EPILOGUE - Part 1 - She's Come Undone and Set Free- Angry BAMF Elena Fic

summary:

She’d been free. Freed from a conscience she couldn’t afford to give up again. Free from the grief she’d never actually wanted to abandon, not until the choice was taken from her. But also free from the two brothers that had been taking choices away from her from the moment they’d come to town.

And she didn’t want to give that freedom up. She wouldn’t. Not ever again.

When Elena feels her humanity returning she finds herself focusing on having finally been free from the Salvatore brothers, and doesn't abandon her justified anger. Unfortunately, she also realizes that her sire bond to Damon isn't fully broken and goes to Rebekah for help, help that involves a little trip to New Orleans.

On the way, Elena will have to deal with her newly returned humanity as well as some long-awaited truths about Caroline's old relationship with the older Salvatore.

There are some things that even the most compassionate person could never forgive.

"I heard a strange little rumor," Niklaus singsonged like an obnoxious child half his apparent age. "Did you?" he asked carelessly, not quite paying attention. "How fascinating." "Whatever did Damon Salvatore do to piss you off, Elijah?" Hearing the name made fury surge through his bloodstream and Elijah’s movements halted momentarily as the muscles in his back transformed into stone. He'd known of course that it was simply a matter of time before Niklaus was informed of the bounty Elijah had placed on the whereabouts of the older Salvatore brother. This is only a fanfiction, it is a piece of nonprofit work - that I was inspired to write by the original work. Please support the official release of "The Vampire Diaries" and "Originals". That was before I knew she was one of the Harvest girls. That option no longer exists.

So for the sake of the plot and events, Hayley will be pregnant with Klaus' kid. But fear not, just like the rest of my stories - there will be Hayley bashing; and I will also find a way to bring Katherine into the plot.

I also decided to finally give Rebekah/Marcel a try.

there's something very juvenile and shallow about klaroline, in my opinion. part of it is because the narrative has never really focused on them unless its for fanservice. klayley, for example, have had ups and downs. they have worked together and worked against each other. they have made concessions for each other, they have killed for each other, and they have made choices for each other. their dynamic feels a bit more adult despite their immaturity at times, and of course part of that comes from their shared responsibility and their shared desire to put hope above themselves. it is through their circumstances that they regard each other differently and begin to treat each other like equals, which i find interesting. personally, klaroline just feels a bit stuck in the teen drama pit, which is why i do not find it nearly as compelling.

I also think it's because Caroline herself is a teenager. Yes, a vampire, but also a girl who's frozen at seventeen and will never grow up out of it, similar to Rebekah.

I'm not sure if it's been said in canon, but in tvd it's pretty clear that vampires are more or less mentally frozen with their physical age when they die. I don't know if that made sense, so: you die being twenty-two = you'll always be twenty-two mentally and emotionally, no matter how much you live as a vampire.

A clear example of that is Klaus, who died when he was twenty-one/twenty-two and despite having a thousand years, he clearly doesn't act like it. Or Rebekah, who in canon died being seventeen: she was clearly an insecure and neurotic teenager in tvd, until they made her act mature and feminist in The Originals (don't come at me for the last part, trying to steal a girl's boyfriend wasn't very feminist of her).

But back to the point, definitely. There was a lack of power between their relationship which Klaus always took advantage of, and Caroline did act like she couldn't stand his sight yet she didn't hesitate before accepting his attention or his gifts imo. I believe is because they weren't supposed to be romantically interwined at first, so the writers clearly didn't know how to handle them and they tried to make look romantic every time Klaus threatened her and snapped whenever she said something he didn't like.

Which failed, and yet fans bought it with their whole "Klaus is the only one who always put Caroline first." He didn't imo and that's final.

And Joseph and Kat, the actress of Bonnie, wanted their characters to have a romantic relationship yet Pl*c said a big no because she's a racist piece of shit. So with the way the writers jumped at the opportunity to not give us the romance between the black witch and the hybrid and instead had him "fall" for the baby vampire is disgusting. Klaus x Bonnie would have been a thousand of times better than any of his other relationships.

And now, going to klayley, I personally don't ship them anymore even though I did once. I agree about how they were more mature than klaroline, but the whole point of their dynamic is that they wouldn't have spared the other a glance if not for Hope. Hayley hated sleeping with him, as pointed out for their daughter in s5, but didn't regret it considering it brought her her hope (no pun intended lmao, or perhaps yes). Still, seeing the development in their relationship was quite beautiful despite everything: they loved each other as family, and one of the few things they agreed on was that Hope was their number one priority.

The whole conception about how Hope was made is strange though, hybrid and female werewolf = magic and most powerful baby as cliché as Renaissance from Twilight, that is three species without any logical explanation other than "we don't want any black witch (especially Bonnie Bennett) to be the most powerful" and "Klaus is a hybrid so he can procreate, despite the fact that he had been killed before having his werewolf side locked, therefore he couldn't get any woman pregnant".

I honestly love Hope, but her whole character revolves around being the most powerful and being the daughter of Klaus Mikaelson who is traumatized after her daddy and mommy died.

But going back to the point, definitely. Personally, I don't ship anyone with Klaus because I believe that to be seriously in a relationship with him, you must be as screwed up as him. It's the reason I don't believe Camille or Caroline could have been with him for a long time, and honestly he doesn't deserve either of those girls (I do though, give him to me.)

Either way, klamille and klaroline have problems of their own, but the fact that they resemble so much the sister he's always been obssesed with??? And the way Rebekah went for Marcel, the person that the show always said was the most like Klaus???

I have the same issue with Caroline it's not that I hate her character I hate how her character was used as a bonnie plot block she always was used as a excuse to not have bonnie in plots or a romance because they was putting her in the middle to a point bonnie didn't exist anymore even in the plots heavy centered around bonnie the Bennetts or witches it gets old how the Fandom hates on people pointing out the obvious about Caroline character even Elena got sideblocked by Caroline at times the last season Elena was on Caroline had more emotional storyline with her mom dying and her humanity switch turned off then Elena got because they was more worried about setting up Caroline as the main then giving Elena a proper send off and they Unintentionally set up bonnie to take over Elena place by putting her asleep as long as bonnie alive so why is Caroline the main writing in a diary she's going to see Elena again so why is she writing in a diary over bonnie

I know I can’t find my post right now but I said it before TVD functions in way so viewers can support in full Caroline due to her “growth” but not give the same to Bonnie(magical negro),& Elena (neglecting everyone around her that isn’t Damon..) but Caroline is “perfect” next to them.

Caroline becomes a better friend filling up spaces Elena was in. The Bennett’s were being leeched off of by Esther yet Bonnie is pushed far away from the Mikaelson essential plots. Mikaelson Ball for Bonnie where? New friend in Rebekah maybe? Bonnie x Mikaelson ship? Nah

Gemini coven and plots were around the Bennett’s at first. Sheila sending a Bonnie to the prison world/helping create them Bonnie wanting to mentor Liv, the prison world with Kai. Right up until Caroline’s pregnancy with the twins which btw just because Candice was pregnant doesn’t mean Caroline needed to be. Caroline becomes their mother and Bonnie is just “Aunt Bonnie”. Legacies lets the twins mention Bonnie just to use her blood for the ascendant or other things. Just nasty lol.

On top of being include in the originals final season. Hayley and Hope is missing and KC is just reminiscing around town?? Marcel’s goodbye to Klaus? Julie’s writing I tell ya.

Caroline is used to call out Elena (not talking about DE) anytime Caroline has an issue with how Elena’s acting she makes it known. Elena never does the same to Caroline at all or judged her. Caroline had sex with Klaus and Elena never gave her any flack. Elena tried to offer emotional support to Caroline then entire fandom said she made it about herself lol. Julie utilized Caroline as a self-insert to the fullest. How did Caroline go from “never being the one” to being desired by many, the best friend in the world and the “star?”

If we’re honest in my last point in this long ass rant I’m sorry lol. The only time Caroline is mistreated is when Damon raped her & the series didn’t acknowledge that. Before anybody jumps down my throat if you see it indifferently that’s cool! I’m NOT arguing with you on it. TVD never acknowledging makes the rules of consent very different for some people lol. Everyone looks bad for befriending Caroline’s abuser. Overall she got plenty of things. The only thing people complain about is that she didn’t run away to NOLA and be some vampire queen for Klaus and Hope’s mother.

omg on your tags!! i thought i was the only one who found the thought of Tyler x Rebekah interesting. I love my sister down but she never picked the “right” guy ig? It would’ve been so in character for her to fall for the guy her brother deems as a problem and wants to control. Of course, Tyler falling back in reverse unaware (at first) that the woman he likes is related to Klaus.

Tbh, before I knew of Hayley’s betrayal I even thought she and Tyler looked good together or could’ve been something. Obviously that went away with what she did but ugh…Tyler gets dragged for “cheating” and he never did it in the first place & yeah cheating is wrong! but fuck he might as well did it the way he’s bashed for it anyways 💀

Tyler should’ve been able to date! whether that was Rebekah/Hayley/Bonnie/Liv or whomever! Idk, it didn’t matter forwood is great it is but Caroline and that relationship became Tyler’s undoing and that makes me scream!!

It's ridiculous how Liv was set up to replace Bonnie. Kat's their best actress and you want a mediocre actress (no shade to her but just factual) in a boring character to replace her. Like BFFR. Racist really aren't a smart bunch, ending up sabotaging themselves by being assholes.

there’s very few tvdu actors that gave convincing witch to me and Liv’s actress is not one of them. In fact between her/Phoebe and Steven their all battling it out for worst actors of tvdu in my opinion. *shrugs* (just my thoughts though…)

When they had Bonnie tell Liv that she was way stronger than she ever been. I remember cringing and eye rolling because you can tell that was one of the writers moments just to bash Bonnie for no reason. It just seemed out of character for Bonnie to randomly praise Liv. Bonnie’s humble but she’s also kinda cocky about her magic. (She is Miss I WAS BORN to do this) The random Liv & Jeremy moments didn’t care for that even though Liv was just doing it to spite Bonnie. Didn’t care for Parkwood either because alas if they were going to suddenly push the wolf x witch ship they could’ve done so with Tonnie. Plus, parkwood (I hope that’s the ship name lol) is just as much of a throwaway ship as Bonenzo is. Those writers weren’t going to be satisfied until they got another white Bonnie in the series longterm. I mean just look at Davina / Freya for example…

Tvd carried on for so long some characters tended to become copies of another. I see Liv as a Rebekah 2.0 but not as likable to me.
