I'm not sure if the news has hit tumblr, but tomorrow (November 9th) there is a boycott planned called shut it down for palestine. You can contribute by not going to businesses that have shown support for Israel. People have targeted Mcdonalds, starbucks, nestle, air bnb, and general mills. If you're able to you can also refuse to go into work, you can attend protests, you can donate to save the children, unicef, or any other charities that are aiding the citizens of gaza. Some have even gone so far as to remove their money from the bank.
Speak with your government representatives and let them know you dont stand behind the funding of a genocide. If you see this post after the 9th, you can still join in the boycott. It starts tomorrow but doesn't end until the people of Gaza are safe and Israel is held accountable for their war crimes.

@/itsdaniadarwish on TikTok just posted!!
They have (temporarily)shut down the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, calling for immediate ceasefire in Gaza. I am crying, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK FRIENDS!!! Those of us who can’t be there with you physically are with you in spirit and WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU!!! Stay safe!!!!
CEASEFIRE, NOW
*** also if anyone wants to, it would be great to have alt text for this video!!! I’m not in a position where I can listen to it with full volume so didn’t want to quote her and miss anything/get anything wrong.
KEEP PROTESTING. KEEP RESISTING. NEVER, EVER LOSE YOUR HUMANITY. PALESTINIANS ARE NOT JUST NUMBERS!!!!!!!

Notes app writing incoming:
I feel like I’m in a state of physical distress all of the time. Beyond childhood trauma, and personal grief, and the additional trauma from teens to adulthood.
The world is burning. Countries are dying. People are rotting. We are all endlessly wrapped up in systems, cycles, and consumption that kills us. Every day.
It’s pessimistic, yes.
But it’s real.
And the only change that can be made is by people that care heavily like I do. And what is painful and scary is knowing that people like me exist, and yet there are people that don’t want to face it.
To those that refuse to face it:
How dare you ignore the death on your doorstep…
the screams clawing at your windows…
the cries whispering through the vent above your stove…
Everywhere outside is up in flames
and you choose to close the blinds
because you’re afraid or uncomfortable.
But think of the grass and the trees
And the birds and the bees
And your streets where you walked free.
They’re turning to Ash as we speak.
And one day you’ll starve
because your garden wilted
and the bees went extinct
and the birds met the heavens
and your neighbors turned to dust
and the death on your doorstep took over
And the people like me will have lived and died knowing we tried to make a change for people..
especially people like you…
because even when you couldn’t stand to see us work so hard to create a world
where things didn’t burn
and the birds sang more songs
and the bees continued to buzz
and the neighbors weren’t turned to dust
and your garden didn’t wilt
due to the fires we kept trying to put out,
we wanted you to live
to see the sunshine
and hear the bees
and speak to the people you love
another day.
To those that refuse to face it:
I only ask that you try to make a change. even if it means opening the blinds
a minute a day.
To those that see the world in the state it is in and want to make change:
Shut. It. Down.

Tax Resistance + Timebanking
There's been a lot of talk recently about tax resistance, which is great. One sentiment that's come up is that "simple living" below the taxable income line is not accessible or unsustainable for many people while also getting their needs met.
And getting our needs met, surviving, thriving, is the greatest act of resistance.
So I am here to offer a solution.
Timebanking is a way to trade goods and services without the use of money and without the limitations that bartering presents. The process is simple:
You provide a good or service and report it
You are given credits equal to the time / value of what you have given (how this is calculated may differ slightly between local timebanks)
You can request a good or service from anyone else in the timebank and use your credits to "purchase" it
Credits circulate the way money does, but money does not enter at any point in time.
Credits can also be donated, gifted, used for community projects, etc.
By using timebanking to meet more and more of our needs, we can reduce our reliance on taxable income / money altogether. This is also a much more accessible introduction to mutual aid for many people for whom giving and not knowing if you will receive anything in return feels too risky.
It's not the only solution that is needed. As some friends have pointed out to me, there are challenges presented for people who cannot work or cannot work as quickly as others. But a) that may be something your local community can find a solution for within the timebanking system such as giving a disabled person a different ratio for credits to ensure their needs are met and their work is valued and b) it's one of many tools we can use.
Reblogs and comments are welcome and appreciated.
