arms giving a raised eyebrow up the two girls.
"You two barely used to talk and now your walking down the hallway hold hands or flirting!" Chole says confused Lana nods her head in agreement. I just roll my eyes hand on my forehead you could already feel a migraine coming on.
"Okay one I hold his hand because I'm small and I easily get lost in the crowd and second we do not flirt!"
"Y/n you literally were flirting with him! I mean this morning for example!"
(flashback!)
All I'm saying is that maybe you should wear black more often Clark!
"Thanks but I'll stick to my regular clothes from now on I don't think I would look good in Black." He says
"You'd look absolutely dashing in black your already a handsome farm boy the ladies won't be able to keep their hands off you if you start getting a bad boy look."
He leans his arm on his locker looking me straight in the eye with a smile.
"So you think I'm handsome huh?"
You look up at him stepping close to his face grabbing his chin causing him to blush pink.
"Don't let it get to your head farm boy." I say with a smirk grabbing my books from my locker walking away to my next class, Clark quick grabs his stuff following after you. Not knowing that Chole and Lana saw the whole thing looking at each other in disbelief.
(end flashback!)
"What the hell were you guys doing watching us in the first place?!"
"We just happened to see you two there okay! But that's not the point! Why are you two suddenly so close now!"
"Even if there was something going on between me and Clark why do you care exactly?"
"B-because your my friend and his my friend too and I don't know! It just feels like something happened between you two and neither of you said anything to me!"
Pfft yeah right! Sounds like jealousy too me but you didn't say that because you didn't want to make a Chole pop a vein.
"Okay that's true but that doesn't explain why Lana is here because last time I checked we aren't friends." I saying turning my attention to the really quiet girl she looked at me embarrassed.
"I was also a bit curious" you let out an annoyed groan okay if this Is how they want to play it, so be it your fair game.
"I wish you guys would be more honest, ya know seeing as your always giving Clark shit about honesty."
"What are you talking about?"
"Seriously Lana? Me and you have never ever been friends we are decent towards each other but that's about it. So tell me the real reason of why you and Chloe decide to gang up on me?" She frowns starting to get defensive.
"Nobody's gagging up on you! We just want to know what was going on with you and Clark that's it!"
"What's happens between me and Clark is none of your damn business!"
"Clark is my friend Y/n!"
"Ha yeah and that's all he's ever going to be to you right?"
"What's that supposed too mean?"
"You know what I mean." You stare her down causing her to look anywhere but your pierced gaze.
"I-i'm just worried about him!"
"Worried about him? All because he's hanging out with another female?"
"But your not just another female your..." She stops herself looking at Chole who let's out a sigh.
"Y/n just forget it."
"Hell no! Let her finish what she got to say, I'm what?"
"Your different! He acts different around you and I don't like it!" And there it. Lana Lang finally admits that she is jealous of Clark Kent with another girl this would be funny if you weren't so pissed off.
"Seriously you two just wasted my whole day with this bullshit!"
"You don't understand how we feel Clark always keeps secrets and doesn't trust us even though we're his friends but you come along and all of a sudden-"
"Honestly Chloe you have no room to talk cuz you give Clark so many reasons to why he cannot trust you with any of his secrets! You call yourself his friend but then you're so obsessed with knowing everything about everyone for your wall or weird or for your story that you forget about boundaries especially when it comes to your friends!" That shut her up but she still looked pissed than you turned too Lana.
"For your information Clark and I have gotten closer because I've had some issues at home. If it was something more than that I'm pretty sure Chloe would have been the first one to know and then she'd tell you seeing as you both have a crush on the poor farm boy." They both looked at you shocked and horrified.
"Oh don't act so damn shocked girls if Clark was dating me, you both won't have to force yourself to be around each other."
"I hardly doubt we'd have to worry." Lana says arms crossed.
"Oh? Why don't you elaborate on that for me Lang." You glared her down waiting for her to say something but Chole beat her too it.
"Your not his type! There that's what you wanted to hear right? You aren't Clark's type he'd never go out with somebody like you!" Chole yells out causing me and Lana to look at her shocked.
"Wow... just wow." I get up closing my eyes clenching my fist you could feel your magic wanting to be let out, if you didn't get out of here soon you were going to lose control and you couldn't risk hurting either of the two idiotic girls.
"Y/n wait that's not what I meant!" Chole gets up trying to reach out for you but you step back away from her hands shaking you were about to burst.
"Oh no I think that's exactly what you meant Chloe. You meant that from the bottom of your heart." Just as you were about to snap on the blonde you feel someone hand on your shoulder you turn to see Clark with a frown on his face.
"C-clark what are you doing here?"
He just ignored Lana's question walking to grab my bag gently grabbing hold of my hand walking towards the door.
"Clark wait please you have to understand!" Lana yells out but Clark just glares at her which stops her in her tracks.
"I understand your just looking out for me. But me and Y/n relationship has nothing to do with either of you. From now on stay away from us!" He yells at the two slamming the door on his way out once we walk behind the alley away from prying eyes he picks me up bridal style and starts running to his house.
Once at farm he sat me down gently sitting me on his bed I was quiet the whole time so he brought me soome tea and some cookies sitting next to me.
"Are you okay?" I nod but honestly felt angry and slightly embarrassed.
"Did you hear that whole conversation?"
"Only the middle part. Y/n what happened?"
"Oh you know just girls being girls. Having a bit of a disagreement with each other." He sighs grabbing my hand in his.
"I thought we both agreed to be honest with each other when we both were feeling down?" You let out a sigh putting down the tea looking at him.
"They claim that you've been acting different since me and you have been close."
"Meaning?"
"They think that we're in a relationship Clark." He looks at you cheeks turning red he looks away letting out a cough before turning back to you still red faced.
"Oh...um what makes them think that?"
"They admitted that they didn't like the fact that you were more open with me and rather spend the whole day together...then there's the locker incident."
"Locker incident?"
"This morning by the lockers? Chole claims that we were flirting." He stares at you looking confused.
"You mean...we weren't?" I turned my head at him so face I nearly broke my neck.
"What? No of course not!"
"Well you are a bit flirty."
"Clark Kent what makes you say that!"
"Okay um don't get mad but you do like sitting on my lap like a lot."
"Your lap is comfy!"
"You always play with my hair and force me to lay my head on your lap."
"Your hair is soft and it calms me down when I'm anxious sue me why don't ya!
"Kissing all over my face? Which I don't mind but it's hard to remove black lipstick and my parents always tease me about it." I stare at him flabbergasted standing up hands on my hips than turning to glare at him.
"Well how about you huh?" He looked dumbfounded.
"What about me?"
"Grabbing my hip? Holding my hand when we walk? Asking me to hang out after school!"
"T-that's what friends do Y/n!"
"Ha friends my ass! I've never seen you do that to Chole!"
"That's different I think of Chole like a sister!"
"Uh huh whatever you say Farmboy!"
"Stop calling me that!" He gets up towering over me I didn't back down through crossing my arms looking up at his blue eyes.
"What are you going to do about it FARMBOY?"
We were so close to each other it almost looked like we were going to kiss he kept glancing at my lips which caused me to scoff.
"Well?"
"Well what?"
"Are you going to kiss me or just stare at my lips all day Farmboy?" I lean in his face close to lightly touch his lips with mine to tease him.
He glares at me than grabs my face and kisses me fully on the lips I let out surprise gasp but quickly melt into the kiss pulling him closer his lips were so soft did I mention I had to stand on my tippy toes just to kiss him? I don't know how long we kissed but I know for one thing I needed to breathe! So you push him back a bit with all your strength which you had to use a bit of your magic cause damn this boy was strong and clearly had to be reminded that we both needed to breath!
"This... doesn't change a thing! We are just friends!"
"Yeah...."
"...."
"....."
"....fuck it"
I grab his face kiss him on the lips he pulls me closer his hands on my hips picking me up, sitting me on his desk than starts to kiss down my neck causing me to lout a small moan, grabbing on to his shirt trying to rip it off his body while his hands grab at my ass giving a harsh squeeze.
so much for just being friends huh?

Too Late
Tumblr media
Pairing: Clark Kent x plus size witch reader
Summary: All you ever wanted was for Clark to be happy, even if it wasn't you
requested by @salenorona23
You were typing furiously by your monitor, eyes glued on the screen.
You mutter under your breath, cursing your boss, Perry.
“You okay there?”
You look up and see Clark walking up to you in your seat.
“No, Perry didn’t like my pitch. I had to start from scratch.” You said in frustration.
"Don't worry, he does that to me 4 times a week." He said.
"Don't you pitch four stories a week?" You ask.
"Exactly." He replied, making you both laugh.
"Smallville, we need to head for lunch before I start tearing off heads." Lois Lane said as she was scrimmaging her bag, not bothering to say hello to you.
"You wanna join us? We could all split the bill at that chinese restaurant downtown." He asks.
"I brought some food in the break room. And I know not to get in the way with your pork dumplings. Have fun with Lois." You said, returning to your screen.
He smiles at you and runs after Lois. He stops in his track as he looks back at you, wondering how you knew his order if you two never really hung out before?
He shakes his head and caught up to Lois as they made their way to the restaurant.
A few minutes passed, and you got up from your desk and headed to the break room. Now that you were alone, you locked the door and pulled out a small mirror that fit inside of your tote back and muttered a short phrase.
"Show me him."
The mirror swirled with a purple light and transformed your reflection into the present, where you saw Clark laughing at what Lois said. They looked like they were having a time of their mundane lives.
You hated it, but you can't look away. The way he looked at her... it was the same way he looked at you.
But he doesn't remember.
It happened about a few months ago. There was an accident at a LexCorp building as it begun to collapse down. Clark was running late from a date to save everyone that night, but right when he was about to fly out, his powers gave out. The room radiated with blue kryptonite, a rock that took away his powers and made him an ordinary man. He tried to escape, but too much debris knocked him down and made him unconscious.
You were waiting for him at the restaurant where you'd meet up. Yes, there were occasions that Clark would come late... but you knew in your gut something was wrong as you didn't see Clark in sight, so you used your powers to transport to where he was.
No good ever happened when people knew your secret as you reformed from an evil Covet, except to Clark.
He accepted you without hesitation and loved every part of you that you hated. And you helped he realized he wasn't alone. Your emotions took you to where he was, and you panicked as you saw him on the ground, unconscious. You made a force field around you as you transported out with a spell. You were far away to God knows where and you tried to wake him up.
"Please..." You begged him to just open his eyes.
He did in fact opened those beautiful blue piercing eyes that had hints of green in them.
But they were in confusion as he saw you.
"What's going on? What just happened?" He asks as he shuffles up, trying to get away from you.
"You were struck by some debris, I transported us out in time-"
"If a building collapsed, it's not safe for you to be here, ma'am."
That's when you choked on the air you were breathing as you heard what he just said.
He forgot who you were.
He gets up in alert, as they were more to do to help the civilians during the catastrophe.
"Let me fly you out to safety and-"
"No, it's alright. My home's not too far from here and, I didn't get hurt." You said.
Superman looked unsure if he should leave you, but others needed his help.
"Please take care." He says before he flies away, leaving you.
Your chest tightens as you fall on your knees, trying to hold back a sob so he doesn't hear you cry.
So many things could be done to regain his memory. You could show him all these pictures and cheesy letters you wrote to each other. You could tell him that you know of his home planet. You could use your powers!
But you couldn't.
If a witch used their powers on a mortal's mind, it could dissolve all of their memories in just a single second. The damage would be unfixable. You can't imagine the pain Clark would go through if you did that to him, or either show him a reality that he may not with you.
So... you decided to erase your entire relationship. Clark and you were never open about your relationship to anyone. You were a very private person and Clark respected your wishes (He called his mom though and briefly told her that he thinks he found the one.)
Using his spare key at his apartment, you went inside and just took away everything that was associated to you.
The pictures in the frames, the coffee mug you bought him for his birthday, you took everything away.
It was painful for you, but it had to be done.
You were unsure how'd he react if he saw you at work, but he just assumed that you were just a writer at the Daily Planet that he hadn't met yet.
"Hi, I don't think we met. I'm Clark Kent." He said, offering you his hand to shake.
As you see his features, it was like you were staring back at another person. None of his shared memories he had appeared to him, and he didn't expect that you saw him as Superman that night.
You had to bite your tongue momentarily and smile, returning the same friendly nature.
"It's nice to meet you."
You thought you two would be closer and maybe you can form more memories with him. But you saw how he looked at Lois. She was fearless, driven, and the best journalist there was on your floor.
Was she a bit blunt? Yeah, but she was like that to everyone, so no one took offense as she was also really understanding. You couldn't be upset with her, not when she made Clark happy. It killed you every night, as you slept in your bed alone, wishing he was there to hold you. But you'd be selfish, stripping away a new life he made for himself.
So you stayed at an arm's length. But you made sure that he was ok... or rather you kept on checking on him to see if he remembered.
The days past on, and one problem was after another. Lex Luthor was desperate to get his hands on kryptonian technology and Clark wouldn't stand for it. So when Luther revived General Zod and created Doomsday, it was the hardest fight Clark had to face.
You saw the explosions from afar and saw the red caped hero trying defeat him, but it was no use. Even with Batman and the Amazonian Warrior, it was hard to keep him at bay.
They needed help, or else this would be a losing battle.
You transported nearby, waiting for the opportunity to attack. And that's when you saw it, the green kryptonite spear that they tried to kill Doomsday with.
The Amazonian Warrior tried to restrain it with her lasso and batman blew a kryptonian grenade at the beast.
And that's when you saw Clark, who looked almost beaten as Lois was trying to let him stay away. You knew what he was going to do... Clark was a selfless man. He flew away to protect Lois picking up the spear and headed towards Doomsday.
But suddenly, a power restrained him from going any farther. He tried to resist the force that was on him, but then he heard a voice.
"Stop, don't fight it."
He turns his head and saw you running towards him with a worried gaze.
Clark was confused at your presence.
"You shouldn't be here! You gotta get out of-"
"Clark." You stopped him as a tear rolled down your face.
You stepped forward, placing a hand on his cheek. Why did it feel so familiar to him?
"I lost you once, I'm not going to lose you again."
You took the staff away from his grasp and you levitated away from him as he tried to break from your spell. He thinks on your words, saying that you lost him. He winces as a spur of a memory flashes in his mind.
Clark looks up in fear.
"No, NO! STOP HER!" He yelled out to Bruce and Diana but it was no use.
You neared the ferocious beast with the lightning surrounding you both. You took your shot and traveled the spear through its chest using the strength you had.
It yells in pain and tries to get a hold of you, but you created different versions of yourself to confuse doomsday. But it became smarter and swatted its arms till it caught the real you. Doomsday then pierced you in your abdomen.
You were in unbelievable pain, but you had one more chance. You raised your hands to the spear, using one last spell to reach to the inner core of doomsday. Then suddenly, a burst of light goes up in the air, knocking you backwards away from the beast.
As you lost your focus, Clark was now free from your enchantment and flew over to you, holding you upward.
"Hey, hey, c'mon." he whispers to you as he tried to stop the bleeding.
"Did I- I stop it?" You stuttered.
He nods, trying to smile to stay strong as he could hear your heartbeat beating slower.
"Yes. You did it. You're going to be okay. I'll fly you up to the nearest hospital, they'll patch you up good as new."
"I think... we both know that's not possible." You fluttered your eyes, about to lose consciousness.
"No no no, stay with me. I - I... I remember now. I remembered every Sunday afternoon when we watch those bad rom coms and I hold you close to me. I remembered when we always bought each other flowers for no apparent reason. I remembered that I... I wanted to marry you."
You smiled back, giving a heartful chuckle before you began to cough. Clark held you a bit tighter in his chest.
"I would have loved to be yours again." You whispered.
"You were always mine... Imma fool to forget you." He said, tears pricking his eyes.
"I... forgive you, Clark. I just wanted you to be... happier." You closed your eyes again, but they never opened.
"Baby? Baby wake up." He tried placing his hand softly on your cheek but it was cold. He tried listening to a heartbeat but there was silence.
Clark broke into a blood curdling scream. He pleads to anyone to bring you back, to just open your eyes so he could see them once more.
And those around him saw the strongest man in the world break down as he lost someone who loved him.
Now, he was too late.

Man or Superman?|| Jamie Drysdale x reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
•pairing: Jamie Drysdale x reader
•summary: You and Jamie dress up as Clark Kent and Lana Lang from Smallville for the Ducks annual Halloween party
•warnings: talks of alcohol consumption and lots of fluff<3
Halloween 2023
"Jamie baby!" you called from the entryway of your shared home, "you and Trev almost ready?" You applied some more lip gloss to your lips in the mirror on the wall next to the staircase as you waited to hear your boyfriends response.
"Yeah, we'll be down in a minute."
You smiled at your reflection in the mirror as you fluffed up your hair a bit more. You heard heavy footsteps pounding down the stairs, signaling that your boyfriend and his best friend were finished getting ready. Even though Jamie doesn't live with him anymore, he and Trevor are still inseparable. Your smile widened as you saw Jamie's reflection appear in the mirror next to yours. You turned around and took in the full costume your boyfriend was wearing. He looked perfect, but in your eyes, Jamie always looked perfect.
"Look at you," you crooned, "you make a perfect Clark Kent."
Jamie blushed at your words as a wide grin pulled at his lips. He walked up to you and wrapped his arms around your waist, gently pulling you into him. "Thank you," he said sweetly, "you make a perfect Lois Lane."
"Lana Lang."
"Lana Lang!" Jamie corrected, his blush deepening as he realized he said the wrong name. He couldn't believe he got the characters name wrong again. He grimaced slightly, softly mumbling "sorry" under his breath. You shook your head and chuckled softly at how flustered Jamie was.
"It's alright J," you reassured, "you'll get it by the end of the night." You said with a wink, making Jamie smile sweetly. You got up on your tip toes and pressed a soft kiss to his smooth cheek before you pulled away from him to put your boots on.
This year for Halloween, you and Jamie were dressed up as Clark Kent and Lana Lang from the 2000's tv show Smallville. The two of you binged the show about teenage Clark Kent during Jamie's recovery from shoulder surgery last season. You both fell in love with the show, watching too many episodes in one night for many weeks straight. While you binged the show, you constantly told Jamie that he resembled teenage Clark--which never failed to make the boy blush. So since you thought he looked like Clark, you decided that dressing up as Clark Kent and his love interest during his teenage years, Lana Lang, would be perfect for Halloween this year.
You tried to get Trevor to dress up as Lex Luthor, but he refused. He says it's because you and Jamie deserve to do a couples costume this year, but you think it's really because he just doesn't want to wear a bald cap.
So instead Trevor is going as a Ghostbuster again, this time with Mason McTavish and not Jamie, leaving you and Jamie by yourselves in your couples costume. Which neither of you are complaining about at all. It's a nice change to get to do a costume theme with just the two of you for once.
Once you zipped up your black boots, you followed Jamie into the kitchen to grab your purse. Trevor walked into the kitchen shortly after the two of you, grabbing a water bottle from off the counter. He looked at the two of you with raised eyebrows as he took a generous gulp of water. He wiped water off of his lip and pointed at Jamie.
"Dude, you really do look like Clark."
"Thanks bud."
Trevor gave a curt nod as he turned his attention to you. He wolf whistled as he his eyes trailed up your body, "You make a good Lana, Y/n/n."
You shook your head, rolling your eyes playfully at Trevor as the sound of his infectious laughter filled the room. "Shut up, Z. But thanks, J thinks so too."
Trevor wiggled his eyebrows at Jamie as he leaned agaisnt the kitchen counter. He let out a dramatic sigh as he did so. "So what are you Jimmy, man or superman?" Trevor teased Jamie, a playful smirk on his face as he eyed his best friend. Jamie chuckled in response, shaking his head at Trevor as he replied, "I haven't really figured it out yet."
"Hey," you said, shooting Trevor a look of feigned hurt, "you stole my line." Trevor just stuck his tongue out at you as pushed himself off the counter and grabbed the keys to his bronco. He twirled the set of keys in his hand, walking toward the front door of yours and Jamie's house.
"Come on lovers, don't wanna be late!" Trevor called from over his shoulder as he walked out of your home. Jamie put his hand on the small of your back, chuckling to himself as as he led you to the front door and out of the house.
"Trev," you said cautiously as you walked toward his car, "should you be driving if your going to be drinking?"
"Don't worry about me princess, Smallville here said he'd be DD."
"Smallville?" You and Jamie both asked at the same time, both your brows raised in amusement. "Yup," Trevor said, popping the "p", "that's my new nickname for him."
"You know," you began, "you should've dressed up as Lois Lane. We could've had a little love triangle going on." You teased, reaching out to poke Trevor's shoulder as he backed out of your driveway.
"Ha," he laughed, "you wish."
Jamie shook his head, "I disagree, I think Lex would've been better. I'd love to see Z in a bald cap."
"Shut up, or you're walking to this party."

Love and Neighbors
Clark Kent x Reader Chapters AO3
35-Four-Eyes
You had visited the Daily Planet once before, on one of the first visits to Clark right when you started dating. It was a nice place, but not much since it was just a journalism office with people just working. Clark, nonetheless, was so excited to show off his workspace, telling you every detail from how Carrie down the hall just found out that her husband was cheating on her with their gardener to the best water fountain. He was adorable during the whole experience, and, despite the dread in your chest, you tried to share his joy completely. There was still one part of the tour you were glad you missed. In the few hours you had spent there you hadn’t met the girl that everyone said Superman loved; Lois Lane.
It wasn’t that you didn’t like Lois—You didn’t know her to not like her. From what Clark had told you, they’d been friends, he had thought there was something there, but he was mistaken. Clark must have felt your hesitance because he simply dismissed all the Superman and Lois Lane headlines as just that; it was just some words on a piece of paper to sell, nothing more. Yet, that didn’t stop the slight jealousy from making its way into the darkest parts of your mind.
That’s why, as you waited for Clark to return to his desk, you stared at Lois from across the room so intently. She was beautiful, with a slender figure, perfect black hair, and the type of aura that just radiated coolness. You wondered if she ever returned Clark’s feelings, but you stopped the thought short after you became bitter. Sighing, you looked down at the desk to distract yourself. It was a cluttered mess with papers sprawled around it and pens scattered.
When the mess became too much for your eyes, you looked up again. When you did, right across from you was Lois Lane, in all her beautiful glory, staring back at you. She studied you for a second like she trying to place you somewhere before it looked like it clicked. Like she was made of water, she glided from her chair with such grace that you thought Superman must have shown her a trick or two to move such a way.
When she finally reached you, she put her palms flat on the other side of Clark’s desk, looking down at you with a serious face. “You’re who Smallville is dating, huh?”
“Yeah,” You said shyly.
“Hm,” She said, eyes giving you a once over. “He’s got good taste, you’re pretty. You from around here?”
“No.”
“Hm. How’d you meet Clark?” She sat on the edge of the desk.
You cleared your throat, cheeks heating up. Lois was a lot prettier up close, and you couldn’t help but feel a bit flushed. “We—we’re neighbors.”
“Neighbors, huh?” Lois looked like she didn’t believe you before leaning closer toward me. “You gotta tell me, does Clark always do that thing with his glasses—you know, where he takes them off, looks at them then puts them…”
“Back on his face, then repeats it like thirty minutes later?” You smiled, leaning forward.
She laughed. “Yes! Why does he do that?”
Before you could respond there was suddenly a different voice, “Totally. Such a weirdo, right?”
The two of you stopped to look at him before breaking out into a fit of giggles. Suddenly, Lois got up from her spot on the desk. “Wanna leave four-eyes behind and get some lunch? This place be a bit of a bore when you’re just sitting around.”
You looked to Clark who looked like he wanted to take offense to the nickname but couldn’t with how well the two of you were getting along. Not that you knew, but he was terrified of how well his best friend and his partner would mesh together. One of the reasons why it took him so long for him to introduce you. When your eyes met he gave you a slight nod and you got up to follow Lois out, giving him a kiss on the lips in passing. Clark thought about following you, but he second-guessed himself when it occurred to him that would probably be better to stay behind and be spared any more cruel remarks.
Taking his seat, Clark removed his glasses and commented to himself quietly, “I like to make sure they’re clean.”

Not alone in the spotlight
Lucy Lane x Male Reader
Request - Lucy Lane (Superman and Lois version) x male!reader where y/n is Clark's brother. The story starts where Lucy was in a low point in her life where she lost her job and her fiance. So instead of Lucy staying with Ally, she stayed with y/n. Lucy develops feeling for him but is afraid to get her heart broken. Clark questions about a hickey on his neck.
Tumblr media
It's raining hard with thunderstorms and Y/n is sleeping. He heard someone knock on the door but he thought it was a dream. A minute later, he kept hearing the door now he goes out of bed. He opened the door and he is in shock, it’s Lucy Lane and she is soaked.
“Come in. What the hell, Lucy” Y/n said.
“I didn’t know where else to go. And I’m not in good terms with Lois” Lucy said.
“I’m just glad you didn’t go back to Ally. Wait here, I will grab a towel” Y/n said.
Lucy starts to shiver and he went to get the towel. He gave her the towel and she starts to dry her face.
“Thanks,” Lucy said.
“Lucy, what is going on,” Y/n said.
“I hit rock bottom, Y/n. I don't know who am I anymore. Feels like, I'm in a rabbit hole and I don't know how to get out of it” Lucy said.
“Stay the night and I will put the hot water on for you. I don't want you to feel alone and I will always be here for you. I will help you get through it” Y/n said.
“Yeah,” Lucy said.
Y/n went to turn on the hot water for her. Then he gave Lucy, his pajamas and a bathrobe and she went to take a shower. She comes out and you are making tea for her.
“Does your sister know that you are here?” Y/n asked.
“Actually, she doesn't know that I'm back in Smallville,” Lucy said.
“Oh... Do you want her to know?” Y/n said.
“I will tell her soon. Are you making tea?” Lucy said.
“Yeah, I made tea. I don't want you to get sick” Y/n said.
“Thank you, Y/n,” Lucy said in a low voice.
He placed the tea in front of her and she starts to drink it. A bit later, in the bedroom, you make space for her on the bed.
“You can sleep here and I will sleep in the living room,” Y/n said.
“Please stay, Y/n. I don't want to sleep alone” Lucy said.
“Yeah, sure. I will grab an extra blanket” Y/n said.
She lies in bed and he comes back with the extra blanket. They are lying next to each other and they don't say anything, they just go to sleep.
------
Y/n drives to Clark’s farm and Lucy is in the jeep. She texted Lois that she is back in town, Clark thought it would be a good idea to have a family dinner together.
“It will be fine,” Y/n said.
“I did miss everyone,” Lucy said.
They get out of the jeep. Lois hugged Lucy and they are happy to see each other. Jon and Jordan are happy to see their uncle Y/n, they gave him fives. Later, Y/n helped Clark spend time together with the boys. Lucy and Lois wanted to talk alone together, then they started to yell at each other.
“I lost everything! I lost my career, my fiance, and myself!” Lucy yelled.
“I tried to being there for you! But you kept pushing me, dad, and anyone who tried to help you. I still want to be there for you, but please don't go back to Ally is very dangerous” Lois said.
“I’m not going back to Ally, I swear,” Lucy said.
Lois hugged her sister tight. Y/n played football with Jonathan and Jordan then Y/n went to check up on Lucy.
-------
Lucy is still living with Y/n and he likes having her around the apartment. But Y/n and Lucy developed a friend-with-benefits relationship. She did develop feelings for him but she is scared to get closer to Y/n. She does wonder if Y/n does have feelings for her.
Y/n agreed to be the football equipment manager to help Clark. They are watching the boys play football then Clark noticed something on Y/n’s neck.
“Y/n, what is on your neck? Is that a hickey?” Clark asked.
“I don't know what you are talking about,” Y/n said.
“Oh wow, that is a hickey. Wait, you have a new girlfriend and you didn't tell me!?” Clark said.
“Focus on the team,” Y/n said.
Y/n pulls up his collar to hide the hickeys and Clark just laughed. They are close brothers but Y/n doesn't want to tell anyone that he is having sex with Lucy.
“I will figure it out,” Clark said.
“Whatever, Clark and you won't find out,” Y/n said.
Y/n continued to help Clark during football practice.
✬ ✫ ✯ ✬
Y/n has been trying to help Lucy feel better about herself. Lucy is home watching a movie then suddenly Y/n comes through the door with a Christmas tree and he has on a Santa hat.
“Wow, Y/n” Lucy laughed.
“Hey, Lucy. Well, I actually thought we can decorate a tree together. And I thought we can bring color into the apartment” Y/n smiled.
“I guess we can do that. But we don't have Christmas ornaments” Lucy said.
“I got that covered. Shall we get started?” Y/n smiled.
Lucy couldn't help to smile and she said yes. Y/n takes out the fake tree from the box and Lucy starts to open the boxes of ornaments. Now they start to set the tree in the living room. Lucy is putting the led lights on it.
“I knew this will be fun with you,” Y/n said.
“It is fun. But you have bad taste in Christmas ornaments” Lucy giggled.
“I like that one of Garfield wearing a hat,” Y/n said.
“Such a dork” Lucy giggled.
Now they start to put the ornaments on the tree. Lucy is really having a good time and can't stop smiling. They take a selfie by the tree and they continue to decorate the tree.
Y/n leans in and kissed her on the lips. She wrapped her arms around his shoulders and she starts to kiss him back.
“Lucy, I'm in love with you,” Y/n said.
She puts her hand on his cheek.
“I have feelings for you too... But I don't want to get my heart broken again” Lucy said.
“We can take it slow. I don't want you to get in a relationship with me when you don't feel you are ready. I will wait for you, Lucy” Y/n said.
Lucy kissed him again.
“You are so good to me,” Lucy said.
He hugged her and kissed her head, she holds him for a few seconds more.
------
Before Y/n and Lucy go see Lois and Clark, they are doing last-minute Christmas shopping. Once they entered the house, everyone hugs them. Y/n is helping Lois in the kitchen.
“Y/n, do you know if Lucy is dating someone?” Lois asked.
“Dating someone?” Y/n asked.
“I noticed that Lucy has hickeys on her neck and she smiles more when she gets a text. I asked her but she didn't give me a straight answer” Lois said.
“I don't know if she is dating someone,” Y/n said.
“Can you find out for me? I don't want to see her heart get broken again” Lois said.
“Okay, I will try to find out,” Y/n said.
“Thank you. I owe you one, Y/n” Lois smiled.
“Sure...” Y/n said.
Lois and Clark start to set up the table. Y/n is still in the kitchen and Lucy walked in, he told Lucy what he and Lois talked about. He put his hands on her waist and she starts to smile.
“I like sneaking around with you,” Lucy said.
“Me too” Y/n smiled.
She starts to kiss him, she starts to smile and he put his hands on her ass. Then Jonathan and Jordan walked into the kitchen...
“No way!” Jonathan and Jordan said very loud
Lucy and Y/n moved away from each other.
“Don’t tell your parents” Y/n said.
“We won't tell unless...” Jonathan smirked.
“Unless, what?” Lucy asked.
“Give us fifty dollars and we won't tell anyone,” Jordan said.
Lucy and Y/n looked at each other.
“Each. Give us fifty dollars each” Jonathan said.
“Fine,” Y/n said.
Y/n takes out his wallet and gives them fifty dollars each. Jonathan and Jordan start to smile at each other and they leave the kitchen.
After dinner, everyone starts to open the gifts. The boys didn't tell their parents about their uncle Y/n kissing Lucy. Y/n did buy Lucy a gift and she liked the necklace. Clark and Lois still have no idea that Lucy and Y/n like each other.
✬ ✫ ✯ ✬
Y/n took Lucy to the city for the week. Lucy still wants to take it slow with Y/n before rushing into a relationship. Y/n will still wait for her and he is okay taking it slow. But tonight, Lucy and Y/n went ice skating, and they are holding hands while they ice skated.
“Having fun?” Y/n asked.
“Yeah, I'm having fun. I haven't ice skated since I was a teenager” Lucy said.
“When I first ice skated, I fell a lot that I sprained my wrist,” Y/n said.
“Oh, that's not fun. But don't you heal faster?” Lucy said.
“At the time no. It was my first time on earth so it took a while for me to get used to being on earth and using my powers” Y/n said.
“Oh,” Lucy said.
They skated for a while then they went to get something to eat. Lucy surprised Y/n with a kiss and they smiled at each other. But he did kiss her back then they head back to the hotel and they watch the fireworks together.

Best of 2023
Hi there,
This week, we're celebrating the 2 year anniversary of my website and blog (well, just under 2 years, it officially launched on Jan 1). So, to round out this year with the blog and in general, I thought I'd do a little roundup of my personal "Best of" 2023. This is more a list of stuff I really dug this year than a formal ranking of any sort, and a lot of this isn't necessarily new in 2023, so much as stuff I discovered (and rediscovered) this year! Some things will get a little extra blurb, some things will just be listed. Alright, without further ado, my best of 2023!
PODCASTS: Dungeons & Daddies - Legitimately, 90% of my podcast listening this year was either Dungeons & Daddies or Blank Check. I don't even think I meant for it to be like that, it's just how it happened. As a work of collaborative fiction, I really love Dungeons & Daddies. It's a super funny show and this past week-ish, I've been relistening to Season 2 so far and have just been delighting in it.  Blank Check My Year in MENSA Solve This Murder The Real Housewives of Dungeons & Dragons Abandoning the Premise - Haven't heard of it? Well so far, there's only one episode and it's exclusive to my Patreon! But it was fun and I'd like to revisit in the future!
VIDEO GAMES:  Reverse 1999 Honkai Star Rail - I am very bad at playing updating video games. It doesn't come naturally to me. I am not someone who completes a lot of games--if I am really gripped by something, I'll finish the story, but I'm not very good about new game plus and 100% runs or anything like that. So, what usually happens with games like this is I get to a point where I am caught up and then I take a break because something else catches my eye or I have less time or I just feel like there's not a lot to do with where I'm at in the game and when I next try to dip in, I feel too far behind. That's definitely where I am with HSR right now, but I'm hoping to take some of my remaining time off to actually try to play and enjoy it again.  The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog Detective Pikachu Returns - This was a Christmas gift and it's delightful! A lot of the puzzle-solving is very easy, but, I dunno, I like hanging out with my friends the Pokemon.
COMICS:  Nancy Chainsaw Man Milky Way by Miguel Vila - Another Christmas gift, this book is beautifully ugly. It is a semi-erotic relationship-thriller that I think does a very good job of balancing the grotesqueness of human nature and interpersonal relations with a sort of soft loving lens of what compels us toward each other, even when it's at our expense. There's deception and injury and fetishization presented in ways that remind you why they're often treated as morally repugnant, but also are so attractive to us so often.  Superman Kaguya-Sama: Love is War 17-21 The Rock Cocks Witch Watch - Every Sunday morning, I read through my "webcomics" of the week. I hit up Webtoon and catch up on anything there, then hop to Shonen Jump and read my new stuff there. Consistently, Witch Watch is probably my favorite read each Sunday morning, just because it almost never misses weeks and the characters are all just so delightful. Even with the current storyline being kinda weird (one of the main characters has been turned from a teen into a toddler and is being kinda raised by her romantic interest...) there's such a solid core of thoughtfulness and care and humor that I think it just always works.  Spy x Famiy  Lore Olympus Girl Taking Over: A Lois Lane Story Birds of Prey Fire & Ice: Welcome to Smallville - I recently talked on my Patreon about how I think playing backseat editor and coming up with "a book that would really get readers to the shop regularly again" isn't practical because I think there are other things that could bolster comic sales in longer-lasting, better ways and I think particularly with the current state of the readership, "comics readers" aren't looking for a unifying title, they're looking for the stuff they find personally compelling. I'm a guy in comics, I have a lot to say on that and how to improve things, but that's for another day. Why I bring it up here is between Birds of Prey and Fire & Ice, those are the books that if there was justice in this world would bring all the boys to the yard. These are the exact kind of superhero titles I wanna read all the time. Poison Ivy: Thorns Superman: The Harvests of Youth Dumbing of Age One Piece Crimehot - Crimehot #4 came out this year and includes the Cassidy and Butch to our main group's Jessie and James (That's a Team Rocket reference), the way more competent counterparts who all have weirdly deep backstories with the main cast. And let me tell you... like the name says, they're hot. And they do hot stuff. It's a good comic.  Steamy Dandadan - I was recently gushing about Dandadan to some friends and described it as really hitting me as a comic that is so very much a book about whatever interests the creator at the moment (similar to Witch Watch in that way). If you read the pitch, it's like "she believes in ghosts and not aliens, and he believes in aliens and not ghosts and then wacky stuff happens to make a believer out of both of them" but it's really a light rom-com with just bonkers stuff happening and I love that about it.  Three Rocks: The story of Ernie Bushmiller, the Man Who Created Nancy  It's Lonely at the Centre of the Earth  What Happens Next - This is a webcomic I discovered not too long ago and there are content warnings on the very first page that I think are very helpful to make sure you're in the right headspace for it. I am a big fan of stories about younger adults finding their place in the world--not a coming of age "taking your first steps into real life" kind of thing, but a "you've been around for a while and life is hard and even if you're doing the right things, or nothing at all, why isn't it better and what comes next" types of stoires. This totally fits that. And it reads incredibly quickly since it's usually 1-2 panels per page.
BOOKS:  Out There Screaming: An Anthology of New Black Horror - I look at my comics list and I look at the things I didn't place on either list and I know I read plenty this year, but it does feel strange having such a short list for traditional books. There's a lot to that: I spent like 6 weeks spending all my free reading time catching up on 1100 chapters of One Piece. I started a handful of books that I was enjoying but for one reason or another paused and didn't really pick back up. And so while this is the most recent release on the list, Out There Screaming was a major help for me because it was something I could pick up and read in short bursts and leave satisfied and wanting to come back for more. Every story--even the ones that I didn't like as much, was compelling and fun and left me thinking about it afterwards.  House of Leaves  Raw Dog: The Naked Truth About Hot Dogs - Book of the year. I don't even eat hot dogs, but I loved this book!  I'm Glad My Mom Died  The Broken Room
TV SHOWS:  Poker Face Craig of the Creek  Rise of the TMNT  Transformers: Earthspark  I Think You Should Leave - Out of everything we've consumed this year, I think ITYSL is the most quoted show in our household (though Real Housewives of Beverly Hills/Vanderpump Rules are close contenders). So much of this show is so funny and strange.  The Rehersal Barry  My Adventures with Superman Praise Petey - Without a doubt, Praise Petey is the least known show on this list. And because of that, as I just found out, it was canceled after a single season which sucks. The premise is after her cult leader dad dies, a down-on-her-luck New Yorker moves to the countryside and becomes a cult leader... whether she wants to or not and her own feelings on that differ minute-by-minute. Despite the broad premise, it's pretty in line with other animated sitcoms like Bob's Burgers or King of the Hill (it is a Mike Judge co-production) that I think speaks in an authentic, funny voice of the 18-35 demographic. If you like Only Murders in the Building, I think this has a similar energy, but hornier and with more of the concerns of youth than of old men.  Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake Sex Education - Okay, I know I said I wasn't doing rankings, but as an overall piece of media, I think Sex Education is my show of the year. The last season, the one that came out this year, isn't my favorite of the series, but when so many shows flub their endings, this one really found a way to nail it (and to roll with the more major cast/location changes) in a way that felt real. This is one of those shows that, if it was available on DVD, I would buy to add to my "regular rotation", but much like Freaks and Geeks, I'd only ever be able to watch some of it again because as it got closer to the end, I don't know that I'd be able to emotionally take that on a regular basis.  Joe Pera Talks with You Scott Pilgrim Takes Off
MOVIES:  The Boy and the Heron The Fablemans - I have very complicated feelings about this movie. On the one hand, I really loved it on first viewing. It hit me emotionally in a major way. I've talked on the blog before about crying multiple times in the theater. And if you had asked me in the first half of the year what my favorite movie of the year was, it'd probably be this (even though it's technically a 2022 film). But I also have my issues with Steven Spielberg and... it is a film where I'm still navigating my own emotional catharsis with it relative to Spielberg as an artist/creator/subject of the film. Not to get too far into real issues of death of the author and separation of the art and artist, this is the sort of hyper-personal work that even moreso than usual I think cannot be separated from the creator and so my changing feelings on him means I'm still figuring out my new relationship with the work.  M3GAN Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem - Up until recently, this probably would've moved into the movie of the year spot. I just thought it was so much fun. It's a visual feast. I like that it's a full story (Sorry, Spider-Verse). I love the world and the enthusiasm of the turtles and just really tuned in.  Robocop Phantom of the Paradise - Becca watched this for the first time with me and we both marveled on how this kind of forgotten cult film actually informed so much of all pop culture for decades to come. I am happy to say that overall, still slaps.  Venture Bros: Radiant is the Blood of the Baboon Heart Blue Beetle Gone Girl - I ended up watching a lot of Fincher movies this year, largely influenced by Blank Check. And Gone Girl has to be my favorite of his, and, on this rewatch, one of my favorite films of the 2010s.  Oldboy Josee, the Tiger and the Fish Godzilla: Minus One - Again, not to rank things so much, but if Minus One did an Oscars sweep and took home (checks notes) every award, I'd be happy. Even the ones that don't make sense. Best Documentary Short? Give it to Godzilla, cowards! An absolute masterpiece on every level.
MUSIC:  The Loveliest Time - Look, we got a new CRJ album. What else do you want from me?
OTHER STUFF:  A smooth transition from IDW into the holidays (and into my new thing soon) Making a Discord for my friends and the feeling that I can spend a little time making my friendships stronger with some folks while we aren't also coworkers/collaborators. Bluesky (and not being on Twitter). Remaining boosted on my vaccines and not having any serious illness of my own. Becca's first year on Twitch.  My first year on Patreon.  WaifuExpo (now KimochiiCon) and generally being more open in my interest in consuming and creating adult material.  Having some good experiences at shows and doing so many (will not be doing so many in 2024).  Having good times with the people I love.  All the comics I edited, all the blogs I posted, and just being at an end to that for the year.
Not to be a bummer at the end, but it has been a long, strange, difficult year. There is so much wrong in the world and so many are struggling. So, it's nice that there is also so much that I found enjoyment and comfort in. I hope you've had some real bright spots in this year too, and I look forward to next year with you.
I am not much for resolutions. I usually don't do a good job of them, if I bother to make them at all. But I do have some things I'll briefly say I'm excited for in the coming year.
I am excited to get married and to figure out what celebrations we can do around that.  I am excited to start this new job and tell you all about it when I can.  I am excited to make more comics. Besides my little self-drawn things that you can find on this blog, I didn't release any comics this year and I am very much looking forward to that not being the case in 2024.  I am excited to grow my friendships.  I am excited to continue this blog.
Thanks for reading. Happy new year!

Some people say that the moment is gone
And then they tell you that its time to move on
But don't you listen to a word that they say
From the moment you saw Jordan Kent shoot lasers from his eyes, you knew he was extra special. This was the boy who played with you when no one else did. He would listen to you endlessly over the phone when you rambled about a new topic that crossed you path. Even with you in Smallville and Jordan in Metropolis, you two were beside each other through and through.
You always felt that Jordan was special. From his curly dark hair to his rosy red cheeks, Jordan Kent was one of a kind in your eyes. So when you saw him cause an explosion you did one thing.
Investigate.
Cause we got magic that just won't go away
And we may be a hundred worlds apart but that won't keep me from your heart
You used your mother’s heritage to find out Clark Kent was Superman. Your mother was a witch, making you one. At your age you could read people’s auras, understand their emotions from a touch and if you concentrated hard enough see past memories. Basic witchcraft.
However you didn’t need to use your powerful magic when you saw Clark Kent leave the Cushing barbecue early, only for Superman to be on the news minutes later.
You could also read his aura, the reading unfamiliar to others whom were human but semi familiar to the Kent boy who had caught your eye. You noticed however the overwhelming pride towards Jordan and Jonathan which made you smile.
You can't fight the rain when its already falling
You can't hide the truth from yourself when you're all in
No one can erase this, I'll always be drawing you closer and closer
Whatever I do, its always you
Ohh, its always you
“(Y/N)!”
You turned to see the bright eyed boy you had been worrying over fort he past few day. He gave a quick jog towards you before pulling you into a hug. “Jord! I missed you” You smiled, wrapping your arms tightly around Jordan, inhaling his intoxicating scent. He was taller than you, which sucked on the outside but on the inside filled your romantic fantasies. You blame that on Percy Jackson.
When Jordan joined the football, You supported Jordan entirely seeing him be happy was you life mission. His goofy smile made your heart skip a beat or two and your stomach flutter like a thousand butterflies waking.
“I’m proud of you, Jordan” You smiled after practice finished, walking home with Jordan.
He gave you that smile and the heat rushed to your cheeks. “You don’t know how much I need to hear that from you” He replied, hitting th pebbles by his feet.
“See you tomorrow Jord” You smiled as you both got closer to your mother’s home. Jordan gave you one last hug before saying goodbye. His touch lingered as he had whispered his goodbye in your ear.
Some people run from what they don't understand
But we're just keeping up the best that we can
I know you need to go, I wish you could stay
You only went to that stupid party because Jordan asked you. But when you accidentally read Tag Harris’ aura, you nearly fainted onto Jonathan Kent. It was dangerous, unstable and harmful. You could see the yellow energy climb up your veins, unintentionally linking you to the injured teen for a short amount of time. You followed Jonathan and Jordan who went after Tag, your senses confused and disoriented from the darkness inside of the teen
You played off that it was the alcohol but Jordan clearly didn’t buy it. He knew you better than anyone and you never drank a day in your life, a custom that was heavily surround by your small but powerful coven. But when Tag went to attack Jordan, you rushed in front of him creating a barrier of magic around you two, pushing Tag back.
No one in your coven was that powerful alone, causing you to collapse into Jordan Kent’s arms as Superman came to the rescue. Unaware in your delirious state you mumbled a spell in front of the twins unlinking you from Tag.
Because we got magic that just won't go away
And we may be a hundred worlds apart but that won't keep me from your heart
You can't fight the rain when its already falling
You can't hide the truth from yourself when you're all in
No one can erase this, I'll always be drawing you closer and closer
Whatever I do, its always you
Ohh, its always you
You woke up in the Kent household, Lois Lane tending to the cut on your left leg. You were confused at first, wondering how you got there and then like a shelf full of heavy books toppling over it hit you.
You used magic right in front of outsiders.
You panicked, your body shaking uncontrollably as you cried in front of Lois. Even though she didn’t understand why, the mother pulled you into a hug, calming you down ever so slightly. “Shhh, it’s okay your safe” Lois reassured you, believing you were shaken up by the night previous. “No, I’m not” You sobbed, knowing what was to happen when you got to your mother’s home.
Clark and Jordan both escorted you home in Clark’s trusty truck. You didn’t talk or utter a single word since your statement to Lois, your mind going over every negative outcome possible. Jordan held your hand in his the entire way, giving you some comfort. “Thanks for the ride home, Clark” You muttered, leaving the truck not saying goodbye to your only friend.
Your mother noticed you and without hesitation she yanked your arm and dragged you into her home. The coven’s leader stood tall as the other witches sat behind you. You felt like a criminal in the court like room. But you were, you used magic in front of outsiders and the price of your actions was high.
“You, (Y/N) (L/N) are here by banished from the Coven Kyra. You will remain a witch with no coven or ties to our most prized knowledge from now till your ruin. Your powers will be uncontrollable unless you are provided a grounding crystal in which you will be given to keep our coven secret.
You are not to contact anyone in this coven. If you seek another coven’s help they will see your crimes through your aura. You are not to return to this coven nor shall you ever come back to our sacred grounds. If you breach these rules you shall be burned by hellfire”
And just like that you were alone. No family. No home. No protection against the hunters who wished to kill you.
Jordan noticed you hadn’t returned to school. He tried to text or call you but your phone had died hours after you banishment. He begged his father to help him find you, thankfully Clark was also worried and agreed to help you.
You sat outside of town, under a broken down, useless bus stop that had been taken off the route years ago. The rain pattered above you and one you as you tried to sleep. Usually, the rain would help you sleep better but now it became a constant reminder of the life you lost protecting Jordan Kent.
But you never regretted your actions.
“(Y/N)?”
You opened your eyes to see the curly haired, rosy cheek and now frowning boy look down on you. He didn’t look sympathetic or shocked by your current state. Your hair was dirty, greasy and covered in soot. Your clothes were already worn from the seasonal change into winter.
“Jordan, I ca-”
He stopped you from answering, pulling you close to him despite you being soaked to the bone and dirty from not having a shower in weeks. He cried onto your hair, mumbling about how worried he was about you and all his fears of what might have happened to you. You buried you head into his chest, crying with him unable to speak.
Jordan held you head in his head, his tears blueish-green orbs staring back at your own (E/C) filled with tears. He didn’t say anything, only looking at your scrawny and sick-like features. He noticed your nose turning red and your puffy eyes previous from your crying. “Let’s get you back home” He whispered, pulling you close once again.
It's always you
It's always you
It’s always you
You told Clark and Lois about your banishment, about your coven’s code and terms with your punishment. They listened, not asking questions or butting in when they disagreed with anything you said about the coven.
“My sisters used magic to erase me from any photo in their home. My mother burned all of my belongings with hellfire. I am completely erased from their family and the coven. I was lucky enough to be given a grounding crystal for my magic” You sobbed, holding the cup of tea Lois made you harder.
Lois only hugged you as you started to sob, she know understood why you broke down after you woke up and it broke her heart. “When did this start?” Clark asked softly, knowing that this subject would be very sensitive. “When you dropped me to the coven’s home. I am lucky to be alive, using magic in front of an outsider is punishable by death, being burned by hellfire in front of the entire coven” You choked, wiping your tears with the back of your hand.
You didn’t want to ruin the fresh pyjamas provided by Lois after she insisted you take a hot shower and wore fresh clean clothes. Lois and Clark looked at each other, not even you could understand what the meant. “Clark and I need to talk, why don’t you go up to the boys. You don’t have to tell them what happened if you don’t want too” Lois told you, pushing your hair back behind your ears.
You nodded quietly.
“We will respect whatever decision you make, even if you twist the truth” Clark added. He understood what it was like to keep a secret so big, he had first hand of experience with it blowing up in your face and he knew that what’re you chose it was in the best interest for Jordan.
You knocked on Jordan’s door, your hands trembling as you waited for him to open the door. What was only moments felt like hours to you before the caution taped door opened up widely. Jordan looked at you, the worry in his eyes causing you to shrink in your form.
Jonathan sat up from his brother’s bed, thankful that his twin stopped pacing. He excused himself from the room, giving you a comforting squeeze on the shoulder.
Jordan moved to the side, motioning for you to come in. You slowly walked past him, waiting for him to change his mind. “How are you feeling?” Jordan asked you, looking down at his feet. “Better” You answered, playing with your fingers.
“I was so worried about you” Jordan sighed, sitting on his bed. You stayed by the door, hooked onto his every word, waiting for more. “When you stopped answering my texts and calls, not showing up to school. Hell even you sisters wouldn’t tell me” Jordan muttered that last part hoping you didn’t hear him. But you did and winced at the mention of your sisters.
“I’m sorry” You answered, not knowing what to say. Jordan ran his hair through his dark curls, his mind racing at the thought you might have been dead or abandoned in a ditch somewhere. He patted the empty space next to him, looking at you his eyes pleasing to have you near him.
You obliged, the creak of the springs echoed the silent room as you sat next to Jordan. “I’m a witch. When I stopped Tag from hurting you, my coven didn’t like that I used magic and kicked me out. Erasing me from ever existing at all to them” You told Jordan, leaving out the darker parts of your punishment.
Jordan took your hand in his, his thumb caressing over your scabbing knuckles. “This is all my fault” Jordan blamed, his voice cracking. You pulled his hand with yours, his head turning to you. “No, its not. I used my magic because I wanted to protect you. I did that not you. And I would do it all over again if it meant you were safe. It’s you, Jordan” You told him, your free hand now laying on his wet cheek wiping his tears.
“It’s always you”
Jordan gave a small smile before leaning in, his lips ghosting over yours. You closed the gap, his hands now moved to your cheeks as did yours. This kiss was soft and gentle. His lips tasted like peaches and were slightly salty from his tears. To Jordan, yours tasted like the chamomile tea you had and for an odd reasons lemongrass.
Once you pulled apart, you both leaned your head against each other’s. You both didn’t need words to describe what you both felt in that moment. Silently, you both knew the feeling you both kept bottled up were mutual.
Jordan pulled you in for another hug, resting his head upon yours. You snuggled into his warm chest, his black hoodie smelling like grass and mint. You closed your eyes and before you knew it, you had fallen asleep.
Bonus:
Jonathan snapped a quick picture of you and Jordan snuggled up under his duvet. You were hugging Jordan as your head lay against his chest. The half-alien’s calm heartbeat soothing your slumber. Jordan had both arms lazily wrapped around your waist, his chin resting on your head as he laid on his back.
Jonathan was happy for his brother, and even more so now that he didn’t have to hear him gush about the crush he developed on you.
Lois and Clark both noticed the three teenagers were not downstairs and went o investigate. They stopped at Jordan’s room, seeing their other son tip toe out of there.
“Where is your brother and (Y/N)-“ Lois was shushed by her son, who pointed at the room he left. “Trust me. It’s worth it” He whispered, moving to allow his parents a view.
Lois and Clark melted at the sight of you and Jordan. They had been rooting for you two since day one and honestly were happy you both came to your senses. Sure they wished it happened under better circumstances but overjoyed nonetheless. They didn’t even care that you both shared a bed, knowing they could trust you.
“Now we just need to know who acted on their feelings first? I want my ten dollars”

Bruce Wayne/Batman X Reader

Y/N Kent, twin sister of Superman. She is in love with a man whom she once thought she hated. They respected each other, then they began a friendship and now she's beginning to fall for him. Dick aka Robin, totally sees their love for each other and thinks they would be perfect for each other, so does Clark.
Tumblr media
I step into the lounge of the watchtower. I walked in and saw a little boy in a uniform, with a mask. He saw me and gasped holding Bruce's leg. So cute!
"it's alright Robin. I thought you wanted to meet, H/N?" he said
I halfway smiled and knelt down
"hi" I said to the shy boy
I held my hand out he shook it
"I'm D-Robin" he said
He let go of my hand and Bruce. He gently smiled as did I
"hi, Robin I've heard a lot about you. I'm, H/N"
He smiled confidently "I have so many questions. Like, can you see my bones right now? Can you fly? Well I already know that, can you read minds? Or hear my hear my heart beat? Oh, can you tell the difference between mine, Superman's and Batman's heart beat?"
"Robin" Bruce said stern
"sorry" he says uncomfortable
I wink at him "it's OK, Robin and yes to all your questions"
"cool!"
I chuckled and stood I see, my brother softly smiling to me. I am never going to hear the end of this. One year later, at my old home in Smallville. In my civilian clothes and wearing my glasses. Visiting with my Ma. I held a cup of tea as did Ma wall we sat on the porch swing.
She touches my wrist "so tell me about your new boyfriend?"
"what boyfriend? You know I'm too busy for any of that nonsense"
"so you're brother was fibbing to your Ma" she questioned with a knowing look
Dammit, I feel my cheeks slightly heat up thinking about Bruce. Ma, began to laugh. I chuckled shaking my head. Ma, squeezed my wrist.
"all a mother wants is her children's happiness.." she touches my cheek "perhaps some grandchildren to"
"Ma!" I exclaimed
She chuckled softly. I hear my brother's Heartbeat! I saw, Clark.
Mom slightly scoffed "oh, there's your brother we were planning to surprise you"
What is he doing here? I haven't seen him in such a long time. He had been off planet for 6 months.
"Clark" I gasped I super-speed hugging his neck
"Y/N" he said
He hugged me I hugged him tight. We parted. He touched my cheek and sighed
"I missed you" he said
"I missed you too"
I softly smile to my older brother.
"I haven't seen you in a while. Let's go talk and catch up" he suggested
"sure" I nodded
We walked through the meadow just like when we were kid's. We stopped by the lake skipping rocks all the way to the other side of the bank.
"I was gone for too long I missed my baby sister" he mumbled
"missed you too"
He skipped a rock across the lake "so tell me about what happened?"
"what are you talking about?" I intrigued
"Bruce, you can't tell me that you haven't seen him today"
"how did you?.. " I was with Bruce helping him on a league mission a few hours ago
"Y/N, I'm not stupid everytime you've been around him your heart is literally racing for hours. Not to mention you're in a lot better mood"
"my heart doesn't race in fact it's very steady" I appalled
I look at him seeing his smirk
I scoff rolling my eyes "oh, whatever what about when you are around, Lois"
He laughed "that's exactly my point" I elbow his gut "ouch! I'll tell Ma!" he said laughing
"I'm so scared" I mocked "which speaking of Ma I don't appreciate you telling her my feelings for Bruce"
"so you do have feelings for him"
I grunted "I'm going to heat blast your ass" he chuckled, putting his arm across me to my shoulder and rubbed my arm leaning me to him. I huffed readjusting my glasses
"I hate you always see through me" I sighed
"I know" he says kissing my head
Later that evening a fundraiser for Wayne enterprise that, Clark and Lois convinced me go to. I made it standing outside wearing my f/c dress. People standing outside. This made me feel even more uncomfortable. I just want to see Bruce and Dick
"hey, Y/N!" I hear Grayson say
I look seeing him he made a funny face. I chuckled sticking my tongue out to the side of my mouth. I saw Bruce! I instantly stopped putting my tongue back in my mouth. I brushed my hair back looking like a fool. Dick, started laughing. I'm going to wash his mouth out with soap!
"H-hi Bruce I uh it's good to see you" I feel my cheeks redding, dammit.
I'm such a stuttering idiot
"hello, Y/N" he says bluntly as always
"Mr Wayne!" I hear a reporter yell
Can I please die right now? That was so humiliating. Bruce, walked off to the sound of a man calling him. Dick walked to me and laughed. I touch his chin and squint my eyes at him
"you just had to go and make me embarrass myself in front of Bruce"
I lower my hand he just grinned
"you know he really loves you" he said with a chuckle
"would you like to spend the evening talking about something enjoyable and not my affection for Bruce"
"so you do love him!"
"alright moving on let's go find something to eat"
Dick held my hand and pulled me inside. I saw the decorations and food on table's. Dick, pulls me to the tower of cupcakes. We both enjoy the cupcakes
"Y/N, do you have any kid's?" Dick asked
I ignored the question and saw he had icing on his lips. I smiled and used a napkin to wipe his face
"well?" he asked
"well what?" I asked chuckling
I wiped all the icing off his face he laughed. I threw the napkin in the trash bin
"do you have any kid's?" he asked again
"no I don't have any kid's what makes you think I have kids" I asked laughing
"nothing you're just very motherly"
"well thank you for the compliment, Dick. I do love kid's" I said
"and Bruce" he added smirking
I sighed "I'm going to have to wash your mouth out with soap you little squirt!" I say
He laughed. As it started getting late Dick and I sat at the chairs by the table playing I spy. Bruce discussing God knows what with other people that were interested
"I spy something" Dick yawned "pink" he said tired
"the cupcake wrapper and you already picked that... I spy someone tired" I said
I looked at my clock on my phone and huffed this thing won't be done for a while. Bruce would probably not like Dick sleeping in here
"hey Dick you want to go for a walk" I asked
His half-open blue eye's look at me. He gently nodded he got up and rubbed his eye's. We went outside I carried him on my back. As I walked he fell asleep. I waited for Bruce wall I stood outside. Finally it was over people started leaving
"Dick!" Bruce yelled
I walked up to him, Bruce saw him he sighed
"thank you for watching him, Y/N"
"my pleasure. I'll help you put him in the car" I said
Bruce didn't respond, I followed him to the car. Bruce took the sleeping boy from my arm's and laid Dick inside and shut the car door
"I guess I'll see you tomorrow" I said softly wishing my heart would steady
He touched my chin and kissed my cheek as I instantly blush bright red. He got in his car and left. I flew high into the sky screaming in joy

Meeting His Parents | J.K
My Masterlist | Request Guidelines | Send a Request
Pairing: Jonathan Kent x fem!teen!reader
Request: “Hey! I had a request if you don’t mind doing! Can you do from Superman & Lois, Jonathan Kent x female reader where your dating him and Clark and Lois find out and want to meet her. Obviously, reader knows Jonathan is part Kryptonian and is cool with it, but is very, very scared of meeting Superman. So basically reader meets Jonathan’s parents over dinner, that they invited her over and in the end, she gets their approval and it’s a happy ending!”| Requested by Anonymous
A/N: I got this request months ago and I’m sooo behind. I’m so sorry you guys, I’m the slowest. The title is really basic because I don’t even know anymore and didn’t really know what to do with this request do here’s my attempt at writing fluff. Along with fluff, I can’t write endings so they all end up like an early-2000s movie. This is my 30th fic!!!
Summary: After weeks of asking, Jon was finally able to convince you to meet his parents.
Warnings: None that I know of.
Word Count: ~2.2k

Once the final bell rang and students were released from their classes, you heard Jon call your name so you slowed your pace to allow him to catch up with you. As he approached you, you bit your lip to fight back your nerves at the question he was bound to ask you.
“Hey,” he greeted, taking your hand into yours to briefly intertwine them together and gently squeeze your hand before letting go.
Your heart still fluttered when he did that. Sure, you two had been dating for a month now, but you still couldn’t get over the amazingness of your boyfriend.
He had started interlocking your fingers together in jealousy when he caught Timmy, your ex-boyfriend and also Jon’s football teammate/ex-bully, staring at you both in annoyance whenever you both walked the halls.
However after realizing his motive for holding your hand and consequently reassuring him that your feelings for Timmy had disappeared, Jon had started doing small squeezes as a greeting.
You smiled at him, “Hey, what’s up?”
Jon’s nerves seemed to match yours as he sucked in a breath before putting his hands in his pockets. “I uh, actually wanted to talk about that thing I brought up earlier. You know... about my parents.”
You bit the inside of your cheek as you slowly nodded when you both came to a stop outside of Smallville High School.
“Yeah, well… how about tonight?” Jon proposed.
You fidgeted with the straps on your backpack as you began to sputter out an excuse, “Jon-”
Knowing your intentions, he interrupted you to plead his case, “I know this is a big deal. I mean, I’m asking you to meet my parents. But I’ve met yours, and they were great! How different could it possibly be?”
“Well I don’t know, Jon?” you sarcastically shrugged while gesturing with your hands before leaning closer to him and ‘loudly’ whispering, “My parents aren’t the best reporter in the world and freaking Superman!”
“It’s not even like that,” Jon began.
You continued, “Yeah, you’re right, Lois Lane isn’t the only best reporter in the world, that title is tied with her and Kara Danvers! Who is your aunt, or cousin, whatever!”
Becoming defensive, Jon stepped back and crossed his arms, “She’s my first cousin once removed, and are you actually afraid of my family?”
Your stance weakened at his question and you shook your head from side to side. Sitting down on a nearby bench, you rested your head on your hands.
“No, no Jon, of course not. But- I… I’m not particularly impressive, and you’ve told me about Eliza and how much your parents and Jordan loved her…” you admitted, trailing off.
Uncrossing his arms, Jon frowned at your implied self-deprecation before sitting next to you, “Hey, that’s not true at all. Sure, I was with Eliza for a while and my family got used to it, but you’re way better than her and they’ll love you equally, if not more.”
You gave him an unconvinced look, before he continued chuckling, “Well, first of all, you didn’t ditch me at Harvest Fest.”
Playfully rolling your eyes, you bumped his shoulder against your own, “Well I didn’t really have a choice. If it weren’t for me then you would have been left to drunkenly wobble home and would have ended up in the lake.”
Jon gave you a sarcastic laugh which made you genuinely laugh. Resting your head on his shoulder, you sighed, “Okay, you’ve convinced me, I’ll see you this evening?”
He gave a wide grin before confirming, “Yep, my house at six.”
You gave him a final nod before quickly kissing his cheek and standing up. “I’ll see you then.”
And with that, you turned to go home and get ready. Granted, your nerves weren’t completely gone, but you were confident that as long as Jon was there, you could manage them.
▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣
Knocking on the wooden door, you played with the hem of your dress while balancing a pie in your hand. Luckily for you, baking helped ease your nerves and it provided a tasty gift.
A moment later, the door was opened and you were met by Jordan’s jet-black curls.
“Hey,” he waved, “I’m glad you could make it.”
Peeking out from behind him, Sarah appeared, already focused on dessert, “Ohhh, please tell me that’s your grandma’s old recipe?”
You grinned while nodding, “The one and only. With cinnamon crust, of course.”
Stepping aside, Jordan ushered you inside, mirroring Sarah’s interest in your pie. Smoothing out your dress before turning into the corner where Lois and Clark’s voices could be heard, you nervously swallowed before walking forward.
Seeing you step inside, Lois and Clark paused their conversation with a very handsome looking Jonothan to address you, and Lois was quick to smother you in adoration as she called your name.
“Ohhh, you look beautiful,” she smiled, walking over to you. “I’m so happy that you could make it, Jonathan talks about you all the time and I’ve just been dying to meet you.”
You shyly glanced at Jon who was glaring at his mom for exposing him before returning Lois’ enthusiasm, “Thank you so much for inviting me. I’ve heard so much about you both and it’s an honor to finally meet you Mrs. Lane.”
Joining his wife, Clark came over to you both, “I’m glad that we get to officially meet, Jon says that you’re a loyal Crows fan.”
You nodded, “Yes, I’ve been to every game since elementary school. You’re a great assistant coach, Mr. Kent, it’s a wonder that Coach Gaines had been able to manage the team for that long without you.”
“Well I’m flattered and glad you think so,” Clark chuckled before looking at his sons, “There are some people in this household who don’t share your ideals.”
At his words, Sarah gave a muffled laugh as the twins exchanged alarmed looks. You smiled at the family atmosphere that had engulfed the room. Catching Jon’s eye, you gave him a warm smile, pleased at how dinner was turning out.
Leading you towards the dinner table Lois commented, “I hope you like baked chicken, because I am admittedly not the best cook.”
“Which is why I cooked it,” Clark added, affectionately kissing Lois on the check.
You quietly chuckled before taking your seat at the six-person table next to Jon with Sarah and Jordan facing you and Lois and Clark at both ends of the table.
After being served, the table was immersed with comfortable small talk when the topic of baseball was brought up.
“Mr. Kent, Jon’s mentioned that you like baseball,” you remarked.
“I love it, I used to play as a kid.”
Sarah cut in, “Was it only as a kid? I feel like I’ve seen you play on TV somewhere.”
“He wishes,” Jordan laughed.
Clark put his hand over his heart, feigning offense, “Hey, I could have totally gone pro.”
“I’m sure you could have honey,” Lois playfully comforted. “And I could have joined the military with Lucy.”
Everyone at the table laughed excluding Clark who simply showed mock offense.
“No, no, dad. You’re right, you do have a super throw,” Jon joked.
“You pitched?” Sarah asked, not knowing the hidden meaning behind your boyfriend’s words.
Covering up for his son’s hint, Clark quickly nodded, “Yeah, forever ago. Now I just help Jon and Jordan with football.”
Nodding, Lois steered the conversation towards you, much to your discomfort.
“Are you in any clubs? Sarah mentioned you did cheer,” Lois asked.
You nodded, “Yeah, although sometimes it’s unfortunate that I have to face the crowd instead of the action during games. But I’m also in the newspaper club, it’s not as amazing as what you do, but we just cover small events and stuff around town.”
Lois enthusiastically grinned, “Well I’d be happy to have some help over at the Gazette if you’d ever like to stop by.”
“I’d love that!” you agreed.
Underneath the table, Jon’s hand found its way to yours and gave you a small squeeze as you engaged in small talk with his family. He occasionally made a comment but otherwise left his family to get to know you.
Throughout the dinner, Jon’s eyes almost never left your face as you animatedly talked and listened to everyone. He could only gaze at you in admiration as you effortlessly charmed his parents, as he knew you would.
As the evening came to an end and the pie you brought was devoured, Lois and Clark led you to the door as you said your goodbyes.
Shaking your hand, Clark spoke, “It was great to have you over, we’re so glad that we could finally meet you after hearing all about you from Jon.”
Inwardly smiling and sneaking a glance at your boyfriend, who was shuffling his feet on the ground in embarrassment, you returned the handshake, “Thank you again for having me, Jon is wonderful and it’s no doubt because of you both.”
Lois lightly laughed at your praise and added, “Well I can’t help but notice his sudden willingness to clean his room coincidentally before he video calls you so I’m sure I have you to thank you for that.”
You giggled at her remark and Jon cut into the conversation before any more humiliating details about him could be shared, “Okay then, I’m glad you’re both happy with my continued shaming. Mom, Dad, I think she has to go now, it’s getting kind of late.”
Jon’s parents chuckled at him before taking the hint.
“Okay, okay, we get it. But just know that you are always welcome and we’d be happy to have you here again,” Clark invited as Lois nodded in agreement.
“Thank you, I’d be happy to come. Goodnight!” you waved politely as the parents said farewell before being ushered back into the house by their son.
Jon sighed before putting his hands in his pocket, “Wow… that really just happened.”
“Yep, it’s official now. You’re stuck with me,” you joked.
“I think it’s the other way around.”
I don’t think so... but we’ll agree to disagree.”
Pulling you into a hug, Jon didn’t linger in your embrace, knowing his parents were watching. And he was correct as you peeked behind him and sure enough, Lois was hovering behind the curtain.
You grinned at her failed attempt at hiding, but understood her concern. Although you didn’t exactly know what she wanted to prevent from happening at 9 p.m. on a front porch.
“Is she still there?” he whispered.
After waiting a moment for her to leave, you shook your head once her shadow disappeared, “Yeah, but what about your dad’s super-vision?”
“I’ll take my chances.”
Leaning in, Jon pressed his lips against yours in an innocent kiss that still made your heart feel as if it exploded. Pulling away, you bashfully grinned as he rocked on his heels.
“Thank you,” he smiled before frantically clarifying, “Not for the kiss-I mean yes… I enjoyed kissing you, but thank you for coming to dinner.”
You giggled at his uncharacteristic awkwardness, “I’m glad that I did. I was really freaking out over nothing. Your parents are great.”
“Yeah, they are.”
Quickly hugging him again, your parent’s car pulled up in Kent's driveway and you took it as your sign to leave.
“Well, that’s my ride. I’ll call you?” you asked, backing away.
Jon nodded, “I’ll be waiting.”
With a final smile sent his way, you turned away from the Kent residence to leave the property. But you knew that wouldn’t be for the final time.
Like anyone would be, you and him were nervous about introducing you to his crazy family. And he was even a little worried that in the midst of all the super, you would find him a little… ordinary.
However, as if you were able to sense his fears, you never failed to reassure him that to you, Jonathan Kent was everything but ordinary.
At the beginning of that day, you didn’t want to even imagine trying to successfully meet Jon’s parents. But by the end, you couldn’t wait to see them and him again. And that was truly super.

clark kent / superman & borrower!reader ( 3rd person pov ).
 2848 words
mild language warning
i wanted to keep going with this, but i got tired of looking at it lol
please keep comments to the tags!! thank you!!
There’s a scream. Clark jolts up in his seat, knee banging against the underside of his desk hard. He mutters a few almost-curses under his breath, picking up the ( thankfully already empty ) mug he’d knocked over and collecting anything else he’d disturbed. Had he imagined that scream? It sounded so real, so–––
“ You alright over there, Smallville? ”  He glances up to see a familiar face peering over into his cubicle, her features twisted in mild confusion. Apparently his little jolt disturbed more than just his desk items . . ..
“ Uh. Yeah. Yeah, sorry, Lois, I––– ”  Clark pushes his glasses further up onto his face and stands, dusting himself off.  “ Y’know when you’re, uh, about to fall asleep and you suddenly feel like you’re falling? Apparently I’m more tired than I thought, so––– ”
“ No no no no–––! ”  There’s the voice again––the same voice that just screamed. It sounds . . . distressed. Clark hones in on it a moment, forgetting that he was in the middle of a sentence until Lois pulls him back.
“ Hell–ooo, Clark? ”  Now her confusion isn’t so mild. Clark’s attention snaps back to Lois, his eyes wide.
“ Hunh? Sorry. I think I just––I think I need some more coffee. I’m fine. Sorry to bother you. ”  Now he knows where the voice is coming from. He can hear it still. It’s strange––bizarre, even. It’s so quiet; logic dictates it would be far away with that kind of volume, but it isn’t. Lois doesn’t seem too satisfied with his explanation, but Clark excuses himself nonetheless. Thankfully, the voice seems to be coming from the break room, which gives his would-be coffee break some merit.
What could it possibly be? As he approaches the break room, Clark focuses his senses, and utilizes his x-ray vision, peering through the walls. Nothing seems too out of the ordinary–––
What the hell? Dangling from an ajar cabinet door, there seems to be a tiny . . . person. There’s no way that’s right. His mind must be playing games, or he’s just seeing things, mistaking them for little people, or––or–––
No, that yelp sounds very real. Clark walks a bit faster, his anxiety rising. The little being obviously needs help. They look like they’re about to fall! He sucks in a breath, forcing himself not to move too quickly, as not to draw attention, all while trying to get to the room to help in time. He damn-near dents the doorknob as he twists it, pushing the door open. Clear as day, nothing but air to block his view, he sees them: a very tiny, yet utterly unmistakable person. And they see him. Now that all his focus is on them, he can hear a little heartbeat within their chest, buzzing away. Never before has he seen anything like this; it actually has him a little taken aback, confused.
Once more, though, Clark is yanked back to reality. The being’s grip––what’s left of it––slips from the wood. Their sharp, terrified yelp hits his ears, and Clark rushes forward, hands outstretched. He closes the space between them in the blink of an eye, catching them after only a couple-inches fall. The weight now in his hands is so small, so light, that he isn’t sure he would notice it were he not looking right at the little being.
“ Are you okay . . .? ”  He keeps his voice low, and his hands steady. What he isn’t prepared, for, though, is the being’s shrill scream of terror once they realize that they’ve been caught. They try to scoot away from him, forcing Clark to close his hands around them, trapping them in the darkness between his palms.
“ Woah––hey! ”  Tiny fists and feet bang against his skin harmlessly. Clark feels bad, but he doesn’t want them to fall again and hurt themselves, so he keeps his hands closed.  “ Please, I’m not going to hurt you. I just––– ”
There are footsteps approaching. Clark glances over his shoulder, unsure of what to do. It’s Lois. Notoriously tenacious Lois Lane is headed his way––their way.
“ Someone’s coming, ”  he whispers, looking around for somewhere to put the little being. Eyes settle on his breast pocket. They’re small enough to fit in there unnoticed, provided they don’t squirm so much.  “ I need you to stay still and trust me. ”  He curls the fingers of his lower hand around them, much to their protest, and lifts them up to his pocket. They don’t make things easy for him, but he manages to stuff them in just as the doorknob turns.
“ Clark? ”  Her inquisitive tone makes the man freeze. The little one seems to freeze too, going dead still in his pocket ( save for their shaking ). Their poor heart is just zooming. After a tense moment, Clark turns around, forcing a sheepish smile.
“ Lois! Hi. Hey, uh––– ”  oh boy, he needs an excuse ASAP. He glances around discretely, looking for something, anything.  “ Coffee tasted funny. I was going to make a new pot. ”
Bad excuse.
One dark brow raises on Lois’ face.  “ You’re a terrible liar, Clark. ”
She’s right. He is. The little being tenses further in his pocket as he searches desperately for a way out.
“ I . . .––I’m sorry, Lois. ”  He bows his head a little, unhappy that he even has to lie about what’s really going on ( though it’s not the only thing he’s keeping from her ).  “ I’m just . . . I’m not feeling well. I think I’m gonna head home, finish my work there. ”
It’s better, but still not great. Lois stares at him for a moment longer, leaving Clark to believe that she’s going to call bullshit again, but she doesn’t. ( Thank God. ) She sighs, clearly unhappy, clearly not done with whatever this is.
“ Go on. I’ll talk to you later, Smallville. ”  She steps aside, arms crossed over her chest.
“ Er––yeah. Right. Of course. ”  Swallowing his guilt, he puts on a slightly brighter smile, truly appreciative of Lois’ cooperation. He hurries past her, and calls back over his shoulder,  “ I’ll have the article ready tonight! ”
Perry wasn’t too pleased with Clark’s sudden speeding out, but it’s not exactly anything new. Clark has always had a habit of disappearing unexpectedly. But now that he’s out of the building, onto the Metropolis sidewalks, Clark finds himself at a loss for what to do. The little one still hides within his breast pocket, their shaking stopped for now, but their body still very tense. He already feels bad enough for scaring them; kidnapping them doesn’t seem like it would smooth things out.
Pace brisk, Clark walks along the sidewalk, taking careful measures to keep his gait as smooth as possible for his passenger. He ducks into a nearby alleyway, out of sight of anyone that might be passing by.
“ Would you like to come out now? ”
Their tiny body curls in now that his attention is back on them. Clark sighs softly. He’s prepared to wait, let them move at their own pace. He can only imagine what they’re feeling right now.
Luckily, though, they don’t make him wait long. They shift and squirm in his pocket, eventually pulling themselves up, their head and tiny, tiny hands poking out over the fabric rim. Clark listens to their heart rate spike when they look down at what, to them, amounts to a very high fall, and then back up to his comparatively massive face. It’s a very stark reminder that they are, in fact, on Clark’s person. He smiles, hoping to ease some of their fear, but the success is questionable.
“ Sorry, I . . . don’t mean to scare you. Didn’t mean to, er, take you, either, but you didn’t seem like you really wanted to be seen . . .. ”  How does one apologize for kidnapping? Clark glances away, awkward.  “ Anyways, uh, hi, I’m Clark. Do you have a name? ”
They stare up at him, silent.
“ . . . okay. Well, I can take you somewhere, if you’d like . . .. Anywhere, really. ”
Once more, they look down at the ground far below. Clark brings his hand up to the pocket, offering to let them out, but they duck back down with a startled yelp. He feels a guilty pang in his heart.
“ Hey, I promise I’m not going to hurt you. ”  But his hand falls away nonetheless, and they pop back up again, slowly but surely.
“ You . . . hid me from the other bean . . . ”  Their voice is so soft, so tiny ( fitting for them ). Clark almost thinks that anyone without super hearing wouldn’t be able to hear them.
“ Yeah, well––wait, ‘ bean ’? ”
“ Human bean. ‘ Lois.’ “
Ah. Human being.  “ Bean. ”  That’s kinda cute.
“ Right. Yeah––I just . . . I dunno, you seemed terrified enough with me; I didn’t think you’d take too well to meeting another, er,  ‘ bean.’ ”  He shrugs the shoulder opposite the little one.  “ I take it you don’t really . . . interact with us very often. ”
“ Borrowers avoid being seen. It keeps us safe. Beans can be very . . . cruel to us. ”  Their tiny body shudders, which makes Clark suspect that they’ve got some first-hand experience. He doesn’t want to think about what kind of  “ cruel ”  things people have done.
“ Well . . . ”  He assumes that  “ borrower ”  is what they call themselves.  “ I’m sorry to hear that. Tell you what: for as long as you’re with me, I’ll keep you hidden. ”  He offers what he hopes to be a reassuring smile. To his delight, he does feel the borrower release some of that tension.
“ I . . . live in that building where you found me . . . ”
“ In the break room? ”
They nod.
“ Do . . . you want me to take you back? ”  That would be awkward, walking back into the Daily Planet just minutes after leaving. He could probably make the excuse that he forgot something . . ..
“ N–no, it’s . . . it would be weird for you to go back when you’re  ‘ not feeling well. ’ ”
Yeah, they get it. Clark sighs and looks back to the street beyond the alley. He doesn’t want to just take them home with him if they don’t want to come . . ..
“ If you, um–– . . . you could, uh, put me down here, and I––you could put me down and I could get back on my own. ”
His attention snaps back to them, making them flinch at the sudden movement. There was a fair amount of fear not just in their voice, but in their heart. They didn’t like the idea, and neither did Clark. What if they got stepped on, or caught by an animal, or–––
“ You don’t have to do that. I don’t want you to do that. If you’re––if you’re okay with it, you could come home with me, and I’ll bring you back tomorrow. ”
He can tell that they don’t care for that idea either.
“ And if I’m . . . not okay with that . . .? ”  There’s a slight quiver in their voice, like they’re fearful of retribution.
“ Then . . . I guess I could stay here. Or somewhere else hidden. ”  Not ideal, but he’s done worse. The borrower squirms, twisting in his pocket to better face him. They look quizzical––stunned, even.
“ Y–you’d . . . do that? ”
“ Sure. Well––maybe we could move to a library or a coffee shop so I can work, but . . . I won’t take you anywhere you don’t want to go. ”
They fall silent, looking thoughtful. Clark is patient, letting them think and ponder their options. His eyes wander away from them, to the alley, and to the things beyond the alley. There’s someone walking a dog the next street over, some alley cats fighting a ways down . . .––geez, he really doesn’t want to leave the borrower here if there are cats around.
“ I’ll . . . I’ll come with you to your home, ”  comes the little voice once more. Clark looks down, his eyes softening.
“ You sure? ”
They sink back into his pocket, hiding away for the journey.  “ Yeah. ”
Alright then. Clark waits until they’re settled, then heads back out of the alley.
As it turns out, having a borrower in the house is actually quite stressful. Clark had anticipated a transition period for himself and his new companion, but, upon releasing the little being onto his kitchen counter, he quickly realizes that he is the only one in need of adjusting. They seem perfectly at home, rushing off towards the wall to climb something he hadn’t even thought to be climbable ( much to Clark’s fright ). Immediately he has to fight back the urge to grab them again, scoop them up and protect them. They scale the wall expertly, jump up onto appliances, clearly at home. His fingers twitch.
“ Right then . . .. So you clearly don’t need my help getting around . . .. How long have you been living at the Daily Planet? ”
The little one pauses, seemingly a little startled, as if they’d forgotten that he was right there. Based on their current path, Clark assumes they were heading for the top of the fridge, where he keeps some cereals and fruits.
“ Uh . . . a few months. ”  From how their voice lifts, it sounds more like a question, like there could be a wrong answer.
“ Really? How have you been there that long and not–––hey! ”
He extends his hands under the borrower, but they sail right over, high and far enough to catch the edge of the fridge. They struggle for a moment to regain footing on the smooth side, then pull themselves up on top, looking pleased. Now Clark’s starting to get an idea of how they ended up in their earlier predicament . . ..
“ Clark . . .? ”
He snaps from his momentary shock, eyes wide as they settle on the borrower.
“ Sorry, you just––do you do that often? ”
“ What? Jump? ”  They regard him with a quizzical look.  “ Yeah. I’m not as tall as you beans, so I kinda have to jump. ”
Of course. Makes sense. Clark hides his hands behind his back, feeling a little foolish. It’s second-nature for him to be protective, especially of the helpless. ( Then again, the borrower doesn’t seem too helpless. ) How should he offer help without seeming condescending?
“ Okay. Well . . . you know I can . . . get whatever you need for you, right? ”  It sounded better in Clark’s head. He grimaces.  “ Not––not that you really need me too, but . . .. ”  There really is no way to make that sound good out loud, is there?
“ I’ll keep that in mind. ”  Soft footsteps scurry over to the bunch of bananas, where the little being starts tugging at the peel. Clark has to stifle the urge to reach up and help them with it.
This . . . is going to be an interesting night. He’s going to have to be extra careful, extra aware of everything if he’s to avoid accidentally harming his house guest.
“ So, uh . . . you never told me your name. You do have one, right? ”
The borrower pulls their head from the fruit, oblivious to little bits of banana stuck in their hair. They finish their chew and swallow, then answer:  “ It’s [ Y/N ]. ”  Then it’s back into the banana for them. Clark suspects they don’t get much access to fresh fruit in the break room. Maybe he should start bringing some fruit . . ..
“ Right. Okay, [ Y/N ]. I’m gonna set up at the table to work. Just shout if you need me, okay? ”
They’re preoccupied with the banana, but they do shoot him a tiny thumbs up. Interesting. Clark smiles to himself, and heads off to do as he said. Perry’s going to be pissed if Clark doesn’t deliver like he promised. Still, he can’t help but glance over fairly often, checking up on the borrower to make sure they’re safe.

Today's entry is an interesting one. It was originally published in black-and-white in The Amazing World of Superman (Metropolis Edition), an oversized magazine published to coincide with the opening of a World of Superman Theme Park in Metropolis, IL, which sadly never opened. The book features a bunch of interesting content, including a Superman drawing guide by Curt Swan, a review of the Broadway musical, a step-by-step description of how comics were made in the early 1970s, and this brand new retelling of Superman's origin, which would eventually be colored and reprinted a bunch of times, most recently in the Superman Through the Ages one-shot, which we'll be revisiting at least once in this series. I'll be pulling some of the color images for the post from Secret Origins of the Super DC Heroes. Creative Team: E. Nelson Bridwell, Carmine Infantino, Curt Swan, Murphy Anderson, and Gaspar Saladino. All-Star Summary: Doomed planet. Desperate parents. Last hope. Kindly couple.
Key Elements: The distant planet Krypton is home to a highly-advanced civilization of super-intelligent humanoids. The scientist Jor-El believes that the planet is going to explode, but the Science Council dismisses his concerns. He returns to his wife Lara and their infant son Kal-El, and builds a functioning model space-ship. As the planet begins its final destruction, the distraught parents place their child in the rocket and send it into space.
I've always loved this particular shot, which Byrne recreates in Man of Steel
The rocket lands on Earth and is discovered by Jonathan and Martha Kent, an older couple who are driving by when they see it crash. They rescue the child and bring it to an orphanage in Smallville. The child displays superhuman abilities, and the Kents return to adopt him. They name him Clark after Martha's maiden name. Clark's powers develop as he grows older, including invulnerability, super-speed, amazing leaping abilities, and X-Ray vision. Eventually he becomes a costumed hero named Superboy, and his parents die of an illness. On his deathbed, Jonathan tells Clark to use his powers for good. Clark is distraught that for all his power, he wasn't able to save his adopted parents. Clark leaves Smallville, attends Metropolis University, and gets a job at the Daily Planet, so that he can easily keep tabs on crimes and disasters as they happen. And when they happen, he's off to save the world as Superman.
Jor-El has a flair for the dramatic
Interesting Deviations: Kryptonians have studied Earth and the abilities that a Kryptonian would develop on that world, which they attribute to both its weaker gravitational pull and yellow sun. Jor-El proposes "return[ing] to our abandoned space program and build[ing] giant space-arks to carry our people to another world!--Earth!" The Kryptonian Science Council suggests that this plan is an attempted political coup on Jor-El's part. Jor-El builds his model rocket after meeting with the Council, probably to account for the existence of Krypto and Beppo in this continuity (though we know that this incident isn't the only time he's brought his concerns up to the Council, so it's possible that other versions where the meeting happens closer to the planet's destruction isn't a contradiction). He explicitly states that it's big enough to fit Kal-El and Lara, but Lara chooses to stay behind and die with her husband.
The Kents find Kal-El's rocket directly, and unlike in a lot of the early origins, the rocket remains undamaged and they bring it back home with them. They express desire to adopt the child right away, as opposed to coming back later. Clark accidentally uses X-Ray vision to find Martha's missing ring behind an opaque object in a scene reminiscent of one in Lowther's Adventures of Superman novel. Martha and Jonathan die of an illness, and Martha is first to pass in this version.
Additional Commentary: The Kents have this plan to hide the rocket after they drop baby Kal off at the orphanage, but they drive into and through town with the ship uncovered in the back of their pickup. It's ambiguous enough in the black-and-white story, but when it's been recolored, the Kents are elderly again when they pass away. Which makes sense, that's how they looked in Superman (vol. 1) #161 when their death (due to the dreaded fever plague, which they contracted from pirate treasure), except that in Superboy (vol. 1) #145 (which came out five years after the Superman issue and five years before this story), the Kents unknowingly drink a youth serum and are "permanently" made twenty years younger. None of this is a problem with this story necessarily, but I'm curious to know if any effort was ever made to reconcile the different flashbacks. Similarly, the scene where Jonathan tells Clark to use his powers to better mankind is straight out of the Lowther novel, but makes less sense in a continuity where he's been operating as Superboy for years. This story does a good job of weaving in some of the other popular media hallmarks, starting with the "Faster than a speeding bullet!" opening from the radio show and other programs, and ending with the familiar "Look! Up in the sky!" cry. It's exactly the kind of thing you'd want to have in a book designed to be consumed by the general public who may not be avid comics readers. I've mused about the difficulties caused here and there by the complex continuity that had accumulated up to this point, with different variations on Superman's origin and flashbacks to his adventures as Superboy, but Bridwell, Infantino, & Co. are wise to gloss over it as much as they do. Though they decided to include a kind of strange anecdote about Superboy's farewell to Smallville...
...rather than, say, a single line of dialogue from Lois Lane. But overall, this is a pretty solid retelling of the origin, and one that I think most people would recognize as pretty definitive.
The Rocket: And this is probably the most definitive thing here. When I think about Superman's pre-Crisis rocket, this is the one I'm thinking of. It's got that Superman color scheme (in the reprints, anyway), it's got a shape that's retrofuturistic but distinctive, it's The Rocket.
Five out of five exploding Kryptons, would ride again.

I feel like public opinions on Superman is higher than its been for a while, thoughts?
I’m afraid I very thoroughly disagree. In fact, thinking about DC’s handling of Superman recently - a common topic of late-night brooding sessions - it really occurred to me what an absolutely hellish decade the dude’s had.
2008: Kurt Busiek leaves Superman, James Robinson takes over (according to some in the place of Mark Waid), the book immediately goes to shit. New Krypton later begins, the entire Superman line collectively understood among fandom as going to shit along with it.
2009: As a consequence of the aforementioned New Krypton situation, Superman is in neither Superman nor Action Comics for the majority of the year, both being taken over by - generously - C-listers.
2010: Superman: Earth One, I would sincerely argue the worst Superman comic of all time and one that even at the time drew snickering comparisons to Twilight, is DC’s major outreach towards the bookstore market. Young Justice begins to considerable approval, portraying him as essentially a deadbeat dad who refuses to acknowledge Superboy as family, or even acknowledge him period to the extent that can be helped until the season finale. New Krypton fades into Grounded, among the most widely reviled Superman stories ever.
2011: Smallville, the last ongoing TV series to star Clark Kent, ends; many (even if I’m not among them myself) are understandably enraged that Tom Welling never actually appears as Superman aside from a split-second shirt rip, seeing it as a betrayal of the premise of the series and ten years of buildup. Meanwhile, the comics reboot him with a Jim Lee design that, at arguable best, works in few hands but his own (or more honestly is flat-out bad). Grant Morrison’s seemingly sure-thing relaunch of Action Comics, while greatly enjoyed by some such as myself, rapidly faces negative comparisons to his All-Star Superman work, which paired with dismal showings for the character in Justice League and Superman proper, along with publisher statements attempting to reinforce him as a brooding, violent, lonely avenger, result in a substantial and enduring fan backlash.
2012: The reboot separation from Lois Lane and tone-deaf efforts towards making Superman cooler culminate in a painfully stiff new relationship with Wonder Woman, to even further fan backlash. Noted sexual harasser Eddie Berganza, already internally acknowledged by DC as such, is demoted and handed custody of the Superman books in what was apparently considered an appropriate punishment. Scott Lobdell, already under fire for his treatment of Starfire at the beginning of the New 52 and facing a generally tepid creative response to his DC work, including Superboy, is given Superman proper.
2013: Man of Steel debuts to…let’s say divisive results. Injustice becomes his most prominent video game incarnation since Superman 64 by default. Grant Morrison’s Action Comics concludes, with incoming Andy Diggle leaving the book before his first issue is even released, and ending up under Scott Lobdell for a bit before finally finding its way to Greg Pak.
2014: At the tail end of a mercifully pretty dang good year, with even the customary bloated crossover Doomed ending up better than most (in spite of a shoehorned in pair of instances of Superman being forced to kill to match the movies), Superman Unchained concludes after months of devastating delays, signalling the beginning of the end of the creative triumvirate of Scott Snyder/Jim Lee, Geoff Johns/John Romita Jr., and Greg Pak/Aaron Kuder/Jae Lee attempting to rehabilitate his comics image. Before long, Johns leaves his book to Gene Yang’s hands in what ended up an unpredictably disastrous tenure, while Pak and company are buried under crossovers.
2015: Truth begins to - aside from a headline-grabbing early segment by Pak and Kuder with Superman standing with protesters against police - near-universal hatred by the fanbase, seeing it as DC’s latest cringingly tone-deaf and desperate effort at making Superman conventionally cool, while severely undermining Lois Lane’ character in the process.
2016: Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is released, almost immediately becoming the most ubiquitous cultural shorthand for ‘bad movie’ since Transformers. Tyler Hoechlin debuts as Superman on Supergirl to the most mainstream praise the character has received in literal decades, with the CW and WB responding by publicly stating that they have no intention of developing a series for him. Superman dies in the comics after a short and ignominious crossover, replaced - to be fair, to no small degree of fan acclaim, even if I didn’t share in the love - by his own past-continuity self, a state of late-90s X-Men-esque continuity bugfuckery lasting about a year. Superman: American Alien, the most generally well-received Superman story for years in either direction, concludes; its author would flee from public life the following year after being repeatedly accused of sexual assault.
2017: Justice League’s attempt at reorienting Superman towards a more classic take, while winning some praise, is generally useless in the face of critical antipathy towards the film and crushing financial failure relative to expectations, with the bulk of Superman-related discussion spinning out of it focusing on his unfortunate CGI mouth. Injustice 2 is released, with no ‘good’ universe Superman this time to contrast the games’ take on him as a tyrannical mass-murderer.
2018: Action Comics #1000 dropped to broadly positive results…with the exception of the story by the actual incoming writer of the line, which while I enjoyed it, was hated by a significant number of readers as far as I can tell. Additionally, if the new rumors are true, the team behind All-Star Superman had a story prepared for it that was spiked to avoid somehow clashing with Doomsday Clock - a company-steering comic advertised as being largely about him that has yet to feature him in any meaningful capacity one third of the way through aside from him cameoing having a nightmare - and if that’s true, whether as a matter of unfortunate logistics or ego, if there’s a metaphor for everything wrong with modern DC comics more potent than Superman being so profoundly screwed over for his 1000th issue on his 80th birthday for the sake of not maybe spiritually contradicting them doing more Watchmen knock-off comics, I can’t think of it. As of this writing, Superman is one of the two Justice Leaguers not officially known to have a movie in active development; by next year there will be TV shows starring Supergirl with Jimmy Olsen, Lois Lane with Lex Luthor, and Jor-El’s father with Adam Strange, but no indications have emerged that Tyler Hoechlin might reemerge in any capacity, nevermind get his own series; aside from the Bendis run, the only major Superman comics project on the horizon is his one book for the Black Label (where Batman and Wonder Woman get two projects apiece, largely by fan-favorite creators), Superman: Year One by Frank Miller and Romita Jr., the former being the writer of the infamously racist Holy Terror.
So no. Superman is not doing good. Not on any front. There has been good stuff to be sure, but on the macro scale? Superman hasn’t been doing good in a very, very long time.

Heartbeat|| Smallville!Clark Kent x reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: you’ve been feeling a bit under the weather lately, however you thought nothing of it. until one day you’re sitting in Clark’s office at the daily planet when your superhuman husband hears a heartbeat, and it doesn’t belong to you…
pairing: smallville!clark kent x reader
warnings: pregnant reader and lots of fluff
“Y/n, I need you to write this article for me about- hey are you okay?”
You lifted your head off of your desk, rubbing your face with your hands. You took a deep breath, opening your eyes. You were greeted by a frowning Lois Lane.
You smiled softly, “Yeah, I’m okay.”
She placed the folder in her hands on your desk. “Well you don’t look okay.”
“It’s just a headache, Lois.”
She nodded, “Alright. Well, if you need anything, you know where to find me.”
You smiled, “Thank you.”
She returned the smile before walking back to her desk. You sighed, rubbing your aching temples. You’ve felt absolutely awful for the past week. Between the headaches, mood swings, constant nausea—especially in the morning, and sore boobs, you’ve felt miserable. You brushed it off as PMS symptoms since you were expecting to get your monthly period soon.
As you were looking through the folder full of information for the article Lois had brought you, you noticed someone had placed a coffee down on your desk. You moved your attention from the folder to whoever brought you the coffee.
“Well thank you Mr. Kent.”
“You’re welcome Mrs. Kent.” Your husband replied, his beautiful smile widening across his face.
“Lois told me you had a headache, so I thought i’d bring you some coffee. Figured caffeine might help.”
You smiled, “Have you ever been told that you’re the best husband ever?”
Clark shrugged, “A few times,” he smiled, “but I thought she was kidding.”
“Well she must be crazy if she’s kidding.”
You puckered your lips up at him, he chuckled as he leaned down to plant a sweet kiss to your lips.
“Thank you for the coffee, my love.”
He stroked your cheek softly, “You’re welcome. Hopefully it’ll help your head. I’ll see you later, sweetheart.”
You wave goodbye as he walked back into his office. You looked at the coffee cup, hesitantly picking it up. You weren’t sure why, but something inside of you told you not to drink the coffee.
“If you’re not gonna drink that, I will.” Lois chuckled, sitting down on the edge of your desk.
You sighed, “I want to, it’s just something is telling me I shouldn’t.”
“Hey, don’t count calories sweetie. You and Smallville have been married for what, a year now? You don’t have to worry about fitting into your wedding dress anymore. Drink all the coffee you want.”
You nodded, laughing lightly, “That’s not why. Then again, I’m not a hundred percent sure why though.
Lois chuckled, crossing her arms, “I’m sure it won’t hurt, just try it. It might help your head, you could be caffeine deprived.”
Lois had a point. You always did feel off when you hadn’t had any caffeine throughout the day. You picked up the coffee and took a sip of the hot liquid. It was your favorite, a Y/F/C/B (your favorite coffee beverage lol).
As soon as you swallowed your coffee, you felt the urge for it to come right back up. You placed the cup down on your desk as your hands flew over your mouth. You bolted up out of your chair and ran to the bathroom. Lois frowned, following you into the bathroom. You instantly threw yourself toward the toilet, throwing up the little contests left in your stomach. Lois held your hair back and rubbed your back as you threw up.
“Jeez, Y/n. If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you’re pregnant.”
You groaned into the bowl, spitting out your saliva.
“Very funny Lois.”
She chuckled, “I’m just saying. I’ve heard some stories…plus have you seen your husband? I mean you could just look at him and get pregnant!”
There was no way you were pregnant.
You lifted your head from the bowl and gave Lois your best RBF.
“Sorry.” She grimaced.
“It’s okay. You do have a point…” you trailed off, biting your lip as you thought about Clark.
You were one lucky lady…in more ways than one ;)
Lois let go of you hair and stood up. She put her hands on her hips as she watched you stand up to look at yourself in the mirror. She gently placed a hand on your shoulder, giving you a sympathetic smile.
“Are you okay?”
You nodded, “Yeah, Im okay now. I think I might just have a bug or something. That coffee was just the cherry on top that made my body have enough of whatever is going on.”
“Okay,” she nodded, “Well, I’m going to go get you some water. Stay here, I’ll be right back.”
You smiled, “Thank you Lois.”
“Of course.”
Lois walked out of the bathroom, leaving you alone. She walked down the hallway towards the main room of the Daily Planet where all the desks were. As she walked into the main room, she ran right into Clark Kent himself.
“Woah, sorry about that Clark.”
“It’s alright,” he smiled. His smile quickly turned into a look of confusion though, “Hey, have you seen Y/n anywhere?”
“I’m actually getting water for her right now.” Lois spoke walking towards a mini fridge that sat near her desk that was full of bottled water.
“Okay? Well, where is she?” Clark asked.
“The bathroom.”
“Is she okay? Why does she need water-.”
Lois sighed heavily, placing a hand on the worrisome mans shoulder, “Don’t worry Smallville, she is now. She was throwing up though.”
“Throwing up!?” Clark’s expression grew even more worried.
Lois just chuckled as she walked back down the hallway back towards the bathroom. Clark followed right behind her. Once Lois reached the door she turned to face Clark.
She sighed, “Did you not hear what I said? She’s okay now.”
Clark gulped, his face still full of worry.
Lois rolled her eyes, “Stop worrying so much, Clark. She’s a human. She gets sick, it happens. Come on, you know that. Haven’t you had a little stomach bug before?”
Clark went to speak but he quickly closed his mouth. He never had a “little stomach bug” before. Kryptonians don’t get sick like humans do.
Lois smiled smugly, “Thought so. Now, if you don’t mind, I’m going to give this water to your wife. I’m sure she desperately needs it.”
Clark nodded, “Okay.” Before Lois could walk into the bathroom, Clark stopped her.
“By the way, could you tell her to see me in my office when she’s up to it, please?
“Sure thing, Kent.”
Clark smiled softly, “Thanks Lois.”
She smiled at him before disappearing behind the bathroom door. Clark sighed in defeat, walking back to his office. Even with Lois’ reassurance, he was still worried about you. While you do get sick, it’s not often that you’re sick for as long as you have been.
Lois walked back into the bathroom handing you the bottle of water. You smiled taking it from her. As soon as you had the water in your hand, you screwed the top off and took a swig, swishing it around in your mouth to rid your taste buds of the lingering taste of vomit. Once you spit the water out, you took a sip, careful not to drink too much.
“Sorry it took so long, your husband stopped me in the hall.”
“It’s alright, don’t apologize.” You smiled.
“Speaking of your husband, Clark is worried sick about you. He told me to ask you to come see him in his office when you’re feeling better.”
You frowned. It pained you knowing your sweet husband was so concerned about you and your health.
“I’ll go see him right now.” You smiled. You gave Lois a quick hug before walking out of the bathroom.
“Have fun in there Y/n, but not too much fun!” She called out as you walked down the hall.
You laughed, “Cant make any promises!”
You rubbed your hands on your skirt as you got closer to the office marked CLARK KENT. You knocked on the door, waiting for Clark’s approval for you to come into his office.
“Come in!” He called.
You turned the knob and walked into his office, greeting him with a smile.
“Mr. Kent. I heard you wanted to see me.”
He cleared his throat, “Ah, Mrs. Kent. Yes I did.”
You locked the door and walked over to his desk. He stood from his chair and walked around from behind his desk. As soon as he got close enough, he wrapped his arms around you, softly rubbing your back. You laid your head against his chest, humming at the comfort and familiarity that was Clark’s muscular middle.
He pulled away, holding your hands in his. His brows furrowed with worry.
“Lois told me you got sick.”
“I did, but i’m okay now. Don’t worry about me, Clark.”
You gently stroked his cheek. He blushed at the gesture. Even though you and Clark have been together for many years, you’re still able to make him flustered.
“I think it’s just a little bug, that’s all.” You reassured him.
He nodded, “Okay. Hopefully you’ll feel better soon. I hate to see you sick.” He frowned, rubbing the top of your hand with his thumb.
He let go of your hands and pulled a chair over to the front of his desk for you to sit in. You smiled at him and sat down in the chair. He walked back over to his and sat down. Clark could sense that something seemed a bit off in the room. However, he couldn’t quite figure out what it was.
“So,” you breathed out, “any new interesting articles?”
Clark shook his head, picking up a folder, “Not really. Just this,” he read off the headline of an article, “Locals share their favorite activities to do in Metropolis.”
You laughed, “Oh wow, so interesting!”
Clark chuckled, “Very.”
You and Clark both smiled. You had an idea for an article pop into your head just then, so you decided to tell Clark about what you had in mind. As you were talking, your superhuman husband was too busy trying to figure out what was throwing the vibe in the room off. It wasn’t that it was bad, it was just different. He did, however, make sure to nod along and make little comments about what you seemed to be so enthused about. Clark tuned out your voice for just a bit so he could focus and use his super-hearing ability. He wanted to make sure there was nothing in the room that could harm you, or that there was nothing wrong with you.
Clark could hear the sound of people outside of his office talking, Chloe stapling papers, a man talking on the phone, and Lois smacking her bubble gum. He had to focus even harder to hear what was going on inside of his office only. He had tuned you out completely now, but you were too occupied to notice at the moment. Once Clark was focused enough, he could hear the sound of his clock ticking as each second passed, his printer clicking as it stayed on, and his favorite sound in the world, your heartbeat.
Your heartbeat sounded perfectly normal to him. Just as Clark was about to “turn off” his super-hearing and focus on you, another sound caught his attention. It was the same whooshing sound of your heartbeat, only faster and a bit quieter. He furrowed his brows in confusion. You must have noticed him.
“Clark, what’s wrong?”
He held his hand up, signaling for you to be quiet, “Just wait, Y/n/n.”
You cocked your head to the side, confusion and worry spreading across your face as Clark’s face contorted into a look of concentration. It was then that you realized he was using his super-hearing. For what exactly? You had no idea.
Clark heard your heartbeat first, then the second heartbeat like sound filled his ear. He focused for a bit, trying to figure out what in his office could mimic the sound of a human heartbeat. After listening to the sound for a few seconds, he soon realized the second heartbeat was coming from you. He shook himself out of his concentration, looking at his wife.
“What is it Clark?”
He shook his head, “I-I don’t know. It almost sounds like there’s another heartbeat in the room?”
You giggled, “Well, I mean, humans do have heartbeats so…”
“This was different. It was a lot faster, but quieter. It was also coming from you.”
“I don’t, I don’t understand?”
“Maybe it’s crazy, but I swear I heard two heartbeats coming from inside of you.” Clark said, sounding unsure of himself.
You’re face went pale as you felt your heart drop to your stomach. There was no way…Well, maybe there was. Okay, there definitely was a chance you could be pregnant.
You gulped, “Clark?”
He hummed.
“Can I see your calendar real quick?”
He nodded, taking the calendar off of his wall and handing it to you. Your eyes scanned over the dates on the calendar. You made a mental note each month when you were supposed to get your period, and sure enough, you were four days late. It all makes sense now. The nausea and vomiting, headaches, sore boobs, sensitive smell, late period, and a second heartbeat, weren’t symptoms of a bug, but a baby.
You were pregnant with Clark’s child. You felt tears well up in your eyes at the thought.
“Y/n? Are you alright?” Clark asked, standing up from his chair and kneeling in front of you.
You nodded, giving Clark a teary smile, “I am more than alright.”
“Then why are you crying, beautiful?”
You sniffled and grabbed his large hand, holding it in yours. You tried to say something to him, but no words would come out of your mouth. You gently placed his hand on your tummy. You put both of your hands over his hand, a smile on your face. You watched as a smile of realization grew on Clark’s face. He wanted to see for himself that you were indeed pregnant before saying anything. Clark used his x-ray vision and sure enough, there was a very tiny baby growing inside of you. Clark’s eyes grew watery as he grinned at you.
“We’re having a baby.”
You nodded vigorously, excitement and nerves flowing through your body. “Yes Clark. We’re having a baby.”
He stood from the ground, gently pulling you out of the chair you sat in. He pulled you into his embrace and squeezed you gently, so that he wouldn’t hurt you or the baby. Your grins never leaving your faces as you hugged each other. Clark pulled away, putting his forehead against yours.
“I love you, Y/n.” He kissed your forehead, “so much. Thank you for everything you have given me.He looked down at his hand, a smile on his face as he thought about the baby. You and Clark had talked about kids in the past, but you two didn’t think anything would happen since you’re biologically a human and he’s, well, he’s biologically an alien. But in your eyes, Clark Kent was a human.
You smiled, giving him a peck on the lips, “I love you too, Clark. I should be the one thanking you though. Without you I wouldn’t have this.” You held up your left hand, showing him your beautiful, diamond wedding ring. “And I certainly wouldn’t have,” you grabbed his hand, placing it on your still flat stomach, “this.”
Clark smiled warmly at you.
“This is wonderful, Y/n.”
“It is isn’t it? I never thought we’d have kids Clark.”
He shook his head, “Me neither, but I’m so glad we are. My mom will be so excited.”
You laughed, “Yes she will. You know who else will be excited?”
He hummed.
“Lois.” You smiled.
Clark rolled his eyes, chuckling, “Oh great, I cant wait to hear the amount of Smallville jokes that will come out of her mouth.”
You laughed, knowing Clark was right. Lois always had a sarcastic comment to make, especially when it came to Clark. You and Clark just stood there in each other’s arms until Clark kneeled down in front of you so he was eye level with your stomach. He placed his hands on either side of your hips, and looked up at you with a warm smile before directing his attention back to your baby.
“Hi baby Kent, it’s your daddy. I’m sure you can’t hear me yet, you’re still pretty tiny. But who knows? If you have some of my powers then maybe you can hear me. I just wanted to let you know that your mom and I are so excited, and we can’t wait to meet you. I love you.” He kissed your tummy softly before standing up from his kneeling position.
“And I love you.” he smiled, kissing your lips. You wrapped your arms around his neck as you kissed him back.
Yours and Clark’s life is going to change forever in about 8 months, but you both couldn’t wait to start this new chapter in your lives.
A/N: hi everyone!! just wanted to say thank you so much for all the love and support you’ve shown me on my imagines!! it is GREATLY appreciated<3 i’ll be posting some more clark kent (smallville of course) imagines in the near future, so stay tuned! i have so many ideas for him lol. also, as you have most likely realized, i’m not much of a multi-fandom writer anymore, so i apologize. smallville is my current obsession, plus, there is not enough smallville/tom wellings clark kent imagines on this app, so i thought i’d write some :) if you’re reading this, i hope you are doing well<3

While there are gods, superheroes and other weird and wonderful characters in the DC universe, I’m always drawn back to Lois Lane as one of my favourite characters.
Admittedly, in the comics she often plays the role of damsel in distress but there are other aspects of her character that are incredibly appealing. Lois is the first character to come to mind when considering strong women who don’t sacrifice their personalities. Lois is a fearless and ambitious journalist who regularly places herself in harm’s way in the pursuit of truth. There are many variations of Lois Lane, but they all converge on the singular idea that she is a strong-willed yet balanced individual.
Moreover, Lois Lane is able to stand out against superpowered characters. Sure, she can’t deflect bullets, fly or do magic. However, she is written with competence and abilities that complement her role as a journalist.
Lois is an excellent reporter. She is able to track down Superman despite his attempts to leave no identity trail behind. Lane is also able to uncover Lex Luthor’s plan to frame Superman for the deaths of many – even before Batman is able to understand Luthor’s plot. Lois’ intellect aids her in solving problems, but it primarily used for reporting and is reflected in the DC Extended Universe where she is written as a Pulitzer Prize winner at the Daily Planet.
In addition, Lois is socially intelligent and confident. However, she is not written to use her feminine charm as often as most female character are depicted. She uses her confidence to strike up friendships with often cynical people such as the Secretary of Defense to uncover truths and is able to easily interview the people of Smallville to reach Superman.
Perhaps one of Lane’s other abilities that aren’t as noticeable are her fighting skills. In the DC Extended Universe, Lane is competent when it comes to hand-to-hand combat, defeating another individual. Moreover, Lois is able to easily use a Kryptonian pistol to shoot other Kryptonians.
All of Lois Lane’s abilities highlight how she is a well-rounded individual, and while she does require saving on a number of occasions from Superman, she is well-equipped in most situations. What makes all of her skills even better, is that she does not need to sacrifice her fiery personality nor her desire to be in a relationship with Clark. Lois is written in the comics to balance a career and maternity.
In the Action Comics #966 (2016), Lois is noticeably absent from her home when her son and Superman return. It is explained that she has returned to work at the Daily Planet, and may not always be at home in time to see her son from school. It teaches both the comic characters and the readers that women like Lois have identities outside being mothers. In addition, it rebukes the stereotype that women who value their career are ‘selfish’. The comics depict Lois as someone who values both family and career, and that her returning to work does not diminish the love she has for her family.
Lois Lane is written like a modern day superhero. She’s three-dimensional in that she values her work, but does not have to sacrifice her personality nor a personal life. She fights for what’s right, but does not have x-ray vision or flight. She truly is the definition of a strong woman, and is not just a prop for Superman and is truly the feminist character we deserve.

Date Night!: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
Back when the swell fella who would become my boyfriend and I were in one of those strange middle grounds where we were on our way to becoming a couple and very, very aware of it, our first sort-of-date was when Tommy invited me to go see Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice on its opening night. I, of course, accepted, somewhat reluctantly. I can’t remember if I was expecting the film to be good or bad, though I’m sure before then some of its abysmal reviews had been public. I was also nervous about the whole “oh my god this is probably sort of a date isn’t it”, especially since at the time I didn’t know him all that well. This would be the first of many dates at Ze Cinemah, although after this we’d be perfectly, happily aware that they were all dates. Even better, I think, is our immediate discussions after the film is over, and how eager we are to talk about it and discuss what we’ve just seen. We’ve seen plenty of films together, and maybe I’ll talk about other ones we’ve seen someday, but I can already feel a pit in my stomach drop at having to talk about this stinking pile of steamingness. All said, Batman v Superman is one of those truly atrocious films, like The Judge or The Danish Girl, that works like so much manure and makes me start sparking and frothing with how horrible they were. It’s an energizer more than it is a depressive, though it for sure is both, and there is one thing about our date in particular that haunts me every day. It’s not even something the film did, but something I did, or almost did, but could have done more of. Something that perhaps could have changed the screening for the whole theater, or as Anthony Hopkins keeps saying in the trailers for the new Transformers movies “change the tide of human history itself”. I wonder about it every day and every night, as I sleep and as I wake, and especially as a type this story to you, The Void, and now I must share the tale of my screening of Batman vs Superman with you to get it of my chest, to free myself, and to see where the tides of human history itself shall take me. Also: I’m going to be very mean to this film, and am very not interested in hearing about how wrong I am from random eggs as I and many others I know have been on Twitter. I hate it, don’t care if you love it, for fuck’s sake leave me alone.
It didn’t take the two of us long to find a pair of seats, though we immediately moved to the row behind us because our view was partially blocked by the structure of the stairwell. We warned the couple who ended up taking those seats about it, though I can’t remember if they moved too. And the film starts. Zack Snyder has the gall to open the film by reminding us that Batman’s parents died in front of him during a robbery gone wrong. He also seemingly cannot hire Jeffrey Dean Morgan to do much beyond die in the openings of his films, though I remember he had more to do in Watchmen. The visual of Martha’s(!!!) pearl necklace snapping in the gun’s safety as the trigger is pulled is sort of fascinating but also pretty grotesque, all things considered. Batffleck is saying something, though I cannot remember what. We see the funeral, little Bruce running into the woods in sadness during the procession, only to fall into a well or pit or some such hole in the ground. The score, I’m sure, was going crazy.
And then, it happens. Baby Bruce is levitated out the pit by seemingly hundreds of bats flying around him like a tornado, floating him towards the light. This is how we are abruptly told that this is a dream sequence, and reader, I laughed. Not the cackle it deserved, but I couldn’t stop it from escaping completely. I chuckled, giggled, whatever; I’m pretty sure Tommy hit me on the arm to calm me down and get me stop but I’m not quite sure. The giggle is what counts, though, and it haunts me. What if I had just burst out laughing at a moment that the whole theater was palpably flummoxed by? Batffleck wakes up but I am still reeling from the horseshit prologue we have been subjected to. It is not the most nonsensical thing we are going to see in this movie. It is not even the least plot-relevant indulgence that Zack Snyder will take us through, nor the least inexplicable jump of energy or plot logic that we’ll be forced to sit through. Academy Award winner Holly Hunter will be forced to stare dramatically, in close-up, to a jar of piss before she and dozens of other people are killed in an assassination plot meant to frame Superman, whose own close up registers at the subtle, bottomless despair and discomfort of sitting on the can and realizing you’re not quite done shitting, except Henry Cavill also registers as remarkably bored. Jeremy Irons reads every line as Alfred Pennyworth with such bitchy, subtly nasty inflections that I actually found the character an unwelcome presence, though if anyone found this a life raft of something enjoyable happening on screen, particularly Irons, then by all means savor him. Amy Adams will throw a Kryptonite spear into an underwater pile of rubble and, with no indication that Lois Lane has been told why the heroes need it to vanquish the rock monster that is Doomsday, dives into the water and nearly drowns recovering it. Batman slaughters - in fact, he often guns down - dozens of criminals on screen, brands sex offenders, had one montage that’s just him training to become even beefier and another, completely bizarre dream sequence that may also be a warning from another dimension’s Flash where Superman is technically Hitler, and Barry Allen screams about Lois Lane before Batffleck wakes up at his desk, which is meant to convey that this May Have Been A Dream Or Is It Ooooooh. This scene has no narrative impact and is never referenced again, though it is not as patently stupid as is the sight of Superman, wielding that Kryptonite spear, deciding to kamikaze himself by killing Doomsday with the knowledge that he cannot survive any assault the giant may bring on him while he is in such close proximity to said spear, ignoring the two superheroes who have been helping him fight Doomsday this whole time.
There are plenty of other absurd, delicious, amazingly shitty one-offs. Michael Shannon is credited for appearing in the film for the three seconds General Zod’s corpse floats in the remains of his spaceship. The President of the United States decides to nuke Superman in the middle of his fight with Doomsday after the latter threw the Man of Steel into the Earth’s orbit (a safe enough distance to nuke him, I suppose). Diane Lane is duck taped and tied to a chair, threatened to be burned alive as Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor throws photos of her with “Witch” written on her face, and all of this is tied into some mythological asinine crap that is Luthor’s motivation for wanting to kill Superman and create Doomsday in the first place. Eisenberg spends the whole film as some combination of Edward Nygma and a meth addict’s impersonation of Heath Ledger’s Joker, and it is by far the biggest trainwreck in the whole film. I think I also resisted laughing once “MARTHA!!???!?!?!?!!!” happened but in truth, I blocked that out of my memory. The sheer joy of seeing Wonder Woman, and hearing the score come alive as she roars into battle, literally, at some points, is all that is keeping me from giving this film an F grade, though perhaps I just can’t rate an Amy Adams film that low. Gal Gadot is at least enjoying herself, which is in even bigger contrast to the stark constipation that Cavill and Ben Affleck are constantly exuding. The film has ideas about literal hero worship, about what Superman could mean or stand for, and wants to have real conversations about his necessity, but it jerry-rigs them through Christic imagery and working hard to undermine the criticisms of genuine challengers and the critics themselves. Bruce’s hatred and suspicion of the Man of Steel seems completely arbitrary, banking on the fear of Superman turning on humanity in spite of his big coming-out party as a global entity being the eradication of his home species for the sake of mankind. Horrific as the collateral damage was, it’s not in line with anything Superman does in the film, is shown as doing, or is framed as doing by Synder himself, who doesn’t pretend for a moment that there’s actually anything wrong with Superman. He’s content to make the man a misunderstood martyr, a golden boy whose death inspires the formation of The Justice League and the warming up of Batman’s glacial, inherently distrusting heart. Superman is basically fridged on behalf of Bruce Wayne, and it’s clumsily executed as Smallville himself is.
There are so many vile, absurd, abstracted, unnecessary, horrific moments in this film and yet, I still wonder how much that night would’ve changed had I actually burst out laughing at the beginning of the film. What would’ve changed for the whole theater if some jackass sitting hear the back-left had cackled as a small child is literally lifted out of a scene the filmgoing public had seen at least seventy-eight million times by now, one that kicks off an indefensibly ghastly excuse for a Hollywood spectacle lit worse than even the lowest budge episode of The X-Files and colored like it’s scared that bright shades will deflate how Dour and Serious this Cinematic Experience is? Recounting many of the set pieces I’ve already mentioned back to my sister afterwards I couldn’t help cackling at some of them, though I did so far more angrily with Tommy immediately after, baffled not just that I had paid for this film but that it even existed, that anybody who made this gigantic dumpster fire thought that it was in any way a competently crafted, psychologically or emotionally coherent picture. Could we, as a crowd, as a community, have laughed at this horseshit for what it was? I love that in horror movies the audience always make the pact with itself that fine, this is a lot, you deserve a good scream. This picture was even more upsetting, and perhaps if I’d laughed, having taken the piss out of it so goddamn early, we wouldn’t have had to just sit there and take it. We could’ve fought back and laughed at it (with it?), openly railed against it, or just fucking not be quiet throughout this whole ordeal. I will always be haunted by this inaction on my part, and to this day it shames me.
He did try to defend parts of it, but not much, and for sure stole my comments about how Eisenberg wasn’t even playing Lex Luthor when we starting talking about the film to our RA Josh and fellow hallmate Dylan in the hall that same night. Josh peddled the theory that Marvel people had paid off critics to hate on DC’s live-action features, which I challenged by asking why Marvel would even need to do that. It’s not even that DC’s films are so drastically worse than any of Marvel’s features, but Marvel at least has a brand formula at work. Their knock is never that their bad, just predictable and uninspired, though they’ve been getting a little better at going against both those counts lately, with the Guardians films at least. And I will say this for Batman v Superman: It’s awfulness has staked a far larger claim on my mental landscape than The Avengers or Deadpool or most Marvel fare ever has. I liked Man of Steel fine, was particularly impressed by the early minimalism in portraying Superman’s powers, especially his x-ray vision, and was even playing devil’s advocate with family members I saw it with. I’m semi-interested to return to it, but not passionately so. You for sure couldn’t call this film formulaic, perhaps unworthy of all the bombast it’s applying to itself but worthy of notice the way a burning car is, or how Jeff Goldblum and Laura Dern are seemingly in awe of that giant pile of shit in Jurassic Park. As dubious as literally every aspect of this film is, the sheer magnitude of its awfulness is compelling in such a way that I became anticipatory of the film’s eventual Rifftrax takedown as I was watching it. I don’t know how soon into it this idea started, but once Amy Adams dived in to get that spear I could already hear the befuddled joke about Lois Lane: Plot Psychic that Kevin Murphy would probably hurl at the screen, and it made this mess a little bit better.
All things being honest, I am absolutely going to see Justice League with my boyfriend, though I wonder how much more excited he is than I am. I loathed Suicide Squad but thought it was so poorly edited I stopped caring and would up having something of an okay time, appreciating Margot Robbie trying to find a character in Harley Quinn and relishing that Viola Davis actively seemed to want to be there a little as I did. Of course I’ve seen Wonder Woman, a step above most recent DC efforts in that it’s compelling, competently told and emotionally resonant, though it really shows Gadot isn’t much of an actress. There’s a lot about it I questioned in the moment but I am so, so appreciative of Wonder Woman as a film that exists, and one I mostly enjoyed seeing even as I actively wished for a better version of the film while I was watching it. Maybe I should just not see these given how much I end up railing against these projects, but I love watching movies with my guy (who I also love) and they are great conversation fodder. Plus, we watch lots of better movies together! Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was the first of many, many delightful date night movies, and we weren’t even dating yet! My guy was easily the best part of the film, though it’d be a discredit to it say that it wasn’t a memorable experience, future boyfriend or no. I truly hope I never see it again, at least not sober, but I got a great story out of it, and a great man too, which is more than a lot of movies have ever given me. And at the end of the day, it’s that the biggest reward a person could get? It’s not like this makes Batman v Superman anything more than a gray, ugly, violent, gross, despicable, unpleasant, misogynistic, time-wasting, utterly horrendous, steaming pile of shit. But hey, it counts for something.
