[Reposting this because I'm dumb stupid and don't know how reblogs work! This was supposed to be a reblog of this post by @g0nta-g0kuhara, a multi-part analysis of Kokichi Oma in Chapter 4]
Ooh a meta post! Sends me back to when I was first researching the DRV3 fandom before playing the game (I'm a little backwards, I know...). I only read the one part, but I wanted to chime in with some additions on top of the existing analysis.
Interestingly, the "neutral Kokichi face" that's highlighted in this post is one of two "neutral faces" that Kokichi makes throughout the game. That would be stand_005_037, or Kokichi's 37th sprite.
Tumblr media
The other "neutral face" is the next sprite over, stand_005_038, which appears in a different context from the previous sprite. The difference between the two is really not terribly noticeable at a glance, so here's a visual.
Tumblr media
Up to now, I've considered sprite 37 to be Kokichi's "unserious neutral", as his expression appears more relaxed than that of sprite 38, what I've thought to be his "serious neutral".
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You know he's not serious when he's agreeing with Maki.
With the information from this analysis, though, it might be more accurate to call it his "masking neutral". Kokichi will use sprite 38 in low-emotion situations when he has a point to get across, like here in the Chapter 3 post-trial.
Tumblr media
However, in high-emotion situations, as said in the initial analysis post, Kokichi is likely trying to hold himself back. That's when sprite 37 comes in.
Tumblr media
Bro is either stifling a laugh or seething with anger in there
Regarding Kokichi's sprite 38, there's some stuff I've come across which loosely implies that it initially had a different design. When Kaito recaps his conversation with Kokichi in the hangar in the Chapter 5 post-trial, the conversation is portrayed with a sepia tone. The sprites for this conversation aren't really "sprites", per-se -- the entire scenario is actually stored as a series of background images in the game files.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One image that caught my attention, however, was bg_201_11:
Tumblr media
On my first playthrough of the game, I dubbed this sprite "Kokichi angy"
This image stands out at a glance because of the Kokichi sprite, which isn't seen anywhere else in the entire game. Compared to the other images in the set, this image actually seems to be from an older build of the game, as the shadows in the background, shading on the sprites, and position of Kokichi's arm-belt-things are different.
Tumblr media
bg_201_11 vs bg_201_01
My guess is that this unused sprite was an older version of sprite 38, especially since the current sprite 38 has similar errors as the older sprite.
Tumblr media
Personally, I'm glad "Kokichi angy" wasn't actually used in the final game. He looks a little too much like a wet cat.
On another topic, also related to the linked analysis: let's talk about the ever controversial whiteboard note written by Kokichi under Shuichi's photo which, in the English localization, reads "trustworthy?"
Tumblr media
As many people have pointed out, both now and in the past, this note was translated oddly and the original text was 「油断ならない?」 (yudan naranai?).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Though it's often translated by fans as “sneaky or cunning”, the literal translation is actually “don't be careless”, with “yudan” meaning “careless” and “naranai” meaning “must not (be)”. This is translateable in most situations as “dangerous”, hence that being the stock translation supplied by Jisho.org.
After all, "don't be careless" has essentially the same meaning as "this is dangerous", in most situations at least (think mountain climbing, or traveling through a dark alley; you wouldn't want to be careless because it is dangerous, you don't know what to expect so it's treacherous and sneaky).
When translating a note regarding a person, though, I would think "don't be careless" would be more appropriate, especially considering Shuichi isn't particularly dangerous compared to some other people in the academy whose dangers are well known (*cough cough* Maki)
You can find the independent translated meanings of yudan and naranai on Jisho as well as on Wikitionary (yudan, naranai).
So, Kokichi is essentially telling himself to stay on his guard around Shuichi, since he doesn't know what to expect from him. His attempt to team up with Shuichi in Chapter 4 was probably his confirmation that Shuichi wanted nothing to do with him, and that he should formulate his plans accordingly. It would probably have been ideal for him to have Shuichi on his side, as he saw Shuichi as a wild card (rather ironically; I'd imagine the group perceives Kokichi as the wild card of the group). So despite the translation error, the points made by the linked analysis still hold decent ground.
All in all, despite my belief that Chapter 4 is absolutely ridiculous, the linked analysis is quite good when one assumes Chapter 4 is logically sound (it's not), and still holds up even to someone like me who really dislikes Chapter 4 for its severe logical fallacies (my suspension of disbelief was absolutely thrown out the window when I played it... but maybe that's a matter for another day)

( "Immoral Immortality" — 1K words )
Immortal au writing made by my sweetheart @sukis-artchive based off this comic while we were chatting on discord
⚠️ Warning for violence and blood
It started off like any other night. Perkeo preferred the night shift. It was dimmer, quieter, and over all just less to handle. Well...
"Goodnight Pear..."
Moon's voice came from behind them, though thus wasn't the first and far from the last. Perkeo didn't jump at the sound or the menacing words. They quite liked the nickname 'pear', and as for 'goodnight' it wasn't meant to sound like a threat. Merely Moon greeting them, as he couldn't say "good day".
"Hey Moon"
Perkeo sounded happy, yet looked a little tired.
"How have you been?"
Moon had been doing well lately, (Perkeo knew this) but that didn't nothing to ease their mind.
"G-g...g-Gh-ooooD-"
His voice box glitches out. Perkeo refrains from sighing. They knew this would happen eventually, but the short peace with Moon doing well felt good. Too good. They were so close to fixing him. If only he could have held out a little longer. Moon isn't to blame though, he doesn't know.
And so Perkeo repeats the process they made, down to a tea. They learned how to buy the most time by doing this over, and over, and over again. Funny how similar that was to their 'life'. They always had a 2nd... or 87th chance to try again. Maybe get better results.
"Moon?"
They ask hesitantly, as always.
"Are you alright?
They learned not panicking at his silence results in less of a mess.
His pupils turn to red pinpricks, Perkeo isn't surprised, yet their heartrate still spikes. Some things never change.
A bead of sweat starts to form on their cheek, they know what's to come.
Moon reaches out to caress their face. Perkeo has learnt to accept fate.
...
"...Moon?-"
"Moon?"
"...Moon?"
"Moon!" Moon snaps their attention to Perkeo.
"Are you even listenin' to me? Geez." they hold a tablet, bangs barely cover what appears to be a small bandage.
"Sorry, Starlight, my mind was over the moon..." He looks around, getting his bearings, trying to remember what was happening... before that.
"Uh-huh"
The noise pulls him out of his thoughts, he doesn't even know what "that" was. Unable to recall it properly. Strange.
"So what were you saying?" He feels bad ignoring his friend, even if it was accidentally. What's wrong with you?
"I said we're done, you doofus, now go charge because we have a long day tomorrow... I'll close everything."
'All done'? Ohhh it must have been maintenance of his software, that's what the tablet was for. And it explains his forgetfulness, he was always like this after 'check ups'. But he trusts Perkeo.
He gets up off the desk, and reaches to grab them. "I'll leave it to you, then~ nighty night, friend. Sleep well."
He mutters a 'see you tomorrow' under his breath, as they bonk heads. His hand gently holding the sides of their face, fingers threading through their fluffy hair. He doesn't register their rigid posture. Or the slight tremor that courses through their whole body. Not even the small frown gracing their lips.
He walks off to charge, just as they had said.
Perkeo sighs, placing the tablet down. They had held the screen cautiously out of view from Moon the entire time. And start to utter Sun's cleanup chant "Clean up, Clean up".
They had luckily knew thought ahead to leave out the disinfectant. They had never been so grateful that the DCA cannot enter behind the desk, as they look down. Even through the curls falling into their eyes, they can see the crimson smear on the side of the furniture.
Their smear.
A bloody handprint slid across the hard surface.
Perkeo shivered as they walked around the desk. Trying not to look at the red mark. It was so painfully obvious among the bright colours of the daycare. The smell of iron becomes stronger as they get closer. Their stomach twists uncomfortably at the scent.
They reach for the disinfectant, grabbing it as a shudder runs through their body. They ignore it and get back to work. Hmmm, they'd get used to it, eventually.
Grabbing a small cloth, they dab it with disinfectant and get to work. Nose scrunching, they slowly build up the courage to touch the blood. Why is this so hard?
not like it's the first time.
Suddenly the feeling of sickness overwhelms them. They crumple a bit. The sight of their hand lining up perfectly with the print made them gag. It wasn't a pleasant sight, they forgot this would happen.
Memories flash back to them. Of all the other times they made the mistake of touching the handprint like this, instead of wiping it clean immediately.
Then, just like every other time, the other Memories come back.
Well if you can even call them that. 'Memories' sounds happy. Perkeo knew that the connotations don't mean anything though. They've been through too much, and learned that the bad experiences are also 'memories' in a sense.
Their body spasms, as their chest rocks with sobs. They'd never get used to extreme pain. Not even with how many 'deaths' they experienced.
It hurt so bad.
Their eyes were swollen and puffy with streaks from their crying. They learned that the only way to live longer was to not fight it. It would toy with them as much as possible, before going for the kill.
It tore into Perkeo like a feast, slicing them with sharp claws. They had been oh so gentle before, Perkeo may never get used to the change.
They didn't want to give it the satisfaction of a scream. It would only make it hurt more then. Perkeo remembers that.
They let it mutilate them. It scratches them, punctures them, drags them by their wounds and hair, pulls them apart. But this was a friend, Perkeo knew it was worth it. It'll all be over soon.
They find some comfort in that, feeling empty otherwise. The small voice of preservation that they thought they long since killed was barely a whisper.
...no....run...
Huh, now that's a surprise. Perkeo thinks, too late. The voice was warning them. Their body even knew what was to come at this point. Oh the irony, the vessel who puts them through this wanting the pain to stop. The only reason Perkeo sticks around here is because of their immortality. If it wasn't for their body, Perkeo wouldn't need to die.
Nothing, not Perkeos experience, nor all the past pain inflicted upon them, could prepare them for what's to come. Perkeo always blocked out this part, it's happened before.
They let out a single cut off screech. Their vocal chords still not fully healed from the last time.
As Moon forces his hand into their socket, violently ripping out their eye.
Blood splatters everywhere, the eyeball bursting in his grip. Perkeo crumbles to the ground.
...should have listened.
The little voice chimed, as Perkeo finally backs away from Moon, for the first time that night. Bad idea, and Perkeo knew it.
Though their immortal side has given them an aloof disposition and immeasurable tolerance. Instinct always found a way to persist.
They knew backing away would make it worse, but it hurt too much now for them to do anything else. They knew this would lead to it ending quicker.
Moon grabs them, claws digging into their flesh. They manage to make it behind the desk, his fingers raking through their skin before losing its grip. They try to pull themselves up, bloodied hands smearing the desk as they use it to push themselves up. They grab the tablet and force a shut down.
Hmmm, this is one of the first times they didn't die...
It takes them hours to fix up themselves and clean the mess, but when they finally do dread starts to well up again. Moon was shut down, but absolutely covered in Perkeos blood. Atleast this time Perkeo remembered to not leave any handprints on Moon. It made this so much harder to clean.
The dread still doesn't subside when they finish, as they pick up the tablet. Connecting it to Moon, they replay the footage. Watching their torture always made it worse.
Deleting the files, they reboot him.
They sigh.
"Hopefully this time we can last a little longer."

hello I am finally posting about all the sex toys I have acquired and what I think about them. Under the cut will include some basic info about silicone fantasy toys in general, but will mostly go in-depth about some of my own in-use experiences. I can't talk about every single model I've tried, but I talk about my favorites and try to get into some pros and cons of using grinders and strokers as a trans guy specifically.
Tumblr media
Apologies this post is kind of all over the place! Silicone toy 101 is at the top, personal experiences with specific toys are below with the other photos.
Silicone Basics
The key words you're looking for in a toy is platinum cure silicone, which is nonporous, nontoxic, durable, and can be easily sterilized by boiling or bleaching if needed (though in general a good wash with non-scented soap is all that's needed for basic upkeep). If you got a cheap toy from amazon or an online sex store, there's a good chance it's not platinum cure silicone and since sex toys are unregulated, you could be unknowingly causing yourself irritation or using a toy that harbors bacteria growth.
New to silicone? Here's what you need to know: Silicone used for fantasy toys is generally not as rigid as materials used in cheap mass-produced toys. There are different firmnesses but in general the options offered by indie shops will be softer than you may be used to, and you might have a learning curve at first. Here's the most typical firmnesses you'll see on scale from softest to hardest with the most commonly used names:
00-20 (SuperSoft) 00-30 (Soft) 00-31 (*NC31/Soft+) 00-50 (Medium/Regular) 00-45 (*NC45/Medium+) 10A (Firm)
Strange Bedfellas has a good detailed guide on what you can expect from different firmnesses.
*Near Clear is a... well, nearly clear silicone (no silicone is fully transparent). Regular silicone is opaque, but NC has less opacity and many shops now use it to make really visually striking toys with a lot of depth. Near Clear "soft" or "medium" is firmer than soft or medium in regular silicone. To me, 00-31 feels like 00-50, and I have found that as a person who prefers softer toys, even the "soft" NC is much too firm for me to use comfortably. Also be aware that some shops say that boiling NC toys can make them firmer and discourage that.
Shops I've bought from:
I own toys from Strange Bedfellas, Dread the Empire, Paladin Pleasure Sculptors, Made to Were, Hodge Podge Entourage, Kudu Voodoo, Gelatinous Creations, The Wicked Hunt, XenoCat Artifacts, Masterwork Toys, and Fantasticocks. These are all US based, and are only a fraction of the great indie shops making toys in the US and internationally.
-> For a more complete list of shops (along with MUCH MORE info about body safe toys), please see Fantastic Frost's Guide to Fantasy Sex Toys. <-
Heads up: Indie shops tend to upload their inventory in batches. Most sites will have a banner somewhere indicating the day/time of the next drop, or they will state it on their twitter, where they also post upcoming inventory photos. Be aware that some popular shops/models can sell out quickly or even instantly. There's a whole collector community that can be really intense about drops, and it's kind of funny to see when you're just passing through casually.
Choosing an Insertable Toy
If you're looking at my photos thinking "I'm intrigued but how am I supposed to know what I'd like?", good question! You ultimately have to just try something and see.
It's difficult to recommend specific toys because everyone's preferences are so different. I'm learning that a lot of people prefer firmer toys than I do, and since I'm a small person, even "Small" toys can be big to me. In general, fantasy toys tend to run BIG, so make sure to double check the measurements! For me, the restricting factor is usually circumference, and I recommend that if you have a toy (or a partner I guess!) that is a good size for you, physically measure the circumference so you have something to reference. I've found for me that anything bigger than 5.5" around will take warm up with a smaller toy first, and 6" is typically the max I can do without committing to a longer stretch session. But I've seen other people use my max sizes as their warm-up toys! So it really depends on your body.
My personal favorites
(disclaimer- I only use dildos vaginally, without lube, and I'm a trans guy who's been on testosterone for 15 years. ymmv etc.)
The photo below shows the insertable toys I personally reach for the most often. Shop/model details listed along with the circumference because I feel like a visual comparison is helpful for people who don't know what these measurements look like. In-use talk about why I like these and how I use them is below.
Tumblr media
Slim Deelit is nice to have because I can use it with zero prep or before I'm even turned on; it's a great warm up, and a good starter toy for people not experienced with penetration.
Small Batou is probably the toy I would recommend the most highly for anyone looking to try out fantasy toys–it's a basic shape with a slight swell, it's short so it's impossible to go too deep, but the ridge on the head feels very nice, and I've found it all around a great toy for anything from thrusting to just shoving it in and rocking on it.
Isonade is also a great basic model (though HPE is more expensive)–it's also got a slight swell and texture which feels good but is gentle, and it has more length so it's nice if you've got a deep spot you're trying to ram.
Adventurer reminds me of Isonade but with the addition of a significant head ridge–I need to be in the mood for the extra stimulation, but when I am it's great. The sculpt is very detailed and they offer realistic colors as well that look very beautiful. Masterwork Toys is an underrated shop imo–they don't do a lot of inventory drops and take long breaks, so this model was one I was after for a while.
Sahl is a gem when I want a lot of stimulation with basically no effort–stick it in and the hard curve, thick middle, and texture do all the work. I need to be very worked up to use it and it tends to be something I use to finish off quickly.
Knight is also an underrated model I think. It's got a swell and a flared, split, heavily textured head, but the rest of the shaft is smooth and narrower, so the stimulation when thrusting hits twice and is direct, sharp, and intense. It's what I grab when I want to be overstimulated and maybe involuntarily cry a little.
You'll notice three of these are from Strange Bedfellas, and they're definitely the first shop I recommend to people new to fantasy toys because of their combination of affordability (plus email coupons and sales!), consistent quality, variety of models including slim sizes, and the matte/satin finish (holds onto lubrication better than high gloss).
Grinders???
Grinders! I feel like so many people do not know what these are or how to use them and that is a real shame because they are a staple for me and are a great option for people with vulvas who may not want penetration all the time (or ever) or are specifically looking for external stimulation. Every once in a while I see someone shyly asking how to use them, so I think not knowing and being afraid to ask is the biggest reason for people overlooking them. Depending on the size, they can be used handheld, or some people might sit on them on a chair or strap ones that have loops to something (or to a partner's leg), but the way I use them typically just involves putting one on a sturdy pillow between my legs, kneeling or laying down over it and grinding against or thrusting into it depending on the toy and if it has a big enough hole for me to penetrate. Using them this way can be extra fun cause you can ride a long dildo at the same time if you so desire. :) Just remember to use lube if you're not wet enough or it'll chafe.
I want to talk a little about the different features of the ones I own, and how they work or do not for me based on the anatomy I have. For reference, I am a trans guy on t and my dick is the size of my thumb (my hands in photos for reference). A note about firmness: a lot of people seem to prefer grinders in at least medium firmness, but I strongly prefer SuperSoft 00-20, I think because of my dick's size and position. I still enjoy my Soft 00-30 ones a lot, but they usually leave my dick or pubic bone sore, especially because I mostly use them laying down, so my full weight is pressing me against the surface without much give. My SuperSoft ones rarely leave me feeling sore after.
Here's some thoughts about the ones I own:
Tumblr media
Isonade grinder comes in erect and flaccid. I find the main thing I like is using it to penetrate myself cause it's the same size as me and good for fantasizing about sex with other trans guys. I wish the bottom of the lips were connected, because they just open up when you penetrate them (no friction/pressure) and there's no outer labia to grind against either.
Made to Were's Zayn comes in two sizes and varieties. Large with a bullet vibe hole, and small; smooth or barbed texture. I enjoy both, but I like how the large feels more like another person, I like the height, and using it with a vibe is very fun. I reach for it a lot.
Claudette and Ludisia Grinder are similar to one another in-use and are good for when I am in the mood to fully penetrate something, though in my experience openings that are the same width inside as at the entrance don't stimulate super well. My dick's also longer than the channels and since they're open backed I end up with my head rubbing against a towel or pillow, which is not ideal.
On that note, Lydia is my favorite grinder for when I want to penetrate. It's got a shallow, textured interior with a closed back, so once you're inside you've still got something to rub against. The opening is long and pinches in, so there's constant stimulation when you move and it's shaped just right to accommodate the whole dick-with-inner-labia-attached arrangement. (I feel like most people with vulvas would like the mini size- the small is almost too big to work well for me.)
Calypso is king in my book. I wish I had it in SuperSoft 00-20 because the raised clit at the top makes me sore, but despite that it's still the easiest to use and most guaranteed to get me off quickly. There's just something about the ridge of the lips that WORKS. My only wish is that the opening was deeper so it was more penetrable, like the Lydia model. Still, if you're gonna get one grinder, Calypso would be my first recommendation.
Tumblr media
I'll just briefly touch on the three non-vulva inspired ones. Stella's Chest is boobs! What else is there to say. Good for titfucking or oral stim. Fantasticocks' Rubbies come in different textures. I don't use it often cause it works best strapped to a pillow and I'm lazy, but it's good! Strange Bedfellas has three Xymon tentacle grinders; this is the biggest and I like it a lot for the unique sensations. I don't use it as much as my other grinders cause I like the mental aspect of vulva shapes, but it feels great to use.
(Mini) Strokers, etc.
I usually see other trans guys asking about strokers before grinders, which makes me a little sad cause I find grinders much more satisfying. Not to say that strokers don't have their place! I'm just going to talk about mini strokers intended for people with vulvas who have large clits/dicks, but tons of shops offer full size strokers. Like I've said before, for reference, my dick is the size of my thumb, and important for this section, I have fairly large inner labia that attach right underneath the head.
So I dunno how other trans guy's dicks function generally, but I don't really stay hard enough to penetrate toys with tight openings, and even if I could, my inner labia kind of get in the way, so small round openings are not ideal. This is just my experience, but for me strokers aren't really effective for stroking so much as providing sustained suction, like a mild pumping effect. I tend to use them if I want to be able to stay harder for a while after. Both the ones I have are open backed, which means to get suction I have to squeeze shut and hold, or plug up the back. I use a silicone plug that came with my Claudette grinder, but the holes are sized for bullet vibes also and I think a lot of people use them mostly in concert with a bullet vibe (which is fine; I'm not wild about it though). I'll talk about my personal in-use experience below, but I am honestly so curious what other people's experiences with strokers are like, cause it seems SO dependent on anatomy shape, size, hardness, etc.
Tumblr media
Marri takes effort for me to use. I have to manually open up the hole and jam my dick and labia into it with my fingers, then try to squeeze out the air to get good suction. It can feel really good but also I lose suction if I tug too hard. Once my dick shifts inside it at all, I lose suction. Can be frustrating. It's got good reviews overall though, so maybe I'm too big or too floppy? idk
Naveah is much easier for me to use because of the wide opening that narrows inside. The tips of the beak can be a little annoying (are maybe a little long?), but also help keep suction by providing lots of surface contact, and can feel good used to tease. I can achieve good suction either with one beak positioned between my inner labia, though this can irritate my urethra if I'm not gentle, or rotated 90 degrees, letting my inner labia hang out of the V. I can still get good sealed suction this way. I can get deeper into this stroker, and it just seems to fit my anatomy better. I still tend to only use it as a warm up though–prep for jerking off or before using a grinder.
edit: since I wrote this I picked up another stroker and wrote a review plus extended thoughts here
And that's it! Thanks for reading whatever this was and I hope it helps choosing a toy feel a little less intimidating. I’m happy to answer questions about stuff I didn’t cover.

Do go off about the logical fallacies in Chapter 4, I always thought something was off about it. I'm curious to know your thoughts
Oh... if you insist... (currently bouncing off the walls with excitement ask??? I love answering ask—) ahem.
I suppose I can categorize my perceptions of Chapter 4 into levels of objectivity, with the highest being "I'm sure anyone with reading comprehension can understand the point I'm making and how this logic plays out" and the lowest being "I'm just petty about this"
Disclaimer: I'm a Kokichi liker but I kinda bash the guy in here. I insist it's out of a sense of love, as in "why the hell did you do that you little—" (my point is maybe don't read this if you're too too attached to Kokichi and don't like the insinuation that he did some bad stuff. Generally I assume this is a safe topic though.)
Let's start with my most objective take!
The murder setup was kinda garbage (might rephrase this heading later) (I didn't. fight me)
I know this sounds like opinion but hear me out. This is where the phrase "logical fallacy" really comes into play.
Let's outline Chapter 4 real quick. Miu is planning to kill Kokichi, and obviously Kokichi doesn't want this.
What are Kokichi's options from here? Apparently, one of them is reusing the motive from earlier in the chapter (the truth of the outside world) on Gonta to convince him to kill Miu under the guise of a mercy kill plan. This way, Kokichi doesn't die. This is what happens.
There's a lot to be speculated about regarding Kokichi's motivation for enacting this plan, but let's take the view that, first and foremost, Kokichi did not want to die to Miu.
With that out of the way, let's move on to the next piece of this defective puzzle: Miu's motive. We can cover this in two parts:
Part 1: Miu wants to kill Kokichi to escape the academy.
We can assume this much because she tried to set up a murder that would be near impossible to solve, as she would have had power over all the information available regarding the workings of the virtual world.
Kokichi makes the point in trial 4 that Miu coerced everyone to enter the virtual world so that she could manipulate the setting of the crime completely. She wanted to set up a murder that looked like it could only have happened in real life, while withholding the information that would reveal it was possible in the virtual world.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kokichi was the only one who knew quite a few of the finer details that allowed case 4 to be solved, and she planned to kill him anyway, meaning these details wouldn't have come to light. Since her intent was an unsolvable murder, she wanted to get away with it and escape.
Part 2: For what reason did Miu want to escape?
We can see that she wanted to change the outside world with her inventions based on her own words in Chapter 4. In a flashback of the moments before she was killed, seen in the Chapter 4 post-trial, she explains this explicitly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her belief is that the outside world can be saved if she can only escape back out into it. She believes this is her duty as the Ultimate Inventor.
And finally, we reach the point that the logical fallacy falls into place. If we first assume that Kokichi Oma is a cunning individual who plans things out meticulously and considers all possibilities (thus allowing him to do ridiculously clever things like plan his own, truly unsolvable murder and write an entire script of dialogue for Kaito to use in trial 5), then we can assume that his actions in Chapter 4 are reflective of what he views as his optimal plan.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And yes, in-game evidence shows that we are, in fact, to believe that Kokichi Oma is inhumanly smart and analytical. A script. A SCRIPT, with lines for every possibility he could possibly envision. It's a freaking tome of borderline clairvoyance ahksfwosfawei (as you may notice I do not like the existence of Kokichi's script. A SCRIPT. I may be a Kokichi liker but am I really supposed to believe he's a freaking clairvoyant????? like can't you clairvoyant the end of the killing game bro????? and I adfkaweoiefdfshkj)
See, the thing is... Kokichi's optimal plan, having Gonta murder Miu... is... not... optimal...
There's an alternative solution. All the pieces are in place for it to work. And the salt in the wound, the twist of the knife...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...Is that Kokichi himself already knew the mechanism I'm about to propose.
If Kokichi wanted to survive Chapter 4, he could have removed Miu's motive to leave.
Using the already planted Flashback Light in the Virtual World which contained the memories of the true outside world, Kokichi could have demotivated Miu from even killing him. Her motive was saving the outside world, and Kokichi had what would have been irrefutable evidence that the outside world was unsaveable.
This logical fallacy could be explained by reasoning that Kokichi's motive for having Miu killed was not only to survive, but what then? What would Kokichi's motive have been otherwise? Maintaining a mastermind act?
Why would he even need to do that if he could have lobotomized the killing game by letting everyone find the Flashback Light in Chapter 4 to begin with?
Maybe that means the logical fallacy stems from the ultimate use of the outside world motive in Chapter 5, when the truth of the outside world is used by Kokichi to demotivate the entire group. If, say, seeing the outside world led everyone to become bloodthirsty for some reason (?) then I guess that dodges the fallacy?(??????) It's just kind of a garbage motive in general... it didn't even work as a motive when Kokichi used it, and it demotivated the others. Makes you wonder why it was even included.
I guess my point is that the logic really doesn't add up in Chapter 4 and 5 in exchange for some thoughtless added drama. Y'know, typical writing issues stuff.
Um... I spent quite a while writing this one part up, and this is the view that I care about most, so I might split the others into another post, if I even do another one.
In case I don't, I'll just do a quick overview because they're really not nearly as necessary to explain in depth:
The cord switching bit. With the rest of the Virtual World segment riffing off of games and gaming knowledge, the dissolution of suspension of disbelief hit me like a truck when I was told to believe that Gonta reversed the cords and the whole thing basically ran fine, with just the one issue of memories not transferring back. I... am a modder. I type C007_Ki-bo instead of C007_Ki-Bo, the game crashes. Hell, even without being a modder, I have a drawing tablet with 3 cords and if I don't plug them in right, it won't do anything (duh). No way am I buying this.
Not a logical fallacy, but more of a story writing shortcoming. It kinda sucks that Gonta barely had a substantial role in this chapter despite being the culprit. He didn't plan the murder he committed, and he didn't defend himself for the murder he committed. I get that the idea was probably to make a case centered around Kokichi more than Gonta, but (and I say this as a Kokichi liker) we see enough of Mister Oma as it is. Too much, maybe even. (I mean Kokichi has Chapter 5. He DIES in the Chapter 5 case but still plays a role in the trial. And we're really gonna just have him take over trial 4 when Gonta isn't seen for the rest of the game?)
(content: discontent towards Kaito) Also not a logical fallacy. Maybe not that much of a fallacy at all. I might just be petty but I thought Kaito was cringe the whole time. (okay me and Seb literally had to get up, close the game, and go take a walk outside because we were losing it from everything Kaito was saying. DO YOU???? NOT KNOW WHAT A HYPOCRITE IS????????)
A bit of a shill I guess, but I did write two fanfics which were heavily influenced by my views on chapters 4 and 5, which tried to remedy these fallacies and others in V3. Canon-compliant Bloodied Hands renders Tsumugi the ultimate mastermind behind every murder (not just Rantaro's) with her dramatic meddling leading to the emergence of V3's logical fallacies, while The World is His takes the same premise, just diverging from canon such that Kokichi lives.

//seeing what you shouldn't.
Aka, a weave for my favorite scene of the most recent session of a VtM game I'm in: Leo and his coterie try to lure another Kindred into a false sense of security for a trap, but she seems to be disturbed by something...

If you're a Tron fan who wants to know about the real-life environment in which a computer company like ENCOM would exist, and in which characters like Kevin Flynn and Ed Dillinger would have become the people they are in the film, I heartily recommend watching the film Pirates of Silicon Valley. It's a dramatization of the history of Microsoft and Apple, how they grew from small startups to huge corporations, and the fierce, often nasty, competition between their owners, Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, including a lot of trickery, backstabbing and outright theft. Like most dramatizations, not everything is portrayed with 100% accuracy, but most of the real life people portrayed have later come out and said that the film captures the general mood and real events of the 80s computer revolution, and the personalities of the people. You don't have to know a lot about the techical details of computers to follow along, since most of the important stuff is explained in layman's terms.
Tumblr media
The Tron characters such as Kevin, Alan and Lora are pretty idealized, far more sympathetic versions of the kind of people involved in the computer business at the time. In Pirates of Silicon Valley, people such as Jobs and Gates appear pretty sympathetic at the beginning, but as the film goes along, it become apparent that they're both nasty, cunning and just generally unpleasant businessmen, prone to screaming outbursts and abusive treatment of their employees. The only person in the film who comes off as a decent human being is Steve Wozniak, who looks on in horror as Apple goes from a bunch of friends tinkering with computers in a garage to a huge company with unhealthy working conditions and an awful corporate culture.
Tumblr media
None of the Tron characters are carbon copies of Jobs, Gates or Wozniak, but there are some interesting similarities in their personalities and interactions. Jobs being the slick talker and salesman who becomes the head of the company, while Woz is the actual computer genius inventing the hardware and software, feels similar to the relationship between Dillinger and Flynn, or Dillinger and Gibbs for that matter. Jobs is also portrayed as being a pretty "out there" character, dropping acid, thinking of himself as a counterculture rebel, and viewing his work with computers as an important politicial and spiritual undertaking, which feels similar to what Kevin Flynn evolves into between Tron and Tron Legacy (though, again, Flynn seems like a much more sympathetic person).
Tumblr media
Also, maybe I've been on Tumblr for too long (scratch that, I've been on Tumblr long enough), but some of the scenes in the film gives off some weird homoromantic/erotic vibes to me. Jobs and Wozniak occasionally comes off as an unstable romantic couple, arguing with each other, and with Woz trying and failing to keep Jobs from becoming more and more unhinged. And the interactions between Gates and Jobs sometimes feels like a couple of arch rivals who wouldn't hesitate to sleep with each other in order to manipulate the other into a position where they could be stabbed in the back. Jobs especially gives Gates some looks that could be interpreted as horny, in a sinister sort of way. And of course, there's this gem from the IBM songbook:

Saw your tags on that post about swamp milkweed about having trouble getting it started--you may already know this, but milkweed seeds need light to germinate! They only need a light dusting of soil on top of them (and putting them somewhere with a lot of light helps!); if you can't see the seed through the soil, it's buried a little too deep. They basically want to be laying flat on the surface of the soil rather than poked down into it, with just enough soil on top to help them retain moisture. Yes this does make it kind of annoying to manage moisture because you don't really want them drying out either (sorry 😭) but I hope this helps!! I mention it because this is the most common issue I see with people trying to grow milkweeds from seed. They also want 4 weeks of cold stratification (cool temperatures like in a fridge while also being in contact with moist soil; you can plant your seeds, pop the whole pot in a ziplock/cover it with cling wrap, and just refrigerate it for a few weeks) so don't forget to do that!
You know
it's really funny
because i like to call myself the self-proclaimed milkweed queen of tumblr (at least on my gardening blog but still)
And yet
I
constantly fucking forget about the light thing
IDK if that'll fix all my problems (the soil at my house is pretty sandy so I think that's the problem when it comes to transplanting at least) but regarding getting those little shits to germinate??? that might be the ticket
(one of the other problems I face sometimes is the seeds deciding to mold when they're in the fridge cold stratifying, i lost a good chunk of seeds to that last year but i don't see any signs of it happening yet this year so fingers crossed everyone)

Ok, so I'm trying to picture the different architectural styles in every canonic Cybertronian city, and I think that Tarn would be predominantly brutalist(which is my favorite). But Structuralism and Metabolism also don't look bad... aaah
Now I'm trying to picture how Kaon would look like, maybe something like ancient Rome or Naples, but gloomy and more hostile and rusty. For some reason, I also imagine it covered in punk-looking or constructivist murals (idk if I'm making sense).
Vos: maybe eco-brutalist/solar-punk but with floating buildings. Mh - maybe Deconstructivism? Expressionism??? Idk I gotta choose at some point.
Iacon: art deco? Neoclassical but futuristic, something that screams, "We're rich and you're not," but also sophisticated
The other cities are still too vague in my mind for me to decide, but if someone wants to jump on this weird rumble-y architectural headcanon train of thoughts, be my guest!!!

Tim raised his hand. He was sitting together with Steph at the floor next to the Batcomputer, losing tragically at Pogs. “You can have a legally normal legal heir if you want.”
“You are not allowed to delete yourself from the FBI Watchlist,” Bruce said, more than exhausted. Like he had a newborn baby, but the baby won’t stop trying to commit cybercrime.
Tim slowly lowered his hand. After a few seconds he raised his hand again.
“No, Tim. You are not allowed to buy stock in technology companies just to build access into their computers.”
“I’m telling you, Bruce!” Tim protested. “I hacked into their product design records! There’s no way the iMac isn’t going to corner the market next year. Their stock’s at rock bottom, you gotta acquire them!”
“I’m not buying majority stock in a failing computer company just so you can install backdoors into all of their computers, Tim.”
“Jobs just came back to the company a month ago! He’s trying to resurrect it! He’ll sell, Bruce! It’s a good business decision!”
In which Bruce discovers the meaning of right and wrong, and Steph utterly fails to discover the meaning of horse divorces.
This one has one of my favorite scenes in the story, so pumped to show you. And super pumped for the finale next week! Thank you guys for reading with me so far!
